so for the past year and a half i was convinced that both of those wooden pickaxes that phil’s found in the chest in the bastion were dream’s (they’re not, one was his the other one was george’s) and because of one of nat’s @cdnfcanon anons i spend over 2 hours proving myself wrong, and as per her request im gonna post under the read more how those pickaxes got into that chest

the most important thing from this vod is that dream had the advanced tooltips enabled on his client (which means you can see the durability of his tools when he hovers his cursor over them in his inventory), as we only have his pov from the first moments on the dsmp it helped differentiate his pickaxe’s from george’s

so, dream crafts his first wooden picaxe at 3:07 and he uses it to mine the stone for his tools (durablity after mining the stone 55/59)

they both go to the nether, dream dies at 36:24 at the bottom of the treasure bastion on the platform with the gold blocks next to the lava, george dies right after him but more in the center of the platform (some of dream’s items got burnt)

dream crafts new pickaxe at 38:06 (so does george)

and again uses it to mine cobble (durability 54/59)

they go back to the nether but dream dies in the basalt delta to a magma cube and lava at 39:13 (george picks up what’s left of his stuff but only gives him back stone sword, 2 stone pickaxes and some berries, he has his own and dream’s wooden pickaxes at this point)

dream gets back down to the bottom of the bastion to pick up the items from when they died with a wooden pickaxe visible on the gold block (probably george’s 1st pickaxe)

dream dies again by hitting his head on a block and jumping into lava at 42:55, the items get burned (after dream dies you can hear the piglings being angry and shooting at george (he's not wearing gold armor) and he gets killed by them next to the gold blocks at 43:07, he has to craft a new (his 3rd) wooden pickaxe)

dream crafts his 3rd wooden pickaxe at 44:02, mines stone for tools (durability 50/59)

then george uses his wooden pickaxe to smelt iron (49:50), dream dies again at 52:59 to a spider but finds all of his stuff and picks them up (including the pickaxe) and they both just go mining in the overworld for iron

now i think this is where i bamboozled myself because what probably happened the last time i was going throught that vod was that i must have seen dream craft his 3rd pickaxe, and then skipped all the way to the end to the vod when they went back to the nether and just assumed dream’s 3rd pickaxe was the one that was put in the chest in the bastion

what actually happened was that dream dropps his 3rd pickaxe at 1:18:30 in the cave to make more space in his inventory while mining

after he and george regroup they go back to the bastion (btw this is the part of the vod with george jumping down and dying on the bridge above the platform with the gold blocks and making dream wheeze his lungs out), dream goes to the bottom part of the bastion and for a moment in the vod there are 2 visible wooden pickaxes next to gold blocks at 1:51:45 (these and some other items are from when george died for the 2nd time in the bastion), while dream makes a cobblestone platform george comes back and picks up the pickaxes and the rest of the remining items)

then george dies again by falling into a hole with lava at 1:52:50, some of his items don't burn -> dream picks up his items, including the 2 wooden pickaxes

dream then goes to the side of the bastion where he finds a chest with loot and to make more space in his inventory he places both of the pickaxes in the chest: the first one being the one with 54 durability on it (dream’s 2nd wooden pickaxe), then the one with 52 durability (george’s 2nd wooden pickaxe)

and then these were left there for about 10 months before phil found them

tl;dr dream and george sucked at surviving in the new (at the time) nether update, the wooden pickaxes were dream and george’s, nat’s anon got validated and i got humbled

27. How do they say “I love you” non-verbally?

For Nat is a quick hand squeeze while looking at Javy's eyes. He knows what she wants to say. For Javy is a forehead kiss. Simple, quick and yet, meaningful.

Doc and Bob use the same 'technique': they caress the other's wedding ring with their thumb while holding hands. In case they are standing apart, but they want to silently say I love you, Bob usually looks at Doc's eyes and plays with his own ring. It makes Doc smile.

29. Describe their nighttime routine.

Nat and Javy's routine depends on where they are. If they're home, they will shower together and put on sleepwear before getting dinner. They will try to catch up on whatever show they're watching now (Javy is trying to make Nat watch the whole 4 seasons of Stranger Things, they have just finished season one). Nat will fall asleep before Javy, and he will carry her to bed, go to the kitchen and get a glass of water for her, because he knows that she gets thirsty. And then, he comes back to the room, where Nat is half asleep, half awake, waiting for him with open arms and grabby hands.

If they're on a carrier... well, they cannot sleep on the same room, but there have been times when Jesse and Nat have been assigned on the same room, so Jesse makes a plan, and these two can sleep together at least for a few hours. That means that sometimes Bob wakes up and Jesse is sleeping on the other bed. He's used to it by now.

For Bob and Doc now is more complicated: their nighttime is centered on getting Hollie to sleep. Once they've managed that, Bob makes dinner for Doc, so she can sit down for a bit and rest. There's been a lot of nights when he never finishes dinner because Hollie starts crying again, so they both go get the baby, lay in bed with her, and pray to the almighty that the kiddo falls asleep as soon as possible so they can get something to eat. The three of them pass out and dinner is long forgotten.

30. What are their respective love languages? Do their love languages work well together?

For Nat is words of affirmation. On a world like the one she lives in, even though it is not common, there are douchebags that say nasty things to her for being a female fighter pilot. So, deep down, she needs to be reminded that she is doing a good job. Javy leaves small notes around the house or sends her flowers with cards, just so he can remember she's loved and appreciated.

For Javy is acts of service. Show, don't tell. So when Nat makes him breakfast, orders his favorite take out or watches Stranger things with him because it's his favorite show, Javy feels like he's in the best relationship he's ever had.

For Bob and Doc is physical touch. Neither of them are the most expressive people, and sometimes they just don't want to talk about their feelings, just cuddle with their special one after a long day at work, or after Bob comes back from a deployment. They don't usually say I love you aloud, but they know it.

Since Jaws has never been to a salon or barber, they'd usually just cut it down themselves. It gets the job done, but you can tell the one who cut it didn't exactly know what they were doing. It's uneven in some areas and the styling is more unkempt than purposefully messy y'know?

Just having Natasha find them in their shared restroom one day cutting their hair while borrowing Sam's clippers 🤭

You can imagine how fast she shuts that shit down

Once Jaws explains themself, Nat readily learns how to cut hair to one: stop whatever the hell that was, and two: it just gives both of them another way to spend one on one time together.

despite her mother’s warning that morning about the sudden drop in temperature, natalie did nothing to prepare herself for it. having slept in for once, she was forced to rush out of the house with a sandwich in hand, her coat haphazardly draped over her shoulders.

spending most of her day by the oven and rushing back and forth to serve customers, it’s only when closing time comes that nat finds herself shuddering. with no adrenaline left in her and wanting nothing more than to curl up by the fire, she must force herself to pick up the pace. alys was the one working the night shift with her, and the last thing natalie wanted was to hold her back with her slowness.

she rubs her hands against her apron in hopes of sparking some warmth – but it’s a pointless effort against the freezing cold threatening to seep inside the bakery. natalie’s almost afraid to step out into the streets, yet she meets alys by the door with her best attempt at a brave face.

it must not have been a very good one, for alys surprises her by offering her scarf. natalie can only stare in shock, cheeks growing pink with embarrassment. “ oh, it’s not – i’m alright. ” she holds her hands up as if to ward off her gesture. “ you’ll be cold without it. ” alys shouldn’t have to walk through the snow defenseless because of natalie’s carelessness.

when alys insists, however, she finds she has no choice but to accept. it pains her to take away her armor against the cold, but natalie figures it would be even ruder to keep declining. “ thank you! ” she grips alys’s hands as she picks up the scarf, hoping to properly convey her gratitude.

the scarf feels fuzzy against her palms, and impossibly warm as natalie wraps it around her neck – as if it was alys embracing her instead. “ this is really nice. ”

bracing herself to step outside, natalie promptly stuffs her hands inside her pockets. she’s surprised to feel something in them, convinced she had left them empty – removing their contents, she finds her favorite pair of blue gloves. “ oh! ” isaac must’ve put them there before she left home.

“ here! ” natalie promptly places herself in between alys and the door, holding out her newly found gloves. “ you didn’t bring any, right? ” ( hopefully not. or that would feel mortifying ). “ it’s a trade, ” she announces with a wide smile. “ so neither of us is cold. ”
