Smiffina Episodes: Teachers Pet

A schoolteacher, Phil Talbot is found unconscious at home by Nate and Sally and his house appears ransacked. A neighbour tells them she saw a roughly late teens girl leaving the house the night before about 8pm, she heard some noise a little later but only saw the door open and the mess that morning so rang the police to report it. His mother is horrified to have heard that there was a break in and claims he wouldn't have hurt himself but she can't explain the alcohol poisoning he's been hospitalised with. She tells them he's he's had a tough time with tricky students and working long hours lately and that his car was stolen the week before but he was doing alright.

Smithy frowns slightly as he watched Gina in the briefing, knowing something is wrong but he doesn't question it yet.

Sally and Nate speak to one of Talbot's teacher friends. He says he'd had problems with two teenage bullies. He claims Talbot 'lost it' with them and he had them excluded. The girl they bullied has dropped out but the other two have returned. Stacey says she was at home with Izzy when the burglary happened. Izzy says she was in the park with Stacey when it happened. Stacey shrugs and says she just got confused because the park was the night before.

Eddie finds a small footprint and thinks that it's was from a child or small woman as it's size 2 or 3. He suggests it could also be an unfortunate male, "you know what they say about men with small feet... or is it hands? I can never remember."

Valuable things seem to be broken rather than stolen so Eddie suspects it could be a vendetta, especially given they found two ATM withdrawal receipts for large amounts within the last two weeks.

The girl that was bullied by Stacey and Izzy is listed a missing person. The girls are mentioned on her missing persons file and she disappeared around the time they were suspended. Her mother calls them evil. Stacey is found with the same amount of cash on her as Talbot had withdrawn. Stacey shouts at Smithy that he better not be putting her in a dirty skanky cell and Smithy just smiles. "It's alright, we've nearly sorted our rat problem."

Stacey insists her mum gave her the money and that she was at home with Izzy the night before. Nate and Sally accuse her of breaking in and stealing it. She laughs and tells her there'll be no DNA found in the house. Izzy is easier to break and admits Talbot gave Stacey it but she doesn't know why. Her fingerprints are not found nor does she match the shoe print. Stacey laughs at the idea that Talbot gave her cash. Sally asks if Talbot is paying her to do things and she scoffs, telling them it's not her he's sleeping with but Vicky - the missing girl. She guessed and now he pays her to keep the secret. He then told her that was the last payment as 'Vicky had gone for good' and then trashed his own house and drank himself unconcious.

Sally feeds this all back to Gina. Gina tells uniform that Talbot is behaving out of character and they need to find out what has triggered it and what it means for his and Vicky's relationship if 'she has gone for good'. Has he hurt her? Gina tells Leon to look into his phone records to see if there's anything of note. Gina asks Tony to speak to Vicky's mum and tells all that Talbot's house is now a crime scene. Sally approaches Gina to try and talk to her about 'yesterday' (Lifesaver) . Gina tells her she disobeyed her, she reprimanded her, end of. She considers it over as she has more pressing things.

Callum and Nate speak to Eddie to ask him if he has any more info about what he found at the house. He tells them the print was likely there up to a week before last night and it's a girls Nike trainer size 3.

Vicky's mum tells Tony and Sally that Vicky last rang 2 nights ago and sounded awful. She was crying and kept saying she didn't know what to do. She now won't answer the phone. She also tells them that she wasn't really interested in boys and never mentioned a boyfriend or anyone that she had a crush on. Sally asks her mum if she owns a pair of Nike trainers and she says she does.

Leon plays Gina back a message from Talbot's mobile where Vicky apologises and says she knows his job is on the line but 'please don't be angry with me. Please, I'm sorry'. Gina and Leon worry that he's lost it with her but asks Leon to track her phone.

As part of another larger case they're working on, Arun and Millie find Talbot's stolen car. On the back seat is a pink hoody, the same one that Vicky is wearing in a picture on her mums fridge. Gina tells them not to touch it until Eddie arrives to check for fingerprints etc. Sally tells her mother that they've found it in the back of the car and she begs them to tell her what's going on and gathers they are suggesting something bad has happened to her.

Smithy catches up with Gina and she tells him about Talbot's car having Vicky's hoody inside and her shoe print being in his kitchen. Smithy asks her what he's saying about it and Gina snaps that she's on her way to find out and she doesn't care if he has the hangover from hell. Smithy knows something is up with Gina and asks her if she wants to talk about it. He tells her that no one blames her for putting the officers safety first, especially not after Emma. "What do you mean no one blames me? I haven't done anything wrong!!" she growls, storming out the station.

Gina speaks to Talbot's mum and tells her she needs to speak to him urgently about a pressing matter. Vicky's mum charges into the hospital with Sally at her heels and demands to know 'where that creep is!' Talbot's mum asks what's going on and Vicky's mum tells her her son is disgusting and he's done things to her 17 year old daughter and that they've found her hoody in his car 'I'm not an idiot! I know he's done something!" she insists as Sally looks horrified. Gina is furious Sally told her. "You think you know what's happening? Then you come with me!" she says, taking the mother with her. "Ma'am?" Sally starts before Gina snaps back. "Don't you even!" Gina takes her into the room where the unconscious Talbot lays and tells her he almost died that morning and that they don't know what's going on and will ask him when he comes round. "I just want my little girl back!" She sobs, Gina hugging and comforting her.

Gina tells Sally that she doesn't even know where to start with her for making the situation worse. Sally tries to apologise and Gina says she has far more pressing things to deal with. She tells her to sit with Vicky's mum, keep her gob shut and calm her down.

Leon and Roger have found Vicky's phone trace and it is now stationary. They worry they might be about to find a body and try to work out what is on that road.

Talbot wakes and is able to talk. Gina tells him they know that Stacey was blackmailing him over his relationship with Vicky and that it was him who smashed his house up. She asks him where Vicky is. He says he doesn't know but that it's over and they really loved each other. "I hated doing it." "What have you done?" she demands. He tells her he's done nothing, she turned up on his doorstep a couple of nights ago after being missing and he told her to go home. She was asking him weird questions about what makes people love each other and what binds them together. He asks where she is and what has happened. He tells Gina that it's his fault and he should have been stronger and was selfish but he really loves her. Gina receives the update from Roger and asks Vicky's mum if she knows anyone around that road her daughters phone has been tracked to.

Roger and Leon find it is short road containing a vets, a supermarket, a couple of shops and an abortion clinic. Vicky's mum loses her anger instantly. "Oh poor little thing." Gina charges back in and asks Talbot if he knew she was pregnant. He is clearly in shock and asks Gina to tell Vicky he loves her and he'll be there whatever she decides - he now understands what she meant by her questions.

Sally and Gina leave the hospital. Her mum begs them to take her. Gina refuses at first but relents and they hurry to the clinic. Vicky flies into her mum's arms and tells her she had to do it because she can't have it without him and he said it was over so she didn't know what to do. Gina tells her what Talbot said much to the horror of Vicky's mum. Vicky asks her if he'll keep his job but Gina can't answer that as although she's over the age of consent he was in a position of power and her tutor and it's likely he'll end up losing it if not being prosecuted too. Gina tells him she can see him if she wants to and that she doesn't have to rush into anything. Vicky's mum is furious that she'd tell her that but Gina points out it's her decision and she is the pregnant one. She takes her back to the hospital to see Talbot.

At the hospital Talbot and Vicky embrace and she apologises as does he for not listening properly. Her mum tries to make her leave and Gina orders her out so the couple can talk alone about their baby.

Sally runs out after Gina and tells her she'd been naive because she'd never thought about how hard Gina's job is because she always makes it look so easy. "Carry on sucking up and I might forget what a pain in the neck insubordinate you've been." She smiles.

2. How do they look?

She's a plus size little bean. She's 5'3 (160cm), white. Dark brown curly hair that just about reach her shoulders and that she ties with a bow most of the times, light brown eyes. My face claim for her is Rosie Talbot. As for body claim, that is the closest reference I could find.

9. What is their relationship with their mother like?

Her relationship with Rebecca isn't the best, but she doesn't resent her enough to hate her. She just really needed a mom, and still doesn't understand why Rebecca wasn't here for her. So, it's going to take her a while to trust Rebecca completely but she's willing to give their relationship a chance if she sees that Rebecca really puts some effort into fix it.

2. How do they look?

They're a short king (gender neutral). They're 5'1" (155 cm). White, nonbinary. A big, curly, wolfcut, red mullet and hazel eyes. My face claim for them is cavetown.

9. What is their relationship with their mother like?

They're the one with the best relationship with Rebecca. They were quite the independent kid and had a vague understanding of her job, so they didn't really question it. Sure they would have liked to see her more, but I hc that she was more present with them than she was with the others. When they got to know UB and what Rebecca really did for a job they were like "yup, makes sense". So, while they wouldn't go to her for personal stuff, they like her fine enough.

Jonah

8. What do they think of Unit Bravo

At first he was like "what a bunch of assholes", but he slowly warmed up to them. First Nate who, let's be honest, makes it pretty easy to open up to, and kind of forced him to give the rest of UB a chance. Then came Adam and Mason. He bonded with Adam over their interest for work (and the undeniable attraction between them) and with Mason because they're both made of sarcasm at 80%. Felix was the one that caught him off guards the most because he has trouble making friends with people with a bubbly personality, so it took Felix's best jokes to win him over but he did it.

So now, he's fiercely loyal to UB and stayed with the agency only because he grew up to love them so much. They're the family he never had and it would ruin him to lose them.

15. Would they have reacted to Falk's flirting, if given the opportunity?

Oh, he did! Remember that one line "what are the neighbors going to think?", he took it first chance he got. A gorgeous supernatural in my house? Yes, hello. But it all would have been playful and nothing serious. Like he recognizes that Falk is an attractive person, there's no denying that, if they had met in other circumstances, it could have been a one night thing but, with the way they met, he just used his charms to get Falk on his side.

Rue held on tight to Talbot's leash, though at the moment, the chocolate lab didn't seem to have any desire to go anywhere besides right here where he was being loved on. "Yeah?" she smiled, "I used to say the same thing in like....middle school." Light laughter fell from her lips, she still preferred animals to most people, but it wasn't the kind of thing she wanted fans (or potential fans) to hear.

Paul Tuala Heads A List Of 57 Illawarriors Selected For Country

Illawarriors Captain Paul Tuala is right at the top of the list of 57 Illawarra Players to be selected in NSW Country Squads after last weekend’s Country Championships. The Squads covering Seniors, Colts, Women’s, and Junior Boys and Girls age groups where announced during the week.

Wollongong University stalwart Tuala, is one of six Illawarra players named in the Cockatoos Squad to prepare for the short 2022 Cockatoos program. Tech Waratahs trio Stephen Schwenke, Misieli Sinoti and TanielaTuipulotu were named in the squad along with Matori Atunaisa from Kiama, and Jack Hobbs from Vikings.

Paul Tuala’s selection is well deserved after his standout performance in Tamworth for the Illawarriors. Paul has declared the 2022 season will be his final year in Illawarra Rugby and set a goal for himself to finish with another Caldwell Cup victory for Illawarra and Cockatoo selection. The Caldwell Cup victory evaded him but he will be over the moon to once again represent his beloved Cockatoos one more time.

Despite their side not winning a game in Tamworth last week five Illawarrior Colts players have made it into the Country Colts Squad. Jaxon Clark and James Hicks from University have made the squad along with Josh De Kok and Felix Talbot from Bowral. Also in the Colts Squad is Hugo Fay from Tech Waratahs.

At the Junior level Illawarra sides won three Country Championships in the Boys Under 14’s and Under 16’s, along with the Girls Under 16 side finishing as Joint Champions with Hunter. Thirty boys have won selection in Country Squads across the ages and fourteen girls were included in three Country Girls Squads.

The full list of Junior Country Representatives are:

Boys Under 18’s – Tyler O’Brien, Darnell Te Ahuru, Dom Uliana, Josh Parrish, Nate Makotsvana, John Koroi Jokatoma, Leo Malaesilia and Harry Velavatu.

Girls Under 18’s – Charlotte Basham, Hope Millard, Zali O’Brien, and Mia Walsh.

Boys Under 16’s – Jacob Colwell (Avondale), Ezekial Kennedy (University), Rico Ross (Kiama), Jack Tully (Tech Waratahs), Harry Middleton (Kiama), Callum Hodgson (Kiama), Nathaniel Gallagher (Camden), and Charlie Heidke (Kiama).

Girls Under 16’s – Veronica Agavale, Maria Paseka, Jayda Patrick, Tahlia O’Brien, and Bronte Wilson.

Boys Under 15’s – Ben Askew, Isaac Elliot, Jerome Gargoles, Glassie Glassia, Mase Hilcoat, Dusty Moffitt, Mason Norval, Riley Parrish, Hanare Reti, Noah Spiteri, Kai Wilson and Seamus Wood.

Boys Under 14’s – Brayden Lang, Ronel Marc-Ribucan, Lacom Poaching, and Max Sutton.

Girls Under 14’s – Angela Agave, Rebecca Cusack, Jacquelline Anna Scott.
