⚠️⚠️⚠️ EXCLUSIVE LAURA LOOMER INVESTIGATION⚠️⚠️⚠️
I have conducted an investigation and I believe that for the sake of National Security, public interest and now my own personal safety I need to immediately release and publish what I have uncovered about the United States Government’s involvement in recruiting violent American Nazis, White Supremacists, and domestic terrorists and turning them into mercenaries and confidential informants in Ukraine to fight against Russians and kill civilians. Upon their return to the US, some of these Nazis are now engaging in perpetuating hate crimes and other felonies in the US, and they appear to be protected by our government from serving prison time, have received delayed prison time, and even reduced prison time. As many of you saw, this weekend I stumbled upon a Nazi rally in Altamonte Springs, Florida where I encountered 50 Swastika flag waving Nazis affiliated with “Blood Tribe” and “Goyim Defense League” (GDL). One of the individuals in attendance who I filmed at this rally on 9/2/23 is a US Citizen and Nazi named Kent “BoneFace” McLellan. At the rally, he was Seig Heiling while screaming SLAVA UKRAINE. His whole entire body and face is covered in tattoos, including many Nazi tattoos. As I have exposed, he is a Nazi who has traveled abroad to Ukraine to fight in the Ukraine-Russia war. He is an American citizen who was recently given Ukraine citizenship. I have overwhelming evidence that Nazis who are being backed by our government have not only murdered civilians overseas, but they have also been engaged in war crimes. In the case of Kent “BoneFace” McLellan, who resides in Florida, he is a Nazi, a domestic terrorist, and a violent felon who was arrested in Florida in 2012 by the FBI. He was put on the US terror watch list, and then in 2014, he was recruited by the CIA, and the DOD reportedly paid for him to travel to Ukraine in 2014 to join “Right Sector”, and then the Nazi Azov Battalion in 2022, which our taxpayer dollars are now unfortunately funding. Upon his return to the US circa 2022, I have discovered via my investigation that McLellan received a US Army Expeditionary Medal for his “services” in Ukraine. My investigation has uncovered Social media posts he posted in which he posed for a picture, in Ukraine while wearing an Azov Battalion uniform, next to the dead body of a civilian. The image, which I sent to a forensic analyst for verification, has been authenticated. Why is the Joe Biden Regime funding Nazi death squads in Ukraine with US taxpayer dollars? I received a phone call from Kent BoneFace McLellan at 1am last night after someone leaked my personal cell phone number to him, and after he was seen saying “we have a visual on Loomer” on a HAM radio he is not licensed to operate. He published that video to his Twitter account and tagged me. During the phone call I had with McLellan last night, he gave me confessions of various crimes. Here is the evidence of what our US government is doing in Ukraine. These are WAR CRIMES. I have a responsibility to share this damning information I have uncovered with the world.

#DJMonday When Mackie Quave was a senior in high school, he won the radio announcing division of the 1939 National Forensic League Finals in Hollywood, CA. When he returned home to Asheville, NC, he quickly got a job with a local radio station. In 1945, he joined the staff of WKIX (later WMSC) in Columbia, SC as program director.
While at WKIX, the University of South Carolina offered him a chance to teach radio part-time. He took it and later established the campus radio station, WUSC. He moved to rival station WIS as assistant program director and chief announcer in 1947 and remained there for 14 years. – "Mackie Quave, A Man Called 'Cactus'," The Columbia Record, November 15, 1969.

Since Detective! Yuu is a thing, I’ve been thinking about Yuu is a famous yet sassy teen detective.
Tumblr media
However, when they discovered a shady deal after solving a murder in a concert, they were knocked unconscious by two men in black (Leech brothers), then Jade force-fed them a lethal apple-flavored poison which left the remnants untraceable when examined by forensics, to silence them.
However, the two wouldn’t thought that Yuu survived, because their body has been turned into a child instead!
With the help of Professor Divus Crewel, our stylish yet sadistic scientist and inventor, they have to keep their identity secret from the world, lest the two will come back to eliminate them for good.
Tumblr media
Besides Crewel, Yuu meets the people who ended up as invaluable allies in their quest to take down the mafia - one of them is Epel Felmier, codename “Sleep Kiss”.
Tumblr media
Epel Felmier (child identity: Ronald Crewel) is a scientist who formerly worked under the Octavinelle Mafia headed by the powerful and well-connected boss Azul Ashengrotto. He is the creator of the lethal apple-flavored poison called “SHIRAYUKIHIME_1812″.
Tumblr media
When he heard that his cousin was silenced, he immediately rebelled against the mafia, which ended up him being locked in a gas chamber. Desperate, he took out the aforementioned poison to take his own life, but he instead shrunken too. He escaped from captivity and he passed out in front of Yuu’s house before taken in by Crewel.
However, their existence doesn’t go unnoticed by a mysterious man, Jamil Viper. A MI6 agent who spies on Yuu and Epel, and hunt the mysterious Octavinelle Mafia. He seems knows something about an Epel Felmier more than anyone...

Notes:
- Azul and the tweels are just... too perfect to be villains (well, they’ve been that way since the beginning lol).
- Yes, Epel is Haibara here, like they shared the same motif = poison.
- I was about to put Crowley to be the role of Professor Agasa, but he seems too absent-minded (and I DON’T TRUST YOU, YOU MASKED HEADMASTER). Sam was almost perfect for this, but there’s something missing.
- In the end, I chose Crewel instead, because he’s also knowledgeable about chemistry, just like Haibara. I bet that his jerk-with-a-heart-of-gold personality can spice their lives, ayeee.
- Yep, Jamil take the role of Akai Shuichi here, but he’s in the MI6, while Akai is in the FBI. Both possess a certain allure that I can’t even describe.
- The codenames used by the mafiosi is based on their personal unique magic.

The Debate Link: Origins
This blog is called The Debate Link.
That's no accident.
I started this blog when I was eighteen, just after graduation, when debate was the activity that most defined my high school experience. It was something I did nearly every weekend for four years, travelling all across the country. I was nationally-ranked. I won tournaments at both the local and national level. I wasn't just a "debater". I was, if I do say so myself, a pretty elite debater.
This blog was in many ways a continuation of that experience, and an attempt to fill its void. Its initial tagline was "The arguments, made by and for the debating public." In fact, here's my very first post, from way back in 2004:
Hey everyone! My name is David, and I am an ex-debater from Bethesda MD. My 4 years of debate has given me a healthy appreciation of the issues that concern America, and a desire to share some of the better arguments on some those issues I've come accross during those years. So hopefully, whenever I come up with a good idea (or stumble across someone else's), I'll post it on here.
See you soon,
David
(How adorable was I? Seriously.)
It is impossible to overstate the degree to which high school debate was formative in my life. It taught me how to think. It taught me how to write. It generated friendships that persist to this day. It even, indirectly, made me realize I wanted to be a law professor. There are few facets of David Schraub 2023 that are not in some way traceable to David Schraub, high school debater.
High school debate is having a moment in the news, prompted by this article by James Fishback chronicling an alleged takeover of the events by the radical left. I want to comment on his piece and his allegations, as well as on some commentary given by Kristen Soltis Anderson, who I knew and competed against in my generation of debate.
There are few reasons to read Fishback's account with grains of salt, beyond the obvious fact that he is at the helm of an insurgent competitor to the established National Speech and Debate Association (formerly known as the National Forensics League) and so has a vested incentive in undermining it.
First, whenever I read accounts like this about craziness allegedly afflicting student-centered activities, I always ask myself "what are the students saying?" Do the actual students involved share the perception that high school debate is rotting from the inside out? Or is their view that these accounts are misleading, exaggerated, and not reflective of what's actually happening on the ground? I certainly remember from my student days how frequent it was that I'd read breathless accounts about "what was going on" at my school or in my club or on my campus that bore zero relationship to what I actually saw. Once I was no longer a student, I still tried to remember that experience -- how many times have the "adults" parachuted in to "solve" problems at schools or on campus in cases where the actual putative victims have been screaming "you are not helping!" The older I get, the harder it will be to remember that instinct, but for the moment I can still rage against the dying of the light. And to that end, it is notable that Fishback's post contains very little in the way of contemporary student commentary or support indicating that they share his view about either the gravity or ubiquity of the problems he identifies -- a failure which makes me profoundly skeptical of whether he's accurately describing the underlying reality.
Second, I also remember to beware of apocryphal anecdotes. I doubt there has ever been a generation of debaters that didn't have stories about the lurid, ridiculous, extreme-performative arguments that supposedly were winning rounds left and right. In my generation, I distinctly recall a story circulating about a debater who simply wrote "Rwanda. Rwanda. Rwanda." on the board over and over again in their first speech (on any topic) as some sort of commentary on the moral intolerability of engaging in regular debate in the face of genocide. Trading the story across the lunch table, that debater cleaned up at elite tournaments. In retrospect, I can't say I ever recall actually seeing a round that was anything like that -- and I both witnessed and participated in many elite-level debate rounds. Stories are stories.
All of that said, I can't fully accuse Fishback of nutpicking. The "Marxist-Leninist-Maoist" judge that opens his story was a collegiate debate champ, and so can't be dismissed as a complete non-entity. For recent graduates who are looking back on their competition-days, it is very, very easy to miss "having the ball in your hands"; to think on the arguments you would have made now that you're (slightly) older and (arguably) wiser, and live out that saudade for being a competitor by turning the act of judging into "what would I have argued." It's easy, but it's not good, and it takes the event away from the people who are actually competing in it. There's no such thing, in my view, as a debate where only one side is allowed to show up, and judges who functionally make that demand are toxic to the enterprise.
At the same time, the problem in debate of bad judges is an eternal one. And I have sympathy for the NSDA here, because it's actually a really difficult problem to regulate. It's unfeasible for the NSDA at a national level to actually police the judging styles and capacities of hundreds if not thousands of judges at tournaments across the country (which is one reason why the norm has shifted to disclosure -- we can't control if your judge is good, but you can at least know what their paradigm is). And for obvious reasons, the NSDA does not want to open the door to ad hoc challenges of particular judging decisions on general claims of "unfairness" -- that way lies anarchy (particularly when you're dealing with debaters, who always can come up with reasons why their losses are unfair!). In reality, much like Supreme Court ethics rules, there's probably not much that the NSDA can do other than vaguely promote norms of fairness and hope for the best.
Indeed, in many ways the problem with debate judges is not so different than the problem with Article III judges. There's little that's more frustrating than the sense that the judge in front of you has rigid ideological commitments that will prevent them from fairly assessing your arguments no matter what you do. That frustration is multiplied by the fact that, if they do act in that abusive fashion, there's little in the way of recourse -- we can't get rid of bad, biased Article III judges and, practically speaking, we can't get rid of bad, biased debate judges. The same mechanisms that ensure an independent judiciary and facilitate the orderly administration of justice by not allowing every unpopular decision to be second-guessed also provide a near-impenetrable suit of armor for hacks and incompetents alike if they do manage to get through the door. That is, to reiterate, insanely frustrating. But there's no straightforward resolution to it.
The reality is that the political demographics of both the most common participants in debate (publicly-engaged 14-18 year olds) and the most common judges of those debates (publicly-engaged 18-24 year olds) means that debate will almost inevitably slant to the left. Again, that's not something that can easily be fixed short of manually changing people's political opinions. We hold our opinions because we're persuaded by them; so it's inevitable that the arguments we tend to find persuasive are more likely to be the one's resonant with our opinions. That tendency can be checked, but it probably can't be overcome entirely.
But to some extent, the focus on "liberal" versus "conservative" ideas in high school debate to my mind reflects a fundamental misunderstanding of what debate is -- and overlooks one of its most valuable features.
It's natural for an outsider to think that high school debate, insofar as it touches on politically salient issues, naturally divides itself into contemporary liberal and conservative divides. If the topic is a resolution on, say, foreign aid, one participant will lay out roughly what you might hear on the subject from a Democratic Senator, the other, from a Republican House member. But, at least when I was competing, this was rarely what happened. Debate tackled issues from a multitude of different perspectives and angles that rarely, if ever, neatly tracked contemporary partisan divisions. Despite the seeming binary imposed by pro/con, affirmative/negative, the lived reality of debate transcended these narrow divisions.
And this is a good thing. The purpose of debate is not to give competitors a working understanding of and fluency in what arguments are currently circulating in the halls of Congress. Debaters are not there to parrot the arguments that one most commonly hears on CNN or Fox News. The purpose of debate is to give competitors the tools to think creatively about their own arguments, to try to make those arguments as strong as possible, and to assess and defend them against any range of potential responses. It is perhaps a sad commentary on politics that a focus on strong arguments means that the resulting product will typically have little bearing on the actual contemporary disputes over liberal versus conservative politics. But that's how it goes. Moreover, it is entirely possible to have a productive, valuable debate round where both competitors basically accept liberal, or conservative, or Marxist priors and then argue "what's the best way of doing X from within that framework?" That sort of debate also teaches people how to critically assess and defend positions, just as effectively as debate rounds that more expressly cut across classic ideological paradigms. It is far too narrow, and constrains the vision of young debaters, to try to limit them to thinking purely within the well-worn grooves of American party politics.
And that brings me, in conclusion, to some of Kristen's comments. Kristen admits that, in contrast to Fishback's presentation, it does not seem like (in her recent experience) conservative ideas have been locked out of high school debate. And even when it comes to the specific conservative bugaboo of the day -- DEI initiatives -- much of the content the NSDA is promoting is entirely reasonable and salutary. Kristen remembers judges criticizing her and other female competitors for their "shrill" or "squeaky" voices; I remember a major tournament official repeatedly and openly -- as in, when making public announcements of awards -- engaging in homophobic taunting of one of my friends (he would repeatedly mispronounce the name of the student -- who was a regular top-tier competitor and absolutely known to the organizer -- so one of the syllables in his name was spoken as "gay", when the syllable in question was pronounced "guy"). If those sorts of practices are being arrested, it's all for the better.
But Kristen is concerned about some of the things that are listed as potential examples of DEI-related debate topics (inside the NSDA website's section on inclusivity). To be clear, it seems evident that the NSDA is suggesting that tournaments include some of these topics as part of the tournament's overall package, not to exclusively draw from them. But within this subcategory, Kristen thinks that the questions possess a liberal slant -- a problem even if (as is naturally the case in a debate context) people will inevitably be encouraged to take both "pro" and "con" positions.
Reading these topics, I understand why they're thought to be coded as liberal. At the same time, for at least a good quotient of them, it makes me sad that they are coded as liberal. Consider the question "Why are there so few startups founders who identify as women in the United States?" On the one hand, I get why this question seems to be "liberal". On the other hand, why is this question coded as liberal? Can it really be the case that conservatives don't have thoughts on this matter -- or at least thoughts they're not embarassed to share? When did conservatives decide that the only thought a conservative is permitted to think on this sort of question is "don't ask it"?
The students who answer this sort of question are not, overwhelmingly, thinking in terms of "how do I slot this in to a liberal or conservative ideological frame." They're going to be thinking practically about what sorts of factors or conditions lead to disproportionately fewer women founding startups. The reason why this codes as liberal, though, is that the very act of thinking through a question like that with any degree of seriousness (i.e., not just smirking "it's because women are for making babies!") has been coded as something that only liberals do. That, to my mind, is tragic -- but that's not a DEI problem or a NSDA problem, that's a conservative problem. Conservatives absolutely should have thoughts on why there are relatively few women founding startups. They also should have thoughts on questions like "How can the federal government do more to promote Latino/a/x entrepreneurship?" and "How can the US government increase participation rates of gender minorities in STEM fields?" These are important social problems which all of us should be tackling. Perhaps those thoughts will be radically different than what liberals have to say. Perhaps they'll be surprisingly resonant (think about cross-ideological coalitions forming around YIMBY zoning reform, or relaxing occupational licensing requirements). But to the extent that even trying to work through "how can we increase the representation of underrepresented minorities" is viewed as an inherently liberal endeavor; well, I think that's a tragedy.
More broadly: the point, again, of high school debate is not to give teenagers the opportunity to parrot the shibboleths of Democratic or Republican talking heads, and so high school debate does not fail when it forces a student to develop thoughts on a question that Democratic or Republican talking heads don't have thoughts on. So ultimately, I think it's a mistake -- and not reflective of high school debate as I remember it -- to ask whether or not students are presenting "liberal" or "conservative" views on a given question. Overwhelmingly, that entire framework is a projection by adults; it is not the approach taken by the competitors, nor should it be. Institutionally-speaking, debate should be about prompting students to think about interesting questions. The answers we get rarely will fully map on to contemporary political factions -- and that's a very good thing.

Aint no picnic being a Jew
Since Hamas militants launched a deadly surprise assault on Israel earlier this month, there has been a significant rise in antisemitic incidents across the U.S., according to data released by the Anti-Defamation League on Wednesday. The group recorded 312 antisemitic incidents from Oct. 7, the day of the Hamas attack, through Oct. 23, up from 64 in the same time period last year. Of the 312 incidents, 190 were directly linked to the Israel-Hamas war, the ADL said. According to the ADL, a nonprofit organization that fights antisemitism and extremism, the spike included a 388% increase in incidents of harassment, vandalism and/or assault compared to that same time period in 2022.*** https://www.cbsnews.com/news/antisemitic-incidents-spike-following-hamas-attack-israel-anti-defamation-league

DETROIT — Investigators have identified several people of interest in the fatal stabbing of a Detroit synagogue president but would not talk about their connections to the woman during a press conference Monday. Authorities found 40-year-old Samantha Woll’s body outside her home early Saturday after a caller told police about a person lying on the ground. Detroit Police Chief James E. White said police know Woll — who led the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue — attended a wedding Friday night and that she left the celebration around 12:30 a.m. He said there was no sign that anyone forced their way into her home and investigators believe Woll was stabbed inside before stumbling into the yard. “We have a number of people that give us interest. We are just short of calling one of the people a suspect,” he said, adding that investigators believe a suspect “acted alone." Police have repeatedly said they have found no evidence that Woll’s killing “was motivated by antisemitism,” and White asked people not to draw quick conclusions as the investigation continues, including analyzing forensic evidence with support from the FBI.*** https://www.wzzm13.com/article/news/local/detroit/several-people-of-interest-in-synagogue-presidents-killing/69-350cc960-7b5a-400a-bd7f-25d8291303f0

Law enforcement officials in Maine found the 40-year-old man suspected of murdering at least 18 people at two locations on Wednesday night after a near 48-hour period of searching. “[The suspect] has been found dead, @SenAngusKing tells me,” said reporter Michael Shepherd with the Bangor Daily News. He added, “He was found dead in Lisbon near a recycling center where he used to work in the same clothes he had on during the shootings on Wednesday.” NBC News, ABC News, and others also quickly confirmed the news with senior law enforcement officials. "A deputy visited Mr. Card's residence on Sept. 15, 2023, and Sept. 16, 2023," a statement from Merry read. "Mr. Card was not at his residence during the first visit, and the Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office sent a File 6 — an attempt to locate teletype — to other law enforcement agencies," the sheriff said. "The alert included a warning that Mr. Card was known to be armed and dangerous and included details of his behavior. The alert urged that officers use extreme caution," the release read. Ex-crypto golden boy Sam Bankman-Fried is set to face a blistering cross-examination by Manhattan federal prosecutors Monday — and then a planned mysterious “rebuttal” witness. The MIT grad, 31, coolly tried to weasel out of blame in court Friday for his alleged $10 billion theft from FTX investors, claiming he knew “basically nothing’’ about cryptocurrency when he started his business and that it imploded because of “mistakes,’’ not crimes. But he won’t be able to dodge getting slammed by prosecutors under cross-examination when his criminal trial resumes Monday morning. Prosecutors also hinted Friday that they then plan to call a “rebuttal” witness after he leaves the stand.*** Prosecutors are set to get a crack at the disgraced crypto king during a cross-examination Monday that could be brutal for Bankman-Fried, if Thursday’s dry run was any indication. The California native tried to squirm his way out of answering questions during a surprise evidence hearing — held after jurors were sent home — repeatedly stammering, “I don’t recall” as prosecutor Danielle Sassoon interrogated him. Later Friday, the MIT grad tried to distance himself from computer code that the feds say allowed his hedge fund to pilfer unwitting FTX users’ funds by “borrowing” money it never paid back.*** https://nypost.com/2023/10/27/news/sbf-set-to-face-brutal-grilling-monday-and-then-mysterious-rebuttal-witness/

A 25-year-old Missouri teacher faces six felony charges for allegedly pursuing a 16-year-old student — and both sending him pornographic images and soliciting ones from him. Rikki Lynn Laughlin of St. James, Missouri, allegedly solicited dick picks from her victim via Snapchat and sent him nudes, as well as a video of herself *** Maries County is near Rolla, about a two-hour drive west of St. Louis. When the school district that employed Laughlin reported a possibly inappropriate relationship, a detective visited the student at home. The student that "things progressed fast" after the teacher reached out on Snapchat and that they'd kissed. She also allegedly invited him to have sex at her home while her husband was out of town, but the student "made excuses for not meeting with Laughlin because he did not feel comfortable," according to the detective's report. Laughlin allegedly told the student that she could go to jail for the photos they'd exchanged and asked him to delete them because people at school were talking. LifeBridge Health confirmed to FOX45 News that three staff members who work at the Bel Air-Edison Safe Streets location are on leave until further information becomes available regarding the FBI raid that occurred Thursday morning.  While the FBI is staying tight-lipped about the scope of the probe, sources close to the investigation tell FOX45 News federal agents are looking at possible connections with the Black Guerilla Family gang, or BGF. Safe Streets is Baltimore City’s flagship gun violence prevention program, according to Mayor Brandon Scott. There are 10 different locations across the city, and the employees, dubbed "violence interrupters," work in a small, set zone. The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, or MONSE, oversees the implementation of the program, though the day-to-day operations are overseen by two nonprofits: Catholic Charities and LifeBridge Health.*** https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/3-workers-on-leave-amid-fbi-investigation-into-baltimores-safe-streets-program/ar-AA1j0t1t

BOSTON — An Attleboro man with a lengthy criminal history is facing charges in connection with a brazen act of vandalism at a landmark cathedral on Tuesday night that left a 150-year-old crucifix with broken arms. Michael Patzelt, 37, of Attleboro, was arraigned Wednesday in Boston Municipal Court on charges including assault and malicious destruction of property after prosecutors say the crucifix outside of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in the South End sustained about $20,000 worth of damage.*** Before breaking off several parts of the crucifix, Patzelt walked into a nearby store and knocked the hat off Tashana Watson, a mother who was shopping with her 11-year-old son. “I pushed him,” Watson said. “I pushed him like four times to get him away. And then he grabbed my hair and my hat and threw it. Then he tried to have a conversation, something to the effect of, just shoot me.”*** “I’m looking at his record and I see a man who has seven pages of committed time...And then I go and I look at a 10-page Florida record, and it’s full of similar charges to what we’re seeing here today,” the judge said. “I’m going to set a $5,000 cash bail...If we’re dealing with a mental illness, let’s get to the bottom of that ASAP.” Patzelt attorney told the court that he is out of work, homeless, and “remorseful” for his actions. The attorney also explained that Patzelt had been living in Attleboro with his grandmother but she passed away, forcing him to move out.*** https://www.boston25news.com/news/local/depraved-heart-sick-mind-attleboro-man-destroyed-crucifix-boston-cathedral-prosecutor-says/GH7JNSV5DVHUBKLZ7WG3OVPYTE/

*** Seneca Scott said “meet me at my office,” and this lush spot at the corner of 8th Street and Peralta—home to songbirds and clucking chickens—is it. A few minutes later, Scott, 44, drives up in his Jeep and hops out wearing pajamas, a down vest, and a wide grin. We sit at the picnic table in the morning light of the garden, Scott stroking his beard, his shoulder-length locks tied up, as he describes how crime is ruining his adopted hometown.  He says it’s ridiculous how criminals are taking advantage of the police force’s notoriously slow response times.  “You know in the movies when they go to rob a bank and set their watches, like ‘all right bro, we got 30 seconds aaaand synchronize,’ ” Scott says. “Now it’s like 45, 50 minutes. It’s insane. I can sit down and make a sandwich and shit. Smoke a cigarette, take selfies, walk home. Because the police aren’t coming. They’re not even picking up.” From 2018 to 2022, the number of homicides in Oakland has jumped by 79 percent after falling by 46 percent in the six years prior. In the last year alone, violent crime has risen by 17 percent.  Oakland now has the state’s second-worst 911 response time. Residents say they have waited 10 minutes before anyone even picked up the phone. Meanwhile, the number of homicides that result in charges has dropped from 65 percent in 2019 to 36 percent in 2022. ***
You might think a black activist and union organizer in the Bay Area would be a progressive who supports Black Lives Matter and defunding the police, but Scott rejects both movements. In fact, he says the defund debate is split along racial lines.  “The black people who live in the impacted neighborhoods were pretty much united in the fact that they did not want to cut the police budget,” he says. “The white people in affluent neighborhoods were pretty much united in that they did want to.” Scott calls himself a “post-partisan solutionary.” Though he used to be a leftie, he now unabashedly calls out “phony” progressives on Twitter (now X) for being “dismissive towards Black and Brown people.” He says he doesn’t do left-right politics and told me that both parties now cater to elites. ***
At around 10 p.m. on October 30, 2021, Scott got a call warning him that two men were in his garden trying to steal the water heater. When he went down to check it out, he found two guys had set up a tent and laid drugs out on his picnic table.  When Scott told them to put down the water heater, one of the guys pulled a knife. Scott showed the men his Heckler & Koch USP45 Compact pistol and again told them to put down the water heater. One of the guys took off.  At that moment, two Alameda County police officers passed by in their cruiser and the remaining intruder flagged them down. He told the officers Scott had pulled a gun on him and his friend. The officers saw the handle of Scott’s pistol sticking out of his vest pocket and, according to the police report, they took the gun and arrested Scott on charges of brandishing a weapon and carrying a concealed firearm. “I had a firearm ’cause I came down knowing I was going to encounter two thieves, and I showed it to them,” Scott said. “It’s unfortunate that we’re forced to self-help right now. Just that same night, an hour earlier, my neighbor was shot in his face while holding his baby. That was on the same street, like eight houses down. There’s no rule of law.”***
In July, the Oakland NAACP urged city leaders to declare a state of emergency over the crime wave that has hit African Americans hardest, while accusing [DA Pamela] Price, who is black, of anti-police rhetoric and an “unwillingness” to prosecute criminals. In return, a spokesman for Price expressed “disappointment” that “a great African-American organization would take a false narrative on an important matter.” In response to accusations that she is soft on crime, Price said, “That’s racism. I’m calling it for what it is.” (On Friday, Price’s laptop was reportedly stolen after her car was burgled on an Oakland street.)***

SBF either couldn't get a deal or was so insanely reckless he wouldn't take it.
***It’s no secret that defense lawyers hate putting their clients on the stand, because it exposes them to cross-examination. But what choice did Cohen have? When FTX, the crypto exchange SBF founded in 2019, collapsed in November 2022, resulting in big losses for many of its customers, the Justice Department filed eight criminal charges against him. These included wire fraud, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit fraud. The central allegation, though, was that Bankman-Fried embezzled around $8 billion that belonged to FTX customers, and used it to cover up losses at his hedge fund Alameda Research. He also used the money to make risky investments, buy a couple of private jets, pay stars like Tom Brady to promote FTX, and purchase naming rights for the stadium that hosts the Miami Heat, which was briefly known as FTX Arena. If convicted of all eight charges, SBF faces up to 110 years in prison.*** his primary tactic was to portray himself as a hapless victim of Alameda’s CEO, Caroline Ellison, with whom he had a weird relationship. (They slept together occasionally, and while Ellison desperately wanted more from Bankman-Fried than sex, he seemed incapable of giving her that.)*** SBF is a terrible witness. He looked visibly nervous most of the time he was in the witness box. He often had his hands tucked between his legs. He rarely blinked. His voice rose as he spoke, making his answers sound like questions. He used a curt yep when a yes was called for, and nope instead of no. No one found his occasional efforts at humor funny. Whenever he tried to expand upon an answer, Judge Kaplan cut him down. And this was during the easy part of his testimony, when his lawyer was tossing him one softball question after another. SBF seemed incapable of saying anything that might engender empathy from a juror.*** The assistant U.S. attorney leading the prosecution, Sassoon relies on a well-honed staccato to hit defendants with a relentless barrage of questions. That’s what SBF was now facing, and what we were all here to see: “Do you recall saying that FTX was safe?” “Didn’t you say in interviews that FTX had protection for customers?” “Did you own 90 percent of Alameda?” “Did you say in private, ‘Fuck regulators?’ ” “Did you call some customers ‘dumb motherfuckers?’ ” “Did you fly to the Super Bowl in a private plane?” “Most FTX customers did not have a line of credit, correct?” “Do you deny that Alameda had a $65 billion line of credit?” And on, and on, and on. Under the circumstances, SBF’s wisest course would have been to just say yes—or yep—to her questions. And sometimes he did that. But just as often, he chose to dance around the question, to quibble about the phrasing, or say that he couldn’t remember the details. And every time he did that—every single time—Sassoon projected an email or video or a spreadsheet onto the screen, showing that he had done exactly what she was accusing him of doing. Which then gave the jurors another look at the evidence while reminding them that SBF was being something less than forthright. You’d think this MIT graduate would wise up, but he never did. (He even equivocated on whether he had taken a private plane to the Super Bowl—to which Sassoon responded by presenting a photograph of SBF fast asleep in the embrace of a comfy chair on a private jet. In the overflow room, we burst into laughter.)*** https://www.thefp.com/p/humiliating-cross-examination-sam-bankman-fried

Trying hard to make us a banana republic
The elected district attorney in Colorado’s 11th Judicial District launched a baseless investigation of a judge after becoming frustrated by his unfavorable rulings in the high-profile Barry Morphew murder case, state authorities alleged in a disciplinary complaint filed Monday. District Attorney Linda Stanley pursued a domestic violence investigation into then-District Judge Ramsey Lama after he issued a series of rulings against prosecutors during the case against Morphew, who was charged at the time with killing his then-missing wife Suzanne Morphew in a prosecution that later was dropped.*** Stanley ordered an investigator with her office to interview the judge’s ex-wife about whether the judge had ever been abusive during their marriage, and whether that rumored history might be influencing his rulings in the Morphew case, according to a 20-page formal disciplinary complaint filed against Stanley on Monday by the state’s Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel, the entity responsible for investigating professional misconduct by Colorado attorneys. The agency opened an investigation into Stanley earlier this year. “We couldn’t understand Judge Lama’s orders that were so egregious against us, and he’s normally not like that,” Stanley said, according to the complaint. “And we were discussing what’s going on, and those two came together. And I said, let’s see if we can get somebody to interview (Lama’s ex-wife) to see if there was something going on or if she suspects that he is trying to get back at her, essentially, in almost a passive-aggressive way by making this case impossible to prosecute… So we wanted to see if she would say anything to us about any of that or if these actions by the judge may be almost a passive-aggressive move at her.” Stanley pursued the investigation into the judge even after the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office declined to investigate, citing a lack of a credible report. The judge’s ex-wife denied any abuse occurred and denied that Lama ever spoke with her about the Morphew case.*** https://www.denverpost.com/2023/10/31/linda-stanley-misconduct-barry-morphew-prosecution/

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — An organization financed by international left-wing billionaire George Soros is playing a large role in the complicated race for Allegheny County district attorney. Incumbent Steve Zappala is a Democrat now running as a Republican because of his Democratic primary loss to progressive Matt Dugan, the county’s former public defender. Plenty of eyebrows were raised over the weekend when campaign finance reports showed nearly all of the money Dugan received came from the Pennsylvania Justice and Public Safety PAC, which is funded by Soros. The filings, reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, showed Dugan raised under $67,000 between June 6 and Oct. 23. Ordinarily that would be an abysmal amount for a Democrat in a countywide race. But Dugan received a whopping $1.1 million in “in-kind contributions” from PJPS and, according to the filings, the money is being used to run his entire campaign from advertising on-air and in mailers as well as polling.*** Zappala is one of the state’s longest-serving district attorneys. He was upended by Dugan in the May Allegheny County primary that saw traditional Democrats left in the dust by progressive activists, with many of them having previous ties with the Pittsburgh chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. They include Sara Innamorato, who is seeking the powerful Allegheny County chief executive office. Soros's bottom-up funding of local races has been going on for nearly 10 years. His candidates often run in low-turnout closed primary races on social justice platforms, a tactic that has caught traditional Democrat counties and state parties off guard and created disruption in local Democratic parties when they win. They ultimately cause even more disruption once they are handed power, when they discard tough-on-crime tones. Campaign finance disclosures show Soros started donating in 2015, and by 2016 he had given at least $5.6 million to PACs supporting district attorney candidates from Arizona to Wisconsin, according to campaign filings. By 2017 Soros placed his money on the candidacy of Larry Krasner, a then little-known defense attorney, who, in a crowded primary, splintered the vote to become district attorney in Philadelphia thanks to a $1.7 million infusing of cash from the Soros-backed PAC.*** https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columnists/soros-financing-plays-role-in-pennsylvania-district-attorney-race

Thank you for making a report of that crime. We'll let you know if the suspect turns himself in.
When a robber pointed a gun at Stephanie Traub’s forehead and demanded her purse and car keys, she didn’t know a U.S. congressman had been carjacked at gunpoint an hour earlier. While many were focused on Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Tex.) on Oct. 2 — a Monday night — Ms. Traub was driving home from a pinball league. She parked a block from her home about a mile east of the U.S. Capitol. She had never feared for her safety before, but something felt off when she exited her vehicle and heard another car door slam nearby. Then the gun was in her face. Ms. Traub handed over her belongings. The gunman ran to her car and sped away. She called 911, and D.C. police arrived swiftly. Ms. Traub had an Apple device in her 2008 Honda SUV that enabled her to track it. She sat on her front stoop with her laptop and three D.C. police officers looking over her shoulder as she watched the carjacker’s location around the city. “Aren’t you going to go get him?” Ms. Traub asked. “We can’t pursue," she recalls an officer saying. ***There have been 827 carjackings in the city so far this year (through Oct. 29). At this point of the year, the District has doubled last year’s number and has six times as many as in 2019. The worst place in the city for carjackings is the D.C. police department’s 6th District, east of the Anacostia River. The second-worst is the 1st District, around the Capitol, where the carjackings against both Ms. Traub and Mr. Cuellar occurred. The police have not yet caught Ms. Traub’s carjacker, as is often the case. She blames D.C.’s “no chase” policy for police. The District had effectively banned police chases earlier this year, as part of a national trend in recent years to prevent often fatal pursuit-related crashes. But D.C’s ban went too far. As violent crime in the city surged, the D.C. Council passed emergency legislation this summer to adopt a slightly more permissive standard for police pursuits. The new policy, which was in place the night Ms. Traub was carjacked, permits police to chase when there is an “imminent threat” to others, there is a low likelihood of anyone else getting hurt and police can apprehend quickly. Yet if this policy rules out pursuing the perpetrator in Ms. Traub’s case (either by car or by helicopter), it and those like it in other cities are still too restrictive. Lawmakers and police departments nationwide are trying to find the right balance between empowering officers and ensuring guardrails prevent the overuse of force. Chicago police this summer called off a chase of an armed robbery crew because of the city’s policies, criticism of which could lead to revised rules. Washington’s state legislature voted this spring to make it easier for police to conduct car chases, relaxing a 2021 state law that restricted them. New York City has ramped up vehicle pursuits this year. Ms. Traub’s case shows how D.C.’s policy is still out of balance. The crime occurred at 10:30 on a Monday night, a time when the streets are relatively empty in much of the city. Her tracking device showed police exactly where the robber was. Ms. Traub said he was an adult, not a teenager on a joyride. He appeared savvy about the loopholes in D.C. policy. He crossed several times into Maryland, even stopping at a gas station on the border. Prince George’s County police followed the car for a while, she said, but they stopped when he returned to the city. Ultimately, the carjacker abandoned the car in D.C. It was only then, after the robber left, that D.C. police went to the car.*** https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/10/30/carjacking-dc-crime-police-chase/

Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) announced Wednesday that Washington, D.C., will be handing out free digital tracking tags for their vehicles, as car thefts have skyrocketed in the city. Bowser unveiled the pilot program, available for drivers in certain areas of the District, alongside Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Officials said these tags could help law enforcement officers locate stolen vehicles and find those who were responsible for the theft. “Last week, we introduced legislation to address recent crime trends; this week, we are equipping residents with technology that will allow MPD to address these crimes, recover vehicles, and hold people accountable,” Bowser said in a statement.***

Hi! Just as an intro, this is my third year on my school's debate team, second year as varsity (typically neg), and my first year as captain. Woohoo!
The main purpose of this blog will be debate memes for exhausted debaters, along with general advice. Feel free to ask any questions! I primarily compete in policy debate, though I can try to help, or direct you to helpful resources for any other questions you may have.
Have fun debating!

So a Congress kid said once “He’s an OO kid. OO kids don’t care.” And I was about to argue until I realized we have four OO kids on out team and
One of them drank an actual gallon of unsweetened ice tea when the team went to dinner together (we did the math of how many ounces he had drunk)
Another OO kid was his ride home after dinner and he was ready to go and tired of being out but the first kid was effing shaking and this conversation transpired between him and an HI girl "What if he pees in your car? What if he pukes in your car?" "...oh..." "What if he dies in your car?" "Eh"
The entire time through dinner I kept throwing fries at the other OO kid’s face because he stole a fry from someone earlier, and I also apparently when I thought I was talking normally I was screaming but I refuse to stop when someone tells me to shut up
The fourth OO kid is a team captain and doesn’t take crap from anyone. She also worked on an entire essay and ignored the team screaming in between rounds and before awards
So. I realized I really couldn’t argue.

In 2004 I went to Salt Lake City to compete in the National Debate Tournament. On Sunday, I had to dig out a bag to use for my race, and I found this floating around in the bottom...from 13 years ago!
