Danger First
Chapter 6
@pocketramblr another :)
.
Shouta trudged back to the staff break room. His counseling session with Midoriya had lasted a little over an hour, so while there were still teachers in the building, many of them had left. With the exception of semi-retired heroes like Recovery Girl, everyone working here had two full time jobs. Hizashi, despite his carefree air, had even more than that in the form of his radio show. Hizashi had probably left with the students.
But Hizashi wasn't either of the ones he wanted to talk to. Not today.
He opened the door. Three, no, four teachers were there, but Snipe didn't count, seeing as he was completely passed out on one of the couches with his gas mask half off. He must have had an early shift patrol today, poor sucker.
Nemuri was there, too, with most of her hero outfit on. She was applying her hero-grade makeup (water proof, resistant to three common contact poisons, and guaranteed not to react badly with mace).
More importantly, Kan and Yagi were both there, poring over papers on the same desk, no less. Shouta walked up to the table and looked down at sheets and sheets full of incomprehensible numbers.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"We-"
'Don't tell him!" said Kan, urgently. "This is going to be my class's leg up on Aizawa this time around."
"Haha! Good one!" Yagi slapped Kan's back, and apparently even in his skeletal form he could pack a punch, because Kan had the air knocked out of him. Before he could recover, Yagi continued, "I'm making personalized nutrition plans for his class!"
"What?"
"One of my undergraduate degrees was in nutritional and health sciences, after all!"
Wow, there was a lot to unpack there, but Shouta was more than happy to leave it in its box. He had other fish to fry and topics to interrogate. Small talk requirement fulfilled, he moved on.
"How well do you know Midoriya?"
Yagi blinked and put down his pencil. "Moderately so? We met about this time last year and have been meeting regularly since then."
So, so much to unpack.
"Why?"
"Ah, he... impressed me, I suppose? He was involved in the bodysnatcher incident last year."
That was an understatement.
"He had a lot of heroic spirit!" continued Yagi. "But... not so much in the, ah, body category. I thought it would be a shame, a waste, really, if he wasn't able to pursue his dream, and a hero school prep course wasn't really in the cards for him, considering his quirk status and the timing... And I did have this degree..." He waved his hands vaguely at the table. "I just gave him a little help."
"What brought all this on, anyway?" asked Nemuri. "Midoriya is the little green haired kid, right? One of Chibiida's new friends?"
"If you keep calling him that, I won't be held responsible for when he snaps and attempts murder. But, yes, that's Midoriya."
"So...?"
"He told me I was the best teacher he'd ever had."
Nemuri started laughing.
"Oh," said Yagi. "I'm glad the two of you are getting along so well."
"I think he's pulling your leg, Shouta," said Nemuri, coming over to pat him on his shoulder. "Man, I didn't think a friend of Chibiida's would have it in him. Such youth!"
"I cannot even begin to tell you how much he wasn't."
Nemuri's laughter died off.
"Judging from some comments he made today," said Shouta, "not to mention the discrepancies between his record and his observed behavior in the classroom, I'd say he's been the target of severe quirkism in the past, particularly from his teachers. Did he ever mention anything like that to you?"
Yagi's face darkened and the mood in the room grew much more somber. "Not in so many words, no. However... some of his comments about his teachers disturbed me enough to bring it to the attention of the Musutafu Educational Services District, but as an unrelated stranger without concrete proof..."
("You can use the acronym, you know," muttered Vlad.)
"You're telling me they ignored the number one hero."
Yagi made a face. "I didn't go to them as All Might. Can you imagine the media frenzy if I did that? I didn't want to paint that kind of target on young Midoriya's back."
That was fair, actually. If largely-anonymous Shouta had enemies, All Might had ten times as many. Not to mention supposed fans.
"Other avenues of inquiry were also fruitless," said All Might, countenance darkening. "I asked some of my police colleagues, but they don't have full discretion over the direction of their investigations, and, again, if I were to use my weight to move them... It would get out, and people would wonder why I was so concerned with an apparently normal middle school."
"Did you try talking to Nezu about it?"
"No? Why?"
Shouta reminded himself that although Yagi was an alumnus, he was also very new as a teacher, and was as of yet unfamiliar with Nezu's more interesting traits.
"I'm going to," said Shouta, "and you're going to come with me." He turned to Kan. "Have you heard anything from Bakugo about quirk discrimination?"
"All I've heard from him are explosions, threats, and some kind of complex I don't have nearly enough psychiatric training to- They're from the same school," he realized.
"Yeah."
Kan pinched his brow. "So, the sweet shy kid you keep gushing about-" Both Shouta and Yagi attempted to reassure Kan they weren't gushing, "-and the demon brat are from the same school."
"That is what their records say," agreed Shouta. "Did you know, Yagi?"
"Oh, that they knew each other? Yes. Actually, I was rather under the impression they were childhood friends, as Midoriya ran out to help him during the bodysnatcher incident."
Shouta grunted. It was possible. He hadn't seen the two of them interact, at any rate.
"I'm going to Nezu with you," said Kan, standing up. "No matter what else this hell school did, they deserve to suffer for inflicting Bakugo Katsuki on me with those recommendations full of lies."
"Why don't you just expell him if he's that bad?"
"Because he's talented, hardworking, and hasn't actually broken any rules except for the swearing. He's just a pain I wasn't prepared to deal with and will probably contribute more to my hearing loss than Yamada by the end of the year."
"Wait, wait," said Yagi. "What exactly are you expecting Nezu to do in this situation?"
"Well," said Nemuri, who still hadn't left yet, "let's just say there's a reason hid name is 'god' in the staff group chat."
.
Terrible did not even begin to describe how Izuku felt when he woke up. His skin was static. His mouth was dry in a way that hurt. It felt like a siren was going off in his brain, and also like it was too quiet. He wanted to both run all the way to the school and hide in his closet.
This, of course, left him paralyzed in bed.
He hadn't felt remotely like this since the first time someone had left spider lilies on his desk at school. What was wrong with him?
No, that was the wrong question. All signs pointed to him having Danger Sense. He was in danger. And also immobile in bed.
With a great deal of effort, he turned to his bedside table and grabbed his phone. The clock in the corner read 4:42. Far too early to call anyone. And yet...
With shaky fingers, he navigated to Mr. Yagi's contact information and pressed dial. To Izuku's surprise, it only rang once.
"Young Midoriya? Is something wrong?"
The sound of his voice loosened the terrible knot under Izuku's breastbone. "I- May-maybe? I don't- I don't know, I think so."
There were sounds of movement on the other side of the line. "What happened?"
"I just- just woke up, and I- I think it's Danger Sense. It- Something bad is going to happen."
"I'm on my way. Is your mother with you?"
"N-no. She's at a- at a tech conference in Tokyo. She won't be back until- until tomorrow. Mr. Yagi, I don't- I don't think it's something here. I think it's later... at the school."
There was a pause. "My boy, are you quite sure?"
Izuku's laugh was just a little hysterical. "I mean, I'm- I'm pretty new to this, but..." he'd like to think his flight or fight reflex would have a more constructive response to am immediate threat. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have woken you up, I should have waited-"
"Nonsense! Forewarned is forearmed, and time is one of the most valuable resources a hero can have! I'm still picking you up, I'll just-" Mr. Yagi coughed, "-take the car instead."
"The car? You mean Hercules!?" The excitement was enough to free Izuku from his paralysis and propel him into a sitting position.
"Well, yes, but, my boy, how did you know? I don't think I've ever mentioned the name in my interviews..."
"But you did! In one of your American interviews. It was for a local station and you and Mr. Shield were on together."
"But those were in English."
"I know! When I found out about them, it really motivated me to work on my English! I think I could probably pass the Level Two fluency test..."
"Young Midoriya, have I ever told you how glad I am that you aren't a villain?"
.
"Hikage, did Danger Sense ever make you feel this bad?" asked Nana as Yoichi fussed in the background.
"Super Anxiety made me feel this bad all the time. Sometimes, it made me feel worse. I got used to it."
Nana let out a sigh of relief. It sucked to Ninth right now, but if it was normal for the quirk...
"That's good, then," said En. "Not for Ninth, obviously, but if that's just how the quirk works, he'll be able to figure it out. What did it usually mean, when you felt like this?"
"Generally, that someone was planning on killing me in the next few hours."
Dead(er than usual) silence.
"Ah," said En.
"You know," said Nana, "sometimes the kinds of lives we led slips my mind, but then the universe is always real happy to turn around and slap it back into me."
Yoichi started screeching.
.
"Do you feel any worse now that we're here?" asked Mr. Yagi after shutting Hercules down.
"Not really," said Izuku. He slumped down in his seat and looked away. "I'm sorry, I dragged you out of bed and this is probably just a stupid pointless meaningless panic attack..." He felt tears begin to prick at the edges of his eyes. He was so stupid. And selfish. All Might could be out helping people right now. Or taking care of himself (which, according to Recovery Girl's comments during their training sessions, he didn't do nearly enough of).
"Hey, hey, there's no need to cry, it's alright."
"Because you're here?" asked Izuku with a sniffle.
"Well, yes, but also, even if it was 'just' a panic attack, I'd still want to be here for you." He reached across the central console to pat Izuku on the shoulder. Then his face twisted into something rather sheepish. "But on the subject of panic attacks, something did occur to me on the way here."
Izuku looked back down at his knees. "What is it?"
"This is the anniversary of the day we met."
Izuku... had known that, actually. Waking up as he had had driven it from his mind, but the date was marked on his calendar. He'd even gotten All Might a gift, although he hadn't yet talked himself into being brave enough to give it to him, and with what happened today, it would most likely languish in his desk drawer for an indefinite period of time as the idea of giving it became progressively more awkward.
"My boy? I can't quite make out what you're saying. You're mumbling."
Izuku clapped his hands over his mouth. "Sorry."
"It's quite alright. I'm just an old man with hearing problems."
"You're not old! It's... I just- I just don't see how- how that's connected to this." He gestured at himself in all his vaguely-trembling glory.
"Young Midoriya... you almost died three separate times that day. That's traumatic. And sometimes anniversaries are... reminders."
"I only almost died once?"
"The first time with the sludge villain, grabbing on to my leg- and I don't think I ever apologized for telling you to let go, I was just so surprised- and then the sludge villain again."
"But I only almost died the first time..." He trailed off as Mr. Yagi gave him a look. He'd thought his mother was the only one who could give looks like that... "Do you really think this is connected to that?"
"I don't know," said Mr. Yagi. "Do you feel like it might be?"
"I don't know," said Izuku. He bent over and knotted his fingers in his hair.
"Do you think it might help to stay home today?"
"No!" yelped Izuku. "No," he repeated, trying to calm his racing heart.
"Alright, alright. Never fear, my boy." Mr. Yagi gave him another steadying shoulder pat. "In that case, let's go into this with the assumption that this is danger sense, and it is attempting to warn you of a real threat."
"Okay," said Izuku. He rubbed at his eyes. "What do we do first?"
Mr. Yagi tensed and looked up at the top floors of UA. "Well..."
.
"Hm!" said Nezu. "That is something of a conundrum! The extent of your quirk is unclear, and it is not properly registered, so we cannot go through the official routes we normally would for a warning given through a precognitive or clairvoyant quirk, even given that we are aware of One for All and the probable nature of Danger Sense."
Nezu knowing about One for All had been a bit of a surprise. In retrospect, maybe it shouldn't have been. All Might would have had to tell Nezu something so that Izuku was allowed on campus before he was really a student, and seeing as how All Might was originally teaching here to find a successor... well, it made sense. Izuku just wished he'd been told.
How many other people knew was a question for later, however.
"Your inexperience with the quirk and other circumstances further complicates the matter."
"Sorry," said Izuku.
"Whatever for? It isn't your fault." Nezu did not wait for an answer. "Then there is yesterday's incident to consider... You say you felt something with the reporters?"
"Y-yes, sir."
"Hm. Yes. Toshinori, I so believe you have a contact who could clear this up much more efficiently."
"I know," said Mr. Yagi. "He isn't picking up his phone."
"You don't think-?" started Izuku.
"No, no, he just hasn't been speaking to me lately."
"Oh? I was under the impression you had been communicating with him regularly since returning to Musutafu."
"He thought I would change my mind about something I didn't change my mind about, apparently. It doesn't matter. What else can we do?"
"A good number of things, luckily. Midoriya, I am going to make a series of phone calls. I would like you to tell me if the sensation you are experiencing changes at all while I make them."
"Yes, sir."
Nezu began methodically going through Izuku's list of teachers, warning them that something 'like yesterday' might happened and going over lesson plans and safety procedures. Nothing really changed. Until Nezu called Thirteen.
(Oh, gosh, they were going to go to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint on a field trip today? That was so cool!)
But after Nezu talked to Thirteen about checking safety systems, a little bit of the tension he'd been holding onto leaked away.
"Interesting," said Nezu. "Perhaps we should reschedule rescue training until-"
Izuku dove for Nezu's garbage bin.
"-or perhaps not," mused Nezu as Izuku expelled the meager contents of his stomach.
It was a good thing he hadn't eaten breakfast.
.
"Hikage," said Banjo. "I'm sorry for calling you a dead-eyed emotionally stunted bastard with a warped sense of humor if this is what you had to put up with all the time."
"You called me a dead-eyed emotionally stunted bastard?"
"Not to your face, but yes."
"Well. It isn't as if those things aren't all true..."
.
"I'm okay," said Izuku. "That just... felt bad."
"No cancelations in that case," said Nezu as Mr. Yagi hovered.
"Y-yeah. Oh gosh, now I know how Uraraka feels..."
"Perhaps you should stay home-"
"No! I can't! That would be..."
Nezu held up his hands- paws? "It was merely a suggestion. Can I offer you some tea?"
"Yes, please," said Izuku, voice catching uncomfortably on his raw throat.
"I do have a few more calls to make. Do you feel up to staying, or would you prefer to head down to Recovery Girl? Or perhaps even the cafeteria? I imagine you haven't eaten breakfast."
"I'd like to stay."
"Very well." Nezu picked up his phone again. Izuku could just make out the click on the other end when it was picked up. "Am I a mouse? A dog? A bear? One thing's for sure! I'm the principal!" There was laughter on the other end of the line. "No, not at all! I am in fact calling for you, Tensei. Or should I say, Ingenium? I'm aware this is last minute, and you were planning on taking the day off- How do I know? It was quite simple, really- but between the break-in yesterday and a tip I received this morning regarding a threat to the school, I would like a few more hands on deck than usual. Why, yes, you can stay with your brother's class. Do try not to tease Shouta too much. He has a reputation to maintain." After a few more pleasantries, Nezu hung up. "Midoriya?"
"I... think that's better? I'm sorry, it's hard to tell what could be the quirk and what's just me feeling bad."
Nezu nodded. "In that case, I do recommend that you head to Recovery Girl's office. My other calls will be similar, and the other heroes will not be with your class."
"Why not?" asked Mr. Yagi.
"Because Midoriya's reaction to the field trip being canceled suggests that the danger may not be limited to himself or his class. Oh! And one more thing. Midoriya, I noticed that you put in some costume alteration requests. Naturally, most of them will not be finished until some time next week, however, some of the support items you mentioned are fairly common. If you have time before the field trip, you should pay a visit to Power Loader."
.
Izuku hadn't expected it, but he did feel much better after eating, despite his continuing sense of impending doom. It was also about half an hour from the beginning of homeroom, so he had the time to go to the support department and check if they had anything he could take.
He hoped they had grappling hooks. Izuku had always wanted a grappling hook.
Mr. Yagi took him most of the way there, but students had started to arrive at this point, and Izuku convinced him to go prepare for classes (and hide in the staff area so that no one would wonder why he, a skeleton man not recognizable as a hero, was at the school). Before too long, Izuku stood in front of a rather sturdy-looking metal door. He hoped this was the right one.
He raised his hand to knock just as something crashed into him. Ah. This was it for sure. The way he would die. The danger he had foreseen.
No. Wait. Never mind. He was fine, just on the ground.
"Oh! There was a person there! You okay?"
"U-um," said Izuku, sitting up and rubbing his head. "I'm fine, just a little startled."
"What're you doing here, anyway?"
"I- I'm here for... support... gear?" He sort of trailed off as he looked up.
It was the intense pink haired girl from the other day. As he watched, her expression changed from one of mild concern to calculating interest.
"Support gear, you say?"
.
Shouta answered his phone as he walked down the hall. "Nezu, I've already done every security check I can think of that'll fit-"
"Not quite why I was calling, although I can see why you would think so. One of your students needs to be rescued from the support department."
Shouta changed direction without missing a beat. "It's Midoriya, isn't it?"
"Why, yes."
"Did you send him down there without warning him?"
"Yes, again. You know me so well!"
Shouta hung up.

Press SEND For Love
ERASERMIGHT (Aizawa Shouta/Yagi Toshinori)
Summary:  Shouta’s finger hesitates over the send button; he knows once he presses SEND it’ll cause chaos, and he’s not sure if he wants to endure that.

Shouta’s finger hesitates over the send button; he knows once he presses SEND it’ll cause chaos, and he’s not sure if he wants to endure that.
Yet.
He looks at a certain ex-number one hero, sitting across from him and doing his best to write up next week’s lesson plans. There’s a crease between his brows from how focused the blond is, and he wants nothing more than to reach over and smooth it.
And, maybe pull a long, blond bang just because he could.
Okay, yeah, he’ll send it.
He takes a deep breath and hits SEND. His text stares back at him as if mocking him for wanting—
A loud screech permeates throughout the building.
Soon enough, there’s a scuffle at the entrance of the teacher’s lounge before the door is slammed open revealing two huffing pro heroes.
Enter: Present Mic and Midnight.
God, maybe he has the tiniest bit of regret. But, only a tiny bit.
The duo waves off the voiced concerns from others and zero in on him, regretfully.
Shouta gives them a look. He knows them, and he can’t have them making a scene here. Granted, he knows sending them that text would set them off into a tizzy but oh well. They’re adults and professional heroes, so they can wait until it’s just them in the safety of his room.
He doesn’t even deign them with a response. Shouta simply raises his pointer finger to his lips in a shushing motion. He can tell that the lack of response is grating at them.
But, he refuses to cooperate with their wants. They’ll give him hell for it later, anyway.
“Shouta,” Hizashi whisper-yells in his left ear.
He closes his eyes and breathes. When he opens his eyes he sees Nemuri claim his right side.
“You can’t just text that and expect us not to ask,” Nemuri adds in her own irritated yet warm tone. “Shouta!”
“I expect you to do your job,” he says, shrugging them off. “Leave me alone.”
Twin yells of, “Shouta,” echoes through the room.
“Ah, is everything alright,” a small, hesitant voice asks. (Shouta knows that voice all too well.)
“No,” Shouta says, a bit too sharp even for him, but he knows he has to put a stop to whatever this will be before it happens.
“Actually,” he hears Nemuri utter. “Your expertise would be very helpful.” She finishes that by batting her lashes at him.
Yagi, bless his soul, blushes a pretty pink that makes him wonder how far down it goes because he can see it reach the tips of his ears.
“Please, ignore them, Yagi-san,” he manages to get out once his brain unfreezes itself after the reboot it had from seeing Yagi blush. “They’re being idiots.”
“Now that’s just hurtful, Sho,” Hizashi declares as he places both hands over his heart. “This is an important question!”
“It’s fine, Aizawa-kun. If I can be of help then, please, ask away.” Yagi’s closes his eyes as he smiles this soft and open smile and ugh Shouta can’t take this.
He has a limit, okay.
And, he’s at the brink of it.
“Wah, thank you, All Might!” Both Nemuri and Hizashi say.
Hizashi rounds the desks and places an arm around Yagi’s shoulders. “Now, big guy,—“ Yagi turns to face him with a serious face “—what do you think a person should do for a first date?”
The question surprises him because he can’t fucking believe his ex-friends are really doing this. Right here, right now.
“Yes! You must have some experience, right?!” Nemuri says, leaning onto Shouta as she looks at Yagi, who’s taking on a redder hue.
“Yagi-san, this is highly inappropriate, please , ignore them,” Shouta states, “I do.” He makes sure to hold eye contact with both ex-friends hoping they’ll feel his ire.
(They do, but it’s fine they’re used to it.)
“No no no, it’s fine—“
“It’s always fine for you, though, isn’t it,” Shouta snips. Can’t he just keep his damn mouth shut for one second. He feels like the bastard he is in this very moment.
His mouth seems to glitch and no words come out. Shouta knows what he wants to say and usually he’ll damn the consequences, but he doesn’t want to fuck this up even more.
But, Yagi beats him to it.
“Apologies, Aizawa-kun, I’m used to a certain mindset that I’m doing my best to revert.” The man awkwardly rubs at his neck, and Yagi looks so sheepish that Shouta can’t help but feel even worse.
“No, I’m sorry. That was shitty of me to say when I know your trying to do better.” A memory of them sitting upon a bench on a cold night comes to Shouta’s mind, and Yagi’s, ‘I’ve decided to live’ haunts him. “Please,” he rushes out, “don’t apologize.”
He can feel his his heart racing, but that could be because he’s holding his breath and totally not because it’s Yagi.
Yagi’s face goes through a series of emotions and settles on this endearing look that has Shouta feeling woozy.
“Thank you, Aizawa-kun.”
He doesn’t deserve Yagi’s forgiveness, but he’ll take it. Shouta offers a nod back l before burying his face into his scarf.
For a moment there’s an awkward silence, and it’s Yagi who breaks it.
“To answer your question, Yamada-san, apologies, but I won’t be much help—“ Yagi pulls a bang and laughs “—I’ve never been on a date before.”
Hizashi and Nemuri do the most dramatic gasp Shouta’s ever heard in his life, but he can’t blame them because what? The number one hero, All Might, has never been on a date?! This seems…fake…
“Excuse me?” Wait, did he say that?
Fuck.
Yagi boisterously laughs causing his bangs to flutter around his face, “I’m aware that it seems far-fetched, but, yes, dating isn’t something I had time for.” He shrugs in a What-Can-You-Do way.
No time? Well, that does make sense, Shouta muses. All Might didn’t become the number one by taking time for himself; this man had dedicated both his time and his health to protecting the innocent.
He feels a sharp elbow introduce itself to his ribs.
“What would you want a first date to be then,” Nemuri asks as her fingers dug into the meat of his arm, forcing him to pay attention to whatever Yagi would say.
(As if he isn’t going to mentally write down what Yagi says.)
Hizashi laughs, “Yeah, what’s a good first date for All Might?”
Yagi contemplates the question and brings a hand to rub at his pointy chin, “I suppose a picnic would be nice.” He nods his head and then looks at all them with a small smile. “Surrounded by trees! It would be intimate yet comfortable.”
The little Shouta in his head is frothing at the mouth because come on! The date that Yagi described sounds perfect. It’s both private yet out in the world; open yet  intimate .
Shouta can feel his pulse quicken as an idea hits him. He could ask. He could ask Yagi right here, right now on a date. The timing is perfect, and the text he’s sent to the group chat is burning: How do I ask Yagi out?
This! This is how he could and his mouth opens and words flow out before his brain even catches up: “I’m free this Saturday if you want to go on a picnic date.”
The question catches them all off guard, but he can’t take them back because it’s out there now.
Yagi’s face takes on this reddish hue again, and he nervously twirls a bang around his finger. “Coincidentally, I’m free this Saturday, so I would love to go on a d-date, Aizawa-san.”
“Shouta,” he says, feeling his face warm. “Call me Shouta, please, since we’re going on a date.”
“O-Of course, Sh-Shouta! Toshininori! I mean—My first name, please, call me Toshinori.”
Now, they’re just two fools with red faces looking at each other with smiles on there faces. (Shouta wouldn’t have it any other way.)
Yet, their moment is ruined by twin screams.
“OH MY GOD!”
“SHOUTAAAAAA!”
His quirk activates and he turns it on Hizashi first and then Nemuri.
The room seems to explode in congratulations and applause and fuck, he forget where they were. Goddammit.
He huffs before looking toward a sheepish Yagi—no, Toshinori—who looks so happy that he can’t help but smile, too.
Wait, what time is it. Well fuck, sucks for them.
Shouta can feel a grin spread across his face as he looks at both Hizashi and Nemuri. “Better start running,” he says, causing his two non-ex friends to pause in their jovial celebration. “Your 20 minutes late for your classes and you know how Nezu is about punctuality.”
He can see the brain cell jumping back and forth between them and then—
Off they go. They’re running for their lives.
“Heh.”
That’ll teach them for being nosy.
“Toshinori, what food do you want to bring for the picnic?”
“Oh! We can bring egg sandwiches, fruit, and I found this new brand of teas we can try together. Also—“
Shouta let’s Toshinori’s words flow through him and settle in his heart. He’s so glad he worked up the courage to ask.
(He’s grateful for his nosy ass friends.)
“That sounds wonderful, Toshinori.”

Saving Her (Ojiro Mashirao x Wolf!Reader)
Tumblr media
Part 8: A kind gesture for Aizawa gone wrong, compensated for with a ton of fluff and shenanigans by the big three. Aizawa also being 100% done with Yamada.
Word Count: 4k
Tumblr media
You were skipping down the hallways of UA, on your way to the teachers' lounge. In your hands, you held a bento box.
Sato had been teaching you how to cook. His cooking was just as good as his baking and he had taught you a bunch of skills already in the kitchen. How to peel a potato, cook rice, correctly cut vegetables and meat, the list went on. Most times, you liked to watch him, observing what he did and then tried it for yourself.
He was a very good instructor, even though he brushed off your compliments more than once. He was too humble for his own good.
You knocked on the door a couple of times, a bit louder than last time. Over time, your confidence had been building up thanks to Aizawa's guidance and the constant support you had from your friends surrounding you.
Everyone should be at Lunchrush by now, there was no reason for anyone else to be in the classroom. You had gone there initially but the room was empty and that's when you remembered that Aizawa liked to sleep during that period.
In the teachers' lounge, hidden away from the world in that same yellow sleeping bag.
Your mouth twisted down in a faint frown as you recalled how he never seemed to eat much. Even when the others invited him for dinners at the dorm, seeing as how they rotated who cooked each night, he never seemed to eat a lot or stay for very long.
That was going to change.
You heard someone say it was okay to come in, so hesitantly, you pushed open the door, poking your head inside.
"Excuse me, is Aizawa-sensei here?" You asked politely.
Midnight immediately sprung up from her seat, dashing over to you and squealing at how adorable your ears were.
Her hands, however, were halted a hairbreadth away from your fluffy ears, entwined in familiar cloth binds.
"Nemuri, we talked about this." Aizawa glowered, hair floating as he activated his quirk even though it wasn't necessary.
"Awwww, Shoutaaaaa~" Midnight sang and you offered her a sympathetic glance.
You shifted uneasily. He really didn't have to go to such lengths, you weren't that used to people doing that yet. It still felt a bit weird.
"Ah, it's okay, Aizawa-sensei!!" You stammered out after finding your voice.
"Uh huh," He grunted in your general direction, dragging his colleague over to Yamada and detangled his capture weapon, releasing his quirk.
Immediately after he made sure she wasn't going to move, he lumbered over to you. It appeared to be lethargic but you knew better. He had that same concerned gleam in his eye whenever Midoriya would get reckless or one of his other students hurt themselves.
"What's wrong?" He demanded, inspecting you from head to toe for a single scratch.
You waved frantically, then yelped as you momentarily forgot you were holding the bento box and launched it into the air by accident. Scrambling to catch it, you were successful but you crashed into the lounge with a loud thud.
Aizawa's eyes were wide, not expecting you to suddenly flop in front of him. It happened in the blink of an eye but he recovered quickly and helped you up immediately, but not without scolding you first.
"What were you thinking? You could've gotten seriously hurt." His tone was scarily even and your ears fell as it washed over you. "We talked about this, Y/N."
He didn't understand what could be so important that you were willing to risk hurting yourself.
"... 'm sorry..." You mumbled, holding up the box as a sort of peace offering. "I... This is for you."
Aizawa took it but didn't take his eyes off of you, worried that if he stepped away for a second that you would injure yourself.
Mistaking his attentiveness for disappointment in you, you found yourself high-tailing it out the door before he could stop you, holding back tears.
Present Mic approached his best friend with a frown on his face as Aizawa sat down in his chair with a sigh.
Now that he was up, he should mark these papers before the next period. The sooner he got that done, the sooner he could sleep.
Yamada's head shaking in disapproval caught his attention and Aizawa rolled his eyes, not noticing how Kayama was sneaking over to his desk from the opposite side.
"Not cool." Was all his best friend said.
Aizawa lifted an eyebrow. "What?"
Yamada scoffed and Aizawa was taken aback.
"What the hell did I do?" He demanded, rubbing his eyes tiredly. "She knows not to bother me when I'm at work by now."
He didn't mean it exactly like that.
It was just that he had talked to you about it previously, the added risks of walking by yourself to the school when it wasn't an emergency. He thought he made it clear.
But he didn't mention that the real reason was because he knew how accident prone you were and was beyond worried every single time you left the dorms.
His best friend just shot him a look of disappointment and Aizawa could feel the irritation creeping up his spine.
"What do you rather me say?" He snapped.
"It's not what you said, it's how you said it." Kayama corrected, twisting around the box that you had brought to him.
In his haze of concern that you had hurt yourself with that nasty fall, he had discarded it rather carelessly, thinking you gave it to him to hold onto while you regained your balance. In his haste, the lid was jarred, revealing the hot, steaming food inside.
Aizawa's heart twisted painfully as Kayama pushed it over to him gently, and he lifted the top off, his heart sinking even more as he saw the carefully crafted katsu curry inside.
It was clearly homemade and clearly for him and he felt awful that he didn't even thank you before you left.
"Fuck." He sowre, grabbing his capture weapon and throwing it over his shoulders.
Ignoring his friends' knowing looks, he sprinted to the door, hoping and praying he could catch you before you went back to Heights Alliance. If you had already left, he would catch up to you. You couldn't have gotten too far away from the school.
He knew that the thought that you had disappointed him would weigh you down and cause you to drag your feet. He prayed that it would work in his favor.
But he was known to have the worst luck in the world.
Running the calculations of how much time was left in the period and combining it with the fastest route to intercept you all went out the window when he threw open the door, stopping himself just in time from crashing into you.
You jumped in surprise. "Aizawa-sensei?"
He thanked the universe.
He was breathing hard and you grew worried. Then, a thought hit you and you stepped to the side, thinking you were blocking his way. He looked like he was heading out somewhere.
He growled at you. "What the hell are you doing?"
Crap, that wasn't at all what he meant to say.
You just blinked, holding up a pair of bamboo chopsticks in your hand. "I... I realized you probably can't eat without these so I went to Lunchrush and got some. I'm really sorry I came today but I was worried that you didn't bring anything to eat today and since Sato-kun's and Todoroki-kun's been helping me, I thought I could—"
Cutting off the rest of your nervous rambling, he engulfed you in a warm hug.
"Aizawa-sensei?!" You burst out, now really worried something was wrong.
He never showed affection so openly like this. You didn't know what to do.
"I'm sorry."
Now, you were really freaking out.
"W-What?!"
His arms curled around you tighter and you just stood there, unsure what this was all about. Was it the food? Oh All Might, did he hate it?
You knew it. It would've been better just to buy something and have them deliver it to the school. But you really thought that it would taste okay—
"Kid."
He stopped you from spiraling too far.
Aizawa sighed heavily, detaching himself from you and regarded you with poorly concealed gratitude. "Thank you for the food. It was very thoughtful."
He nearly cringed as the words left his mouth since he wasn't used to being so blunt in this way, but the smile that stretched across your face as he said it made it worth it.
"R-Really?! You don't hate it?!" You blurted out without thinking and in that instant, his expression changed.
Aizawa's chest tightened painfully at how innocently earnest that came out. "Kid, what the actual—"
You clapped a hand over your mouth. "I'm sorry!!"
"When did I say that?" He demanded, quite sure he never said he hated anything you made.
But as you shifted uneasily in front of him, he couldn't quell his disbelief. You thought that it wasn't good enough for him, that you had disappointed him.
Ah.
All the puzzle pieces fit seamlessly and he cursed himself for not seeing it sooner as well as for his foolishness earlier. He never was very aware when he woke up.
"I'm about to eat it now, how about you come in?" He asked awkwardly, just now noticing how he was having a conversation with you while you were still in the doorway.
You nodded and stepped inside rather shyly, making sure not to trip this time. Unbeknownst to you, Aizawa was looking for the same thing.
Midnight was nowhere to be seen now but she was most likely with Cementoss nearby. Present Mic waved enthusiastically to you from the back and you returned it rather timidly, hiding behind Aizawa before you could stop yourself.
Aizawa chuckled but made no move to pull you out into the open. He had social anxiety, too, so he understood perfectly. Everybody knew how intimidating his best friend could be with that quirk of his. It was the perfect match for his personality.
You walked over to his crowded desk, papers spread all over the place along with a handful of pens haphazardly strewn around. The bento box you had made him sat neatly in the center and you beamed up at Aizawa, tugging on his sweater not-so-discreetly.
He hid a smile at your eagerness, sitting down across from you only after he grabbed a chair for you to sit down in. Vlad King wouldn't mind.
You had to sit on your hands to keep them from shaking as he broke the chopsticks and grabbed a piece of meat from the bento box. You held your breath as he popped it in his mouth, chewing carefully.
He looked thoughtful as he swallowed it and you couldn't contain your silence any longer.
"Is... Does it taste okay?" You questioned, crossing your fingers.
You really wished you had tried it before giving it to him, but at the thought that he would end up with less made you skip over that part, leaving all your previous attempts on the counter and you finished the final product.
Maybe you should've tasted it.
But everything else melted away as a small smile tipped up the corners of his mouth and you squealed.
Aizawa wiped it off of his face. "Calm down, kid."
"You liked it!!" You cheered, dancing around him obnoxiously. "You liked it, I can't believe it!!"
"I didn't say that." He tried to reason but the damage control wasn't enough.
You were too far gone. "You really liked it!!"
"Kid, stop making so much noise." He ordered, hoping that would be enough to get you to stop shouting and dancing circles around him.
"No way, old man!!"
"Old man—?!"
His incredulous protest was cut off as you threw your arms around him, hugging him tight.
"I'm so happy." You cried, unable to stop the flow of tears after all your hard work was rewarded. "I'm so glad you liked it."
Aizawa froze for a second, taken aback by the sudden display of affection. He knew you were rather clingy, in part due to your wolf quirk, but he never expected this. Hesitantly, he returned your hug, finding that he rather liked holding you.
It made him feel like you were his daughter.
Oh All Might, you were his daughter.
You sprang back, wiping your tears with the back of your hand and he already missed you.
For a few seconds, the two of you stared at each other, a newfound understanding forming. It was disrupted as your stomach growled loudly.
Aizawa's eyes narrowed. "Did you eat anything yet today?"
Your sheepish smile answered that question for him. In your haste to get his done on time, you had skipped your own lunch.
Ignoring Yamada's snicker in the back, Aizawa gestured to the meal you had prepared for him. "Have some."
You pouted. "But, I made it for you."
"And I want you to eat some." He found himself saying even though he could easily scarf the whole thing down.
As delicious as it was, something stopped him from nearly inhaling it all.
These wretched parental instincts. Still, he supposed he was willing to accept those instincts as long as it meant you didn't go hungry.
Seeing you still hesitant to accept his offer even though you were clearly starving, he motioned for you to come closer and once you did, he dropped a hand on your head.
"We'll share, okay?" He compromised softly and you gave him a meek nod, giving into his father-like authority that left no room for argument.
Aizawa stretched out the chopsticks without thinking but you took it without pause, delicately picking up a piece of food and munching on it. It didn't escape Yamada's notice and growing curious, he sidled over, eyes glinting with mischief.
"YOOOO, Y/N!!!!" He shouted, the glass of the windows rattling from his loud voice.
You jumped at his volume and Aizawa smacked his best friend over the head, scowling at him.
"Stop that." Aizawa said, checking to make sure you weren't too shaken up by his careless colleague.
But your eyes were transfixed on Yamada as he pointed to the chopsticks in your hand.
"He used those already, here, you can use these."
In a show of good faith, or perhaps as an indirect apology for messing with you, he extended another pair of chopsticks that hadn't been opened yet.
But to both of the men's surprise, you shrugged your shoulders, grabbing one more piece of meat and eating it. "It doesn't bother me."
Both of their jaws dropped but Aizawa recovered faster.
"It doesn't?" He asked curiously.
You shook your head. "Nope, thank you though, Present Mic."
"Oh please, little listener, Yamada-sensei is fine." He reassured you quickly and you shot him that bright smile that melted his heart.
You were just about to take another bite when he interrupted you.
"Do tell me though, Y/N, how come you aren't bothered by sharing germs with this guy?" Yamada asked, poking his best friend in the face.
Aizawa scowled at him, batting him away in annoyance and you giggled, knowing it was all for show.
You rarely got to see him so at ease, it felt like you were being privileged to see a side of him that his students didn't get to yet.
"I don't know, it doesn't matter if it's family right?" You responded before your attention was taken by a particularly enticing piece of meat.
Yamada looked extremely satisfied with that, but Aizawa, he was floored.
You considered him family already?
He swallowed hard, clearing his throat, cheeks pinking slightly and giving away his embarrassment. The other man spotted it immediately and grinned.
"Yeah, it doesn't matter if it's family." Aizawa affirmed softly, making you look up.
You beamed at him, handing back the chopsticks that you had wiped clean with a napkin. "Thank you for the food, sensei!!"
He snorted. "That's my line, kid."
You giggled and the walls he had put up around his heart after years of working as an underground hero crumbled one by one.
That's it. He was screwed.
One of your fluffy ears swiveled as you faintly heard the bell chime from outside, marking the end of the free period. Everyone would be making their way to Midnight's class and since it was your day off, you had planned to get back to the dorms even though you had nothing to do.
Surprisingly, you were rather good with coursework, finishing it rather fast and nailing the topics with relative ease that flabbergasted your classmates.
The teachers had staggered your schedule around the others so that you didn't take on too much at once and this allowed you more time off than the others to compensate for your rigorous schedule.
You didn't have any classes today so that's how you had the time to make him all of this and not be worried about making it to next period.
Thinking it would be rude to ask to stay longer, you reluctantly got up, making your way towards the door. You supposed it was time to go back to the dorm and clean up the mess you had left behind in your hurry.
"Y/N."
Aizawa's low tone halted you in place and you turned around, wondering if he was going to ask something of you.
To your surprise, he gestured to the empty seat next to him.
"Want to help me grade these?" He asked and your eyes lit up.
"Can I?!" You asked excitedly.
"Sure, kid." Aizawa replied, a hint of a smirk pulling at the edge of his mouth at your enthusiasm to do something so boring as grading papers.
Pumping your fist in the air, you sped over to his side, nearly tripping yet again in the process but managed to right yourself before crashing to the ground.
Yamada leaned down and lowered his voice, mischievously whispering as you plopped down in the chair next to him. "I always wondered what it would be like if you had kids."
Aizawa sharply elbowed him in the ribs.
"Shut up." He hissed to his nosy best friend before getting to work alongside you, teaching you what to look for while you skimmed each paper.
After grading papers for a while, he turned to you. While he knew that you hadn't eaten a lot since you were busy making him such a thoughtful lunch, that didn't mean he was going to let you off the hook.
You were currently wolfing down a bowl of gyūdon that he had ordered in for you.
When you objected to the generous offering, he had flatly told you off, easing up and letting you know that he was worried you weren't taking care of yourself and warned not to do it again when your eyes watered dangerously.
You were sly and sneakier than he gave you credit for as you tapped his shoulder. "Can I make you food from now on?"
"No." Came the dry retort from the stoic man, not taking his eyes off of the essays in front of him once.
You turned your best puppy dog eyes on him. "Pleaseeeeee~"
He shot you down again, still not looking at you. "No."
Huffing, you casted a look over your shoulder, puffing out your cheeks. "Yamada-sensei, he's being mean."
Immediately, a wind picked up around you, spurred on by the outraged shout that filled the air so much so that you had to clap your hands over your ears to protect them before your eardrums exploded.
"SHOUTA, WHY ARE YOU BEING MEAN TO MY NIECE?!?!?!?!" Yamada screamed.
Thank goodness it was only the three of you left in the lounge. Midnight and Cementoss had left a while ago and Vlad King wasn't going to be back until much later.
"She's not your niece." Aizawa snapped, throwing a textbook at his face.
Yamada deflected it rather easily and pouted sadly. "But Shouta, if she's your daughter, then that makes me the uncle!!"
Aizawa stiffened, unsure how you would take being labeled as his daughter but his shoulders slumped in relief as you doubled over with laughter.
"He's not wrong." You told him teasingly and he rolled his eyes.
"You two are too much to deal with." Aizawa complained, though there was light in his eyes, giving away his amusement and dare he say it, happiness.
"Hah!! Y/N, we did it!!" Yamada high-fived you excitedly.
You giggled. Aizawa instructed you to finish your food before you helped him grade anymore and you obeyed with a cheeky smile, pushing the rolling chair away so that you slid across the floor, your bright laughter ringing out as you spun around.
Yamada bent down, resting his arm on Aizawa's shoulder as soon as you were out of earshot and occupied with your new toy.
"She's a sweet girl."
Aizawa smiled slightly. "Yeah, she is."
That was the only agreement they reached in that afternoon of craziness.
"Hey, Y/N!! Can you make me lunch, too!!" Yamada shouted over the empty office cubicles from where you were playing fetch.
Definitely not a good idea but you were so full of energy that it was either this or laps around Gym Gamma and this seemed a lot more appealing to you.
"Oi." Aizawa shot him a glare. "Don't make more work for her."
"But her katsu curry is sooooo good." He complained, a dreamy look in his eye.
You readily agreed to make him lunches too, and Aizawa's concern grew.
"You don't have to, you know." He jabbed a finger at his colleague who was reaching for the food in the background, only to be swatted away by him. "He'll survive without food. Unfortunately."
You stifled a laugh at the jab, but it burst out anyways as Yamada heard it and narrowed his eyes at his best friend.
Clutching your midsection, you doubled over when Present Mic jumped on an unsuspecting Eraserhead from behind.
"Gah, get off of me!! You're heavy." Aizawa groaned, shoving him off.
Yamada's gasp was way too over exaggerated for him to actually be insulted and you giggled when he allowed himself to be pushed off.
"Shouta, you love me~" He sang gleefully, dancing back over to him and sticking his face close to his.
"No, I don't." Aizawa expressed emotionlessly.
"WHAAAAAAAT?!" Yamada cried, bawling as he sank to the floor dramatically.
Your laughter had turned silent as you ran out of air to produce sound, tears leaking out of your eyes from laughing so hard that Aizawa actually had to rush over and make sure you were still breathing.
After that, he didn't let the loudmouth get that far again.
Once the chaos died down a decent amount, he became concerned as he realized that by making his annoying best friend food from now on, it'll be too much of a hassle.
Aizawa's thoughts ran rampant as he tried to think of valid reasons to talk you out of it.
You could fall behind on your studies. You could overwork yourself. You would make the rest of the students lazy if they caught wind of your delicious cooking.
But you brushed him off, flashing your canines as you confidently reassured him that you would be okay making both him and Yamada lunches every day.
"I can make them when I free time and plan ahead so that you have food for each week." You told him, subtly insisting that you could handle it.
Aizawa rubbed the back of his neck, thinking you shouldn't be putting so much pressure on yourself to do this for him, but in the end your determination won out and he surrendered.
But only after telling you repeatedly not to overdo it.
You hid a smile behind your hand as he resumed his work, your ears twitching as the next bell rang and you stood up to get back to Heights Alliance, collecting the empty bento box on your way out.
He might deny it if you asked him while Yamada was there, but you were quite sure that was his way of saying that he loved you.

"Shōtaaaaaaaa." A busty purple haired female threw herself at Aizawa as the group of four entered the cafe.
Izumi connected the other female quickly to Midnight, the R-rated hero. Internally Izumi was having a small fan girl moment, she never really got to interact with Midnight on a personal level before.
"Shut up." Aizawa growled at her as he tried to pry her off. "Nem, these are my classmates. Get off and let me pay." He tells the girl as he violently elbows her in the side.
Kayama yelps and let's go of him, but she recovers quickly and throws herself at Izumi.
"Oh you're so cute!" Kayama squeals as she pressed Izumi's face into her cleavage.
"Lucky." Izumi hears Shirakumo whisper behind her as Yamada laughs, the traitors.
Aizawa sighs from somewhere close and Izumi feels hands on her shoulders pulling her away from Kayama. "Nem, she needs to be able to breathe." He deadpans.
Izumi gasps for air, she knew distantly that this female had a weakness to cute things, but she had never considered herself either cute or a thing.
Feeling the hands on her shoulders push her into the direction of a booth, Izumi trips her way over before she collapses on the seat and shuffles her way into a corner.
"I know Shō hasn't told you all about me, but I'm Kayama Nemuri, I've been friends with Shō forever." Kayama bubbles excitedly.
"Shirakumo Oboro" The bluenette matches Kayama's energy.
"Yamada Hizashi." The blond offers with even more enthusiasm.
"Nezu Izumi." She herself whispers a little overwhelmed.
"Great, now you all know each other." Aizawa sighs, he looks and sounds like he regrets his choices in life.
Izumi opens her mouth to ask Aizawa a question only to squeak when she feels two furry paws on her knees.
Dipping herself under the table she saw the biggest fluffiest cat ever. The feline was a stone gray with white boots and a four point star in the center of his forehead.
Completely forgetting about the people around her, Izumi rubbed her index and middle finger with her thumb by her stomach in an invitation for the huge cat to make itself comfortable on her legs.
When the cat quickly jumps onto her lap Izumi coos a little at how big it is, her fingers are light as they bury themselves in the cat's fur.
Beside he Aizawa makes a shocked sound, Izumi looks up at him with her right eyebrow cocked in question.
"Morpheus usually avoids females, he was rescued from an abusive sorority house." Aizawa tells her, he still sounds surprised.
"Oh, like recognizes, like." She whispers without thinking. "Morpheus, the Greek god of sleep and dreams."
There is a loud squeal from the other side of the table, it's so high pitched Izumi is surprised to see that it came from Yamada and not Kayama. There is a ginger cat climbing up his arm, it's claws digging into the fabric of his jacket as it shimmies its way up.
"Dionysus…" Aizawa smirks lightly at the ginger crawling up their blond friend.
Yamada is flapping his cat free arm, he looks panicked but far too in love with the animal to remove it, the flapping hand hits Shirakumo in the back of the head hard enough to send him face first into Kayama's cleavage.
Kayama starts to cackle at the poor blue haired boy as he stutters out apologies , his face red as a stop light.
Izumi cocks her eyebrow again and looks at Aizawa who now has a short haired pure white cat draped around his shoulders.
"Selene?" She asks the black haired boy.
"Un." Aizawa grunts in affirmation. His eyes are a little too wide to come off as nonshelaunt as he wants.
Izumi gives a grunt when Morpheus shifts himself , his forepaws are now one on each of her shoulders, his head is tucked up under her chin and she can feel him purring deeply in her chest.
Izumi is lost for this massive cat.

Before You Go (All Might x Reader)
Part One/Part Two
A/N: okay, so this is gonna be pretty sad all around. Ultimately, Young!All Might x reader, but with Aizawa Shota undertones. Aizawa was giving me some mad professor snape vibes in this, and I sincerely apologize for that. I love him too but this isnt his story.
word count:4000
“Y/N, you seriously need to sign up with that energy quirk hero’s agency...shit what’s his name? It’s on the tip of my tongue,” Yamada remarked, tapping his chin as if that might help him remember. He sat at the lunch table with the rest of his friends, Shota and Oboro. Y/N was right beside him, but it seemed his words, despite being loud as usual, went through one ear and out the other.
“Don’t bother. She’s a lost cause.” Aizawa replied tiredly.
They all followed her gaze, only for their eyes to land on Toshinori Yagi. The blond walked by, carrying his food to his lunch table with his friends, people Y/N didn’t know, nor could she ever even hope to know. To be honest, Y/N was kinda sorta a loser. She was lucky that she even had friends considering she was awkward beyond belief.
“He’s too full of himself to notice you, Y/N. I’d just give up on that one,” the dark haired boy added, bumping his shoulder with the girl’s. She frowned, shaking her head to get back to reality. Aizawa was right. Not even once had the blond glanced at her or said hello. He was too cool for her. He was going to be one of the best heroes to ever exist and she was just average at best. None of her teachers ever saw potential in her, just saying that her strength was great, just that the side effects of her quirk were far too destructive.
She took a hefty scoop of rice and shoved it into her mouth, chewing grumpily.
“Come on, Y/N! It’s alright. You could just date me or Yamada!” Oboro laughed, clapping a hand on her shoulder from where he sat across from the girl.
“You don’t have to ruin my fantasies, Aizawa-kun. I know I don’t have a chance, but it’s nice to think about,” she snapped, sending a sideways glance at her friend who shrugged. He tried to tell himself it didn’t matter if Y/N obsessed over that muscle-head, but it bothered him. She was their friend: she should pay attention to them, no ogle over some narcissist. “He’s going to be the greatest hero this world has ever seen, I just know it. There’s something special about him, his quirk-”
“We get it. Toshinori this, Toshinori that. You know, if you like him so much, why don’t you go talk to him?” Yamada suggested. He wasn’t upset with her talking on and on about her crush, but he just knew Aizawa was about to burst with a couple more remarks. When she didn’t make an effort to move, he smiled knowingly. “You’re such a scaredy cat, Y/N. What’s he gonna do, bite you? If he’s a nice guy, it wouldn’t be a problem-”
“If it’s so easy, Yamada, why don’t you go find Nemuri and tell her how you feel?”
That shut him up very fast, as expected. Their cloud quirk friend broke through the tension swiftly, “Well, instead of talking about stupid crushes, why don’t we talk about our plans for this weekend? Karaoke and Barbeque, dudes! It’s gonna be awesome.”
“Oh my God, I totally forgot about that!” Y/N exclaimed, shoving more rice in her mouth so it bulged in her cheek like a squirrel. She probably should take smaller bites, but it was more fun to see how many grains she could fit in her mouth at one time. “Hizashi, I swear if you eat all the spicy pork again...”
“That only happened once-”
“Twice, actually!” she corrected, poking him on the forehead with the end of her chopstick. They laughed and all was well again, if not for her lowering self-esteem. If only Aizawa believed in her. He was her best friend, the only one who’d been there since the beginning. If he pushed her to talk to Toshinori maybe she would have the courage to actually do it.
But that wasn’t important. She had friends who actually enjoyed her company, and that’s what mattered.
The weekend was two days away, and a lot could happen in those 48 hours, she found.
_____________________________________
“Fucking useless. So weak,” Y/N cursed, staring down at her burning hands. Blisters had yet to form, but she could feel the pain of her training. She could accumulate heat from her surroundings and expel that from any part of her body. Yet, it seemed that there were more downsides than perks with this quirk she inherited from her parents. Firstly, she could not consciously choose to concentrate the heat in any one area. Usually, it did come from her hands, but often she would find other parts of her body scalding to the touch when she was using her power. Secondly, using her power at high heat would leave her with terrible burns.
Thankfully, her mother gave her bits of a regeneration quirk, meaning the burns only lasted for a couple days, most of the time less than that. Hopefully, with time, she could control the quirk so the damage wouldn’t be so bad.
She hated her quirk. It sucked. She couldn’t do anything much with it or else she would hurt herself and have to stop. Once she was burned so badly that the hospital almost had to amputate one of her limbs just from that.
Sadly, she fell to her knees on the sandy training grounds, just staring down at her hands hopelessly. How could she ever become a pro hero like this? She’d never be able to compete with the other UA students, especially people like Toshinori or Todoroki or even Aizawa.
“Shit,” she shouted angrily, shutting her eyes and slamming her hands against the sand. Her hands lit up a bright red for a quick moment as heat ran through them into the ground. Sand blew up all around her face and rocks were sent flying in all directions. As the dust cleared, she could see a small crater in the ground where she channeled her energy, it wasn’t huge, maybe enough for a person to lay in, but not much bigger.
Her hands stung terribly, and blisters started to bubble up on her skin. She was so full of adrenaline and hate for herself that the pain hadn’t entered her mind. She was just so fucking angry. She would never be good enough. Why even go to UA if she was just gonna get a job outside of the quirk realm? If anything, she’d probably get left behind to be a civilian while everyone she knew got rich and famous from quirk work.
“Hey, are you okay?” a familiar voice asked from somewhere behind her. She turned her head, tears stuck in the corners of her eyes as she drifted out of her reality into the real world. If it didn’t sting so badly, maybe she would have been more excited to see Toshinori Yagi walking in her direction. She hissed, turning back around and shaking her hands to get some cool air on them.
He jogged to her side, kneeling beside her. His eyes widened at the sight of her hands, but also at the hole she left in the ground. “That looks really, really bad. We should get you to Recovery Girl-”
“It doesn’t matter.”
He looked up to her face, his brows raised in surprise. Why would she deny going to the infirmary for an injury like this? She had to be insane, he thought. “What? Why?”
“It’ll heal soon.”
“Do you have a regeneration quirk?” he asked, but as he did so, he gently took her hands in his, which were in comparison, freezing cold. He felt like he was touching fire, but he knew his body was strong enough to handle a little heat. Her skin was already blood red, but him touching her so delicately left her feeling faint. The school’s star pupil was holding her hands. She couldn’t believe it. Even through the pain, she felt bashful.
She nodded. “Yeah, but it will take a day or two.”
“Well then, we’re going now.” He didn’t even wait for her to say anything in reply before picking her up in his arms, one behind her shoulders and the other under her knees. In shock, she could only lay there limp, her burnt hands face up in her lap. “How’d you do that anyway? You have a heat quirk, right?”
“Yeah. I just put too much energy into my hands. I have to use my quirk in moderation,” she explained. “Also, I can walk. It’s fine, you don’t need to-”
“No! You need to save as much of your strength so you can heal your wounds. Recovery Girl can’t heal you completely, I’m sure.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
He walked inside the school building and started talking again. She didn’t know for sure why he was giving her so much of his time and effort. She could have taken herself to the nurse or easily gone home. It was after class. He might have been coming out to train himself, actually. Either way, he was being extremely kind.
“I’m Toshinori Yagi. I’ve seen you around school before, you always hang with the boy with that erasing quirk.”
“Yep. He’s one of my best friends.”
“If I remember right, you’re L/N Y/N? Heat manipulation quirk? You were 4th in this year’s sport’s festival,” he smiled down at her, and she felt herself light on fire once again. How did he remember her? She was such a background character, and even if she did mildly well, her quirk and face weren’t much to remember. “You were super impressive out there, I was surprised. You seem so shy, but really you’re a powerhouse.”
“Not really. I have to hurt myself to do anything good.”
“If you could learn to control your quirk, imagine what you could do with your power?! You made that giant hole in the ground out there in a matter of seconds.” That made her feel good. People normally brought her down, telling her that she would just have to deal with it, that it was a condition of her power. For some reason, this boy believed in her. It made a bit of a smile come to her lips.
His grin felt contagious, and it only grew brighter seeing her lips curl up.
“I guess so.”
“You should let me help you out. I know a lot about control from my own quirk. We’d be a good pair, I think.”
That was when her heart officially stopped beating. He wanted to spend even more time together? He wanted to take time out his day to help her improve? She began to rethink what her friends said about the boy. He didn’t seem full of himself at all. He was generous and kind from the looks of it.
And to think she had a crush on him before. Now she felt her heart swelling up in her chest so much it might explode.
“Really?”
“Yeah, of course.”
That’s how Y/N met the famous All Might, and the moment she started her downward spiral in love with him.
_________________________________
Y/N sat at the lunch table once again with her normal squad of friends, Aizawa to her right as usual. She had one of her books sitting out on the table, a textbook Toshinori gave to her. He said that his own mentor had given that to him to help learn control and moderation of his quirk. She studied it religiously, and surprisingly, it was beginning to work. She had less and less incidents where she had to go to the infirmary or have to extensively heal herself. The training still hurt like hell, but it was less serious.
“Y/N, you’ve been studying a lot lately. Something up?”
“Just trying to get over my weaknesses. Figured I wasn’t working hard enough.”
Just as Aizawa was about to say something else, a loud, excitable voice yelled from a few meters away. “Y/N!”
It was The Toshinori Yagi, the best student at UA. To think two weeks ago, they were telling her he would never know her name. Turns out he already knew, and apparently they were friendly with each other. Oboro’s eyes widened and he elbowed Hizashi beside him, who was jamming on his headphones. Aizawa’s eyes only narrowed.
Her eyes lit up at the sight of the blond boy. He walked over to her seat and leaned his hip on the table, crossing his arms over his broad chest. “You’re really studying that book I gave you, huh? Even at lunch?”
“Of course! I have to do all I can before training.”
“You’ll be fine. You’ve been improving like crazy these past few weeks.”
These past few weeks? Just how long had they been talking?
He smiled kindly at her, and she blushed, hiding her face toward the table. It was weird for the boys to see their little Y/N talking with a boy other than them. And while two of them were ecstatic she seemed to have bagged the hottest boy in the school, one was particularly stormy about it.
“Well, I just stopped by to tell you, you look really beautiful today! You’ve been practically glowing with confidence lately; it’s a really good look on you.”
“O-Oh, thanks, Toshi-kun.”
“I just call it like I see it, Y/N,” he winked, and that sent her heart into overdrive. “Well, I’ve got to go eat, but I’ll meet you outside class later?”
“Yep.”
He left for his table with his super cool friends, leaving her sitting there a flustered, awkward mess. She shoved some rice into her mouth and chewed, trying to hide her embarrassment.
“Sooo, you gonna explain what that was?!” Yamada cried out, clutching at his chest. “Your vibes were too intense, I almost couldn’t handle it.”
She waved the boy off with her hand, trying to downplay it all. ‘It’s really nothing. He’s just helping me train. He has a really good handle on damage control, since we both have stockpile type quirks. I’ve actually gotten somewhat better since then.”
“Seemed like more than that, L/N-chan,”
“I’m telling you, he's just a really, really friendly guy. That compliment was just a friendly one.”
Aizawa sighed, leaning back in his chair. “You’re so dumb, Y/N. He seems like he’s playing with you.” He said it so matter-of-factly, and she glared at him.
“I’ll have you know he’s been helping me a lot with my training but also my healing. He’s very kind and always helps me with anything. He’s never once shown signs he’s not genuine.”
“That’s what a narcissist does to get you comfortable with them, stupid.”
“Can’t you just believe that my crush actually wants to be friends with me and help me? That he’s not just some malicious monster?” When he rolled his eyes, she stood up abruptly, grabbing her book and shoving it into her bag. He sat up quickly and went to grab her wrist, but she moved out of the way swiftly.
“Aw, come on, L/N. Dudette-” Yamada whined, but he knew that Aizawa’s jealousy was getting to the tipping point for the girl. Years went by of him just pushing her away from other guys who liked her and were genuinely kind. Whatever Toshinori was doing with her seemed to give her enough strength to reject the boy’s malice words.
A little bit of him was even proud, the loudmouth admitted to himself.
 She kept her head held high, eyes glaring down at the long-haired scruffy boy. He’d never seen her like this: standing up for herself. If she were angry at anyone else, he would be cheering her on, but now he just felt furious. How could she be angry with him? He’d been there since they were children and she just leaves because of some blond himbo.
Her words cut clear in the bustling lunchroom. “I don’t need any negativity right now, Aizawa. If all you want to do is bring me down, then so be it.” After slinging her bag over her shoulder and grabbing her tray, she waved and walked away. As they watched her, she approached the table of her new friend, who greeted her happily. She sat next to Toshinori with a smile on her face, one that Aizawa hadn’t seen directed at him in weeks.
Maybe he was wrong to be bitter, but he just couldn’t believe there wasn’t some conspiracy to all this. How is it that the coolest guy in school goes for Y/N? He thought she was amazing, he had for years, but no one else ever thought that.
Whatever, it didn’t matter anyway. She could do whatever she wanted, and if she got her feelings hurt, so be it.
_________________________________
The pair sat outside the school as always. She munched on an icecream bar from the cafeteria while he leaned back, arm across her shoulders and his eyes drawn to the sky, fading from dimmed orange into deep violet. He had guilt hanging over his head the past few weeks, and it was finally time for him to explain himself.
“I can’t believe we’re done. School went by too quick.”
“I think it goes by faster when you’re fighting evil a couple days a week.”
She nodded, humming in agreement. Her senior year was full of battles, emotional and physical. She was broken to bits when her friend Oboro died or when Toshinori was left to mourn his mentor and they only had each other. Being a hero comes with a cost, but no one expects to be 17 and watch the people they love die all around them. It’s worse when you’re strong enough that you know you could have saved them but you just didn’t. “It was worse than I imagined. I know we’re going to do this for our whole lives, but I don’t want it to hurt as much.”
“That’s why you have to always be better than the villains, Y/N. I know I’m going to be.”
 She tucked the clean popsicle stick into her bookbag when she was done with it, not wanting to throw it on the ground. Her hand found its way to his, curling her smaller fingers gently around his. Her smile was all too bright, a trait of his that seemed to grow on her the longer they spent together. “We’ll do it together, right? You and me on top of the charts, just like we dreamed of?”.
He relished in the warmth of her hand pressed to his, even if it was just a friendly. He was going to miss moments like this, dreams of the two of them...All that planning for nothing. He sighed, his eyes going from the sky to the dirt beneath their feet. “Y/N, I have something to tell you.”
With a furrowed brow, she asked, “What’s up?” It couldn’t be bad...
“Tomorrow I’m leaving for America. I don’t know how long.”
“What do you mean you’re leaving for America tomorrow?” Y/N asked her best friend, eyes wide with fear. He knew he should have told her earlier, but he couldn’t explain why he was leaving, and he knew the more time she knew the greater chance he would reveal the reason. She couldn’t know about All For One. It would only put her in danger.
He sighed, placing a heavy hand on her shoulder. “I have to go to America. I’m really sorry I didn’t tell you before-”
“I can’t believe this. You waited until the day before to tell me I’ll basically never see you again. You expect me to be satisfied with a two minute goodbye today and just forget about you- about everything?” she asked, a stone sinking to the pit of her stomach. She felt like she was going to cry or get sick. How could he do this to her?
“I know. I know. I should have told you sooner but I couldn’t.”
“Why?”
“Y/N, I’m sorry, I just can’t tell you.”
That answer wasn’t good enough. It was wrong to pry, but the betrayal was too much for her to handle rationally.
She turned her head away from him, staring bitterly at the wall beside her. She refused to meet his eyes. “I thought I could trust you.You’re one of my closest friends, Toshi, but now I know you don’t care. If you cared you would have at least given me a heads up, maybe spent more time with me before you just decide to abandon me,” she sneered, the anger building up in her chest. “You’re too good for someone like me. Shota-kun was right this whole time. Everytime he told me you were just playing with me, that you didn’t actually care about me; he was right, wasn’t he?”
All Might shook his head, trying to reach out to grab her, bring her back to his side. He didn’t want her to turn against him now. He didn’t want to say goodbye with her hating him, her last memory of him being so terrible. Still, she jumped away from her seat, stumbling over her feet to get away from him. “Don’t touch me.”
“Y/N, please. I just want this goodbye to be happy.”
“Goodbyes are never fucking happy, Yagi. You’re so stupid.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.”
“How could you not?” Y/N bit back her sadness, letting anger take over. “Just forget it. It’s not worth fighting over. You’re leaving, so goodbye. Maybe we’ll see each other again, maybe not. But just know, I would have done anything to stay by your side if you really cared about me.” With those words lingering in the air, she turned on her heel and started to walk away.
“Y/N, please don’t go yet,” he paused, trying to gather himself. She was walking away, her back turned and her head hung.  “I love you.”
But she didn’t turn around. What was the point now? She’d lost him already, no use in saying anything back or confessing her love as well. He would still be leaving tomorrow, and they would probably never see each other again. It would break her heart to run back there and hug him, confess her long time feelings to the boy. They were never an item. Maybe if he stayed, they could have been something more.
If he really loved her, he wouldn’t leave her behind. If he really loved her, he would have shut his mouth before those three little words, and saved her the broken heart.
Part Two is up!

Oboro Shirakumo as a Boyfriend
Pairing: Oboro Shirakumo x F!Reader
Summary: the title of this here post
Warnings: angst :((, fluff, happiness, Shirakumo being best boi
BF Scenarios Masterlist
BF Scenarios Tag List
@thedreadthreadanomaly, @seiiblue
HMU if you want to be added!
Tumblr media
Soft. Just soft
Oboro Shirakumo might be dead, but he is alive in my heart and his memories live on in Aizawa and Hizashi
These HC’s will be written as though he is still alive
On that note, let’s begin
Oboro is quiet and fidgety around you before he confesses. He’s so confused! On every other occasion, he knows just what to say and how to say it. But whenever you’re nearby, his throat dries up and he’s blushing too much too even look at you. Oboro is just so ready to burst with his affections and tell you how much you mean to him
He talks about you all the time to Yamada, Aizawa, and Kayama
Kayama easily squeezed your true feelings for Oboro out of you and nearly ran to the cloudy boi who was snickering at one Yamada’s jokes
She grabbed him by the back of his shirt and yanked him over to where you were sitting, hands covering your flushed face
“Now speak!” Nemuri Kayama forced your long-time crush into a chair very very close to you, “I want to hear both of you love birds confessing and date plans! Get a move on! I’m listening!!!”
Oboro coughed, carding pale fingers through his mop of cloudy blue hair. “Y… Y/N? I… um… Can I t-tell you something?”
“O-Of course Shirakumo.”
“If you couldn’t tell, I like you… a-a lot.”
“I like you too Shirakumo. Like, as more… more than just a friend. I never had the guts to tell you and Nemuri will be mad if I didn’t tell you, s-so…”
“You do?”
“M-hm.” You bit the inside of your lip and fisted the hem of your pleated skirt, not knowing what to say next.
“Do you wanna go out with me?” He asked, his mischievous, sweet smile lighting up his face.
A shaky smile of your own accompanied by the flush of your cheeks made Oboro fall in love with you all over again when you lifted your head and nodded happily.
You were shaking, but it definitely wasn’t from fear. Excitement and pure happiness were the only possible ways to describe your mental state right then.
He’s such an uplifting 😉😉 and happy boyfriend, running toward you in the halls only to pick you up and spin you around
He can do that
Oboro Shirakumo is huge
Your six-foot-one-inch big spoon
Oboro’s favorite thing to do is to sit against the headboard and pull you between his legs, crossing his arms over your tummy while you slouch against his muscular chest
Uses clouds to comfort you when you’re unhappy
Cloud forts - pillow fort upgrade
Cloud pillow fights - pillow fight upgrade, plus they’re super fun when Yamada, Aizawa, and Kayama join in
You help him with homework because he’s kinda dumb
A firm believer in “Kisses make everything better”
He is a bad liar and physically can’t lie to you
“Did you eat my hummus Oboro?”
“Ummmmm no?”
*eyebrow raise*
“aaAA fine! I’m sorry! It looked really yummy so I ate it! Forgive me Y/N!”
He eats sushi (and other chopstick foods) with either a fork or his bare hands
Runs into walls and doors and windows because he wasn’t paying attention (nose bandage theory number 19834)
A family man. Your mom, your dad, and all of your sibs (if any) can’t help but love Oboro because first of all, he’s super hot, and secondly, he’s so impossibly friendly and sweet
Big on PDA - Does your cheek look like it needs a kiss? Done. He will lean down (cuz he’s effing huge) and kiss you to make you giggle
Tickle fights to the death
If he sees kids HOOO BOY
“Babe, do you think we could make some of these little nuggets someday? Look how cute and fun they are! They’re so adorable too! Can we make one? Pleeeeeeeeeeease?!?”
“Oboro, I’m (age). We’re too young to have kids.”
“I know that. Come on I’m not that dumb.” He pouts, squeezing your hand, “Just one day, I want a little baby and I wanna have one with you.”
That irresistibly sweet grin of his melts your heart and you squeeze his hand back, “Are you proposing Oboro?”
Are you going somewhere and your feet get tired? (Walking home from a date, going home from the mall, etc) Oboro is the king of shoulder rides, lifting you up with ease and letting your plush thighs settle around his head
The best at giving hugs and making you feel better
Worships the ground you walk on
Carries your books from class to class on a little cloud whether you like it or not
Probably has a few glitter pens in his pencil pouch
His cheeks are so soft and squishy → so when Oboro is being his dumb self, you pull on them
Likes pigeons because they’re dumb and cute like him
Human: *walks toward a pigeon*
Pigeon: *walks away and the same speed if not less*
Human: *walks faster with hands out*
Pigeon: Oh LeT mE jUsT wALk FaStEr *waddles*
OboroPigeon: OOOOOH IT’S A HOOMAN *peck* *peck* HOOMAN HOOMAN WHEEEEEEE
Don’t ask
Nose kisses
Absolutely no boundaries → Oboro will flop into your lap and grin at you until you sigh and pet his hair, wrap his arms around your torso and rest his head on yours, grab your hand for no reason in the hallways
Falls asleep on top of you rather than next to you and you always get some of his fluffy, sweet-smelling hair in your mouth
Sings in the shower
Ambidextrous and can write with both hands at once
Oboro was the type of person to go the extra mile when someone or something needed help. You were one lucky gal.

Hello there! I’d like to submit a couple of my own fics for Spotlight Sunday please, plus one I’ve read recently which needs more love.
My fics:
Title: Together We Are Strong
https://archiveofourown.org/works/23648248
The remaining Rooftop Boys are left reeling in the days following their friend’s death. Nemuri Kayama, aka Midnight, must deal with one's illness and another's self-imposed isolation, while struggling to cope with her own grief.
Title: Ultimate Move: Heartbeat Distortion!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/29109339
Jirou seeks assistance while developing her ultimate move.
Recommended fic:
Title: To Noisemaking
Author: iguessyouregonnamissthepantyraid (I believe they also have a tumblr under the same name)
https://archiveofourown.org/works/28696845/chapters/70354734
“We believe it is possible,” Nedzu says, “that whoever led the attack on Present Mic did so not in spite of his powerful Quirk, but rather because of it.”
“Because of it?” All Might repeats.
“You think someone’s trying to—?” Nemuri says, then covers her mouth with both hands. “Oh, God.”
“It is… not outside the realm of possibility,” Tsukauchi says, and again he directs that horribly sympathetic look in Shouta’s direction, “that Present Mic was taken by someone who intends to use his Quirk for their own purposes. Whether that involves the kind of work Doctor Garaki was doing remains to be seen, but… as of now, it can’t be ruled out.”
(Or: Yamada gets abducted, Aizawa maybe loses it a little bit, Yagi worries, and a few of the students take matters into their own hands.)
This story was seriously so good to read! Action, adventure, angst, and we got to see different sides of several characters, all of which were written really well. I spent so many days constantly checking for updates throughout its publication, cause I was so excited to read the next chapter!

Caffeinated drinks, black dots and I should’ve stayed at home
Kanene’s Notes: Heya, heya awesome beans! Howz you are all doing?!
I am very glad that I finally finished this idea dfghjkderty. Shinsou was the second character that my mind screamed that I NEEDED to put in a cat cafe and kjhgtrertyu I think that one is a litol more funny and fluff than hurt/comfort, like the one with Midoriya, but worry not! In the end of the day one more kid is adopted :D
Warnings, fun facts, random things and stuff:
* That fanfic has Dadzawa and Yamadad and their relatonship can be seen as romantic, if you wish.
* This happens in the same universe as This Fanfic Here and you can also find it on AO3.
* There is passing out due exhaustion, sleep deprivation and cursing, but besides that i don’t think that there are any more warnings. This is more funny and fluff.
* This characters do not belongs to me. They all belongs to the amazing the manga/anime Boku no Hero.
* Something around 2.500 words. -w-)b.
* Sorry for any spelling, pontuation and grammar mistakes! Any advice is very very welcome!
* Tô com preguiça de postar a versão em português brasileiro aaaa! Oh!! If you have an idea for another scenario in this universe, hmu! I would love to hear it !!Thankys so much for reading this. Take care! Drink water! Eat well!! Pet a cute animal today!! And please sleep a bit, okie? <3 Byeioo!~
                         [~*~]
Shinsou blinked for what it felt the fifth time on the last minutes, which was probably the same amount a normal human being was supposed to blink but right now it just felt wrong. He rubbed his stinging eyes again, suppressing another yawn, firm on his purpose to concentrate his brain enough on the task of remembering his order, an almost impossible action by the way a growing headache involved his mind since he woke up.
The teenager focused again on the colorful, full of doodles of paws and whiskers menu, wishing for the first time in nearly two months attending the place that the drinks’ names were objective and direct, and not awful cat puns that made his braincells prefer to combust themselves instead of gathering the necessary information to remind him of the beverage he should ask.
 He squinted his eyes, dots appearing in the air. Hm. Definitely not a good sign. Maybe he should order two of the most caffeinated drinks instead of just one? He stared the menu again, frustration flaming on his veins as the words blurred and lost their signification, dancing together with the café’s lights.
 And it was only 7 AM.
Perhaps he should have stayed home, on the safety of his bed and the darkness of his room. He knew he should have cancelled his training.
 And yet, even thinking about that possibility made Hitoshi’s stomach be consumed by anxious tugs and knots, leaving an unpleasant taste of displeasure on his mouth. His trainings were one of the best moments on his entire week. They were events he would catch himself smiling as he thought about a newest move he learned or how his body seemed to recover quicker from the lessons. Or even how good, how right and free he felt on the gym, tired and sore, in the moment that his mentor nodded, proudness flicking in his eyes.
 … How amazing it felt to look at the mirror and see that same feeling reflected on his own gaze.
 He couldn’t deprive himself of that sensation, even if dealing with the painful consequences of his sleep deprivation and probably a lecture if his mentor caught him was the only other options.
 “Just one more. Just one more person and then I can ask for the strongest caffeinated shit here.” Yeah. This time those cups would be enough to make him endure at least his afternoon classes, he repeated to himself in mumbles. Two cups. Two cups and some minutes petting a cat and he would be ready. He would be ready for the world and society and the whole being a functional human being thing. And then he would get on the metro and nap until he gets home where he would have the real opportunity to properly sleep. Almost there. Just two cups. Two. Two cups.
 Gosh, he probably sounded like Midoriya, mumbling non stop like this. A mental image of the energetic teen looking as tired as Shinsou and drinking coffee as if his life depended on it popped on his brain, leading to a sudden urge to giggle manically take over the purple haired boy, and for the way some other customers eyed him warily he possible vocalized that impulse as well, limbs feeling at the same time too much heavy and too much light.
 He was so fucking tired.
 “Next one!” Loud. So loud. Shinsou obligated his body to step closer, opening his eyes enough to realize that dark spots still painted his vision. Huh. When did he close his eyes, again? “Good morning, little customer! How can I help you today?”
 Hitoshi stared at the figure in front of him, senses slow like he was under water, trying to understand the distorted sentences being directed at him, the dots growing and twinkling. Black dots were supposed to be able to do that?
 The world swayed a bit under his feet. He tried to move his lips but they didn’t obey him.
 “Little customer?” The voice sounded worried, and maybe that is what compelled the boy to take a deep breath, putting all his will in forming word after word when a nauseating wave of tiredness hit him, leading his conscience’s grip in reality weaken.
 “I am going to pass out.”
 And then the world got completely black, his senses disappearing together with a background screech.
 Well, fuck.
 […]
 Yamada had seen a lot of crazy, strange things while working at the cat café.
 As example that one shift when an adult of blue hair, strict pose and clear exhaustion dripping in waterfalls from his form was convinced that he was in a library and fiercely tried to return a book to them, doesn’t taking a ‘no’ as answer until the blond was left stupefied with a book of “The Secrets Hidden in The Bottom of The Ocean” on his arms.
 Or that occasion when a boy with a blank expression wearing Victorian clothes and completely surrounded by crows opened their door, looked from a side to another, stared at the deepest parts of Yamada’s soul, analyzing all his dark fears and secrets before slowly blink and say “Wrong store, my apologies” walking back and calmly ignoring the hissing and battle yowling of dozens of cats and crows.
 Or the day a green haired woman with a kind, calm aura just walked behind the counter completely unphazed by Hizashi and Aizawa’s unbelieved looks, made two healthy snacks, patted their cheeks saying ‘You two need to eat more, dears’ and then disappeared as if nothing had happened.
 However, none of those events ever prepared him for the moment which purple eyes would stare his in an unfocused state, not really looking at anything and a wobbly smirk – if he wasn’t accustomed with Shouta’s grin, he would easily call it ‘creepy’ – would paint his customer’s pale face, the silence ringing alarmingly on his ears.
 “Are you okay, little listener? Do you want to sit for a minute? You look extremely tired.”
 As the words came out of his lips, a spell seemed to break, the other’s face getting even paler, smile falling and eyes widening leaded his body to stumble forward instinctively, something on his guts screaming for him to get ready. A few other customers on the line grumbled in impatience, looking at their watch and protesting. Somewhere, in the deep part of his brain, Yamada wondered why those things only happened when Aizawa was out and no procedures for those kinds of situations were previously discussed on their contract.
 “Hey, guy,” a blonde teenager behind the paralyzed one said, tipping forward in an attempt to catch the other’s expression, his kimono following each move, “are you… here with us?”
 “Little listener?”
 A hesitant poke on his cheeks, two pair of eyes warily watching a third.
 His mouth finally moved.
 “I am going to pass out.” His voice was light, stitched together by certain. His legs trembled under his own weight, body collapsing.
 “You WHAT?” A terrified shriek mixed itself between Hizashi’s words, flying across the whole store.
 “Oh, shi-”
 His blonde client didn’t waste a second before holding the other, arms locking under his armpits in a strange kind of hug, knees weakening with the sudden, unexpected effort, the limp teenager not even flinching with the touch, laying there completely motionless.
 Hizashi blinked, gulping, adrenaline exploding on each one of his fibers, color slightly draining from his own face, a piece of his conscience wishing with all its strength for this to be only a dream. When his eyes opened, everything would be the same.
 He blinked, the deafening silence still crushing the room, one set of black eyes staring at him in confusion and growing panic, another set closed, heavy, dark circles under it.
 Right. He didn’t have time for this.
 So, he blinked again, finding himself in front of them both, pushing his feelings under a mask of a calm, an easy reassuring smile already slipping on his face, crouching to get the legs of his customer, catching the gaze the other and winking, “let’s get him on a more comfortable position, right?”
 A determined nod, quick, careful steps as they both laid the purple haired one on a small couch placed under some shelves, having to gently dislodge three sleeping cats, who hissed in irritation. The voice of Nemuri, attending the rest of the line filling the space and being acknowledged in the back of his mind, serving as a firm ground and helping his muscles to relax, even if just a little bit.
 Hizashi stared the young boy in front of him, looking somewhat peaceful, a bit of color having already returned to his face, soft snores coming out from him.
 … Hitoshi. That is his name, right? He wasn’t a new client, always coming at every fifteen days, always by morning and always caffeinated drinks that only Yamada - on his most delirious moments - ever thought in trying, quick to go to play with any feline who appeared in front of him. Although, he never stayed more than ten minutes, the quiets ‘bye’s he gave to the felines never failing to melt Yamada’s weak, bleeding heart.
 A childish voice pulled him right out of his thoughts.
 “Mom, is he dead?”
A snort escaped his lips before he could help it. Kids.
 “Sir?” The teenager shook a small device with a shiny screen in front of him, the logo of a new rock band he hadn’t a chance to listen to yet on the background “I found his phone, I think we should call his emergency contact…?”
 “Of course! Thank you, little helper!” He ruffles his hair, flashing a smile and thumbs up as his finger quickly clicked on the call button, listening, not trying to show his impatience as it ringed.
 “You’re late.” A tired voice answered him, and Hizashi felt his entire body relax completely, right before the surprise shook its frame, too much pieces clicking together in a puzzle he didn’t even know he was solving.
 “SHOU?”
 [~*~]
 “I am sorry.”
 “You will be writing a formal letter apologizing to Hizashi, Nemuri and to me, our classes will be cancelled for this week and, if I notice you didn’t recover properly on this free time, for the next week as well. I am not going to stand by and watch you running yourself to the ground, damaging your potential because you lack of some sense of self preservation, do I make myself clear?” Shinsou tried to not visibly flinch at his sensei’s words. He almost forgot how much intimidating Aizawa could be when totally serious. They stopped by the Cat Café’s door, the black eyes staring at him.
 “Yes, sir.” He answered, lowering his gaze. Shouta sighed, his worry stopping to come out as harsh and necessary words to materialize itself in the form of him patting the boy’s head, messing his hair for a few seconds before opening the door and getting into the establishment.
 “Good. Now come in, Hizashi has been worried and he won’t stop pestering me until he sees with his own eyes how you are.”
 Hitoshi didn’t had time to question how someone that he just met – if you consider passing out in front of him a proper meeting – could be worried about his well-being when, as the door clicked behind him, an excited screech filled the room, forging the realization that maybe that weird high sound before his faint wasn’t just the ring of his ears.
 “SHINSOU!!” And, in a blink of eyes, the blonde was in front of him, hands on his face, turning it from a side to another, up and downwards, “You look so much better with some color on your face! I am glad that you finally took some necessary rest, huh? Your eyeshadows even got lighter, which, phew, is such a relief! For a very terrifying moment there I almost thought you would be as bad as this guy right here.” Yamada locked his arms around Aizawa’s shoulder, using the time to take a breather and smile, gladly giving the younger some time to process the flow of words thrown at him. “You gave us both quite a scare, kiddo.”
 “I am deeply sorry for inconveniencing you and interrupting your work, Yamada-san.” He bowed, a slight embarrassed blush dusting his cheeks.
 “Just please don’t do that again and you will be fine, little customer.” Hizashi then squinted his eyes on his direction as Hioshi brought himself back to his previous position, shoulders tense and straightened back, much different from his previous more slouched pose. Yamada’s eyes got a few inches wider. “You gave him The Talk!” He turned himself to Shouta, his excited sentence, loud enough to probably making his friend deaf, if the black haired adult wasn’t already used with the other’s attics, previously covering his ears before the outburst.
 His response was a grunt, Aizawa dislodging himself from his touch with scoff and half heartedly mumbles, ignoring the confusion on his pupil’s gaze. “Maybe he looks like that because of your total disregarding of personal space.”
 “Don’t worry,” Hizashi put his hand at the side of his mouth, as if he was confiding Shinsou’s a secret. “He only does that because he is worried about you, too. Don’t let yourself to be fooled by his grumpy façade. He is a mother hen at heart.”
 “I am going to lock you outside and give all your CD’s to the kittens a their new toys.” The other threatened, going behind the balcony and turning the coffee machines on, preparing the store to open. The few cats who were already wandering around the place yowled and meowed in despair, as if the blonde hadn’t feed them fifteen minutes ago and they were starving under the hands of such unloving and uncaring creature. Aizawa crouched and distributed the treats hidden on his pockets for everyone of them, nevertheless. His friend used the distraction to mouth a ‘see?’ at the younger’s direction, eliciting a snicker from him, his body language more relaxed.
 “Feel free to do whatever,” Aizawa proclaimed, not staring at the boy, who felt a flower of warmth blossom on his chest. “Just be sure that all your homework is completed by lunch time or the moment you decide to go. Sushi is probably napping now, but when she wakes up, I will warn you.”
 “But first,” Hizashi clapped, capturing the attention as he walked with a dance on his step to the bakeries, taking two plate on his way. “breakfast! For you both. And that means something substantial and not just a cup of coffee.”
 Shinsou startled from the table he decided to place himself, shaking his head. “Yamada-san, it’s okay, you don’t need to-”
 “Nonsense, nonsense! I want to. Eating breakfast alone is just sooo boring, you know?” Hizashi spun on the place, almost throwing the muffins and breads around as Ochaco used his distraction to attack his shoelaces. “Uravity, stop, I need those.”
“Her name isn’t Uravity.” Shouta appeared again, bringing drinks and yawning, his focus changed to the boy’s. “Better give up. I’ve been fighting against him for years now.”
 “Also, her name is Ochaco Uravity Fluffy Second and you just refuse to call her that because you’re just jealous of how much genius I am.”
 “I refuse to call her that because I care for her sanity.”
 “Lies, lies.”
 Hitoshi snorted, hiding his smirk behind his hand. “I prefer his name better, sensei.”
 Aizawa watched them high five between the cheers of the blonde with an unimpressed expression. “Cheeky brat.”
 “You’re just grumpy because he has a good taste. Friendship ended with Shouta, now Shinsou is my new best friend.”
"I am truly devasted." Aizawa deadpanned, taking a long sip of his beverage, hiding his smirk as Shinsou snorted, Yamada's dramatic wailing in the background.
 And, as the playful bickering engulfed them between the warm food and purrs, Hitoshi decided that maybe losing his weekly training wasn’t so bad if that was what waited for him.

Word Count: 2,058
Warnings: Language, big anxiety
A/N: So here’s chapter one! This is the first My Hero fic I’ve ever written and published, so I hope everyone who reads it enjoys it! Now, there’s gonna be a lot of chapters. I’m not sure how many yet, but it will be updated every week, so every Saturday (where I live) is when I will upload! There will also be a tag list, so let me know if you would like to be on it. I have a lot of ideas for this, and I hope I’m able to translate them through writing. Anyways, please enjoy!
UA Idol Masterlist
───────────────────────────────────
You anxiously picked at the number stickered onto your thigh. “Mina, I really don’t think I should be here, this is a lot,” you mumble, motioning your head to the camera crew in front of you setting up. “Oh shush, (Y/n/n). The only reason they’re interviewing us is because we’re cute and are friends and they’re hoping one of us will get through while the other doesn’t and there will be drama, and we both know that if that happens there will only be support. Although I think we’ll both get through. You especially.” You snort at her enthusiasm and shake your head. “Definitely not, but okay. Whatever you say.”
“Okay! Give us your name and where you two are from and if you have any specific reason you’re here.”
“Well, I’m Mina and I’m from Tokyo, and this is (Y/n) and she’s from (hometown). We’re actually roommates and best friends, not to brag, but I’m really here to support her! She’s amazing!”
“Literally shut up, Mina you’re better than me,” you mumble, rolling your eyes at your enthusiastic best friend. “I most definitely am not! Besides, this is a great fuck you to your ex. You know the one who told you that you would never be able to become a singer and shit on you every opportunity he got.”
“Yeah. Thank you for bringing him up.”
“Yes! Thank you for bringing him up! Could you talk about him a little more? If that’s okay?”
You stare at the producer and sigh. “Yeah. Sure, whatever. I had a boyfriend a while back who didn’t support me in my artsy ways. Since he was older, he would always make sure I knew that he thought it was a childish hobby, and that I should grow up and do something that I would actually be able to survive on. He kind of ruined my love for music, but after he broke up with me, I got it back since it was how I coped with it.”
“So, you’re here to get back at him? Show him what you’re made of?”
“Well, no... but that would be pretty dope, not gonna lie, he can go fuck himself,” you say, with a small smirk on your face. After a few more questions about your ex-boyfriend and yours and Mina’s crippling student debt, the producers wander off to someone else. “They are totally using your story for television,” Mina says, and you scoff. “They only use stories for people who they want the audience to vote for, I know how these shows work,” you say, glancing around and having your eyes land on the next poor soul the producers trapped. Looked like it was a very sleepy purple haired e-boy. Damn. He’d for sure make it through if this competition was based off of looks alone. How the hell were you supposed to compete with people who looked like that. “I don’t think I should be here, Mina,” you mumble, tearing your eyes away from him. Unbeknownst to you your gaze was replaced by his as his quick little interview ended. “What? (Y/n), stop with that! What were you just looking at that made you even think that?” Mina asks, frantically searching around. “Well the producers were-”
“Oh my god! Denki?! (Y/n), that’s one of the guys I was really good friends with when we were in high school, come on you have to meet him,” Mina cuts you off, literally dragging you over. “Mina?! Why didn’t you tell me you were gonna be here?! We have phones you know,” You watch the blonde with a black streak in his hair tackle your best friend in a hug with an unamused expression. You didn’t want to meet anyone. You were tired. The anxiety of this situation kept you up all night long. Then again, staying up all night was normal for you. At least you looked bomb though. You felt the burning sensation of someone staring at you, so naturally you turn your head in that direction. Your eyes were met with the back of the purple haired boys messy head, but no one was looking though, so you shrug it off. Probably someone just scoping out the competition or something. “Denki, this is-”
“Contestants number 14788 and 14789? Follow me please,” a producer cuts off Mina and you feel a wave of anxiety wash over you. You grip the neck of your guitar tighter than you had been gripping it before. It’s not performing that makes you nervous, it’s performing in front of the panel of world-renowned judges that makes you nervous. And try as you might you can’t hide it. “Oh, shit, sorry Denki, I’ll talk to you after, okay? See ya!”
“Break a leg, Mina,” Denki says as Mina links arms with you and pulls you along with her happy steps. “I’ll introduce him to you after we both make it, I wanna know more about his friend anyways, so he better not leave until I interrogate him,” she starts rambling and you laugh a bit. “Awww, does Mina have a crush on the purple haired boy? Pink and purple go well together, you know.”
“No, she doesn’t. She thinks that you would look great with him though.”
“No. Not happening.”
“Come on, (Y/n), you gotta put yourself out there! It’s been two whole years since he who shall not be named broke up with you, you can-”
“Mina. Drop it. Please.”
“…Okay. So, I’m going first. hopefully I come out with a golden ticket, but if I don’t don’t let that psych you out, okay? You got this you crazy talented bitch,” Mina says, trying to lighten the mood. She knows you don’t want to be in a relationship ever again after what happened with your ex, but she can’t help it. She loves playing matchmaker and she just wants you to be happy. Recently you’ve been a little sadder the usual, so she’s concerned. It was like she turned back time to when you two first moved into your apartment and you were dealing with school and your douche of an ex. She knows you find Denki’s friend attractive, he’s 100% your type and you two would look amazing as a couple. Not to mention that his friend just so happened to be staring at you at any moment you weren’t looking in his general direction. Not able to read her mind going 100 miles a minute, you just nod at her words as you come face to face with the most famous emcee there is. Hizashi Yamada. Better known as his stage name, Present Mic, PM for short. “HELLO!!! You two look amazing! You ready to become the next UA Idol or what?!” he says, way too enthusiastically. You always wondered just how loud he was in real life, and he rivals Mina. That’s saying something. “I’m totally ready!” she responds, and you laugh at PM’s face when he realizes she’s just as loud, if not louder, than him. “So, you’re both auditioning, right? Are you going together? Separate?”
“Separate, we’re just here to wait outside for moral support,” Mina responds, and he nods. “Awesome! Well, tell me your names! If you two get through to Hell Week there’s a good chance you’ll be televised, so I would like to just talk for a minute!” he says, and you both introduce yourselves again. “Amazing! I’m assuming you two are great friends, I mean you must be pretty important to each other to have it just be you two with no partners or family or anything coming. Reminds me of me and Aizawa!”
“Yeah, but we’re just best friends actually! And roommates, we moved here away from our families and we’re both single, so all we have is each other,” Mina says, pulling you into a quick little squeeze. Present Mic screams something about how adorable that was before wishing Mina luck and sending her in. Shockingly, you’re both quiet as you hear her audition begin, and unsurprisingly, she flawlessly hits all the notes in Lady Marmalade. Her voice isn’t only loud when she talks, after all. PM’s eyes go big as he points at the door, looking at you and mouthing “She’s really good!” You just grin and nod. This isn’t news to you. After hearing her blast Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey all the time and belting out their runs and matching their high notes for about three years, it’s not shocking to you how great she can sing this song. Eventually, her singing stops, and PM waits a minute or two before he begins talking again, not necessarily quiet, but quieter than before. “I did not expect that kind of soul to come out of that little body of hers!”
“Yeah, she can be unpredictable like that... now imagine living with her,” you mumble, half kidding and half serious, but he laughs at that. Loudly. Not even a moment later, Mina walks through the doors and violently shakes the ticket in her hand at you. “I DID IT! I DID IT, KICK ASS, TAKE NAMES, AND MAKE SURE YOU COME TO HELL WEEK WITH ME SO YOU’RE NOT ALONE AT THE APARTMENT FOR A WHOLE WEEK!”
“I won’t be alone; Nyx will be there she is great company.”
“(Y/n), she is a black cat.”
“She is our third roommate and you will treat her as such,” you point your finger at her before PM gives you the clear to go in the room. “Make sure to hit your mark! That’s the tape shaped like a T on the floor! Break a leg,” he says, giving you two thumbs up. You nervously make your way through the short hallway, eventually landing right smack in the middle of the room. You make sure to hit the mark, as PM instructed, and you need to tell yourself to calm down as you look at four of the most influential people in music. In front of you sat Shouta Aizawa, Keigo Takami, Nemuri Kayama, and Toshinori Yagi.
Better known as just Aizawa, a well-known singer-songwriter. He stays behind the scenes mostly, and the rumor is he’s written over 20,000 songs for himself as well as other artists. The majority of course go to other artists, as he isn’t a big fan of all the fame and things, but the few albums he’s put out have some of your favorite songs ever written. He’s genuinely someone you’ve been looking up to for years upon years.
Then there’s Keigo Takami, who is known as Hawks. He chose his stage name because he’s always admired the strength and freedom of hawks and he decided that he wanted to be the same way. And he is, he literally can do everything. Every song of his sounds different, varying from rock to country. A lot of people really support his country music considering he calls his fans his chickadees. People just think it fits. The genre he seems to gravitate toward the most is definitely more of a rock vibe, even having his own band. And yes, the band’s emblem is a pair of red wings.
Next to him is Nemuri Kayama, or Midnight. She’s a world-famous popstar, but she makes sure to include some soul sounding belts in every single one of her songs. She’s Mina’s literal idol, and the amount of times you’ve had to listen to Midnight’s songs? So many. So many times. Not that you were complaining, her voice is amazing. You just wished she didn’t sing about love and sex all the fucking time.
And finally, there’s Toshinori Yagi. People tend to shorten his name to Nori, but he’s the most famous judge here. Not only does he own the All Might Record Label, he has won 11 Grammys, his music is played everywhere all the time, and he manages some of the biggest stars today. Unlike his rival record company, Endeavor Records, it’s said that Toshinori is ridiculously nice as well as a little strange, but in comparison to Enji Todoroki? The nicest man to walk the planet. 100%. Not to mention he’s also a singer himself. His songs are instant smashes, and everyone loves his voice. Even if he isn’t mean, he’s so ridiculously powerful in the business.
To say you were intimidated was an understatement.

Love at first sight? Please, love at first kindness (Toshinori x Reader)
For @smollilbeano because we need more smol toshi fluff. Excuse my titles cuz I honestly just want to avoid the cheesy lines lmao.
“Please Toshi, just one time and I won’t ask again.” pleaded Nemuri, standing so close to Toshinori as he was at his computer finishing up some self-report.
“I don’t know Nemuri…I…I’ve never really considered dating.”
“Then this is perfect, trust me she is nothing like me.” She grins and he, for some reason, imagined this girl like Nemuri, this hard shelled-girl that would be perverted on the outside but on the inside to be a sweet and caring person.
“So…she’s horrible mean, and inconsiderate?” He asked, turning in his seat slightly to look at her. She chuckled and shook her head softly, “No no, that’s not what I mean. She’s so sweet, she’s a nurse for the elder at the nursing home. She’s dedicated her life to help people. I shouldn’t be giving so many details away, but Toshinori pleeease!! You two would be so cute together, at least one chance. One chance is all I’m begging for- I’ll even go on my knees-”
“Please don’t. She takes care of the elder, hm?” He asked, ready to ask her a specific question to which he was curious to know.
She nods, “Yeah, she would have gone towards the kids, but there were less nurses in the elderly field.”
“So…Nemuri, are you basically hooking me up with a lady that would take care of this old man?” He pointed at himself with a soft finger which made her gasp.
“No- nonono! Ah damn, that’s not it at all. Trust me, once you go on that date with her you’re going to call me and thank me.”
Present Mic was eavesdropping and couldn’t help but to try and comfort his friend and nudging him to say yes to the proposal of their mutual friend and coworker, “Toshi buddy, ladies nowadays like older men- you should really go incognito on the internet.” He whispered that last part to him, hand covering his mouth slightly so Nemuri wouldn’t hear.
Toshi blushed softly and waved his hand lightly to shoo off Present Mic. He sighed in defeat, “I guess it would be nice to go out with someone…” He rubbed his neck shyly and Nemuri cheered (and a Present Mic fisting the air as he pridefully rubbed his fist on his chest, taking credit for convincing his friend).
Of course, while they cheered and Nemuri reassured that he was going to have fun, internally he was already nervous. He’s rarely been on a date, he can’t even recall a date. It had been so long, but also the determination and motivation he had to be a hero limited his social life, his anxieties about his lover being injured because of his connections and the possibility of ruining him.
He must’ve been dwelling so much on the past and his anxieties now that when he felt a hand on his shoulder, he flinched and whipped his head over his shoulder, even rolling over with his chair to look at Aizawa respectively after he removed his hand, “Aizawa, I have my plans ready for today’s lesson-”
“That’s good, but I saw the two idiots meddling with something and even if you just reluctantly say yes, it’s a good thing you did say yes.”
Confused, Toshinori asked, “You think so?”
Aizawa nodded as he held the yellow sleeping bag, “It’s not everyday you get set up on a date and potentially meeting a fine lady, I personally choose not to date, but you deserve some time off and meet someone. Don’t hit rock bottom, she’s indeed a good person.”
“Wait a minute, you know her?” He asked, couldn’t help but think of Aizawa going on a date with her but he said he chose not to go to that route.
“Yeah, Nemuri brought her out to have a drink with Yamada and I, if I did want to go on a date, it’d be with her. You’re in good hands, just be yourself and everything will be okay.”
Nodding, Toshinori thanked him for his words and watched him make his way out, most likely to nap or look for cats to feed.
Aizawa was hard person to please, and even he liked you (technically platonically, but same difference no?). He released a heavy sigh and rubbed his face softly. He was so nervous for the date.
~~~~
Today was the day, he was suppose to meet you in the park at 12:30 pm, but it was currently 12:40 pm and he sat against the bench, wearing his beige trenchcoat above a light blue shirt and black pants. His hair was sort of brushed, but we all know those hairs were meant to be untamed.
He couldn’t help but think that you probably spotted him and thought he was wasted. He thought of himself that way. He was so entranced in thoughts that he did not see a lady walk up to him, panting softly and blushing lightly from the run she had to take, “Uhm, excuse me, are you…Are you Yagi Toshinori?” You stood up straight to breath clearly and watched him stare at the grass. Gently getting closer and rubbing his shoulder softly, you softly say, “Excuse me?”
He was slightly surprised and he jolted softly before raising hize gaze to the lovely woman in front of him. She wore a cute pastel pink button-up shirt with a beige blzaer on top. Her hair was spectacular the way it shine from the sun's rays. He blushed lightly, but he responded to avoid being rude, "I'm sorry?" He asked, making her smile soft in return.
"I'm sorry to interuppt you, but are you perhaps Yagi Toshinori?" You asked, "My friend, Nemuri Kayama told me so much about you I thought I made an educated guess." You smiled shyly now while raising your hand to rub the side of your neck in an embarrassed move.
Yagi was now speechless. This is (L/N) (Y/N)? His expectations were trampled over, now he was embarrassed to have such thoughts when Nemuri was talking about you yesterday. He simply nodded, "Y-yes, I am..." The way she lit up made him lit up as well that it took him by surprise.
The way she smiled so brightly brought a certain lightness to his soul. You sat down on the bench next time and stared ahead, taking a deep breath and sighed softly with a small smile, "I am so glad today is a wonderful day. It isn't always I get a day off to be able to date someone so handsome." She commented, then glanced at the man beside you.
Toshinori couldn't help but stiff from her compliment. Handsome? Him? For a small moment, it offended him to be call such an adjective, but he remained courteous, "It is a wonderful day, but...it may not be for others." You nod profoundly, "Yeah, I know. You must be a great philosopher, oh great Socrates." You dramatically posed, with your right fingertips pressing lightly on your sternum while the left hand, in an elegant hand pose, pointed at the man beside you.
Toshinori chuckled lightly in an awkward way before asking, "Philosopher?" You turned to face him as you left arm rested on the top of the bench, "It was a simple comment, yet you considered the world's feelings. It's not always I see that in the men I go dates with."
Confused, Toshinori tilted his head slightly, "Would you clarify?" "Yes, the men I dated were...uhm...thinking of themselves before others. I do understand that sometimes it is okay to feel that way, but to no longer be considerate? It's...disturbing."
Now Toshinori understood, she liked men who are considerate and worrying, "So selfishness is out of the list of your liking?" You nodded,
"Yeah, when Nemuri told me you are a hero, part of me was hoping that you weren't like those heroes interested in fame and money. Maybe...maybe that was inconsiderate of me as well, huh?" You looked down, almost ashamed of your liking. He shook his head in disagreement, "No, that is not inconsiderate. What Nemuri has told me about you was that you work for the elderly, and well...if you don't have a family, it is because you very dedicated in your job and I for one know what it's like to be passionate about it and...forgetting to treat yourself. You deserve someone of your liking, it's a way of treating yourself."
Now you looked up to notice something in his eyes, something you've seen in many patients. "Are you telling me that...you also haven't been taking care of yourself?"
He slowed his head nodded in response, "Yeah, and it's...why I was so nervous to say yes to our date.." "You were nervous overall." You explained and he sighed softly, "Yeah, I was."
You noticed the subtle tremble in his hand and you tenderly grabbed it, "There is no need to be nervous around me. To be honest, I was kind of nervous as well...seeing as you are All Might, I thought you would say I was just a mere woman that seeks fame and money, and I was extremely nervous that I hadn't realized the time, but I still got her because...I thought you were here."
Toshinori blushed at the contact, but listened intently, "So, you didn't want to come?" You shook your head, "At the end, I did. Because I wanted to find out who Yagi Toshinori is, not All Might." Eyes widen and heart accelerated, Toshinori blushed even more so that he coughed, which forced his hand removal to cover his mouth. You noticed the panic the man went through and stood up when he did, backing up a few steps. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-- I'm so sorry."
"W-wait, Wait!" You tried to stop him, "Hold still, please!" Toshinori flinched when you got closer and he instinctively stepped back. You furrowed your eyebrows as you held onto his arm reluctantly while your free arm held a cloth, "You are going to stain your clothes, please use this." You reached closer to his mouth, "Hunch over slightly, please."
You softened your expression and he was surprised that he complied, leaning forward and letting your hands wipe the blood stains on his lips and cheeks, smeared from his hands.
"You cough out blood, have you gone to the hospital?" You asked with genuine concern, "If what you say is that you can't take care of yourself, then allow me to help you."
Still speechless, Toshinori let you wipe his hands, the cloth completely covered by his blood, "Your cloth..." He commented and you smiled small, "It's just a cloth, do not worry about it. There...you look good as new now."
Toshinori was now shy, withholding any actions to speak, but he slowly began: "Perhaps...we could start over...because... I'd like to know you as well, and, sorry about that."
You seemed surprised for a moment before you smiled, "Sure, and don’t feel embarrassed about this, it’s okay. Also, if we were to start now, do we not mention Nemuri?" When he responded yes then an awkward no, you lit up, "Perfect! Then First thing- I like ice cream." and you pointed lightly at the ice cream truck.
 When Toshinori turned to looked at the ice cream cart a chuckled, "Alright, shall we then?" You intertwined your fingers with his and nodded, "We shall." and began to walk together to the cart. Needless to say, you both continued to date and treat each other with the best moments.
((I am so sorry for the delay of this request, I have my chapter but I rather not waste on here. I hope you enjoy this and stay safe everybody.))
Can I request a Christmas scenario about they getting caught under the mistletoe with shy female S/O for Aizawa and Present Mic (separately)? 😍🥰 Because I really love to see they have extremely adorable moments together!! 🥰🥰🥰
aizawa shouta x reader; yamada hizashi x reader
warnings: angst (1), fluff (1), alcohol consumption
a/n: I'm horrible, I didn't read the word s/o…..so…haha…um…… I was in an angsty mood while writing one of these……… enjoy? this is a request, not a drabble!!! more drabbles will be up later tonight :)
Aizawa shouta
You took a deep breath.
Today is the day. You thought.
Today is the day. You repeated.
Today is the–
“What are you doing outside? You’re going to get cold!” A voice interrupted your thoughts, and you shrieked. You whipped your face around and looked at a figure walking your way. You sighed.
It was only Nemuri. “You, uh, you scared me…” You whisper. Your cheeks feeling enflamed as you stood outside the doors to the house you were by. “I was–”
“Thinking of ways to profess your love to little baby, Eraser?” Nemuri teases despite the own blush on her face, she was a sucker for your one-sided romance after all. “You know, for someone as observant as he is, it’s a tragedy he hasn’t noticed you’re in love with him!”
“’Muri-chan!” You shriek as you whip around as if expecting Aizawa to be lurking around for some reason. Given that you knew your crush since high school, you were sure he was busy keeping a drunk Hizashi out of trouble.
“But it is Christmas, who knows! Maybe Ecto left a mistletoe up!” Nemuri teased you as she grabbed your arm, and took you to the door.
You groan as she knocks on the door. The teachers of U.A. were throwing a Christmas party tonight. You had also decided ages ago you would tell Shouta you liked him before the end of the year was up. After stalling for twelve months, you had decided today was the day. Christmas was a couples event, after all.
But you were nauseous as the door flew open, “MIDNIGHTTTT, Y/H/NNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!”
Oh boy, Hizashi was already drunk.
You sat in the corner of the room, a drink in your hand as you chatted with Nemuri about the man she had dommed the other day. Oh, how you wished you could be like your best friend and sweat confidence. You were in your late twenties and still had issues not stuttering around people!
How you were a teacher was beyond you.
Your eyes kept searching around for Aizawa, you knew that he was here. You had said hello to him earlier. With the activity of both your best friends wrecking chaos in opposite ends of the house. You split ways prematurely.
He did say you looked nice, and it left you blushing and stuttering for a solid ten minutes though. You just wanted the night to end so that you could scream it to him on the way out and then disappear for a while. Thank the universe he was still with first years and no longer with third years anymore. If he rejected you, you could at the very least avoid him.
But the night was only getting later, and gifts for Secret Santa had been distributed. Most of your colleagues were, in fact, leaving now. But you knew you had to stay.
“I’ll distract Hizashi, you go get you… your man!” Nemuri slurred drunkenly, the skimpy red dress she wore was not at all in a decent place, but she wasn’t embarrassed. Nor did she want anyone fixing it for her. So most people avoided their stare from her body.
You didn’t even have time to reject her statement as she dragged you across the room. Aizawa and Hizashi were standing where she took you. “MIC COME WITH ME!” Nemuri laughed as she took Hizashi by the hand who had been in the middle of ignoring what Aizawa had to say anyways.
Your eyes locked onto Aizawa who was looking at you. You found yourself straightening out your dress. Your drunken friends disappeared with very loud whispers.
“T-They’re a bit too much, huh?” You ask looking at your feet as Aizawa sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I regret telling Mic that I would be his driver tonight.” Aizawa agrees as you nod your head.
Your thoughts were racing a million kilometers a second. The horror you felt because you couldn’t keep a conversation. You knew you had to say something soon, or else you never would.
“Do you want to go outside with me for a bit?” Aizawa asks, and you freeze. “It’s a bit stuffy in here, and I’m going to pass out soon.”
“Yeah, um, I just need to grab my, uh, my jacket.”
“Take mine.” Aizawa offers as he shrugs off the black wool coat he had been wearing all night.
“No wonder why you’re hot.” You laugh slightly, as the heavy coat is placed on your shoulders. The heat of the jacket and the scent of Aizawa’s cologne hit your body like a truck as you watch him walk out the door. His eyes on you expectantly.
“Oh, man…” You mutter to yourself as you walk after him, mentally preparing to confess any second now.
You watch as Aizawa leans against the porch, his arms folded and you walk over slowly. The two of you stand in silence as Aizawa lets out a slow exhale. The hot air of his breathes smoking against the cold air.
“How have your students been?” Aizawa asks you, interrupting the silence.
“Oh, pretty good.” You say with a smile before it falters. “I wish we could do something about Mirio though, it breaks my heart.”
Aizawa nods his head in agreement as he looks up, his body stilling. But you don’t notice this as your mouth opens ready to confess your feelings.
“Do you follow the mistletoe tradition?” He asks, and your voice dies in your throat.
“W-What?”
“Ecto hid the mistletoe here, and well, I’m asking if you follow the tradition.”
You honestly didn’t, but Aizawa didn’t need to know that as you nodded your head. Your body was quickly becoming hotter as he straightened out. And your eyes fluttered shut as you felt his lips press gently against yours. Your heartbeat roaring in your ears as he did so.
The kiss was short, his lips pressing against yours for less than two seconds. But the warmth that spread through your body made it seem like you had taken a shot.
He pulled away, and you felt breathless as you opened your eyes.
The shrieks coming inside made you realize that many people were watching on. You flush as you see them all cheering, now invested in their happiness for you and Aizawa. You turned your blushing gaze to Aizawa who looked… sad?
“Aizawa, I…” You trailed off, it was now or never. “I have to confess something, I–”
“Please don’t finish that sentence, y/l/n,” Aizawa whispers, and your throat tightens at those words.
“W-What?”
“I know you have feelings for me.”
And you can feel your heart slowly being consumed by the frost of the outside air.
“I can’t…” Aizawa trails off, “I can’t accept them, I’m sorry.”
Hot, bitter tears well up in your eyes as you stare at him, unable to come up with words. “S-So, you… you ask to kiss me… under the mistletoe, knowing full well that I have feelings… and you reject me, still?” You splutter, your mind unable to make sense of this situation as tears roll down your face. You can feel them freezing against your simmering cheeks as you raise your gaze to Aizawa. Aizawa who, for the first time ever, seems at a loss of words.
“I’m sorry, y/l/n.”
You shake your head, a choking sound escaping your lips as you shove the jacket off your body. Tossing it to the ground as you curse him through gritted, humiliated teeth. You don’t even hear him call out your name. His capturing weapon missing your wrist as you storm into the house. You slam the door with all the strength of the Pro-Hero in you.
Nemuri and Hizashi are at your side immediately as you walk in. They were imitating kissing sounds like a bunch of middle schoolers.
“You both were wrong,” You pant, feeling as if the world was caving in on you. “He doesn’t like me back. I’m going to leave.”
You were out the front door the second Aizawa entered the back door. Although not everyone was still there, everyone stared at him with disappointed eyes.
“You fucked up big time, Aizawa…”
Yamada hizashi
You groaned as Hizashi smacked another kiss onto your lip that night.
Your dork of a husband had gone out of his way to buy a Christmas hat with a piece of mistletoe on it. He was now deliberately using it to kiss you whenever he wanted despite the company you had over.
Setting up the table?
“Oh my, watch out y/n, I’m falling over on top of you?! IS THAT MISTLETOE?!”
Smooch!
Eating?
“Hey, y/n, can you pass me a bread roll, no come closer… IS THAT MISTLETOE?!”
Smooch!
Passing out presents?
“Don’t mind me, y/n, just grabbing some present. Ya know, I think there’s a mistletoe just above you right now!”
SMOOCH!
It was cute, don’t get it wrong! Yet your face had turned twenty shades of red and you were not happy to be this red in front of company.
So you were doing everything you could to avoid being yet another kiss steal from Hizashi. Because if he kissed you anymore, you were going to faint. Mixing yourself a drink, you walked back over to where Hizashi and his coworkers sat. Everyone was talking about what they aimed to do with the month they had off in March. Once school was out, of course.
You noticed that the hat was finally off Hizashi’s head, but you still sat across from him in the hope he wouldn’t put it back on. He wouldn't try to make out with you in front of his friends. But the kisses alone were embarrassing!
The night continued smoothly as everyone stayed in the comfort of your home. Everyone chatting away while playing board games you and Hizashi had in the house. Of course, when it got particularly rowdy, those U.A. alumni were some of the most competitive people ever. Hizashi would break out his quirk. Making Aizawa use his quirk. Making Nemuri rip her clothes. Making Cementoss build a wall in your living room to stop the horrible loud yells of your husband.
Every time it happened you couldn’t help but laugh, everyone was so funny in your opinion.
But as the night got later, everyone was getting a bit drunker…
“Who’s the least flustered out of everyone here, we know the most is y/n!” Nemuri slurred as everyone tried to make a mental note of who the least flustered person was.
You were cuddled up into Hizashi’s side, blushing because they definitely weren’t wrong.
“I am!” Hizashi announced a proud smirk on his face. “I only pretend to be flustered so people think I’m just like them!”
It must’ve been the alcohol in your system because you let out a laugh as you shook your head in disagreement. Unfortunately, it seemed that everyone actually agreed with your eccentric husband’s opinion.
“I can fluster you without a problem!” You laugh, oh yeah, it was definitely the alcohol speaking.
“Prove it!” Nemuri squealed, her eyes materializing hearts as she stared expectantly at you two. Chants went around the room, and you stood up. Placing the mistletoe hat back onto your husband’s head who was now looking at you with traces of a blush on his cheeks.
You grabbed him by the collar and pulled him in for a kiss.
You couldn’t even hear the whoops of laughter and cheering from your drunk friends as your lips fervently pressed against Hizashi’s. Your tongue slipping into his mouth. The taste of bitter alcohol was evident in his mouth as your tongue swiped at his. You swallowed the shaky gasp that escaped his lips as your tongue traced the roof of his mouth before pulling away panting.
Hizashi was blushing redder then you had all night.
“HE DOES GET FLUSTERED!!!!!!”
Minor Chords Rule My Life (Part 1)
I wrote far more than I had intended.
-----------------------
“All Might, do you get nightmares?”
Or that one time Hizashi found All Might playing the piano.
-----------------------
Hizashi woke in a cold sweat. He flicked his bedside lap on and shivered as the remnant voices from his nightmare faded away. He took deep calming breaths.
"It was just a dream. Just a dream."
Hizashi took another breath and lay back down on his pillow. He stared at the ceiling noting how the colour shifted in the spots where the warm light of the bed lamp couldn't quite reach. With one last deep breath, he closed his eyes.
1…
2…
3…
4…
5-
Glimpses of some long-forgotten memory flashed behind Hizashi's eyelids. His blanket furled to the ground as he leapt off the bed and made his way out of his room.
He'd never been a fan of walking down the hallway of the staff dorms in the middle of the night. Each footstep sounded like a thunderclap and Hizashi was sure he was going to wake someone up with his breathing alone.
Reaching the kitchen Hizashi made a beeline for the kettle. While Shota had tea and Nemuri a shot or two of whiskey, Hizashi liked to stick to hot chocolate. It was simple, tasted nice, and reminded him of when he was a child. If he couldn't sleep or it was storming outside his mum would sit him on the bench, make him a hot chocolate and then hold him until he eventually fell back asleep. He loved it. He missed it.
Sometimes, when terrors invaded his dreams and he could taste screams on the tip of his tongue, Hizashi would wonder if becoming a Pro had really been for him.
Hizashi let the heat from the steaming mug slip into his fingertips. It was calming, comforting. Yet, Hizashi ached to move, to do something.
"So, it's going to be one of those nights," placing the mug on the counter Hizashi used both hands to card through his hair.
It was one of the nights where he wouldn't sleep. They came every so often, each one seemingly worse than the last. Screams echoed in his ears and blurred images of memories he could never quite describe. They happened more than Hizashi would like to admit—not that he often did admit it.
Fingers idling tapping the counter, Hizashi contemplated what to do. Maybe write up a lesson plan, mark some homework, anything that would make the next week easier. But, as much as he wanted to be productive, Hizashi couldn't bring himself to care enough to work. Unlike Shota, his bad nights were never filled with productivity. All he felt like doing was curling up under a fluffy blanket and crying. He couldn't do that here, though, he didn't want his coworkers seeing him like that and all his fluffy blankets were at home.
Hizashi glanced at his left hand, slowly forming the shape of different cords. C minor, E minor, back down to D. He started to hum a soft melody to the chords, his right hand starting to mimic the notes. Maybe that's what he needed right now, a little bit of music.
Of all the things in his life, it was so easy to get lost in it. To become entranced in it. There was a keyboard tucked into the common room corner. He'd brought it from his apartment when the staff had first moved into the dorms. Maybe some calm music would soothe his nerves enough to let him back to sleep.
Downing the last of his hot chocolate Hizashi made his way to the common room. He stopped at the door that connected the two rooms. It was only now that he noticed the soft glow squeezing under the door. Had someone left a light on? No, that wasn't right. If he strained his hearing, Hizashi could hear some sort of tap.
Slowly edging the door open, Hizashi peered into the common room.
His brain short-circuited a bit at the sight.
All Might was sitting at his keyboard fingers drumming against each key. Hizashi couldn't hear anything, the noise being redirected to All Might earphones, but Hizashi couldn't but be entranced by how All Might fingers slid across the keys. His right hand playing at a speed that took years to master and his left shifting up and down the lower octaves.
Then suddenly he stopped.
All Might turned to Hizashi his face similar to a deer caught in headlights. Slowly he removed the earbuds.
"Sorry, if I woke you."
"It's fine," Hizashi supplied, "I've been up for a while now."
"And, uh, sorry for using your keyboard. I probably should have asked."
Seeing the Symbol of Peace in such a domestic environment was weird, Hizashi decided. His voice was low and demeanour void of any of his usual energy.
"It's okay, it's there for everyone to use."
All Might looked back down at the keys and Hizashi felt a tinge of guilt for interrupting. He for one knew how frustrating it was to be stopped mid-song. Examining the older man more closely, Hizashi noted just how exhausted All Might looked. There were bags under his eyes and his skin had paled. A mug of what looked like coffee sat next to the keyboard.
And here Hizashi had thought that All Might had a healthy sleep schedule.
Without thinking too much, "I didn't know you played."
All Might looked a bit startled at the comment and yep, domestic All Might was weird, "I took lessons when I was a kid, but it's more of a hobby than anything." He rubbed the back of his like he was embarrassed to admit that. All Might looked up at Hizashi, "I'm fine to leave if you wanted to use it."
"No, no, I just heard a noise and came to check it out," that was a lie and Hizashi was fairly certain that All Might knew that too. "I'm curious though, why aren't you asleep?"
"I'm just not in the mood for sleep."
The answer was… ambiguous and it was probably meant to be like that. Could he not sleep? Did All Might just not want to sleep? It could be a million different things. All Might was looking at the keyboard again his fingers tracing chords on his knees. Maybe Hizashi should leave, let All Might continue what he was doing.
But, a small voice stopped him. Ask him, it said. Ask him the question you've always wanted the answer to. Hizashi fought himself for a moment. It was true that there'd always been a question he'd had for All Might. Now would probably be a suitable time to ask as well. But it felt wrong too. Hizashi had seen the walls All Might built, and yet, here, probably due to his exhaustion, the walls had lowered even if just a bit. Hizashi could perhaps peek over if he stood on his tiptoes.
But was it right to ask such a personal question in this situation?
No, Hizashi decided. But, it appeared his mouth hadn’t gotten the memo and he asked it anyway.
"All Might, do you get many nightmares?" There was a sharpness to it that Hizashi hadn't intended.
The man in question seemed a bit taken aback, obviously not expecting such a question. And in his mind, Hizashi knew the answer. There was no way that someone works as the number one for some thirty years and not walk away with night terrors. But Hizashi needed to know, needed to know that even the strongest had their weak points. He needed to know that it wasn't just him.
"Yes," All Might's voice was low, perhaps realising that this question was more for Hizashi than himself. "Someone of them… Some of them are worse than others," There was a distant look in his eyes and Hizashi panicked for a second that he'd sent him back to an old memory, "but yes, I do have nightmares."
"D-do they ever get better?"
All Might took his time to answer and internally Hizashi was thinking that he was going to say that no, nightmares don't get better. That no, he was forever going to be stuck with sleepless nights and blurred images of things that his brain had tried to forget. But thankfully, that's not what All Might said.
"Most of the bad memories… fade, I think. Some…" The hazy look was back and Hizashi swore he heard a slight choke on the next few words, "Some don't. Some stay with you no matter how hard you try to forget, but most… most don't."
It wasn't necessarily the answer that Hizashi had wanted, but it wasn't the one he had feared either. It sat in the middle of 'yes, it gets better' and 'no, it's there forever'.
"Thank you," Hizashi said.
The two lapsed into a comfortable silence.
Then, after a moment All Might said, "I think I might have some advice, if nightmares are troubling you," Hizashi looked up. "Tell someone. I never do, and I think that's half my problem. You have friends Yamada, I'm sure they'd be willing to help if you let them."
And Hizashi had always known that. He'd always known that telling someone would help. But every time he tried, he backed out. After all, he couldn't even really remember what his nightmares were about. They were nothing but flashes of light and blurred blobs of colour. He didn't have the vivid memories and being sucked into flashbacks like so many other people. He was just scared and he couldn't even tell you of what.
"I- Thank you, All Might."
All Might smiled. A tired smile, but it was comforting nonetheless.
As Hizashi bid All Might goodnight and made his way back to his room, he turned All Might's words over and over again.
Tell someone. You have friends.
You have friends.
Not, 'you have good friends' just 'you have friends'. And that got Hizashi thinking, what about All Might. Surely All Might had friends. Stopping just outside his room, Hizashi tried to name the people that All Might was friends with. There was Recovery Girl, but that seemed like more of a working relationship. There was Gran Torino—Hizashi wasn't one hundred percent sure how the two knew each other but there was something there. And All Might's old sidekick, Sir Nighteye, he was well… dead.
And then the names stopped coming.
Even after the staff had moved in together, Hizashi couldn't recall any time All Might had mentioned friends or family. He thought about how All Might kept the world at arms-length, how his only display of emotions were smiling, beaming, or if a villain tried to attack the kids, pissed off. All Might had completely shut himself from people, but he did it in such a way that it felt normal. Hizashi had always been amazed at how All Might had hidden his injuries from the world with just a smile. It seemed that his smile could hide more than just his physical wounds.
Hizashi didn't sleep that night. He sat at his desk scribbling down some music notes and small doodles here and there. The night ticked on and after a while Hizashi thought, All Might doesn't have many friends… maybe I can change that. Even just by one.
11 - Aizawa
Kaori Shinsou has always been fascinated by people's minds. She is one of the best students in her Criminal Psychology course at U.A. and - being the lucky girl she is - her professor is not only one handsome dude, but is also working on the case of the serial killer Stain - a case that has been going on for years. As she is about to become Professor Aizawa's TA during the next term, a lot of other interesting cases start popping up all over the country... AU, OC x Aizawa
Trigger warnings: nothing really?
(possibly incomplete, if you’d like something added, please let me know)
The city's ours until the fall
(Halsey - New Americana)
Shouta Aizawa did not enjoy having lunch in the cafeteria. The place was loud, there were always a bunch of annoying kids around and people would just randomly approach him and talk to him, when all he wanted was some peace and quiet. But with all his injuries right now, he didn't really have the energy to prepare some lunch at home, before he left in the morning. And the lunch in the cafeteria was insanely good, so that somewhat made up for everything else.
He was sitting on a table with a bunch of other teachers, not because he wanted to, but because there was no table available where he could sit on his own. And sitting with one of his students would just be plain weird.
At the moment Yamada and Kayama were having a heated debate about whether Kombucha tasted good or not and whether it was worth trying for the health benefit. Kayama was absolutely in favour of it and was showing off her home-made Kombucha that she had brought to school. Yamada had never tried it and was convinced it couldn't be healthy AND good.
At the moment Kayama was forcefully trying to get Yamada to try some of her Kombucha. Yamada protested wildly, which was unfortunate for Aizawa, as he was sitting right next to him. He was keeping a close eye on him, just so he could dodge any accidental attacks from Yamada.
"Oh, come on! At least try it! One tiny sip?" Kayama asked. Aizawa gulped down some orange juice. He had to switch to that from coffee. The doctors told him to stay away from alcohol, caffeine, nicotine and anything else for at least two weeks. Which wasn't too bad, because in two weeks they would have the U.A. Sports Festival, which was a big thing within the national police force.
A lot of people from different divisions across the country came to see it and to scout out people for internships later on. Of course anyone who was not in basic training (or really athletic and in some other course like Criminology) would have a rough time trying to intern with the actual police force. A lot of the other people just turned to forensic laboratories, prisons, courts and so on to get their internships done.
Aizawa had done his one-week internship at a prison during his first year. Thankfully he had been able to kick ass during his second year and had started working with the local Naruhata police department. That's where he and his best friend Shirakumo had been spending most of their days away from university. Aizawa smiled a little, as he remembered his friend, but the smile quickly faded.
"What do YOU think, Shouta? Should he try it or not?" Kayama asked, taking him out of his thoughts. Aizawa glanced at Yamada who was shaking his head dramatically while grimacing.
"I don't really care, Nemuri. Why do you need him to drink it so badly?" he replied with a shrug.
"I made it myself and I'm proud of it! Plus, he's never even tried it and keeps saying that it'll taste bad. I just want him to try, before he'll start judging." Kayama said and sighed melodramatically.
"Why don't you try it then, Yamada? It hasn't killed Nemuri so far, it most likely won't kill you." Aizawa suggested, hoping to be left alone. He wasn't going to be so lucky. Yamada was shaking his head violently.
"Nuh uh. She's a toxicologist, dude, she could be telling me anything while trying to poison me. And she'd be getting away with it, too!"
"I can't believe you're accusing me of trying to poison you! Yamada, we've been friends for how long now?"
"Maybe you're just playing the long game, who knows..."
Aizawa sighed. His head had started hurting again and he really couldn't deal with the two of them arguing about petty shit like that right now. He grabbed the bottle out of Kayama's hands, opened it and took a big sip. He gulped it all down, as he put the bottle back down on the table.
It was nasty. It smelled foul and a bit like vinegar. And it tasted just the same, with a slight hint of sweetness. It took everything out of Aizawa not to make a weird face. And all that just because he wanted Yamada to suffer just as much as he did. If he drank the stuff, Yamada would have to, as well.
"How... how is it?" Yamada asked, giving him a worried look, as if Kayama had actually been poisoning it. Aizawa shrugged again.
"It's alright. You should try it, I think you might like it." he replied, knowing full well that Yamada would trust his judgment without questioning. Aizawa seriously didn't know why Yamada would still trust him, but maybe he was just one of those people that simply didn't learn.
Yamada grabbed the bottle, still eyeing it suspiciously, but finally getting over himself and taking a sip of it. It took a while to hit him, but then he quickly put the bottle down and pushed it away from himself.
"This tastes like ass! What the fuck, Shou?" he exclaimed. Aizawa grinned a little. Sure, Yamada was his friend, but it made him kind of happy to see him suffer right now. He was coughing and drinking loads of water to get the taste out of his mouth.
"Yeah, I know. It's really not my thing, Nemuri, and I think that one has been standing for too long. Now, if you'll all excuse me, I'm going to get some more orange juice, because that was truly disgusting." Aizawa said, as he got up with the glass in his hand. Kayama was shaking her head.
"You all just don't have taste..." she mumbled and packed away her Kombucha again. Yamada looked disappointed.
"I can't believe you've done me dirty like this, Shou." he said. Aizawa shrugged and gave him a wide grin.
"Again, I have no idea why you still trust me, Zashi. Anyway, I'm off to get something to drink and then I'll probably take a nap before my next lesson, so I'll see you all later." he replied and walked off.
I passed a few tables with students, some of them I knew. There was one table with a group of first years in basic training, their names were Todoroki, Midoriya, Uraraka, Iida and Asui. It was incredibly obvious that Uraraka was crushing hard on Midoriya. How he didn't realize it was completely beyond me.
At another table there was Nishiyama and her entourage. She always had a crowd of people around her and most of them kept changing all the time. Nishiyama was probably the true drama queen of this university. Most people who weren't stuck in high school anymore were not paying much attention to her, thankfully. She was a pain in the ass, but Aizawa had to admit that she usually had very good grades, although that was probably due to her learning all the notes by heart just before the exams.
The last table he passed was literally right beside the place where all the drinks were. Aizawa recognized Kaori Shinsou and her brother. Kaori was picking at her food, as if she wasn't hungry. She probably felt sick due to the painkillers. Aizawa felt a little pang in his heart, seeing her with the bandages around her forehead, knowing that it was his fault, because she was trying to save him.
Her brother looked like he had just seen a ghost and was whispering to her. I could see Kaori raise an eyebrow and give her brother an amused smile.
"What, you mean Pikachu?" she said loudly. Her brother looked around in a panic and then quickly gestured for her to be quiet.
Aizawa who had been watching this exchange was wondering who they were talking about. There was only one person he knew and he would describe as Pikachu and that was Denki Kaminari. He somewhat doubted that Hitoshi Shinsou knew Kaminari. From what he knew they had little in common, except that they were both first years. Well, it wasn't really his business anyway.
He poured himself a glass of orange juice and squinted at it. There seemed to be a few tiny bits in it, probably because someone had been swirling the jug and not letting it settle properly. Shouta Aizawa absolutely hated bits in his orange juice. Or any juice, to be fair. Things he was drinking or eating should be one consistent texture. Anyone who said otherwise was a potential psychopath.
"Well, forget about your crush on coffee boy for a second and let's talk about the plan for this evening. I've had this desire to watch Aristocats all day, are you with me?" he heard Kaori ask. Aizawa stopped squinting at his orange juice and froze. He loved that movie. It was one of his favourite childhood movies. It was his guilty pleasure whenever he felt stressed out or sad or overwhelmed by life and work and everything else. And no one - no one - could ever know about it.
"Yes! Absolutely! We haven't watched that movie in ages!" Hitoshi Shinsou exclaimed. Kaori laughed.
"I know, right? We should just get all wrapped up in blankets, get some nice, fancy ice cream and watch that movie. It's even raining outside, it's the perfect day for that. Plus, you can take your mind off the Sports Festival for once."
"Let's do it."
Shouta Aizawa decided he had been creepy listening in on his students' conversation for long enough. He took his orange juice and made his way back to the table with his colleagues. It looked like he hadn't missed much, since Yamada still seemed to be complaining about the Kombucha. What a fucking nerd.
COMMISSION:  The Sound of a Voice
After confronting Kurogiri/Oboro at Tartarus, Hizashi has a falling-out with his friends and partner.
for: @scattered-imagination ♡ by Sam WC: 3802
                                 Thank you so much! this was lovely to write.                                                                      commission info + AO3 + ko-fi
Shouta Aizawa likes the quiet of the faculty room at the end of the day. In the fall, the midday sun pours gentle light in through the window and casts a warm glow over Shouta’s spot by the window, allowing him time to think and grade papers before returning home.
It’s not often that someone him this late in the day. But when Yagi Toshinori’s hesitant face peers through the door of the lounge, Aizawa greets him with a low hum.
“I figured I’d see you here,” Toshinori says with a small smile. Aizawa nods, looking up from the stack of papers to be graded at the table.
“You don’t usually stay this late,” Aizawa murmurs.
Toshinori rubs the back of his head. “I know. I, erm...I wanted to talk about — about Yamada.”
Aizawa sighs. The very way in which Aizawa’s posture shifts at the mention of the other man is enough to make Toshinori flinch.
“He’s burning himself out, Aizawa.”
Aizawa blinks and remains silent.
Toshinori takes a careful step inside the. With a glance at the floor, he moves to stand across the table where Aizawa sits.
“And you can’t...can’t reach him at all, can you?”
Aizawa glares at him under hooded eyelids. Behind the thick strands of his hair, the former number-one hero almost feels intimidated.
“I’m not delving into the details of my relationship with — with him, right now. We don’t speak as much as we used to. That’s it. I can’t reach him any better than you, Nemuri, or Tensei can. Admittedly, I...I haven’t noticed the change in his behavior until you and Nemuri brought it up to me today. This...this thing he does isn’t entirely abnormal. He goes on these crazy energy-splurges and then sleeps for a week.”
Aizawa sigh as a pang of guilt creeps through his stomach. Estranged or not (and God, Aizawa hates that word), he should have seen this for what it is. This behavior isn’t Hizashi — this is far, far worse. And he’d been ignoring it; he’d been ignoring a lot of things, save for work, since their visit to Tartarus.
“But this isn’t normal, no.”
Toshinori sighs. Aizawa watches him with measured eyes.
“What do you propose we do?”
Aizawa’s voice is strained around the question, and Toshinori notices a desperation in his eyes that hadn’t been there before. When he speaks again, it’s hardly above a whisper.
“I...I don’t want to see him get hurt.” Toshinori manages a small smile.
“None of us do, Aizawa. Nemuri proposed we go to his apartment tomorrow night. It would technically be breaking and entering, but erm — we figured you’d have a spare key. Just know I’m not supporting this, and that it’s highly illegal and — “
Aizawa gives him a flat stare. Toshinori shrugs sheepishly.
“I’ll be there, then,” he says quickly. “With the key.”
That seems to please Toshinori well enough.
_____________________________
The racing in Hizashis head shows no sign of slowing. Even as he pushes open the door to his apartment, no one train of thought seems to settle enough for him to follow it long enough to make any sense. His eyelids dance like hummingbird wings and unfocused eyes dart every which way as his hand trembles to unlock the door.
He needs to sleep. Or to sit down. But something deep in his chest looms within him like a vast, inky trench that he dare not let anywhere near the surface of his own psyche. He scratches his head idly, almost throwing off his directional speaker before he notices the four people sitting on his couch with a sudden jolt.
Across from him, Shouta is slumped across the couch cushion, a sigh that makes his chest ache. He sputters, feeling like he needs to say something. They had hardly spoken in weeks. Since speaking with Oboro — Kurogiri — at Tartarus, meeting Shouta’s eyes has been a near-impossible feat. That looming, dark expanse of water threatens its way up Hizashi’s throat, and he quickly shoves it down with a weak smile.
Nemuri is leaning on the back of a chair beside the couch, and to Shota’s right, Toshinori stands awkwardly near the corner, his hand on the back of his head. Tensei has his head bowed, his hands clasped tightly together until he looks up when Hizashi enters the room.
“Oh hey!” he chirps. He curses inwardly as his voice cracks. He’s mentally exhausted, and he’s suddenly vividly aware that it’s painted all over his face.
Nemuri offers a small smile. Toshinori just sighs, looking around with a weak wave. Shouta and Tensei look away.
“This is a pleasant surprise,” Hizashi continues. He takes off his speaker, placing it on the table in the middle of the four. “Let me put some dinner on, yeah? You four have gotta be starving.”
“That won’t be necessary, Yamada,” Toshinori says with a raise of his hand. Nemuri nods in agreement.
“Hizashi…” she begins carefully. “We actually wanted to talk to you. About that. We don’t want you to take care of us. We want you to talk to us.”
He swallows thickly. He feels their eyes burning into the front of his skull, no matter how much he tries to look away.
“Oh. Well, we could’ve all gotten a drink or something. Not that I don’t love when you guys come over and all, I’d just like to clean up a little first!”
“You wouldn’t have agreed to come,” Shouta says lowly. He takes an uneven breath, forcing himself to meet his eyes. “Because this isn’t a friendly call. Hizashi…”
He sighs softly. Shouta feels suffocated — why were Tensei, Toshinori, and Kayama here when they weren’t the ones in Tartarus? Nemuri had been Oboro’s friend, but they didn’t have to watch as Oboro all but clawed his way out of Kurogiri —
He shoves the thought aside.
“You havent been yourself,” Tensei points out when Shouta is clearly lost for words. “Not since you and Shouta visited Tartarus.”
Hizashi freezes where he stands. “Look, man, I don’t wanna talk about what happened at Tartarus, okay? That was me and Shouta’s business.”
“He was our friend, too,” Nemuri says softly. The hurt in her eyes is enough to make Hizashi want to cry.
“And I may not have known him,” Toshinori says quietly, “But I consider Oboro Shirakumo’s...situation...to be a failure of hero society itself. And as a representative of what is meant to be the best of the best of Pro Heroes here in Japan, I consider this to be a personal matter in regards to your well-being. I also consider you to be my friend, Yamada, and I worry about your well-being.”
Hizashi presses his lips together as Toshinori looks at the ground with a hard expression.
“Guys, I appreciate this,” Hizashi says softly. “But I’m fine. Really.”
“You’re not,” Shouta snaps. He clamps his mouth shut when Tensei gives him a warning glance. His tone had been far too harsh.
“You’re not fine,” he says again, slowly this time. He stands up, if a bit awkwardly, to approach Hizashi. His hands twitch to take the other man’s hands in his own — to hug him and cling to him as he had before. But he can’t. Their relationship had deteriorated in the past few weeks, and they both know it.
“We want you to talk to us, Hizashi.”
Hizashi raises his hands defensively. “I told you! I’m fine.”
“Hizashi...you’ve lost weight,” Toshinori says gently. “Your smile used to be the brightest smile across U.A. and...I can tell when someone is forcing a smile, Hizashi. I’ve had to do it many times myself. You aren’t smiling — you’re acting.”
Hizashi looks at them in disbelief. He shakes his head, his eyes wide and unfocused as he harshly grabs a chair and drags it into the makeshift circle. He sits down, worrying his chapped bottom lip between his teeth before staring at the four of them in silence.
“I’m tired,” he admits. “I’m really, really tired. I want to help you all. I love it — it makes me happy. But sometimes, I feel like I’m on the outside looking in. You know?”
The four of them look at one another in silent confusion, unsure of what to say. He stares at Shouta, first.
“You’ve been complaining that I’m too loud,” he whispers. “You almost never do that. You forgot about all of our dates last week.”
Shouta’s lower lip trembles, but before he can respond, Hizashi turns to Tensei.
“Tensei — you locked me out of your classroom when I was shaking. You couldn’t handle it. I — I don’t blame you. I haven’t had a panic attack since I was a kid, and — and I know I — I hurt someone the last time that happened. My voice got out of control. But I needed you, Tensei.”
His gaze darts to Nemuri when Tensei, too, is at a loss for words.
“You’re drinking more,” he points out. Her face flushes.
“Hizashi, I — “
“No,” he snaps. He bares his teeth. “Nemuri — let me continue. Please.”
Never one for being told what to do, she bows her head in meek obedience.
“You were drinking,” he says again. “And wouldn’t let me stop you. You blacked out. Thank God you were at home, or else you would’ve been destroyed by the press and God knows what else.”
Speechless, she blinks and says nothing more.
“So,” he continues, addressing the group. “You see? This is why I’m tired. I love you — all of you. But...I can’t do this anymore. We lost Oboro as children, and it was devastating. I’m done lying to myself — I changed, that day. We all did. Seeing him like that again at Tartarus made me feel like a scared, lost little kid who suddenly got smacked in the face with the reality of Pro Hero work at the age of fifteen all over again. And now, I’m stuck wishing he had just stayed dead. You know how screwed up it is to wish your old best friend was dead instead of — instead of a monster?”
His voice cracks in the silent room.
“I can’t pretend to know what you have seen,” Toshinori says softly. “But I know that it’s a burden that not even a Pro Hero should have to bear.”
Hizashi manages a weak, tearful smile. “Then at least you, Toshinori, understand why trying to be there for all of you all of the time has not been working for me. I can’t do it anymore. I’m sorry.”
He sighs. He hadn’t expected to feel better after letting everything air out — but Hizashi feels lighter, somehow, even amidst the struck and devastated faces of his friends. He winces, unable to meet their eyes. He hadn’t wanted to hurt them — but he couldn’t keep it in any longer.
“I think Hizashi is right,” Tensei murmurs. Shouta looks up and meets Hizashi’s eyes, but the two say nothing at all. Nemuri nods.
“We’re sorry, Hizashi,” Nemuri says quietly. “We...we’ve hurt you. I think...I think it would be good if we spent some time alone. None of us have been processing this well. I’m glad you told us.”
Hizashi bites his lip. He wants to cry; he doesn’t want them to go, but he knows there is nothing else to be done. Nothing else to be said.
“I’d like to stay,” Toshinori murmurs. “If that’s okay with you, Yamada.” He looks around the room, stricken by the others’ response. Maybe this was for the best, but is leaving Yamada really what’s best right now? He doesn’t know.
Hizashi offers him a weak smile and, much to Toshinori’s relief, nods in weary agreement.
“Thank you,” he murmurs. The rest murmur pained goodbyes, and Hizashi wishes them well. Shouta opens his mouth as though to say something more, but Hizashi only shakes his head.
“Shouta. Not now.”
Shouta looks down and nods. Shuffling out the door, he follows his friends out of the apartment door, leaving Hizashi alone with Toshinori. The silence that follows feels stifling, and when Hizashi hides his face in his hands in a barely-concealed sob. Maybe it’s the way Toshinori approaches him and places a hand comfortingly on his shoulder; maybe it’s the way he says nothing at all, merely lets Hizashi cry and cry until there’s nothing left in him to weep for any longer.
His silence and his simple, gentle touch are enough for Hizashi to let go.
“You can’t be there for everybody all the time,” Toshinori murmurs. “You have to separate that roll from yourself. Without learning to do that from a young age, I would have destroyed myself much more quickly than I already did. You can’t do that to yourself, too. You have a bright and promising career that is still years ahead of you, Yamada. Embrace it for you, and don’t let yourself be dragged down by impossible expectations.”
Hizashi nods in agreement. Toshinori smiles and offers him a hug, which Hizashi gladly accepts.
Over the weekend, Toshinori comes to visit Hizashi frequently, offering to cook for him and bring him takeout on Sunday night. They laugh and talk about television shows and work. Toshinori even helps Hizashi clean the apartment, which Hizashi had, admittedly, let get to an unacceptable level of disaster over the past couple of weeks. All at once, Hizashi vividly understands just why Yagi Toshinori is Japan’s Number One Hero. He’s kind — terribly, terribly kind and patient beyond even Hizashi’s own understanding.
Maybe, having someone simply let Hizashi let go had been exactly what he had needed.
_____________________________
On Monday night at the bar, Nemuri, Shouta, and Tensei drink in uneasy silence. Shouta nearly didn’t come. His silence weighs on them all like a heavy blanket.
“We need to do better,” Nemuri murmurs. “All of us.”
The other two nod in agreement.
“We’re all struggling. But it was no excuse to treat Hizashi the way we did,” Tensei points out. “We’re all at fault. We need to get over our own crap and get through this together. We did before — we can do it again.”
As doubtful as Shouta is, he agrees for the sake of agreeing.
The following week, Hizashi’s behavior is strange, to say the least. He says nothing of their conversation at his apartment and seems to almost back to his usual self — but without Hizashi’s typical and endearing over-the-top cheer. He calls Shouta ‘Aizawa’ even when they’re alone, which isn’t often. And while he gives pointers on grading and offers to help open a door when Tensei is carrying an armful of books and other supplies, it’s as far as the extent of his help goes. Hizashi keeps a measured, practical distance, and it’s enough to leave Shouta dumbstruck and quietly scrambling for any sign of his old partner and friend.
“Distance,” Toshinori had told Hizashi gently before leaving on Sunday night, “might be the kindest way of taking care of yourself. I am not suggesting you abandon your friends. But you have to place yourself at a distance away from them that they relearn to take care of themselves while you heal, too.”
Hizashi had agreed. And once he’d committed to the practice, it had been easier than he had expected. But he’s angry — angry at himself, angry at them, and angry at the world, most of all. He doesn’t like the invisible emotional barrier he’s committed to placing between him and his friends. But, at the end of the day, he can’t deny that it just might be helping him. Even his distance from Shouta seems to be taking some of the weight off his shoulders when he returns home after teaching class.
At the end of the day, Shouta checks his phone. Hizashi would have texted him at least twice by now — be it about a date, or even just a stupid picture of a cat that he found online. But there’s nothing. He had grown used to that ridiculous point of contact from the other so much that he hadn’t realized just how much he’d relied on it until now.
One, single text from Nemuri sent to him and Tensei vibrates across his phone.
We’re losing him.
Shouta doesn’t respond; but he knows that the simple statement is nothing but the raw, unyielding truth.
A week of Hizashi’s emotional and psychological distance comes and goes, and Shouta isn’t so sure he can handle it anymore. He misses Hizashi more than he ever thought he could miss a person he sees almost every single day. He wants him back, not as a caretaker or a bearer of Shouta’s own tight-knit emotional burden, but as a partner; as someone to spend the weekends with, someone who can make him laugh ‘till he’s snorting and red in the face, and someone he can simply spend time with without the weight of the world across their backs. He never thought he’d find himself craving the physical touch that Hizashi so willingly doles out — even when Shouta isn’t exactly in the mood for it — or the way they used to embrace late at night, quiet and unrelenting in the dark of Hizashi’s quiet bedroom.
He’d treated Hizashi like something disposable. He, Tensei, and Nemuri all had. Not willingly, no — but in their own, self-centered grief, Hizashi had been the last ray of sunshine they’d clung to in hopes that the world might treat them kinder once they’d dragged their feet to the end of whatever long, relentless tunnel that seeing Kurogiri at Tartarus had thrust them into.
They just hadn’t realized Hizashi had been left behind, unable to reach the light they had to believe existed, even if they couldn’t see it just yet.
Shouta lays in his bed early that Friday night and stares at the dull, unchanging ceiling of his bedroom. Hizashi had always brought so much color into the dullest of places. His bedroom never felt so barren as it did when Hizashi wasn’t here. Sighing, Shouta grabs his phone off the nightstand and all but jams his fingers into the buttons to dial Hizashi’s phone number he’d memorized long ago.
Hizashi picks up on the fourth ring.
“Hello?”
It takes Shouta a moment to answer. He feels his pulse race in his throat like he’s a teenager talking to Hizashi for the very first time all over again.
“Hey, Hizashi.”
“Hey, man.”
They remain silent on the line, and Shouta sighs.
“How are you?” Shouta asks quietly. He drapes an arm over his eyes, gritting his teeth. His voice sounds fake, and he hates it.
“I’m alright!” Hizashi chirps. “Hands Up Radio just got another sponsor last night, and I’ve been freaking out about it. It’s great news, y’know?”
Shouta breathes a quiet laugh. “That’s good to hear,” he murmurs. “I’m proud of you.”
“Thanks!”
The line goes silent again. Shouta closes his eyes and takes a steady breath, choosing his words carefully.
“Would you want to get coffee this Friday night? Maybe to celebrate?” Shouta asks. “I’ll buy.”
Hizashi is hesitant to respond.
“You want to get coffee?”
“Yeah. Honestly, Hizashi, I miss you and I feel like shit for the way I’ve been treating you.”
Shouta hears Hizashi sigh quietly. “Shouta, it’s — “
“Don’t say it’s okay, because it’s not,” Shouta snaps. He bites his lip as he tries not to sound harsher than he intends to. Emotional vulnerability is completely and utterly not Shouta’s thing. And maybe, just maybe, his precise lack of emotional vulnerability is partly what got him into this very particular mess in the first place. Swallowing his pride, Shouta grits his teeth and lets the words come out as honestly as he can muster.
“It’s not okay to treat you like a disposable therapist just because you cope with shit by throwing yourself into the midst like an eager cocker spaniel while the rest of us sit on our asses and mope. We all lost someone, and yeah, it’s especially fucked up to lose someone this way. They didn’t teach us this stuff in school. But we didn’t become heroes for the ease of it all, Hizashi.”
Shouta clenches his teeth, gripping the phone harshly in his hand as he forces himself to keep his voice steady over the line. Doing this is hard; but so is everything else about this situation. He’s never given up before when something was hard, and he doesn’t intend to start now.
“I don’t expect you to forgive me,” he says slowly. “But my last, lingering shred of narcissism makes me think that maybe I’m worth it enough for a second chance.”
After a moment, Hizashi sighs again.
“You’re so lucky you’re hot, you know that?” he says finally.
Shouta lets out a sound between a harsh laugh and a sob.
“I know I am,” he croaks, laughing quietly into the receiver. “Trust me.”
Hizashi lets out a soft giggle.
“Thank you, Shouta,” Hizashi says seriously. “Thank you for...thank you for apologizing. Look, in your defense, I should have said something sooner. I shouldn’t have kept how I felt bottled up for so long. I didn’t communicate what I felt because I was afraid it would only push you all further away. This past week...I just needed space. And...maybe a small part of me needed to know whether or not you would reach out when I pulled away. I guess at heart, I’m still a kid desperate to be the center of attention.”
They both laugh bitterly.
“We’re all emotionally stunted,” Shouta mumbles. “I don’t know how Toshinori does what he does without losing his goddamn mind. Number one hero and that man still has it in him to smile. I know some of the shit he’s seen, but there’s gotta be stuff that he just doesn’t talk about.”
“I don’t know,” Hizashi admits.
Shouta hums. “Have Tensei and Nemuri reached out to you?”
“No, they haven’t.”
“They will. Just — give them time.”
That seems to please Hizashi well enough, and he agrees that he would.
“So, coffee this Friday?” Shouta asks again.
“Yes!” Hizashi chirps. “Maybe we can...head back to my place afterward..?”
“That sounds good to me.”
“And have sex?”
Hizashi’s small, hopeful voice makes Shouta laugh harder than he has in weeks.
“And have sex,” he confirms. Shouta’s smile never leaves his face. “And maybe,” he continues, “We can even cuddle and watch a movie after.”
Hizashi’s pleased yelp hurts Shouta’s ears, but the sound is quite possibly the most beautiful sound he’s ever heard.
