Jordan loved the Coast City he knew-- and soon its destruction he'll seek to undo. To blot out this, his darkest hour, he knows that he will need more power. Thus the madness of grief will leave its scars in a swath of destruction he'll cut 'cross the stars.

Seeing another post about Batman back in the 90's being tormented in Hell by a demon pretending to be Jason Todd, reminded me of this, from Underworld Unleashed, but I didn't want to derail that post.

Underworld Unleashed #2 - Mark Waid, Howard Porter
Honestly, the description of what the Joker killing Jason would have SOUNDED like adds entire new levels of horror to that whole scene. It's impossible to reread "A Death in the Family" without thinking of it.

Reading Teen Titans ‘03. I must confess I’m disappointed that they had Raven show Superboy that he had a soul rather than standing by the infinitely funnier established canon, which is that Kon already knows he has a soul because the devil tried to buy it from him once.

JJ & or /Selina + "devil"?
She'll never get the whole story out of him, that is as certain as the Amen in a church.
Although he won't outright lie to her, they both know that she'll see it and to spare her (his?) feelings, he'll deflect, redirect and generally stay as vague as possible, positively tightlipped for someone who is almost perpetually grinning.
But it haunts him, eats at him, follows him.
Sometimes she is almost certain she can see a second shadow stalking him, preying on him, eating (at) him.
When she's being honest with herself, she is glad (and ashamed of it) that he won't share what he saw, what happened to him, what was done to him - it would haunt her too, giving her a shadow to match.

So I asked this question elsewhere but I’d thought I’d ask you and any other Rogues fan that wants too. I’m not sure if you’re aware but Raven dealt with Neron in Nightwing’s comic. He has been dethroned and I was wondering what this meant for the Rogues and Especially James Jesse. Seeing as the reason he became a good guy was out of fear of Neron.🧐
Sadly, I suspect DC has mostly forgotten about Neron's connection to the Rogues, because there have been a bunch of times we thought/hoped it would come up but it never did. I remember the fandom was so hyped when the Reign In Hell miniseries came out because it was about a power struggle in Hell during a time James was dead, but he wasn't even mentioned. On the other hand, the James and Neron thing was Mark Waid's idea and he's now back at DC again, so maybe we really will see it again.
James had generally been trending towards anti-heroism even before the Neron thing (it just gave him a REALLY good reason to behave) and there have been a variety of reasons given for that, some satisfactory and some not. Most people don't like the 'Roscoe made the Rogues reform' retcon, and yet it's probably still canon…I say "probably" because Joshua Williamson made that arc a key part of his 'James is an evil mastermind' story, but at least he didn't directly reference it in the actual story. So maybe there's still hope it'll be forgotten? But what I'm getting at is that plot makes it convenient for DC to ignore James' Neron connection and leave Neron mostly a villain for magic-based characters. I think Waid is probably people's only hope for getting that story brought back.
