Haven't seen Heartbreak High trend once on tumblr since it came out and I only have one question: WHY!?

Heartbreak High honestly has the best representation that I think I've ever seen. Racial diversity and POC representation, queer rep including a non-binary person (an AMAB non-binary person which is so refreshing because so many people only think of non-binary people as being AFAB) and acespec rep, autism rep (an AUTISTIC GIRL which is so rare and I was so happy to see it, and played by an autistic actor). And it's also just SUCH A GOOD SHOW I LOVED IT. It was such a good and accurate representation of Gen Z, like I genuinely would believe that these people exist in real life. And the FASHION. MY GOD.

Please please go watch it because I really really need a second season it's just so good and it deserves more episodes. It's dramatic and comedic and serious and fun and just the right balance of realistic and entertaining.

Plus, on a personal note, because I really struggle with reading subtitles and the non-synching of dub I don't watch many things that aren't in English, and it was really nice to get a peice of media like this that is so absolutely non-American. It is so thoroughly and unapologetically Aussie and I loved it (I didn't understand all of it, had to google what eshay means, but I loved it).

Highly recommend.

To all my BBC Merlin fans who also love a good slowburn angsty romance, YOU HAVE TO WATCH ONE DAY!!!!

I initially watched it bc the ML looks like exactly like Arthur Pendragon (at least to me), and then in the first episode they climbed up Arthur’s Seat and it was just such a perfect coincidence (I spend the entire first episode thinking about reincarnated Arthur)

Ofc that’s where the similarities end more or less, but it’s what got me initially hooked, and what led me to discover THE BEST ROMANCE SERIES OF ALL TIME

So true bestie! The minute I laid my eyes on Gabriel Boutin any hope of being straight was gone. Poof, nada. While i may not have converted to the gay life style my bisexual levels are through the roof!

i think heartbreak high may be one of my top 5 shows of all time just from the queer autistic representation, with chloé hayden bringing a top tier performance as quinni as well as the rest of the cast, and everything else great from the show just really wraps it together into this beautiful package and it just fills my heart. please watch it if you can.

Happy Queer Media Monday!

Today: Badhai Do (2022) (Title translates to “Give the Good News”)

Badhaai Do is an Indian comedy movie about a gay police officer and a lesbian sports teacher, who get married in hopes of getting their families to stop nagging them about being single. Hijinks ensue, as they both pursue their own romantic relationships on the side, try to keep up the semblance of a good couple, and need to find an explanation about why after a year, they still don’t have any children.

It is a funny movie, that is clearly made with the aim to humanize queer people and champion equal rights, which it is really good at. It also has a very realistic feeling to it. I have no doubt that many queer people have lived, and are still living, this exact same life. It is especially nice that, all in all, it is a happy story. We as a community do tend to have a slight tendency to assume that the only way of being happy is to be 100% out, which is why we really need more stories like this or The Blue Caftan (2022), where gay people in more traditional societies live perfectly happy and fulfilled lives.

Badhaai Do is available on Netflix.
