'Portrait of the artist N.K. Evlampiev' as painted in 1905 by Nikolai Ivanovich Feshin (1881-1955). I have a feeling that the original looks significantly different to this, the colour balance is different, but it looks fine to me in this version.

After today's post about young Central Asian impressionists, about the magnificent museum in Nukus, my emotions flowed in bizarre streams)). I remembered Pavel Petrovich Benkov (1879−1949), who worked most of his life in Uzbekistan, and then the great Nikolai Ivanovich Feshin, they were friends and rivals in their youth.

Russian and American artist Nikolai Ivanovich Feshin (1881, Kazan - 1955, Santa Monica, California, reburied in Kazan in 1976). Painter, graphic artist, sculptor, carver, representative of impressionism and modernity. I have always been attracted to his paintings by a light, I would say graceful, combination of impressionism and modern.

This is "Portrait of Alexandra", written in 1927-1933. On it is the artist's wife Alexandra Nikolaevna Feshina (Belkovich, 1892 - 1983). She is also depicted in the painting "Lady in Grey" in 1924. I'll post some later.

I saw a lot of paintings by the artist, but these two are my favorite.

She played the lead role in Henry King's Romola (1924). It was difficult to tell from the images in the black and white silent film, but this film shows that she wore a bright mauve costume
