I really enjoy shooting images with a Nikon d4. A foggy day with great color and I become a very happy camper.......so to speak.

past!me fucked up and left batteries in my digital camera, and they corroded like hell. it looks so messed up :/ but it's a $100 camera that I bought at least twelve years ago, so I'm thinking I should just bite the bullet and buy a new one. I'm attempting baking soda + q-tips right now, but I'm already bracing myself for the inevitable.
and like, this obviously sucks, but I do think it's hilarious that I had just decided to start taking photos again with the new year and immediately biffed it.

"Did I stumble through your darkness, or was I just another one?"
February;
This month is often something of a false spring. A few days of 60 degree sun before the frost returns. Seeds planted that don't get to take root, scorched away by winter's last freeze.
"Did you open up your heart there, or were you quiet and afraid?"

I’m gonna be one of those people with like 10 cameras. Curious what everyone shoots with, what do you like/not like?

one thing i really miss is photography. i used to take so many pictures and i was good at it but a terrible college class completely destroyed my confidence. the professor hated everything i did and made me feel awful about my work.
i try to quiet the critical voice in my head when i take photos now but it's hard. i want to take photos for work because i have realized my coworkers are scared of the library d-slr. it's a model i dislike (the interface makes it hard to switch between modes and the menus make no damn sense) but i decided today that i am going to learn everything i can about that camera and really work on taking good photos for work. i'll have defined projects to shoot which is always better for me and how i take photos.
anyway, all to say that i want to take photos again and maybe recapture some of the joy i once had behind the camera.

It Is Commented How Life Can Imitate Art (Joshua Tree National Park) by Mark Stevens
Via Flickr:
It Is Commented How Life Can Imitate Art But there are some times when life can look like an art painting A snowy landscape amongst the Joshua Trees It is almost a surreal feeling That the eyes just have to tell the mind That is really exists and wasn't painted I hope others experience a nature painting seen with the eyes And have that chance to stand in awe of the creation all around that we see in life. Another work of short poetry or prose to complement the image captured one morning in Joshua Tree National Park during a snowstorm. This is at a roadside pullout along the main park road around the Ryan Campground area. The setting is looking to the east across a the mountain desert landscape present with sage brush, creosote bushes, and Joshua Trees seemingly all covered with snow (with more snow falling!). The painting idea came from the look with the snow and an almost surreal look with the many typical desert colors muted or covered in that whiteness. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 6 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
