I think Hobi and Jimin are gonna keep me fed. And I also can get delivery from the restaurant near my building.

But I'll admit, I've been existing mostly on ramen and applesauce pouches at work when I'm recording. You get into this flow and you don't want to stop working because you are making progress. Suddenly six hours have gone by. I'm sure you get it.

I'm busy for BTS Festa, but it's a fun busy. It gives me plenty to do while you guys are in Australia. Good luck on your tour! I'm going to try to get some tickets myself.

Spring 2024 Teaser

And we're back!

This has probably been our longest recording season ever thanks to the scope of projects we wanted to feature here. Some of the projects started in 2023 while others only finished at the end of March.

This season is packed with guests! Beyond the usual appearances from @ginnymoonbeam and @lurkingshan, you'll get to hear from our friends @so-much-yet-to-learn, @wen-kexing-apologist, and @twig-tea as we talk about the continued presence of OffGun and TayNew, our first dedicated GL episode, a discussion of what may be the longest running BL project, a breakdown of shows that started strong but finished weak, and a massive two-part Grab Bag episode to cover a wide gamut of projects.

You're going to be with us for many weeks, so stay tuned for our releases.

The Conversation Transcripts!

Thanks to the continued efforts of @ginnymoonbeam as transcriber, and @lurkingshan as an editor and proofreader, we are able to bring you transcripts of the episodes.

We will endeavor to make the transcripts available when the episodes launch, and it is our goal to make them available for past episodes (thanks to ongoing efforts from @wen-kexing-apologist). When transcripts are available, we will attach them to the episode post (like this one) and put the transcript behind a Read More cut to cut down on scrolling.

And we're back. We have missed you all. We are finally done with all the VIIB Awards. We're finally done with watching way too much shit this season. and we have so much to talk about. I'm very excited about this season because, finally, I won. We talked about way too much Japanese stuff this season.

[laughs] Ben, at the end of last season in the year in review, he said definitely Japanese is where it's at going into this year. And so far looking back in the winter, some of the stuff that I have probably mostly enjoyed, to be fair, has been some of the Japanese work. So, I am on the ride, I'm on the train with you all. There will be a lot of JBL being talked about in here. A little bit of some other stuff, but yeah, a big chunk of it's going to be J-BL and J-BL-adjacent? So that's what you'll be looking forward to.

The season is one where we're talking about the history and evolution of the genre a lot. We're going to have an episode focusing on GMMTV continuing to work the OffGun and TayNew angle, and how we responded fairly positively to that. 

We're going to talk about the ongoing experience from Japan via Ossan’s Love. 

We're going to finally get to talk about GL in its own episode on the show, and it's not just going to be one project that we're losing our minds over here. 

We decided to properly reflect on some shows that were trying to do something and did not really deliver the way that we hoped, or maybe even the show hoped, they would. 

And then we're going to do two back-to-back grab bag episodes because, while there was a ton of stuff that happened in this season, we weren't able to organize them into a cute setting. So we're going to unpack some genre stuff in one episode and all of the extra Japanese stuff in its own episode because there is just that much of it. 

As always, some of you sent us some questions. Thank you. And we have a new segment with one of our friends that we're really excited for you to see in the back half of the season.

warnings-minor angst, swearing, fluffy fluff fluff!! this one is super cute for once

"you okay now baby?" Jin whispered, a cold cloth stayed compressed against your head as you laid against the pillow

"mm" you slowly nod, feeling the tiredness set into your body after the massive panic attack you suddenly had while you were eating dinner with him.

You werent sure what caused it, but the moment you started disassociating and he caught on, he jumped to make sure you were comfortable while you rode it out.

"just take deep breaths, it's okay....you are doing so well" he gently kissed your neck, his body close to yours for comfort compression. "want the lights back on?" he whispered

"no...its nice right now"

"okay honey, can I get you anything?"

"just lay here with me"

He nodded and wrapped you closer, his hand rubbing up and down your side slowly. His own mind raced with thoughts of fear, "I didnt know you were getting these again"

"me neither" you closed your eyes "I havent had one in almost a year so I assumed I didnt need my medication but...I guess I'll be seeing my doctor this week" you sighed, voice tired.

"sorry baby" he whispered

"not your fault"

"I know but I wish I could just protect you from this...I just want you to feel safe when you lay with me at night"

You open your eyes to look at your boyfriend, "Seokjin, I feel the most comfortable when im with you, you are my home, my safe space, theres nothing more you could possibly do for me, I love you so much"

He smiled sadly, "I love you too"

"and see, you knew what to do, you calmed me down and helped me out of it slowly, If you werent here I would be so scared" you whispered, holding his hand. "you are a good boyfriend, and I feel so safe with you, I promise"

"I feel safe with you too" he leaned in to kiss your lips gently, hand resting on your hip bone under your hoodie.

"good....thats how relationships should feel, im sorry for scaring you" you smiled

"dont be sorry, as long as you are okay now...thats all that matters"

You nod, "im sad I didnt finish the pasta you made"

He giggles softly, pulling you closer, "I put it in the fridge for tomorrow, its safe"

"oh good"

you both giggled quietly, hands touching one another so softly and gently, it was a quiet, intimate moment for you both.

"stay by my side forever" you whispered, fingers grazing his cheek while you look into his eyes

"you couldnt pry me away if you wanted to, my love"

Dari Abu Hurairah, Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam bersabda,

« أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ طَيِّبٌ لاَ يَقْبَلُ إِلاَّ طَيِّبًا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ أَمَرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بِمَا أَمَرَ بِهِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ فَقَالَ ( يَا أَيُّهَا الرُّسُلُ كُلُوا مِنَ الطَّيِّبَاتِ وَاعْمَلُوا صَالِحًا إِنِّى بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ عَلِيمٌ) وَقَالَ (يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُلُوا مِنْ طَيِّبَاتِ مَا رَزَقْنَاكُمْ) ». ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ الرَّجُلَ يُطِيلُ السَّفَرَ أَشْعَثَ أَغْبَرَ يَمُدُّ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ وَمَطْعَمُهُ حَرَامٌ وَمَشْرَبُهُ حَرَامٌ وَمَلْبَسُهُ حَرَامٌ وَغُذِىَ بِالْحَرَامِ فَأَنَّى يُسْتَجَابُ لِذَلِكَ.

“Wahai sekalian manusia, sesungguhnya Allah itu thoyyib (baik). Allah tidak akan menerima sesuatu melainkan dari yang thoyyib (baik). Dan sesungguhnya Allah telah memerintahkan kepada orang-orang mukmin seperti yang diperintahkan-Nya kepada para Rasul. Firman-Nya: ‘Wahai para Rasul! Makanlah makanan yang baik-baik (halal) dan kerjakanlah amal shalih. Sesungguhnya Aku Maha Mengetahui apa yang kamu kerjakan.’ Dan Allah juga berfirman: ‘Wahai orang-orang yang beriman! Makanlah rezeki yang baik-baik yang telah kami rezekikan kepadamu.’” Kemudian Nabi shallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam menceritakan tentang seorang laki-laki yang telah menempuh perjalanan jauh, sehingga rambutnya kusut, masai dan berdebu. Orang itu mengangkat tangannya ke langit seraya berdo’a: “Wahai Tuhanku, wahai Tuhanku.” Padahal, makanannya dari barang yang haram, minumannya dari yang haram, pakaiannya dari yang haram dan diberi makan dari yang haram, maka bagaimanakah Allah akan memperkenankan do’anya?” (HR. Muslim no. 1015)
