What do you think of Edelgard/Hubert as a romantic ship?

Not the biggest fan, honestly. I think there's a place for deep yet non-romantic devotion between people. It's why I don't personally read Dimitri and Dedue as queer for each other.

With Edelbert especially, it rubs me the wrong way how their A support rapidly recontextualizes the root of his devotion and doesn't concern itself with whether she feels the same way for him. Additionally, both have pairings with others that are way better (Huberdetta, Hubernand, Edelthea, Edeleth), and lastly, while Edelgard really needs an emotional anchor and Hubert serves her well... He isn't the right person for that job.

Edeleth with Hegemon edelgard is so healthful and tragic. Like just imagine her transformation stemmed from her need to achieve her goals, and for a slight moment she allowed the one thing that she feared to happen, she loses control. Turning into the physical representation of everything she despises about herself. Fueled by her own ambitions, she barely holds on to her consciousness as she slowly allows her inner darkness take over, a manifestation of her ow trauma and fears.

Byleth just looks at her, horrified by what’s happened to her, yet would never dare to leave her side when she needs her the most. And just imagine Byleth trying her hardest to reach Edelgard, begging her to listen to the sound of her voice and to not let the beast inside her take hold. All the while Edelgard, with pain in her monstrous eyes, demands that Byleth leave her, to not look at their. She’s worried that in her deformed state she”ll hurt her. That’s she”ll destroy the one good soul that’s tethered her and became her foundation. Byleth refuses. She slowly approaches Edelgard, wrapping her arms around her dark charred body, embracing her without any fear or hesitation. Edelgard stiffens for a moment, then cries deep into Byleths shoulder.

genuinely i don't think a day goes by that i don't think about this scenario in my head lol. edelgard 100% is always overworking herself and byleth is always concerned and trying to get her to take breaks. <3

also, yes! i just finished scarlet blaze today. though the more i play it, the more I just want to play three houses again so probably just gonna speed-run all the other routes now on NG+ and then go back to three houses (crimson flower again, obviously 😅).

"Edelgard."

The white-haired woman stumbled mid-attack, startled by the sudden call of her name. Lowering the wooden axe, she turned to find Byleth standing at the opposite end of the training grounds.

"P– Professor," she stammered between heavy breaths; undoubtedly from exhaustion, primarily, however it was clear she had also been startled. "How…long have you been standing there…?"

"Long enough," Byleth said, calmly, as she began to walk across the training grounds towards Edelgard. "It's getting late, you know. You've been here a while. I thought we'd all agreed to take a break from training today?"

A hint of guilt flashed across Edelgard's features. "I know, we did, but…well, between everything else, I don't have as much time to train, and I need to keep getting better. The closer we get to the end of this war, the tougher it's going to get, and–"

Edelgard was silenced by the sudden grasp on her shoulders – firm, but not forceful. She met Byleth's gaze, the taller woman unwavering, and her tone as firm as her grip.

"You're overworking yourself… Please take a break." She gently squeezed the woman's shoulders. "You'll only end up worse if you push yourself too hard. This is exactly why we all agreed to take a day's rest."

A sigh fell from Edelgard's lips, and she lowered her gaze. A part of her was resigned only because she had been caught, she would admit as much; and yet the guilt which had momentarily been visible on her features shortly before was very much still in her heart, at the notion she'd broken a promise she and the rest of the Black Eagles had made.

"I'm not angry," Byleth said softly, the silence leading her to doubt what was going through Edelgard's mind. "Nobody else is, either. We're just worried about you."

Edelgard shook her head, and looked up with a smile. "I never thought you were angry, I just… I'm sorry. I know we all agreed not to train today."

Byleth reached down with her left hand to take the training axe from Edelgard's grasp, and the shorter woman didn't resist. 

"Come on," Byleth said, keeping her right hand on Edelgard's shoulder, "how about we get something to eat in the dining hall? Or, if you're not that hungry, at least join me for tea and some sweet treats."

Frankly, the fact the Empire wins only if the merc avatar is on it's side really says a lot. Houses & Hopes shows how screwed the Emperor is, when the player unit opposes her in the other sides.

It is very odd too, because in both games the Empire has the clear upper hand. They've got the most territory, probably the largest population, and the largest military of the three nations and can seemingly match the Alliance in wealth and resources, along with a bunch of other advantages...and yet Edeleth was so important to the writers that Edelgard can never manage a solid win unless Byleth is in her corner.

(Obviously that's also true of the others, but on paper Adrestia has such a massive advantage that it's ridiculous that they're just as dependent on a self-insert.)

On the edelgard critical crowd: hypocrisy

Oh one last thing since the edelgard critical crowd are so good at victimizing themselves and deflecting. No, i’m not part of that guys group or whatever and im not a he. I don’t use reddit, I despise reddit since the platform didn’t do anything until it was to late and still does nothing against incels spreading out when it was very easy to put an stop to the subreddits. I have little patience for intolerance, bigotry and discrimination unlike some of you who go hopping around right-wing forums and the manosphere to get your twisted opinions. I’ve been actually in this fandom in tumblr since last summer (when nilsh had the ingrid portrait then changed to dimitri then changed back to ingrid, when the pink haired gal had a pfp that i though it was hilda with glasses with a blue background, maybe it was her i don’t know, when I guy from who then moved to star wars fandom was still around, etc.) but not participating just liking things (not hating unlike others).

Do you guys really think that someone needs to sound the alarm to know you through tumblr? As soon as i searched “edelgard” (whenever I like a character I’m interested in reading analysis about them I search them in tumblr from people who appreciate them and point little writting details I may have missed) I was met thousands posts from you guys. Because you guys don’t really stop talking about her character 24/7 and that’s been going for a more than a year, when you search edelgard all you see is your posts.

And I honestly reached my limit at a cishet guy using real life queer issues for his fandom arguments, although he also infuriated me when he used the invasion of Ukraine because i knew he was going to do it (ohh im so sad let me take a week and then i shall compare edelgard to putin), but in the end I decided to not interact. Stop using tragedies for your gain, next I’ll see you selling your grandma’s ashes or something.

You guys say that you don’t foster harassment yet I found just few days ago a twitter account made expressly like clockwork on July 1 to harass people you have targeted in your blogs and quote tweet (eventhough one of the post was from ages ago). @Baldootto is the guy (maybe is one of you people or maybe not, who knows using secondary accounts until you get caught is a nice gig, just another Blue Lion stan of your kind who wants other Blue Lions fans to burn because they disagree with them). Also, you have a tag to make fun of a fic writer, #o captain my captain, and you even have the chapters stored in a drive, just how ridiculous are you people? Yes, you are victims, victims of obssesion at least.

And for the one that using edeleth against me was a hot take, I don’t ship them my byleth ended up alone. And honestly they are many ships were you could make a critical stand (aka ships were the women end up as only wives who support their hubands in the endings, husbands who actually do and achieve things unlike their women, so many other thingies people have critizised from the writting). Like honestly one thing are the writers and another thing is the fandom and what content this fandom does. And related to what the fandom does, in fact some of your friends make fetishy fics about noncon also, are you going to be critical about that or just the harassment joke on that support in three houses?

And as I said proshippers of the worst kind should stop multiplying, we don’t want you double edged hypocritical morals about harassment. It’s funny how according to these proshippers you can like any problematic fetishy piece of content and j**k off to it. To them you shouldn’t harass those people (a.k.a them) on the internet over it, but somehow if you like a character they don’t like and make a popular fic or an analysis about them that is suddenly a problem.

Have fun with the fire emblem gacha series! It is always nice to remember how weebs and gamers meeting together breeds out lots of proshippers. Like the amount of weird and terrible fethises I’ve seen in this fandom while defending it disgustang (try to defend that in from of people that are not 24/7 on internet and look at their faces).

All of that while being deeply morally grey which makes it all the more interesting ? Count me the fuck in

Favorite friendship ? Mmmmmh.... I love Ferdie and Bernie's friendship but also Ingrid and Ashe's but also Raphael and Marianne- they're all so pure in their own way !

Just some passing thoughts on the Three Hopes supports for Edelgard

I didn't look at all of them since: A) I don't have the game yet (might buy it later this or next year) B) Didn't really have time to just sit down and watch em all

But there were fewer supports than I expected a fire emblem game to have. Although this is technically a warriors game so I guess it's probably different here. They did have some pretty interesting support choices, especially with the ones with different characters they added in that Edelgard didn't get in Three Houses.

Obviously, I meant the Edelgard and Jeritza support, which was actually a surprising take on their relationship compared to how I (and probably most) saw it would be. Between the two of them in this new Jeritza support, he seems almost sane compared to how he's regularly depicted in Three Houses. (Although he's pretty sane-ish in most of his supports. Just not with Byleth then, I guess.)

(Spoilers maybe? under the cut)

Jeritza and Edelgard's support seems to show the two in a more equal/friendly(?) standing than I expected. Death Knight doesn't really show up but he's definitely touched upon. I feel like it's not as surprising in hindsight that Edelgard knew Jeritza's original name, but it's surprising that she would call him Emile. Edelgard does not mince words with him at all, but the dialogue also seems like they're definitely friendly with each other to some extent. They mention the contract between them a few times, and honestly, Jeritza appears to respect her to a decent degree. What's most interesting is the contract, or rather, Edelgard's thoughts on that end of the deal. She blatantly tells Jeritza that while she admires his determination to follow his own path, she thinks he could atone in better ways than being stuck in a prison cell. Jeritza replies that it is his path.

In that sense, they really are similar to each other in that aspect. They'll carve their own paths the way they wish, through hell and high water.

Jeritza is also shown to feel rather greatly indebted towards Edelgard. And I guess he's kind of fine with her calling him Emile occasionally. Plus he's decently dedicated to the cause at least in this support.

Also Edelgard low-key tries her best to bug Jeritza and I think it's very funny. Yeah you go girl go bug him.

I do wonder if they ever met as children?

(Nintendo out here feeding that part of me that desires more Edelgard & Jeritza content. It doesn't even have to be romantic I just wanted them to interact since 3 houses kinda just dropped him and his supports like a hot potato and called it a day. To be fair Jeritza/Edelgard would be really interesting.)

Hubert and Edelgard's support is very in your face with how close the two are. I love it. Whether you ship them or not it's still very cute. Edelgard blushes in it and I think that's adorable. They should kiss, actually. Thank you Nintendo, for feeding the part of me that craves edelbert content.

But that's not what I fixated on the most from their support.

What I did fixate on, is the A support section where Edelgard mentions a strange pull/connection to Byleth. Both Hubert and Edelgard theorize that it could be due to the implanted crest of flames, which makes sense. Yet it does bring up some implications about Edelgard's quick attachment to Byleth in all routes in Three Houses. Does the crest connection magnify positive feelings towards Byleth? Other than other factors, was this why Edelgard was so quick to trust Byleth? Who knows, but it's pretty interesting fic fuel. It could either be edeleth or not. Just a fic exploring that (magical?) connection between the two.

Overall though from what I've been reading three hopes' storyline is kind of odd and sort of fluctuates between ???? and pretty interesting and why. But maybe I've only been looking at the false(?) ends.

Shez actually gets to speak here in comparison to Byleth, so maybe that's an improvement? Definitely seems more engaged in the conversation as an actual character I guess.
