Faroe Islands — Denmark
One of the world's most remote places is also one of its most beautiful. In the Faroe Islands — an off-the-beaten-path, 18-island volcanic chain in the North Atlantic — you'll be gobsmacked by scenery that includes Mulafossur Waterfall and the Vestmanna Bird Cliffs. Plus, there are puffin breeding grounds, lighthouses, grass-roofed houses, and chances to spot the elusive Northern Lights!

The Originals instead of Klaus' Originals
Novelty -Giving the originals characters a fleshed out arc that isn't purely at the mercy of Klaus.
Character of the day - Mikael
Tumblr media
My take on this character would be giving him a father figure role once more. Here's how I would write the Originals. There wasn't anything terribly wrong with Mikael I hated. So this post is pretty short.
Mikael, in particular, gets another chance at parenting with a young man aged 17-22. Let's call him Brett. The two are kind-of forced to work together. Brett is an enigmatic, highly skilled and tactical fighter, adept at offering advice and assistance due to his humane nature. He's perhaps the best hand-to-hand combatant in the TVD universe, often engaging in intense fight scenes, including a memorable showdown where he expertly handles a threat from a werewolf. where he get's threatened by a wolf to biting him (he keeps his wolf side a secret pretty well) and he cuts off the werewolves hands and puts a blade to the werewolves mouth and tells him to try. Pretty Tactical you know. Brett maintains a secret identity as a wolf, keeping his distance from both wolves and other supernatural factions. He has a signature weapon, perhaps a unique dagger or sword, which becomes symbolic of his prowess. In scenes, we witness moments like Brett dulling a blade, prompting Mikael to intervene and scold him. But Brett doesn't back down, asserting that a dulled blade inflicts more pain. And maybe Mikael gives him a scar or something- could've taken his eye out, but didn't, and the ever so perceptive and understanding kid isn't mad at Mikael , but actually sees through Mikael's twisted love or whatever. And we see this by acting and stuff.Their interactions are marked by these subtle exchanges. The relationship between Mikael and Brett evolves into a father-son dynamic, unspoken but deeply felt. This would be the start of where Mikael sees Klaus in him and how the viewers do too, the viewers only find out Brett is a wolf a little before Mikael, where it's pressured and really close.
Now Mikael has his secrets too. Mikael's secret would be his character development. Mikael keeps his desire to kill his son Klaus. What he's basically known for. So, you could see many scenes where he truly tries to hide it, which would be really cool to watch. Seeing Mikael protective and defensive versus his usual offensive.
A secret rooted in Mikael's shame. This shame transforms Mikael's character arc, leading him to prevent Brett from ever thinking he'd actually harm him. Their bond is further tested when their hidden truths are revealed, introducing drama and tension. This time Mikael stays with Brett, even after finding out he's from the same clan as Klaus.
And with Brett, Mikael's secret is only revealed with an encounter with Klaus where Klaus kills Mikael. Brett doesn't intervene due to shock and other complex feelings. Mikael accepts Brett's reaction too, as expected.
Even after Mikael's death, Brett mourns his passing. He grapples with conflicted feelings, attempting to convince himself that he never truly liked Mikael. In a poignant moment, he speaks to Mikael's lifeless body, inadvertently revealing his true emotions. Klaus overhears this conversation, experiencing jealousy but ultimately unable to act on it due to the realization that Brett is fulfilling a role he desired—an emotional outlet. This realization feeds into Klaus' need for the hatred that sustains him.
They could add a ton of their english norse culture into this. I really liked the Davina and Mikael arc if you couldn't tell.

Scientists have warned that a marine heatwave off the coasts of the UK and Ireland poses a serious threat to species. Sea temperatures, particularly off the north-east coast of England and the west of Ireland, are several degrees above normal, breaking records for late spring and early summer. The Met Office has said that according to records dating to 1850, global sea surface temperatures in April and May reached an all-time high, and June is likely to follow suit. A professor of Earth sciences, Daniela Schmidt, said 'the extreme and unprecedented temperatures show the power of the combination of human-induced warming and natural climate variability like El Niño'. Experts said marine heatwaves have a similar impact on the environment as wildfires on land, destroying organisms that store carbon such as kelp. The damage caused is also harmful to humanity, which relies on oceans for oxygen, storm protection and food

A customer came into work yesterday and said he was moving to a secluded town in the middle of Everglades National Park so he could get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. He then started talking to me about how he wants to retire in Argentina because steak prices are super cheap down there, and he ended the conversation by saying "hey man, next time you need a break from all this, you should go down to the Bahamas and catch a mail boat in Nassau. It'll take you up and down every island, you get your own stateroom, you'll catch the best fish you've ever eaten."
My dude, I make $14 an hour at a roadside motel. When do you think I have the time or money to take an international vacation? I couldn't afford to take a 3 hour tour on the SS Minnow, let alone a Caribbean cruise (yeah, I know the Bahamas aren't in the Caribbean, but you know what I mean). WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TALKING ABOUT, MAN?!?

On 10th February 1972 the Island of Rockall, 250 miles west into the Atlantic formally became part of Scotland.
To start here's a wee poem Ifound by a comedy duo Flanders and Swann, who were an 50's 60 act.
We sped across the planet To find this lump of granite One rather startled gannet In fact, we found Rockall.
The uninhabited rock is 25m wide and 17m high and is actually the remnants of an extinct volcano.
The tiny islet has been the source of an ownership dispute involving the Scotland, Ireland, Denmark and Iceland. The plateau on which it sits has caused the decades worth of tension.
While we might think we own it I agree with the United Nations definition in cases like this.....“Rocks which cannot sustain human habitation or economic life of their own shall have no exclusive economic zone or continental shelf.”
So that’s the end of it right?
Well no, as the UN’s rules explicitly apply to “rocks which cannot sustain human habitation”, there have been attempts to prove that Rockall is in fact an island and does not fall into that category.
Former SAS soldier Tom McClean spent 40 days on Rockall from from 26 May to 4 July 1985 in an attempt to validate it as an island and make it a British territory. Since then Greenpeace activists spent 42 days protesting against exploration and five years ago in 2014 Scottish explorer Nick Hancock occupied the rock for 45 days.
For the moment though, the status of the Rockall remains that the UK claims is at part of its territory, more specifically, Scotland. While Ireland does not accept this claim, neither does it argue that Rockall is Irish.
While on the subject, met Tom McClean back in the 90's when he had his "boat" Moby berthed at the Water of Leith near the Docks. He invited us aboard for a tour of the strange craft. Tom had planned to take it across the Atlantic, it has yet to come to fruition, but I don't discount anything from this man, even aged 78! Tom was the first man to row across the Atlantic solo in 1969.
