I've recently received word that I will be getting funding for the research trip I wanted to make to Scotland! My intention was to spend 2 weeks doing archival research at the University of Edinburgh, for my future dissertation. This is intended to greatly expand on my MA paper which examined the Whig-Jacobite contention as a religious dispute through the lens of contemporary popular song and verse. The dissertation is intended to dig much deeper into that song and verse and examine a number of different angles to it. The funding is supposed to be disbursed this fall, so I will likely be making the trip in early-ish fall.

In other related news, I've now passed all 3 of my written comprehensive exams, and have only the oral exam to go before I will officially move from PhD student to PhD candidate. go me
