The dark world in the attic of the Church of Kris's hometown is a snowy landscape home to a town of Christmas decorations in boxes, turned into a village town normally full of the namesake cheer.

When Kris, Vess, and the rest of the Fun Gang actually arrive however, the cardboard town is decimated, it's Christmas lights are flickering or broken, and (for the most part) its deadly quiet apart from the windy flurry blowing in. The frenzied Nothings running rampant have seen to all of it, and are still trying to get the remaining townsfolk

so when food is too salty we might say "打死卖盐的" basically meaning "did you beat the salt merchant to death" but one time in an attempt to be a little polite and a little funny to the chef (my mother) i said "……是不是又跟卖盐的有矛盾了" meaning "are you... having a dispute with the salt merchant again" and now it's a whole thing in my family
