Khilo O'ndanya — Warrior of Light
Tumblr media
Age: 23 (Start of ARR), 31 (As of Endwalker 6.5)
Race: Miqo'te, Seeker/Keeper
Gender: Cis Female
Pronouns: She/Her
Orientation: Biromantic, Asexual
Height: 5'4" / 162cm
Birthday: 8th Sun of the 3rd Astral Moon (8th May)
Birthplace: Ala Mhigo; raised in Little Ala Mhigo, Southern Thanalan
Guardian: Rhalgr, The Destroyer
Classes: Monk, Samurai, Dragoon, Dark Knight, Sage, Paladin, Warrior
Born in Ala Mhigo to a small family consisting of her mother, father and sister, Khilo's first few years of life were peaceful until the Garlean invasion of the land. Her parents were both slaughtered in the attack, and her sister missing and presumed dead, Khilo was lucky enough to be found by another group of surviving Ala Mhigan's who took her with them as they journeyed to Gridania and through to Thanalan.
Knowing next to nothing about her birth family didn't truly bother her, growing up. Khilo was perfectly comfortable with the family that she'd found and grew to love in Little Ala Mhigo. As she got older, she showed an interest in pugilism and wanted to help out as best as she could. The older refugees were happy to share with her all they'd learnt as Monks. When they had taught her all they could, Khilo soon found tutelage under Hamon Holyfist, who became a good friend and mentor to her.
At 23 Summers old, Khilo chanced to meet Thancred Waters and was soon brought into the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. They quickly became family to her, and there's nothing she wouldn't do for them.
Khilo is an outgoing and optimistic individual who might be a bit clumsy at times, but don't underestimate her. Those who don't know her may call her childish, but Khilo is one of the first to take a situation seriously. She's fiercely loyal to those she considers family and friends, and if you've wronged her or someone she cares about, she is not quick to forgive or forget.
She's eager to befriend almost everyone she meets on her journey, collecting quite a catalogue of allies from all over the star and beyond. She's always first in line to help you with anything you might need- be it a simple grocery run, or saving your brother currently being attacked by monsters.

A Disappearance
Tumblr media
It was O’ndanya Liza’s opinion that rolanberry tarts were always delicious. Furthermore, the ones Barnaby Wyznfarr baked were, in a word, sublime.
Not that she thought the one that had been cooling on the counter had really been meant for her. But what did Barnaby expect? Surely he didn’t think it would still be there when he came home, as long as she was crashing at his apartment?
She’d had a good turn of fortune, and she knew it. She’d first encountered Barnaby when she’d tried to burglarize his home, a moon ago now. Covered with grime and wearing dirty, torn shreds for clothing, it had been plain to see O’ndanya was one of Ul’dah’s many homeless urchins. He’d caught her in the act, and although she’d hissed and scratched him several times in the encounter, he’d shown compassion towards her.
Now, she sat on his bed, wearing clean clothes Barnaby had bought for her out of his own coinpurse, her pink hair and fluffy tail silky clean. She hummed to herself with pleasure while her tail swished over the duvet, polishing off the last of the tart with a noisy burp.
She’d finished it off not a second too soon. She heard the front door open and shut. A moment later, the hulking form of the roegadyn trudged into the room.
His great shoulders slouched, and his face looked distraught about something.
O’ndanya burped again, louder this time, then hopped down on all fours to brush against Barnaby’s leg. She was only thirteen, and her ability to move like a coeurl was something Barnaby hadn’t seen among miqo’te before. He guessed that perhaps it was something their children sometimes did, that they outgrew as adults.
“Ni-ahh! Did you bring me something to eat?” O’ndanya serenaded, as she wound about his leg. “Look how hungry I am, Barnaby; I am withering away!”
Barnaby turned towards her, his brows furrowed in a picture of worry. He sighed, slowly sinking down into a chair.
O’ndanya blinked at him. Deciding to make herself even more of a pest, she leaped into his lap, brushing his face with the end of her tail. “You’re frowny today. That isn’t fun,” she complained.
Barnaby sighed again, trying to push the end of her tail out of his face. “O’ndanya, something’s come up.” He pressed his lips together, trying to think of how to explain what had happened to a 13-year-old. “A friend of mine… C’arli’s... gone missing.”
“Missing? Now why would she do that?” The miqo’te child pouted at Barnaby, as if this were all his fault. “Maybe she just got tired of everyone else, and wanted a break? I know I don’t always want to be found.”
“No, it’s… complicated.” Barnaby rubbed a hand over his face. “She feels responsible for a death. This person that died, was someone very important, to someone important to her.”
“She killed someone?” O’ndanya’s feline ears perked up with interest, and she grinned. “She must be really strong!”
“Oh, she is. And this was a wartime death. Even if she was responsible, she must know deep down that she shouldn’t blame herself for it.” He sighed, his expression weary. “...I’ve been making inquiries all over Ul’dah… If… If I had been a more supportive friend, or if I’d been more attentive… Maybe this wouldn’t have happened.”
Barnaby crossed his legs, looking sad. “I hadn’t… been spending much time around her. But there was a reason for that, and I believed it to be for the best. If I’d known what she was going through… That she struggled with something like this…”
His voice trailed off, and he stared vacantly at the wall.
O’ndanya considered her friend’s words. “You already do so much,” she replied slowly, her tail twitching. “I’m sure she knows how much you care about her. How much her other friends care.”
The miqo’te pawed at Barnaby’s cheek. “I think you’re worrying too much. Maybe C’arli had a bad day. Maybe she needed time to think about things alone. Maybe she’ll come back when it’s the right time. If she can kill someone, then she can handle things by herself?”
“Yes.” Barnaby smiled slightly. “Of that, I have no doubt.”
The Hellsguard looked a little more at-ease. He brought his feet underneath him, and rose from his chair. O’ndanya hopped off his lap, accompanying him as he went into the kitchen.
The tart he had baked earlier was conspicuously missing. Barnaby frowned at O’ndanya reproachfully. “That wasn’t meant for you.”
“Ha ha ha!” O’ndanya laughed at him ruthlessly. “Then who was it meant for, ni-ah?”
Barnaby looked to be about at the end of his patience. “That isn’t any of your concern, you imp. Off with you, now!”
He waved her off, O’ndanya giggling madly as she vanished from his sight.
