Family, legacy. I have none of those things. I am no one. But you. You are like me.
Vespertine, an assassin. Otho, a prince. One meant to kill the other, instead saves a life. The prince is not what he seems, but wolves will always recognise each other...do they not?
_________
OC story! Failed assassin and secret werewolf prince falling in love during political turmoil. What could be better? Will I post more of them? Who knows...

Meet my addition to the not-so-tiny town of Hatchetfield, Arianna! She’s the daughter of the head of the CCRP office, a competitor in the Rollerama fighting ring and a university student who’s working on herself while dealing with familial trauma and being much more enmeshed in the lore than she’d like. I drew inspiration from Greek mythology, namely fusing the unlikely couple of Dionysus and Princess Ariadne.

Me & the questions aren’t going anywhere lol
1: if they can design their hair what type of haircut would they create? Buzz cut, Mohawk, half shave like prime earth lor-zod, bald XD etc..
2: is the whole Superman getting his identity revealed canon to your universe? ( not the one where he openly reveals it but where he got blackmailed) & for angst & sadness, this takes places after the invasion of zod, imagine sitting in a classroom next to the introvert boy who open up a portal & got your love ones killed.
3: would Jon feel angsty with the super twins if aged normally? Maybe feeling the same way Chris felt when he was growing up: abandoned & replaceable.
4: would they use farts as a weapon? I can see Jake squatting over that victor zassz guys face & letting out a high rip XD
5: speaking of that, a villain for Jake: similar to smoke from mortal kombat, but uses farts instead of :p
6: any Christmas themed outfits? Maybe just add a blue & green Santa hat for Chris & Jake
1) As kids and preteens, their respective hairstyles remain as they’re usually depicted but as they reach into their later teens, that’s when their hairstyles deviate even if it’s slightly, more or less based on their canonical appearances in their respective stories. As such, upon reaching his mid teens, Chris sets to smooth and shorten his hair on it’s sides and back, leaving mainly his bangs intact. Then there’s Jake whom also trims off the top but most of all, combs his bangs upward having a noticeable streak present. Only instead of white akin to both in New Order or more commonly Jason Todd’s, Jake’s streak would be red like his Mother’s hair
2) Ideally no not really, I don’t really intend to have that plot angle be incorporated personally into my universe since the optics and wider scale consequences would have to be be addressed and past canonical times that’s happened have proven the concept is precarious in execution.
That being said though, had Chris’ identity alone though had gone public (Lois can come up with a generally accepted cover story of Superman letting the kid be cared for by his longtime Daily Planet friend Clark after the Bizarro incident just in case), then that Angsty route of him overhearing and bears the brunt of his classmates who blame him for the tragic consequences of Zod’s invasion should be excellent to explore for his character. It makes his doubts about whether Earth being his true home or not still linger as a constant source of internal turmoil and anxiety all the more palatable as he can feel all of that loss was his doing at the end of it. This is further complicated by also though of people like other classmates who still believe in his heroism and being a positive spot in their world. He did them is still their hero in spite of everything and it’s not just Jake and Jon that are telling him that.
All of that is delicious stuff to tackle for stories and I’m quite surprised that frankly I hadn’t tho if they too deep about it till basically now lol
3) I have a feeling that can be somewhat the case but I don’t foresee even an aged-up-too-fast Jon merely holding it all in just because of his sake. I can fully see him even talk with the twins about those emotions out of honesty but also reassurance that they belong in the family as much as Chris and him do. The twins are likely being accepting and understanding of those thoughts their adoptive big brother shares in the best way they know how. I don’t think I can call immediate reconciliation but it has a start and it can grow as their bonds grow over time.
4) …..mmmm…Nah. Funny as the idea sounds at least in their heads, maybe at for most for like panels where they have thought balloons showing that visual, the Duo are not exactly gross humor based when doing superhero work. Maybe some slapstick and definitely snark but not gross out
5) I can see a villain who utilizes gassy smells and other flatulence related gimmicks being akin to a joke villain for Skybird, akin to one of Spider-Man’s lesser known and often derided foes, Big Wheel. Maybe like some dude bro in his late teens who never really grew out of his early high school life, having been expelled from so many schools for his crude humor that at most he can get a GED. So he turns to small scale crimes and mischief to fulfill his habits, like a prankster type of villain that regularly gives the Bludhaven PD massive headaches to deal with. He dubs his villain moniker The Gas Master.
6) Maybe Jake can have a Skybird suit with the yellow parts if the torso being a light red while the main parts are instead differing shades of green. The cape can also be a solid white like the snow itself. Finally, Skybird can wear a hoodie with similar colors of green and light red with a white band to reflect the Holiday spirit in the air.
Then there’s Chris which the only real change to his suit in fitting for the Holiday season can be small Santa pins on the right side of his shirt.
Apologies for the long wait but here are your answers my friend. @gothicghost2000 thank you very much for your patience

🔺🥯😞 for nelia and ilanius, obviously, and one other of your choosing !!!
🔺does your oc know how to use any weapons?
Nelia - Nelia depends solely on her magic in lue of a weapon. Her knowledge of weapons is really just "sharp end goes in enemy, don't get hit with enemies sharp end," though I can't blame her. Her unique ability lets her tap into the source of all magic, meaning very strong spells, without paying the price of using such spells. Where others must be granted that access, Nelia gets a free pass to take as she pleases. However, she still has limitations and rules she must follow. She can't just rain fire on a city just because she feels like it.
Ilanius - Ilanius is well versed in weapons. His stepfather raised him pretty much as his son, giving him an extensive education. Ilanius is often duel-wielding short swords but knows how to use various swords, cross-bows, and a bow and arrow. Ilanius also was born with magic, though to no avail has he been able to control it. Many have tried to teach him the art of mastering chaos. So, in theory, he could attempt to use that as a weapon, though his opponent would likely best him while he was casting.
Otho - Otho, much like Nelia, knows what end to stick them with, and that is all. Though he loves to tell people he studied to become a bard at the College of Winter's Edge. Winter's Edge is not a Bard College; it's known for being a school that mainly teaches necromancy, illusion, and transmutation. Though most laugh off his claim, there's more truth in it than many would think.
🥯 what does your oc's typical breakfast look like? do they usually eat breakfast?
Nelia - If Nelia is near civilization she'll eat whatever the locals recommend. If she's traveling with someone, they usually will catch and cook something and share it with her under some sort of agreement. If she's traveling alone, she usually fends off hunger with anything she can forage. Hunting with magic makes anything caught pretty much unedible, and she lacks the patience for traps.
Ilanius - Ilanius will eat whatever he can catch if he's in between cities. If he's near civilization, he usually eats poached eggs on some sort of bread and if he can afford it he'll have bacon too.
Narsi - As a Lady in a wealthy family Narsi typically eats honied portage with fresh berries, a small plate of bread with different cheeses, and smoked ham/fish depending on the season.
😞 does your oc attract others, or do they tend to be left alone?
Nelia - Whether intentionally or not, Nelia tends to scare people away. She claims she likes it that way, but girlie lies through her teeth. In minor interactions such with merchants, inn keeps, and barmaids many walk away from the interaction pleasantly surprised she wasn't all as bad as she seemed. Mama didn't raise her to forget her manners.
Ilanius - People flock to Ilanius like a moth to light; he easily earns people's trust. That being said, he'll compliment you to your face only to talk shit about you behind your back, though usually it's well deserved... usually. Ilanius is very charming and easily liked, and that's what makes him so dangerous. I'm not saying he's a bad person, but maybe watch that valuable family heirloom he's nonchalantly eyeing.
Yaenfiera - Once upon a time, Yaen inspired love and respect everywhere she went. Now? One mention of her name and people spit. If she dared show her face? Well, no violence occurs -she was anointed by the divines to speak on their behalf; you can't just go punching holy figures- but horrendous words are thrown her way. I guess that's what happens when you start a war (albeit she didn't draw first blood, but Ivaenia had every legal right to declare war and break the 500-year war treaty, among other treaties), only to bounce when your people need you.
ask me more?

Ok story time! A story how my OC Heidi came to be. Check it under the cut if you're interested, otherwise enjoy these sketches of a fantasy royal family.
Warnings: infidelity, infertility
So Mariam, as the queen, is married quickly so she can produce heirs. She choses Othos or Othos is chosen for her. The first picture is their wedding portrait.
When they're young, Otho has to go on longer trips sometimes because of his work. Sometimes, but not always, Mariam has to stay behind to take care of her duties. They do not get pregnant immediately after the wedding.
Mariam is a beautiful young queen, surrounded by a lot of people. Unlike some royals, however, she also gets time alone, and not there is not someone always following her. During her time alone, while missing Otho (and their bed), she meets a fairy soldier. He's been around before, so Mariam is not completely unfamiliar with him, but they've never talked. Somehow they have a chance. Maybe Mariam is sulking in a garden and the man is doing is rounds around the yard. Idk.
They get along really well. Mariam doesn't think anything of it to spend time with him, and as you already probably guesses, they end up in bed. Or on the grass in the garden. Or behind a convenient heavy curtain somewhere. You know.
Othos returns pretty soon and when Mariam turns out to be pregnant, it is a joy for everyone. Mariam stops thinking about the fairy soldier she had an affair with and throws herself into celebrating the coming of an heir to the throne of Rozavie.
Heidi is born. She is a pretty young girl child, with blonde hair and dark blue eyes like her parents. Nothing seems amiss.
Until Heidi grows a little, and starts showing magic. Magic she shouldn't have.
You see, both Mariam and Othos are wizards. Wizarding magic is very different to fairy magic. While wizards always need some sort of an object to channel their magic through, fairies need none of that. Fairy children especially are very carefree and easy with their magic.
It is very clear to everyone in the know that Heidi is most certainly not Othos' child. Both Mariam and Othos come from long lines, all of which have been marked down carefully. Wizardry is the highest valued magic in Rozavie, and practically everyone in their lines are wizards.
I have not thought this far yet but I think they will make up an affair somewhere up in Othos' line which would explain why Heidi is a fairy, so there is no scandal. However, that does not heal her parents relationship, and it turns chilly for years. They halfheartedly try for more children, but they do not conceive.
(The problem is Othos, unfortunately. I'm not sure if they ever find out, but there definitely are people who suspect.)
When Heidi is a teenager, Mariam and Othos finally make up. This time they throw each other more passionately into making children, in hopes of getting a boy child. While Heidi is and will be the legal heir, they are hoping to trade her with a boy. It is the latest fashion, after all. They do not believe Heidi would be a popular queen, or a strong one.
(They are wrong.)

my toybox of bg2 to bg3 consistancy canon is that:
Bhaalspawn otho and xan get it on
xan finds out otho is bhaalspawn and is like. Oh corellon would Not Be Pleased. chooses the moonblade over the boy toy (valid)
Otho starts to embrace the more monstrous parts of himself. Irenicus breaks something in him. Viconia really likes the new otho. she follows him all the way to his ascension. knowing it was doomed from the start, she expresses her heartfelt pride and bittersweet admiration for her ex lover as he becomes a god.
Motherhood doesnt suit viconia. when she gives birth to otho's child, she abandons him to an orphanage in baldur's gate.
Viddhara, the dark urge, grows up much like his father - abandoned by his mother, struggling with forces he doesnt understand. only, when Orin scrambles Viddhara's brain, he rejects his urges, fighting against the taint within as hard as he can. Otho/bhaal calls for his son to answer, and is FURIOUS to hear him refuse. More so furious at Orin for breaking his favourite scion.

I know we all talk about how both Pokey and Tinky obsess over their blorbos, but those are just 2 of the examples we have that show the true genius behind the writing for the lords.
The two main examples I'm referring to are Watcher World and Yellow Jacket.
Watcher World sees (heh) Blinky have a whole ass breakdown because the story he was invested in didn't go the wait he wanted despite him trying to force his headcanons/theories into reality.
The more egregious example would be the existence of Otho. He is literally the most blatant, out of nowhere "100% original oc do not steal" on par with something a 14 year old would post on Deviantart 10 years ago. He's so out of place, it wouldn't surprise me if the whole Roller-rama thing only exists in that timeline, directly due to Pokey's influence.
The true horror of the Hatchetfield franchise as a whole isn't that a small, remote town is used as a sandbox by 5 elder gods. It's that those elder gods behave like beligerante fanfic writers.

haters can hate all they want, but i really like what we've gotten so far with otho ra and osul ra. given, superman has like ten kids across the varied canons, and SURE, there was no need to create more original characters to fill that space when there were others who existed for periods of time, but i think for the narrative kennedy johnson was trying to portray, otho and osul were perfect tools to highlight his preferred themes. i just hoepe they don't die violent deaths because kennedy johnson doesn't want his OCs butchered to high hell. i love my niece. she's insane but she takes good care of her brother, leave her alone.

Saw a post about Rhys being insane for going after Illyrians who worked with Amarantha while he also worked for Amarantha which reminded me very strongly of a bit that I've been casually working on in my notes app because I have Amarantha’s Takeover Rule Brainrot
Loosely connected with my ficverse and featuring entirely OCs but -
The Illyrian had his hands up. He was speaking - the same word over and over -
"Sanctuary. Sanctuary. Sanctuary. Sanctuary."
Martialis kept his hand raised in stay, but did not lower his short sword. "Who are you? Identify yourself at once!"
"Azeneth of Ironcrest," said the Illyrian. His long hair was a tangled nest of black, a few braided pieces around his pallid, terrified face. He was young, Pyrrha realized with a start - no older than she was, if even that. "Sanctuary. I mean you no harm."
"Liar," someone spat, to her left.
Azeneth's eyes widened; his head whipped to the sound, so Pyrrha got a close look at his eyes - the pupils large as saucers, the whites stark, tears pricking at the corners.
"Its the truth! Please - they'll kill me if I don't fight - the High Lord has gone completely mad -"
"And how do we know you were not sent here to spy on us?" asked Martialis calmly.
Azeneth looked pleadingly at the captain. "They will kill me," he repeated. His fear was genuine; he reeked with it. The green siphoning stone on his chest shone ominously as his emotions flared.
"How did you manage to escape?" Martialis continued.
Azeneth wet his lips. His wings twitched and there was a shift, a series of clanging sounds, as the soldiers behind him lifted their spears and poised to throw. At once, he raised his hands higher, demonstrating his surrender.
"The general is missing," said Azeneth. "We believe that he has been killed - and my unit commander raised this concern with the wrong person - he was executed, and while they were all distracted, I ran."
"And the wards? How did you pass through unscathed?"
"There is a hole on the southeastern segment of the city wall," Azeneth confessed at once. "It hasn't been repaired yet, and its high, so only someone with wings can break through. We know all the weaknesses in the wards - I came through that point, and the others will be coming through after me. They are planning to send a small force to the main gate as a distraction while the Illyrians break through the weak spot. Then the rest of the army will follow."
The south wall - the school, Celestine, was there. Pyrrha's blood ran cold, and it was clear that she wasn't the only one. Martialis's expression was grave, and he ordered, "Tell Keeper Darnic to warn his counterparts, and send a message to Otho and the general."
There was a flurry of movement as one of the priestesses broke free from the group and rushed off. Pyrrha did not dare take her eyes from the Illyrian, who was noticeably trembling.
"Thank you for your information," said Martialis. "For your contributions, a quick death."
Azeneth let out a whimper, but before the captain could attack, Lucretia raised her voice.
"You do not dare spill innocent blood in the Mother's sacred hall!"
Martialis spared the old priestess a glare of indignation. "He's an Illyrian spy," he said, as if she were too stupid to have figured it out. "Illyrians are trained to kill from the womb. We cannot let him live."
"How dare you?" Lucretia's voice, though throaty with age, was still powerful. "The Mother loves each of her children and lifts them when they stumble!"
"We don't have time for sermons!"
"You are right," said Lucretia, lifting her chin. "I am merely reminding you - this is *my* temple. I am the Reverend High, by age and by decree. And if this child claims Sanctuary in the arms of the Mother, then I grant it without hesitatation. Those who would tarnish the Mother's sacred hospitality and compassion have no place here."
Martialis colored with fury and shame flashed across his eyes. Pyrrha understood at once what he must be feeling - not only had Lucretia just threatened to upend their war plans and throw Martialis to the literal wolves at the door, but the old woman had a special talent for enforcing discipline. Serapion slacked off on chores and argued with his parents, but he'd always known better than to sass his grandmother. They all did.
"Disarm him!" The captain snapped the order, but it wasn't directed at anyone in particular and nobody moved at first.
Pyrrha raised her spear and relaxed out of her stance. Her feet carried her - one step, two steps, three steps, four steps - until she was within arms length of the Illyrian.
She held out her hand.
Azeneth began pulling black stone knives from his person - long, curved blades strappedno to his chest, and four daggers strapped to his waist, and another, smaller one in his boot. He dropped them all to the floor one by one, letting them clatter and clang against the tiles. The last thing he removed was the leather strap which held the green stone, and this was the only thing he handed to Pyrrha, placing it gently on her palm.
Her fingers closed around it as she took a step backward. It was warm, and seemed to have a faint heartbeat.
"Search him!" Martialis commanded.
Two male soldiers stepped forward and did so, roughly yanking on his leathers and slapping their hands hard against his body. Azeneth winced, but did not protest.
"Clean!"
Azeneth slowly lowered his hands. No one lowered their weapons.
Martialis broke the tension by sheathing his blade, and turning to face the old priestess.
"Where can we keep him?"
Lucretia's mouth pursed and she said, "He is a guest, not a prisoner."
"Be that as it may," said the captain flatly. "We are at war."
Lucretia looked at Pyrrha, who stared back at her blankly. She was still holding the stone out; she realized she was somewhat afraid of it, and then chided herself as she forced her body to stand normally, arms at her sides. Illyrian siphons were powerful, but they were only stones once they'd been removed from their wearers. Azeneth was harmless.
"My grandson could use some help with organizing our medical supply," suggested Lucretia. "Perhaps our guest might be willing to help?"
Azeneth lowered his chin as a few soldiers snickered to see his expression.
Pyrrha said, "Sure. I'll take you to him. This way."
She looked at Azeneth, who eyed her a bit warily, but followed when she walked. She felt every single eye - her peers, the other priestesses - and only paused when she reached Lucretia's position by the doors.
"Keep your eyes open," the old priestess advised.
Pyrrha nodded. That would be wise indeed.
