When Dawn Settles: Brief Character Info

(Please Keep in mind this is a WIP for my VN, and changes will most likely take place)

This will be reposted as designs of characters will be released

I have only officially released Silas so far as a character. While characters are still in the works, I have the rough draft of all the characters down so far. They will of course need to be altered and tweaked a bit before I start officially creating the demo, but I wanted to release some brief information about them.

There is at least six romantic interests (Silas, plus the five Romantic Survivors that MC has teamed up with). I am considering making the secondary antagonist at least ‘chase’ after the MC.

I would also like to point out....

While Silas had the potential to be the most dangerous or destructive love interest, that doesn't necessarily mean the others have a clean history or the best morals either.

Below are listed characters and rough draft of their plots

MC (Main Character) (Default Name TBA)

They are survivors of the apocalypse with five others. They are either helping the other five get ready to move camp or interacting with Silas. They live in a small bedroom on the second floor that faces a shed and the open meadows of the village. They were originally a scout who watched out for zombies, but with less than two zombies showing up a month, they help the other survivors with tasks so they all can leave for the city.

MC is a character made to represent whatever the player wants. MC is the character that the player controls. Their actions and dialogue of the player.

The player will be able to select the gender of the MC, as well as their preferred pronouns.

I haven't created an official design for MC, but I will most likely play around with an AMAB, AFAB, and Non-binary design for fun

I do plan on creating an empty sheet where anyone can create their own version of MC when things are a little bit more established.

Silas

Age: Mid-Twenties

Pronouns: He/Him/His

Weapon/Skills: Machete and Manipulation

You weren't aware there was another survivor in the area until this unknown man saved you from a zombie. Though in all honesty, you aren't sure where he came from. He's tattered, pale, and almost sickly in appearance.

But he seems kind, and helpful, and he has kept you safe. Something just seems off about him... Oh well. He is helping your group move to the city after all.

He's oddly cold to the touch…maybe that's why he calls you his Warmth.

Oakley

Age: Late Twenties (28-29)

Pronouns: Any

Weapons/Skills: Skillet and Housekeeping

The pacifist and most caring of the group! They aren’t much of a fighter but what they lack in fighting and guts, they make up in kindness, creativity, and interpersonal skills! They have even found a way to preserve a small garden! Oakley mostly is found throughout the farmhouse and has taken up the living room couch as their room. They are the best cook, and cleaners, which they feel is the only reason why they have been allowed to stay in the group.

If you’re in need of cheering up, a hot meal, or to decompress, Oakley is the best person to go to! Though their positivity can be somewhat unrealistic and forced. They mean well of course. After all, good things happen to those who wait...

Age: Young Adult (think 19-20)

Weapon/Skills: Screwdriver and Speed

The Runner of your group. He is the fastest out of the five survivors. Dominick is usually tasked with gathering supplies from the abandoned gas station. Dominick is usually quiet, and when he’s not out on a run, he’s up in his room which is the attic of the farmhouse. He’s extremely useful to have if you need supplies!

They have an obsession with a small hand-held radio, that he had been working on since everyone first got on the bus. He hasn’t exactly explained why he tinkers with it, but when it does work, it seems to pick up on the city’s radio station. only to tear into static seconds later. While everyone has told him to give up on it, he continues to try and fix it desperately.

Theresa (Tessa)

Age: Mid-Twenties

Pronouns: She/Her/Her’s

Weapons: Drugs/Needles and Medical Knowledge

Good thing you all have a medical student in your mix! Tessa is extremely helpful when it comes to healing anything from cuts, to colds. The only reason you all have probably managed to stay alive is because of her brain. Soft spoken and unfortunately direct, she hasn’t exactly adopted a bed-side manner yet. That’s what school WAS for. But she appreciates patience and humor of the group. She sleeps in the basement of the farmhouse, so she has room work.

It’s not much of a fighters, as her medication can’t do much against the zombies, but she is working on a drug to try and aid against any zombie that crosses her path. She is very determined to personally stop any zombie that she sees. Though she seems paranoid even at the sounds of the foundation settling...

Valerio (Val)

Age: Mid- 30s (Idk I felt like a DILF character was needed)

Pronouns: He/Him/His

Weapon/Skills: Shotgun and Management skills

Val is the oldest but not so wisest of the group. He’s is the grouchy bus driver, turned Marksmen that got you all stranded in the middle of nowhere. Well, maybe you should be thanking him. After all, if you were in the city when the outbreaks happened, you’d all be dead. Anyway, he figures he’s cool with shooting at any zombie that shows its ugly face up from his master bedroom window.

Though he’s been on edge lately. Maybe it’s because the gas station is running out of cigarettes... Maybe it’s because he’s claiming to see something or someone that’s not there. Just standing in the meadow. Watching you all.

Legend

Age: Mid-Twenties

Pronouns: He/Him/His

Weapons/Skills: Metal Pipe and Desensitization

...No one knows what his actual name is. He just is determined to go by Legend. Cocky, ruthless, brave, and spirited, Legend is the guard and hunter in the group. He is the strongest in the group. He is willing to use whatever it takes to keep the group safe and to get them to the city which makes him impulsive, and a bit hot-headed.

Legend is also tasked with a lot of the ‘dirty’ work which consists of killing zombies and getting rid of the bodies. He seems to laugh at it or shrug it off. He tries to make a lot of dark humor towards the whole situation. He even jokingly named the figure hiding in the meadow.

Right, so it's pretty well-agreed upon that there's literally NO way Emma could've been the android in TGWDLM.

But like, can you imagine how fucking hilarious it would've been if she WAS?

Like, Cup of Poisoned Coffee starts up, and Emma 2 just IMMEDIATELY grabs Nora and Zoey by their necks and YEETS them over the counter. Paul is watching on completely dumbstruck, and Emma 2 is just like

And then they go to alley and Paul's just like "what the FUCK was that about!?", and Emma 2 says "So, funny story! I'm an android from the future, and I murdered the original Emma so I could take over her life! Nbd, nbd". Meanwhile Paul's over here on the verge of a mental breakdown bc on top of this musical apocalypse, he just found out that the woman he's been crushing on for an undisclosed amount of time is a Murder Toaster from the Future.

So Bill, Ted, and Charlotte pop out, and they SUPER overheard that ENTIRE conversation. But before anyone can really say anything about it, Sam and the cops show up. The SECOND a note leaves Sam's mouth, Emma 2's just like "oh FUCK that", and whacks him over the head with the trash can lid, and probably kills the other cops too. Ted's immediately like "Okay, yeah, she's staying" bc if this really is the apocalypse, having a hyper-competent death machine on your side is a VERY good idea.

They go to Hidgens, and things proceed pretty normally for a while. Paul and Emma's conversation proceeds,,, differently, not really sure what they'd talk about. Anyways, Charlotte comes in.

Infected!Charlotte: It is time, TO DIIIIIIIIIIII-

Emma 2: I THINK THE FUCK NOT, BITCH *immediately beams her in the head with a chair*

She makes quick work of Charlotte and Sam, with No Hesitation I might add. She's a robot, she doesn't give a shit, man. Everyone is slightly horrified, and when Hidgens comes in, still with his cigarette and shotgun, he's VERY disappointed that he didn't get to shoot anything. But he doesn't suspect anything's off. Bill gets the call from Alice, and instead of the debate being "Should Bill go to save his daughter?" it's "Let the goddamn death bot go with you, dude." But she has to stay behind to assist Hidgens in the lab.

Emma 2 is listening to Hidgens go on about the Hive's origins and world peace and all that, and then...

Emma 2: -So if we take it out, will all these things just die?

Hidgens, pulling his syringe out: That's a sound theory, Emma. Which is why it must never leave this room...

*he injects the needle into her neck*

Emma 2, COMPLETELY unaffected: ?

Hidgens: what the fu-

So Emma 2 just straight up fucking STRANGLES Hidgens for trying that shit, he's dead now, no Workin' Boys pitch for him. Paul shows up, and they grab the still-drunk-because-he-wasn't-knocked-out Ted so they can get to the helicopter in Oakley Park. Since Workin' Boys didn't happen, Jreg doesn't show up and drag Paul off and cause Ted to run away like a lil bitch, so they ALL meet the Infected PEIP at the same time. MacNamara shoots Ted, and at first Emma 2 is like "good riddance, honestly", but then Mac starts singing, and yeah she goes FULL Birdhouse scene on the PEIP soldiers (+Ted).

They get in the helicopter, SIGNIFICANTLY more blood-soaked than they were in the actual show at this point. Zoey, still piloting the helicopter but with a 100% more broken neck, points the gun at them, the helicopter crashes, yadda yadda yadda. Emma 2's leg is damaged, instead of blood, there's like sparks and motor oil and damaged circuitry and shit. When she and Paul try to kiss, she coughs up motor oil in his face, which is somehow MORE gross. Paul leaves to go blow up the meteor.

Two weeks later, Emma 2's in the hospital in Clivesdale, and PEIP has repaired her leg. Emma 2 asks if Colonel Schaeffer is gonna say anything about her being an android to the public.

Schaeffer: Your secret's safe with us, Kelly.

Emma 2: Okay thanks, but why'd it have to be Kelly? I liked my old name!

Schaeffer: Well, last I checked, it wasn't YOUR name in the first place.

Emma 2: wow, okay, rude

Schaeffer tells Emma 2 that she'll be escorted to Colorado by "Ben Bridges", Paul comes in, he and Emma 2 hug it out, and then...

Infected!Paul: 🎵 Emma, I'm sorry, you lost... 🎵

Emma 2: Paul?

Infected!Paul: 🎵 Emma, I'm sorry, you lost your way- 🎵

Emma 2 yeets him through the window, roll credits.

Basically, with Emma 2, TGWDLM becomes the absurdist comedy story of the android from the future who survived the musical apocalypse through sheer lack of tolerance for the Hive's bullshit. Thank you everyone, I'll be here all night.

Episode 15: Babysitters On Board!

The babysitters are on a cruise for tenuous reasons! Karen Brewer lives her best life, Claudia has another questionable romance, and Kristy is... extremely Kristy. Meanwhile we try to reminisce about the teen discos of our youth, but it turns out only Karen was actually cool enough to go to discos, and she says they were terrible anyway.

Today’s agenda includes: what a chasuble is; we finally settle the question of whether Thomas Hardy is good or not; asserting dominance through nudity; the limits of parental love; unfounded bladder-related accusations; the legend of the mysterious masked dancer; which babysitters we’d want to spend the apocalypse with; weird gender-based seashell policing; a shocking acknowledgment that R-rated movies exist; crimes of tidiness; a very brief cameo from Esther’s kid; we are baffled by American dating etiquette.

Our theme song is "The Incredible Shrinking Larry" by Matt Oakley on the Free Music Archive.
