"Crossroads"
Kaedehara Kazuha x (GN) Reader [platonic]
Tumblr media
-------- ••• ------- ✧ °✧° ✧ -------- ••• -------
Pairing: Kaedehara Kazuha x (GN) Reader
Warnings: Mentions of alcohol, platonic friendship, implied depressive episode, mentions of feeling directionless, hurt/comfort, aka angst with a semi happy ending
Word count: 916
Authors note: Hi I'm writing this as another ✨ self-indulgent fic ✨ however I hope this can also provide solace for anyone else who is at a weird crossroads in their life. This is all over the place, I just needed to put this out. If not for me then for someone else. I see you and I feel you. You aren't alone ❤️ I choose Kazuha specifically bc of that fucking line he has when it rains. It always strikes a chord in me. Anyway, I hope you enjoy or find some peace here.
-------- ••• ------- ✧ °✧° ✧ -------- ••• -------
Kaedehara Kazuha has always been someone you turned to in times of crisis. When the Vision Hunt Degree was issued and he went with Captain Beidou to Liuye to collect the travelers help, you felt at odds with yourself. He has a knack for knowing just what to say when you need it most.
After the Traveler helped abolish the Vision Hunt Degree. You stood at a crossroads in your life. You had returned from Mondstat after having the opportunity to study under The acting Grand Master Jean. As a budding tactician, she was an excellent mentor. Kazuha was the one who encouraged you to go, stating 'you'd be foolish not to', so you did. You learned so much there, made so many new friends, and got to experience many different things.
After a few months you came back to Inazuma. You felt like a new person! You even secured a position under one of the best tacticians in Inazuma, Sangonomiya Kokomi. Things were great... At least for a few months. Until you fell back into a routine, where day in and day out felt the same. Again you were at that crossroad.
You felt almost depressed, as if all the struggle and growth you made abroad meant nothing now. You felt the same as you did before you left. You find your days filled with work and sleep, repeat. The few enjoyments you got were getting letters from friends in Mondstat, and seeing your friends back home.
After a particularly long day you found yourself at Ritou Harbor, a bottle in your hand as you stared out at the endless ocean on the horizon. "You seem to be troubled about something." Kazuha's gentle voice observes behind you. You crane your neck to look at him. As he walks over and seats himself next to you at the edge of the harbor.
"Hey Kazuha... When did you get back?" You ask not wanting to discuss the issue at hand. "Only a few hours ago. Captain Beidou is docking here for a few days." You hum in acknowledgement. "I thought I'd find you elsewhere, but Lady Ayaka informed me who was told by Miss Kokomi you'd be in the area for a couple days on personal business." You nod again." This doesn't seem like business." He gestures to the bottle in your hand. "It's personal though." You laugh bitterly, placing the bottle down.
You place your head in your hands. "Kazuha, I don't know what to do." He smiles almost knowingly. "What seems to be the issue my friend?" You sigh. "I'm unhappy. All the stars that once aligned for me seem out of place now. I know I set this plath for myself and even though I've made progress I feel like I'm still stuck at the starting line..." You heave back a sob you can feel coming on. "I wish I was back in Mondstat. I wish I was anywhere but here you know?" He chuckles. " All too well, it's suffocating isn't it? Being in one place for too long." He muses. "However, as you said so yourself you made a path for yourself. Miss Kokomi seems to be very pleased with the work you're doing as well." You shrug. "I know but... I don't know Kazuha... I'm still unhappy. Sometimes I wonder if I should just become a wanderer like you. It's not like I don't have friends I can stay with or meet elsewhere..."
You gaze back out at the ocean and Kazuha joins you." Is that truly what you want? " You snap your head to look at him in confusion. " As simple as it sounds, being a wanderer means you have nothing. You travel from place to place, sometimes in the worst condition. Unsure if you'll even have a place to sleep safely or have food to eat. I'm at the will of Captain Beidou's schedule because I myself cannot operate a boat or run a crew myself." Kazuha smiles out at the ocean sadly. "Sure the traveling is nice but even I sometimes find myself stuck in a loop."
You're quiet for a long time before finally asking Kazuha the question you find yourself always asking him. " What should I do? '' Tears spilled from the corners of your eyes. " Continue on your path. Though the road ahead is unclear, and may be tumultuous and foggy at times, eventually you'll find yourself exactly where you're supposed to be. " "And if I don't?" "You find a new path." You laugh through the tears. " You're a strong person. Stronger than you give yourself credit for. The people around you see it but you don't, at least not yet. " He closes his eyes peacefully. " I have a hunch eventually you will. "
A few more tears spill from your eyes as you gaze back at the ocean. The sun was setting and the view was gorgeous, the ocean looked as if it was a sparkling gemstone surrounded by the vast orange sky. "I don't know how you do that." You finally say. Kazuha cocks his head to the side." Do what? " He inquired. " Know how to fix me. " You sigh before tossing him a grin. "What are friends for if not to lift each other up!" He grins back. "I promise Kazuha, one day I'll pay you back for all the wisdom and advice you give me." He simply smiles and stands offering you a hand. "No need. Just keep being you, that's all I ask."

Fallen
WARNING: there are some pretty graphic scenes of a character getting injured. Reader discretion IS ADVISED!!!!
*********************
Her breaths were raspy and shallow as she laid on the cold floor. She had given up moving at all... anytime she did, it lead to pain from all the strings embedded into her neck, wrists and arms... and then HE would show up to play...
So she just laid there, motionless, starting off into the darkness. It had been days since the glitch took her... and it had been so easy for him. She had stayed in the kitchen when Marvin had rushed to help Kenna... she had no idea where Ocea was... she had started to panic. Her family... he was taking her family from her AGAIN! BOTH of them!
Then he was behind her, hand squeezing her throat. She had started to call out when Chase’s voice came out, begging her to let him help her... she couldn’t say no... not to him...
The door opened with a huge bang but her body couldn’t move. There were so many cuts... so many knicks and bruises... so many healed stab wounds.
“Today’s the day, my pet,” his voice thundered over her, followed by a swift kick in her ribs. Her body forced to move from the force of the blow, she yelped out as the old pain mixed with the new raced over her body. He laugher was psychotic as he pulled all her strings, lifting her to her feet. Agonizing screams echoed across the room as the stings pulled, making her bleed all down her arms and neck.
“I have the most wonderful news, pet!” The glitch leaned in and caressed her cheek. Though she flinched, she found herself melting into the hand that was all too familiar to her...
“What is the news, master,” she whispered, looking right into his chaotic black eyes. They use to be so blue... so full of life...
“Pathetic little Brody tried rally the family together to save you... too bad that none of them listened...”
Her lip quivered as fresh, hot tears fell down her face.
“No... no... they’ll find me... master, tell me you’re wrong!”
“So sorry, pet,” he gave her a dramatic pout. “They’re still off worrying about their own lives... helping each other out never you...”
“But... Master... I’m... their mother...”
“Yes, you are. This does seem rather rude of them to do to you... after all... didn’t YOU save them?”
She but her lower lip as she nodded against his hand, sobs choking out of her throat. His hand moves to her throat and squeezes, causing her to cry out gravelly.
“They NEVER cared about you...”
As her eyes rolled back, she found herself gasping out and repeating.
“.... never.... cared....”
“You, Miss Ash, are ALL ALONE!”
“.... alone.... all... alone...”
“Kenna AND Ocea NEVER LOVED YOU!”
“.................... n...... ne.... never....... l.... lll.... loved....”
“You are my PET! YOU BELONG TO ME!”
“I....... belong........ to......... you.......”
Squeezing tighter, he brings her in and roughing kisses her, teeth clanking together as he drew blood from her lip. He was squeezing her neck harder and also cutting off her oxygen. She couldn’t breath.... her world was fading... but as she was fading, she found herself kissing the glitch back.
His... his lips, her mind stutters as she fades away. Their... their his lips...
I’ve missed this... missed him... so much...
She falls.

Yesterday was the birthday of one of the best people I know: he's a splendid young man, with a brilliant and incredibly sensitive mind. Perhaps the only person I know who sincerely laughs and appreciates my bad puns, and and is on my own kind of comedy! 🤣 During this year he helped me so much to grow (that not even he really has any idea about 🤣) and I wanted therefore to pay homage to him here too, because his friendship is really, REALLY precious for me, so many more best wishes to my favorite Ocea- Master, King of the North and blondness @zappala_mattia ❤️ Thanks for everything!❤️ __________________________ Ieri è stato il compleanno di una delle persone migliori che io conosca: è un ragazzo splendido, dalla mente brillante e incredibilmente sensibile. ❤️ . . #oceanmaster #art #fanart #digitalart #gift #shark #charizard #pokemon #seal #seals #man #sea #funny #water #drawing #illustration #instaart #instagood https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz3TqwXhLCD/?igshid=1i5qu74wpzl5e

Skylanders Academy Season 3 Trailer Breakdown
Okay, so earlier the season 3 trailer dropped, and I am going to go through the entire thing, pointing out little things I noticed throughout it. (This will be an extremely long)
Tumblr media
Establishing shot of the academy. So far, so good
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eon explaining that the need Spyro in order to fight Strykore, but...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spyro’s fire power has been stolen by Strykore...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and has been replace with dark magic, making him evil.
Tumblr media
Strykore is planning on destroying the Core of Light.
Tumblr media
I don’t think we have gotten a solid view of the Core until now.  HD design is good. Missing the Crucible of Ages, the Twin Spouts of Ocea Major Minor, and the Crystal Eye (I haven’t played Spyro’s Adventure in forever, but I still somehow remember those off the top of my head, wow), but otherwise very good. 7.8/10
Tumblr media
Dark Spyro “sneaking” into the Academy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone is happy to see Spyro, despite his significantly evil change in color scheme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Stealth Elf kicking Fisticuff’s butt.  Nice to see some non-Doom Raider villains.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dark Spyro training with King Pen.  King Pen has also been wearing a blindfold this entire time, so I would like to know what is happening there
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pop Fizz, Jet Vac, and Stealth Elf fighting Malefor.  Great to see him again, too.
Tumblr media
Dark Spyro doesn’t really care about what Eon is talking about until...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eon announces that a mole was discovered in the Academy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dark Spyro is concerned about getting caught, but Strykore wants him to complete his mission.
Also
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eon also has this floating-head ability, although Eon uses it for more fun activities.
Tumblr media
Kaos has become a pirate.  He has Dreamcatcher, Pepper Jack, Wolfgang, and Chompy Mage (behind Wolfgang) as his crew.  There is a significant lack of Golden Queen and Broccoli Guy, but I think I heard that there will be a new Doom Raider this season, so maybe they are all hanging out, away from Kaos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaos’s power is growing.  Also, if there is not an airship battle this season, I will be very disappointed.
Tumblr media
Speaking of airships, we see Flynn’s ship from Giants, and ...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The great Captain Flynn makes his Premiere.  (I still don’t like his model here)
Tumblr media
Random troll battle arena that the Skylanders will most likely be forced to battle in.
Tumblr media
Nice! More returning villains!  Here we have the Fire Viper from Swap Force
Tumblr media
WTF?!? Glumshanks can use magic now?  It’s green magic, unlike Strykore’s purple magic, so I don’t know what is happening here.
Tumblr media
Glumshanks is using his new magic on Crash, Dark Spyro, and Eruptor, so he seems to be against both Strykore and the Skylanders.  It also looks like he redecorated Kaossandra’s castle with plenty of statues of himself.  Also, Glumshanks either has a random lifelike statue of Eon, or he has somehow captured Eon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kaossandra randomly fighting Stealth Elf with a stick.  Either, she is really desperate to defeat the Skylanders, or she is not used to fighting without her magic. Also, there is a random red spaceship in the background.  Don’t really know what that’s for
Tumblr media
Flynn almost crashes his ship (as usual).
Tumblr media
but he pulls up at the last moment.
Tumblr media
Spyro turns back to normal at some point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another new returning villain! Here we have an Arkeyan Conquer-tron.  I really love the lighting in this scene.
Tumblr media
It look a lot skinnier than they normally look in the games.  Still pretty bad-ass.
Also, Strykore is just standing there.  Why aren’t any of you Skylanders doing anything?!?
Tumblr media
“Well, it could be worse... Nope, never mind, probably not.” XD
Tumblr media
Reintroducing Crash Bandicoot (with a new voice actor this season) (even though we have already seen him in this trailer)
Tumblr media
and introducing Coco (I literally know nothing about the Crash Bandicoot series, so I don’t know anything about her)
Tumblr media
Eruptor is leading a prison riot.  There is also a Goliath Drow amongst the group.  Maybe this is Brock from Giants?
Tumblr media
Eruptor fighting the Conquer-tron. Amazing
Tumblr media
Glumshanks and Kaos battling it out with their powerful magics.
Tumblr media
Spyro and Eruptor seem to be flying through a wormhole.  Maybe we will get to see the inside of the Portal Network?
Tumblr media
Bad Breath, Eruptor, Pop Fizz, Wind Up, Jet Vac, Stealth Elf and some Mabu are being exploded somewhere in the Academy.
Tumblr media
Dark Spyro is apparently attacking something
Tumblr media
Wait...
Tumblr media
TWO SPYROS?!? WHAT?!?!!
Tumblr media
Soooo many Glumshankses
Tumblr media
“I hope you all enjoy group text chats!”
“DO WE EVER!” XD
Also, maybe this duplication/cloning machine is how we get the multiple Spyros.
CONCLUSION
There is so much that is happening in this trailer.  So many new characters.  So many action sequences/boss battles.  Didn’t look like there are going to be any new Skylanders though.  My personal hope/theory that the Earth Portal Master would be appearing does not look very likely, but anything can happen.
Overall, I have some pretty high hopes for this season. Can’t wait for it to come out later this month.

Ocea Unveils 50m Nemo Ice
Ocea Unveils 50m Nemo Ice
France-based Ocea has revealed a new 50m motoryacht concept called Nemo Ice, developed together with Aldo Manna and designed by Milan-based Fulvio de Simoni.
The project was conceived with explorers in mind and incorporates the shipyard’s military DNA.
“The concept, design and construction criteria of this vessel exquisitely mirror the spirit of the Ocea Shipyard, whose core business is the design and construction of military ships,” says press officer for Ocea, Andrea Sculati. “…from the dream of sailing around Antarctica – a lifelong dream for many owners – that is when the idea of Nemo Ice, a 50m megayacht with a gross tonnage of 499 GT, really started.”
Global exploration was one of the key requirements for this concept, which plays to Ocea’s strengths as a builder of robust vessels. The Ice Class motoryacht incorporates a number of features seen on Ocea’s military platforms. For instance, Nemo Ice’s davits are the same as those found on its military vessels, which can manoeuvre landing craft. While a technical area has been created forward of the raised aft deck that provides direct access to the main saloon and is under a metre from the waterline for quick and safe access to the tenders.
The practical approach continues into the engine room where easy access to mechanical equipment has been provided along with a six-square-metre workshop, which is paramount when voyaging in areas where there is little to no civilisation. These areas are directly connected to the crew accommodation via a central passageway that extends the length of the lower deck. This layout ensures crew can carry out their duties without disturbing guests while improving their efficiency and convenience.
“The shafts are integrated into dedicated structural skegs, which will protect them, along with the propellers and the two rudders, should the hull hit an iceberg or partially submerged objects — this type of construction being a typical feature of all the yachts Ocea has built so far,” says Sculati.
Two double and two twin en-suites are located amidships on the lower deck with the owner’s full beam master suite and private lounge situated forward on the main deck. While the crew galley and accommodation are located forward on the lower deck along with the main galley.
While Ocea pushes new yachting projects, work continues on several military vessels including an 85m all aluminium build, which the shipyard claims will be the largest aluminium vessel intended for military purposes.

#30 - Interview with Ocean Lover/Educator
Thursday, October 31st, 2019 at 4:00 pm.
Duration: 23:16 min
Interviewer:Alright. Hello, OK, um, yeah can you just start talking about you, um—
Interviewee:(laughs)
Interviewer:I know we just talked about it—
Interviewee:--Yeah—
Interviewer:About you working at the dive center for a little bit?
Interviewee:Yeah so I've been doing an internship program for the past, um, kind of four and a half months at the Dive Center. Um, so essentially an exchange for our dive master qualifications, we work for the dive center so things like working as a deckhand on the whale watch boats, um, and then guiding snorkel and dive tours, um and then just general tasks at the Dive Center, so like filling cylinders and all that kind of stuff.
Interviewer:Cool.
Interviewee:Yeah
Interviewer:Yeah, that sounds like a fun experience—
Interviewee:--Yeah it's pretty, it's pretty magical. It’s one of those things you don't really—you know you have to take a step back every now and again you're sitting out watching the whales or whatever and you’re like, wow, this is my job, you know? This is like a once in a lifetime experience for most people and we get to do it every day.
Interviewer:Mhm.
Interviewee:It’s pretty humbling.
Interviewer:Yeah, um, what does the ocean mean to you?
Interviewee:Man, the ocean, it's like my home, you know? I've worked in and around the oceans for years so before I was at the dive center, um, back home in New Zealand I work as a sea kayak guide so again on the water every day. Um, before that I was working kayak and snorkel guide in Hawaii which was pretty magical and yeah I don’t know it’s just home to me. It's one of those places you just feel really like connected and yeah pretty special we're pretty lucky.
Interviewer:Yeah.
Interviewee:And I never really realize until traveling… like in New Zealand where I grew up you're never more than an hour and a half from the ocean. It doesn't and where you are on the country and then to go to places like the United States and meet people who have never seen the ocean, it was pretty mind blowing—
Interviewer:--Yeah—
Interviewee:--You got to realize how lucky you are, so, yeah.
Interviewer:Yeah, how does the ocean play a part into your life?
Interviewee:Man, the ocean, it's… like I said, it's my home you know? I live and work in the ocean and then in my spare time I go in and get back into the ocean whether it’s surfing or diving on my own time or um, so I would say it's a pretty.. I don’t even want to like, a big part of my life doesn't even, you know fully explain it. It is my life. Um, I can't imagine life without the ocean.
Interviewer:Did you grow up um living, like how close did you grow up living—
Interviewee:--So, my family home is probably about a 20 minute drive to the ocean. Um, my parents are farmers so I kind of where I grew up is kind of weird place like I live on the side of a mountain but it’s also only 20 minutes to the ocean. But, I never really, my family didn't do the whole holidays to the beach every summer but a lot of my friends did so I would tag along with my friends, family, or a sister to get to the ocean and stuff, so, not necessarily grew up there with my family but I always loved it and every chance I got I’ve been in the water.
Interviewer:Yeah. Um, why did you want to become a kayak, snorkel, and dive guide? You can break it up however you want but I know that you’ve done all that stuff so why did you want to?
Interviewee:Um, it was kind of a backwards introduction with me so I-- this is kind of a long story-- but after I finished high school I didn't really know what I wanted to do. Um,  and I kind of accidentally got a job as an outdoor instructor in Scotland, um, that’s another long story. But, so I was working at this outside outdoor center and I decided that I couldn't imagine sitting in an office all day I wanted to work and outdoors so after doing that for year I came back to New Zealand and went to university and got really into white water kayaking. So I did a lot of kind of down rapids off waterfalls kind of thing and then there's not too many jobs in white water rafting so um, pretty dangerous sport so not really jobs in it but I need the University summer job and ended up the next best thing from white water kayaking for me at that point was sea kayaking so that's kind of how I got into that. Um, and then, yeah, just love it. Just being in and around the ocean and I think for me it's like showing other people the ocean, you know? Seeing the way people’s face light up and you know it's one of those things again that you said every day and you can become a little bit you know immune to it or you don't realize how magical it is until you see someone else see things like when people see an orca and a humpback whale for the first time and are like mind-blowing. I think sharing that joy with other people, really, it's pretty magical.
Interviewer:Yeah, definitely. Um, when you are kayaking, snorkeling, and diving, how often do you see plastic or garbage in the ocean?
Interviewee:Way too often—
Interviewer:--Really—
Interviewee:--Like it’s, I think they—I mean there’s places that are more, um I guess affected, um I'm mean I'm not an environmental scientist but from observations and stuff that I've seen, um, I hadn’t really noticed it until I worked in Hawaii and the East Coast of Oahu where I was living just get slammed by those Pacific ocean currents and you know. And you hear everyone talk about like micro plastics and stuff like that and I never really seen it until I was in Hawaii and you just remember walking down the beach and it was like someone had like tipped a jar of sprinkles on the beach, you know? There’s all of these bright colors in the sand and you’re kind of like woah, what is this and just tiny little plastic. I’ve never seen anything like it before. Um… I guess maybe being in New Zealand and Australia we’re a little further away, you know? We’re out in a little corner of the world but I feel like it's only a matter of time before we start seeing more and more of that here. But even here like this morning we're walking along the beach and you know you see so much plastic, we had an arm full of plastic. By the time I’d walked in our 50 m to where we were gonna lie down, so—
Interviewer:--Yeah--
Interviewee:--So, you do. You see it everywhere on the beach and out on the ocean as well. The other day, you know we saw some plastic in the ocean, when I drive out to Julian rocks and our skipper turned the boat around so we can go and get it which is pretty cool to see, like you know it's so easy to be like oh, it’s someone else's problem or just you know what can I do? But it's cool to see people that genuinely care and are trying to do better.
Interviewer:Mhm. I was actually just gonna ask you, based on like, as a segway of that, like the skippers, um, coming back and try to clean up the ocean but um, with like Oahu or like any small communities that you’ve seen plastic or garbage like is there a sense of knowledge in those communities and are they trying to help clean up?
Interviewee:Yeah so there’s definitely pockets like here in Byron Bay is one of those places that gives you hope, you know? There’s, I find a lot in the big cities people are so in their own little world and I don't think it's a purposeful that they don't care I think it's a lack of education and a lack of connection to things like you know people think of ‘I'll just throw it away’ but like there's no such thing as a ‘way’, it's going somewhere, you know what I mean?
Interviewer:Yeah.
Interviewee:I think people, especially here in Byron, are more connected to the way that things end up in the oceans and yeah I think a lot of it comes down to education and um raising awareness and I think, you know, this day and age is so much more visibility things like social media I think help a lot and sometimes it can be overwhelming and you think you know so much, it's so many issues in the world and what little things like what can and does it make a difference and can be a little bit disheartening and then you see things like the climate protest and you're like, ‘wow I'm not the only one’ and there's definitely pockets of it, um, yeah like definitely on Oahu there were pockets and Byron’s one of those magical little places but you still see things like it still drives me insane that you see, you know, you go to the supermarket and you see people paying for plastic bags and you’re like man, how long have we been going on about this and people are still doing it? And it can be a little frustrating.
Interviewer:Mhm.
Interviewee:Um, but I think it's important to educate people without shaming them. There’s definitely this kind of like idea that environmentalists or environmentally aware people can be a little bit pushy or, um, yeah judgmental and I think it's about educating in a sensitive way, if that makes sense.
Interviewer:Yeah, definitely. Yeah. Is there a difference with the amount of plastic you see onshore versus offshore?
Interviewee:Yeah so for me personally I haven't seen a huge amount of it offshore… I don't know if that's, yeah things like currents and stuff but I will definitely notice if you walk on the beach the high tide line is-- you know you see where the high tide line is-- and it's kind of this little trail of bits of seaweed and then bits of plastic, you know? It’s almost like a path and you can definitely… it's very visible and I think it's visible to everyone that uses the beach but I think a lot of people choose to ignore it or, you know it’s one of those things you're so used to seeing it that doesn't shock you anymore, which is kind of sad, but in terms of being out when I'm diving and kayaking like you might see that odd bit of plastic but in my experience I don't see a lot of it.
Interviewer:Okay, yeah, definitely. How have you educated yourself on plastic pollution in oceans?
Interviewee:Yeah so I mean I did five years at university so that was really eye-opening and I didn't major in environmental science or anything like that. I studied outdoor education and I also did a business degree with a tourism major and there were parts of that degree, um, where things like sustainability environmentalism would come up, um, with plastic being a big part of that but it wasn't necessarily focused on that but I just remember like sitting in lectures and things would come up and you’d be like, man that's crazy and I don't know, I really like would dig deeper than probably necessary for the papers or whatever but I was like, I want to learn more and yeah help the issues, you know?
Interviewer:Was there an initial spark of like trying to self-educate yourself on it though? 10:54
Interviewee:I don’t… there's nothing really that springs to mind I’ve just always wanted to help and just as who I am as a person like make things better and be that change but I can't think of a moment where I was like, man that's crazy. Like I mean a lot of people would talk about, you know, they saw that video of the turtle with the straw up its nose I think for a lot of people that was the moment where it’s like, man how are we doing this? Yeah, I think it's kind of an accumulation of a lot of things um, that really get me really passionate and inspired about trying to do better.
Interviewer:And how do you um, try to do better or how do you contribute to making that change?
Interviewee: So, yeah like I mentioned I think, education is really key and I think the best way to educate people without that, you know, shoving your opinions and ideology down other people’s throats is to be an example, you know? Like for me, the most effective things that I've noticed like having an effect on other people will be like people would see you doing something… like something as simple as having a cute little reusable coffee cup. People would be like, ‘oh I like your cup’ and I’d be like ‘yeah, man, it's really cool because it means I don't have to use single use’ and like things I can that way like setting the example. People notice, you know, you don't have to be like ‘everyone should get a reusable coffee cup’ that's like… people notice and or even I've been walking down the street with friends and I have this thing against cigarette butts, they drive me insane so, if I try to pick up every single piece of garbage that I walk down the street I’d never get anywhere but for me, cigarette butts drive me insane so I will pick up like cigarette butts and I'll come back from a surf with a handful of ciggy butts and everyone will be like, like they’ve noticed it and like ‘what are you doing?’. I’m like, ‘oh, like, I pick these up just from on the way home from surfing’ and people are like ‘wow’. And, you know, then I'll just drop a little fact, like one of these is enough to pollute 1000 L of ocean water. And they’ll be like, ‘wow, really?’ and I think little things like that really sticks with people.
Interviewer:You can also say just to add that cigarette butts is the most common plastic in the ocean because of the microfibers. Yeah that's, yeah that's a really nice kind of community-based approach to try and educate people on the small things because yeah, I think that's so important because, you know, we have those big organizations who try and do the part on like maybe national, or like regional-wise. But, people who are still passionate about the environment and protecting our oceans still can have those little small conversations every day--
Interviewee:--For sure—
Interviewer:--To make an impact.
Interviewee:And yeah, for me I think that it's so easy to feel disconnected from those big organizations and there's all the counter stuff from you know like a big company like Coca Cola or whatever and a big company keeps going you know all these plastic bottles and they’re encountering and stuff and it’s… it, sometimes those issues seem too big to tackle where is like, if you start at the grassroots you know it's like that saying like ‘oh it's only one straw it’s 6 billion people’ you know everyone just made that little bit of different… it's not about one person doing everything perfectly. It’s about everyone making the change and I think yeah, forming the little people is a good place to start and I mean I definitely think there's places for big organizations to tackle the big issues but I think it's people power at the end of the day that's going to make the biggest difference.
Interviewer:Yeah, so I'm looking at how local campaigns and educational programs help lesson ocean plastic in the ocean, well, obviously plastic in the ocean. So I know we were talking about the big organizations and how we have a lack of trust and we disconnect from them… how do you view in terms of like local campaigns and local organizations trying to do their job?
Interviewee:Yeah, so people man, as people are so passionate and it's incredible to see because these people that are doing the local organizations you know they're not making the money like maybe some of big environmental campaigns are. There are people on the ground are literally doing it out of the goodness of their heart because they believe in what they're doing um, and again I think that’s so important, like if we didn't have those there’s no kind of like structure for people to see, um, I mean yeah I've only been in Byron for 4 1/2 months and I think it has a bit to do with the circles that I run in but like we see a lot from Positive Change for Marine Life, um, and ways of getting peoples attention's, like we went to the Festival For The Seas and a lot of my friends that aren’t necessarily environmentally inclined, um, that are like, ‘oh, but I like the music’ so they’re gonna go along and then they’re gonna take in little bits and pieces so I think getting the message out there through maybe less direct channels gets more people involved in that whole people power is a snowball effect.
Interviewer:So kind of like going back to the Festival of the Seas kind of representing like a little booth or something and try to look at a small little impact.
Interviewee:Yeah, yeah definitely. Yeah, getting people… like obviously if you're environmentally aware, you kind of, you do educate yourself and like, ‘alright what, what more can I do? What else can I do?’ to you know, help on these issues. Where as, so you’re kind of already on the team and it's kind of like recruiting other people as where I think a lot… If it is going and I think it's really important because, yeah like I said everyone that's kind of already on the team, they’re already doing things so we need the people that maybe aren’t aware of these issues to—we need them on our team as well.
Interviewer:Definitely… Alright, that was amazing! Thank you so much.
Interviewee:I’m sorry, I feel like I'm like, yeah I don’t really know, like I said I am not an environmental scientist and I haven't been in Byron very long so I’m not super aware of what’s necessarily going on here in Byron but—
Interviewer:--No I think it's important to understand like someone who is passionate about the ocean and goes in there even more than like what these organizations are trying to do for the ocean, I think it's really important to see your viewpoint and others who like, are very like-minded and kind of see their views on, um, trying to take the change in how to promote education in their daily lives because I think that that’s kind of what sparks, um, the start of a small grassroots organization to try and get this movement going, you know?
Interviewee:Yeah, and I think that's one thing I love about guiding as well as like people, you know, people can't protect what they don't know, and like if you take someone out whale watching… and there’s one thing we’ve seen a lot this season is, um, like buoys attached to whales… we’ve had about six whales come through this season with buoys attached—
Interviewer:--Woah!—
Interviewee:--And there’s a 300 m exclusion zone around any entangled whale, um, so we can do is like take photos of it and then call the appropriate authorities and people in the boats like they see that like man, that's really heavy and it’s really like an a motive thing for people and I think, you know you don't forget about that kind of thing really quickly. Like when you’re walking down the street, you see plastic, and you’re like, oh, that’s easy to ignore. But, something like a humpback whale or a calf tangled in a buoy… that sticks with you, you know?
Interviewer:Something like actually being effective.
Interviewee:Yeah, so it's really cool to have people, you know develop that awareness of issues and I really like… I don’t know in a way that's really a motive and they’re really like, ‘wow, we need to do something about this’, you know? Um, and it’s the same like the turtle with the straw… like, everyone’s seen it. Everyone’s like, wow, like, obviously like using straws like a lot of people are so aware of that now. Whereas like, like things like cigarette butts is still a massive issue and people don't tend to… I mean people are always going to pick and choose what environmentally sensitive things they’re gonna do, but—
Interviewer:I think it’s because like… it's tailored to them, it’s like whatever they think is achievable to them, then they'll pick and choose that. When in reality, a lot stuff of is still damaging—
Interviewee:--Yeah—
Interviewer:And like, it's, it's OK… We're not going to frown upon you. Just like, this is what's damaging the planet and the ocean and stuff like that, I totally agree. I was wondering… you brought up the whale tagging thing? Um, how did you find out about that?
Interviewee:Um.. yes, so like being out in the boat… so our skippers are super knowledgeable, um… they’ve been doing it for a long time and you know they say to people on our tours, like I've been on a boat and we've come across entangle whale and the skipper are saying to the people that you know, these are the laws, this is what we can do. Like, we’ll take photos and we’ll send them to Marine Parks and then marine parks will go out.
Interviewer:Oh so they won’t intervene?
Interviewee:So, we don't have the permits to try and help an entangled whale, so there is a squad, as far as I'm aware, from what the skippers have told me, there is a squad in Byron but there's been days like there’s not um no one can watch the boat on the weekends or whatever. So I remember one day we were out on a Sunday and there’s an entangled whale and we’re like well, we don't have anyone in the office today so we’ll get in touch with the Gold Coast Marine Parks and see, but, you know by then it's 5, 6 o'clock at night, so.
Interviewer:Oh my god!
Interviewee:Yeah, so I mean we take photos and we tell them you know the whale looks to be heading north at about four kilometers an hour or whatever so that they can try and guess where that whale is gonna be. And to be fair like an entangled whale with a buoy around it it's it's reasonably noticeable from a certain distance but obviously it’s going to get tired really quickly and… yeah, it's pretty heartbreaking to see.
Interviewer:Yeah, that's so interesting about the legislation thing because, I've been doing field notes around Byron so just taking notes of what I see and a lot of the times when I'm near the beach they obviously have signs that say no littering, no cigarette butts, um, like the recycling bins and the rubbish bins and whatever and it's all provided by the New South Wales government and like, it's legislation so I was like… oh, policy, that's so cool but also like, then you have some restraints on trying to take action when you’re actually in the ocean.
Interviewee:Yeah, I mean like it's kind of, it is understandable and I think it's this it's also a safety thing, like you know if we're on a whale watching tour boar and obviously we want to help but it puts other people in danger and then maybe even the whale in danger, you know, like I understand. It would be like if like a civilian trying to arrest a serial killer, like you know, it's dangerous so I understand why, but it's incredibly frustrating when you called and they’re like, ‘yeah, sorry we don’t have anyone in today’ and like, man, but this whale, you know? Like it's a protected species and it's just entangled and you know, you don't know if I'll make it to the morning when they can get a boat out to it so, it's frustrating—
Interviewer:Yeah.
Interviewee:But…
Interviewer: Like you're so close yet so far away. So it’s not a 24 hour thing? Like, an emergency thing?
Interviewee:No, yeah, um, yeah I’m not 100% sure from what our skippers have told me though, yeah there's been a few times where they don't have people that can launch the boat, yeah, I mean I don't know if it's a staffing thing or how it works, but, yeah.
Interviewer:Yeah, wow.
Interviewee: Yeah.
Interviewer:I had no idea. Thank you.
Interviewee:No, no worries!
Interviewer: That was really good insight, awesome, alrighty.

Bittersweet
The air was damp as Jack and Marvin ran down the hallway, their steps echoing against the walls. Though cold, the YouTuber had never felt so much fire within him. That mother fucking glitch! What he had just done... making Ocea slide that knife into her own mother’s throat... MOTHER FUCKER!
Marvin’s eye had changed as soon as they left the others. Once soft while talking to the girls, it harderned to murderous intent once he turned around. Not even his mask hide the darkening rage that clouded the magician’s eye. His glass eye made it all the more frightening.
Jack still had Marvin’s cries stuck in his head on repeat, his heartbroken face tattooed in his minds eye. He had seen JJ holding Kenna, a look of utter defeat on the dapper man’s face as tears fell...
And apparently, Anti still had Chase, Schneep and Jackie....
Oh yeah.... Jack was going to KILL this virus!
They rounded the corner and stopped. Jack swore as Marvin growled beside him, green flames bursting through the slits in his mask. There, in front of them, was Schneeplestein; dressed in tattered scrubs and the white doctor’s coat all dirty. His glasses were busted on one side while the frames sat askewed on his face. His head tilted unnaturally, his red strings vibrate all around him. Someone walked out from behind him, chewing on a toothpick. Now it was Marvin’s turn to curse, Jack’s eyes widening as he recognized the fallen hero.
“Well well well,” Jackie sneered, taking the toothpick out of his mouth and flicking it away. “So it IS true... you’re ACTUALLY awake...”
Schneep scoffed beside him, snarling at Jack. The YouTuber kept looking from Jackie to Schneep, at a loss for words. Marvin was strangely quite beside him, no doubt mainly focused on the little brother he lost so long ago.
Jack took a gulp and stepped forward. “Jackie....”
It happened so fast. Jack shot his arm up and took a defensive stance as a shot of black oozing currents came his way. His green pixelated energy formed a shield that deflected the fallen hero’s attack. Jackie actually looked stunned as he curled his opened fist and lowered his arm. There was a maniacal cackle as Anti walked up from the shadows, wearing Chase’s face. The gun shot wound on his right temple oozed black ichor.
“Well hello..... Jack,” the glitch hissed out of the dad’s mouth. The YouTuber eyed all three of his ego’s, anger swelling in his chest. The doctor... the vlogger... the hero... all corrupted... all lost...
Well... maybe not lost...
“Marvin!”
On cue, he magician’s hands became engulfed in flames and he threw a blast at Anti. Jackie was over there in an instant, defensively deflecting and then shooting an attack of his own. Anti step to the side and started throwing glitched fueled blasts at Marvin. Jack felt bad leaving the magician to fight off those two alone, but he knew deep down that Marvin would win. He wasn’t called the strongest ego for nothing.
Schneep reared on Jack, catching him as he made his way to the doctor. He ran and tackled the YouTuber down, pinning him to the ground. Fuck, Jack thought. He had forgotten how the strings made the puppets stronger.
“Henrick,” he cried out, “this isn’t you! Snap out of it!”
The doctor laughed in his face. “And why should I listen to you? You, who was so weak! That’s why master abandoned you to sleep! That’s why he has saved Chase by taking him!”
“Henrick, he made you shoot him in the head!”
Green pixels started to dance on his fingertips but the doctor didn’t even notice.
“He SAVED him! And I HELPED! Master rewarded me when I finally gave myself to him! He brought Jackie to me, as well! Now I have the two brothers I care about, right next to me! Always by my side! We don’t need you, JACK!”
One of the hands that was holding the YouTuber down was instantly at his neck, squeezing tight. Jack gasped and instinctively clawed at the doctors hand.
“Go back to sleep, Jack,” Schneep hissed. “You’ve done enough... you deserve rest... go. back. to. SLEEP!”
The red strings danced above Schneeps head. The world around him becoming blurred, Jack slapped his free hand on the doctor’s head. His pixels began to dance around his hand and Schneep’s head as the doctor screamed, Jack’s pixels trailing up and serving the strings. Jack grit his teeth as the last few strings were severed, Schneep’s grip tightening on his throat due to the pain.
Finally, the doctor let go and slumped over, finally free from Anti’s control. Jack turned onto his stomach and gasped for air, tears falling as he choked on the life saving oxygen. His reprive was cut short as he was flung back to the wall, pinned against the concrete by the glitches powers. Anti sauntered up to him, arm outstretched.
“That wasn’t very nice, Jack,” he sneered, looking over at Schneep’s crumpled form. “Do you not realize how LONG it took to get him to surrender?”
“Fuck you, Anti!”
“You haven’t learned, have you?” Anti was close to his face now, snarling out his words. Jack could hear Jackie and Marvin fighting each other in the background, both yelling at each other. But at the present moment, the YouTuber’s line of vision has filled with the dad’s green tinted face, black eyes drilling into him. Fuck, Jack thought, not again... not again.
“You’re going to lose... just like you did last time... you can’t win against me, Jack! Not with the whole love of the community on my side! Not only am I getting the power from those who follow me, but know I’m also getting the power from those that love you! That’s why I could never string you OR Brody! Still can’t, I’m afraid... but....,” his hand comes up, shining a blood red, “there’s more than one way to string up a puppet... remember, Jack?”
NO! NO! NOT AGAIN!
Fear etched itself onto Anti’s face as he stepped back. Jack felt the spell keeping him pinned to the wall disintegrate, his green pixels dancing around him. He took a few steps forward and Anti took a few back, shocked and surprised.
“What the....?”
Jack’s arm shot up qucik, green pixels shooting out of his hand and hitting Chase right in the throat. The weak spot, Jack thought as he saw Antisepticeye fall out of the dad and onto the floor, holding his throat. Black ichor poured out from between his fingers as he gagged, looking at Jack with pure hatred. Chase stood there as he turned back to normal; his eyes, his skin... the gun shot wound. The dad started to fall over.
“Shit!”
Jack ran and grabbed Chase before he hit the ground, quickly checking for a pulse. There was one there... but faint.
“Brother!”
Jackie ran over to Anti and grabbed him, pulling him back from Jack. Anti was still choking on his own black blood, his eyes never leaving Jack. The YouTuber was at a loss at the site he saw. Jackie looked... hurt... really, truly hurt.
The fallen hero snarled at both Jack and Marvin.
“I’LL KILL YOU! ALL OF YOU!”
Marvin looked broken, the fire in his eyes snuffing out as Jackie teleported them out of the room. As they left, the glitch left one final message in Jack’s mind....
This is far from over, Seán William McLoughin! I WILL see you again! And next time, I WON’T PLAY AS NICELY!!!!!
There are no strings on me, Seán! THERE ARE NO STRINGS ON ME!!!!!
*************************
There! @honestlyitsjustkenna, I hope you’re happy with this! Lol! (This isn’t part of the JSE ego universe... well... kinda... it’s hard to explain... so I won’t! 😝😝)

All bedrooms contain programmable Sleep Number beds, including this master suite Flextop King, i10 Sleep Number 360 smart bed with air pressure monitoring. Customize firmness, adjust head positions and even warm your feet.
