#Officer Jenny's Patrol
Text
Hello National Icon Dex family. Officer Jenny here on the day of her retirement. I, Dee, have decided to step back a little from Tumblr. This is for my own personal health and for reasons I will not go into as they are not important to you. However, I am still feeling rather emotional. I have been here from the earliest days of NID. From post one to follower one. I am leaving Nurse Joy with a following of over 600 on both post and follower. It has been a pleasure to provide you all with icons. To be where you go to get all of your iconing needs in this fandom. I have enjoyed seeing my icons on the dash and should I return to Tumblr I will continue to do so. I have been Rotom Mod and Jenny Mod. Both have been constant parts of this blog. From the dex that holds the icons and the officer that makes sure the rules are followed. Thanks for the couple of years that this blog blossomed. Hopefully the blog will continue to flourish and you will continue to find your needs met. Dee out. x

Hey can you do one where Tim is married to reader and they plan to trick Tim’s boot (Lucy) that he’s having an affair. ( the reader is a K9 officer)
Trickedy trick trick
Tumblr media
Tim Bradford x wife!reader
Warnings/Tags: fluff, Tim and reader pranking Lucy
Word count: 587
Author note: Hello love, thanks for the request! I really had a lot of fun writing it, and I hope it fits your expectations! If not, feel free to tell me (wasn't sure if you wanted the actual prank, or them just planning it)!
Who said patrolling can't be fun?
Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Tims phone buzzed for nearly the millionth time now, causing Lucys gaze to snap to it, curiously.
Michaela was displayed on it, someone clearly trying to reach him.
Groaning, Tim pressed the decline button, rolling his eyes. Lucys brows furrowed, confusion clear on her face.
She knew he was married, his wifes name Y/N, a K9 officer, not Michaela. And it couldn't be his sister Jenny as well, so who was trying to get his attention this badly?
"What?" Tim snapped at her, trying to shield his phone from her prying eyes as it went off again. "Trouble in paradise?" Lucy tried to get him to spill something, but he only narrowed his eyes at her.
"No, everythings fine with Y/N." he assured her, looking back out at the quiet street they were patrolling at.
It wasn't hard for him to make her believe he was telling the truth, making her step into every one of his little traps.
It was april the first, alas april fools' day, but Lucy didn't seem to have noticed that, yet.
His wife, Y/N, helped him to prank her, calling and texting as Michaela.
His phone buzzed shortly, indicating that he had received a text message.
"Last night was amazing, round two tonight?" was displayed on it, paired with an eggplant emoji, long enough for Lucy to see, gasping in shock.
Did he have an affair?
Though Tim Bradford didn't seem like the type of man who'd cheat on his wife.
He was devoted to Y/N, he loved her with every fibre of his being - at least that's what Lucy was told and had witnessed - so why was he receiving a message like this?
Tims brows furrowed, as he swiped the message away. He seemed irritated, maybe he didn't even know himself why he got that message.
When his phone buzzed again, he groaned in annoyance, answering it before holding it against his ear, making sure it was loud enough for Lucy to hear, though.
"What do you want?" he asked, not sounding happy about the call. "I just wanted to make sure, that you don't forget last night." a woman's voice was heard, but it didn't sound familiar.
"And I want a round two. The sex was amazing, baby, the best I had in a long time."
Shaking his head Tim rubbed his chin. "Look, I'm on patrol and I told you not to call or text me again. Goodbye." he spoke into the phone, before he ended the call and put it back into the holder beside the radio.
Lucys brows furrowed even more - she heard every word the woman had said clearly, causing her to ask herself if he really was the ever loyal husband.
Tims gaze snapped to hers, mimicking her confused look. "Anything to say?" he wanted to know harshly and Lucy shook her head. "No, nothing at all, sir."
"But baby, I thought you loved me." somone called, coming to a halt at Tims open window. It was Y/N, Lucy realized, even more confused. "I really want that round two, darling."
Mouth opening in shock, Lucy stared between her TO and his wife, who sent her a wink, as Lucy realized. A glance on her phone confirmed her suspicions.
"Really?" she wanted to know, not amused. Tim bit is lip, trying to hold back the smile that threatened to split his lips.
"I'm at fault." Y/N admitted, smiling sheepishly. "I just couldn't resist."
Shaking her head, Lucy couldn't help but crack a smile.
"You guys are unbelievable!"

Ron Speirs x Fem reader.
Part 2 - the link for part 1 will be linked at the end :)
I’m not sure how many parts this will have, I’m just really in the mood to write about Speirs and this specific scenario! I’ve chosen to give fem reader a name of Jenny, idk why I just watched Forest Gump and it sprung to mind hahaha. but anyway, tw, mentions of sex, sexual references and tension, swearing, drinking, oral, fraternising in the army (big nono) and a little mention of reader feeling sad/ worried…
Tumblr media
May 16th 1945, Zell am See, Austria:
Austria was beautiful, it was scenic and relaxing. The harrowing trauma’s of war was now a sour, lingering memory that none of us could quite shake. Germany and here were the closest we’d been to home in a long time, so on my days off I’d tried to make the most of what relaxation was again. When my mind wasn’t so plagued with the horrors of war, and I wasn’t treating the few injuries there was out here, there was something else, much more personal, filling my mind. And that of course was Captain Ronald Speirs.
Ever since our encounter in Germany, I’d avoided him at all costs, our interactions were slim to none. Well, I say that, but the lingering eye contact and shared glimpses across the room became a lot more prominent in the week since we’d slept together. I worried that he wouldn’t want to look or speak to me, that I was just some drunken fun, which I understood, that didn’t hurt my feelings. But the thought of him not wanting to speak to me or interact with me made me overwhelmingly anxious every time I was in a room with him. “Why do we even need anymore of these patrols anyway?” Betty muttered, trailing behind me as I chewed on the inside of my cheek worriedly. “Cos we’re an occupational force now, be lucky we’re not actually the ones patrolling, they coulda’ easily put us back treatin’ all those poor souls in the camps.” I shuddered at Helen’s worlds, the thought of heading back to those camps was enough to set me into a raging fit of horror. There was six of us army nurses left, Elizabeth was taken off the line due to a bad wound to her left leg, and Alice, my closest friend, was killed back in Bastogne.
“Mmmmh, yeah, I suppose.” Betty uneasily replied, my feet kicking on the grassy floor with a firm pout spread across my face. “What’s up with you?” Mary, the chief nurse then nudged up besides me. My head snapped up, shaking out of my moody daze. “Just wonderin’ what they’re gonna tell us in here.” I chewed on my lip. It wasn’t particularly a lie, but it wasn’t the whole truth as well. “Oh, you know, the same old.” She squeezed my arm out of a small gesture of support. Oh, if only she knew the truth. She’d be slapping the back of my hands. The only person I’d 10000% trust with this news was Alice, she’d tell me exactly what to do, but she wasn’t here. “Fun.” I forced a half arsed smile, the six of us scrambling inside and joining our platoons. I was now the sole nurse for second platoon, whilst that didn’t mean much now, back after Bastogne and in Haguenau, the pressure I felt couldn’t have been any worse. What was even more fun, was when I walked in, I realised we were being briefed by Speirs, our commanding officer. Fuck, fuck, fuck. My face was as red as it could be, and every time his eyes landed on me I averted my gaze. It wasn’t feelings I harboured, or at least I didn’t think, I just felt insanely awkward and he was so insanely attractive. Flashbacks filled my mind of when we slept together, the way he was kissing me, how he was holding my face. Oh my god, my stomach would fill with butterflies each and every time. I’d then feel guilty for allowing such dirty thoughts and images to fill my mind, especially in a room of people, but I couldn’t help it. “You’re quiet.” Joe Liebgott nudged me, again, startling me out of my daydream. “Uh?” I answered a little too loud causing a few people to glimpse at me. Oops. “Oh, I’m just listening.” I whispered, hearing Joe attempt to hold back a snort of laughter at my lie. The moment of complete serious had me holding back laughter as a soft giggle escaped my lips, my hand moving up to stop me from giggling further. Worst of all, when I looked up to see if anybody had noticed, I made direct eye contact with Captain Speirs. That was the only thing that could destroy my laughter quicker than it started. His brows almost twitched at my laughter, but he was quick to divert his attention elsewhere. Great, now he probably thinks I was laughing at him. “Don’t.” I whispered, nudging Joe in a fake annoyance for setting me off.
“I didn’t even do anything!” He muttered back as I flashed him another amused smirk before turning back to the front. Eye contact with Speirs, again. Fuck. My face twitched out of awkwardness before turning back to my lap. “You’re making me laugh.” I uttered out, avoiding looking at the boy next to me who would make me cackle. “Not my problem…”
The meeting was soon dismissed a few minutes later, and I was relieved to get out of there, ready to scurry off until the request of my name almost made me jump out of my skin.
“Uh, Nurse Carmine, would you stay back for a minute, ma’m?” It was Captain Speirs. Joe nudged my arm in a way to say ‘good luck’ before he left with the rest of the men and women. “Yes, sir.” I politely responded, lingering on the edge of the table as he didn’t wait for the last people to exit the room. I don’t know what came over me, but the urge to laugh and smile was too strong. I grimaced my smile back, desperate to not burst out in nervous giggles. “Are you okay?” He asked unexpectedly, my head lifted to see him standing right there in front of me. Ugh, why did he have to be all handsome and brooding. “Yeah, I’m good, sir. Are you?” Again, I remained as polite as possible, acting oblivious to what happened between us the other week. Maybe if I act like nothing happened, then I could actually act somewhat less awkward around him. “Yeah.” He breathed out, moving a little closer which made my breath audibly hitch. He gave me a funny look before grabbing some papers and handing them directly to me. “Oh.” I awkwardly spoke, “these are yours, and I wanted to ask if you’d fill in instead of Nurse Johnson tonight? If I’m honest we need someone with a little more experience.” He looked directly into my eyes when he spoke to me, it was more than I could do, hell. “Oh, okay. Is there something bad planned tonight?” I gently asked, my hands gripping on the table besides me. Ron’s eyes slightly glanced down me, and I didn’t know if it was intentional or if I’d made it up in my head, but it still somehow turned me on stupidly fast.
“No, but it’s a Saturday night.” He inhaled. “Men are getting rowdy and there’s too much alcohol loose, I’ll give you all of next weekend off in return?” A smile once again grew on my face. “Sure- I mean, thank you sir.” I corrected as he flashed me a small smile. “I’ll see you tonight at 10, checkpoint is same as always.”
Nine hours and lots of pacing later, I was stood with the rest of the men gathered for the patrol. I didn’t really like being the only girl, I liked my girl company, but three years in the military really strips that away from you. It turns out Captain Speirs was right, as always, there was plenty of drunken men coming in with the most stupid accidents until the early hours of the morning. It was safe to say I was exhausted by the end of it, luckily none of the casualties were fatal, Spina and I had done a good job of patching the men up and I was pretty proud of the two of us.
I’d taken a shower before leaving that night, just as I’d gotten all ready for bed, I’d remembered I’d left my bag in the field hospital. God knows who could’ve snuck into the tent at anytime, so I had to rush back out in the darkness, alone to retrieve my things. I was dressed simply in my small night gown, with a large jumper hugging around me for protection against the nippy air of the cool Austrian night.
Rummaging around, I was relieved to find my bag exactly where I left it, nothing had been looted or moved but- “oh my god!” I was startled to the core when a figure snuck into the tent besides me. Spinning around defensively, I noticed it was only Captain Speirs with a stunned expression on his face. “Why are you still in here?!” Once he seemed to calm from his shock, he questioned me, walking over to where I was stood. “I left my bag, I-I had to run out to get it.” The hand on his gun fell when he realised it was only me. I was a little stunned by the fright in his voice, but I figured after being on edge for years, it was hard to rid the feeling. I knew it all too well. “I thought you were-“ he cut himself off, shaking his head. “I thought you were a Kraut.” When I least expected it, a soft laugh escaped his lips. My mouth was still hung slightly agape, a borderline forced giggle left my mouth. “Do I look like a Kraut?” I very slowly asked, a hint of playfulness covering my voice as I stepped closer towards the exit, and therefore closer to him. “In the dark, maybe.” He muttered out, clearly joking. “Well I’m offended.” I giggled, twisting my hands together as I glanced back down to them. “You shouldn’t be.” He muttered, as I felt him stepping a little closer to me. Instantly, I felt like I was on fire, I swallowed the anxious lump in my throat, nerves making me fidgety, as when I looked up he was a lot closer to me now. “I shouldn’t?” My gaze roamed over his face, tilting my chin up so I could face him better now. Ron shook his head as I held my breath, anticipating whatever the fuck was about to happen between us. “Thank you for doing this tonight.” A shy smile grew on my face as I shrugged, “it’s fine, honestly. Wasn’t that bad.” The way I was gazing up to him must’ve practically been oozing desperation, I hoped he got the hint, because I could feel myself getting more hot and bothered. There was so much tension between us, lingering around in the darkness, and whatever I was overthinking before suddenly seemed unimportant when he was stood there looking so handsome. Ron stepped closer, head dropping down to my level as he gently lifted a hand up to my hip, leaning down to kiss me slowly, yet deeply.
God, the action was so smooth, he had me melting into him within an instant. The kiss was a lot less of a mess compared to the last drunken one, I hadn’t kissed somebody sober in years, so it almost felt foreign to me.
I hope I hadn’t forgotten how to kiss, oh my god. A singular hand resting on the back of my damp hair, made me hum a little against his lips. He was such a good kisser, moving his lips against mine slowly. Only when his hands ran down the small of my back, over my hips and back up to my waist did I doubt what I was doing.
“Captain Speirs, sir, I-“ I jumped back, pulling off from the kiss as both our hands remained on one another. “Mmh?” He genuinely seemed confused, concerned, it gave an innocent kinda look to him. “What’s wrong?” He then panicked, hands sliding off me as I glanced around the empty tent, lost on what to say. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have-“ he began to step away, but I prevented him when my hand landed on his shoulder.
“Wait-“ I whispered, moving back up to kiss him once more. We shared a few small kisses, borderline pecks, until the kiss became passionate once again. “Are you okay?” He asked, once again, I found it a little funny, him striking up a conversation in the middle of this. We’d spoken more in the past 2 minutes than we ever had. “Yeah.” I muttered against his lips, nodding into the kiss as I felt myself stumbling backwards, back pressing against the edge of the table top. Pulling me upwards, and into his body, Speirs rested a hand on my lower back and I could slowly feel my inhibitions becoming none existent as I continued to make out with my commanding officer.
All worrying thoughts aside, it actually felt dirty and fun, like a little secret- our secret. And that turned me on. The way Speirs’s manhood was already hardening for me after just kissing, I questioned if he’d been feeling like this about me all day? I had flashbacks to when I last had his cock inside of me, I began needing that so desperately again. Before I could register it fully, my hand was pushed down his pants, stroking over his erection as he panted slowly against the kiss. No words were spoken as I pulled him out of the confinements of his uniform trousers, sinking down to my knees to perform oral sex on him.
I enjoyed myself, my skills from years ago came back from muscle memory, and the sight of Speirs trying to stay quiet was overwhelmingly sexy. My head was bobbing at a fast rate, Speirs was tense and held the back of my head, taking deep breaths to prevent any moans or groans escaping his mouth. With a quick tap on the hand, I pulled off and his hand wrapped over mine, over his cock as he very quickly reached his peak and came into his hand with a shudder and a slight groan.
Slightly proud, and extremely turned on, I stood up, smiling up to the breathless man. His attention quickly turned up to me as I smiled softly. “Oh, tissues.” I quickly remembered, feeling a little awkward before retrieving them so he could clean up the mess and dispose of the tissues after. Once Speirs had tucked himself back in his pants and semi tidied himself up I felt a little awkward, knowing I probably should leave to avoid being caught by any nursing staff coming in to start their early shifts. “I gotta go.” I whispered, watching him tucking his shirt back into his uniform trousers. “Leave after me, people will see.” I informed him, his hand stroking over my hand, dropping it when I’d headed off out of the tent with a slight bounce in my walk. Holy fucking shit- how and why had that just happened, if I was in a torn mindset about it before, now how was I supposed to feel?!

Was drawing up a idea for Jenny. Had a crack idea of Jenny after college (~6 ish years or so) joining Skyway Patrol after Brad becomes the mayor of Tremorton and manages to propose and pass a bill that amends a rule that allows Jenny specifically to operate as an officer of Skyway Patrol without all the “vigilantism” and have any legal and financial issues that come with her operating outside the law pardoned but the trade off is that portions of her day are essentially a 9-5 processing through a bunch of paper work.
I have other ideas for some of the other characters, especially with Sheldon and Tuck that I’ll draw up eventually

Genshin Characters and their Pokemon
So, I’m finishing that little fungi event and I was thinking, “man, what if there were actually Pokemon in Teyvat? What would each character have?”. And with that, I selected a few of those magical creatures that complement the characters in different ways:
Amber, the Outrider
Tumblr media
Scorbunny is a given for her. They have a similar fiery and friendly attitude, and also scorbunny is a cute bunny. Scorbunny would definitely have been a gift by her grandpa when she first joined the knights, as he had one accompanying him since he left Liyue.
HOWEVER, I think she would also be accompanied by none other than: Pidgeotto, a bird of prey that is always patrolling their territory. I like to think that she captured the birb with Kaeya during a quick mission on Falcon Coast.
Tumblr media
Lisa, the librarian
Tumblr media
Now, one first instinct would be to give her an electric pokemon. However, might I suggest a…
Tumblr media
Chandelure?
I mean, Lisa’s lifespan is shorter, and I’m sure that that would attract a few ghost pokemon like this little guy. Not to mention the fact that her ult involves a lamp, and they do have some similar colors schemes.
Tumblr media
Another one would be Roserade, mostly because Lisa really likes roses, she’s really good with dendro, and because I just think roserade is neat.
Jean, the dandelion acting grandmaster and Lisa’s girlfriend
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Okay, hear me out- I know that this is a cotton pokemon, not a dandelion. HOWEVER, Junpluff is also described as releasing cotton spores wherever it goes, so I think we’re good. Moreover, Eldegoss is a support in Unite, moves quite swiftly alongside the wind, and has a little cape thing around itself, which reminds me of Jean’s clothing.
An Arcanine would also be one of her main pokemon, since they always appear with Officer Jenny in the anime. And while most people remember Arcanine as a, you know, canine, it’s also worth mentioning that it’s likely a combination between a dog and a lion.
Lastly, Cobalion.
Now, I don’t think Jean would actually have a Cobalion, but I do think that the knights keep in close contact with the swords of justice. You might say, “shouldn’t they be in Fountaine?”
To that I say, “yes, they should”
However, Gamefreak also decided that they were native to the region of Unova and not Kalos, so they started it.
Kaeya, the Calvary captain (without a horse)
Tumblr media
Quaquaval. His mais Pokemon would be Quaquaval.
Tumblr media
Why? For starters, water peacock pokemon, which fits both with his constellation and synergies well with his cryo attacks. Quaquaval is also very friendly in appearance and seems to have this very overconfident and suave exterior.
And they are both fruity
However, Quaquaval is not the only ‘mon he’d have. No, when he needs to apprehend someone who isn’t easy to take down, Glalie is here to help. After all, that ice cube is not only great at building bridges (just like Kaeya), but it also is very, very into hunting and freezing it’s opponents.
Lastly, Kaeya needs a horse. And as he’s technically the heir of Khaenri’ah, well…
Glastrider, a steed that can only be tamed by its king, capable of salvation and great destruction. A gift that Kaeya has yet to claim fully.
Lol, there are a few other characters that I have pokemon in mind. Maybe I’ll bring them in the future.

Big Sky: Season 1 Thoughts
I have to be honest and say that based on watching 2x18, I wasn't expecting much. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised.
Love the format of the first season though tbf, the 2nd half of the season did start to feel as if it was dragging a bit more than the 1st half, despite having Britt, Michelle, Brian, Omar, Michael, Ted, Carlos, and Sebastian in the mix
Loved JW's character, more the idea and how the actor crushed the role than the actual character lol
There is SO MUCH chemistry between Jenny and Cassie, it's killing me - I know that's what makes them a great team but damn - how do they not expect me to at least entertain this ship?
saying that I LOVE Cassie and would kill for her and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kylie - I LOVE Katheryn as well and I do appreciate Jenny's character but if you had to make me pick which gal I'd team up with, it's Cassie every time
I now see why they're most likely going the Beau/Jenny route - not only due to the whole Cody triangle but also because Mark comes into play for Cassie in sort of a similar dynamic
I love that Tubb wants Jenny to become sheriff, I'm surprised she didn't when Tubb left instead of Beau (but then again, I"m not really complaining *wink wonk*), but I suppose I'll find out why she's only an undersheriff in season 2
I didn't know Scarlet's whole back story when I saw 2x18 (and felt bad for her seeing her having to give up her daughter) but now, after getting some context, yeah my sympathy has lessened quite a bit
I love the whole Cassie, Jenny, Denise, and Jerrie vibe going on at the office - a great team in the making
I love that Britt took the role of Cheyenne - I just love watching her, she has that something
John Carroll Lynch - this man terrifies me as a villain (every time I see him in a role, I always remember Gothika for some reason), he does it so well, every single freaking time - Brooke was fantastic as his wife Merrilee
Brian, Brian, Brian - didn't know that adorable face and soft-spoken voice could give me nightmares but it does - my hat is off to you, good sir
While I enjoyed this season, I do have some logistical questions for the writers:
1) Cassie placing a tracker on Legarsky's car was against the law buttttt he seriously used his work vehicle to go to the same spot where the girls were being held captive? Over and over again? For long periods of time? He's a state cop, they already have GPS in their units I'm pretty sure; I know, story reasons but...?
2) When Erik is taken hostage, he really doesn't tell his mom or anyone that he thinks the customer is Ronald? Even when he calls her beforehand to tell her he thinks he might have found something? And more importantly, his mom doesn't have the option to track his cell phone if it's on her account? Or if it's her phone he's using, does she not have "Find my iPhone" or whatever?
3) If an ex-cop goes missing, despite a manpower issue, you better believe the siren is sounded, especially by local law enforcement, especially if foul play or kidnapping is suspected - the fact that this was left to two local PI's and Tubb just cites a manpower issue, even after the girls have been missing for a while and kidnapping/trafficking is suspected, and the ex-cop went missing trying to locate said girls after getting a lead, whether he saw a state trooper/highway patrol or not, that's getting flagged and whatever resources available are getting loaned to the investigation
4) how on earth did Ronald get Mary's body out the front door while Mark and Cassie were at the back door very near to where he was at and not only that but had a visual? How was he able to load that body into the car, start it up, and drive away without them noticing? Especially since the house doesn't seem to be on a busy road or neighborhood, and the house is not mansion size? The sound would have traveled, even if Ronald was just leaving the driveway area
5) While I'm glad that Cassie didn't get shot, are you telling me that this group of rogue officers (I'm assuming that's what they are anyway) with the specialized training that they had and displayed getting Ronald free would have left behind two witnesses, one that is very much conscious and lucid, able to see this individual? Maybe not see who they are but why else did he approach the vehicle about to shoot Cassie? She was unarmed and no longer a threat, possibly badly hurt. But he shoots Jenny with one bullet, grabs Ronald, and then runs? What? Then why didn't he grab Ronald in the first place and run, even before Jenny showed up?
6) again, while I'm glad Cassie is okay, are you telling me that Big Rick allowed her to drive away after seeing how suspicious she was of him? Not once but twice? After he killed Cody when Cody wasn't suspicious at all of him? Really?
Maybe I've watched too many true crime and law enforcement/legal procedural shows in my time but I can't help but think about these things when watching. Yes, I know. Story. I got it. But man, I want answers lol.
But continuing my list:
The scene where Cassie tells Jenny that she won't tell her son something happened to her (outside of Ronald's house) and where Jenny tells Cassie to go get Ronald after getting shot is big, big, big WIFE energy, idc what anyone says; I especially LOVED that scene where Cassie goes, grabbing the assault rifle, and steals a cop car, gunning it to get Ronald, perfect song choice btw Big Sky
That's another thing I'm loving about this show: the music selection (I have so many new songs added to the work playlist it's not even funny, whoever chooses this music is so on point)
I am literally checking out the book series because I am loving this show that much; my head is stuck in Montana with Cassie (thanks BS! no, really) so I have to check them out
"Sunshine" is now my new favorite term of endearment - thanks Michael!
I'm sorry I didn't see the first two seasons when they were airing, but then again, with the two main case arcs of season 1, kind of glad I could binge it - the week-to-week wait for answers would have tormented me (this show has mastered the art of the cliffhanger I've noticed)
I could not believe that by the end of the pilot, Ryan's character was gone just like that, I sure didn't see that coming (I thought maybe he was just in the first season and then moved on), so my hat's off to the writers on that one
I love that this show is not shy or timid to address how POC can be treated by local law enforcement - I even admire that they threw that into Rick's arc as his reasoning as to why Cassie doesn't like him and suspects him, and how she proves him so wrong on that shit while Jenny and Tubb stand behind her
I do wish that there was more Native American representation - from what I've seen so far, it's sorely lacking - especially when they mention how girls go missing in that area, sometimes Indigenous women - they had a real opportunity there to shed some light on this very important topic - I hope that changes moving forward in the show
Not gonna lie, I felt way more chemistry between Mark and Jerrie than I did Cassie and Mark - I'm interested to see how the dynamic between Cassie and Mark progresses to end up where they do in 2x18
I really enjoy Omar's performance as Mark - I would still pick Beau over him (what can I say? I have a fondness for some of the good ol' Texas boys ;-) ) but I do love what Omar has done with the character - I'm very glad he showed up to lend a hand with Ronald
All in all, I enjoyed season 1. Looking forward to season 2 (which definitely will not get done before tomorrow night's episode, man I should have binged this earlier).

Forrest Gump (1994); AFI #76
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next film that was reviewed for the AFI top 100 was perhaps the most Americana movie of them all, Forrest Gump (1994). This is the story of a relatively simple man who truly experiences life by doing what people tell him he should do. The film won at the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Visual Effects, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing. Tom Hanks won his second consecutive Best Actor role after winning for Philadelphia the previous year, and this really put his stamp down as an A-List talent with huge box office draw. Robert Zemeckis was finally recognized by the Academy for the consistently good work he had done in the 80s and 90s for films like Romancing the Stone (1984), Back to the Future (1985), and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988). The story of Forrest Gump is quite the journey (quite literally), so I want to go through it before pointing out some behind the scenes aspects of the film. This, of course, means that wonderful part of all of my reviews:
SPOILER WARNING!!! THIS IS A GREAT STORY AND THERE ARE DEFINITELY SOME ASPECTS TO SPOIL, SO PLEASE CHECK OUT THE MOVIE BEFORE READING ANY FURTHER! IT IS WORTH SEEING WITHOUT KNOWING THE ENDING!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1981, at a bus stop in Savannah, Georgia, a man named Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) recounts his life story to strangers who sit next to him on a bench. He makes the very famous statement that really frames the entire film: "Life is like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna' get."
In 1956, in Greenbow, Alabama, young Forrest is fitted with leg braces to correct a curved spine since he is unable to walk properly. Forrest is named after the founder of the Klu Klux Klan as a reminder what foolish things people do. His father ran away (his mom calls it being on vacation), so he lives alone with his mother (Sally Fields), who runs a boarding house. Forrest has an IQ of 80, which should keep him from the public school, but his mother works out a deal with the principal. Mrs. Gump is very shrewd and is able to attract a lot of interesting characters to their home including a young Elvis Presley, who plays the guitar for Forrest and incorporates Forrest's jerky dance movements into his performances. Being able to attend school, Forrest takes the bus and meets a girl named Jenny Curran, and the two become best friends.
Forrest is often bullied because of his physical disability and low intelligence. One of those things suddenly changes because, while fleeing from several bullies (Run, Forrest, run!), his leg braces break off, revealing Forrest to be very fast. Forrest and Jenny (Robin Wright Penn) remain best friends through to college age, and the bullies continue to chase him. During one particular escape, Forrest is discovered by University of Alabama coach Bear Bryant. This talent for running gets Forrest a football scholarship and a college education. At his time at the college, he is coached by Bear Bryant, witnesses Governor George Wallace's Stand in the Schoolhouse Door (during which he returns a dropped book to Vivian Malone Jones), becomes a top kick returner, is named to the All-American team, and meets President John F. Kennedy at the White House.
After graduating college in 1967, Forrest enlists into the U.S. Army. During basic training, he befriends a fellow soldier named Benjamin Buford Blue (nicknamed "Bubba" and played by Mykelti Williamson), who convinces Forrest to go into the shrimping business with him after their service. Later that year, they are sent to Vietnam, serving with the 9th Infantry Division in the Mekong Delta region under Lieutenant Dan Taylor (Gary Sinise). After months of routine operations, their platoon is ambushed while on patrol, and Bubba is killed in action. Forrest saves several wounded platoonmates – including Lieutenant Dan, who loses both his legs – and is awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroism by President Lyndon B. Johnson.
At the famous anti-war March on the Pentagon rally, Forrest briefly reunites with Jenny, who has become a drug addicted hippie and anti-war activist. He is kicked out of a Black Panther meeting when he defends Jenny from an abusive boyfriend. He also develops a talent for ping-pong and becomes a sports celebrity as he competes against Chinese teams in ping-pong diplomacy, earning him an interview alongside John Lennon on The Dick Cavett Show, influencing the song "Imagine". He spends the 1972 New Year's Eve in New York City with Lieutenant Dan, who has become an alcoholic, embittered about his disability and the government's apathy towards Vietnam vets. Forrest's ping-pong success eventually leads to a meeting with President Richard Nixon, whose administration get him a room in the Watergate complex, where he unwittingly exposes the Watergate scandal.
Discharged from the army, Forrest returns to Greenbow and endorses a company that makes ping-pong paddles. He uses the earnings to buy a shrimping boat in Bayou La Batre, fulfilling his promise to Bubba. Lieutenant Dan joins Forrest in 1974, and they initially have little success. After their boat becomes the only one to survive Hurricane Carmen, they pull in huge amounts of shrimp and create the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, after which Lieutenant Dan finally thanks Forrest for saving his life. Lieutenant Dan invests into what Forrest thinks is "some kind of fruit company" (MacIntosh) and the two become millionaires. Forrest also gives half of his earnings to Bubba's family for inspiring the venture. Forrest then returns home to his mother and takes care of her as she dies of cancer.
In 1976, Jenny – in the midst of recovering from years of drugs and abuse – returns to visit Forrest. He starts to realize how angry she is with her life and father, so he of course decides to propose to her. She says no because she will only hurt him, but that night she tells Forrest she loves him and the two make love, but she leaves the next morning. Heartbroken, Forrest goes running "for no particular reason", and spends the next three years on a relentless cross-country marathon, becoming famous again before returning to Greenbow. This so beautiful because Forrest is so lost without Jenny or his momma, so he falls back on the only thing that he really knows how to do.
In 1981, Forrest reveals that he is waiting at the bus stop because he received a letter from Jenny, who asked him to visit her. Forrest is finally reunited with Jenny, who introduces him to their son, Forrest Gump Junior. Jenny tells Forrest she is sick with an "unknown virus" and the three move back to Greenbow. Jenny and Forrest finally marry, but she dies a year later. The film ends with Forrest seeing his son off on his first day of school.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This film has a lot of greats, but also a couple of bads. The story is very engaging and turns into the most nostalgic American history lesson of all time. Tom Hanks plays a constant fish-out-of-water character, because Forrest has intelligence levels, which lead to a constant need for explanation. It is a fantastically filmable concept and Zemeckis takes full advantage of it.
Speaking of filming, the cinematography is absolutely gorgeous. The different shots that replay those historical moments (the integration at the University of Alabama, the Mekong Delta during the war, the protest at Washington DC), the beauty of the American roads, the Bayou when they are shrimping, and the giant Gump property are all beautiful. They also did a pretty good job of editing Forrest into stock footage as far as the body goes. It was groundbreaking at the time, but it can be done in After Effect by Youtubers at this point. What was not impressive and obviously does not hold up is the face tracking. Specifically bad are the presidents and John Lennon when they altered the mouths on historical footage to try and make them say different things. It is terrible. It does not break the movie, but it is both noticeable and laughable, especially since the film won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
The score written for the film is simple and elegant, really adding to the mood and the tone. The songs can be somber and a little sad, but there is this child-like simplicity that is constantly hopeful and moving forward. Very much like Forrest Gump. The rest of the soundtrack follows the popular rock anthems of the time and the whole thing is a pleasure to listen to. I used to just let it play when I was trying (with moderate success) to do my calculus homework in high school.
The statements that Forrest Gump makes throughout the film carry more and more weight as we realize that he is saying these things from his own experience and not just because somebody told him. The phrase "I am not a smart man, but I know what love is" is so powerful coming from Forrest. He says this after Jenny turns him down for marriage, and it becomes apparent that his loss of Bubba and his mother taught him what caring for somebody really means. He might not be able to give a psychological definition of love, but he has experienced it. Beautifully written and emotionally delivered.
One other thing that might be good or bad, depending on how you see it, is that the movie is blatantly sentimental. It tugs at the heart strings, but it is really trying to do it. Bubba dies, Lieutenant Dan loses his legs, Jenny is constantly in trouble, Mrs. Gump dies...all of these things have the same downward shots with somber music. These scenes are all followed up with forward movie scenes and uplifting music. The film constantly pulls the audience all over the place, which makes the tone go all over the place. Knowing that this was Robert Zemeckis directing, it makes me think that this was purposeful. Forrest Gump had a very difficult time knowing what was going on, so he depended on the context and what people said to tell him how he should feel. The audience truly experienced what it was like to be Forrest, and we all went on a life journey with him
One thing that I saw when browsing through interviews was that the unknown virus that Jenny died of was not AIDS. It was supposed to be Hepatitis, according to the director, the author of the source material, and the screen writer. AIDS was just the major disease on the global mind at the time, but it wasn't that common in the early 80s. It was hard to tell because most deaths close to Forrest were not shown at the point of passing. Forrest doesn't want to talk about those moments, and he is the real narrator.
Does this movie belong on the AFI top 100? Of course. This is the most Americana film I know of, and it showcases a simple view of two decades of the American experience. Would I recommend it? Hell yeah! This movie is a whole lot of fun and a really easy watch. There are some technical flaws, but the story and acting are superior to just about anything else I have seen.

Hiding the Evidence: Media Blocked From Scene of Border Storming in El Paso
Tumblr media
We told you about the chaotic scene in El Paso, Texas, Thursday when a horde of illegal aliens swarmed the fences at the southern border and clashed with the National Guard. President Biden and WH Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pathetically blamed former president Donald Trump and Gov. Greg Abbott, respectively, for the situation.
More:
Karine Jean-Pierre Knows Just Who's to Blame for Storming at the El Paso Border: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott
WH Engages in 'Breathtaking Levels of Gaslighting' on Border Being Overrun
But now Jennie Taer, the Texas-based reporter for the New York Post who broke the story with her colleague James Breeden and posted the stunning video, says that the area where the mayhem occurred has been blocked off to the media. How convenient.
"Looks like authorities aren’t too happy with her footage!" wrote Daily Telegraph's National Affairs Editor James Morrow.
“Media now being blocked from the scene where we captured a breach by hundreds of migrants in El Paso yesterday, how do we do our jobs now?” Taer asked in her post.
"The optics are terrible for Biden," responded journalist Auden B. Cabello.
The sign is simple and to the point: get the h*** out of here, and don’t you dare publicize the administration’s failings.
***MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA*** Please stay off the ramp and away from the sliding gate. DO NOT disrupt US Border Patrol Operations by being in the way of transportation vehicles. DO NOT attempt to make contact with migrants unless authorized by US Border Patrol officials. Please refer all inquiries to the US Border Patrol Public Affairs Office [phone number].
Wait—how can they tell reporters they are not allowed to talk to the "migrants?" Isn't there a little thing called the First Amendment?
Fox News reporter Bill Melugin, who has covered the border crisis extensively and posted multiple disturbing videos about what’s really going on down there, said it brought back memories:
TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk entered the social media conversation, asking, who’s keeping you away from the site? “Feds, BP,” Taer replied.
She also reported that some of the illegals had knives: "SCOOP: TX Guard confiscated knives from migrants who rushed border, one tried to grab gun," she wrote in one post. "We're also told that TX authorities are reviewing video to determine which migrants were involved & are weighing state charges."
In another post, she revealed that some of the illegals sported gang tattoos:
The Biden administration doesn’t want you to see this and will do everything in their power to hide the evidence, just as they’ve done all along.
Meanwhile, the horrific terrorist action in Russia Friday showed the carnage and havoc that a small group of committed militants can wreak on society if left undetected. Who among the possibly 10 million people that Biden has let in has bloodthirsty intent?
Unfortunately, the answer is unknowable—but what we do know is that this is the fault of the ostensible captain of the ship, Commander in Chief Joe Biden. What he has let occur under his watch is a national disgrace, and while he and his underlings blame everything under the sun except themselves and their own terrible policies, they have created a truly dangerous situation. The blame for the potential results lies squarely at their feet.

Ron Speirs x reader
Part 4!! Part 3 is linked here. This whole series is just smut central, so yeah you already know to expect 18+ content below the cut 😈
Jenny finds herself deeper into Ron Speirs than what she originally believed. After two weeks more had passed, they’re sneaking around has become more frequent. But things are starting to change, the dynamic isn’t what Jenny originally thought. This was meant to be angst but it turned into smut, sorry- the next chapter will be angst I PROMISE.
Tumblr media
May 30th, 1945:
The days in Austria as an occupational force were spent drinking, doing the occasional patrol, and your CO’s finding you odd jobs to prevent you from turning into a nut case. It all sounds very uninteresting, unless you had a tall, broodingly handsome commanding officer as a distraction from it all.
In the weeks I’d known Ron they were filled with the most dirtiest sex I’d ever had. He was rough, he had stamina like no other and he actually knew how to satisfy a woman. Our hook ups were still kept on the down low, taking place almost anywhere and anytime apart from either of our bedrooms. The level of intimacy was yet to upgrade into there, for a reason I wasn’t too sure about.
Most of the time we’d do our business and move onto wherever else we needed to be. The conversations had been sparse, and after he’d leave I found myself longing for more from him. I knew it wasn’t a good sign, and I should’ve checked myself out of the situation, but he was Ron Speirs- I was so deeply attracted to him that even if I tried I couldn’t stop myself lingering towards him. His kisses were always so deep and passionate, and he’d never without fail make me cum before he did himself. The one time he’d finished before I did he’d apologised and then progressed to perform the best oral sex on me I’d ever experienced. God, the highs with Speirs was unbeatable, what I’d do to have ten more minutes with him right n-
“Battalion HQ won’t accept them cos they’re all scrunched up. God knows what you’re doing in your free time for them to look like this.” A hand splattered down a pile of half messed up papers, my eyes widened at the sight knowing exactly why they were that way. Nixon stood above me with a playful expression on his face, he looked borderline smug at his joke. “Not what you’re thinkin’, Nix.” My eyes narrowed, pulling the papers back towards me. They were the reports from all the men’s physical examinations, the time when Ron screwed me on my desk. On the papers…
“They want you to write them out again, sorry I know, massively annoying, but you know how much of a buzzkill they all are up there.” A smile grew to my face at Lew’s general distaste for many things in life. Many could view him as a pessimist, but he just had a super good sense of humour. Well, most of the time. “It’s fine, Lew. I’ll get them done in the next hour.” My hands reached out to grab the messed up papers. They weren’t that bad, HQ just had to be annoying, didn’t they? Whilst many of the other nurses were out enjoying the beginning of an Austrian summer, Mary and I were cooped up inside, finishing papers, studying or, examining men. It was my job, I wasn’t complaining but I just suffered a mass case of FOMO.
The door swung open again, Captain Speirs, as expected, 1600 hours, sharp. My gaze averted from Lewis to my CO, lips tugging in the corners. “Afternoon, sir.” I greeted once Mary and Lewis had said their greetings. “Afternoon.” He nodded in my direction, eyes dropping down to the papers in front of me. With one quick glimpse he shot me a funny look before turning back to Nixon, with news about war in the Pacific. I wondered if he recognised the papers? Or if he’d even noticed at the time what we’d done, probably not/m- but Ron always recognised detail, that’s something I’d grown to learn about him. The memory of these papers was still raw on my mind, I hoped the same for him. After another 45 minutes or so, Lewis had left and there was just the three of us filling in our work in silence. I was growing increasingly frustrated, not because of the papers, but how much I couldn’t stop thinking about Speirs moving across his desk and over to mine and messing them up all over again. If we were sat next to one another I could’ve easily slipped my hand under the table and teased him through his uniform trousers. My legs were tensing and I found myself crossing them to rid some of the tension I needed. It only provided me with the smallest amount of friction, but at least it was something. Sighing, I continued writing out the last of my papers, seeing there was about four more to go. “I’ve finished, thank god!” Mary then cried out causing me to jump slightly as I looked back over to her in jealousy. “You better be done soon.” She pointed to me. “Thank you, sir.” With a firm salute, she exited the room all together, the door gently closing behind her. I watched as she made her way down the hallway and vanished, before reappearing walking past the slit in half open curtain, all giddy and happy to be done. With just the two of us there grew a new found tension. It’s as though we expected this to happen, being alone was rare, so I’d take anything I could get. My desk was open at the bottom, facing across from where Ron was. My eyes lingered over the focused man once before dropping my legs slightly forwards, nudging my feet together and dragging one foot over the other. My movements caused his writing to still as he glanced up, to which I looked away teasingly. I hadn’t done any paper work for the past 5 minutes, I was in my own world, when Ron finally said something. “Aren’t you supposed to be writing?” Aren't you supposed to be fucking me already.
“Mmmmh, yes sir but I can’t focus.” I stared directly at the ink I dripped back into the pot. “Well, you don’t look like you have much more to go. Keep writing.” He instructed as I pursed my lips, biting the inside of my cheek as I reluctantly went back to doing my work. I could feel his eyes on me, burning holes into my legs, my bare legs. I wasn’t wearing any stocking or tights, I opted out seeing as it was hot today. Maybe he was wondering what else I wasn’t wearing? Sighing again, I began scribbling down the numbers, copying them from the other sheets without fault. There was a movement across from me, Speirs had stood up now, lowering the blinds from behind him to close fully, before making his way over to the door and pulling the blind shut on there. I remained unfocused on my work, watching him when his back was turned to me, when he did make his way over I squeezed my legs together once again and dropped my head back down to conceal my smile. “Keep writing- there was a glare, that’s all.” He’d closed the blinds behind me, slowly. Painfully slowly. It’s like he was watching over what I was doing, and when he stalked up behind me I felt his hand slip onto the back of my chair. “You’ve got through that quick enough.” He pointed out as I dropped my pen. “I’m on my last two.” Gazing up to him, I could tell there was an ulterior motive behind his eyes. ‘There was a glare’, okay Ron. “Good, keep going with them.” He instructed as I awkwardly moved back up to reach for my pen. As I did, I felt his hand smooth over the inner of my shoulder, thumb brushing over my bare skin as my eyes closed and I inhaled, taking in the relief of his touch. I had my white nursing dress on, better fit for this weather than the wool of my blue uniform or the khaki ones. It was thin, floaty, I much preferred it, but it meant now Ron’s touch was something I was even more sensitive to.
As his hands glided back and fourth over my shoulders, he began to slip them down to undo the top buttons on my dress. My focus was out of the window now. “Why did you stop?” Ron’s movements fell flat, waiting for me to resume my work. Oh, so he wants to play that game. Slowly, I picked my pen back up again, dipping it in the ink and cautiously writing out the numbers and names. Shit- I couldn’t write when his hands were now unbuttoning more of my dress. One of his hands snuck down the shirt part of my dress, groping at my tits, squeezing and rolling his thumb over the softness of the exposed skin. My jaw clenched, hesitating to write the next number as he nudged the fabric of my lace bralet out of the way.
Now, he took his fingers, brushing it over the sensitivity of my nipple. This really got me aching for him, shivers ran down my spine as I exhaled out, my legs pushing together as I circled my hips by habit. Ron’s fingers nipped ever so gently over my nipple, before moving onto the next one. Oh god. In order to impress him in this game he had going on, I continued writing as hard as it was. The way his fingers were pinching and stroking over my nipples, grabbing handfuls like he couldn’t get enough, it drove me crazy- he drove me crazy. “Can you be good and finish these papers for me?” Leaning closer, he crouched down to my level, lips dangerously close to my ear. “Yeah.” I sighed out. “No. Yes who?” His words made me want to moan out loud there and then. “Yes, Captain Speirs.” He pressed a kiss as a rewards to my cheek, the writing becoming impossibly difficult when he started kissing at my neck. His fingers moved up to my mouth, indicating he wanted me to wet them as I sucked obediently, humming out a pathetic whine. “Take your panties off.” He muttered, again, I did as I was told and stripped them down, handing them over as he shoved them in his pocket. Oh my fucking god. His fingers were back in my mouth as I sucked obediently, other hand still groping my breast. “When you finish this I’ll give you what you need.” He muttered into my ear, holding my jaw firmly now. “Mmmh, sir-“ I attempted to protest but he left me cold, marching back over to his table. Fuck, what was he doing to me. After the next few minutes had passed, I found myself grinding into my chair, looking him with pitiful eyes as I poured out a moan. When I’d scribbled the rest of the numbers down and added it to the complete pile, I was half expecting him to come storming over. But he didn’t. Sighing, I took my hand down and began hitching up my dress. Speirs too had stopped writing as he watched me with a mesmerised look. The second my fingers touched my dripping core I let out a soft breath in relief. Slowly, I played with myself in front of him. I watched as one of his hands disappeared under the table, only turning me on further. Fuck he was touching himself- and I needed to see. Spreading my legs wider, I slipped in one finger with a moan, my head falling back. The scraping of his chair didn’t stop me, in fact it only made me want to carry on. Retrieving me, he literally picked me up and set me back down on his lap, behind his desk, ass on his bulging crotch as he propped up my legs, forcing my shoes off as I spread them, feet on either of his knees. “Show me what you were doing.” He instructed, one hand planted firmly over my tit, the other hooked around my waist as his chin rested on my shoulder. I let out a shy giggle as he kissed me jaw tenderly. “Show me, Jenny.” Oh fuck. The first time he’d used my name, and it sounded so good coming from his lips. His larger hand smoothed over mine, brushing it down my body and guiding me to touch myself once again. Slowly, my movements returned, aided with his hand as he watched. My hips ground back against his, ass digging further into his cock. “Grind like that back into me. Good girl.” He hummed as I let out a gentle moan, head dropping back against his as he nuzzled his face against me closer.
His hand continued pushing mine to rub over myself, before leaving me to my own work and instead gripping my hip and guiding me into him. As my pleasure increased, I could feel Ron pushing himself up into me, borderline dry humping me as I panted out, keeping my whines to a minimum seeing as we weren’t exactly in private.
“Sir, I’m gon-“
“Ron.” He corrected, strained as I felt a twinge in my heart. “What?” I whispered as he breathlessly shuddered out, “call me Ron.” The somewhat vulnerability of his tone made me cry out gently as the coil in my stomach became tighter and tighter. Just as I was about to release, Ron let out a shuddered groan, his body jittering as my eyes widened realising what had happened. Before I could process, I was tipping over the edge, gripping his hand tighter and tighter. a
“Ron.” I gasped out, voice strained until I felt my pleasure become overwhelming and I came crashing down into a leg shaking orgasm. I was a panting and jittering mess by the end of it. Fuck, it was good, he was so good, and I couldn’t quite believe it when I realised I’d made him finish inside of his pants.
I let out a hum, attempting to move but Ron tugged me back in, sighing against my shoulder as he nested his face close to mine. For a second I didn’t know how to act, he was physically cuddling me. My hand smoothed over his arm, relaxed and satisfied by the position. My feet had fallen from his his knees now, resting close together due to the sensitivity between my legs.
“Did you finish the papers?” Ron was the first to speak, thumb grazing over my hip as I hummed. “Yeah.” I whispered. “Sorry, I distracted you.” The softness of his words were making my stomach erupt with butterflies, my chest was on fire yet I felt so at ease in his arms. Panicking, I realised my feelings for Ron were a lot stronger than I initially realised. Fuckkkk.
“It’s okay… it was worth it.” I gently smiled hearing him let out a gentle laugh. Deciding to push myself off, his hand was cautious to gaze off me as he was looking at me with a funny kinda expression, hand covering the stain he’d made in his trousers.
“What?” I whispered, brows raising a little as I pulled my bra back over my tits and slowly redid the buttons on my top. “Nothin’.” Ron shook his head as I shot him another smile before turning back down to my dress. “Just your dress..” he muttered out, in a low muffled kinda tone as I smoothed my hands over it worriedly. “What’s wrong with it?”
“No, it looks good. That’s all.”
“Oh.” Oh. “Thanks.” I shyly smiled, brushing it back down to smooth out the creases. “Um… my underwear.” I awkwardly spoke. “Oh, right. Sorry.” He let out a small laugh, retrieving them from his pocket as I tugged them back on with a giggle.
“Oh, and Jen?” The nickname almost made me throw up from the mixture of emotions. “Yeah?” My voice was light and airy, shocked by his kind words.
“Im kinda gonna need your help with… this.”
“Oh, shit- I mean, sorry yeah.” My face was burning up knowing what he was talking about. The stain on his pants wasn’t easy concealable, I’d had to retrieve him a new pair of trousers from the room he bunked in. He got one of the nicest rooms, of course, but it was astonishing, fit for the needs of a king. I fell asleep that night with more than enough thoughts whirling around in my mind. The nickname he had for me, calling me by my name- asking me to call him his name. It all felt so very intimate and vulnerable. Whilst the sex remained outright dirty, there was a softer edge to Ronald Speirs that I thought I might be becoming to like a little too much…

Shocking video shows officer choking an unarmed trans woman twice on her own property
A Florida sheriff’s office has cleared an officer of wrongdoing after he was caught on a body camera footage choking a Guatemalan transgender woman and calling her “it.” In November 2020, Sean Bush, a deputy from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), said that a then-24-year-old trans woman named Jenny DeLeon had provoked his forceful arrest after she allegedly grabbed him by the wrist and knocked him off balance while he investigated a domestic disturbance on her property. However, attorney Katherine Viker recently uncovered Bush’s body cam footage while conducting an unrelated allegation of another HCSO deputy using excessive force, The Huffington Post reported. The November 2020 body cam video shows DeLeon greeting Bush with a fist bump and then refusing Bush’s instruction for her to sit down. DeLeon then says that no one in the home called for him to come and asked Bush to go back to his patrol car. Soon after, she asks Bush to please stay six feet away due to COVID-19 concerns. She then tells the officer, “You’re so awesome. Thank you for your service.” However, when Bush moves towards her car, DeLeon raises her arm and asks him not to touch the vehicle because of fears of possible COVID-19 transmission. Such transmissions are rare, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Bush then says, “Don’t touch me,” before grabbing the woman’s arm, shirt, and neck and pushing her to the ground in a chokehold. Bush then pulls out his stun gun as DeLeon says, “I’m epileptic!” Bush uses the stun gun on her, even though stun guns can trigger seizures in epileptic people. Later on, he grabs her by the throat again and then shoves her into some plants before using the stun gun on her again. He then rolls her onto her stomach and began handcuffing her. As two other deputies arrived, Bush tells them, “Just keep whatever it is down,” referring to DeLeon as an “it,” a dehumanizing transphobic slur. After the HCSO received a complaint about Bush’s use of force and a slur, the office conducted an investigation which began on December 2, 2020. The investigation ended one month later, and by March 2021, the HCSO sent Bush a letter saying that it found neither evidence of “excessive or unnecessary force,” nor of Bush making derogatory remarks. It also called Bush’s chokehold “brief and unintentional.” Chokeholds violate the HCSO’s use-of-force policy, according to its website. Bush remains an HSCO deputy. In a statement issued last week, HCSO wrote, “Following review of body-worn camera video… it was determined that … the suspect continuously refused to follow commands on scene and was physically combative with the deputy…. The deputy unintentionally briefly used techniques that are not in line with HCSO’s procedures.” After her interaction with Bush, DeLeon was charged with battery, battery on a law enforcement officer, depriving an officer of means of protection or communication, and resisting an officer with violence. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail. One year later, DeLeon was fatally stabbed. A 40-year-old man named Damien Marshall has been arrested in connection to her murder. Marshall said he slept with DeLeon but denied killing her. “You see the video; what they said happened compared to what actually happened is not true,” Viker told The Huffington Post in a statement. “The video is the best representation of what actually occurred. Videos don’t lie.” Viker isn’t representing DeLeon’s family members. It’s unclear if the family will take any actions in response to the newly uncovered video. A March 2020 study by the National Center for Transgender Equality found that half of transgender people reported discomfort with seeking police assistance. About 22 percent of trans people who had interacted with police reported police harassment, and 6 percent of transgender individuals reported that they experienced bias-motivated assault by officers. http://dlvr.it/Sbdgc6

Security measures for Marcos' 1st SONA compared with past presidents'
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similar to his inauguration, security measures for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr‘s first-ever State of the Nation Address will be tight and well-guarded, with over 21,000 personnel to be deployed for the event. Reports say there will be 21,853 people who will make up his security contingent on his initial annual address on July 25 to be held at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City. This is an increase from the previously reported 15,174 security forces that were planned, which would be composed of 9,919 National Capital Region Police Office personnel, 1,891 Philippine National Police forces and 3,364 individuals from other law enforcement agencies. According to NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad, the figures were increased due to supposed extensive planning. “We are elated to report that everyone was so cooperative in addressing some flaws in the overall plan,” he said in a statement. “We will continuously conduct dialogue and coordination meetings not only with our partners and counterparts, but also with the community and civil society leaders to determine and address concerns in order to ultimately achieve a peaceful and safe State of the Nation Address of PBBM,” Natividad added. He also said that the same template and security package was utilized during Marcos’ inauguration. Lt. Col. Jenny Tecson, NCRPO spokesperson, said that the contingent is not just limited to the SONA site but to border control points in Metro Manila and other engagement areas as well. Apart from the national police, the contingent will also be from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, force multipliers and other volunteer groups. Zipper lanes will also be set up along Commonwealth Avenue, the main highway leading to the Batasang Pambansa. Re-routing plans have been laid out by the MMDA to pave way for essential vehicles to freely utilize portions of the avenue. Motorists also need to anticipate stricter police inspections in “Oplan Sita” checkpoints by foot and mobile patrol teams. In addition, reports say there will be a prohibition against firearms outside of residence in Metro Manila from July 22 to 27. For comparison, when former president Rodrigo Duterte conducted his third SONA in 2018, reports said there were around 6,000 cops and 600 soldiers deployed to various parts of Metro Manila. In his fourth SONA, over 14,000 cops were expected to provide security for him and the attendees. By his penultimate address, the number decreased to over 7,000 personnel since the event only had 50 physical attendees due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Duterte’s last annual SONA, the figure returned to about 15,000 officers as more guests were allowed to attend. At that time, vaccines against the coronavirus were already administered to some Pinoys. During former president Noynoy Aquino’s term, there were 10,000 cops deployed for his final SONA. Meanwhile, the number of security forces for Marcos’ annual address didn’t escape some Filipinos’ observation. “‘Yung sa last SONA, 15k personnel lang ‘yung dineploy, ngayon 21k na. Kawawa naman ‘yung mga tax payer, nasasayang pambayad nila kasi need nila pasahuran ‘yung 21k tapos isang tao lang babantayan. Sana gamitin na lang sa makabuluhang bagay ‘yung mga tax namin,” a Pinoy from Twitter partly said. “Ano ang threat?” another online user asked in response to the increase in security. A different Filipino commented that the SONA could be held in the headquarters of either the PNP or AFP following the number of security personnel to be deployed. “Sa Crame o Aguinaldo niyo na lang gawin ang SONA,” the online user tweeted. The SONA is one of the greatest security challenges of any government since the event convenes the highest officials of the land in one place. Measures must be implemented to protect the president, vice president and the Congress against perceived threats and incidents. Read Full News @ Interaksyon Read the full article
