Earth, Sky, and Storms. More like a fanmade sequel but I consider it an AU since I feel like Audrey died at the end in canon- I'm gonna put it on AO3 so I don't want to reveal too much about it

Unnamed Wandersong Flower AU. Pretty similar to canon Wandersong but also drastically different, and I'm also putting this one on AO3 (when I think of a hecking title, that is-) sooo

Over The Garden Wall AU. I actually thought of this just last night while playing Stray, but I really like it already- Kiwi is Greg, Miriam is Wirt, Audrey is Beatrice (except she's a woodpecker and not a bluebird), the Dream King is the Beast, Eyala... idk yet but her being Adelaide would be funny and with Audrey being Beatrice it might make a little sense, and Mask is the tavernkeeper for literally no reason except I felt like it kind of fits

Hollow Knight AU. These are literally my two favorite games and Kiwi loves bugs so it's perfect- Although this has basically no development except Kiwi is a grasshopper, Miriam is a moth, and Audrey is a vessel

D&D AU. This is pretty much just an excuse for Kiwi to get a mind flayer tadpole shoved in their eye because I love mind flayers but it exists and has a little bit of development- Also Kiwi is a bard (obviously), Miriam is a sorcerer, and Audrey is a paladin

The Owl House AU. Literally all I have of this is Kiwi joins the BATTs and Miriam's palisman is a kiwi bird

Vampire Kiwi and werewolf Miriam AU. This was actually my first Wandersong AU but that doesn't mean it's very developed and tbh I just use it to play around with lore for this kind of thing in my various fictional universes- Although basically Kiwi gets bitten by a vampire at some point and panics and tries to keep it a secret from Miriam but she figures it out at some point and then is like "dude you are literally my best (and only) friend why would something like this ruin that"

Spider-themed Audrey-centric AU. I came up with this while vibing to Hello, My Treacherous Friends by OK Go in the car and I genuinely don't know if it's a joke or not but Audrey with eight eyes/limbs and mandibles is super cool and Eyala as a floofy anthropomorphic rainbow tarantula is just plain what more could you want

Ice And Fire (the Minecraft mod) AU. Basically I remembered some old fanfics of mine and impulsively decided to make them but the Sad Pixel Trio instead

Thaumcraft AU. Same deal here (yes I have hyperfixated on Minecraft mods twice. I hyperfixate on random things)

stuff i never finished and why

hello and good night . i'm just gonna ramble about stuff so yeah

oh man i really loved this drawing . but it was a PAIN IN THE ASS .

i had a bunch of problems with this one . i spent an embarrassing amount of time doing the line . then after i started painting it on Ibis paint i realized that i should've done the line with a textured brush .

then the background . i really couldn't make it look nice even if i tried . i spent so long just trying stuff and searching for references but i just couldn't get it right . the colors and the lightning kept looking weird .

and just when it was looking decent , oh no the file is corrupted !!! and if i wanted it back i would have to go through a speedpaint of a drawing that took me 28 hours ( i actually tried it 😭😭 but it was taking so long and after some time the app crashed )

so , i decided to just give up . i was already fed up with it . maybe some day i'll try to redraw it or something

edit : oh wait a second . this drawing makes no sense without the background . edgar looks like that because there's supposed to be a puddle under scriabin's swing and he's trying to get edgar wet with it

otgw x chapter 20 / 21

i just said i loved the other one but THIS ONE . this one is SO PRETTY and i was so excited to try some new brushes and overall just finish this . excited enough to start painting edgar without even finishing scriabin's line .

i was using a small tablet my friend let me borrow . it was actually so helpful because i could draw on my phone with it !! i used to work on this when i was at school .

then i started having problems with the background . again

then my friend told me that his mom didn't agree with him giving me the tablet and that he should give it to his sister instead so i had to give it back . great . at that point i didn't feel like finishing it so

love how the creation of pinocchio is framed not as whimsical woodworking but as an act of desperation. geppetto is basically a mad scientist fueled by grief and alcohol

pinocchio's nose turning into an actual sapling when he lies is very cute. very charming design decisions all around

the underworld is SO fun i loved the weird goth rabbits and the sphinx death angel. tim burton is shaking in his boots

i forgot patrick mchale (otgw guy) cowrote this so when i saw his name in the end credits i yelled "PAT MCHALE?"

there's some interesting paralleling of fascism and father-son relationships: the duty of the citizen to die for his fatherland, the duty of the son to make his father proud, the passing on of machismo and violence from father to son and from dictator to citizen.

Continuing my Audio Drama Recommendations based on Non-Podcast Faves series, a show that is very dear to my heart:

Hello from the Hallowoods

Premise:  In the forests of Northern Canada at the end of the world, the survivors of an eldritch apocalypse band together to survive, scraping meaning and community and joy from a world turned dark and strange by an eldritch apocalypse.  Few touched by the black rains remain unchanged--or even quite human--and the dead tend to not stay dead.  Most of humanity has shut itself away in a virtual world, but the malicious megacorporation that keeps it is not the only power invested in what plays out in these woods.

For if you like:

Over the Garden Wall - The Hallowoods may be filled with horrors, but the story is just so damn cozy.  It has that same eerie, dark warmth that makes Over the Garden Wall a favorite, particularly the pumpkin episode where the things that are frightening and welcoming may be one and the same.  Also like OTGW, Hallowoods loves to work through complex feelings and relationships through its spooky setting.

Discworld (/Good Omens) - This is mainly for two things I love about Pratchett’s writing: the profound wrapped up in the strange, and the catharsis of age-old tropes turned inside-out.  Fans of the Death series will find obvious things to love, but also: imagine the queerness of Monstrous Regiment multiplied by ten thousand.  And without giving away too much about my favorite subplot, it follows a demon sent on a celestial audit of earth and catching more feelings than he signed up for--I KNOW a lot of you would would love it.  And on a structural note, Hallowoods’ dozens of points of view overlap to create a complex, compelling whole with something for everyone--and you don’t even need a reading flowchart for it!

Don’t Starve Together - This one’s just pure and simple vibes, but oh are they TASTY.  Found family huddled together in creepy, sinister forests, finding small victories in putting together a garden and handful of bee boxes, or sharing a meal with a friend?  No joke whenever I play Don’t Starve these days I just pretend I’m building the Hallowoods Scoutpost.  Complete with local beloved ghost.

I got like ten suggestions from friends when putting this together, but wanted to keep this concise--feel free to reblog and add on with your own comparisons!  I’ve lured at least one person to this show over “what if Frankenstein’s Creature got love and support”!

Warning:  The show delves into topics like religious trauma and queerphobia, including a queerphobic fundamentalist as the central season 1 villain.  This can be pretty rough to listen to in the 20-28 span in particular.
