31. Battle And Chase
The episode begins with a view of a large racing track. The seats are packed with people. Everyone is cheering and is waiting for the race to start. The race cars drive up to the starting line. Out of the blue, the Skullker hovers over the racing track and lands in front of the starting line. Turbo Man and Nitro Man come out of the Skullker. They tell the racers that the racetrack now belongs to Dr. Wily. The racers come out of their racecars to confront Turbo Man and Nitro Man. Turbo Man and Nitro Man look back at the Skullker. Guts Man, Cut Man, Proto Man, Quick Man, and Ice Man come out of the Skullker. Dr. Wily then comes out of the Skullker and tells the racers to go back to their garages. Dr. Wily then has his robots get their racecars prepared.
Meanwhile, at Dr. Light's lab, Mega Man is getting his whole body polished. He is laughing as the polisher goes all over his body. "Hey! That tickles!" Mega Man says through giggles. A call comes up on the main screen in the main lab. The owners of the racetrack tell Dr. Light that Dr. Wily has gotten control of the racetrack. The owners show Dr. Wily's robots getting their racecars ready. Dr. Light asks the owners what Dr. Wily wants with the racetrack. The racetrack owners tell him that Dr. Wily is planning on using a racetrack as a facility to test his vehicles and Wily Machines. Dr. Light tells Mega Man about the situation at the racetrack. He has Mega Man and Rush fly over to the racetrack to stop Dr. Wily. As Mega Man and Rush are on their way to the racetrack, Dr. Light decides to have Roll go along with them in case they need her help. "Sure thing, Dr. Light!" Roll says to him. Roll flies over to the racetrack in the Air Raider.
Back at the racetrack, Dr. Wily's robots have their own racecars ready to go. Cut Man is the only one without a racecar. Dr. Wily has Cut Man go out on the racetrack and watch out for Mega Man as Dr. Wily expects him to fly to the racetrack to try to drive him out. Mega Man and Roll land onto the racetrack. "Welcome to the racetrack, robo dweebs!" Cut Man yells out to them. Cut Man fires his Rolling Cutters at them. Mega Man shoots at Cut Man and damages him. Cut Man runs back to Dr. Wily to alert him to their presence. Mega Man and Roll run over to where Cut Man ran off to. Dr. Wily and his robots come out and Dr. Wily tells them that the racetrack is his now. Mega Man aims his cannon at Dr. Wily and his robots. Dr. Wily's robots aim their cannons at Mega Man, Roll and Rush. Proto Man dares Mega Man to fire at them. He tells him that if he does, they will fire back at them all at once. Rolls yells at Mega Man to not fire at them. Mega Man puts down his cannon. Mega Man gets an idea. He challenges Dr. Wily's robots to a race. He tells them that if they win, Dr. Wily gets to keep the racetrack and he and Roll will leave. "Mega Man, what are you doing!?" Roll asks him in protest. Mega Man quitely says to Roll that he has everything under control. He then tells Dr. Wily and his robots that if he wins, they have to leave the racetrack and never come back to it. Dr. Wily's robots look at Dr. Wily as he is thinking about Mega Man's bargain. To everyone's surprise, especially Dr. Wily's robots, Dr. Wily accepts Mega Man's challenge. Mega Man extends his hand to have Dr. Wily shake it. Dr. Wily shakes his hand, and yells out to everyone to prepare for the race. Roll is still upset at Mega Man for making a deal with Dr. Wily. Mega Man tells her that it's the least damaging way that he can take back the racetrack and that no one will he harmed in the process. Roll understands and they head for the garage.
In the garage, Mega Man is calling up Dr. Light on his arm cannon. Mega Man tells him about the challenge that he gave Dr. Wily. Dr. Light agrees with Mega Man that the challenge is the best way to safely get Dr. Wily out of the racetrack. Dr. Light tells Mega Man that he will be right over to upgrade Rush so that Mega man can race with him.
Meanwhile, Dr. Wily's robots are in the other garages getting their racecars ready for the race. Cut Man is assisting Guts Man with fixing up his vehicle. Guts Man is bragging to Cut Man how his racecar is strong and durable. Cut Man tells Guts Man not to get too confident, as Mega Man is very smart and can easily outsmart him no matter how fast or powerful his vehicle is. Guts Man simply denies it and continues working on his vehicle. Cut Man sighs and
shakes his head. Dr. Wily is watching his robots getting their racecars ready on some screens in his Skullker. He presses a button on the control panel and calls up Proto Man, who is polishing his racecar and looking at his reflection on the car's hood. Dr. Wily comes on the videophone and asks Proto Man the progress of his racecar. Proto Man replies "100% and all ready to roll!" Dr. Wily is pleased that one of their racecars is ready. He exclaims that Mega
Man will very likely lose the race and the racetrack will remain in his possession.
Back at Dr. Light's lab, Dr. Light is working on a new form for Rush. Dr. Light tells Mega Man that this car form has some extra features to help him in the race. The news comes on the TV in the living room. Roll is in the living room watching TV. The reporter announces that Mega Man will race Dr. Wily's robots for control of the racetrack. Dr. Wily and Proto Man are interviewed by the reporter. Dr. Wily tells the reporter that the odds are more in his favor. The reporter then interviews Proto Man. After being interviewed, Proto Man looks at the camera and says, "Hear that, Mega Man? You're going to be eating our dust, so get your fork ready, Baby Brother! This racetrack will always be ours!" Mega Man was also watching the television. He is disgusted that Proto Man would say that on there. "I can't believe he would say that!" Mega Man angrily says to Roll. "Me neither!" Roll replies. Mega Man tells Roll that he will regret saying that tomorrow. Dr. Light comes in the living room and tells Mega Man that Rush's new form is ready. He tells Mega Man to rest up and get ready for tomorrow's race. The next day, the robot masters have their racecars lined up at the starting line. Quick Man is asking Ice Man where Mega Man is. Ice Man tells Quick Man, "Ehhh, He probably got cold feet and forfeited the race!" Proto Man overhears their conversation and chimes in "He better not!" Ice Man and Quick Man look over at Proto Man, who is leaning on the hood of his racecar with his arms crossed. "He knows what will happen if he did..." Proto Man says. The robot masters hear a car coming up to join them at the finish line. They look behind and see Mega Man driving up. He is riding Rush, who is in his new car form. Guts Man blurts out, "How did he make his dog do that?" Cut Man replies, "Must be some sort of stupid new trick!" Mega Man lines up at the finish line and gets out of his "racecar". "Hello, everyone!" Mega Man joyfully says to the robot masters, "You like Rush's new form?" Guts Man yells out, "Your
dumb dog is ground to get crushed by my Wild Arms!" Guts Man pats the hood of his racecar, causing the armlike parts to fall off. Guts Man quickly puts the parts back on. The announcer comes up on the loudspeakers and has the racers get their racecars ready. The robot masters and Mega Man get in their racecars and start their engines. Proto Man is next to Mega Man and tells him, "The odds are against you! Give it up, brother!" Mega Man swipes at him and focuses on the road. The announcer counts down. Quick Man says out loud "I'll be the fastest car on the track!" The racecars' engines rev. The announcer than yells out "Go!", and the racecars drive off.
Ice Man's racecar has some trouble getting past the line, but eventually picks up speed. Quick Man's racecar quickly zooms past the other cars. Mega Man yells out to Quick Man "Did you ever read 'The Tortoise And The Hare'?" Quick Man's racecar goes faster and faster. Quick Man confidently says to himself, "That winner's circle is as good as mine!" Suddenly, one of his racecar's tires blows out, causing his racecar to crash into a fence. His car is totaled in the process. Mega Man passes by him and yells out to him "Slow and steady wins the race, Quick Man! Remember that!" Quick Man simply sticks his tongue out at him. Mega Man speeds up and gets in the lead.
Ice Man is behind the other racers at last place. He sees that he is behind and thinks  out loud "Time for some inclement weather!" He fires his Ice Slasher at Guts Man's racecar. The Ice Slasher freezes one of the tires. Guts Man yells out, "Hey, No fair! That's cheatin'!" His racecar starts to lag, allowing Ice Man to speed past him. Ice Man cries out to Guts Man "You need to chill, Guts Man! Ha ha ha ha!" Guts Man can only shake his fist angrily at Ice Man as he drives away. Up ahead, Mega Man and Cut Man are competing for first place. Cut Man tries to bump into Mega Man with his racecar. "Hey! That's not very sportsman-like!" Mega Man shouts at Cut Man. Cut Man yells out "Who said we were supposed to be good sports?" Cut Man presses a button on his dashboard. A cutter pops out of the side of Cut Man's racecar. His racecar nears Mega Man's. "Oh no you don't!" Mega Man cries out. Mega Man presses a button on the dashboard of his racecar. A small blast of plasma fires out from the hubcap on one of Rush's wheels. The blast destroys the cutter. Cut Man is surprised that Mega Man's racecar is able to do that. "Th-that's cheating!" Cut Man cries out in disbelief. "Who said we were supposed to be good sports, Cut Man?" Mega Man says to Cut Man with a smile on his face. Cut Man leers at Mega Man and tries to get past him. Suddenly, Guts Man's racecar rams Cut Man's racecar. "No, Guts Man!" Cut Man cries out "We're on the same team!" Guts Man yells out to Cut Man "But yer hoggin' da road! Move it!" Guts Man
rams his racecar again, seemingly ignoring what Cut Man said to him. Mega Man uses this confrontation as an opportunity to pass them. Cut Man sees that Mega Man has passed them as they were clashing. "Now look what you've done!" Cut Man yells out to Guts Man. "Me!?" Guts Man roars out, "You were da one tailgatin' me, Bunny Ears!" Cut Man is insulted by Guts Man's name calling. "Bunny Ears!? Bunny Ears!? Why you no good-" he yells out to Guts Man. "Now focus on da race!" Guts Man loudly tells Cut Man "We gotta win da racetrack fer Dr. Wily!" Guts Man's race car zooms past Cut Man's racecar. Cut Man growls in anger and watches with rage as Guts Man speeds away.
Meanwhile, Proto Man is rather far back in the race. He sees Ice Man's racecar up ahead and a smirk crosses his face. He gets an evil idea. He presses a button on his dashboard, causing a cannon to pop out of the hood of his racecar. In his sideview mirror, Ice Man sees Proto Man aiming a cannon at him. Ice Man is shocked that Proto Man would try to cripple one of his allies' racecars. He yells out to Proto Man "Proto Man! Don't do it!" Proto Man asks him "Why not?" Ice Man stammers and says "Because we're all on the same team!" Proto Man responds "Yes, but Wily didn't say who should cross the finish line! In other words, every robot man for himself! Ha ha ha ha!" Ice Man glares at him and replies "You wanna play that way!? Fine! I can be just as cold as you!" Proto Man laughs and says "You robot masters are so unoriginal!" Proto Man speeds off, but before he does, he fires the cannon at Ice Man's racecar. Ice Man's racecar gets a bit damaged from the shot. Ice Man shakes his fist at Proto Man and says "You'll regret that, you red pimple!" Ice Man's racecar begins to shut down. "Oh great!" Ice Man groans. He presses a button on his dashboard, which summons some penguin-like robots to come over and fix his racecar. Meanwhile, Mega Man is coming up towards Guts Man's racecar. He says to himself "I'm gonna have to find a way around this big robo lug!" He looks for an opportunity to get past him. Guts Man sees that Mega Man is behind him. He suddenly stops his racecar, causing Mega Man to run right into the back of his racecar. Mega Man is shocked that the front of his car has been damaged. Rush yowls out in pain. Guts Man yells out "Ohhh, sorry about that, Mega Slowpoke! Ha ha ha ha!" Mega Man scowls at him and simply pulls over to get his racecar repaired.
Mega Man calls up Roll on her arm cannon and tells her that Guts Man damaged his racecar. Roll tells him "I'll be right there!" Mega Man huffs and says "What rotten luck! And he's still in the lead..." Roll, Eddie, and some pit crew bots run over to Mega Man's racecar. They quickly fix it up. Rush breathes a sigh of relief, as does Mega Man. Roll tells him "Go get 'em, Mega!" Mega Man waves to her and the other and drives off. Meanwhile, Dr. Wily is observing
the race from his Skullker. He sees that Quick Man is out of the race. He calls up Quick Man and angrily asks him what happened to his racecar. Quick Man tells Dr. Wily "I got...carried away..." Dr. Wily groans and tells him "Too bad your brain isn't as quick as your boomerangs!" He then looks to see who's in the lead. He is pleased to see that Guts Man is in the lead. He calls up Guts Man and says "Guts Man! How is my first place holder doing?" Guts Man confidently yells out "That racetrack is as good as yours, Wily!" Dr. Wily says to him "Looks like the Wild Arms is an arm up on the competition!" Guts Man pridefully yells out "Dat's right, Doc! And the Wild Arms is going to-" Just then, one of his tires has blow out. Guts
Man yells out "What the-" and looks back to see Cut Man, laughing maniacally. "Cut Man!?" Guts Man shouts out in sheer disbelief. "It's Bunny Ears, remember?" Cut Man yells out to him. He fires another cutter out of his racecar. The cutter his the back bumper of Guts Man's racecar. Guts Man gets angry and tries to suddenly stop so that Cut Man's racecar runs into him. To his shock, Cut Man makes a right turn when he suddenly stops. Mega Man manages to slip by them. He turns around and yells to them "Thank you guys for letting me pass!" He then waves to them. Guts Man and Cut Man look at each other with anger. Guts Man's car blows out a tire. He has no choice but to pull over. Cut Man speeds by him and yells out "Looks like the Wild Arms has been tamed! Ahe ahe ahe!" Guts Man pounds on his racecar and presses a button to call up his pit crew. His pit crew consist of Metools and Picket Men. He plops down and groans as his robots fix his racecar. "That Cut Man..." he softly growls.
Meanwhile, Mega Man is in the lead. "Looks like it's smooth sailing from here!" Mega Man says out loud. He hears someone shout out from behind "Not if I can help it!" He looks in his front view mirror and sees that Ice Man is approaching him. Mega Man rolls his eyes and presses a button on his dashboard. A plasma cannon pops out of the top of his car and aims itself at Ice Man. It fires at Ice Man's car, but barely damages it. Ice Man laughs and says "Now it's my turn!" He presses a button on his dashboard. An air conditioner-like cannon pops out of the hood of his racecar. "I'm going to cool your jets!" Ice Man yells out to Mega Man. Ice Man's cannon fires out several Ice Slashers. Mega Man's racecar manages to avoid them. "Now it's my turn, Ice Head!" Mega Man says to him. He fires at one of his tires, blowing it out in the process. Ice Man shouts out "You cold-hearted jerk!" Mega Man replies "How's this for cold-hearted?" and fires a fully charged blast at Ice Man's racecar. Most of Ice Man's tires have been blown out. He loses control of his racecar and crashes right into a wall. His racecars falls apart. Ice Man facepalms and says "This is so embarrassing..." Cut Man sees that Ice Man is out of the race, and laughs. "Looks like he needs to go to cold storage! Ahe ahe ahe!" he gloats.
He hears a familiar whistle from quite a ways away. Proto Man begins coming up to him. Cut Man tells him that Mega Man's in the lead. Proto Man says "Well I'll take care of that! You just stay behind and cover me!" Cut Man gives him and dirty look and says "Oh no! You're not going to boss me around!" Proto Man replies "You better! I'm Wily's right-hand bot, remember?" He smirks and says "...and if you don't do exactly as I say, you're going to be
answering to Dr. Wily instead! And trust me, he's not as merciful as I am!" Proto Man laughs evilly as he passes by. Cut Man looks on with great hatred on his face. He comes up to Guts Man's racecar. His racecar is almost done being repaired. "Hurry Up!" Guts Man yells at his pit crew. Cut Man stops next to Guts Man and asks him about the progress of his racecar's repairs. Guts Man roars at him "They would be done if they would only hurry up and quit foolin' around!" His pit crew picks up the pace and finally fixes up his racecar. "Alright!" Guts Man cries out "The Wild Arms is ready for more!" Before Cut Man can say anything to him, Guts Man speeds off. Cut Man pounds his fists on his dashboard and yells out "Why won't anybody listen to me!?" He speeds up and returns to the race.
Meanwhile, Proto Man is attempting to get in front of Mega Man's racecar. "Excuse me!" Proto Man says sarcastically. Mega Man yells out to him "Oh no! You're not getting by that easily!" Mega Man goes faster. Suddenly, the back of his racecar is being lifted up. "What the!?" Mega Man cries out. He turns around to see Guts Man lifting the back of his racecar up. Guts Man laughs hard and yells out "Looks like yer gettin' towed, Mega Loser!" "Is that so!" Mega Man says to him. Mega Man presses a button on his dashboard. A hand-like contraption comes up and touches one of the lifting parts on Guts Man's racecar. Guts Man is shocked to see Mega Man's racecar copying his racecar's "weapon". Mega Man then says to him "Now my racecar's got your power!" Guts Man, now a little bit afraid that Mega Man's racecar now has his racecar's weapon, drops Mega Man's racecar which causes it to land onto the track with an audible thud. Mega Man then pays attention to the track ahead and sees that Proto Man is now in front of him. Proto Man looks back at him and waves and says "Looks like you've lost this time, Little Brother!" Mega Man yells at him "Not this time, Proto Man!" and uses his racecar's newly acquired weapon to lift up his racecar and hurl it over his own racecar. Guts Man dodges the racecar. Proto Man falls out of his racecar and lands onto the track, the impact of the fall cracking his visor. His racecar falls onto the track nearby him and breaks into parts. Proto Man simply covers his face with his hands as his wrecked racecar smokes and smolders.
Meanwhile, Guts Man is trying to get past Mega Man. Cut Man comes up behind both of them. Guts Man turns to Cut Man and says "Cut Man! Help me out here, buddy!" Cut Man leers at him and says "How's this for help!?" He presses a button on his racecar's dashboard and a large pair of cutters pop out of his hood. They slowly snip. "Wh-what are you doing, Cut Man!?" Guts Man asks Cut Man. As his racecar nears Guts Man's, Cut Man yells out "Ol' Bunny Ears here is going to cut you out of the race!" Guts Man's eyes widen and he says "Cut Man, No!" Mega Man simply watches the spectacle before him. Cut Man says "It's Bunny Ears, remember!?" He then jams his racecar's cutters into Guts Man's racecar. Guts Man's racecar begins shorting out. As Cut Man passes by him, he presses another button and the cutters on the hubcaps pop out and fire into Guts Man's racecar. Guts Man's racecar is shredded into parts. Guts Man falls down hard onto the track. As he is throwing a fit, Guts Man yells out "Wily won't forgive you for this, Bunny-Cut Man!" Cut Man makes a face at him as he drives by him. Dr. Wily sees that Cut Man is now the only one racing against him. He fears that the odds are now in Mega Man's favor. Back on the tracks, Cut Man comes up next to Mega Man. Mega Man tells him "I guess it's just you and me Cut Man, huh?" Cut Man says to him "Yes, Mega Man. I'm still here to cut your victory short! Ahe ahe ahe!" Mega Man's racecar goes faster and begins to speed past Cut Man. Dr. Wily sees that Cut Man is starting to fall behind. Dr. Wily says to himself "Looks like I'll have to win the race myself!" Meanwhile, the race is now in it's final lap. Cut Man concentrates on getting past Mega Man. Dr. Wily calls up Cut Man on the dashboard's screen and tells him that he will be taking his place. Cut Man is very upset and protests "But, but, I'm still in the race! I can win this for you, Wily!" Dr. Wily tells him that he's done enough and that he will be right over. Mega Man tells Rush "Look's like our prize is coming up real soon!" Rush barks with excitement and confidence. Cut Man is behind Mega Man. He says out loud "Ahe ahe ahe! You're mine, Blue Dweeb!" He presses some buttons on his dashboard. Both the cutters on his hood and on his hubcaps pop out. He prepares to fire them, but hears a familiar sound. He looks up and sees that the Skullker is lowering onto the racetrack. Mega Man yells out "I knew that bad sportsman would try to win the race himself!" The Skullker hovers in front of Cut Man's racecar. "J-just give me a chance!" Cut Man yells out. Dr. Wily again appears on his  dashboard's windscreen and says "Sorry Cut Man, but I just can't trust you. You've been.....disqualified!" The back of the Skullker opens, and a pink beam fires out. The beam hits Cut Man's racecar and reduces it to parts. Cut Man tries to put his racecar back together and cries out "No! No! I was so close! I was so close!"
The Skullker hovers rather close to the track. Mega Man turns around and yells out "That's not a racecar, silly scientist!" Dr. Wily chuckles evilly and says "Oh, but it can be, Mega Man!" Rush is concerned and whines at Mega Man. Mega Man says to him "Guess we'll have to wait and see..." Dr. Wily presses a button on the dashboard. The Skullker, to everyone's surprise, changes into a racecar-like vehicle. It begins to pick up speed. Mega Man is concerned that the Skullker will beat him. "This doesn't look good for me!" Mega Man says to himself with great concern in his voice. In the Skullker, Dr. Wily laughs maniacally and says "The racetrack is as good as mine, Mega Man!" He presses another button on the dashboard. Jets burst out of the Skullker, causing it to go even faster. The Skullker is now right next to Mega Man's racecar. Dr. Wily waves at Mega Man. Mega Man yells out "You're not going to win that easily, Wily!" Mega Man increases his racecar's speed, but is worried that the increase in speed will either cause him to crash or cause his racecar to shut down. Dr. Wily presses yet another button on the dashboard. Large spikes come out of the tires' hubcaps. Mega Man's eyes open wider with fear. Dr. Wily looks at Mega Man with evil intent and says "On the contrary, Mega Man, you are not going to win that easily! Mwa ha ha ha ha!" Dr. Wily presses the same button again. The spikes launch out of the hubcaps. Mega Man tries to turn sharply in order to dodge the large spikes. His racecar tips over. The racecar barely dodges the large spikes. It then falls back down onto the track with a rather loud thump. Dr. Wily growls and presses another button. A long blade slowly pops out of the side of the Skullker. Mega Man panics and sees that the blade is getting closer and closer to his racecar's tires. Mega Man decides to surprise Dr. Wily and opens the top of his racecar. He sticks the upper part of his body out and fires a fully charged shot at the long blade. The blade swings back and ends up slicing through Dr. Wily's tires instead. Dr. Wily is afraid that the slashed tires will quash his victory, but the air escaping the tires gives him a surprising speed boost. He sees the finish line up ahead. Mega Man's racecar gets in front of him. Dr. Wily presses yet another button, causing spikes to pop out of the front of the Skullker. The Skullker charges forward behind Mega Man. Dr. Wily laughs maniacally and yells out "You're going to lose, Mega Man! This racetrack is now offically mine! Fair and square! Mwa ha ha ha ha!" The spikes shove into Mega Man's racecar. But the spikes push the racecar way past the finish line. Dr. Wily is extremely shocked by this sudden turn of events. His Skullker comes to a screeching halt, and its tires pop. The Skullker falls onto the ground and falls over on one side. Dr. Wily comes out of the wrecked Skullker and pounds his fists onto the side of the vehicle, having suffered a great defeat at the hands of his arch enemy once again. Dr. Wily's robots approach the Skullker and pull it away, with Dr. Wily still crying and fussing.
Back at the finish line, Mega Man gets out of his racecar and waves at the cheering crowd. Rush turns back into his normal form and does a victorious backflip. Rush then high fives Mega Man. Dr. Light and Roll run up to Mega Man and Rush and both of them hug Mega Man at the same time. Dr. Light tells Mega Man "Thanks to you and Rush, the racetrack is now in safe hands!" They go up to the winner's circle. A lady bot places the winner's wreath on Mega Man and kisses him on the cheek. This makes Roll a little bit jealous. Mega Man is handed the trophy, and the episode ends with him holding it up high and yelling out "Alright!"

Yamaha RX-V6A review: The future sound of entertainment

Yamaha RX-V6A review: The future sound of entertainment
Tumblr media
The waters around AV receivers drift rather than rage. Compared to TVs and soundbars, change comes slowly to these big black boxes. The Yamaha RX-V6A ($600 at Amazon) is a refreshing splash in a pool that has stagnated in recent years. With rounded good looks reminiscent of high-end brands like Classe, paired with a laundry list of futuristic features, this is the most forward-looking receiver I have seen in a long time.
Like
Outstanding looks (for a receiver)
Sounds engaging with music and movies
Up-to-date feature set and connections
Don’t Like
LCD display can be hard to read
No built-in Chromecast
Looks aren’t anything without the performance to back it up and the RX-6A served up great sound quality in my listening test. This midpriced receiver RX-V6A offers Dolby Atmos playback and plenty of music replay options too, making it as comfortable with an episode of The Mandalorian as it is with impromptu dance parties.
It’s got some quirks — the speaker outputs are arranged in an unusual order and that LCD display is harder to read than an LED — but overall this Yamaha is simply more fun than its competitors. I’m hopeful that the RX-V6A is the spark that ignites a rethink on AV receivers and helps bring the category back into the mainstream.

The RX-V6A is a 7.1.2-channel receiver with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X playback, and 100 watts per channel. But the specification sheet isn’t the first thing that catches the eye.

The Yamaha RX-V6A’s rounded, glass-like fascia is a real departure from the black shoe boxes of Sony, Denon and Onkyo. The edges are curved in a way I’ve never seen before, but it doesn’t look ostentatious. The front houses a centered volume control and high-res LCD display that looks smart but isn’t all that bright. It’s off-centered so if you’re sitting off to the left it’s even more difficult to read even at maximum brightness. I prefer the LED readouts found on competitors.
This receiver couldn’t be “the future” without a thoroughly up to date spec sheet and the RX-V6A doesn’t skimp. It includes seven HDMI inputs, three of which are 8K-compatible HDMI 2.1 ports ports designed to support the full output capabilities of sources like the Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5 and PC graphics cards such as the Nvidia RTX 3090. Yamaha claims this is more 2.1 ports than any other brand, and they offer such goodies as auto low latency mode and quick media switching. The receivers also support longer HDMI cable runs with a bolstered power supply.

Yamaha also made changes around back. Most receivers, including past Yamahas, place the L/R speaker output at the left of the panel, which is followed by the center and then the rears. For whatever reason the RX-V6A places the front pair in the middle instead of the left, which could be confusing — especially if you’re bent over it in a darkened theater setting. It won’t take long to remember which output is which, and once you get your speakers connected it’s not a big deal.
The RX-V6A may not be as fully loaded when it comes to Wi-Fi streaming support when compared to our current Editors’ Choice winner, the Onkyo TX-NR696, but it still offers something for most people. Yamaha’s MusicCast multiroom system is one of the best integrated systems, and it also enables the use of Yamaha smart speakers as rears. The receiver offers AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect and Bluetooth too, although it lacks Chromecast built-in. IT can be controlled via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri-enabled devices, but the commands are mostly basic — mainly volume, input and next/previous track controls.

The receiver comes with a remote control that offers a variety of functions, including a dedicated Bluetooth button. It’s bright and cheery plus offers a zone 2 control switch for more flexibility.
Though the aesthetics have been soundly improved, the on-screen display is a small step back. The interface features blocky white and blue icons, whereas competitors such as Sony offer more user-friendly interfaces with bigger icons and better hand-holding for newcomers.

This is the future of sound
I compared the Yamaha RX-V6A against another new receiver, the Denon AVR-S960, and found myself returning to listen to the Yamaha more often. While the Denon is relaxed-sounding, the Yamaha offers more home theater thrills and pep when listening to your favorite tunes. Simply put, the Yamaha sounds more fun.
I started my testing with an underrated classic — the Iron and Wine/Calexico collaboration EP, In The Reins. When streaming via Roon to the Oppo UDP-203 ($3,999 at Amazon) and then letting the receivers decode, the Yamaha had a solid, three dimensional sound. Through it Sam Beam’s voice was more firmly rooted in space, and the backing vocals a little easier to discern than on the Denon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ty Pendlebury/CNET
Receivers that are tuned for movies are rarely good with music — they can sound overly harsh and tiring — but the tambourine-forward sound of Spoon’s You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb sounded fuller on the Yamaha than the Denon. The song’s chugging bass underpinned the percussion in the hands of the V6A and the entire production sounded less thrashy and more composed. The Denon was a shade subtler but didn’t make me sit up in my seat in the same way.
Turning to home theater with Avatar, the Yamaha driving a pair of Bowers and Wilkins 603 S2 speakers sounded bigger and more effortless than any soundbar I’ve heard. The opening dialog of the Thanator chase scene was more intelligible too, and certainly better than the JBL Bar 2.1 Deep Bass ($300 at Amazon) soundbar, for example. It may not have had the same booming effect on the creatures’ footfalls, but this was easily tweaked via the Yamaha menu.
After that tweak the Yamaha had bass effects I could actually feel with my feet and, compared to the Denon, I found it sounded more atmospheric, but the bass still wasn’t as impactful.
Should you buy it?
If you’re trying to decide between the Yamaha and the Denon, both sound quality and features come into play. The Yamaha offers an extra HDMI port than the Denon and more 8K-compliant 2.1 ports too. The RX-V6A also looks better and sounds more entertaining.
The receiver didn’t get everything right — that LCD display is a misstep — and I still prefer the Onkyo by a nose because of its superior streaming options and better display. While there are more receivers coming in mid-2021, if you want something that offers a degree of future proofing and high-quality sound right now, the Yamaha is an excellent choice.

Realme TV 43-inch Review
Realme, a smartphone maker that emerged from OPPO’s shadow, has achieved a lot in the last two years. In fact, riding on aggressively priced and well-specced products, it even managed to break into the top ten global smartphone brands in a very short time span. In the next chapter, this born-in-India Chinese company is rapidly expanding into consumer technology and smart home products.
After a few hiccups (pandemic induced), the Realme TVs went official in June and we have been testing the Realme TV 43-inch for the last month. Curious to find out more about the first-ever Realme Smart TV? Hop on as we take you through our experience in this detailed Realme TV 43-inch review:
Tumblr media
Realme TV 43-inch review: Build and Design
With its first-ever SmartTV, Realme hasn’t tried to pull off any fancy stunt and has kept things simple – and that’s good. Remember how the unconventional stand (that made the entire TV wobble on high volume) and the distinctive remote on the first OnePlus TV backfired?
Anyways, The Realme 43-inch Smart TV is a reasonably slim tv with narrow bezels. The TV measures 8 cm from sides and weighs about 6.7kgs (excluding stand). The build is certainly not premium but the plastic used doesn’t feel flimsy either.
Tumblr media
The bezels on three sides are extremely narrow and there’s a recessed lip housing official branding, IR receiver, and a power button and indicator. There is a narrow gap between the display panel and bottom bezel where lint and dirt accumulated over time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A standard tabletop stand comes bundled with the TV, while the wall mount is sold separately. You may buy one from the TV installation team or buy a standard mount from any local store.
The back panel has air vents at the bottom to disperse heat generated by TV’s internal. There are bottom-firing speakers on either side along with a tweeter for crisp vocals. The TV is rated to deliver 24W audio output.
Tumblr media
Overall Realme has managed to build a robust Smart TV considering the price. We don’t have any major design-related complaints. Our only gripe is that many ports are downward facing and should be difficult to access when the TV is wall mounted (more on this in a bit).
Realme TV 43-inch Review: Connectivity & I/O
Realme TV includes a decent set of input and output ports. On this, 43-inch Smart TV you get:
3x HDMI ports out
HDMI ARC support on HDMI 1 port
CEC is supported on HDMI 1 and HDMI 3 only
two USB 2.0 ports
a SPDIF port for digital audio out
one Antenna port
one LAN port
a headphone jack
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Realme fixed an HDMI port, headphone jack, Digital Audio port, and the two USB ports on the left side, while all other reaming ports including two HDMI ports are stacked at the bottom and face downwards. Accessing all these ports takes extra effort on a wall-mounted TV. Surprisingly, the TV comes with a fixed power cord.
As for connectivity, the 43-inch Realme TV includes a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi support and Bluetooth 5.0. A dual-band Wi-Fi would have been ideal. Anyhow, our first love will always be LAN port which thankfully Realme includes on this TV.
It also comes with built-in Chromecast and Miracast as well as wireless display support for Windows. We didn’t face any issues with the built-in Chromecast.
Realme TV 43 Review: Remote Control
One again Realme has made a sensible decision by not trying to anything fancy. Realme Smart TV remote follows airfoil design keeping it compact and ergonomic. The arched back with a bottom-heavy design ensures a firm grip. There are dedicated hotkeys to access Netflix, Youtube, Prime Videos, and Google Assistant.
Tumblr media
The remote can communicate with the TV via IR or Bluetooth. The latency is far less with Bluetooth. If you connect with Bluetooth, you can also find out battery levels. The Realme TV remote uses two AAA batteries. To check battery levels, you have to navigate to Accessories settings.
Realme TV 43-inch Review: Hardware and Software
The TV is competently specced when compared to other available options in the same budget. It is driven by a quad-core MediaTek MSD6683 chipset featuring four ARM Cortex A53 cores and Mali-470 MP3 GPU onboard. It comes with a 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Following the industry trend, Realme has also dished out its Android TV-based UI here. The TV runs on Android Pie and comes with most of the popular OTT apps pre-installed.
Tumblr media
Realme has tried to keep things simple by keeping the interface close to stock. There’s Google Playstore TV edition on board so that one can download apps on the TV. There’s Google Assistant onboard too but it’s not as agile and takes a couple of seconds to kick in. The TV has some software-based enhancements like DNR for smoothing of visual noise, adaptive luma control, etc.
Realme has managed to optimize software and hardware well enough. The interface runs smoothly but is not particularly snappy. The occasional stutters creep up when limited memory runs out. This only happens when you try to push it by switching between apps quickly.
Realme TV 43-inch Review: Display
Now, let’s discuss out the single biggest thing on this TV – display. It’s a 43-inch LED-backlit VA LCD panel that delivers full HD resolution pictures. The panel is bright and manages to deliver better contrast levels than IPS panels offered by the competition in the same segment.
Tumblr media
Surprisingly, the panel is not very reflective. Realme claims 400nits of brightness which plays an important part in cutting down screen glares.
Realme TV delivers the most pleasing view experience when you aline your self from the center of the screen at least 3 feet away. Having said that, the TV has 178º wide viewing angles which we don’t see very often on VA panel. But Yes, there is slight colour shifts as you move towards extreme angles.
The TV has an edge-lit panel without any local dimming support. Like most TVs in this budget, this one too doesn’t have much too boast about when it comes to grey uniformity.
Tumblr media
That said, the Realme TV screen offers a satisfactory viewing experience, especially if you factor in its pricing. The picture quilty of Realme 43-inch TV is comparable to (or perhaps even better than) offerings from VU, Xiaomi, MarQ, and Nokia by Flipkart, etc. During this review, we tested content through DTH feed, pre-installed apps, and Fire TV Stick 4K (review).
The full-HD content on Realme TV looked crisp and well detailed. As for picture tuning, Realme has tried to implement its learning from its work on Smartphone displays. The TV has something called the Realme Chroma Boost engine to enhance colors.
Tumblr media
From Ozark on Netflix to Breath Season 2 on Amazon Prime, we have been consuming content on this TV for a month now. Netflix app and Youtube were able to decode HDR content for playback even though the TV doesn’t have HDR certification resulting in a slightly better dynamic range (but do not expect a proper HDR experience).
Amazon Prime Video app doesn’t go beyond HD. The colours and overall dynamic range were off and I hope Realme And Amazon teams will be able to fix this soon.
Another area where Realme needs improvement is upscaling. HD to FHD upscaling is good enough, but SD content isn’t upscaled properly even when compared against affordable TVs in the same segment.
Realme TV 43 Review: Audio
Sound has been one of the biggest pain points in TVs over the years more so in the budget segment. Well, Realme does get it right. It has deployed a four-speaker system including two full-range speakers and two tweeters for crisp vocals. It delivers a combined output of 24W which is loud both and crisp. It also has Dolby Audio support but expecting a Dolby Atmos experience from TV will be too much to ask.
The audio is much better than what we have experienced on other affordable Xiaomi and VU TVs.
Tumblr media
Realme TV 43 Review Verdict
Realme’s very first attempt hits the right chords. Yes, Realme has cut some corners and that is understandable and acceptable for the budget price. Basics like display, audio quality, connectivity, and app support are handled better than what we usually get with TVs in this price segment.
There are some glitches that we hope Realme will iron out via OTA updates or in future versions. But at the price of Rs. 21,999, we can certainly recommend the Realme TV 43-inch as an option.
Pros
Decent Display quality
Great set of I/O and connectivity options
Full HD content playback
Audio performance better than peers
Cons
No 5GHz Wifi support
SD to HD upscaling
Minor bugs in software

OnePlus Bullish on Launching 5G Phone in India, Exporting 5G Phones From India
Just days after bringing the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro, OnePlus is now optimistic to launch a 5G phone in India. The Shenzhen-based company that entered the Indian market with the OnePlus One back in December 2014 has so far launched 13 smartphone models in the country — with four offerings arrived in 2019 alone. It also earlier this year unveiled the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G model for the global markets that didn’t enter India but has been showcased at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) in New Delhi. Apart from the plans to launch its 5G phone in the country, OnePlus is looking forward to exporting new 5G phones from its India facility.
“We are very bullish, and we are trying to be an early leader and try to support the ecosystem,” OnePlus India General Manager Vikas Agarwal told Gadgets 360 in a one-on-one conversation in New Delhi. “So from our side, the 5G devices are ready. We are already testing them with all the leading ecosystem players in the country — be it a technology provider or an operator.”
At IMC 2019, OnePlus is demonstrating a lightning-fast 5G connectivity experience through the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. The company has leveraged the equipment set up by Ericsson and Nokia to give a glimpse at what we would get through 5G. Nevertheless, it is hoping to bring a similar experience to the masses sometime next year.
“The focus is on when the commercial rollout can happen,” said Agarwal. “Once we have those details, we’ll be happy to launch our 5G products. So, next year, we hope that something will be ready and we will be able to launch and the sooner we do it, the better it is.”
OnePlus isn’t the only smartphone company that has put its 5G phone for showcasing at the IMC this year. There are handsets from manufacturers such as LG, Oppo, and Vivo as well. Agarwal, however, pointed out that OnePlus considered India as “one of its biggest markets” for 5G and had been testing its development with key telcos, namely Airtel and Reliance Jio, for almost over a year.
“We’ll make sure that our device works with all the networks and will be working with all the network partners closely,” the executive said.
Although the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G has been used for the initial testing and demonstration, Agarwal confirmed to Gadgets 360 that the company doesn’t want to bring the old model to the Indian market just for the sake of offering 5G to customers.
“As a company, we strongly focus on bringing the latest technology and not the outdated one,” he said. “So we’ll see what Qualcomm launches — [it] typically [announces its] future products in December. So let’s wait and see what [it has] for the next year.”
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau at the sidelines of the OnePlus 7T series launch in London earlier this month had suggested that the OnePlus 8 series would debut with 5G support in 2020. Lau had also indicated that the India launch of the 5G-supported OnePlus 8 series would be delayed due to lack of 5G networks in the country. However, Agarwal hinted at the other way around and emphasised that despite the absence of 5G from the operator side, there might be a customer base that wants a future-proof device would pick a 5G device ahead of 5G rollout.
Qualcomm India Vice President Rajen Vagadia also believes what Agarwal underlined.
“This time around it would happen that the devices will come before the network is here,” Vagadia told Gadgets 360 in a separate interaction at the IMC. “So, if you’re buying a device and somebody tells you that 5G is coming in another three months, you typically may end up thinking, okay, let’s wait for 5G because you’re investing your money.”
Tumblr media
Various smartphone makers showcase their 5G smartphones at IMC 2019
In addition to launching its 5G phone in India, OnePlus is planning to utilise its manufacturing facility in the country to start exporting 5G phones.
“The manufacturing plans are really a function of the kind of incentives that you have, the kind of capacity you have, the kind of readiness from exporting from India,” stated Agarwal. “So as soon as all these things are in place, we will be looking at exporting from India for all the markets.”
Back in late August, OnePlus opened its R&D centre in Hyderabad and announced its plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the facility over the next three years. The R&D centre is helping the company bring its 5G developments for the global markets. The company is also aiming to bring new talent to the centre by expanding the existing headcount of about 250 people to thousand to 1,500 people by next year, Agarwal revealed.
Pilot 5G zones, IoT focus
To bolster the demonstration of its ongoing developments and to let consumers experience 5G, OnePlus has pilot 5G zones in plans that would be available offline in select cities.
“As a concept, this idea, we have evaluated and we are keen to do it,” said Agarwal. “We are right now trying to figure out equally committed network and telecom partner because to support a 5G device, you need a network partner, you need a technology partner, and then you need a smartphone. We are ready. We are essentially waiting for the remaining two partners who also commit for this kind of development.”
OnePlus is additionally exploring opportunities to go beyond smartphones and get expanded in the market of smart home devices. The company last month launched the OnePlus TV as its first smart TV model, which could serve as a hub to its future Internet of Things (IoT) developments.
“We are betting big on smart home experience,” asserted Agarwal. “But unlike other brands, we don’t want to launch every smart home device. “We want to focus on the critical pieces that will enable the entire smart home experience and TV is one such product because it can be the master device that will actually control the entire smart home experience.”
Since OnePlus is yet to announce its 5G-focussed plans publicly, market analysts have mixed opinions.
Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CyberMedia, thinks that OnePlus would be able to deliver exceptional consumer experiences, including gaming and entertainment, through the promise of 5G. “With its 5G capable devices, OnePlus is ahead of the curve, just in time for the onset of the 5G cycle in India,” he stated.
Counterpoint Research Associate Director Tarun Pathak, on the other hand, said that with India remaining a key market, OnePlus would plan to launch its 5G phone as soon as 5G networks go live in the country or even slightly ahead.
“5G is going to be a key differentiator in the premium segment as hardware innovation hits the plateau at a time when users are holding on to their devices for a longer period,” Pathak told Gadgets 360. “In such a scenario it becomes very important for a brand like OnePlus which has a leaner portfolio to remain ahead of the competition when it comes to 5G devices.”
IDC Asia-Pacific Senior Research Manager Kiranjeet Kaur presumed that OnePlus might launch some models with 5G-only SKUs, and countries like India would get those models even if they lack a 5G network. “As long as the performance, battery, price etc. are on par with 4G phones, consumers may be more inclined to buy the 5G phone instead,” she noted.
However, Pathak of Counterpoint Research underlined that since the next rollout of 5G networks in India looks tight, it might be a post-2020 thing for OnePlus.
Faisal Kawoosa, Founder and Principal Analyst, techARC, believes that showcasing of a 5G phone at an industry event like IMC would be to give that assurance to the ecosystem that it’s geared for 5G and that it has done adequately.
“5G will not make smartphones sell at the moment. It is nice to have this element in purchase especially for the segment it [OnePlus] caters to as it sort of future readies the investments consumers will make in a smartphone,” he added.

Oppo confirms a smart TV is on the roadmap as it celebrates 1 year of 5G in China
Oppo has been rumored to be developing a smart TV at least since Christmas and we now have some concrete proof of those plans. On its official Weibo page, the company published an infographic celebrating 1 year of commercial 5G efforts in China. We thought that it was 1 November last year when that kicked off, but Oppo may have something else in mind and even so that little discrepancy is beside the point.
Down at the very bottom of the rather long image, there’s a stylized depiction of a TV in a grid of pictured existing products.
Oppo infographic chopped into more easily digestible pieces, TV in last image
Sister company Realme recently released a couple of smart TVs in India powered by Android TV and featuring Google Assistant. Priced very competitively, they could be a soak test before Oppo’s own foray into the field.
Oppo unveiled a set of truly wireless earphones, the Enco W51 the other day. Alongside them, the Oppo Band made a debut as well. Both of these devices are featured there in the infographic next to the TV’s placeholder, but the TV itself is yet to make an appearance.
Meanwhile, Nokia of all companies launched a smart TV as well, two days ago too. Apparently, smartphone companies can’t afford to not be making TVs anymore.

What is Huawei HarmonyOS or HongMengOS or OakOS ?
Of course, the OS is one of the main components of any smart device, providing its functionality and correct operation in various modes. Therefore, many choose a smartphone taking into account the capabilities of its OS. Accordingly, all smartphone manufacturers pay great attention to this aspect. More recently, companies mainly used Android, Apple iOS, Windows Phone, Symbian, etc. But after the discontinuation of support for Windows Phone and Symbian, their list was reduced to Android and iOS. The share of other operating systems, including Bada, Palm OS, Open WebOS, Maemo, etc is too insignificant. At the same time, Android is clearly ahead of its main competitor due to the huge number of various smart devices running under this OS. Moreover, in 2019, Google introduced the new Android 10.
EMUI (Emotion UI)
Usually, Google develops a new version, downloads its source code for free, and releases an update for its Pixel smartphones. After that, each manufacturer can take a new free Android version from Google and use it on their smartphone, including after editing. In practice, all major manufacturers are developing their own interface for Android, including UX (LG), One UI (Samsung), MIUI (Xiaomi), etc. Huawei was no exception and developed EMUI (Emotion UI) based on Android. In fairness, many users prefer to get rid of it by installing a "clean" Android from Google. Since 2012, Huawei regularly offers new EMUI versions. 2019 was no exception. At IFA 2019, the company introduced EMUI 10 for Android 10. Today it's already available for most Huawei models, including the flagship P20, Pro, P30 Pro, Mate 20 Pro, etc. This version uses a magazine style with large headlines, an enlarged font, a clear grid layout of icons, etc. In addition, the design uses the “Morandi color palette” (Giorgio Morandi - Italian painter) in pastel colors, instead of the traditional blue, white and black colors. Additionally, EMUI 10 supports third-party icon rendering using the adaptive Huawei mask, providing a consistent display style. The new desktop in EMUI 10 uses an increased scale with a grid of 4 x 6 icons. In general, EMUI 10 proportionally optimizes all aspects of the interface, including displaying notifications, settings menu, dark theme, animation, camera interface, etc.
HarmonyOS (Oak OS or HongMeng OS in China)
As known, the company began developing the HarmonyOS in 2017. Initially, version 1.0 was focused on IoT (Internet of Things). Today the company promises to introduce the v2.0 microkernel (μ-kernel) in 2020. Then, in 2021, Huawei plans to introduce a third version with enhanced device support. HarmonyOS v1.0 uses the Linux kernel in conjunction with its own μ-kernel. But in the future, perhaps starting with v2.0, the company is considering leaving only its own μ-kernel. Of course, US government sanctions against Huawei substantially adjusted the plans of the Chinese giant. The threat of restricting access to Android services provoked the company to accelerate the development of its own OS. As a result, at the Developers Conference 2019, Huawei introduced its own new HarmonyOS for smart devices, including smartphones. Of course, HarmonyOS is fully compatible with the Android apps that Huawei has been developing since 2012. However, Huawei has repeatedly denied rumors about the rejection of the super-popular Android. Apparently, the company uses HarmonyOS as insurance in case of conflict escalation. Nevertheless, smartphones with this OS have already been introduced. Under certain circumstances, Android and iOS may soon face a very serious competitor. In December, the company introduced the first Honor Vision TVs running Harmony OS in China.
General information
HarmonyOS uses TTE (Trusted Execution Environment) with the protected CPU data. As known, TTE guarantees the protection of code and data, ensuring absolute confidentiality. In fact, the OS is a microkernel with a large number of modules for each device type, taking into account their application scenarios. This solution significantly increases the OS efficiency, increasing the speed of information processing by about 30%. Of course, the company guarantees the correct operation of all apps, regardless of the device type. Additionally, open source allows programmers to use any programming language, ensuring its compatibility with any OS. Differences from EMUI include a new boot animation, advanced customization, screen settings using widgets, lock screen settings, etc. Huawei used the Mate 30 for internal OS testing. Thus, the Huawei Mate 30 could be the first series based on the Harmony OS. In addition to smartphones, Huawei plans to use Harmony in TVs, PCs, laptops, smart watches and bracelets. In fact, the company plans to create a smart series similar to LG's TwinQ. Of course, its primary implementation will take place in the Chinese market. But management also noted the company's ability to adapt all its products to HarmonyOS if necessary in just two days.
Key Features
- free distribution; - great compatibility. Unlike Android, Huawei Harmony OS uses a microkernel similar to Google Fuchsia OS. This guarantees its versatility, ensuring compatibility with any device type; - instant installation on all Huawei devices. Unfortunately, Harmony does not support Android apps by default and require the use of, for example, Huawei's ARK compiler; - at the first stage, Huawei plans Harmony OS only for devices in the Chinese market; - open source opens up good prospects for cooperation in the development of a new OS with OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi; - own app store (Huawei AppGallery instead of Google Play and Huawei Mobile Services instead of Google Play Services); - higher performance. Unlike Linux cores with a relatively large amount of code, microkernels have a smaller amount of common code and provide faster communication between system components; - privacy protection with TTE; - no root access. As known, Root access is authorization to execute any command and access any resource on a device. Of course, this solution has pros and cons. Experience using this option for Android has demonstrated: PROS - allows the superuser to delete any pre-installed apps, change screensavers, limit Internet traffic, delete ads in apps, etc; - control of energy consumption. For example, some programs adjust the speed of CPU cores, slowing them down to reduce energy consumption without sacrificing performance; - the ability to overclock with the appropriate utilities. Of course, CPU must support the ability to work at higher frequencies. Cons - problems with a guarantee; - blocks the automatic updates due to custom recovery; - lack of licensed content, support for payment systems and banking apps; - significantly reduces protection against viruses; - rewriting internal memory, changing partitions, etc increase the risk of its failure.
Conclusion
According to the company, their system is faster than Android and iOS by about 60%, but this difference seems very high. Of course, today any predictions about the prospects of the new OS seem premature. Probably, Harmony OS has good prospects to become a new OS in the segment of smart devices, complementing Android and iOS. In this case, it will be able to take the place of Windows Phone and Symbian in the future. But the debugging process of the new universal ambitious OS is unlikely to be fast because of the task complexity. Unfortunately, the aggravation of trade confrontation can radically accelerate this process to the detriment of its quality. But consumers are unlikely to benefit from the emergence of a new OS with a traditionally large number of problems in the first stage. On the contrary, such a scenario can cause great damage to the reputation of this promising operating system. The video offers an overview of Huawei HarmonyOS. Read the full article

Google rolls out Android 11 for OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo and Realme flagships
After four developer previews of features and fixes, the stable build of Android 11 is finally here. Though Google rolled out it to Pixel devices initially, it’s said to be coming to few more handsets from other OEMs like Oppo, Xiaomi, Realme and OnePlus. Google introduced many privacy-focused and easy conversation features in the latest Android 11.
Android 11 Comes to Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme and OnePlus Phones
Ever since Google released the first developer preview of Android 11 back in July this year, it has been revamped with new features that make it easier for conversing, having more control over your privacy, an inbuilt screen recorder and bringing all smart settings one panel. While this has been applauded, it’s was available to only a few Pixel devices until today.
And with the official launch of Android 11, it’s rolling out to few more high-end phones of several OEMs like Oppo, Xiaomi, OnePlus and Realme. As per Verge’s report, Oppo’s X2 and Reno 3 are about to receive the stable Android 11 build. Also, the Realme X50 Pro, OnePlus 8 and 8, Mi 10 and 10 Pro will be getting this latest software along with Pixel 2, 3, 3A, 4 and 4A.

All these phones are testing their OS based on Android 11 beta till date. The new OS focuses on making the regular works on our phone easier than feeding new features. This is like introducing dedicating a conversation section in the notification panel for all your chats, Facebook’s Messenger-like chat bubbles hovering over the screen etc.
Also, Android 11 is made to integrate well with most of the smart devices in our home today, thus, Google set all the controls of those connected devices in a new section which can appear when user press and hold the power button. Further, it enhanced the power of controlling data privacy in Android 11, whereby the software forces every app to ask for permissions every time they’re opened, and can be set for short span as user desired.

We are already testing them with all the leading ecosystem players in the country — be it a technology provider or an operator.” At IMC 2019, OnePlus is demonstrating a lightning-fast 5G connectivity experience through the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. So, next year, we hope that something will be ready and we will be able to launch and the sooner we do it, the better it is.” OnePlus isn’t the only smartphone company that has put its 5G phone for showcasing at the IMC this year. So let’s wait and see what [it has] for the next year.” OnePlus CEO Pete Lau at the sidelines of the OnePlus 7T series launch in London earlier this month had suggested that the OnePlus 8 series would debut with 5G support in 2020. “So, if you’re buying a device and somebody tells you that 5G is coming in another three months, you typically may end up thinking, okay, let’s wait for 5G because you’re investing your money.” Various smartphone makers showcase their 5G smartphones at IMC 2019   In addition to launching its 5G phone in India, OnePlus is planning to utilise its manufacturing facility in the country to start exporting 5G phones. “The manufacturing plans are really a function of the kind of incentives that you have, the kind of capacity you have, the kind of readiness from exporting from India,” stated Agarwal. “So as soon as all these things are in place, we will be looking at exporting from India for all the markets.” Back in late August, OnePlus opened its R&D centre in Hyderabad and announced its plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore in the facility over the next three years. The R&D centre is helping the company bring its 5G developments for the global markets. The company is also aiming to bring new talent to the centre by expanding the existing headcount of about 250 people to thousand to 1,500 people by next year, Agarwal revealed. Pilot 5G zones, IoT focus To bolster the demonstration of its ongoing developments and to let consumers experience 5G, OnePlus has pilot 5G zones in plans that would be available offline in select cities. “As a concept, this idea, we have evaluated and we are keen to do it,” said Agarwal. “We are right now trying to figure out equally committed network and telecom partner because to support a 5G device, you need a network partner, you need a technology partner, and then you need a smartphone. We are ready. We are essentially waiting for the remaining two partners who also commit for this kind of development.” OnePlus is additionally exploring opportunities to go beyond smartphones and get expanded in the market of smart home devices. The company last month launched the OnePlus TV as its first smart TV model, which could serve as a hub to its future Internet of Things (IoT) developments. “We are betting big on smart home experience,” asserted Agarwal. “But unlike other brands, we don’t want to launch every smart home device. “We want to focus on the critical pieces that will enable the entire smart home experience and TV is one such product because it can be the master device that will actually control the entire smart home experience.” Since OnePlus is yet to announce its 5G-focussed plans publicly, market analysts have mixed opinions. “In such a scenario it becomes very important for a brand like OnePlus which has a leaner portfolio to remain ahead of the competition when it comes to 5G devices.” IDC Asia-Pacific Senior Research Manager Kiranjeet Kaur presumed that OnePlus might launch some models with 5G-only SKUs, and countries like India would get those models even if they lack a 5G network.
