How I think Meg would react to the other 11 Olympians:
This was originally on Discord in a convo between Chronic and me :3
Zeus: Would have zero (0) respect for him. I think she would be able to read between the lines and see that Zeus & Apollo have a...complicated relationship, perhaps enough to figure out the parallels between them and her & Nero.
Hera: Honestly I don't really think Meg would be that intimated by her? Maybe put off a little by her cold exterior but if she sees how Apollo acts around her she'd probably just follow his lead and dunk on her with him
Poseidon: ??? Zero clue what would happen here.
Demeter: agree with u Meg would be a little wary of Demeter.
Athena: Perhaps a bit intimated? Athena's a very reserved person who keeps her cards close to her chest, while Meg prefers to get to the point and start stabbing problems away. Athena's whole deal may make Meg wary of her, perhaps even a bit distrustful because of how secretive she is.
Ares: I wonder if she would be equally affected by Ares's whole "fight aura" as Percy is so she may get a little aggressive with him, but Ares would probably find it funny though i would like to direct his attention to the last time a twelve year old got aggressive with him lol
Hephaestus: I think they'd be pretty chill. Probably don't interact much because Hephaestus isn't really a people-person and Meg's kinda reserved too. Maybe they'd bond over some type of machine-plant invention that makes Apollo go oh no
Aphrodite: Hmm...I think she may be slightly disturbed by Aphrodite's whole "I play with your love life because I like you so much!" thing. She'd take one look and go "you fucked up Apollo's life because you like him?????" Meg's blunt personality probably wouldn't mix the best with Aphrodite's guile and subtly.
Hermes: She wouldn't like him lol summons the wall lizard I just don't see Meg really liking Hermes all that much? Though I don't know why? Just the vibe I get from her
Artemis: Mutual inner jealousy beloved haha. I think Meg would be a bit jealous/resentful of Artemis because of how much she takes Apollo for granted. Meanwhile, Artemis is jealous that Apollo "prefers" Meg's and Athena's company over hers even though her company usually involves her badgering him...tragic twins beloved. She's a huntress - she's territorial. When someone encroaches on her territory, she gets growly.
Dionysus: She'd like him lol. As seen in ToN, Dionysus likes messing with Apollo (in a good way) and she likes messing with Apollo (in a good way). They'd get along like a house on fire and Apollo fears this alliance (though is secretly pleased)

another updated altar photo! i managed to get my Lord Zeus statue back on my tiny, tiny shelf and i’m so happy that i lit two blue candles for Him. i also took off my spirit board because she needs rest from being the foundation of so much energy. i added my greek alphabet oracle stones and my runes. i also added my stack of tarot that i draw my daily card from so i always spend time with my altar everyday. it’s nice having all of my divination methods on my altar now (pelduim, oracle, tarot, and runes) and im excited i’ll be able to spend yule without worrying about school since classes end two weeks before the 21st!

consider that the reason the popular, powerful oracles are so powerful (Oracle of Delphi, Oracle of Dodona) is that they combine both chthonic (Gaia, Python) and ouranic (Zeus, Apollo) prophecy, as well as being SUPER SUPER old.

„But when he [Apollo] came and sent Themis, the child of Earth, away from the holy oracle of Pytho, Earth gave birth to dream visions of the night; and they told to the cities of men the present, and what will happen in the future, through dark beds of sleep on the ground; and so Earth took the office of prophecy away from Phoebus, in envy, because of her daughter. The lord made his swift way to Olympus and wound his baby hands around the throne of Zeus, to take the wrath of the earth goddess from the Pythian home. Zeus smiled, that the child so quickly came to ask for worship that pays in gold. He shook his locks of hair, to put an end to the night voices, and took away from mortals the truth that appears in darkness, and gave the privilege back again to Loxias, and to mortals confidence in the songs of prophecy at the throne visited by many men.” (Euripides, Iphigenia in Tauris)

Scariest thing to hear in mythology:
"You're more beautiful than Aphrodite"
"And along came Zeus"
"Hera is coming"
"I'm going to go see the oracle"

Reading The Hidden Oracle: Chapter 37 (SPOILERS)
"Percy leaped heroically from his mount and slipped in hellhound pee." Heroic entrance right here.
"Apollo, did you do this?" "I am offended! . . . I am only indirectly responsible for this!" I love their banter.
"I need a few more minutes to enchant this arrow." "Of course you do." Cut him some slack, he's still getting the hang of this whole hero thing.
"I had to admit Percy Jackson was moderately impressive." :/ ? Least reliable narrator I've ever seen.
"This time, the words came to me." Wait, so the plague chant actually isn't PLAGUEY, PLAGUEY, PLAGUEY? This is a massive disappointment. I don't think I'll recover. Also, that Styx punishment really didn't last long. The River's going soft.
"sneezed so hard he collapsed." Uh oh.
"FIE! TOO STRONG IS THY PLAGUE." FIE (exclamation): used to express disgust or outrage
"Kayla, be careful. Don't breathe--" "ACHOO!" Oh no.
"MOREO'ER, HIE!" I hate this fucking arrow. HIE (v.): go quickly
"Somehow, I managed to react appropriately. (Three cheers for reacting appropriately!)" I- Wins where you can take 'em, I suppose.
"you and Harley take Kayla and Austin to the Apollo cabin for healing." "But they are the Apollo cabin" VALID concern. Will's gonna be overworked again. Who's gonna heal everyone? Don't any campers other than the Apollo ones learn healing? People are dying left and right; you'd think other campers would learn medicine.
"Perhaps if we got some harpies and some kite string..." He's really desperate if he's suggesting that.
"I'm a stupid ugly mortal teenager! I'm nobody!" Is he throwing a tantrum? "I thought for sure . . . The cosmos would stop turning. Percy and Chiron would rush to reassure me. None of that happened . . . 'You're Apollo. We need you. You can do this. Besides, if you don't, I will personally throw you off the top of the Empire State Building.'" My friend compared this scene to the one in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where the four turtles are about to be crushed to death in the Labyrinth maze and Leo[nardo Hamato, not -nidas Valdez], who is the only one who can get them out by making a portal, first pouts at them to ask for a self-esteem boost. Something like "Y'know, it would really help me out if you told me I'm your champion" because the whole point of the Labyrinth was to get to the center and become a "champion" and receive world-class pizza (that episode was freakishly reminiscent of how PJO characters often end up beating their villains of the week). Yes, my friend and I frequently miscommunicate which Leo we are talking about when we discuss fandom stuff.
"just the sort of thing Zeus used to say to me before my soccer matches." Yeesh, never a good thing to be compared to Zeus, but the throw-you-off-a-building threat was deserved. Also, I think Rhea might not be the only one mixing up their centuries.
"a monument to my own conceit. Nero's pride was no more than a reflection of mine." A character development moment! Yes!
"The demigods were getting very good at scattering." I bet they've had a lot of practice, what with all the attacks on their only safe haven over the years.
"a gust of wind caught it... perhaps Zephyros" Yeah!!! That's good. It would've been too hard to believe if Apollo made that shot naturally. A bit soon to call Zephyros awesome, though, since this is just making up for the murder he committed, but good on him for helping avoid the deaths of dozens of small children.
"like a pachinko machine." I know what you're all thinking: "What's the difference between pachinko and pinball?" That's what I'm here to answer. According to Google, pachinko is an upright, vertical version of pinball that uses multiple small balls as opposed to pinball's singular, larger ball.
"geysers of motor oil out his ears" NOOOO! Not the harbor! Oh man, the beach naiads are gonna be so sick after this. Do beach naiads exist? If not, the beach animals and plants are gonna be sick. This is the third geyser we've seen this book and by far the worst.
"a case of hay fever . . . the statue's head achieved first-stage separation from his body." Deadliest case of hay fever I've seen yet. Hey, if it works, it works.
"Then the air blooped out of its neck hole" Blooped was pretty far down on the list of verbs I expected to see in this book. Next time I'll be more open-minded and prepared for verbs of all variety.

Perazel ~ Repeating Mythology [Perseus and Andromeda]
Tumblr media
Hazel's mother had say her last injure to the gods. At least that's what Hazel hoped, but knowing her, even her daughter's death wouldn't stop the queen from mocking goddesses to flatter herself.
The princess was now waiting for the death that was to come from the sea monster who had been terrorizing her city since then. A sacrifice to appease the gods. When the oracle predicted her that a descendant of Poseidon would change her life, that wasn't what she had expected.
But neither did she expected the prince that would stand between her and the creature, neither the head with hair of snakes that he was brandishing after telling her to close her eyes.
But when she opened them again, what caught her eyes wasn't the gigantic statue standing where the sea monster once was, it was this hero's hand outstretched in her direction, ready to lead her toward two beautiful horses.
Finally, she felt safe.

I'm reading Apollo's wiki right now and can i just say what a GREAT dad he is?
Like he teaches his kids archery, medicine, and about prophecy. Some he mentors into seers.
Some aren't even HIS BIOLOGICAL CHILDREN (hello, Chiron!) and he STILL TEACHES THEM and TREATS THEM LIKE HIS KIDS.
what a great dad

In the plural, themis can also mean “oracles.” This makes sense, because oracles tell humans what the gods (or fate) have established for them. This idea is reflected by some of Themis’ roles in myth as well – not only is she connected with the Delphic Oracle, but she foretells Thetis’ fate, informs Prometheus about what will happen and is often called the mother of the Moirai, goddesses who determine each person’s destiny at the moment he or she is born, for example. She is worshipped at one of the oracles dedicated to Gaea and at the Oracle of Dodona and an oracle of Zeus at Olympia as well (Pindar, Isthmian 8.30–45; Aeschylus, Prometheus Bound 209–10; Pausanias 5.14.10; Dakaris 1971: 52–3; Parke 1967b: 180).
