i love that the show gives reasons for the trio to wind up in places they shouldn't be in---because kids are smart, a lot of times smarter than adults because they're not tempted by dr*gs and alc*hol and s*x. plus these kids have pretty much been raised to be cautious and fearful. it is very twelve-year-old and very ADHD of them to get distracted by the lotus hotel and the arch like in the books, but it's also very twelve-year-old and very ADHD of them to be super anxious about the quest working out and not letting themselves get easily distracted

Percy and Annabeth being really obnoxious when Grover prepares for his searchers quest. they both unpack and repack his stuff so many times, hiding random things: a book on playing pan pipes, some cans, a birthday card (who knows when they'll see him next), mythomagic cards, so many things. Grovers hat goes missing, then his shoes, etc. eventually he leaves. Percy and Annabeth make hearts and blow kisses and dramatically declare how much theyll miss him. till they are right there, at the road, sobbing. Grover leaves, and for the first time in a long time, theres just the two of them. then Annabeth leaves too. the three of them don't know how painfully the others miss them.

im so happy right now so many little black girls are going to watch people praise annabeth chase for her smartness, her bravery, call her beautiful. they're going to see her on screen and dress up as annabeth on halloween, they're going to want to be just like her and they'll call her their role model.

so many little brown boys are going to see grover underwood and see him as a loving, loyal, compassionate boy that is not stereotyped horribly and not made to be a coward. they're going to watch grover achieve his dreams because he deserved to. they're going to watch grover be so caring and kind and realize that it's okay to be that way.

it's just that... so many poc kids now are going to watch these characters be loved and appreciated on screen, without being sexualised/ridiculed for their race. they're going to find new role models. im so happy.
