you're pretty sure the coffeeshop's bar lights and their warm rosy tint have been playing tricks on your eyes.

because you've been staring at this banged-up student ID—covered with scratches, yellowed from years of use—for the past ten minutes, and you still haven't been able to figure out how a person could be so good looking.

miya osamu, reads the card, which means you can now put a name to the handsomest face you've ever come across. his eyes are the slightest bit droopy, which would've made him more cute than hot if not for the piercing gaze he holds. that, coupled with a strong brow, steel grey eyes, and the delicate slope of his nose, had butterflies stirring restlessly in your stomach.

the lost and found box in the coffeeshop usually holds the same few items—umbrellas, water bottles, earphones, and even claw clips. and as per the seven-day rule—if the owner of the lost item doesn’t come back for it in seven days, you can take whatever you want—you’ve managed to get away with a good few finds: namely, a beaded bracelet which says T-H-O-T-<3 and a compact foldable umbrella for rainy days on campus.

this, though, this pretty boy’s student ID—might just be your new favourite find. there’s just something satisfying about the combination of his features. it makes you want to pocket the student card, maybe even stuff it in your wallet for safekeeping—like a treasured Pokémon card that’s limited edition and sold out everywhere.

too bad this item only showed up in the box today: meaning miya osamu has another six days to come back for it, or it’s yours for life.

(you wonder if you’d rather keep this scratched, dirty card, or wait and see if he’ll come back for it—though you weren’t sure if you’d be able to survive meeting him in person.)

ding!

oh, too bad. looks like you don’t get to choose, because miya osamu just walked in—big brows and pretty eyes and everything.

“hey, i know yer closin’ in a bit, but i think i left my student card here. ya have a lost ‘nd found box or anything?” his charming hyogo accent zips straight up your spine and you stand up as straight as you can.

“um, yeah, i— uh, miya osamu, right? i have it right here—” you reach out to show him the card, only for it to slip between your fingers and land on the bar’s smooth marble counter. “i, uh, need you to fill in a form before i can give it to you, though.”

“sure thing. thanks for holdin’ onto it.” he nods, and even his nod is attractive.

you scurry off towards the back to grab a pen and the claim form, nearly tripping over yourself in excitement. damn it, so that means you won’t be able to keep his student card—but he’s so crazily handsome in person that you didn’t mind at all.

osamu’s tall (and broad, you noticed): the shadow he casts over the counter when he leans down to fill in his particulars stretches long and wide.

“so, um. when did you realise you lost your card?” you hum in an attempt to make small talk.

“couldn’t tap into the science building. that’s when i knew.”

“oh, you’re in science?”

“yeah,” he says with a proud grin, sliding the form back to you and leaning on the counter. you resist the urge to ogle at the prominent veins on his forearms. “food science, actually. we baked bread in class today.”

“that sounds so much more fun than the three-hour business law seminar i had at the crack of dawn today,” you laugh, and check over the fields to make sure they were all filled. osamu has nice handwriting, you note. it’s a little loopy and a tad too big, just like any other boy’s, but it had character.

shit, you’re down bad, aren’t you?

“i’ll bring ya some of my sourdough next time—that could keep ya awake in class. anyways, thanks. and see ya soon.” he gives you a wave, complete with a little grin that reveals a faint dimple on his left cheek.

you wave back from behind the counter, face on fire and your heart hammering against your ribcage. “s-see you!”

wait. next time? soon?

IM BACK with yet again, another req!! (Chaotic) headcanons of being bestfriends with Suga, Kageyama & Hinata (together), Noya and the Miya twins >:D Make sure to take care, drink water, eat well and sleep well!

Nishinoya, Miya Twins, Y/N

Very chaotic if you ask me. If you are an introvert, then that's not the group for you. I mean if you are, you actually were adopted by one of them because they are loud and messy, and hot-headed.

If you're an extrovert, then you just add to the chaos, resulting in an explosion probably.

Nonetheless, you end up having a lot of fun. It's always an adventure with these three.

Nishinoya likes to travel, see new places and meet new people. Osamu is a foodie. This combination forces both Atsumu and you to be adventurous and risk-takers.

Some places are amazing, some... well it's an experience right?

I can totally imagine the four being lost in the Amazonas or whatever. Nishinoya looking at the map upside-down, Atsumu being harassed by all fauna and flora, Osamu tiered and grumpy, while you're trying to actually find service.

So yeah, many places like South America, India, and Africa. Like many camping trips and all.

Overall, it's a group that's always trying new things. A boring day with any of them will never happen.

Although, you and Nishinoya will need to be able to go with the flow, and usually act like the bigger person because Atsumu is fiery. He does like certain things and he gets whiny when things don't go his way. Osamu might be slightly more cool-headed but in reality, we all know they share the same DNA so he also likes his accommodations.

One time, Nishinoya managed to book a camping trip last minute and the accommodations were horrible. Osamu was very unhappy.

Picture the serie 'Friends', Monica getting sting by a ray... yup, with this group, it could happen.

Sugawara, Kageyama, Y/N, Hinata

Whenever you hang out with Hinata or Kageyama or both, you just end up playing volleyball or doing something related to the sport.

When you just hang out with Suga, it's a different story. More life outside volleyball.

Now, I could tell you Suga is a mother hen but I'd be lying. We all know he is just as chaotic as kagehina, but hey! So are you!

Unlike another certain *ahem* group, your chemistry works perfect.

I'd say the dynamic it's a little more balance. Plus your group has a third year in it. Suppousuly more mature.

Like Suga is very good at reading people/situations, unlike Kageyama. If you're shy, then Hinata will balance it out.

I think the group would include more stay-at-home reunions, rather than going on various trips.

Although you would take some adventures because 1) Hinata is a social butterfly and 2) He has the stamina of a beast, so it's obvious that he will want to do anything all at once.

Overall, this group would be a 100% supportive, like they always have your back no matter what

Murdered someone? No worries, they'll burry it

Stress? They will help you or get your mind off. Sad? Lots of cuddles

A/N: Yes this is a shameless written work to make my application for a zine stronger, what of it?

Jokes, just kidding, but if you like my work please check out this internet form, linked here, to gauge interest in an x reader Haikyuu Zine I’m thinking of making!

Might make this a series too idk, I have a really good idea for Hinata and Kageyama

Osamu

* I feel like the first pokemon he ever got was an Eevee

* It was definitely a well thought out decision that he spent a lot of time thinking and debilitating about

* Since the region they live in is in the Hyōgo prefecture, which is in Kansai (which was sort of the blueprint Johto was based on) he might have considered Chikorita, or a Larvitar.

* A hardy pokemon who he could grow with

* Maybe even a pichu, which has three evolutionary stages, perfect for each period of his life

* But Osamu is still learning who he is, he’s always growing and changing

* So he goes with an Eevee, a versatile Pokémon that can grow and change with him

* No matter how hard he tries the Eevee sits on his shoulder all the time

* “Man, yer an affectionate thing ain’t ya?”

* After a while he just gets used to it, holding his arms out on instinct so he can carry his little fox

* At first he and Atsumu travel together but it becomes pretty apparent to him that while the occasional battle can be fun

* He doesn’t want to battle all the time

* Honestly the most fun thing is cooking and learning to make delicious dishes

* So they split up so he can learn more about cuisine and what he wants to do

* I can see Osamu having a larvitar and a lapras too

* The Lapras he got purely by coincidence, someone he met on the beach said that they breaded a Lapras but, it seemed to like to battle, would he like to have it?

* Osamu, who is usually a little lazy and apathetic towards everything, has stars in his eyes as he nods

* He raises it with a lot of love and care, and often doses off on it’s back on lazy days when Lapras wants to swim but he just wants to nap

* The Larvitar he hatches from an egg he got from a traveler

* I feel like it would be stuck in the Pupitar stage for a really long time

* To the point it starts to get frustrated that it can’t evolve

* “Don’t worry, these things happen when they happen, ain’t anythin’ to worry about” he says patting it softly

* Eventually it does evolve into Tryanitar, and like Eevee it’s very affectionate

* I think they all play a part in setting up/helping out at Onigiri Miya when Osamu decides he doesn’t really like battling anymore and just wants to cook and make delicious food

* The Tryanitar, though clumsy at first, serves orders, or at least tries to

* Osamu usually take Lapras to various islands and locations to get ingredients and learn different cooking techniques

* And the Eevee is sort of the mascot for Onigiri Miya

* I’m a little conflicted, because I can see Osamu keeping his Eevee an Eevee, saying something like:

* “You’re fine just the way you are, no need ta change if ya don’t want to”

* But I can also see the Eevee evolving into a Sylveon just from how much Osamu spoils and loves them

* He also has a munchlax somewhere around this time, that he found in the alleyway looking for scraps and basically adopted to be his taste tester in the restaurant

* “How’s this one? Better or worse than the first?”

* He’s super proud of his Pokémon either way

* And he loves them all equally

* Hanging on a wall in Onigiri Miya is a picture of him and Atsumu with their Eevees as kids, and a picture of Osamu with his Pokémon team

* It’s all very sweet

Atsumu

* Oh my god

* This dude is an impulsive hot mess

* You know how Osamu thought a lot about his starter Pokémon and what he wanted long term?

* Atsumu saw Osamu pick and Eevee and said

* “Me too, Ah want one of those too”

* But that’s about where the similarities end

* He can’t wait for his Eevee to evolve

* “Man a flareon would be bad ass, but Ah wouldn’t sneeze at an umbreon or anything”

* The Eevee does a Pokémon equivalent of a sigh before turning so they don’t have to look at him

* “Aw, don’t be like that!”

* Osamu and Atsumu travel together at first

* And I 100% believe Atsumu gets into a feud with an Aipom who’s always pranking and torturing him

* “‘SAMU THAT DAMN THING STOLE MA CLOTHES AGAIN!” He shouts before stomping into the woods, following the trail of clothes that the Aipom left behind

* Osamu raises an eyebrow as he continues stirring the curry

* “They’re just teasin’ ya ‘Sumu, they’d probably stop if you didn’t react like that” he mumbles under his breath, smiling when his Eevee bounds over to him

* The Aipom is just trying to get a rise out of him, and can you blame him? Atsumu is pretty easy to tease

* “Ah just wanna have a heart ‘ta heart with ya” He’ll say one day, hoping this will change things between them

* After baring his soul to the Aipom for over thirty minutes it gives him rather soulful eyes, before stealing his hat and a pack of crackers, and running off into the woods

* “Come back here dammit! Ah really liked that hat!”

* Osamu and the two eevee’s just watch

* “Well at least this is entertaining” he shrugs

* I can totally see Atsumu challenging every trainer he see’s to a Pokémon battle and being super aggressive about it general

* “We locked eyes! That means we have to battle, ’s the law!”

* “No it ain’t” Osamu says lazily beside him

* “IT’s tHe LaW!”

* He totally befriends a Totodile

* “‘SAMU, ‘SAMU, LOOK WHAT I CAUGHT!” He says, holding up his caught totadile who spreads their arms with a wide smile

* “Hmmm”

* “AIN’T HE THE COOLEST?”

* He just totally digs this weird creature

* They both have super chaotic vibes tbh

* Around the time he catches his third Pokémon, a scyther he got lucky enough to find, he starts getting impatient about his Eevee not having evolved yet

* “When are ya gonna evolve? It’s been years!”

* “Atsumu it’s literally been three weeks”

* “WEEKS!”

* He pouts when his Eevee sighs like she can’t stand his outbursts, and turns away from him

* “I’m just looking forward to seein’ who you become” he sniffles, and eevee’s ears twitch. Sighing she moves and sits on his lap

* She’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now, he is her trainer

* He doesn’t say anything, just pats her head and smiles

* Halfway through, Osamu realizes he’s really not into battling, and that he’s more interested in learning about the different cuisines and dishes in every town they visit

* Atsumu is all about battling though, and after a while they part, with Atsumu going to compete in the league and get all the gym badges he can, and Osamu sails away on his Lapras to learn more about food

* His first night alone Atsumu is feeling pretty lonely, he’s never been without Osamu, when he hears a rustling outside his tent, he charges outside with his camping light expecting to see a thief, or maybe a member of team rocket or something

* But instead it’s just his Aipom

* His in the sense that it’s the Aipom that’s always tormenting him

* “Oh, it’s you,” he lets out a sigh of relief as he sits on the ground “well what do you want?”

* The Aipom frowns rubbing it’s head then pointing to Atsumu

* “Oh him? He’s gone, why ya miss his curry?” He grins, but the Aipom’s frown only deepens

* “Don’t ya get sad on me, he just had a different dream ‘s all”

* The Aipom looks at the ground for several second, a determined gaze when he looks up again

* Then he scampers over to Atsumu and perches himself on his shoulder

* “Ya wanna come with me?”

* Aipom only nuzzle it’s face into Atsumu’s neck, and he grins

* “Alright, sounds like a plan”

* After that, things get a lot more relaxed

* The time alone does him good and he matures

* He spends his time battling and learning from trainers he meets, battling the occasional team rocket goon, and getting the random egg from a townsperson he might meet

* He still has some childish tendencies

* “Damn it! How long am I gonna have to spend at this stupid lake looking for a dratini?” He shrieks, sitting on the edge of a pond in the safari zone. Eevee shakes her head, stretching after yawning. “And how am I supposed to catch anything with just these dumb pieces of bait and poke balls?”

* He sighs, and goes back to the task

* His exercise of patience works out though, because he managed to find a dragonair

* Atsumu still keeps his aggressive battling style, choosing raw power

* But it’s much more thoughtful and relaxed than it was at first

* “Nothing wrong with taking a break every now and then” he says to his Scyther as they widdle different wooden figurines

* It take a little over a year, in which time all of his Pokémon have evolved

* His totadile to a Feraligator, Scyther to a scizor, Dragonair to Dragonite, and his Aipom to an Ambipom

* The only one that hasn’t is his Eevee

* “That’s okay, take ya time, there’s no need to rush and grow up”

* There’s a possibility that his Eevee becomes an Espeon or even a Leafeon, but I think his Eevee decides to stay an Eevee, comfortable just the way they are

* He probably gets halfway through the Elite 4, before he has to start again, the second time with a typhlosion, and becomes league champion

* But he declines the position

* “Standing around waiting’ for someone to show up so I can battle them sounds boring, I’ll pass”

* He decides to go to different regions to meet more people and have more adventures

i like you so matcha

prompt: is it really a rivals to lovers if one likes the other?

pairing: osamu x reader

Osamu wasn’t one to worry about competition; he had heard of the new café just a few stores down from his own restaurant and while he believed that the grand opening was nothing more than large interest, the hype reached his own workers. While he prides himself on providing a menu that is cost efficient and perfect for anyone; his workers seem to think that the new café combined low cost with high quality and aesthetics.

Again, Osamu wasn’t that interested in the new place until through the grapevine he heard they were selling onigiri. It wasn’t just any onigiri, apparently their take involved changing the color of the rice to add an artistic component. They were even going as far as shaping the onigiri into novelty orientations, one of his workers showcased the hello kitty onigiri.

Once more, Osamu tried to reason that it wasn’t interesting but he can’t help the sudden tick of his forehead when his brother walks right passed the windows of his restaurant only to emerge thirty minutes later with a to-go box of rainbow colored onigiri. It irked him even more when Atsumu had the audacity to sit at the counter and eat the onigiris with such happiness.

“Hey Samu, you think you could make some of these.” Osamu takes the box, promptly throwing it into the trash, eliciting a whine from Atsumu who declares that now he must wait another twenty minutes in line for more.

Osamu finds himself waiting in line with his brother. Atsumu cries that his stomach is hungry, but Osamu keeps his attention to how long the line is; it didn’t wrap around the block but it was fairly long enough to understand that the place was popular. The glow of the neon blue sign is just barely evident under the sun, but it must appear better under night conditions.

When he looks inside, he sees pristine white tables that balance with the brightly colored food; the chairs looked to have comfortable padding, some decorated with different colored pillows. There were mirrors displayed along the walls, one moon shaped, one stars, one of the sun, he takes it to understand that this was probably a theme of the café.

“We’re almost to the front!” Atsumu’s stomach growls the closer they get.

Osamu notices there’s decorative fairy lights along the window looking out into the street, the windowsill is large and he thinks it’s a good idea when he sees some customers using the space as a seating area. There’s a chalkboard used to display the menu behind the workers at the counter and even a small one at the cash register that lists the specials of the day.

Even as they find a seat, Osamu’s eyes are staring at the ceiling, how aesthetic, he thinks, there’s even a mirror above where they sat. He observes the customers, most are women but here and there are a few men; some with their lovers, some just here for the food. He can conclude that most of the hype of the place is from the aesthetic alone. It’s the perfect place for a photo opportunity with how decorated everything is.

“Order for Miya!”

Atsumu practically sprints to the counter and back. When Osamu tries to touch the food, Atsumu slaps his hand, “Wait! Let me take a picture!”

Osamu rolls his eyes; his brother has fallen into the trap that is the café. Atsumu takes five minutes to capture every angle that he can, even utilizing the ceiling mirror to get a picture of him and his brother with the food. Osamu takes note of Atsumu’s drink, clear plastic with a secure top; it allows you to see the different layers of the coffee but he knows once Atsumu mixes the drink it’ll turn green for the matcha flavor.

“Look!” Atsumu is shoving the cup in Osamu’s face, “There’s a design on the cup!” Atsumu’s eyes sparkle at the cute print of a Pokémon character, “That means I was one of the first hundred customers of the day.”

At this point, Osamu wants to applaud the aesthetic of the restaurant. Even taking the time to print on designs for customers as a novelty item to which they could boost about on social media, Osamu is impressed. But he reasons that the aesthetic of the place must hold to a high standard with the food.

So when he takes one of the onigiri’s, he’s ready to critique the flavor.

“Are you enjoying your meal?”

When Osamu looks up after taking a bite, the rice flows down the wrong pipe; he coughs loudly, wheezing at the way the salted salmon is a lump in his throat. Atsumu gives up his drink for his brother and Osamu nearly falls in love with the sweet taste of the matcha coffee.

“Are you alright?” Your hand is pressed on his shoulder, it moved from when you had been lightly hitting his back to help.

Osamu’s cough dies down as he watched you move to the counter; the workers listening intently to your words before nodding off.

“I’m sorry.” Osamu coughs for a last time as you approach the table.

Your hands are on your hips, a grin pressed neatly on your lips as you hold out a hand, “It’s my fault, I must have surprised you coming over all of a sudden. I’m the owner and you run Onigiri Miya don’t you?” Osamu feels sweat beat down the side of his face when he reaches out to grasp your hands, “I’m a big fan, you have great flavors, I can only hope that ours matches yours.”

Your attention turns to his twin, Atsumu gladly takes your attention, this gives Osamu time to collect himself. Osamu discoveries himself staring at you, you radiated a type of energy, one that he feels matches his own when it comes to running a business. The smile on your face makes him flush slightly and his palms remain sweaty from when he held your hand.

“It’s an honor to have a professional volleyball player eat at our establishment. We hope to see us on your social media page. One of my workers will bring over a free drink for the inconvenience.” Your head lowers in courtesy, waving to the men to continue their dining experience, “Oh and Mister Onigiri Miya, I’d love to bounce some ideas off you, I think we’d work great as partners for a few projects.”

Business partners was the last thing Osamu was going to agree to now that he had been up and close with the café; it’s been deemed a threat. It irked him when he saw you, a smile on your face as you wave to him early in the morning. His business seemed to always open and end with you, that’s how he discovered that even your hours of operation were the same as his.

It annoyed him when you visited, a large cup of matcha coffee in your hand as you offer it to him during the middle of lunch rush. It’s sweet when he drinks it, but he tries not to like it too much and he even tries to repress the craving for it on days when you don’t visit his shop. He even holds back the urge to visit the café when he really wants some matcha coffee.

He also finds it absolutely annoying how the parking spaces in front of his restaurant are always blocked by your customers. One time he stormed into your café, the workers were no stranger to his complaints. He’s automatically walking to your office in the back. When he can’t find you, he discovers you in a hidden kitchen meant for creative purposes.

“Oh, Miya Osamu. What can I do for you?” There’s rice on your cheek, your apron dirtied with minced ingredients, you wipe your hands on the ends of your apron to leave streaks of flour.

Osamu pushes aside the thought that he finds your hair pulled up cute, his hands on his waist as he puffs out his chest, “You need to do something about the parking situation! Your customers are parking in spots specifically meant for Onigiri Miya!”

You laugh, the back of your hand wiping against your cheek to remove the rice, “No problem! I’ll just put up signs on parking. Good?”

Osamu’s eyes twitch, the rice on your cheek is still stuck there and you can’t seem to find just where it is. He takes a step forward, fingers reaching out to graze the speck of rice and flick it off into another direction. You’re grinning.

“Thanks, did you want some coffee?” Your hand is already preparing a cup, pushing buttons on a machine as it spews out coffee, “I’m trying out some matcha and chocolate fusion drinks. I think I just figured out the perfect balance. Taste test?” You hold out the cup to him.

It’s sweet, just a perfect blend; absolutely beautiful. Osamu ends up taking the drink back to his restaurant, eyes staring at the cup with doodles of hearts and stars.

The next day, Osamu barges into your office stating that the music from your café is too loud, even though he’s three stores down, and none of his workers could hear anything but he’s insisted that the music is too distracting. He returns once more with a complimentary drink and a lighter mood than before.

“Isn’t he being too demanding?” One of your workers watches Osamu peer into the shop.

You’re smiling, already prepping the matcha drink, “I think it’s cute.”

“He’s acting like he’s part of the neighborhood watch committee.” Your worker stands straight up, “Good morning mister Miya, another complaint today?”

Osamu crosses his arms, lips in a thin line, “If you’re going to have your workers hand out flyers, I would prefer it if it wasn’t done in front of my restaurant.”

“Here’s your order.” The cup in your hand is stretched out to him.

“I didn’t.” Osamu frowns but his finger brush against yours when he reaches for the cup.

“I’ll be sure to tell them to stay closer to our café.” Despite him turning away, he flushes, “Have a great day Miya Osamu!” Your voice makes his ears go red.

The workers giggle when he turns around to thank you. It was painfully obvious that he had a crush on you. Excuses upon excuses as a way to step into your café and have brief moments with you. His eyes distracted by the cup, he runs into the door, giggles follow him as he leaves.

Osamu has himself crouched behind the counter, hands in his hair, hiding from the world. He remains a roadblock to his workers but they all move around him; he can’t possibly step back into your café after that embarrassing moment.

“It probably wasn’t that bad sir.” The worker has been waiting for five minutes trying to get one of the rice bags from behind Osamu.

Osamu digs his hands into his hair, “I basically face planted into the door.”

“Can I just get the rice please? We have orders.”

When Osamu stands to his feet, the wind gets knocked out of him. You wave from behind the counter and Osamu coughs as though he was busily trying to do something from under.

“Can I help you with something?”

You lean on your toes, it makes him want to delve just a little closer to you, “Yeah, there’s a car blocking one of our carry out spots, it has an Onigiri Miya sticker on the bumper so we thought maybe it was yours?”

Osamu facepalms, he had forgotten to move his car. He’s quick to round the counter, making his way to you until he feels it. He’s suddenly thrusted forward, unable to comprehend the wet floor sign before he’s tumbling right into you. Your hands steady his arms, Osamu’s find themselves clutching your waist. He was blushing madly, nose brushing against yours; customers and workers alike stare at the rather intimate hold.

“Are you alright?”

Osamu lets go but the step he takes back makes him slip, your arm stretches out to grasp him but it only sends you forward. Everyone gasps. Osamu lands on his ass, your body hovering over him and he’s blushing even harder now with your breath against his skin.

“I’m so sorry.” You pull away from him.

“It’s my fault.” Osamu dusts himself off, helping you to your feet, even holding your hand to try and balance the both of you, “Are you okay?”

Besides minor embarrassment, you grin to him, “Nothing I haven’t experienced before. Have you ever slipped and spilled rice in the middle of lunch rush, effectively getting grains of rice in everything?” Osamu laughs, “Truly one of my more embarrassing moments.”

He feels his heart suddenly more at ease, the restaurant goes back to their bustling conversations and the two of you walk out together. Osamu thinks to himself that the term rivals didn’t fit the category that he has you under in his head.

“It’s called love.” Atsumu draws the word out and Osamu smacks his arm, effectively making Atsumu bang his head against the table, “Dammit Samu! Stop doing that!”

“Stop being stupid then.”

Atsumu begins a snarky outcry of obscenities at his brother. He doesn’t mind it as he sees you walking past his restaurant. The sun makes it hard for you to notice him through the windows but he has a perfect view of you carrying boxes towards your café. Your steps halt as the top box begins to tilt, leaning the rest of the boxes in the same directions.

“I got you.” Osamu pushes the boxes, he takes the top half to balance in his hands, “I’ll help you.”

“Thanks.” You beam, “I see your brother is visiting.”

When Osamu looks at the window, Atsumu has his face pressed against the glass. His heavy breathing creating fog, “Samu!” It amuses you when Osamu knocks against the glass, sending Atsumu to jolt back, “Samu! Get me some onigiri from the café.”

“You’re literally in an Onigiri restaurant!” Osamu barks.

Your giggle pulls him along and as if cupid had struck him with fifty arrows, he follows you happily.

It came to no surprise for literally everyone when Osamu finally mustered up the courage to ask you out. In the after hours of work, he discovers you flipping chairs all by your lonesome; his hand knocks against the glass, it causes you to jump in surprise but it quickly fades when you see him motioning for the locked door.

“Where are all of your workers?” Osamu has begun to help turn the chairs onto the tables, something he’s accustomed to doing at his restaurant.

“I sent them home. I don’t like making them stay too late.”

Osamu thinks about how his workers are cleaning up at the moment; he follows you to the back, eyes trailing themselves over your body, he finds the way your hair is tied with ribbons to be cute and he wonders if you look just as cute with your hair down.

“Osamu?”

He blushes when you bring him back to reality, “Sorry, I was thinking about something.”

“I’m just finishing up some prep for tomorrow, you don’t have to stay.” Your hands dust flour onto the table, your fingers forming bagels for tomorrow’s breakfast rush.

Osamu stands next to you, he curiously takes a piece of dough, following your hand movements to form the bagel shape, “This is the first time I’ve formed bagels.”

“Really?” You glance at him, “You’re a natural, I’d definitely hire you as a chef.” Unexpectedly, Osamu feels your hand hold over his, “You just need to make sure it’s all uniform. I don’t think my customers would enjoy bagels that are one size five times bigger than another.”

It’s another two hours before you two finish forming and proofing the bagels for the next day. He waits outside the doors of your café, he can clearly see his workers are just about to leave too, they snicker seeing him waiting outside. He quickly motions for them to go away, when the door chimes, he pretends as though he was just about to scratch his head.

“Thanks for the help.” Your hair falls past your shoulders, Osamu wishes time would stop for a second so he could run his fingers through them. It’s just the two of you standing on the empty street, the lamps barely doing you justice, “I’ll see you tomorrow then.”

“Wait.” Osamu tugs on your sleeve, “Do you want to have dinner with me? Or will you? I mean, you don’t have to but if you want to.”

“Are you asking me out?”

Osamu gulps, “Are willing to go out with me?”

He may have reached another level of joy when you clasp onto his arm, “Duh! You’re a little slow but you got there eventually.”

Osamu lets you drag him along the sidewalk, opting for a place nearby rather than driving elsewhere. He can’t help the smile of content on his face watching you stuff your mouth with food. The meal is comfortable and nice; but the date is absolutely, blissfully, perfect. At the end of the night, he walks you to your car, hands dug deep into his pockets and he isn’t sure if he should shamelessly kiss you or do the awkward hug and goodbye.

“Are you thinking if you should kiss me or hug me?” You laugh when he looks at you bewildered.

“Are you reading my mind?”

You lean forward, a whisper on you, “It’s a secret superpower I have.” The both of you chuckle and before he can register it, you stand on your toes, pressing a quick kiss onto his cheek. You open the door to your car as he blushes profoundly, “Normally I don’t kiss on the first date, the one on the cheek is just a guilty pleasure, because you’re cute.”

Osamu knew from the beginning that the competition shouldn’t have been one to worry about. What he should have been worried about was how cute the owner was.

“Uh-oh, here comes leader of the neighborhood watch committee.” Your workers snicker seeing him strut into the café, “Good morning mister Miya.”

“I have a complaint.” Osamu crosses his arms, eyes staring at you. He leans forward, “I’d prefer it if you kept your hair down.” His fingers pull on the ribbon in your hair, your strands fall to your shoulders.

On your toes, your lips meet his from over the counter; there’s a hum in him, “We take complaints here very seriously.” You steal the ribbon from his fingers, “But you know I can’t be walking around with my hair down.”

“I have a solution.” He situates a hat that he’s made appear out of no where onto your head. He pushes strands of your hair behind your ears and fixes the hat’s strap to fit nicely onto your head, “Perfect.”

You roll your eyes to your boyfriend, “It says Onigiri Miya on the hat doesn’t it.”

Osamu happily claps his hands, “Product placement.”

“You’re so shameless!” You set the drink in front of him, “Cash or card?”

Osamu scoffs, “You’re making me pay now?”

“Yup.” You wink to him, “It’s what boyfriends do.”

“You boyfriend trapped me with free matcha coffee.” Osamu takes the drink, pressing a kiss on your lips quickly, “Put it on my tab.”

“You literally don’t have a tab, Samu!” He’s laughing as he runs away with the drink, turning around to blow you a kiss before running off to his restaurant to prepare for the lunch rush.

The arrival of the MSBY Ace solidified the harsh reality the Onigiri Miya owner was struggling to accept. It was quite clear in his text exchanges with the Ace that you would not be accompanying him to retrieve your belongings. It would defeat the purpose of sending him. Nonetheless, a dim spark of hope ignited inside of his chest upon hearing the delicate knock on the apartment door. Mentally he scolded himself, recognizing that he would likely be disappointed by who was stood behind the barrier. Yet he could not extinguish the emotion threading through his heart, warming it for the first time in twenty-four hours.

When Osamu did answer the posed permission to enter, he was greeted by Bokuto, whose happy demeanour melted into an apologetic one upon seeing grief darken his already cloudy eyes. The sight reminded the professional athlete of a stormy sky seconds from unleashing a deadly downpour.

“Hey. Sorry, she’s not here. I’m just the messenger.” Bokuto doubted the cook would shed any tears in his presence, vulnerability was something his friend hid behind a perfectly cultivated mask. The only people privileged enough to explore the area behind the mask were you, and Atsumu. Which he did not mind. The only issue was that recently, even you were denied access to the emotions splattered violently behind the veil. It was something that contributed to the eventual collapse of your relationship, a fact Osamu realized a bit too late.

“You don’t have to apologize. This is my fault.” And, if I lose her, that’s on me too – he mentally added, ache clenching his organs. Averting his gaze to the carpet below, he stepped aside to grant the Ace access to the apartment.

The bag that Osamu packed with your essential items was located on the kitchen table. A suitcase also rested nearby, containing the larger items that he was unable to fit into the carry on piece. Bokuto thanked him for having everything prepared well in advance. The cook responded with a low exhale of acknowledgement.

Would it be enough, though? Or would he soon lose every trace of you from the apartment?

And if you one day planned on retrieving the remainder of your belongings, could he ask you take him too?

The inquiry brought water to blur his vision as a bitter laugh bubbled from within him. He quickly discharged the liquid with the tips of his fingers, knowing well he did not deserve Bokuto’s pity.

But Bokuto did not catch the moment of vulnerability, fatefully he was in the bedroom, searching for the one item you presumed would not have been packed – an album. Not just any album, it was the one dedicated to every major event in your life. It was a collection of happiness, and right now you were deprived of that exact emotion. You secretly hoped viewing the photographs would provide you some solace, even if it were just wishful thinking.

Ten minutes later, the MSBY player had the duffle bag swung over his shoulder, and the suitcase handle in his grasp. Osamu noticed the album tucked under his arm but elected not to inquire why that was required for a business trip to Brazil.

“Alright. I think I got everything!” A wide smile was beamed towards the somber twin as Bokuto adjusted the strap, preparing to exit the apartment.

“Before you go… Can you answer something for me?” As soon as the question rolled off his lips, he instantly regretted it. Why ask a question, if you do not want to know the answer? Ignorance is bliss, so why was he attempting to destroy the single thread of hope he was clinging to?

“I can try.” The athlete shifted awkwardly, he knew the question would involve you – and there was only so much he could disclose on the topic.

“Is she still wearing it?” The cook’s heart sunk into the pit of his stomach, producing a nauseating sensation to fill him. He should have not asked – why did he ask –

“Yeah. She is.” In a signal of encouragement, Bokuto reached out to lightly squeeze his friend’s shoulder. “Hang in, buddy. She’ll talk to you when she’s ready.” It hurt him to witness his two close friends in pain, he sincerely prayed for their reconciliation; but he knew it was not guaranteed. Not all damage could be repaired, after-all.

After issuing a weak response of gratitude, the MSBY Ace exited the apartment, leaving Osamu to untangle the web of thoughts your absence left with him.

The incident that threatened your future together had only occurred twenty-four hours ago, but every minute that passed increased the uncertainty haunting him – did he even have a future left to protect? He desperately yearned to speak with you; to hear the softness in your voice that was reserved only for him, to explain the truth and to apologize for his mistakes. But your request for space had to be respected – after witnessing what occurred yesterday, it was a just demand, one he could not object. The only option available was to wait until you were ready to speak with him. Pressuring you into delving into matters that stemmed from his incompetence was not something he was prepared to do. He required a moment to gather the courage to move from his post at the front door. When he did finally enter the bedroom, his gaze caught something he originally presumed to have packed. The stuffed teddy bear sat on the vanity was your travelling companion. You had even set up an Instagram for the toy, with the handle – Adventures with Teddiursa. He had bought you the plushie a year ago as an apology for being unable to join you on your various business trips. After complaining about the lack of a ‘snuggle-partner’, he surprised you with the stuffed bear resembling one of your favourite Pokémon. You often claimed that it was your favourite gift; it even surpassed the diamond ring on your finger.

He knew he had to get it to you.

There was a chance he could meet Bokuto at the lobby if he took the stairs. Scooping up the plushie, the cook slid into a pair of shoes, not bothering to properly put them on before dashing out into the hallway. If he couldn’t provide you the comfort you needed – maybe the fluffy piece within his grasp could.

But when he arrived at the lobby, the Ace was nowhere to be found. In a final attempt to locate him, Osamu walked to the street level, scanning the familiar area for the spikey haired player. What he found instead was a beautiful girl, slurring arguments into her phone while squinting at the colourful lights hanging above her.

Fate had somehow brought him to you.

January Shopping

After the Xmas holiday, as expected, a lot of packages have arrived. To my biggest surprise, one from Japan was there within 10 days - it’s rare even during ‘normal’ times, yet alone during the pandemic AND the holidays.

Let’s see what I got: 3 wall calendars (the ‘usual’ SnK and HQ!!, alongside with the newcomer BnHA - this went to my nephew) and a desktop one (Nyanko-sensei).

I was really excited about the latest 2 nendoroids: tangerine Hinata (complete with an extra Hinata rubber keychain) and Atsumu Miya (the other twin, Osamu is on his way). Both are adorable, the little sunshine gluttons. XD

I got a few used figures again: a beautiful Natsume one, accompanied with a chibi version, a little stone statue Nyanko-sensei, 2 Free! boys (Haru and Nagisa, I already had Rei, now I only need a Makoto from this set).

Once upon a time there was a sale at Hobby Search (yes, another) - from that one I got a Todoroki nitotan plushie, a Hyperventilation clearfile and a BnHA shitajiki.

I also got 2 complete gacha sets, both KnY: the latest suwarasetai chibis and the adorable onemutan ones.

Talking about sets: a BnHA desktop figure set of 6 - this will also be a present to my nephew and a beautiful Pokémon tree. So far I avoided this type because I found it expensive, but this one looked beautiful and loved most of the pokés of the set.

Last but not least - I made an order of the super talented fanartist, Onegingek, the art collection book of 2020 and quite a few prints - it was so hard to narrow it down, all the fandoms she draws in I love and the art is beyond gorgeous.
