Fellow humans, I return with some intriguing news!
So, do any of your remember that fanfiction I made last January called "Once Upon A Time In Colombia"?
The one where my feline OC, Oscar, assists Mirabel in the events of the movie, eventually leading up to, looking back, a somewhat rushed C-plot with an unmemorable character (the mountain lion).
Well, for those of you who are interested...
I have decided to give the story a complete makeover! I am giving "Once Upon A Time In Colombia" a remaster! A link will be provided for fanfiction.net, Wattpad, and A03.
The original "Once Upon A Time In Colombia" will not be deleted. I'm hoping that the remastered version has a more intriguing plot after Casita's downfall, more memorable characters, and overall longer.
As of this post, everything up to the chapter where Casita falls is complete. I hope to have the entire story completely remastered and ready by the end of the month.
And take a gander at this little bio of Oscar that I made earlier today:
Tumblr media
I will have bios for the other OCs that are listed (specifically Tucker and the mentioned crocodile) on a later date, which will be a separate post.
In the meantime, do feel free to express any comments, questions, or concerns. Understand that the chances of me being able to answer any questions asked may be high, but they will never be 100%.

So, think about this:
Oscar getting his feline leukemia shot.
You may be wondering, how did it go? Did he behave?
If he behaves for a bath, he behaves for a shot. He was scared, but he was good.
Except for when he screamed like a banshee when the actual shot happened.
It went EXACTLY like this. Watch the video until the end.
youtube
Other than that, he was a very good kitty.

This has happened before, on more than one occasion, and you can't deny it.
Camilo: I am mad and upset right now and there is nothing that will make me feel better about it.

Oscar: *meows happily and trots to Camilo to lay down next to him*
Camilo, stroking his head trying to hold back the smile: Damn it.

How did Oscar get into the Madrigal family?
Simple.
He was adopted into the family.
How, though? Visualize the following:
A seven-month-old Oscar sleeping right next to the front door of the Casita.
Luisa finding him outside and bringing him in, subsequently being woken up.
Oscar immediately purring in her gentle grasp. This also being the first warm place he's actually slept in.
The kitten waking up to all of these unfamiliar but friendly faces. He was more excited and curious than he was nervous.
He was passed around to each Madrigal so they could get to know each other (Isabela didn't like him very much, nor did she handle him very long). "Aww's" could be heard when he licked Mirabel and Camilo's faces. His reaction, as well as everyone else's: "Can we keep him?"
To be honest, Abuela was about to say yes, until it occurred to her that he might belong to someone. Regardless, he let him stay in the Casita for the night.
Oscar got a glimpse of everyone's rooms (except Bruno's room, unfortunately), but he decided to sleep in Isabela's room, of which she didn't take very kindly to. She gently shooed him out.
Unbeknownst to her, and I forgot to mention this in my last post, Oscar can open doors. So Isabela woke up to the cat in her room (again), specifically in her bed, but with a tree branch of jacarandas in his paws.
"Is this... For me?" She asked. The kitten nodded, purring. Isabela no longer disliked him. She wanted him in the family.
It didn't start out as his best day. Nobody in the Encanto wanted him. Nobody wanted a pet in their home. Oscar sprang out of Luisa's arms, crying, sprinting as fast as his legs could take him, back to Casita.
Everyone notices him bolting into the house crying.
He hides and continues crying under Mirabel's bed.
She finds him and hears him sniffling (This part right here is inspired by that scene in the beginning with Mirabel and Antonio). She goes under the bed with him and comforts him. It goes something like this:
"Nobody wanted to adopt you, huh?" She asked him. The kitten swallowed the lump in his throat back before nodding. "¿He hecho algo, he dicho algo (Have I done something, said something)?" He whispered, trying his best not to break down in front of Mirabel.
She slung her arm around the kitten and pulled him close. "I'm sure you didn't say or do anything to hurt anybody." She said, stroking his back. "Some people... Don't want a gato. Not everyone can own one."
The kitten's ears seemed to wilt as he signed through his nose. Perhaps Mirabel tiene razón. It was estúpido of him to think that a small comunidad like this one might want a gato to be a part of their lives. Let alone a gato like him.
"But..." Mirabel said, snapping the gatito out of his thoughts. He looked up at her with a hopeful glint in his dewy eyes. "There is this family who could really use an animal in the house."
His left ear folded on its own. "Which one is it?" He asked. Mirabel smirked, but didn't answer. "Meet me in the courtyard and you'll find out. I have a surprise for you~."
Ah, yes. The courtyard. Where the entire family could see him. And they did.
The entire family saw them.
They watched him look at Mirabel with curiosity in his eyes.
They watched Mirabel kneel down to his level.
They watched as Mirabel told him to close his eyes and hold his head up...
They watched as Mirabel put a bright red collar around the kitten's neck.
And they watched with heartfelt smiles as he took everything in. She just put a collar on him. And everyone in this family seems to love him. So... Could it be?
"Mira... Does this mean...?"
"Whaddya say? You wanna be a part of this family... Oscar?"
His breath hitched. Tears welled up in his eyes once again. "You... Wanna adopt me?"
Mirabel opened up her arms for a hug. Slowly, it all came together. She wouldn't have put a collar on him if they didn't wanna keep him.
For months, since he had to go his separate ways with his parents and twin sister, he has yet to find a home. One with company, food, water, warm shelter... It appears as though he just found that home.
With that said, Oscar Madrigal lunged into his new prima's arms, accepting the crushing embrace that followed.
From this day forward, he would be known as Oscar Madrigal.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
In case anybody wanted to know, it was Antonio's idea to name him Oscar.
His middle name is Silvio. So his full name is Oscar Silvio Madrigal.
He gets his gift when he turns one year old.
I'm REALLY hoping you enjoyed this little drabble I conjured up!

"Once Upon A Time In Colombia" lore about Oscar you didn't know about.
Oscar is ticklish.
His most vulnerable spots are the ears, his stomach/ribcage, and his back feet.
His most feared lers are Mirabel, Camilo, Bruno, And Isabela.
That's it. That's the post.
Tagging @featherlight-touches because I know how much you love tickles 😉😉😉 Oscar is my Encanto cat OC, by the way.

Oscar: I woke up and chose VIOLENCE. I WILL COMMIT ARSON AND BURN EVERYTHING TO THE GROUND!!! I AM ANGRY—
Isabela: Awww, you’re so adorable! Give me a hug!
Oscar: Wh-What? nO, yOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE SCARED OF ME! TREMBLE BEFORE MY WRATH—
Luisa, recording: This is so cute.
Oscar, to Luisa, pissed: You foolish mortal! You shall RUE THE NAY DAY YOU UNDERESTIMATE MY POWER!
Mirabel: *picks Oscar up*
Oscar: What is this? Are YOU going to embarrass me now?
Mirabel: *gives Oscar a kiss on the cheek*
Oscar four seconds later: *tears up* You're my second-in-command.

You can't tell me that this hasn't happened before.
Dolores: *minding her own business*
Camilo: Hey, Dolores, check this out!
Camilo: *chucks an arepa like a frisbee disc*
Oscar: *chases it, jumps, and catches the arepa in his mouth.*
Oscar: It's like playing a game and having a snack at the same time! Your brother is a genius! *fist bumps Camilo*
Dolores, impressed that her brother has the family cat trained: Are you a cat or a dog?
Oscar, knowing damn well that he's a cat: I don't really know!
Tawney, in the distance: *laughing his tail off*
Camilo and Dolores: *also laughing*

Sometimes my cat and I have little staring contests where they usually end with my cat surprise jumping at me, causing me to ultimately lose. These staring contests last as long as two and a half minutes to three minutes.
Imagine that, except with Oscar and *insert one of the grandchildren*, with the latter accusing Oscar of cheating every time he does it, which is almost every time.
I'll be honest, the first time Bruno tried it, GOD did he jump and shout.
They all retaliated by doing the exact same thing to him.
Nowadays, he does it less; The chances of him doing it now are SLIM. But never ZERO.
Sincerely, a person who owns two [black] cats.

Another Adorable Incorrect Quote!
*Luisa takes Oscar off her lap so she can continue working*
Oscar: Cousin... Is evil? Unyielding? Incapable of love? I am packing my little rucksack and going to explore the world as a lone vagabond. I can no longer thrive in this household...
Also Oscar: *shrugs and wanders off to bother someone else for attention*

[Description: Just to clarify in case it's confusing. This is an alternative universe. The Mirabel here isn't the same as the one in the movie, as you can probably tell from the end. She had a lot of bitterness and jealously since she was little. She doesn't care for the family, or have a close relationship with the Casita. So when she says sorry to it (since she is one of the reasons it broke), she doesn't actually mean it. Also when she says 'If I can't have a gift, then no one can', it's similar to her saying if 'I'm normal then everyone will be as well.' And unlike in the movie I had the candle start to come to life again, because there wouldn't be a point in Mirabel crushing it if it was already out. I know the video itself is less than a minute so it's hard to figure out the story. So I hope this helps a little if anyone becomes confused ❤️]
Found this on my YouTube Recommended page and thought I'd share it.
For anyone who actually cares, I feel like this is something Oscar would do; except he'd throw the candle on the ground in a white-hot rage after the Casita fell and Mirabel disappeared.
He'd never become a villain, though. He's too pure-hearted.

"It's Not Your Fault."
It's been a few days since Casita was rebuilt and the magic was restored, but Oscar has been struggling with the guilt of past events. It's up to his prima to give him the closure he so desperately needs—and help him realize there was never anything he needed to apologize for.
I decided that Oscar and Dolores haven't interacted much at all in "Once Upon A Time In Colombia," so this is gonna be a Dolores/Oscar short story. I suggest reading THAT first before reading this.
I think I'll tag @lafamilia-madrigal just for the heck of it!
Tumblr media
Oscar shifted his position on the bed in Dolores' room. It had been a couple days since he and Mirabel got the magic back, but their 'new' home hadn't felt as comfortable as usual. The feline looked down at his paws, folded, and tried to think of anything, anything but—
"Hey, Oscar."
Oscar was startled out of her daze by Dolores' greeting as she walked past him. He quickly put on his "happy-kitty-face" and greeted her back. As soon as his cousin left him alone, Oscar's pasted on smile slowly faded, and he went back to thinking.
How could he bear to smile at her like nothing changed? Sure, she'd seemingly held no grudge to her for running away, but how could he know for certain? Oscar rested his head on his paw, trying to hold himself back from crying.
What he didn't see, though, was that Dolores had never really left the room. Since the Encanto was restored, she could tell Oscar was upset over something. And peering around the corner at his sunken, dejected posture, she needed to know what.
"Oscar?" She asked, causing him to jump.
"Yeah, Dolores?" He answered, smiling a smile too fake for her to handle. "Please, drop the act. I know something's wrong." she said tersely, putting her hands to her hips. "Now tell me."
Oscar blinked, not wanting to say anything yet wanting to say so much at the same time. But all he ended up being able to do was whisper-shout, as to not cause Dolores any pain, "I can't!" He held his head in his paws, trying to calm the pent-up panic that'd been building for a week.
"What? Why not?"
Finally he broke, crying out, "BECAUSE YOU ALL HATE ME ENOUGH ALREADY!" before bursting into tears.
Dolores looked at him, agape, trying to figure out what he meant. She didn't hate him. She never hated him. Shs couldn't hate him. Nobody in the Encanto hates him. Dolores sat on the bed next to Oscar. Why, he couldn't possibly mean...
"Oscar, what are talking about?" She reached out to touch his shoulder, only for the cat to push her gentle hand away.
"What are YOU talking about?" Oscar shot back. "Isn't it obvious?!" He wiped at the tears running down his cheeks and turned away from her, sighing. "How can you even stand me, Dolores?" He whispered.
"Oscar, I..." Dolores began, not knowing what to say.
"I mean, it was my fault Casita fell in the first place," Oscar said, his voice rising slightly again. "And that wouldn't have ever happened if I wasn't such a coward to help it. And I wouldn't be a coward if I just shut up and listened."
He was trying to restrain himself from yelling now.
"And if I just shut up and listened sometimes, maybe I would've seen what a horrible cat I've been!" Oscar took a deep breath, and said shakily, "I just don't know why any of you even gave me a chance. You were all so happy when I came home, and I... I'm not even someone worthy of that." He turned back toward her, not bothering to even try and stop his crying now.
Dolores, heartbroken at Oscar's self-contempt, held his shoulders and said, "Oscar, you know that's not true. It's not your fault. None of it. You've made mistakes, but everyone does." She smiled, beginning to get choked up herself. "And that's the point, isn't it? We learn from our mistakes, and that's what makes us better. And it might not always be great, but I know that you'll always be there when I need you." She blinked at the tears coming from her now. "I just hope you feel the same way about the rest of us."
Without warning, Oscar lunged forward and wrapped himself around Dolores. "I do," he said. After recovering from the start, Dolores returned his embrace.
"I'm so sorry, Dolores."
"It's okay. It's in the past now."
Then, for the first time in a while, Oscar truly smiled. "Te quiero, Dolores..." He whispered. Dolores hugged him tighter.
"Yo también te quiero, Oscar."
I don't think you guys truly understand hOW MUCH OSCAR LOVES DOLORES.
I might make more of these short stories with the other grandchildren... And possibly the triplets.

Post-OUATIC fact to tug at your heartstrings.
The people who read it might know that Oscar didn't get his original gift (Super Speed) back like everyone else did.
But just because he didn't get his original gift back... Doesn't mean he didn't get one back. He got a different gift when Casita was rebuilt.
And that gift, my friends...
Is immortality. He can feel pain, he can and probably will age, but he can't die.
But there's more to it than that. There are side effects.
He can transmit his immortality powers to others by biting them, whether it be a small prick or an actual bite. He bites you, and you are now incapable of dying. You have the same power/side effects he does. However, the people OSCAR bit can't bite OTHER PEOPLE for them to be immortal. Oscar has to be the one that bites.
By now, he's bitten his entire family, Tawney included, ONCE, meaning the Madrigal family is now immortal. He's also bitten Fuerza and Mariano. They're all immortal.
And NOBODY knows it... and in this case, that's probably for the best.
And it gets kinda dark when you realize that the whole family's gonna live forever and survive just about everything.
Are you crying yet?

"Imagine this..."
#2
You remember how I described Oscar as someone who wears a ruana?
Well, you know who else wears a ruana?
That's right. Our best boi, Camilo.
Camilo and Oscar are ruana bros. And believe me when I tell you, that before Oscar had his own ruana, he'd wear Camilo's. Whether it be because he just loves ruanas, or because he wants to mess with his primo.
Allow me to show you the history behind Oscar's ruana (aka Some Oscar lore that no one asked for):
Camilo: Anyone seen my ruana? I can't find it anywhere.
Dolores: I think I saw Oscar walk by with it on.
Oscar: *walks in wearing Camilo's ruana* Methinks it's a smidgen too big. *trips on it*
Camilo, laughing, takes his ruana off the cat and puts it on, resulting in a slightly grumpy and jealous kitty cat.
Little did he know that Mirabel just so happened to see that tender moment and decided to make Oscar his own.
And she gave it to him a week prior to his gift ceremony.
He gave her countless hugs and kisses, he was so happy. Everyone in the Encanto loved it as much as he did, thinking that he looked handsome, charming, good in blue, etc.
Oscar deemed it even more special because Mirabel, who might as well be his adoptive sister, made it.
And as a result, he never took it off.

I'm starting a series called "Imagine this..."!
How it works: If you have any scenarios and/or questions regarding my Encanto OC, Oscar, then I will gladly answer them!
Or I'll just add one of my own...
Either way, this is meant to be fun! Get those creative juices flowing! I'll accept just about any genre, but I'm leaning more towards Angst and Hurt/Comfort. But definitely consider Humor/Comedy!
For example...
Q: How would Oscar react to a VR game?
And your answer:
Oscar's paranoid ass, getting ready to play Job Simulator:
You see, that’s the thing. It PROBABLY is fine. It’s PROBABLY 100% okay. There are PROBABLY no spiders in this headset. BUT—as you may be able to relate to—If you find a spider in your headset, and then have to put that headset on to play video games...
YoU jUsT dOnT gEt ToO cOMfOrTaBlE.
So, um... Yeah... Feel free to invade my ask box!
