The 8th TodoDeku Week will be July 9-15, 2023!

Re: suits, there are hundreds of different types of suits, but the most common cuts are british, american and italian. I could see Lando (aka would love to see) most likely in an italian cut (slim tailoring on trousers and jacket, unstructured shoulders, light cloth (not colour but fabric) also looks very nice with an open collar and no tie...). Typical big brand names here are Zegna, Armani or Attolini, I personally love Kiton and Brioni as well, but just googling itlian cut suits should show some good results.
For Oscar, I would adore a (for once) properly tailored brutish cut suit (higher waistline for the trousers, more structure in the shoulders, tapered waist, thicker fabrics). Maybe even make it a proper three-piece bc ever since the wetsuit pics from Australia, I think we all agree that those curves need to be shown more often. Examples here are Ted Baker, Dunhill and ofc everything Savile row.
Tho if we keep with the Mclaren sponsors, Reiss does some great work as well. There's a double-breasted tuxedo jacket in this year's collection that I would love to see Lando in (then again tuxedos are a whole nother topic ...)

i know you were self conscious about writing at length about this but all i have to say is: yes. here is some additional photographic evidence from my POV;
lando in snazzy italian tailoring, but to take the stylised vector a bit further:
exhibit a: asymmetric waistcoat with steampunk details
exhibit b: italian but with a fun pattern
exhibit c: open collar a step further, he could so rock a 70s suit. also just really need him to rock the gucci glasses with some shiny loafers like he’s sooooo got that vibe. im thinking how bruno mars and harry styles wear that kind of suiting sometimes
now to our elusive chanteuse f1 driver oscar jack. i feel like it’s, like what you described, about a classic style but with really fine details. good fabrics, simple cuts, plain colourways. below is pretty stylised but also this is rpf and it’s my playground and if we were claiming realism we should just put the rpf toys down full stop and i am not doing that!!
if taking a costume designer’s perspective too, there could be soooo much you could say with layering and pattern and contrast depending where we are in the story or plot. the idea of fic!oscar in a classic brit cut suit with tiny revealing details like a handkerchief (lando’s) or a button (a nod to a family member or a friend) is very dear to me.
the other option i like is a classic tux jacket with tails and crisp shirt and a a sky blue handkerchief, like idk that image also tickles me for some reason.
anyway so i had been thinking about a tailor AU- *loud scuffling noise as i try to put wayward au ideas back in their box*

Huehehhehhehehehhehehehehhe
ITS T I M E .
TIME FOR THE STEAMPUNK AU, LETS GET TO IT!
SP! Oscar:
- Grows up in the slums of Mistral
- A Scared homeless kid running around with another homeless junk robot girl.
- Oscar has a bit more of a Robin Hood philosophy, but it more focuses on himself and Penny than others.
- Knows how to pickpocket really well, but ends up giving it back to the person he pickpocketed.
- Pulls this with particularly rich people.
- Scenario:
*Oscar pickpockets a Rich Mistrelian*
Oscar: u-uh sir! Did you drop this? *shows the mans wallet*
Man: what’re you doing with that?!
Oscar: I-I saw you drop it, I didn’t take anything I swear! I just wanted to give it back to you!
Man: *looks to check if anything is missing* y’know? You’re different from those other street rats, here, have some lien for being one of the few decent ones who know not to steal *hands him 500 lien*
- He gets money for being a ‘good’ kid.
- Ozpin ends up being one of the people Oscar pickpockets but isn’t dumb enough to not notice what Oscar is doing.
- Ozpin later adopts the two and Oscar is in amazement at how much money this strange man has. Qrow much later shows up.
- Oscar doesn’t trust Oz as quickly as Penny does.
- Oz takes interest in how great Oscar is with tinkering
- Oscar finds Oz to be
- Weird
- But he appreciates Oz nonetheless
- Was sold by his parents to the Mistral black market when he was 3.
- He does not care at all for finding his parents.
- Knows his way around the Mistral black market because of this
- Managed to escape with Penny who was also sold.
SP! Penny:
- Was created among another batch of androids.
- When she started exhibiting emotions and opinions she was deemed “flawed junk” and sold to the Mistral black market for parts.
- Found Oscar and managed to get out of the market with him.
- Didn’t have a name before she met Oscar:
“*breathing hard after running for a very long time* So, what’s your name?”
“My...name?”
“Yeah, you got one?”
“I have a few, Junk, Trash, Parts, Flawed.”
“Excuse me, What??”
“That’s what they called me...”
“Well those names suck!”
“...”
“Do you want a new one?”
“What?”
“A new name. Do you want me to give you a new name?”
“...ok, what were you thinking?”
“Penny. Penny Polendina”
“I like that name”
“Me too.”
- Oscar helps work on her parts when she breaks down
- learns how to be her own person without deeming herself to be an Android.
- has to hide her hands and face as to not be caught as a flawed android.
SP! Ozpin:
- this man is weird
- he’s friendly but he’s weird.
- a bit eccentric.
- mad scientist man who loves kids with a passion and hates people who hurt kids, with a passion.
- Was not at all pleased to hear what Oscars parents did to him.
- Wasn’t happy to hear about what happened to Penny either.
- g a y
- no matter what AU he’s G A Y:
P: “Do you have a wife?”
Os: “*gritted teeth* Penny you’re not supposed to ask that! That can be seen as rude!”
P: “sorry...”
Os: “it’s ok, just keep that in mind”
Oz: “don’t worry about it! I don’t mind the question, but no. I do not have a wife.”
Os: “so you live by yourself?”
Oz: “Ah! I said I don’t have a wife! Not that I didn’t have a spouse.”
P: “what do you mean?”
Oz: “I have a husband, a quiet man, he has a soft spot for kids too! He may seem a bit scary at first but I promise he’s friendly!”
Os: “What’s his name?”
Oz: “I guess you’ll have to find that out when you meet him”
P: “no fair!”
- Ozpin works on weapons for Vale
- Nobody knows a whole lot about him.
BONUS! SP! Qrow:
- He doesn’t show up until much later.
- Was busy taking care of a hoard of grimm attacking a city
- Internally panics when he sees two children in his house.
- “Oz, what did you do?”
- He gets along well with them
- teaches Penny how to be her own person
- teaches Oscar not to hold onto too much of his resentment towards his parents
- He’s tired, a lot
- Tired bird dad who loves his kids and husband.
- has prosthetic legs.
- likes to take off prosthetic legs in front of Oz just to mess with him.
- “Qrow come on, dinner is on the table”
- *Qrow takes his legs off*

Details about my AU under the cut
There’s a lot of things that don’t make sense so don’t think about their motives too hard
-oscar is an orphan and he gets adopted by ozpin
-ozpin is [an important public figure]
-he also works with like-a criminal organization or somet
-it’s like a double life that oscar doesn’t know about at first
-it’s like a double life that oscar doesn’t know about at first
-ozpin has a lab in his basement where he and glynda work
-they’re building penny to be a guardian of some sort
-there are grimm spreading disease through the city
-but the general public think the grimm are necessary
-it’s like-a method of control from the higher ups or something idk i haven’t thought it through that well
-grimm look like more smoky creatures than in canon and not as bony
-oscar eventually finds oz’s lab
-ozpin reveals his secrets and oscar becomes his apprentice
-with his help they’re able to complete building penny faster than expected
-yeah oscar turns out to be some sort of engineering prodigy
-qrow is a plague doctor type person and secretly fights off the grimm
-his mask protects him from the grimm because it’s magic
-it also protects his identity so he doesn’t get arrested (we’re gonna ignore that his clothes are the same)
-the grimm are also magic so it’s not just like you can plug your nose and avoid being affected
-qrow will bring ozpin bits and pieces to help with his inventions since it would be suspicious if ozpin himself brought tools into his home
-jauques is a sort of inspector and also the main person trying to keep the grimm
-whitley is his apprentice and is sent one day to inspect ozpin’s house
-something something Oscar helps convert him to the good guys side
-OH ALSO there’s probably a fire in Ozpin’s lab at some point caused by cinder and it’s very tragic
