Cinema viewers of a certain age will recall all too well the sights, sounds and smells of a mid-1990s package holiday. The FILA trackies, the lukewarm beers, the dodgy looking flumes, the beige and blue quilted bedspreads and the ubiquitousness of the Macarena. It evokes a very specific type of memory – buffet breakfasts, days whiled away by the pool and the inevitable heat-related falling out or…
i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

It’s funny to think that pre-lockdown, I was so strict about keeping up to date with films. I would always try and watch the Oscar nominees before the ceremony. These days, I’m lucky is I see anything that isn’t streaming on Netflix or Disney+. So, I’m really behind with the biggest releases. When I was looking for something to watch this week, I found this on Amazon…
It may be a new year, however, Gaza is continuously experiencing genocide. Right now women and children are the main victims. As you can see it is very do-able to spread the word whilst being on theme of your blog so there is no excuse. The smallest of contributions we can make are:
- To use our platforms to spread awareness about what is being inflicted on Palestinians. Not posting about it does not mean that it is no longer happening.
- To avoid posting about rich mediocre celebrities that have either, shown support for Zionism, spread misinformation or have not uttered a word about what’s happening, simply because they showed up for fashion week or any major event.
- Boycotting businesses has proven to be effective. Many corporations have lost billions because of their blatant support for the genocide in Gaza. We live in a capitalist society, but we also have collective power. Both of which has made boycotting that much easier.
You know, it would be amazing if Hollywood learned the right lesson from the success of Nimona. Something like "Hey, maybe don't throw out a nearly done movie as a tax write off" or "people want queer stories" or even "don't be afraid to take some storytelling risks and be original" but you just know they're going to come away with some absolutely batshit takeaway like, "next time delete all the evidence and burn it to the ground so the gays can't make us look bad!"
What’s extra funny about Nimona getting an Oscar nom instead of Disney’s Wish is that the former does a far more masterful job of capturing the “storybook” 2-D style with its stylized 3-D animation than the latter, which was one of its big marketing hooks.
Suzanne collins is a certified GENIUS because by making most of the book about the PUBLICITY of the rebellion and not the fight itself, she was telling us that wars are won by who persuades more- who controls the narrative .
