#i'm stuck in the airport in chicago #waiting for a new plane to get here because ours had “technical issues” #which like yes if it has technical issues im glad they didn't have us fly on that plane #but my three hour layover has turned into a five hour layover #i can drive there in five hours!!! #it is less than three hours by train!! #but amtraks on some fuck shit out here in bumfuck nowhere #more trains less planes less cars #i hope they give us snacks

i was gonna write today but then my washing machine AND my dishwasher broke within THREE HOURS OF EACH OTHER last night so it's looking like instead of writing about bily yoongi i will have to be a bily yoongi today.

#my homeosexual audacity is telling me that i can totally take apart my washingmachine so #it's just the pump motor #i watched two youtube videos and it's just screws aparently #i can keep track of where things go and use a screwdriver so it can't be that hard. #the dishwasher is a little bit easier to fix but involves driving to home depot to pick up plumbers putty. #we've been having a bit of a mouse issue in my house which usually happens in the winter time for a little bit #and one of the fuckers nibbled the outtake hose #it's only a small little hole but last night it made our basment flood. #like it litterally sounded like the shower was on down there #luckily our basement is gutted at the moment so there was no wood to be damaged and it's just concrete

very funny that one of the main responses to the lizzo fat-shaming accusations is “but SHE’S fat!!!” as if internalized fatphobia doesn’t exist. like, you do realize that fat people have had that worldview beaten into them by literally every single person around them their entire lives, and famous fat people even more so. celebrity body positivity is so frequently performative — less about genuinely feeling positively about your body and other bodies that look like yours, more about trying to claw your way to having value in the eyes of society through any means possible. it’s out of spite and the desire to fit in. it’s not about conventional beauty not mattering, it’s about trying to expand the lens of societal atttactiveness to include you. lizzo was never trying to dismantle beauty standards as a concept, as a hierarchical way of perceiving society, as a value system. she just wanted to be valued within it — and that’s understandable, because we all want that, we all need to feel desired and worthwhile and valuable. but the best way for an outsider to become an insider is to know the hierarchy inside and out, then to enforce it yourself. if you’re able to gatekeep beauty and value from others, that implies you have access to it yourself. the only way for fat people to be valued within modern societal beauty constraints is to carve out a spot within that hierarchy and guard it with your life. i’m sorry if this is news to people, but so long as our perceptions of beauty remain the same, fat people will never be viewed as equally human — and especially fat women will never be viewed as equally woman. our beauty constraints are premised on a dehumanization of fatness. there is no way to exist as a fat person within that sphere without perpetuating those constraints yourself to prove to skinny people that you deserve to be there. this is why celebrity body positivity is so infrequently helpful long-term or big-picture — it’s not about setting all bodies equal to one another, it’s about raising your particular body equal to those at the top of the hierarchy. so of course lizzo bodyshamed her employees, her backup dancers, her assistants — that’s exactly what enabled her to become a “voice” for “body positivity.” without a position of power in that hierarchy, not only would her calls for body positivity not be heard, they likely wouldn’t exist in the first place; how are you going to feel positive about your body in our ever-competitive pyramid of beauty unless you have people below you to feel better than?

#admittedly i don’t know much about the lizzo drama but i’ve just seen so many tweets flabbergasted that she could possibly fatshame #guess those people just buy into celebrity body positivity wholeheartedly #actually i don’t know much about lizzo in general. i just know that no popstar in our current society has a worldview unaltered by female #beauty standards and that very much includes her. #if your body positivity is ‘i’m sexy too’ and not ‘why is my worth premised on my desirability’ then it’s not actual body positivity at all #like you are still maintaining that the male gaze is the determinant of worth. you are not revolutionary. you are insecure #and SO AM I! like i’m throwing bricks from a glass fucking house. i am the same exact way like i have a lot of issues w body stuff and zero #‘body positivity’ to speak of. but i am aware of my internalized preoccupation with male desire i am aware that i have a skewed perspective #rooted in misogyny i am aware and working on it. so it just drives me crazy to see women clearly as insecure & focused on male validation as #i am framing their appeals to said male validation as body positivity. like you can’t heal if you don’t see the wound #idk if any of this made sense. whatevs sorry #just rambling here #but yeah no it makes perfect sense to me that lizzo would body shame #why? because that is the only way to feel like you belong in a system that inherently excludes you #lizzo #long post

i find people who include fantasy racism, sexism and homophobia in their rewrites for ‘added drama’ and ‘issues’ are extremely unoriginal and lacking creativity. if your go to conflict is always fascism just because you have no creativity to try and come up with anything else besides what you know and is obviously ingrained in your brain, you should sit down and think why your go to awnser is always fascism.

#ooookay #so uh #I can understand this sentiment when directed at ppl who have no expierence being discriminated against in a particular way #and still write a story abt that discrimination #like a white person adding fantasy racism to their story #however #people often use fiction as a means of exploring or explaining our world in a way that can be more digestible to the viewer #and gay person creating a fantasy story thay focusses on a world with homophobia and how that impacts those living in it #is not adding it for 'drama' #they are commentating on the state of our world which has homophobia #maybe someone's first way to explore conflict in a story is via bigotry because they have expierenced bigotry so often in their life #they view it as one of the major driving forces in their circumstances or perspective #to belittle writing that depicts real world issues as 'adding drama' shows to me that there is a lack of reading comprehension on your part #if your first instinct when faced with a story that includes an oppressed class being oppressed is 'stop add drama' #I think you need to reevaluate some things #one the number one pieces of writing advice you hear is 'write what you know' #who are u to say someone should be more 'creative' than that #aphmau confessions #aphmau #aphblr #aphverse #fandom angies #angies #instead of being mad maybe consider WHY an author may choose to add those things to a story #maybe u want fiction for escapism and that's why it bothers you #but not everyone goes to fiction for that purpose #sometimes they want to vent issues via a story or explain to someone why smth is a problem while excluding as much bias as possible #hence the fantasy setting and depiction of oppression #🤭

I've basically been moving non-stop all day for a week (except Monday when I went to the doctor, and then the antibiotics were mean to me), everything hurts, but hey at least my room is somewhat close to being finished!

now there's just everything else left to do....

I've also had to deal with builders and electricians and a painter and I don't remember who else every day this week. I think I did alright. didn't have a panic attack or anything, it didn't even make me very anxious. so that's good! but I want to be left alone for several months now please 🙃

#I'm sorry for not replying to messages etc. I'm SO tired #and I only have a phone signal in the living room.... which is where alllll of the boxes are. so I don't really spend time there #there's some people coming by from the ISP (again) next week. maybe they'll at least be able to tell us when we can expect to have internet #also we got our washing machine today!! I love it so much. I'm so glad we didn't take the old broken one with us. I mean it did technically #work in that it washed things. but if you have to constantly stand next to it to press a button every time it gives an error messages that #is not very convenient #we put my bed in my room today!! so I'll get to sleep all on my own for the first time since January 😭 I'm so excited #I love the cats SO much and I'll still let them sleep in my room sometimes (once the rest of the apartment is safe for them to go into) #but man I already have so many issues sleeping.
