this one tiny moment killed me

frenchie is a good guy, but he always felt a bit less emotionally connected to the others, and he had a strong sense of self-preservation. he's the one who suggested to "bottle it up" in s1 and who told us about repressing his trauma in s2

but here, where absolutely everything is on the line, in a scene where everyone else is just an onlooker, frenchie is only thinking of izzy's safety in that moment

it's such a small gesture and i cannot stop thinking about it

No cause the possibility of Frenchie and Izzy being a thing in canon isn't that farfetched in my opinion.

Cause okay when season 2 happens it might take a while for both crewmates and captains to reunite. Meaning that we'll probably have scenes from each side of the ordeal.

Ed's crew isn't a lot, as in, there's not many main crew members as Stede's crew(that is also a neat detail I want to talk about in a later post). The only crew from Ed's that normally pop up are Fang, Ivan, and obviously Izzy plus now Frenchie and Jim. That's it.

So if we were to have scenes from both Stede and Ed's POV that means that Izzy will interact with Frenchie and Jim a lot more than in season 1.

Way more Izzy and Frenchie interactions.

Obviously it probably won't be a canon ship(however it could be possible ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), but the scenes would be neat.

-Them making worried/snarky remarks about Ed's behavior

-Frenchie asking/worrying about Izzy's toe or emotional structure.

-Izzy complaining about his singing and playing but not knowing how to defend himself.

-another scene where Frenchie makes up a scheme and it works!

-Frenchie being his superstitious self and Izzy getting annoyed

-Frenchie saying "Iz" more maybe even calling him babe like he does to everyone else.

please in season 2 can frenchie become ed’s therapist. for obvious reasons it can’t be lucius.

but as ed starts slowly coming out of his shell again, he starts opening up to frenchie and frenchie gives really bland advice because he doesn’t really know much about love and all that. but ed still takes it all to heart and for some reason is getting better because of it. 

frenchie just seems so easy to talk to honestly, he’d listen to you and find a way to comfort you. 

ed just really needs that person to rant to, and realise he can live with out stede. but my god it would be so much better if he was in his arms. 

and when ed tells frenchie about the kiss frenchie is juust shocked and goes

“wait that was your first kiss?” 

because he had totally convinced himself they’ve done it at least a few times and were just trying to hide it

Overthinking: Frenchie & Cats

in s1 our crew is tasked with making a pirate flag which ends up serving as an interesting little insight into what they consider "scary". pretty much everyone makes something skeleton based, except frenchie and his cat flag.

s2 arrives and we see frenchie decked out in his new kraken-era outfit. we get these little glimpses and think, 'is that a cat?' it's hard to tell.

but then we get more cat. frenchie's new weapon of choice looks like a literal version of a cat with knives in their feet.

it honestly did not occur to me at first that frenchie sewed the cat onto his new outfit because his past sewing projects haven't been that spectacular in terms of their technical prowess.

but then we get the new flag of the revenge. and it's frenchie's cat.

so to weather the kraken-era, frenchie becomes his own worst nightmare, the embodiment of what he considers "evil" and "terrifying".

frenchie has made it clear for two seasons that his coping skill is simply not acknowledging the terrible things he experiences (bottle it up / put it in a box).

then the kraken-era ends. and instead of putting it in a box and never thinking about it again, he makes the cat the new symbol of the ship and we get to watch him happily unveil it while izzy whittles his wooden shark.

i'm feeling very normal about the pirate show, thanks for asking.

This is just me spewing my thought that has been brewing for a couple days now about Frenchie and his box. I would write this but I am in a writing rut right now.

Now I'm just thinking about a scenario that what if there's just small cracks in the box and something happens that just sends him over the edge, a bottle smashes (a throwback to season 1-ep 1 when he says, "bottle it up") showing that his box is now shattered and he just breaks down, commence the hurt/comfort.
