so, i still kinda got a soft spot for pj's daycare despite.........everything. i dunno a bunch of babu sanses is pretty fuckin adorable

now that i said that, let's tear apart some depictions of the characters in the series (i'm kinda basing this off some of my personal headcanons)

let's start with ink, i fucking hate how ink is this quiet shy boi. that's not my ink. from what i've learned about him, he should've either a. be a skeleton version of mable from gravity falls or b. be an emotionaless being that keeps to himself. just....not the quiet shy skeleton

i don't have much to say about fresh (cuz i don't know that much about him) but from what i've gathered from him, shouldn't he be like stuck in the 90's? 80's? idk. like, shouldn't he be the one annoying kid no one likes but once you talk to him, he's actually a pretty chill person? again, i don't know much about him but something just annoys me with how he's portrayed

i do not know where he is, BUT WHERE IN THE FUCK IS NIGHTMARE?????? small nitpick but you CANNOT have dream and no nightmare. that should be undertale au fandom rule number fuckin one. DO NOT SEPARATE THE BROTHERS- (watch, he actually did show up and i look like a fucking idiot)

geno. ohhhhh geno, what'd they do to you? why is he such a brat to his brothers? just why? i know very little of his backstory but i know he would not be acting like that with them. he'd actually be a bit overprotective of them cuz he wouldn't want to let them go. or maybe he'd be laid back, again i know very little of his backstory. but fuck this depiction of him. i hate it

error's fine until he gets into a "marriage" with ink. idk. error should just be pure tantrum child

sans is also fine, i just wish his main character trait wasn't just eepy

i think that's about it. lemme know if i missed anything or got some things wrong. or maybe add on some things

i might do a rewrite of the series. maybe not. i'm not sure tho

Okay so y'all know PJ's daycare or wtv the fuck?? I'm not even gonna lie it RUINED Paperjam as a character for me.

The weird pedo shit with baby Fresh being all crushy with one of the adults, the one "IT'S BECAUSE I'M BLACK ISN'T IT?" joke that rubbed me the wrong way ever since I was a kid. Idk it just kind of killed Paperjam for me. That fucking series killed a lot of characters for me.

Honestly, if I wasn't infatuated with Fresh before I got into PJ'S daycare, I think he would have been spoiled for me too, cuz that whole arc of the weird sort of will they/won't they thing with a CHILD AND AN ADULT always made me feel weird. Even as a like 7 year old watching that shit, it was so weird. I personally think, while it is good to portray bad and uncomfortable situations in fiction, that it was handled there in poor taste. I think it was PJ baby Fresh was after? Anyways, whatever adult Fresh was after, it was portrayed at WORST as a nuisance to the adult. They even joked about baby Fresh being the adult's "little boyfriend", if I'm remembering correctly.

To be fair, though, I haven't watched that series in a good 8 years, and I don't feel comfortable going through and finding it again. So I really haven't done any extra research for this, it's mostly just spouting feelings into a read more.

so here's the rewrite for the bois

pj is more of the laid back and kinda jerky type (i just made that the fuck up). think of him as a slightly meaner version of amethyst from steven universe. he doesn't really hate the kids, he's just really really tired of them. he swears those kids'll be the death of him someday

and then we have gradient. the more encouraging type. think of him as a more carefree version of pearl. not too overprotective but just cautious enough to make sure the kids are safe. unfortunately for him, the kiddos don't know the meaning of safe. and by kiddos, i mean fluffy cuz jesus christ, someone put her on a leash. wether it'd be her running with scissors or nearly getting her head chopped off by horror, gradient's always have to make she doesn't turn to dust at the age of 6

overall, taking care of the kids ain't no easy task
