Writeblr Introduction
Tumblr media
Please reblog!
Hello Writeblr! I'm oliveScales, and I'm currently writing and illustrating my webcomic named "The Forgotten Legends of Chima", or TFLOC for short.
I'm a fan of mythology and folklore, and I'm trying to study a few of them for my worldbuilding. Worldbuildings with focus on culture are my favorite! I also really like stories with animals and anthropomorphic characters. I'm an american who enjoys studying other cultures, and am currently studying the Portuguese language!
The Forgotten Legends of Chima is a fantasy science fiction story about the land of Chima, home to eight animal tribes. Here, you'll learn about their cultures, witness intriguing and complex relationships between them, and understand the importance of diversity.
TFLOC is an interpretation of Legends of Chima's storyline, which means that worldbuilding and characters are going to be developed alongside new content to add further depth into the story, such as unimportant/secondary characters becoming important and vital to the story.
Synopsis
In a world where civilizations clash for Chi in order to survive, Laval, prince of the Lion Tribe, strives to overcome every war and all injustice without ever gripping a sword. It all started when Laval witnessed evil and inequality with his own eyes. Since then, he has promised himself to protect anyone, no matter who they are, from suffering and that he will restore peace in the land of Chima. These are the Forgotten Legends of Chima.

According to Biblical scripture, sin is presented as a force that is inherent in human nature, but not insurmountable – a challenge that calls for discipline and spiritual guidance to overcome. Passages like Romans 6:14 assure the faithful, stating, "For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace." This encapsulates the mighty promise that, through faith and the grace extended by God, believers have the power to resist and rule over sin.
Moreover, the Bible teaches that with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, one can exercise self-control, one of the fruits of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23. The letters of the Apostle Paul, especially, delve into the concept of dying to one's sinful nature and being reborn in the spirit of righteousness—a powerful metaphor for the transformative power of faith.
In the book of James, chapter 4, verse 7, the Bible also encourages believers to "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." This passage underscores the importance of willful submission to divine will as a strategy for sin control, promising that with such surrender comes victory over temptation.
Another important scripture, 1 Corinthians 10:13, offers both solace and strategy, affirming that God is faithful and "will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear." This verse speaks volumes about the divine support system in place for those who strive to control sin—it reassures us that there is always a way out or a means to bear up under temptation, empowering every believer with hope and perseverance.
And let us not forget the wisdom of Proverbs, where in chapter 28, verse 13, it is stated, "Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy." In these words lies the promise of forgiveness and renewal—a reminder that acknowledging our wrongdoings is the first step to mastering them.
Unearthing these scriptural treasures gives us invaluable insights into how the Bible directs us to confront and control sin. By turning to these ancient texts, we gain wisdom that continues to guide and inspire countless individuals in their quest for spiritual growth and moral integrity.

Solomon did not follow the wisdom God gave him, he despised it, and this turned his heart away from God.
Knowing and/or teaching moral principles from God’s Word is not enough ~ make sure the teacher has a godly, spiritual life, otherwise we open doors to deception. A teacher must show an ongoing responsibility of putting God’s Word into practice.
That’s why the Bible says “let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.” (James‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬)
God says that if we turn at His reproof, He will pour out His spirit to us and make His Words known to us. (Proverbs 1:23)
He goes on in that chapter (proverbs one) to explain what He will do if we do not turn.
. . .To sum it up, He sort of shuts His heart up to us and lets us have our own way so that we will come to our senses. It’s more detailed and serious than that, but that’s my digest version. 🥹
The number one characteristic of a fool is to hate the knowledge and wisdom God gives - to hate His reproof, His counsel (which is His Word) and being corrected by it.
The word “hate” here is to “turn against it” - “to be its enemy” - so this is the absolutely the opposite of “heeding” His Word, and then some.
God says that the beginning of HIS wisdom is to Fear Him. He doesn’t want us to be afraid of Him - but He does want us to be afraid of the emptiness and fearful state that life is without His face toward us - to fear life outside His will. He will pour out wisdom on us to help us stay in His will when we fear Him.
If you read verses 22-33 of proverbs chapter one, it’s clear that we have plenty of reason to be afraid of God - when we are not turned toward His ways.
He loves us, and there is no depth that He will not allow us to fall, by our own devises - He knows what depth it will take to wake us up.
Clearly He laughs at His enemies, and we would not want you to be His enemy.
Spurning His reproof, despising His counsel (His Word!), and despising His reproof makes us His enemy.
But when we turn to Him - He turns toward us, and with love and grace He restores us and washes us with the water of His Word, and saves us by His counsel. 📖🥹🩷

SEARCHING THE SCRIPTURES
🪴📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈🌴
Every word in Scripture is like a seed. When you sow it in your heart with meditation and pondering, water it with rapt attention, and prune it with questionings and research in the Holy Spirit, it will bloom with revelation and insight causing you to bear the fruit of the spirit.
This is what Martin Luther did. He took the seed of Romans 1:17 and meditated, researched and listened to the Holy Spirit. With that he changed the history of Christianity. When asked how he read his Bible, he replied,
"I study my Bible like I gather apples. First, I shake the whole tree that the ripest may fall. Then I shake each limb, and when I have shaken each limb, I shake each branch and every twig. Then I look under every leaf. I search the Bible as a whole like shaking the whole tree. Then I shake every limb -- study book after book. Then I shake every branch, giving attention to the chapters. Then I shake every twig, or a careful study of the paragraphs and sentences and words and their meanings."
Assuming you are studying about a verse or a chapter, you can look at the context, historical background, maps, culture of the people, Greek/Hebrew words used and the depth of meanings, etc.
_"...If thou seekest her (wisdom from the word) as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God" (Proverbs 2:4-5 KJV)._
I'll want to recommend some Bible softwares for you. You can find an awesome app for deep Bible study called "mysword" for mobile devices. Softwares like PC Study Bible, Powerbible or Esword for the computer.

The Poor Man's Morning and Evening Portions by Robert Hawker
June 26, Morning
"The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way: before his works of old, I was set up from everlasting." — Proverbs 8:22-23
Pause, my soul, over those most blessed words, and see what glories are contained in them. May God the Spirit glorify Christ to thy view while pondering these words! Who is it that speaks them? Is it not wisdom! Even Christ, the wisdom of God, as the apostle elsewhere calls him? But how was he possessed by the Lord, and how set up from everlasting? Not openly in the human form, that he was in the fulness of time to take upon him for the purpose of redemption; but, as it should seem, secretly, as subsisting in covenant engagements from everlasting. Mediator, was it not? Not as yet made flesh, but if we may from another scripture draw the conclusion, "as the image of the invisible God, the first-born of every creature," Colossians 1:15. What a glory, beheld in this view, doth this precious scripture, with all that follows it in the chapter, hold forth! The Son of God, in covenant engagements from everlasting, was in time to take into himself manhood, and from the union of both God and man become one Christ. Hence, from everlasting, wisdom, one of those natures, is set up and speaks as a person, not separate or distinct from the other nature of the Godhead, but as in union, and from both, forming in covenant settlements the one glorious Mediator. So that it is not wisdom, as a person, speaking, without subsisting in the Son of God, neither is it the Son of God without wisdom subsisting as such in him, but both forming one identical person, and that person the Mediator, whose name was then secret, but afterwards was to be called Wonderful, when by the open appearance of the Son of God, tabernacling in a body of flesh, redemption work from everlasting, covenanted for and agreed upon by the several persons of the Godhead, was to be completed. What a blessed contemplation is here opened, my soul, to thy diligent and humble inquiry. Here direct all thy researches; here let prayer ascend for divine teachings to guide thee; and here behold him, who in the after ages of his love, made an open display of himself, as the God-man, when he manifested forth his glory, and his disciples believed on him; thus. as the wisdom-man, declaring himself as possessed by Jehovah in the beginning of his way, and set up before all worlds as Jehovah’s delight, while his delights were with the sons of men. Oh the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the world began!

Psalms chapter 69
1 (To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.) Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.
6 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
7 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.
9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.
12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
16 Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.
18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.
19 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.
20 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.
21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
22 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.
23 Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
24 Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.
25 Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.
26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.
27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness.
28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.
29 But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high.
30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.
31 This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs.
32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.
33 For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein.
35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession.
36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

Job 28:1-30:31, 2 Corinthians 2:12-17, Psalms 42:1-11, Proverbs 22:7
Today is the 28th day of August welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful to be here with you today. We stepped into a brand-new week yesterday and so here we go. We gotta live it now. And what a gift…what a gift that we can. And one of the ways that we find out how to do that is to come around the Global Campfire every day and orient ourselves to God through the Scriptures. And, so, we’re in the right place and we’re here at the right time. And, so, let's do the right thing and take the next step forward. Our next step leads us back to the territory that we’ve been moving through, which is the book of Job. And we will arrive at the conclusion of Job not too many days hence but we’re not there yet. Job and his friends are duking it out about Job's innocence. And we pick up the story today with Job, chapter 28, 29 and 30.
Commentary:
Okay. So, if I walk into my house and my wife is making dinner, and I don't know she's making dinner and I walk into the house I am greeted by the scent of dinner that is being made and that immediately evokes in the whatever it smells like and whatever she makes is delicious. It makes me think about the food that she's preparing and then that's attached to so many other meals throughout all of my life. Or I…I have a have an essential oil diffuser here in the studio. I get my coffee to my left and my essential oil diffuser to my right. And on many days I’ll pour water into that, drop some essential oils into that and flip it on and then I'll…I'll forget about and just kinda get moving into the day, interacting. And at some point I will have…I will have left the room and have returned and will be greeted by this pleasing calming aroma, even to the point that I’ve looked for biblical aromas for my diffuser. I’ve even looked like, how…we should…someday we should figure this out. We should bring this into…into the community. I digress. I leave the room. I come back into the room. I encounter the aroma and the atmosphere is changed in some kind of subtle way. And this isn't like hocus-pocus or anything like, there’s science behind all of this. Like we know that a certain scent at a certain time can take us right back to a certain moment as if like we’re right back there. So, if it's…you know…walking to a house and there's cookies baking and that reminds you of grandma and you’re back there and you’re four again…aroma can change the atmosphere. And before you start thinking about…wow…thanks for that life hack. Thanks for the…thanks for the tip. What had that got to do with the Bible? It just so happens that that's exactly what Paul’s talking about today from the Bible. And, so, I quote the apostle Paul. “I thank God always leads us in victory because of Christ. Wherever we go God uses us to make clear what it means to know Christ. It's like a fragrance that fills the air. To God, we are the aroma of Christ among those who are saved and among those who are dying. To some people we are a deadly fragrance while to others we are a life giving fragrance.” Have you ever thought about your life in those terms before, that you are giving off a fragrance, an aroma whereever you go and people are picking up on it as we interact with each other in the same ways that you pick up on things as you interact with people? I mean, think about it for a second. If they could have a smell, an aroma. What would your words smell like? What atmosphere altering fragrance do your actions give off? Every week we step into a new week and we call it shiny and sparkly and we say it's a reset and we can step into it and we get to live this right. And this is what we’re talking about. Do our thoughts, do our words, do our deeds emit the aroma of Jesus? Do we bring us subtle shift in the atmosphere because the presence of Christ is with us and in us or do we get out of bed and basically spray on the repellent to keep everybody away? Let's give it some thought today. Let's watch ourselves today. Let's think in these terms today as an exercise as a practice. Everything I do, everything that I say is creating the atmosphere that I live in. Do I bring the aroma of Christ? Does the atmosphere get altered because of Jesus or is this just another day to go out and to hate humanity and try to survive? You know maybe that smile that you give to that stranger is a kiss from Jesus because they haven't had a good word spoken to them and week. We never know. But what we are picking up from the apostle Paul is our lives smell like something. Maybe they should smell like shalom. Maybe they should smell like heaven. Let’s give it some thought today.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, we invite You into that. This exercise allows us to look at our lives framed in a different way which can bring all kinds of insight. And, so, Holy Spirit come and bring insight into our lives. What aroma are we putting into the world? Is it the aroma of Chris? May it be so we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Daily Devotionals for February 22, 2023 (Ash Wednesday)
Proverbs: God's Wisdom for Daily Living
Devotional Scripture:
Provbuilt1-5:(KJV):
1 Wisdom hath built her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
2 She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.
3 She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
4 Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
5 Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
Thought for the Day
These verses contain a powerful message. Wisdom, personified as a woman, calls us to her banquet of "best things," in contrast to the foolish woman mentioned later in chapter 9, who calls the simple to drink "stolen waters." Here, as in chapter 8, wisdom is more than a trait or quality. It is a symbol of Jesus, who is also referred to as the rose of Sharon and the lily of the valleys, the One who brings us to His banqueting table (Song of Solomon 2:4).
Wisdom has built a house; Jesus tells us how to build ours. These "houses" do not mean our physical residences, but our spiritual houses (Matthew 7:24-27). The storms of life come against the houses of both the wise and foolish, but only those of the wise remain standing after being battered. The wise are those who obey God's Word, putting into practice what they learn. The foolish hear His Word, but do not act on what they hear. If we desire our "financial houses," "career houses," and families to withstand life's storms, we about the commandments of God about each.
Verse 1 - In Scripture, numbers are not simply digits used in arithmetic; as all Hebrew names and numbers have meanings. What does it mean when it says that Wisdom has "hewn out her seven pillars?" A carpenter k that the pillars in a house are the support beams. The seven pillars in Wisdom's house symbolize that the house has perfect support because symbolically the number seven stands for perfection or completeness. When the structure of our lives rests upon Biblical principles, our building is not in vain. "Exceplabor LORD builds the house, they labor in vain that build it..." (Psalm 127:1).
Verses 2-5 - The remainder of these verses describe the banquet that Wisdom has prepared. She has butchered her meat and set her table with wine. She invites those who will listen to "come and dine." This is a picture of Jesus' invitation to come and eat His bread (understand His Word) and drink His wine (receive the Holy Spirit). This invitation is still going out from the Master today.
Prayer Devotional for the Day
Dear heavenly Father, how grateful we are that You have made such wonderful things for us to feast on, at Your table. It is so wonderful to understand Your Word and to know the presence of the Holy Spirit. We do need Your help in building and setting in order the things in our life. Give us Your wisdom for the task. We also need Your love and Your strength to carry out those things, that You have spoken to us to do. Lord, we want to be a blessing today, as we labor in Your Kingdom. Help us to represent You well, and to be good and kind to all of those in our homes and offices, and all that we meet, as well. Thank you for Your love and watching care over us and all of our families and loved ones. Bless and protect Your people all over the world from those things sight unseen. I ask in the name of Jesus. Amen.

THE APPROPRIATE CHRISTIAN LIVING 2
1. “BUT AS FOR YOU, SPEAK THE THINGS WHICH ARE PROPER FOR SOUND DOCTRINE:
2. that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience;
3. the older women likewise, THAT THEY BE REVERENT IN BEHAVIOUR, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things.“
Titus 2:1-3 (NKJV)
Tumblr media
• As we have been able to establish it in the first part of this teaching that believers should be reverent, temperate, and sound in faith (Titus 2:2).
• And in addition to that, they should be sound in love, because faith works through love (Titus 2:2; Galatians 5:6).
- Absence of love incapacitate faith.
IN order words, when love is lacking, faith cannot work or produce results—there would be no good testimony.
- Love is expressed in giving and forgiveness.
WHEN you love, you give whatever in your capacity to help others: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..." (John 3:16).
AND you do not think ill, evil, about your fellow humans if you are walking in love: "love does no harm to a neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilment of the law" (Romans 13:10).
WHEN you walk in LOVE, that is, you are sound in LOVE, you have fulfilled the whole LAW (Romans 13:9,10; Galatians 6:10).
IF you also love, you forgive and overlook whatever wrong someone else has done to you (1 Corinthians 13:7; Romans 12:9).
“[love] BEARS ALL THINGS, believes all things, hopes all things, ENDURES ALL THINGS.”
1 Corinthians 13:7 (NKJV)
“LET LOVE BE WITHOUT HYPOCRISY. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.”
Romans 12:9 (NKJV)
- Love of God is poured out in the heart of every believer in Christ Jesus (Romans 5:5).
YOU should let the love of God in your heart, your spirit, find expression.
DO not yield to the flesh, let the love in your heart be expressed: "... because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us" (Romans 5:5). WHEN you hate, you withhold the love that should be expressed, you incapacitate and mutilate your faith.
• Besides, a believer cannot be sound in Faith without being sound in Patience.
YOUR faith would be tested, and the testing of FAITH produces Patience (James 1:2,3).
- God does not walk in the realm of time: "... with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years is as one day" (2 Peter 3:8).
- If you are in a hurry, you cannot walk with Him.
ALL the men and women listed or mentioned in the book of Hebrews chapter 11 as heroes of faith are the people who walked with God in Patience.
- Abraham waited for twenty-five years before the fulfilment of the promise made by God to him—about giving him a son (Romans 4:13-22; Hebrews 11:11,12).
• Therefore, a believer who will be sound in FAITH should be sound in LOVE, and in PATIENCE also (Titus 2:2).
- The proof and authenticity of your FAITH is known through trials which produced PATIENCE (James 1:2,3).
• Believers should also not be slanderers (Titus 2:3).
TO slander is to speak falsely with the intention of damaging the good opinion people have about someone.
A believer should learn to tame his or her tongue, not to badmouth or speak ill of others (James 1:19; 3:2).
• Believers should not be given to wine, that is, they should not be alcoholic (Titus 2:3; Proverbs 31:4,6).
Apostle Paul admonishes: “AND DO NOT BE DRUNK WITH WINE, in which is dissipation; BUT BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT” (Ephesians 5:18).
• And believers should be teachers of good things (Titus 2:3).
IF those who do not know God wants to know about Christ Jesus and God the Father, they should be able to know through the lives of believers in Christ who are around them.
YOUR life as believers should witness and teach Christ: "that You may become blameless and harmless [innocent], CHILDREN OF GOD WITHOUT FAULT IN THE MIDST OF A CROOKED AND PERVERSE GENERATION, among whom you SHINE as lights in the world" (Philippians 2:15).
- How you live your life as a believer preaches or testifies Jesus more than whatever you PREACHED with your mouth (1 Peter 2:11,12).
11. “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
12. HAVING YOUR CONDUCT HONOURABLE AMONG THE GENTILES [unbelievers], that when they speak against you as evildoers, THEY MAY, BY YOUR GOOD WORKS WHICH THEY OBSERVE, glorify God in the day of visitation.”
1 Peter 2:11,12 (NKJV)
• The points we have shared and highlighted in this topic, both 1 AND 2, from the book of Titus 2:1-3 ARE to be considered and lived by whoever professed to be Christian.
IT is the approximate LIFE for whoever claims to be serving the Lord Jesus Christ.
19. “Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “THE LORD KNOWS THOSE WHO ARE HIS,” and, “LET EVERYONE WHO NAMES THE NAME OF CHRIST DEPART FROM INIQUITY.”
20. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honour and some for dishonour.
21. THEREFORE IF ANYONE CLEANSES HIMSELF FROM THE LATTER, he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, PREPARED FOR EVERY GOOD WORK.”
2 Timothy 2:19-21 (NKJV)
• You will not fail in Jesus’ name.
Peace!

Reading for May 14th                      Job 32 During our week of devotional sharing we have only had the conversation of Job to ponder and give our thoughts. We end our week by meeting a new friend of his, the youngest one of the bunch. We think most of us would agree that Job’s friends are not our favorite people in the storyline. They seem like a bunch of pushy, prideful armchair quarterbacks. One thought we shared with each other is perhaps we don’t like these guys because there is a little bit of them in us. Without the power of Christ and the fruit of the Holy Spirit guiding our lives, we can exhibit the traits of the so-called friends. Thank God for His forgiveness and that Refiner’s fire we talked about earlier in the week. When we submit to God and resist the devil, he will flee (James 4:7). When we ask God to search us and know our hearts and see if there is any wicked way in us, He will cleanse and renew us to be more like Jesus (Psalm 51 & 139). Because we know that about God, we aren’t going to drone on about Elihu’s negatives. We are going to glean what we can out of this chapter to apply positive traits that we can use in daily living. We observed that Elihu had an impressive demonstration of maturity. He exhibited self-control by waiting and listening to the elders that spoke to Job before him. We may not agree with his arguments that he imposes on Job for six chapters, but we can agree that he waited for a very long time and then spoke. Consider these verses: -A fool utters all of his mind, but a wise man keeps it in till afterwards. (Proverbs 29:11) -The fruit of the Spirit is self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23) -My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. (James 1:19) He also showed a measure of respect for his elders. Respect for our elders is a biblical virtue that is not generally practiced in our culture. We are all familiar with the only one of the Ten Commandments with a promise about honoring your father and mother so it will go well with you and you may live long on the earth (Ephesians 6:2), but here are a couple of other scriptural principles to ponder: -Never speak harshly to an older man, but appeal to him respectfully as you would to your own father. (1 Timothy 5:1) -Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. (1 Peter 5:5) We’ll end on a positive note with this young friend of Job’s. We would do well to follow this example of self-control in our conversations and remember how valuable those that are older in the faith and in years are to us. What terrific practices to teach our children and grandchildren as well! We are praying that we all take the wonderful treasures that are hidden in the book of Job and apply them to daily living! It’s been a great week!

Our sure and God-given weapons is The Word of God. As we consistently and prayerfully spend time with God in His Word, we will grow in faith and discernment ~ and it will also wash us and make us new. God’s Word provides protection for our minds like a helmet., and it arms us with truth like a belt wrapped around us ~ causing us to confidently stand firm. This belt holds a quiver full of promises that are like arrows that powerfully extinguish every fiery dart that the enemy will throw at us, as we take our thoughts captive as we replace the lies of the enemy with the truth of The Word. The Word also provides a shield of faith - because faith comes from hearing The Word - which places a divine breastplate across our chest ~ protecting our heart from sin and keeping us in righteousness as we hide The Word in our hearts. The Word enables us to stand in the shoes of the gospel of peace - because perfect peace comes to those who keep their eyes fixed on Him (Who is The Word.)
Every single piece of our armor mentioned in Ephesians chapter 6 is fully and completely provided by our sword, “which is The Word of God.” This is simply because He IS The Word! His blood, and His Spirit, and His Word ~ together ~ have given us everything we need for life and godliness ~ and everything we need to fight our battles. “And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these for war. The term "trains" here refers to He's walking us through a training exercise to fight the enemy much like a military training exercise. However, this is a spiritual war which cannot be fought with worldly ammunition ~ but know the enemy will try to distract you in a war of flesh - but only the weapon of His Word will ever be able to setus free, pull down spiritual strongholds m, and fight the principalities and powers of darkness in high places.
Our Father's goal is to bring us to the point where we have learned how ultimately trustworthy He is; so that we finally begin to automatically depend and lean 100% on Him as our natural reflex, and instinctive, reactive response... to literally e v e r y t h I n g..
The following are the verses that came to me as I was writing what was on my heart (if you are interested in further study) as well as the passages that inspired actually this post.
Ephesians 6:10-17 ~ John1:1 ~ John17.17 ~ John 14:6 ~ John 8:32 ~ 2 Timothy 3:16 ~ 1 Peter 2:2 ~ 2 Corinthians 10:5 ~ Hebrews 4:12 ~ Romans 10:17 ~ psalm 119:11 ~Isaiah 26:3 ~ 2 Corinthians 4:18 ~ Isaiah 50:7 ~ 2 Timothy 2:4-7 ~ 2 Timothy 2:15 ~ Isaiah 55:11 ~ Acts 17:11 ~ Deuteronomy 8:3 ~ James 1:21 ~ John 15:7 ~ John 16:13 ~ John 6:63 ~ John 7:38 ~ Matthew 4:4 ~ proverbs 30:5 ~ Romans 15:4 ~ 1 Corinthians 6:11 ~ Ephesians 5:25-27 ~ 1 John 5:6-13 ~ Psalm 144:1-6~ 2 Samuel 22:31-37 ~ Psalm 18:26-36

Proverbs 22 - 24
Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible Chronological, I'm China. Today is the 10th day of June, welcome. So great to be here with you today. Today we continue on in the book of Proverbs with chapters 22 - 24, and we continue on this week with the English Standard Version.
Commentary
I love in today's reading we read by wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established. By knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. That just feel so beautiful. To read that for a second I'm kind of like imagining my house and wisdom is building it, and understanding it is established, and knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. I think this is a metaphor. But also to think about a house being built by these things and the rooms being filled, that would be a big deal to say like yeah, wisdom built my house, understanding it's, established he was here too. And then there's precious and pleasant riches that fill my rooms. You should go check it out. That would be so cool. And I think it's a metaphor saying that we are these houses that are built and by understanding and wisdom it is built and it's established. And with knowledge, the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. And that we would be people that are filled with strength and a man of knowledge enhances his might, provide wise guidance you can wage your war and then abundance of counselors there's victory. I mean there's just so much goodness to reading the Proverbs the podcast would be days long if we tried to break each verse down and talked about what it's speaking to us. But that one in particular captivated me and it was just this imagery of like how imagine my house being built this way or wow, imagine myself being built this way. What if I were to really allow the Lord in the foundations of who I am, in the foundations of my faith and to restructure and to rebuild, and that's what it would look like.
Prayer
And so Father, I thank you for your word. I thank you for the image that you are giving us. I thank you for the images that you have given me. And Lord, I pray that we would be people who steward what you have shown us and what you've given us well. May we be people who speak freely and bountifully of all the good works that you have done and that you have shown that you've given us. And Lord, I just thank you for your wonders and your word and your might and the Holy Spirit that comes to comfort and guide and extort and honor. And Lord, may it be done in your glory and it's in your name we pray, amen.

Community Prayer Line
Hi DABC, it's Emmy from Illinois. Just calling in with appraise and just continued prayers but, my husband has been back to Church every week since Easter and last week we actually even went to a Church that he'd had some bad experiences at and had struggled with some forgiving of some people at the Church and he felt like he needed to take an extra step and forgive them in a way that was tangible by actually going back to Church there which was really cool and so just continue to pray that he would be open to hearing what God wants him to hear and convictions as well as for myself to continue. Obviously I'm not perfect either, so just prayers that I can be convicted in the ways that I've hurt our marriage as well as for us to both be open to growth and putting our marriage behind us and moving forward in a new marriage essentially. Our old marriage, not that we were divorced or anything, but our marriage prior to the last few years just needs to be done and we need to move forward so prayers that we can helpfully work through hurts and struggles from the past but still leave it in the past would be great. Yeah. I really appreciate your prayers. Thank you. Bye.
Hi, this is Pure Heart from Tennessee. I had just left Walmart and there was a young man that hit the door really hard on his way out and knocked it off track and I could just see the grimace and the anger in his face. So when I went in I noticed buggies turned over and displays knocked over and it was only because there was ten more minutes before customer service was to open and he wanted customer service. And right now I just want to pray for the people that leave themselves open for the enemy to use to kill, steal and destroy. Father God, I pray for this young man. I pray that you were given peace that passes all understanding. I put a hedge of protection around his mind and his heart and his spirit and soul. Lord God asking you to just anoint him with your spirit. Let him see Father God that you're greater than anything that this world would have to offer. And Father God I pray heavy protection around those that work in the public like grocery stores and service station fast foods for our officers and firefighters, anybody that works in the public. I just ask Father God, that you would just put a hedge protection around him and that you would defeat and confuse any assignment that Satan has for them in the name of Jesus and father God. I just thank you that even right now that you blessing and touching each and every one of my dad see family right now and asked that you'll just be with them.
Hey, DAB family, this is Roy from Ohio. I'm calling because my father's in the hospital right now. He felt some stomach pain and my mom had to drive him to the hospital. They should be back soon, but I just pray, ask for prayers for his health and recovery. I'm not 100% sure what he has. It's not the first time he said when I talked to him about it. I also pray for fire and for me to be more close to God. We love God more because I felt very distant and it's not because of him, but it's because of me because I've been doing things that I know I shouldn't be doing, and I get tempted and I do it and I know I shouldn't be having I'm just a mess. Please pray for me. Also pray for the dog my family got a few days ago. His name is Kai. We might have to run back tomorrow because we can't really take care of another dog, especially one like him. Then he's a lot of maintenance. So please pray for us and our family. Thank you.
Hey, my DABC family, this is Ashley from Texas. I called in, I want to say in January very distraught over being pregnant, not being married and, not wanting the child and all that craziness. And I just wanted to call in and tell you guys that when my prayer aired, and then I got this plethora of prayers from you guys, it was so overwhelming. It was like, oh, my God. And I was in such a terrible place at the time. We had broken up. I moved out, and I was very alone and very unhappy. And honestly, for a while there, I was the subject of many prayers, and it was like God was literally saying to me, I'm here, I'm taking care of you. You have not went without anything that you needed. And I really wanted to say thank you to all of your prayers. Just a quick update. I am officially 26 weeks today. I'll be seven months. Next week, my baby is going to be named Genesis Mackenzie young. We are obviously keeping her. We've decided to go to premarital counseling and get married, and we have started going to Church and trying to I've given my life to Christ. He's kind of on the fence, and so we're working through that. And I just wanted to come in and tell you guys, thank you so much. I'm still listening. I'm still praying for you guys. Love you.

Chapter 21
1 And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners. 2 And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities. 3 And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah. 4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way. 5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread. 6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died. 7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. 8 And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live. 9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. 10 And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.
11 And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ijeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising. 12 From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared. 13 From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites. 14 Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon, 15 And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab. 16 And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water. 17 Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it: 18 The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah: 19 And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth: 20 And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.
And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying, 22 Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king's high way, until we be past thy borders. 23 And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel. 24 And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong. 25 And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof. 26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon. 27 Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared: 28 For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon. 29 Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites. 30 We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.
31 Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites. 32 And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there. 33 And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei. 34 And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon. 35 So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
