Man, this movie’s Prime design is great! It’s a little more skeletal than the Bumblebee movie, but it’s still great to look at!

I wanted today to be another collage like yesterday was supposed to be. I didn’t Budget my time well though, so it’s still a little sketchy for what I would like.

This is a wholesome fic for onyxonline's Space Riders AU! This is mainly centered on the ask I sent to Onyx about the Space Critters attending a ball/gala! Please check Onyx out, their work is super cool!

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE'RE GOING TO A GALA???"

Upon CraftyCorn's quick turn to DogDay, CatNap frowned at the sudden yell.

By what Bubba has said, their pen pal Eve had invited them all to the evening gala. A bit late for the invitation, as Bubba would put it. But it had seemed fair to have everyone come as a little reward for their recent successful missions.

"Princess Everiene has courtly spoken that we come to the gala as special guests. A very nice gesture of Her Majesty."

CraftyCorn nearly squealed at the news and ran off to prepare and to most likely make formal attire for everyone.

CatNap signed with a puzzled look.

'Do you think Z will come?'

DogDay shrugged and looked back at the set coordinates for Eve's planet.

"I don't know, being honest. He's never met Eve before and I think the gala would be a bit overwhelming."

Bubba nodded and leaned back in his seat, taking another sip of coffee.

"It's to have them meet at their own time. Maybe Z and Eve will get along well."

CatNap signed again.

'So DogDay is free from gossip for now. Oh well, there's always Bolt.'

"What do you mean by that?"

'I'll tell you when we get there.'

........

The gala felt like a fairytale. Elaborate gowns, fancy suits, divisions of the royal courts.

Bobby could nearly squeal at how glamorous the ordeal was, yet CraftyCorn had to calm herself before she actually squealed.

Hoppy and KickinChicken were busying themselves at the buffet tables, lightly fighting over the desserts while PickyPiggy snagged a few cookies in her pockets.

Bubba mingled with the other guests, mostly talking to a blue monarch butterfly lady.

That left DogDay and CatNap left to their own devices. However, they only observed from the drinking table as DogDay looked for Bolt.

"It's a bit past 11. Shouldn't they be announcing Eve coming?"

CatNap shrugged and leaned his head against his closed fist as he mindlessly floated. The captain, on the other hand, sighed and looked back to the dancing crowds, waiting patiently.

A quick lightning bolt strikes the garden path as Bolt approaches the drinking table while grumbling. Despite being so angry, he seemed quite handsome in his blue and gold suit.

Before the two critters could greet him, the wolf slammed his fists against the table.

"Damn that council..."

CatNap raised a eyebrow at him, quickly signing.

'Is Eve alright?'

Bolt sighed heavily and tried calming himself.

"No, she's not! That council, once again, projects onto her! And of course, I can't do much of the matter either."

DogDay patted his back in assurance, being a little upset himself.

As the two tried comforting their friend on the situation, the candle lights from the chandelier dimmed. The three watched as the music became softer and people by the end of stairs moved away.

Eve was guided down the stairs, the silver trim of her dress glittering from the hidden spotlight. Her expression remained calm despite the quick glances to Bolt.

CatNap looked towards Bolt and signed:

'Go to her.'

The wolf sighed softly and leaned back.

"I... I can't. Not when I already caused enough trouble for the both of us."

DogDay didn't believe his words, quickly nudging him.

"Sometimes you have to go against the rules. Go to her, Bolt."

The wolf looked at the both of them and let out another sigh before heading over as DogDay and CatNap watched.

"So how did you know Bolt had a long crush on Eve again?"

'I have my ways.'

Hehehe artists commentary time. Cause idk I wanna talk about it.

This took me a long time ngl. I mean part of that was a took a break and then had to actively make myself sit down and finish it, which I don't regret.

This was the first time I've drawn Ranno and Liligator (as well as greninja from the front), so between that and the character spacing, posing, lineart, the fact I didn't have an actual lineart pen for most of this, and attempted color matching (cough cough perfectionist cough), it was a challenge. Dude color matching Liligator's blue was really frustrating for a while, but I'm happy with how it turned out. And its As Close As I Can Get™. Ranno's bubbles gave me hell when I started coloring them. I swatched a lot of potential strategies before I tried on the sketch, so eventually it worked out and I think they work pretty good. I've drawn greninja a couple times cause they're my main in ssbu, but MAN. Drawing them from the front. Not doing that again anytime soon I'm doing just great with a three quarters angle thanks. I still think their face looks off, but I redrew their eyes at least 50 times and had to just Leave It if I ever wanted to continue.

Despite all of that, I had such a clear image of this idea in my head so I went and put it on paper. Honestly this was really fun and I like having a project I can chip away at for a couple days.

Profiles in Villainy

The Beast

A veritable personification of the unknown, The Beast roams the forest, ruling over darkened spaces with vast and dangerous powers.  He possesses a lantern that he must keep lit at all times so to sustain his life.  Yet the only fuel that this lantern will accept is the oil extracted from the rare Edelwood tree. 

The Beast seeks out victims, those brave or foolish souls who venture into his woods.  He does all in his power to cause these victims to lose all hope.  Once said victim has lost hope and fully gives in to despair, this enables The Beast to transform them into an Edelwood tree; trees that he can then cut down and use to fuel his lantern.  In other words, The Beast subsists on lost hope and he will do all in his power instill despair into those he encounters.  

As manipulative as he is mysterious, The Beast is indifferent to the pain and suffering caused by his actions. He is quite well-spoken and will attempt to lull his victims into a false sense of security, accomplished by feigning concern. He is a master of deception, knowing exactly what to say to get people under his power. 

When the brothers, Wirt and Gregory, ventured into the forests, The Beast set his sights on the two lads.  Gregory was naive and impressionable and almost succumbed to The Beast’s manipulation; whilst Writ was much more dour and sensible as well as highly suspicious of the villain.  

It is likely the brothers would have perished at the hands of The Beast had they not been rescued by The Huntsman.  This Huntsman saved Wirt and Gregory and extinguished The Beast’s flame, seeming destroying the creature once and for all.  

Actor Samuel Ramey provided the voice for The Beast, appearing in the 2014 animated mini-series, Over the Garden Wall.
