Sprawling buttress roots of an enormous old Moreton Bay Fig Tree (Ficus macrophylla), endemic to Australian eastern coastal areas, at close to the limit of its southern range in Sydney. One of dozens of identically aged figs in the area. Most likely planted as part of a Great Depression-era work creation program as a soil stabiliser near reclaimed dockland, which would put the tree at about 90 years old. Rozelle.

Today marks the 4th anniversary of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, which took the lives of seventeen and injured seventeen on February 14th, 2018. The perpetrator, Nikolas Cruz, is still awaiting trial to determine whether he will receive a life sentence or the death penalty.
