TSC De-registered Teachers, March 2023
TSC De-registered Teachers, March 2023
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is responsible for registering and regulating the teaching profession.
Pursuant to section 30 of the TSC Act (2012), the TSC has the power to remove a teacher from the Register of Teachers if they are found guilty of professional misconduct, incompetence, or a criminal offence.
The TSC may deregister a teacher after conducting an investigation and a disciplinary hearing, where the teacher is given an opportunity to defend themselves. The decision to deregister a teacher is made after due process, and is meant to protect the public from unqualified, incompetent, or unethical teachers.
Deregistration may have serious consequences for a teacher, as it may affect their ability to find employment in the teaching profession, or in other professions that require a clean disciplinary record. It may also damage their professional reputation and credibility.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has released a list of teachers who have been removed from the Register of Teachers. The following teachers are no longer permitted to engage in teaching in any learning institution:
