ooh okay okay.. non bad ddd! guys what about root? (trees dad) since he's a loner he doesn't really go to either starclan/df and it would be REALLY interesting for him to interact with bris, i imagine hed look alot like rootspring
oooOOOOOOOHHH
this idea slaps!
confession I haven’t read tree’s novella yet (I actually just got the audiobook for the one that has his yesterday!)
I’ll have to figure out what his personality is like once I read it! so I’ll circle back and expand on this with his character in mind, but I love the idea of bristlefrost realizing her almost grandpa-in-law lives down the hall lol
imagine the insight she could get into why rootspring’s family is the way it is by learning about tree’s past! I imagine she just knows the bare bones about him: that tree was a loner, alderheart had an omen to go find him, now he’s in skyclan, tiny bit of knowledge about the sisters from when they return in tbc (not sure if bristle had been born yet when they first showed up near the lake? squilf’s hope right? I’ll edit this if I look it up)
there’s something so compelling about how bristlefrost’s relationship with rootspring never really was — they didnt even have true a “honeymoon period” because their relationship was almost entirely a “what if.”
which means they never got to the point where you learn, piece by piece over time, the hard and buried and ugly and “let’s talk about something else” parts of each other’s family histories.
also wait did tree name his son after his dad? did rootspring even know? that’s ~juicy~ I extra can’t wait to read it now bc I’ll be scavenging for tidbits to work into the au

Warrior Cats Novellas in 10 Words or Less (mostly 10 words):
So I started explaining the super editions to my friend who’s only read the first series and then this just happened. I’ve read a majority of the novellas and I’ve at least seen review for pretty much all of them so this may be somewhat accurate. Without further ado:
Hollyleaf’s Story - presumed-dead murderer delays confronting mistakes (with ghost love interest???)
Mistystar’s Omen - local leader conflicted about her atheist doctor (real main character)
Cloudstar’s Journey - entire people wiped out in series of tragic events (sad)
Tigerclaw’s Fury - coup leader recruits goons (several things go wrong)
Leafpool’s Wish - doctor has illegal affair and children (sister deals with it)
Dovewing’s Silence - I cried at the mass funeral (not kidding)
alternatively; Dovewing’s Silence - woman struggles with perfectly fine hearing (featuring annoying creep Bumblestripe)
Mapleshade’s Vengeance - everyone is somewhat to blame (please don’t kill me)
Goosefeather’s Curse - baby prophet gets bullied (and causes numerous disasters)
Ravenpaw’s Farewell - gay cats are the best cats (rip OG Alderheart)
Spottedleaf’s Heart - they didn’t think this one through well enough (questionable)
Pinestar’s Choice - had to look this one up (guy thinks life sucks?)
Thunderstar’s Echo - don’t know this one (mundane stuff happens in ancient Thunderclan?)
Redtail’s Debt - the writers didn’t pay attention (still a good story tho)
Tawnypelt’s Clan - old lady sick of everyone’s shit (and rightfully so)
Shadowstar’s Life - state leader paranoid about assassination (tensions temporarily resolved with death)
Pebbleshine’s Kits - pregnant woman wanders around a bit (allows kinda weird cameos)
Tree’s Roots - genuinely nice character backstory (will warm your heart)
Mothwing’s Secret - doctor rejects religion (good conclusion - the gods are a scam)
Daisy’s Kin - babysitter thinks she’s purposeless (she’s actually too good for everyone)
Blackfoot’s Reckoning - cool, but I don’t get the hype (sorry Blackstar fans)
alternatively; Blackfoot’s Reckoning - president reviews obvious mistakes during inauguration (while making several excuses)
Spotfur’s Rebellion - woman assists coup that fails (she’s not like other girls)

PLEASE tell me about BB!Skywatcher....he was my blorbo in 4th grade and he holds a special lil place in my heart
Tumblr media
[ID: Skywatcher from the Better Bones AU. He is a gray cat with a black belly-mane, white spots, and long fur.]
For you anon. A glass of old man, to hydrate you.
It feels important to make his design look less like Goosefeather, so they're more distinguished as 'gray old man yells at cloud' types. wait hangon, why does no one else realize how funny these two would be as a crack ship?
I didn't MEAN for him to look like my Pebbleshine and Violetshine, but... hmm. Maybe I'll try and link up backwards and make that black belly-mane their family trait. His sibling Twig would be their ancestor, making him Violetshine's great-gruncle.
Idk why but he NEEDS to look like a powerful wizard.
I was hoping the spots would look kinda like moon craters, since his nickname was "Moony."
The cat that SkyClan likes to remember as their founder, since Skystar did not follow them in their exile. They have their own separate heaven and everything.
BIG change from canon: SkyClan never truly disbanded, but it did become looser.
Spiderstar realized that her clan could not fight the rats that were plaguing them; but she watched the children of a spider create kites and fly away on the wind. She realized that this was how they would survive-- and like the loose web, they could remain connected.
Skywatcher remained in the gorge, and kept the story alive to all who would visit. He would pass news, and happenings from afar. As long as this network existed; SkyClan was not dead.
At first, during the events of Firestar's Quietus, Brokenstar and Firestar bickered over how they would remake SkyClan, and how it would look.
But over time... what they had to learn was that SkyClan would never be a Clan the way they were taught. It would be its own culture, shaped by its own history, in control of its own destiny.
And Skywatcher, he who remembered all the old stories and kept knowledge of all the descendants for so long, was considered its new founder.
But he was not to be its leader. That was for Leafstar to do.
In death, he is remembered as a Patron of Archival and Memory. He's invoked by warriors whenever they need to remember something, and becomes popular around the Lake too once they join the Forest Four.

Mini avos idea: Leafstar (and her deputy i forgor his name) loses her last life to Darktail as they escape the gorge, leaving Hawkwing as acting leader. but without the whispering cave, he has to go to the lake to get his 9 lives and make his clan whole again. Probably with some cats from the other clans joining (though realistically it'd probably just be shadow and thunderclan cats. Pls thin their numbers a little).
Not only do we not get Leafstar being.... like that. But we also get Hawkstar trying to keep his cats together and could tie into his SE a bit more instead of just giving us Darktail shenanigans and whatever the fuck was going on with Pebbleshine
YEAH i totally agree that leafstar shouldve died from darktail. not only because shes been hanging on for too long but because itd raise the stakes so much and mark the end of the era that they really want the raid to be. hell, keep sharpclaws death too, have the clan at a total loss for leadership. could you imagine the stakes at that point? (edit: i may be stupid i just didn’t process the part where you say sharpclaw dies too JDJDJDJDJDJJDEJ)
if we remove the pebbleshine stuff and age up hawkwing a bit then i think hawkstar could work after like a struggle for leadership. maybe they all look to echosong at first, then waspwhisker takes over, then once theyre gone, the clan is an absolute mess, and its in that chaos that hawkwing has to grow up and prove himself. honestly id be so down

For anyone wondering what I have spent my whole day one-
Have my reworked, half canon, family tree for WC. It is very large so keep that in mind (a whole 306 cats!!). Mostly for me but I also feel like it’s fun to look at. I’d suggest just searching specific cats it works out the best.
Family Tree
The Name Changes
Sparkpelt to Sparkfire
Nightheart to Nightshade
Finchlight to Finchflight
Mosskit to Mosspelt
Violetshine to Violetshade
Twigbranch to Twigsprig
Tigerheartstar to Goldenheart
Ivypool to Ivyclaw
Breezepelt to Breezestrike
Pebbleshine to Pebblepad
Stormtail to Stormgrowl
Snowfur to Snowstorm
Whitetail to Ospreytail
Finchflight (ShC) to Roachflight
Odder Changes
TreeVioletDragonfly polycule purely taken from @bonefall ‘s big brain
Ivyclaw and Rosepetal. Came to me while doing the tree and now it’s on there. Don’t ask about how they have kits the litter is just theirs alright?
WillowHeatherHollyCinder polycule will stay no one can stop me they are all lesbians and dating
Mille situation. Briarlight and Blossomfall are the slightly older siblings of Bumblestripe and non Graystripe kittens. She was just expecting and had them soon after joining Thunderclan and then a few moons later had Bumblestripe.
JayPoppy. I had a lot of trouble finding a pairing that worked as the parents for Spotfur and Sorrelstripe since I needed to move them out of the big LionCinder litter so they were tucked there. Poppyfrost just says their hers and no one is to question this.
AlderVelvetPuddle polycule and also Velvet as a church cat. Idk I liked them a lot. Also needed a change to Pouncestep’s parentage bc I wanted just Lightleap and Shadowsight as GoldenDove kittens so she’s secretly Velvet’s kitten that Dove adopted at the church.
Brokenstar. Just Brokenstar. He needed kittens and Fernshade wanted them too so the pair had Badgerkit and Batkit but once Fern saw what he was doing she tried to get them out, Batkit did and was left at the Thunderclan border soon to be swept up by a patrol but Badgerkit didn’t. He died as just a kitten in the fate Fernshade feared. Displeased by his heirs gone Broken and Newt paired up to have Rowanclaw.
Heatherstar is now the sister of Palebird and mother of Onestar. Her only kitten to survive, and we’ve seen she likes more on the nose names so she named him Onekit. Windclan has a bloodline based leadership thing going on. Onewhisker had his one-sided divorce with Firestar and got with Smoke to have Darktail and Heathertail, Smoke refused to let him abandoned her entirely and made him take Heather. He then to save face has another litter with Whitewing being Harestar and Kestrelflight
AshHawkReed bc I said so. After the death of Hawkfrost, Reedwhisker still wanted a family so he had one with Duskfur being Curlfeather and Podlight.
CrookedBlue rights. Bluestar is still aro and she gives all three of her kittens to Crookedstar at the border, Mosskit barely surviving. Moss goes on to be Mosspelt a permanent queen! CrookedWillow is still canon with Silverstream

OK so Sharpclaw x Cherrytail bad because he was her mentor or something, can't remember.
And Hawkwing x Pebbleshine bad because first cousins.
But what if we shuffle a bit the mates and kits hmm?
Sharpclaw x Clovertail. They fall in love when he rescues her from the fox in Firestar's Quest. Starts getting together. They have the PatchClover litter together, so Birdwing, Honeytail and Sandynose.
Patchfoot gets with Cherrytail then. They have Hawkwing and siblings.
Hawkwing goes with Honeytail, and she becomes a permaqueen with kits instead of a kitless permaqueen. She isn't killed by raccoons but has Pebbleshine's death and canon knits itself back together.

Hello I would like to hear you talk about Goldenflower if you wanna :]
I will list the reasons on why I like Goldenflower so much :)
-Her life and her family are very interesting, her younger siblings were Snowkit and Mistlekit, both of which never made it to adulthood. I wonder how that impacted her, having young kits herself at the time of their deaths. Her first mate was Patchpelt, which she had Swiftpaw and Lynxkit with, who she didn’t get to see grow up. She also, in a way, didn’t get to see Tawnypelt grow up, which left her with only one of her children. We didn’t get to see her reaction to Swiftpaw’s death, probably because they were added as her kits later, but still, that must’ve been horrible for her, especially because Tigerstar is the reason Swiftpaw died, I think it would be very interesting seeing how she would react to finding out that her ex boyfriend basically killed her child.
-She was such a nice and sweet cat, she was the first permanent nursery queen, she helped Ferncloud with raising her kits, maybe Ferncloud ended up becoming a nursery queen as well because of Goldenflower? I think she was pretty close with Longtail, they were both elders at the same time, and she often helped him get around the new territories. He was also Swiftpaw’s mentor, which might be the reason they were close. She even helped him during the badger attack while she was hurt herself. Longtail is also her other ex boyfriend, Patchpelt’s oldest child, so I think their dynamic is very interesting. I like to think that her, Longtail and Mousefur were close friends. She was also probably pretty close friends with Frostfur, another nursery queen near the time she had Bramblekit and Tawnykit. She was probably close with Brindleface as well.
-She was asked to be Stormkit and Featherkit’s foster mother, and nurse them, and she loved them as much as she loved her own kits. She was probably heartbroken when the kits she had taken in, were being taken away from her so quickly. which also means that, out of five kits she helped raise, she only got to see one of them grow up. Also Stormkit and Featherkit come back to ThunderClan as apprentices after Tigerstar ordered to get them killed, but we never saw Goldenflower’s reaction to that, sadly.
-I really wonder how she would react to finding out about Sasha, Mothwing and Hawkfrost.
-She has a lot of missed potential honestly, her character is very interesting but she barely gets any focus, especially in the later books.
-Goldenflower should get her own novella honestly, less important characters have gotten novellas, like: Redtail, Pebbleshine and Daisy. If she got a novella I wonder what it would be called, maybe “Goldenflower’s regret” or something.
Anyway Goldenflower is an awesome character that didn’t get enough time or focus! :)

siiiigghhh look i know the erins are terrible at conflict resolution and portraying female characters feelings as important like i get that and i agree that the writing is super misogynistic. i even agree that hawkwings journey was super unfair to pebbleshine and did not allow her to properly come to terms w her own trauma like it did w hawkwing. but ive been seeing a lot of ppl compare hawkwing to brambleclaw and that just. doesnt sit right w me.
like i agree hawkwings treatment of pebbleshine while hes angsting over duskpaws death is wrong. he acts out of spite bc hes hurt and angry and wants to take it out on her. he tells her he wishes she had died instead of duskpaw. thats bad. we know that its bad, even tho he apologizes for it. but in his case its coming from a place of trauma and projection (which, AGAIN, doesnt make it ok), whereas brambleclaws treatment of squirrelflight has never come from a place of grieving or unhealthy coping mechanisms, hes literally mean to her bc hes always seen her as annoying. he doesnt respect her, he sees her as always contradicting him, as trying to control him, as being a liar who keeps secrets from him, as someone who he cant trust. from the beginning brambleclaw has had no legitimate reason for his cruelty toward squirrelflight. he is abusive to her bc hes always seen her as being lesser, as not respecting him, so therefore in his mind he doesnt respect her.
hawkwing did and said horrible things to pebbleshine while he was mourning, yes. pebbleshine was treated unfairly by the narrative, yes. they shouldnt have been in a relationship in the first place, yes. but hawk does not deserve to be compared to brambleclaw when bramble has always been consistently abusive to squirrelflight for increasingly petty/hypocritical reasons, whereas hawkwing, while certainly not in the right, acted out of grief. again, this does not necessarily mean you have to sympathize w him (even tho the narrative wants u to), but it makes him different from brambleclaw based on that alone. do w that what u will.

Major Arc 5 Story Changes/General Summary Part 2
We’re on to the second half of Arc 5 baby! Will Darktail succeed in taking over the Clans? How does this story end? Find out below!
Onestar leads an attack on The Kin alongside the other Clans to get his daughter and granddaughters back and drive The Kin out, but is forced to flee after encountering Darktail on the battlefield, causing the Clans to lose the battle and Mistystar to lose her final life. Reedstar becomes RiverClan’s new Leader and names his mate Hawkfrost as his Deputy. He is also very, very angry with Onestar for causing his mother’s death
Canon continues, with some snippets of Heathertail, Brindlekit, and Smokekit’s life with The Kin thrown in. She befriends another mother with kits named Amaryllis, a nice older tom named Blowfly who seems to genuinely regret joining The Kin, some elderly cats, and more. When the Clans win the battle and Onestar and Darktail kill each other, Heathertail brings Amaryllis, Amaryllis’ three kits Hound, Spore, and Morel, Blowfly, and the two elderly cats Sting and Frost with her and her kits back to WindClan. Only Houndkit, Sporekit, and Morelkit take Clan names
Twigpaw returns with SkyClan. Pebbleshine enthusiastically reunites with her mate, friends, and family, and both Lavenderpaw and Twigpaw join their parents’ Clan. Later on, two familiar faces pop up in SkyClan’s new territory, looking for a new place to live: Loki and Zelda, two of the kittypets who had been forced to join and fight for The Kin and had befriended Lavenderpaw. While they had tried to return to their housefolk after the battle was won and they were allowed to go home, Loki had been so badly injured and scarred that their housefolk no longer recognized them and chased them off as a stray. Zelda refused to leave her datefriend behind and chose to join him as loners. They are welcomed into SkyClan with open arms paws and become apprentices: Lokipaw and Zeldapaw
Canon continues until Molewhisker of ThunderClan and a SkyClan patrol go back to the gorge to look for their missing clanmates. They find Fidgetpaw, Nettlesplash, Mintclaw, Palekit, Gravelkit, Nectarkit, Mistfeather and Gertiefang’s two orphaned kits Glorykit and Dewkit, and a former Kin cat named Dragonfly living together in the gorge. They also rescue the kidnapped Frecklewish from Twolegs. On their way back, they find the rest of SkyClan shacking up with Ravenpaw and Barley, who were happy to help. Most of the SkyClan cats choose to leave to go to their new lake territory except for Cherrytail, Clovertail, Waspwhisker, and Birdwing (in canon, these cats were the ones taken by Twolegs who never returned), who choose to stay by the barn. Molewhisker and Cloudmist start getting kinda into each other as well
Canon continues until Tree does his ghost thing (which Lavendershine, Zeldasong, and Lokishade think is rad as heck- and kinda hot in a spooky way). Tawnystar doesn't resign. She is way too stubborn to give up on herself or her remaining clanmates. Twigpaw and Finpaw return to ThunderClan. Twigpaw is not forced to do her entire apprenticeship over again because that is dumb. She is just given a bit of a refresher with the help of now-Warriors Sparkstorm and Juniperleaf (named after Sandstorm and Hollyleaf and Leafpool respectively)
Things are canon-compliant from there until the ShadowClan Leader thing (once again, Tawnystar is still Leader) and the storm hits. Two displaced kittypets named Fuzzball and Velvet temporarily join ThunderClan; Alderheart becomes close with Velvet and Jayfeather discovers what it’s like to be a father to the most annoying kit imaginable when Fuzzball imprints on him. After the storm, the two leave, but end up returning so regularly to see their friends in the Clan and to help out that they end up becoming ThunderClan’s first Daylight Warriors
Also, Briarlight doesn't die from the sickness because I love her and she deserves to live forever. Unfortunately, a cat still needs to die (need that heartbreak!). So, after struggling his entire life with sickness and weakness, Driftpaw passes away in the Medicine Den surrounded by his family and friends. His Star Name is Driftdream
Goldenheart, Dovewing, and the missing ShadowClan cats return- minus poor Hollowkit, who was carried off by the owl before Goldenheart or his parents could do anything about it. Dovewing stays in ShadowClan permanently and has Goldenheart’s kits. In ThunderClan, the Dark Forest cat in Bumblestripe’s ear starts to whisper louder
And with that unsettling information, everything else is canon-compliant

Brightstar AU - The Rest of The Skyclan Affair, Eventual Revenge Accomplished, and The Death of My Writer’s Block
-Kicks your door down, throws a pile of papers into the room, then gently closes the door. You hear a thump, and open your door to find me unconscious, covered in papercuts-
I am back, I’m sorry it took so long but life gets in the way…but not today! I’m going to power through this Arc, then take a Cat Writing Break so I can draw my backlog of Hypokits. Anyway here we goooooooooo!
Between the last part and now, Thunderclan and Shadowclan have a tentative truce, Rowanstar still wanting to be important to the story! Mistlenose and Alderpaw have grown even closer, and Goldenheart and Dovewing have started planning a future family.
Echosong has a weird dream about leaves? Really Starclan? Flamewish has Words with Yellowfang about it, and the two discuss what will happen in the future. Both bemoan having to be even a little cryptic, and Longstar and Fireheart drop in, breaking up the conversation.
Meanwhile, Mistlenose and Alderpaw train with the other apprentices; Alderpaw manages to knock his sister for a loop, and practice breaks up on a high note. Shrewleg tells his son how proud his uncle Spiderleg would be, looking down from Starclan. Twigkit and Violetkit are ejected from the medicine den by Lionblossom, who wonders if one might be a future healer.
Rowanstar and Embertail visit, talking about Littlecloud’s failing health. Darkmoon offers to visit, and Alderpaw takes a red feather from the Skyclan kits to give to Needlepaw. When they visit, an eager Puddlekit offers to help the medicine cats gather moss, declaring he’s going to be Embertail’s apprentice. Needlepaw and Alderpaw talk, and he promises to ask Brightstar if she can visit the kits and Pebbleshine. Needlepaw slips the feather into her nest. Canon continues until…
Needlepaw is dragged away by Alderpaw and Mistlenose, and gets to play with the kits while Grassheart gives birth. Canon continues until…
Foxflight, Cinderheart, and Jaywhisker return, informing the clan that the rogues have vanished. Alderpaw worries that they might come to the Clans, and Brightstar sends a warning to the other clans. Canon continues until…
Windclan sends Heathertail to ask for help - Rogues!! Brightstar and a patrol race out, with Mistlenose fuming. The second the Windclan battle comes into view, Mistfeather screams in fury - it’s THEM!! Furzepelt, the former dark forest trainee, lies dead under Rain’s feet, and Mudstar is staggering, but Thunderclan drives them off. The injured are treated, and Alderpaw has a panic attack, his family curled around him. Mistlenose identifies Rain, and notes with cruel satisfaction that Snowthorn took his eye. Canon continues until…
Needlepaw and Sleekpaw meander across Rain, and they have a Conversation. The two visit the rogue camp and make A Decision. Canon continues until…
Twigkit and Violetkit try to help the medicine den by getting supplies, and have to be rescued by Sparkpaw and Alderpaw. This spurs Brightstar to set up their assessments. Canon continues until…
Needlepaw gets caught sneaking out, and gets grounded. When Alderpaw gets turned away, Violetkit gets upset. She is guided away by a mysterious old grey molly, who apologises for what she’s going to go through, but she needs to be there. She is found by Sleekpaw, and the small group of apprentices and one confused kit head to the rogues. Thunderclan loses their collective minds, until Flamewish pops up, swearing to Pebbleshine that she and Yellowfang will be with her the whole time, and that Violetkit is going to be instrumental in saving the Clans, and restoring Skyclan. There are grumbles, and Twigkit is distraught, but everyone trusts Flamewish, even if they don’t fully understand WHY. Canon continues until…
Rain declares that the ill cats should be starved and Violetkit nopes out, with Needlepaw covering her exit. Rowanstar is relieved that she’s alright, and ecstatic when she askes to join Shadowclan, at Yellowfang’s urging. A message is sent to Pebbleshine, and the family has a quick reunion. Twigpaw tells Violetpaw about Ivyleaf being a great mentor, and Dawnpelt promises Pebbleshine that she’ll treat Violetpaw like her own kin. Canon continues until…
Mudstar gives the patrol access to the lungwort because he’s not terrible, but urges them to remember this kindness in the future. Some cats still die, and Rowanstar is seen as weak. When the rogues attack, Needletail convinces Rain to let Rowanstar, Goldenheart, and Tawnypelt go, with Dawnpelt refusing to leave. Alderpaw is officially named, choosing to honor his mentor as Aldernose. Back at the rogue camp, Needletail dreams of meeting a tom named Tree.
Aldernose has a vision of Skyclan, and has a freakout; Brightstar insists on hearing about the dream as they prepare for battle. The clans go after the Kin, but Sleekwhisker stops their sneak attack. Violetpaw tackles Twigpaw, whispering to play along - the two fake tussle until Twigpaw gets her leg twisted on accident. The clans retreat, and Sandstorm and Ashfur realize that Ferncloud and Dustpelt are missing; the two are found side by side, killed in the fight. The mourning is visceral, and Cloudtail is devastated to have lost someone else he considered family.
At the gathering, the clans squabble over what could have happened. Aldernose and Sparkpelt figure out that they should find Skyclan, but a cloud disrupts the meeting. As soon as they get back, the siblings talk to Brightstar, and she goes with a patrol to inform her fellow leaders. In the Kin Camp, a tom named Murk tries to kill Rain but fails, and is killed. Violetpaw is horrified, and Yellowfang and Flamewish comfort her in her dreams. Canon continues until…
Aldernose has another vision, and figures out that Skyclan is close, and talks to Pebbleshine. She identifies Hawkwing, and Twigpaw is excited to hear her father is close. Brightstar calls for them to wait a bit, as they have new kits and enemies to battle, and Pebbleshine quietly agrees. The next morning, Twigpaw is missing. Purdy, who hasn’t been feeling well, helps the search. Meanwhile, Dawnpelt is nearly killed by Sleekwhisker, but manages to play dead. Canon continues until…
Riverclan is defeated, and Darkmoon and Aldernose get the herb stores together. Needletail quietly apologises to Aldernose, and slips the red feather back to him as a promise to get Violetpaw out. Meanwhile, Dawnpelt sneaks into Thunderclan, crippled but alive, and apologizing for leaving Violetpaw behind. Canon continues until…
Twigpaw escapes from the vet, and follows the sunset. She is brought to the temporary camp by a gray tom named Shimmerstep, and introduces herself to Leafstar. Hawkwing and everyone else lose it hearing that Pebbleshine and Mistfeather are alive, and prepare to move out. Canon continues until…
Thunderclan and the reunited Shadowclan return to Thunderclan camp. Violetpaw leans against her mother, grieving for Needletail. Suddenly, Twigpaw’s voice rings out. Pebbleshine, Twigpaw, Mistfeather, and Aldernose burst into camp - and Pebbleshine locks eyes with Hawkwing. She screams in joy, he throws himself forward, and Mistfeather hollers out a fervent greeting. Skyclan descends on their missing members like a tidal wave, laughing and crying and cheering. Sandstorm greets Leafstar, and introduces Brightstar.
At the Moonpool, Longstar greets the medicine cats, and tells them to remember their names, and what they mean. They figure it out, and the battle begins.
As the fight rages on, Rain sees that he is Losing, and turns to flee. Mistfeather blocks his path, rage in his eyes. The two wrestle towards the lake, but Rain is winning. And then a blur of dark brown. Purdy, feeling his heart failing, hearing his old friend Mousefur calling him, bolted out of camp. He was a fighter once, and by Starclan he will NOT go out quietly! His blow knocks all of them into the lake, and the pair of old warriors drag the monster under. Cats wail, and the Kin flee. The battle is won, the dead are mourned (among the dead is Whitestorm, unwilling to stay in the elder’s den), and Violetpaw and Twigpaw wonder where they will end up - Thunderclan? Skyclan? Shadowclan?
Somewhere nearby, Tree is visited by the ghost of Needletail, and he comforts her as she grieves for her lost future and poor choices.
Back at camp, Tinycloud and recent Skyclan inductee Honeythroat are checked over by Darkmoon and Lionblossom. The two overhear Sparkpelt complain that Skyclan doesn’t belong, and Aldernose swats at his sister, who grouses about being crowded.
At the Gathering, Rowanstar gets yelled at, and Tawnypelt steps in, reminding them that they all lost someone. Everyone has a moment of silent remembrance, and Mistystar closes out by closing the borders for a bit. Hawkfrost bids his family farewell for now, and heads back with his clan. Tawnypelt offers a chunk of Shadowclan, and Leafstar accepts. Canon continues until…
Violetpaw and Twigpaw ask their parents about how they fell in love, leading to mushy smooches, yuck stop ew! Shortly after, poor Finpaw nearly gets Smushed, but gets shoved by Twigpaw. His tail trapped, Dewpaw runs to camp while Twigpaw runs for Embertail HELP MY DUDE MY GUY IS STUCK!!! Canon continues until…
Ivyleaf and Fernsong Have A Mature Discussion Like Adults, and decide to have kits in the future. Fernsong is Thrilled to raise some kits while his Hot Wife brings home the bacon!
Leafstar sends Hawkwing, Violetpaw, Magyver, and Rabbitleap to get the Clan back together, with Mistlenose volunteering to help. Canon continues until…
Twigpaw visits Finpaw, and the two hold a funeral for his tail. It was a good tail, always had his back, keeping him balanced, oh how I’ll miss it boo hoo! Canon continues until…
Mudstar is Concerned, and ups patrols, with Kestrelflight judging him. Lionblossom is glad Aunt Brightstar listens to him, and instead is concerned about Riverclan. Canon continues until…
Goldenheart and Dovewing meet in secret, discussing the strange dreams they’ve been having. Twigpaw and Finpaw accidentally spy on them. Canon continues until…
Dovewing goes missing! Well, not fully missing; she told Ivyleaf about the dreams, and seeing that Goldenheart is unconcerned, she thinks it’s Starclan Nonsense Again. The rockfall in camp is more concerning, with Ashfur’s leg being crippled. Canon continues until…
Violetpaw is led to Tree, who’s really chill about the Literal Ghost of Needletail staring him down. Like she’s got a menacing stare and he’s just cold as leafbare.
At Gathering, Rowanstar steps down at Goldenheart’s disappearance, nearly offering to join the clans when Tawnypelt steps up - she will NOT abandon Shadowclan, and her son WILL be back! She does offer to share their land completely. The Skyclan patrol returns with the missing cats, and while all is not well it’s better. Canon continues until…
Twigpaw talks to her parents and Leafstar, and rejoins Thunderclan with Finpaw right behind her. Violetpaw becomes Violetshine, and Tree shows Rowanstar the Ghosts. This does not dissuade him from renouncing his leadership. At all. If a ghost told me to shape up I’d at least take it into consideration.
Back at Thunderclan camp, Twigpaw and Finpaw are put on a short probation of sorts, under Sparkpelt and Larksong. Twigpaw is annoyed but kind of gets it? Meanwhile Violetshine tries to get Tree to Do Things. So far he’s managed to keep Shadowclan and Skyclan from biting each other’s heads off. Leafstar and Tawnypelt hmmmm in interest. Canon continues until…
Sleekwhisker reappears! Yarrowleaf is Pregananant, and when they get escorted from Clan lands, they glare at Rowanclaw and Tawnypelt. Canon continues until…
At the gathering, Tawnypelt and Leafstar inform everyone that since some of their clan have been sheltering Sleekwhisker and Yarrowleaf, they’ll be under observation officially until the kits are weaned. There are complaints but kits are to be protected! Canon continues until…
The Storm Begins. Briarlight is evacuated, Aldernose adopts some kittypets, Riverclan is oN FIRE?!?!!!? Skyclan hunkers down, and Tawnypelt puts her clan in gear to be helpful. After things start to calm down, with Riverclan moved and everyone finding each other, Lionblossom notes that Briarlight has been hiding an illness. She hasn’t been feeling well all day, but it’s nothing, right? Unfortunately it’s serious, and Briarlight joins Starclan surrounded by her family and clanmates. Velvet the kittypet is helpful in the grieving clan, tidying up the medicine den and keeping everyone together in their mourning. Canon continues until…
Yarrowleaf is found drowsy and alone, her kits missing. When Sleekwhisker is tracked down, she demands the head of Tawnypelt for the kits, so Rowanclaw knows the pain of losing their beloved mate. Rowanclaw steps up as an alternative sacrifice, and dies saving the kits. He tells his beloved that he’ll see her at her Leader Ceremony, and that their wayward son will be home soon. She heads for the Moonpool the next morning, emerging as Tawnystar, with a weight lifted from her shoulders. As she leaves, a furious yowl echoes - Sleekwhisker! She leaps, completely misses, and lands on her neck with a sickening CRUNCH. Embertail nudges her ms Keisha? Oh she dead.
Meanwhile, Velvet and Fuzzball return home, and Twigpaw and Finpaw become Twigbranch and Finleap. Hawkwing, Pebbleshine, and Violetshine head back to find Goldenheart, Dovewing, her kits, several loners, and more missing Shadowclan cats with even more kits.
Dovewing visits her sister, their kits playing in the sun. They’ll never be too far from each other, even though they’ll be in different clans. Tawnystar greets her clan, to raucous cheering. Aldernose returns Velvet’s toy, and promises to keep in touch.
Between books, Frostfoot passes away of old age in his sleep, and Ashfur semi-retires because of his leg. Flyshadow promises to follow after him soon, her joints have been aching.
Up in Starclan, the leaders crowd to watch the clans work. Rowanclaw joins them, backed by Longstar. Everyone agrees that there need to be five clans, but trouble lies ahead. Again. There are complaints of why are the clans so DRAMATIC can’t we have just a normal year?!?
Back at Thunderclan, Twigbranch tries to Mentor, and gets a little frustrated. Finleap sympathizes. The pair and their apprentices find Puddleshine stuck and bring him back to camp. Embertail is informed and Very Concerned. Canon continues until…
Darkmoon sees a rabbit eating deathberries and makes a connection. The treatment begins, with patient approval of course. Canon continues until…
After the argument at the Gathering, Tawnystar visits Thunderclan and is Very Concerned with them literally poisoning one of her healers. Mollified by Puddleshine agreeing, they head to camp with Embertail informed of the Treatment Plan. Canon continues until…
At shadowclan camp, little Shadowkit has a seizure. Nearby Yellowfang is appalled by accidentally triggering it. She just wanted to visit her so-many-greats-grandkit! Who decided to give another one of my relatives Powers so help me I’ll flatten them! Canon continues until…
Finleap is escorted to camp, and Brightstar is dissapointed. She would have given permission but nooooo now he’s grounded. Canon continues until…
The medicine cats go to the moonpool, Embertail commenting that he thinks Shadowkit will be Puddleshine’s apprentice in the future. Canon continues until…
Skyclan is having A Bad Time heading back to the gorge, and the spirits of Echosong and Mistfeather are being Judgy. But on they go. Canon continues until…
Embertail is told by Shadowkit that Juniperclaw has been Lurking by the Deathberries. This is Very Concerning. Tawnystar is informed, and a subtle eye is kept on the accused poisoner. Canon continues until…
Up in the trees, Skyclan is really regretting leaving. Leafstar almost drowns, but Finleap and the Volunteer Rescue Squad get everyone to safety. Tree and Violetshine reunite, and it’s very sappy.
Back at Shadowclan, Tawnystar and Embertail question Juniperclaw, and he fesses up. After being Mom-Scolded and Kindly-Brother-Scolded, an unbeatable duo. Canon continues until…
Violetshine falls in the floodwaters, and struggles to rescue Shadowkit. Juniperclaw tries to redeem himself, and as Violetshine tries to pull him up, he does a Zira from TLK2 and drops back into the waters. Tree goes bruh f in chat for that guy, and Magyver says what are you even saying weirdo.
The clans reunite. Land is sectioned off again. Violetshine might be pregnant? Twigbranch and Finleap sit side by side. Mistlenose and Aldernose watch the stars, seeing their family’s spirits watching from above. All is well for now, and isn’t that lovely?
-Collapses- THE END BABY! I’ll be taking quite a Cat Writing Break, but filling in will be The Hypokit Marathon! I have my backlog, and Will be drawing them All, regardless of who requested them. It’ll be normal rules for new ones though. Have a lovely summer you fantastic people!

MAN avos could have been so interesting. There’s all this theming of light vs shadows and things happening where you can’t see them (this being the first series excepting night whispers where multi clan pov is featured) ESPECIALLY wrt deaths (pebbleshine, needletail, onestar, darktail) where you just…..don’t get to see it. that’s so cool! and not to mention the ALMOST theme names of violet and twig (iirc twig was SUPPOSED to be twigSHADE). but noooooo that’s just thrown out the window and not explored in a meaningful way it drives me insane

Pebbleshine’s last words were:
“No! I have to get back to my kits! Put me down! I have to get back to my kits!”

My least favorite retcons include:
- whatever the hell they did to Ravenpaw in Redtail’s Debt, Redtail’s Debt as a whole
- them making Onestar, Morningflower, and Ashfoot siblings, while also confirming that Heathertail is his daughter
- the whole Hollowflight/Ivypool friendship being erased
- Sorreltail’s entire death??
- Fernsong being retroactively confirmed to have actually raised the kits when there was no mention of it/scene of him doing so in the actual books
- Goldenflower being made to be around Bluestar’s age is uncomfortable given the fact that Frostfur was left behind with the other elders despite being Bluestar’s apprentice
- Making Bluestar much younger than it’s implied she was in the main series, thinking of the line where it says something akin to “most of these cats never lived under a leader besides Bluestar”
And not necessary retcons but Frostfur and Brindleface being sisters is so bad. Lionheart being Frostfur’s mate is bad since it retroactively makes TigerDove distantly related. Hawkwing and Pebbleshine being cousins, hell just the amount of inbreeding in SkyClan despite being made up of unrelated rogues, kittypets, etc.
NO CAUSE YOURE SO RIGHT!!! no real opinion on ravenpaw’s change cause i haven’t read redtails debt, but i did hear that they just completely forgot that its a critical detail that redtail didnt kill oakheart. which is just so funny to me. good job everybody
honestly i just get the vibe that they made onestar and ashfoot siblings just to piss off the fandom. cause like theres no way in hell that they’re unaware of the incest at this point. like. idk this is on the same level to me as “omg lets make pebblehawk first cousins!”
SORRELTAIL OH MY GOD people forget that was actually a retcon. she was perfectly fine in the last hope, vicky just really really hated her and wanted her in the dirt (you may think im being hyperbolic but, like, no, vicky actually ranted about how “boring” she was when a fan asked how she felt about her parents and kids’ deaths and said ‘she isnt miserable enough shes too happy and thats stupid”. it literally is in there cause vicky put her through hell and back and couldnt get enough of that. and people think the misogyny in this series is up for debate.)
ohhhhh my god all the tpb age retcons are so frustrating. its worse cause like, why do snowfur and leopardfoot and all these cats give birth the second theyre out the warriors den? why is bluestar only about a year older than her nephew?? ive ranted about the shadowclan elders all being retconned to be super young actually, but its everywhere. (in razorverse i try to fix this by making snowfur and leopardfoot have whitekit and tigerkit wayyyyyyy later. like when theyre 4 instead of 1.)
-honestly 9/10 of the time, a family tree retcon is gonna be awful. who asked for spottedleaf to be tigerstar’s aunt. which deranged individual keeps insisting that whitestorm is ashfur and fernclouds dad.
adderswift isnt real. lets go get some ice cream
