Feedback Fest 2024
These are in no particular order and they are all from a few different fandoms. Just 10 fics that I love.
Increments of Longing by QuickYoke: Though I've read fic off and on for a number of years, this is the first fic that I loved as much as I loved my favorite books. The story is built well, the tension is built just right, and everything really pays off in the end. I'd only read a smattering of Jaina/Sylvanas fics before this, but it made me search out a lot more. Warcraft & World of Warcraft fandom | Jaina Proudmoore/Sylvanas Windrunner
of greater marvels yet to be by seabiscuit: I'm a sucker for religious questioning and queer desire. The build up is sooooo good, so many scenes felt so palpable. As a former Very Religious Kid(TM) who has a lot of complicated feelings about it, this did such a good job of holding the religious pieces gently in its hands while also not shying away from how complicated it makes everything and sometimes how uncomplicated it makes everything. Warrior Nun fandom | Ava Silva/Sister Beatrice
Equilibrium by caesurae: If someone had told me I'd ever read a Pacific Rim crossover I would have laughed. Especially if they told me that I would love it. The characters just really work here and I think it does a good job of showing how people can connect and love and understand each other even when it's not romantic. Overwatch fandom | Pharah/Mercy
the spectres vain by QuickYoke: this was the fic that got me into the Bly Manor fandom. I had really liked the show, but hadn't really explored much in the fandom. But I subscribe to QuickYoke and I got a notification about this fic and loved it. And then I loved many a Bly fic after. The Haunting of Bly Manor fandom | Dani Clayton/Jamie & Dani Clayton/Viola Lloyd/Jamie
i broke my bones playing games with you by mooosicaldreamz: I love Peggy Carter, and though Peggy/Angie isn't actually my favorite pairing, I think it's a great one. This is just a nice little modern day AU where Peggy is Captain America (written before we had our Captain Carter) and she meets Angie and they eventually fall in love. Agent Carter fandom | Peggy Carter/Angie Martinelli
not quite enemies, not quite allies by afterism: Peggy/Dottie is my favorite Peggy Carter pairing, though it doesn't necessarily lend itself to very longform fics. It's just smut, but I think it's a good enemies to lovers that moves very quickly and ends really believably. And kind of makes me wish there was more fic to go with it. Agent Carter fandom | Peggy Carter/Dottie Underwood
there's a funeral in your eyes by nirav: I love this for everything that goes through Ava's mind as she is dealing with the person she loves being possessed and trying to kill her. I really love this scene being reimagined as if Beatrice had been possessed, and I especially love how this fic does it. Warrior Nun fandom | Ava Silva/Sister Beatrice
Three Nights by lecriteuse: In Dragon Age: Origins I've always had my warden romance Leliana. She's my favorite character, I like having her around as much as possible no matter what game I'm playing. But when I met Josephine and had her tell me a bit of her background, I restarted my game and made it so my warden had never romanced Leliana so I could let her and Josephine have a go at it before Inquisition. This fic does a great job of putting that into writing. Dragon Age: Inquisition fandom | Leliana/Josephine Montilyet
who needs comfortable love by the_ominous_owl: This was just a really fun take on the Warrior Nun mythology. And a really well thought out and written play on it. Considering we'll only have the two seasons, this slots in really nicely to the gaps of questions left behind. It's also really cute. Warrior Nun fandom | Ava Silva/Sister Beatrice
bring home a haunting by QuickYoke and youngbloodbuzz: If the spectres vain is what got me into the Bly Manor fandom, then this is what made me stay. I looked forward to this fic every week, often staying up very late as the chapters got longer. This is the fic I return to when I finish a rewatch because it does a really good job of conveying a lot of the same emotions and themes. Bly Manor's big theme of ghost stories and love stories being the same thing is really, really present here: what if the the ghosts of our past came back and our emotions continued to haunt us until we confronted them? The Haunting of Bly Manor fandom | Dani Clayton/Jamie

PEGGY CARTER IS BISEXUAL
and I stand by this statement very willingly. Here are my reasons why:
chemistry between Peggy and Dottie in "Agent Carter"
chemistry between Natasha and Captain Peggy Carter in "What if..?"
chemistry between Peggy and Angie in "Agent Carter"
lives in a house full of girls
is a queen pussy boss
lost her roommate (wife) on "Agent Carter"; mentally destroyed her to distance herself from everyone she loves including Angie
Her brother convinces her that Fred (her fiance) is not the answer to her life, that it is not who she is. Very queer-coded scene if you ask me.
makeup always on point
her hair
made me gay so... must be coming from somewhere
has a matching shield with Nat in "What if...?" (Shield babes)
nearly killed a man in the diner when he catcalled Angie (same tbh)
because half of tumblr would seem to agree with it and tumblr tends to be always right
yall let me know if there's more,,, can't think of any but im sure theres more hidden and sprinkled around MCU

Angie: Peggy, what's your secret to being so strong and confident? Peggy: Well, I have a strict diet and exercise routine, and I also happen to be a badass supersoldier. Angie: Oh, I was hoping it was something I could do too...

Title: Opening Night AO3: Part of “Agent Carter Bingo Moodboards” Rating: General Warnings: None Relationship: Peggy Carter/Angie Martinelli Word Count: 137 Additional Tags: Moodboard, Drabble, -Ish, Fluff, Established Relationship, Backstage, Acting, Nervousness, Pet Names, Nervous Angie Martinelli, Summary: Backstage buzzed with nervous excitement, so no one gave a second thought to Angie’s pacing. Notes: Made for the @agentcarterbingo prompt “Nervous.”
After weeks of preparation, opening night finally arrived. Backstage buzzed with nervous excitement, so no one gave a second thought to Angie’s pacing. She peaked behind the curtain for what must have been the eighth time in as many minutes, scanning the audience for any sign of Peggy.
Still nothing.
She sighed, ready to resume her pacing when a stagehand interrupted her.
Showtime.
Angie hurried to her mark and with the rise of the curtain all thoughts and worries fell away. She’d always known she was meant for this, for the stage, and the way her words and actions flowed so effortlessly proved that to her with each and every second.
Only to be tripped up ever so slightly when her eyes locked on another pair in the front row.
Peggy smiled as she mouthed, Hello, darling.

Written for day six of Peggysous Week, hosted by @peggysousweek !
Fandom: Marvel
Day Six Prompts: “I could never move on from you”, Coffee, Blind Date, Confession
Summary: Daniel and Peggy have clearly had feelings for each other much longer than either is willing to admit. After Peggy said no to drinks and Daniel moved to LA to forget his heartbreak, it seemed like they'd missed their chance. When newly-single Daniel moves back to New York, however, they have an opportunity for a second chance. And their friends are going to make SURE they don't miss it.

Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
"What the hell are you doing in here?"
Jack Thompson slowly looked up from his newspaper and peeked up at the person standing before him from under the brim of his hat. Angie Martinelli stood before him, hands on her hips and tapping her foot as she stared down the SSR chief.
"How did you know it was me?" he asked. He'd worn a coat and hat and brought a newspaper all in the hopes of not being recognized.
"Are you kidding me? You stick out like a sore thumb wearing that getup. Now what are you doing in my diner?"
Jack ducked his head and spoke quietly, hoping he could still avoid detection if he really needed to.
"Is Marge here?"
"Who the hell is Marge?"
Jack sighed heavily. Slowly, he looked up to meet Angie's eyes with a glare. She glared right back.
"Peggy."
"No, she's not here. Why?"
"You ask a hell of a lot of questions, you know that?"
"Yeah, and you duck a hell of a lot of answers. Now tell me what's going on or I'm calling Peggy right now and telling her you're here."
Jack sighed and ran a hand over his face. Then, he slid over in his seat and gestured for Angie to join him. She just stared back, but something in his face managed to convince her to sit with a huff.
"Daniel's coming back to town," said Jack, keeping his voice low.
"Am I supposed to know what the hell that means?" Angie demanded. Jack whipped off his hat and slammed it onto the table along with the newspaper, finally giving up the charade.
"Alright, don't play dumb with me. You're Carter's best friend. You're clearly smarter than shit, especially since you managed to lie right to me and Sousa last year. So I know you're not blind, and I know you must've noticed how Carter and Sousa look at each other."
"So what if I do?" asked Angie, pointedly looking anywhere but at Jack as she picked at her nails.
"So they were both too dumb to do anything about it before. They missed their shot, and Sousa left for LA. But now he's coming back, and they've got a rare second chance. You and I both know they're gonna miss it if we leave them to their own devices."
"What are you saying?" asked Angie, at last dropping all her fake-aloofness and giving Jack her full attention.
"I'm saying if we ever want to see those two end up together–if I ever want to go into my place of work in peace without those idiots pining from opposite sides of the office for the rest of our lives–you and I need to step in and do something."
Angie paused, taking in the blond before her. He met her stare with unflinching determination.
"Alright," she said after a minute, shifting in her seat to face Jack a little more. "I'm in. What's your plan?"
****************
"Yes, Angie, I promise to stay for at least one cup of coffee," sighed Peggy. She leaned against the wall, phone pressed to her ear as Angie Martinelli read her the riot act on the other line. "I know, I know, we have a deal– listen, Angie, I've got to go. He could arrive while I'm back here talking to you and then I won't be able to stay for coffee because he'll have left-"
Angie chattered away for a few more minutes, but Peggy finally managed to get her off the phone. The firey New Yorker had pressured and guilted Peggy every day until she'd agreed to go on a blind date set up by Angie, and now Angie had called the cafe to make sure Peggy didn't back out of it. Peggy had sworn again and again that she'd at least stay through for one cup of coffee, but Angie had apparently wanted to hear her promise one more time.
It wasn't making Peggy feel any better about the date, honestly. Why did Angie feel she needed to make Peggy swear on their friendship to stay through one cup of coffee? Could the guy be that bad, whoever he was?
Peggy sat down at her table again, trying not to let her imagination run too wild. She'd only been at the cafe for a few minutes, but the lack of action had her twitching and jittering like she'd been there much longer.
She busied herself by observing the other patrons at their tables, and scanning the faces of the people who entered. She did a double-take, however, when she saw a familiar face come through the door.
"Daniel!" she called, waving him over with a smile. He lit up when he saw her, but confusion quickly replaced his smile.
"Peggy? What are you doing here?"
"Oh," Peggy flushed, suddenly incredibly embarrassed. "Angie set me up on some... blind date. I normally wouldn't let her convince me, but... well, this time she wouldn't take no for an answer."
"Wait, really?" asked Daniel.
"Yes, I'm afraid so. What are you doing here?"
"Same thing," he said, sounding absolutely bewildered. "Thompson's been on me since the minute I got back into town, wanting to set me up with somebody. He told me to come here, and made me swear not to leave until after I'd at least had one coffee."
"...Daniel, are you joking?"
"No. Why?"
"Because Angie made me promise the same thing."
The two just stared at each other for a few moments as the realization sunk in.
"Did they just set us up with each other?" asked Daniel. Peggy huffed, trying to process her shock.
"I believe so."
An awkward silence stretched between them, neither quite sure what to say next.
"Well..." Peggy finally started, mustering all her courage. She'd been in the war, dammit, she could do this. "I promised Angie I'd at least stay for one coffee."
"Yeah, and Thompson's paying as part of our deal, so... we'd be crazy to waste that."
"Right. Then let's go put in our orders."
Daniel smiled even as he fought the urge to run out of the cafe and never look back. He and Peggy had spent plenty of time together over the years, but never in a context even close to this. The one time he'd asked her, she'd shot him down. He took a deep breath as they headed for the counter together. He'd been in the war, dammit. He could do this.
Peggy and Daniel put in their orders, then sat back down at their table, two coffees in hand. They shared painfully awkward smiles, then both took sips of their coffee to avoid conversation. Finally, Peggy braced and made herself take the leap.
"So, this'll be a nice way for us to catch up now that you're back, won't it," she said with a tight smile. Daniel nodded, almost choking on his coffee as he rushed to answer.
He cleared his throat and tried not to look too flustered as he said, "Yeah. Yeah, it will. I... I uh, have to say, I missed you while I was gone."
"I missed you too," said Peggy with a soft smile. Daniel's heart melted, and it showed on his face. Everyone but Peggy could see how crazy he was about her. "How was Los Angeles?"
"It was good. I gotta say though, I missed New York. It's good to be back."
Peggy nodded and took another sip of her coffee. She used the time to fortify herself for her next question. She didn't really want to ask it, but she'd also go crazy if she didn't get the answer.
"I know it's probably none of my business," she stared, carefully not looking Daniel in the eye. "But I have to ask... didn't you have a girlfriend in LA? Why is Thompson trying to set you up with someone else?"
Daniel laughed nervously and scratched the back of his neck, avoiding eye contact just as much as Peggy.
"Uh... yeah, I dated a nurse for a while but... it just didn't work out."
"...What happened?"
Daniel sighed. He did not want to have this conversation, but he also didn't have a great way out of it.
"Well... she was great, but I just... my head was somewhere else."
"Oh."
Peggy took another long sip of her coffee as she tried to process Daniel's words. There must be someone else, then, but who?
"Listen, Peggy, I gotta get something off my chest," said Daniel. He rushed his words a bit, mostly so he could get out everything he had to say before common sense made him shut up. "I promise to never bring this up again if you don't want me to but... I moved to LA to get away from you."
Peggy choked on her coffee.
"Oh! No, no, not like that!" rushed Daniel. He put his head in his hands and groaned before looking back at Peggy. "That's not what I meant at all."
"Then what did you mean?" she asked, trying to figure out just how offended she should be.
"Ah... I went to LA because I needed space to... deal with my feelings. For you. I thought a little distance would help me move on, but it didn't. I could never move on from you."
Daniel stared holes into the table as he finished his confession. He couldn't bring himself to look at Peggy, to see the rejection in her face. Fortunately for him, he didn't have to.
"Daniel..." Peggy reached across the table and gently put her hand on his. His head snapped up, eyes wide with hope as he met her gaze. "I didn't realize you felt that way."
"What?" asked Daniel, honestly shocked. "I... I mean, I asked you out before I left. Remember?"
"Yes, but Daniel... well, I don't know, that's different than this. A date is different than feelings that hold for months away."
"Well, I don't know what to tell you, Peg. And I'm sorry if I made this weird, I just-"
"Daniel, I feel the same way."
Daniel paused for a long moment. "...I'm sorry, could you say that again? I think my brain stopped working for a minute."
Peggy laughed. "I said that I feel the same way. I think just about everyone but us realized how we felt for each other. Rose stopped giving me updates on you after the first few weeks because every time she mentioned your girlfriend, I went almost silent for the rest of the call."
"Seriously?"
"Yes! Daniel, when you asked me to go out with you before you left... I still had a few things to work through. To be honest, I wasn't entirely sure you were asking me out as anything more than a friend. I never imagined that might be the last chance I got."
"Well then, I can't believe I'm about to say this, but... thank God for Thompson."
They shared a laugh, their faces absolutely lighting up as they stared into each others' eyes. Now that the confession was out there, they couldn't seem to look away.
"Well, if we really want to, we can just give Angie the credit."
Daniel laughed. "Let's go with that. It'll drive Thompson nuts, too, which is obviously a perk."
They shared a smile, the silence stretching between them now much more comfortable than before.
"So... what do we do now?" asked Peggy with a little laugh. "I never quite considered what we'd do if we got to this point and you shared my feelings."
"Well fortunately for you, I've done almost nothing but think about it," said Daniel, standing from the table and offering a hand to Peggy. She took it and stood with him. "I think it was the biggest problem for my relationship with Violet."
Peggy grinned. "Does it make me a bad person for being happy that didn't work out?"
"Nah. I think everybody would agree it was for the best. Violet included."
"So, where are we off to?" asked Peggy. She still held Daniel's hand, a fact they were both absolutely giddy about.
"Well, we stayed for the cup of coffee we promised Angie and Thompson. What do you say we go get that drink from a few months ago?"
"I say absolutely yes," Peggy replied with a grin. "Better late than never, after all."
"You're damned right it is."
Peggy and Daniel's faces had already started hurting from smiling, but that didn't stop them from absolutely beaming as they walked out of the cafe together, hand in hand. It had taken a longer path and a stranger route than either of them would've liked, but Daniel and Peggy were together at last.
Everything was right with the world.

Invite Me to the Wedding
Anon - you asked for something Captain Carter/Angie. I hope you enjoy this!
"Look, grandma, you need to put yourself out there. It's been what? Eighty years since you last saw action?"
Peggy wrinkled her nose in distaste and took another bite of her sandwich.
Natasha smirked. "Hit a little too close to home?"
Peggy finished her ham and cheese and slowly drank the last few sips of her water.
Natasha laughed. "What about Nate Matthews in R&D? You've talked to him a few times."
Peggy shook her head. "He's pleasant, but not my type."
Natasha leaned closer. "What about Couls-"
Peggy held up a finger and glared. "His hero worship aside, Phil Coulson is like a younger brother to me, and the mere thought of entertaining him in that capacity is horrifying." Peggy's glare faltered when their waitress, Angie, stopped and set a slice of pie in front of each of them.
Peggy looked up in confusion. "We didn't order any pie."
Angie smiled. "They're on the house."
"Oh, that's awfully kind of you," Peggy said.
"I know you like the apple pie here," Angie continued. She looked toward Natasha. “Your pal here has a bigger sweet tooth than anyone I’ve ever met. How come I’ve never seen you around?”
Peggy seemed at a loss for words, and Natasha was intrigued.
"If you ladies need anything else, let me know," Angie said, and Natasha could swear she heard the disappointment in her voice.
"Yes, of course," Peggy murmured. "Thank you, ah, Angie."
"My pleasure, Captain Carter." She glanced at Natasha before shifting her attention back to Peggy. "See you for lunch tomorrow?" she asked.
Peggy's ears turned red, but she nodded.
"Can't wait," Angie smiled, delight evident in her eyes. She laid the check on the table and hurried away toward another customer.
Natasha grinned. So, that's how it was.
As Peggy watched Angie leave, Natasha leaned over and poked her in the arm.
"Wow," she teased.
"Don't be crass."
Natasha laughed. "You're ancient, Cap, but you're not dead."
"What's that supposed to mean," Peggy huffed.
"Please. She likes you."
Peggy frowned. "Don't be daft. She's just being friendly."
Natasha laughed. "Right, and I was just Tony’s assistant."
"How he manages to be more insufferable than Howard is still a mystery."
"Regardless," Natasha said, "It's obvious that you like her. How often do you come here, anyway?"
Peggy blushed.
"Twice a week?"
"It doesn't matter.”
"Four times a week?"
"I like the food here," Peggy protested.
"Cap, are you here every day?" Natasha teased.
Peggy shot her a dirty look. "I am not here every day."
"You take the Sabbath off?"
Peggy rolled her eyes and picked up the check. "May we go?"
"Only if you promise to ask her out."
"What?"
"Ask her out. That’s allowed now, you know,"
"No."
Natasha grinned. "If you don't, I will."
Peggy glared at her. "You'll do no such thing."
"Watch me."
Natasha lifted a finger to get Angie's attention and motioned for her to come over.
"Stop it," Peggy hissed.
"Last chance," Natasha grinned as Angie arrived at the table.
"Did you need something else?"
Natasha smirked. "My friend wants to ask you a question."
Peggy looked like she wanted to murder Natasha, but her anger deflated when Angie trained her gaze on her.
"Yes?"
Peggy looked at Angie with uncertainty, and Angie looked equally uncomfortable in return.
Natasha sighed. Peggy was acting like a teenager. She might be a war hero, but if she didn't find her footing, this Cap would crash and burn before ever leaving the runway. She opened her mouth to put them out of their misery, but Peggy spoke first, apparently having found her resolve.
"Might I borrow your pen?"
"My pen?" Angie asked, confused.
Peggy nodded.
"Um, sure," Angie said. She reached into her pocket and produced a cheap click pen.
"Thank you," Peggy said. She smiled at Angie and then looked expectantly at Natasha. "Your half is fourteen dollars."
Natasha reached into her wallet and handed Peggy twenty.
Peggy took it, scribbled something across their check, and then placed Natasha's money and another twenty atop it. She handed the pen back to Angie and smiled.
"Thank you, Angie. We don't need any change."
Angie appeared confused, but she took the pen and picked up the money and check. As she read Peggy's message, she began to smile, and when she looked up, her cheeks were pink.
"I would love to," she told Peggy.
"Excellent," Peggy murmured.
Angie smiled shyly. "And I can text you at this number?"
Peggy looked embarrassed. "It might be easier if you called. I'm still getting the hang of texting."
"Sounds good." Angie winked
"I look forward to it.”
Angie beamed. "Me too." She glanced at a booth a few rows over and bit her lip. "I have to go, but I'll call," she promised as she scurried away.
Natasha grinned at Peggy as she gathered her things.
"Stop staring."
"I'm not."
"You are," Peggy growled. "I can feel it."
Natasha shrugged. "You know, Stark told me paranoia is a side effect of the thawing process."
Peggy rolled her eyes. "Oh, do shut up."
Natasha laughed and grabbed her pack as she made her way to the door. "I only have one request, Cap."
Peggy narrowed her eyes. "I'm afraid to ask, but I will."
Natasha stepped through and allowed Peggy to exit first.
"Send me a wedding invite, okay?"
The horrified look on Peggy's face was well worth the punch in the arm. Natasha continued laughing as Peggy stalked down 42nd Street and made a note to remind her of this moment the day Peggy married that waitress. She wouldn’t be surprised.
