Rovin D4 Cabriolet - 1951 by Perico001 The front and rear of this car are the same. The small wheels and high-looking body give the Rovin the appearance of a pedal car. Yet, for such a small car, the Rovin has surprisingly advanced technology, such as a three-speed synchronised gearbox and independent suspension. The initial models were fitted with a 260 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, but this was soon replaced by a 462 cc water-cooled flat-twin. Frenchman Robert de Rovin was building motorcycles in the 1920s, as well as a couple of cycle-cars for his personal use. After World War II he started producing small cars. Although later models like this D4 were fitted with a 13 hp 462 cc engine, the Rovins were not able to compete with the Citroën 2CV and the marque disappeared in 1958. Rovins were imported in the Netherlands by Louwman & Parqui. Louwman Museum Den Haag - The Hague Nederland - Netherlands August 2012 https://flic.kr/p/2mNHpQD

De Dion-Bouton & Trepardoux Steam Quadricycle - 1887
flickr
De Dion-Bouton & Trepardoux Steam Quadricycle - 1887 by Perico001 Via Flickr: This De Dion-Bouton & Trepardoux is one of the oldest surviving motorcars in the world. With its steam boiler located at the front and connecting rods to the rear wheels, it resembles a tank locomotive but is nevertheless one of the first usable, and therefore successful, applications of a steam engine in a small motorcar. The twin-cylinder compound engine installed under the floor could be operated by one man, eliminating the need for an additional stoker. The water tank was located underneath the seats and the coal bunker surrounded the boiler. The vehicle could get up steam within 50 minutes and could reach a top speed of approximately 60 km/h. The company De Dion, Bouton et Trépardoux was one of the first car manufac-turers. It was established in 1880 outside Paris by the brothers-in-law Georges Bouton and Charles Trépardoux, initially to make toy steam engines. Their sophisticated craftsmanship caught the attention of the count Albert de Dion, who proceeded to finance the production of steam-driven vehicles. In 1889, when De Dion attended the Paris Exhibition, he saw a petrol engine for the first time. He immediately recognised its potential and went on to develop one himself. Trépardoux however, wanted to carry on with steam and left in 1893. Louwman Museum Den Haag - The Hague Nederland - Netherlands March 2013

Jaguar XJ 220 - 1992
"The XJ 220 was developed from a V12-engined 4WD concept car, unveiled in 1998. Approximately 1.500 deposits were taken. Engineering and emissions requirements resulted in significant changes to the specification of the XJ 220, most notably the replacement of the V12 by a twin-turbo V6 of 3.498 cc developing 542 hp and a RWD concept instead of 4WD Yet is was one of the most expensive production cars at that time. As a result, many buyers choose not to exercise their purchase options. A total of just 275 cars were produced between 1992-1994. It's name is pure Jaguar tradition: 220 refers to the top speed in mph, or 354 km/h."
