do you ever feel like you're doing a bad job at being human? like, you're not doing it right? as though everyone else got the handbook in kindergarten but you were too busy being hospitalized, so you missed that day. it wasn't included in the make-up assignments, wasn't slipped in between phonics worksheets. how to exist: a primer for living. we had a different word for that in my family. it was called the bible. my daddy said being catholic means that everything's the same, all around the world. same prayers, same bible, same parishes with the bitchy moms and potluck dinners. that's what catholic means, you know. 'universal.'
well, everyone i knew was part of this universal sameness of living so i thought i better join in too. i surrendered to the slough of sameness. i wanted to get an a+ in living, something that is of course normal and possible to achieve. when i was a teenager i learned about this thing called 'the world.' 'the world' was for people who didn't do a good job at living. this was a world i did not know a country i have never travelled, gladly beyond. the world was another kind of sameness that i was not privy too, a wildness that seemed more sacred than the exultet on easter night. what do you mean, there are other ways to live?

my sister is a (student) elementary teacher. she taught me school all growing up, first bc my mom did not care, and then bc teachers hated me, esp math teachers.
we were talking recently about how my brain works differently (since she's one of the only 'adults' in my life growing up who bothered to learn how i learn, she's gonna be a great teacher, i could go on). anyway i mentioned that it's really hard for me to read numbers in a horizontal line:
2, 3, 7, 9, 12, 14, 21
i need to read them vertically, to the point where i'll rewrite lists of numbers on tests/worksheets:
21 14 12 9 7 3 2
so a couple weeks later she was working with this kid, like 8 ish, who can't read at all, and she had phonics cards on the desk that she would put together to make a word, but he couldn't get it.
so she decided to pick up the cards and hold them in the air in front of him instead. and he got it!!!
all this to say, 1) do not ever assume that because someone hasn't gotten something very basic that it's their fault, 2) learn to adapt to brains because maybe something just needs to be literally angled differently and you have a really smart kid, and 3) kids NEED more time and attention and focus and teachers need to be treated a lot fucking better because we need people like my sister and not the teachers i grew up with

How to Select the Best English Worksheets for Preschoolers in Nursery
Selecting the right pre school nursery English worksheets is a crucial step in a child's early education journey. These worksheets play a significant role in building a strong foundation in language and literacy skills. In this article, we'll explore how parents can make informed choices when it comes to picking the right pre school nursery English worksheets.
Tumblr media
1. Curriculum Alignment:
One of the first considerations should be whether the worksheets align with a recognized curriculum. Ensure that the worksheets are designed to support the developmental milestones and learning objectives appropriate for your child's age and grade level.
2. Age-Appropriate Content:
Choose worksheets that are age-appropriate. Pre school nursery English worksheets should be engaging and tailored to suit the cognitive abilities and interests of young children. Look for worksheets that include activities like coloring, tracing, and simple puzzles.
3. Variety of Topics:
Opt for worksheets that cover a wide range of topics within English language development. This may include worksheets on letters, phonics, vocabulary, handwriting, and basic reading comprehension.
4. Clear Instructions:
Check if the worksheets come with clear and concise instructions that your child can follow independently or with minimal guidance. The instructions should be easy for both parents and children to understand.
5. Visual Appeal:
Engaging visuals and colorful illustrations can make learning more exciting for preschoolers. Look for worksheets that are visually appealing to capture your child's attention.
6. Skill Progression:
Choose a set of worksheets that provide a clear progression of skills. The worksheets should start with basic concepts and gradually increase in complexity to challenge your child's growing abilities.
7. Interactive Worksheets:
Interactive worksheets that involve activities such as matching, sorting, and drawing can make learning fun and hands-on. Interactive elements keep children engaged and motivated.
8. Free Samples or Trials:
Many online platforms offer free samples or trials of their worksheets. Take advantage of these offers to assess the quality and suitability of the worksheets for your child before making a purchase.
9. Reviews and Recommendations:
Read reviews or seek recommendations from other parents or teachers who have used the worksheets. Their insights can help you make an informed decision and for that there are lots of school apps for parents.
10. Compatibility with Learning Style:
Consider your child's learning style. Some children may benefit from visual aids, while others may prefer auditory or kinesthetic learning. Choose worksheets that align with your child's learning style.
11. Flexibility and Customization:
Check if the worksheets can be customized or adapted to meet your child's specific learning needs. Flexibility in using the worksheets allows for a more personalized learning experience.
12. Digital or Print:
Decide whether you prefer digital worksheets that can be accessed online or printed worksheets. Consider what works best for your child's learning environment and your own convenience.
13. Cost and Value:
Evaluate the cost of the worksheets in relation to the content and features offered. Sometimes, investing in high-quality worksheets can be a valuable educational resource.
In conclusion, choosing the right pre school nursery English worksheets involves considering factors such as curriculum alignment, age-appropriateness, variety of topics, clarity of instructions, visual appeal, skill progression, interactivity, and compatibility with your child's learning style. Reading reviews and seeking recommendations can provide valuable insights. Ultimately, the goal is to provide your child with engaging and effective resources that support their English language development during the crucial preschool years of all the best preschools in India.
