PHYLLIS GALEMBO (born 1952) is an American photographer whose remarkable career photographing ritual dress and masquerade from around the globe expresses a phenomenal range of political, artistic, theatrical, social and religious meanings.

El debate del siglo

Siempre se dijo que Pulcro Fantatrossi poseía “una lengua filosa”. Pero cuando, al pronunciar las primeras palabras, las orejas de Malto Vanduco cayeron cortadas de cuajo, hubo televidentes sorprendidos. Y más aún cuando Malto, con su temple habitual, sacó aguja e hilo y cosió ambos agujeros en un santiamén mientras, con su verba corrosiva, corroyó la lengua de su enemigo. Ya el tercer candidato, Fulgio Guviérrez, había quedado sin ojos al ser encandilado por una ráfaga de verdades cantadas por los dos primeros y ahora, ante la dificultad de una contienda justa entre un ciego, un sordo y un mudo, se decidió dar por terminado el debate.

Sin embargo, como en el arte de la política todo tiene solución, los tres candidatos, Pulcro, Malto y Fulgio, conformaron una alianza que gobernó la República con tullida ecuanimidad, para inmensa alegría de todos los votantes.
