What have been BLs that took you by surprise this year?

Love In The Air: I wasn’t expecting to love this show AT ALL I thought it was going to be manageable to get through but I had know idea this was going to one of of my favorite shows of 2022, now I will say ep 1 wasn’t my fav it reminded me of 2017/2018 BL and I didn't like it i thought that was going to be the vibe of the whole show but in between ep 1 and 2 I got oddly really excited about it coming on and I don't even know what changed cause it's not like I saw a episode that changed my mind it was when it wasn't on that I started to like it for some reason so from ep 2 and on I was always excited to watch the new episode, and obviously the special episode goes without mentioning,,,,,god

Ghost Host Ghost House: I don’t like supernatural BLs very much so I was a bit wary going in, cause I didn’t know how the ghost situation was going to be, if plume was going to be a ghost or Kevin idk, I didn’t want a 'fall in love with a ghost' storyline but when it was revealed that the family was a ghost I was a bit more interested and I enjoyed the lore of the ghost/ ghost world so I stuck around but with one foot out the door I started this show and I planned on dropping it I just never planned on finishing it I didn’t put it on my Mdl but honestly I kept watching it cause I forgot that I was supposed to drop it and then episode 4 changed the game after episode 4 I was a goner everything on was so good

What have been BLs that you felt a bit disappointed with this year?

Physical Therapy: this show was unbelievably bad, it sucked so much it made no sense it was boring nothing was happening I hated the entire experience 

Check Out: horrible there were whole lotta unnecessary storylines going on, unnecessary messiest and not the good kind, scenes felt like they always went on for too long and it just felt like everyone was doing the same thing over and over again and it definitely had more episodes than it needed to have

Well now I'm really curious ,what's physical therapy about and why is it so bad if I might ask? 👀?

It's just... badly acted and poorly written and the ending is an awful breaking up of a family unit and just... it's not worth the effort to watch.

The basic plot is that a very lonely boy decides to get injured because he's an idiot and got dumped (I... look, it didn't make a lot of sense) and meets a doctor in the hospital who takes cares of him and then, like, practically moves him in and it's just... it's this awkward slow burn where the patient is tsundere to the point of stupid and the doctor is just bland and no one matters and nothing really happens until it suddenly does and then we get this giant time skip at the end that just... none of it mattered.

It's not good and it's one I can't even try to fix because literally all of it is just... bad. And boring. So boring. That's one of the worst parts. It's not even bad and interesting.

It's a bad lowbudget BL and it's not worth the time it takes to watch. At all.

And what a surprise it was. Not gonna lie I almost drop it after 1 ep ( •̯́ ₃ •̯̀)  But I wanted to support Saint so I continue. And Im so happy I did cause this silly little show gave me all of the serotonin I needed ٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و ♡  One of the best friends group ever, truly important topics, love and support. This show is so endearing. The only minus is - not enough Daisy (and Touch)

3. Bad Buddy, now I don’t think this as show has very good rewatch value in the sense that the excitement about bad buddy was like “oh what’s gonna happen” or “how’s this going to go down” or “when’s this gonna be revealed” and because I already know all that re-watching it isn’t like as fun but if I had to watch one over and over again because I HAVE to it would be BB because I feel like it’s a really well balanced show, it has really high moments and low moments and lovely characters and character development and a happy ending, no plots or scenes feel unnecessary it’s just a really well rounded show that I could see being like very comforting if I was forced to watch it for the rest of my life

4. The entire plot of physical therapy, every single plot was ridiculous

7. The obvious one duh, the ending of HIStory3: MODC, who would pick a different one? truly like is there another one people would choose, I don’t think I have watched any other bl that I’ve ever wanted to change the ending besides MODC

Man the more I think about it the more I feel that Ling from my alll time fave fullmetal alchemist has Hypoglycemia. Like, in the series he is seen to pass out if he doesn’t eat food very often, and while at first it almost seems as if hes doing it to get free food, we later see thats not quite the case when he nearly passes out with Ed in a serious situation (after they had been swallowed by gluttony) and he literally has to be carried by Ed to a spot where he wouldn’t drown and he didn’t quite regain his energy until after he had both eaten and RESTED.

yeah yeah yeah worldbuilding that was established a few scenes (at most) into episode one, but sometimes you just want a character to stay very visibly disabled rather than her paralysis being cured by a cute little glowy handwavium implant

i see a lot of people talk about edward being disabled in fma, but it's less often talked about how alphonse is also disabled. i think it's partially because alphonse doesn't experience physical pain like edward so for a majority of the series, he's not having any of those kind of symptoms, but he is still disabled. also because alphonse's experiences are unique. like you don't see ant walking, talking suits of armour in real life (unless they're piloted by a human being physically inside them) and in world, there are about 3 others like alphonse).

alphonse is dependent on edward's survival to function. after fighting scar for the first time, alphonse is literally in pieces. he can't walk or anything until edward is in a position to fix him. similarly his body is dependent on nutrients from edward's body. like there's the point towards the end where edward gets impaled and alphonse collapses. furthermore, these periods where alphonse collapses start to become debilitating towards the end of the series and massively alter his daily living.

also, alphonse constantly talks about how upsetting it is for him to not feel any physical sensations. yeah, he's not feeling physical pain, but he's also not feeling the warmth of a fire, the sun on his face, or the fluffiness of the cats he keeps petting. he talks a lot about not being able to eat or sleep, and how there's a lot of foods he wants to try.

there's another thing that highlighted by edward at one point. alphonse's body doesn't regenerate at all. the parts scar destroys are gone forever; edward stretches out the metal that alphonse has left to repair his body. and obviously human beings don't regrow limbs, but imagine if your skin didn't ever heal over a cut. how long would your body last?

also alphonse gets told several times that his body is great throughout the series, and he literally argues against it every time, because to him it is shit. like he is missing some of his senses just for some supposedly immortal body that isn't even immortal.

even once alphonse gets his own body back, the amount of physical therapy the boy has to go through. his body has essentially been doing nothing and only receiving what nutrients it can get from edward for years. by the end of the series, he's still using a cane as a walking aid. it's unknown whether he requires that cane for the years to come, but for at least a period of time he requires a mobility aid. I don't know enough to say what effect muscle decay from inactivity and severe malnourishment during a major portion of his teenage years would have long term.

Hi Friends. Quick update on my life. I'm very excited about having new music to share, but I just wanted to let you know that one of the reasons why I haven't been able to participate in the press and promotion leading up to the release of Javelin is bc I am in the hospital. Last month I woke up one morning and couldn't walk. My hands, arms and legs were numb and tingling and I had no strength, no feeling, no mobility. My brother drove me to the ER and after a series of tests—MRIs, EMGs, cat scans, X-rays, spinal taps (!), echo-cardiograms, etc.—the neurologists diagnosed me with an auto immune disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Luckily there's treatment for this — they administer immuno-hemoglobin infusions for five days and pray that the disease doesn't spread to the lungs, heart and brain. Very scary, but it worked. I spent about two weeks in Med/Surg, stuck in a bed, while my doctors did all the things to keep me alive and stabilize my condition. I owe them my life.

On September 8, I was transferred to acute rehab, where I am now undergoing intensive physical therapy/occupational therapy, strength building etc. to get my body back in shape and to learn to walk again. It's a slow process, but they say I will "recover," it just takes a lot of time, patience, and hard work. Most people who have GBS learn to walk again on their own within a year, so I am hopeful. I'm only in my second week of rehab but it is going really well and I am working really hard to get back on my feet. I'm committed to getting better, I'm in good spirits, and I'm surrounded by a really great team. I want to be well!

I'll keep you posted as I progress. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. And a huge shout out to all the incredible caretakers of the world working night and day to help us heal. They are living saints.
