———Very Short Character Introductions——— (56 campers in all, aged 14-18)

Haku Yowane- A sweet, lonely, sensitive girl with a lot of heart. Age 17.

Neru Akita- A courageous tomboy who is misunderstood. Age 17.

Miku Hatsune- A bubbly, cheerful, outgoing girl with a lot of friends. Age 15.

Luka Megurine- An artistic girl who has a bit of anxiety. Good friends with Meiko. Age 18.

Teto Kasane- A bubbly, cheerful girl with an unexpected temper and badass side. Age 15.

Megumi “Gumi”- A bit shy, but underneath, she is very brave and resourceful. Age 16.

Meiko Sakine- The Mom Friend. Confident and likes to help people. Age 18.

Momo Momone- The nicest girl, to the point of being a pushover… Age 15.

Rin Kagamine- Unhinged gremlin sibling 1. Loves causing mayhem. Age 14.

Miku “Zatsune”- A wannabe goth. Basically, she’s in training. Thinks she’s edgy. Age 15.

Uta “Defoko” Utane- A sarcastic, moody teenage girl. But she does have a sweet side. Age 15.

Dell Honne- Haku’s grumpy, angsty half brother she hasn’t seen in years. Age 18.

Yuuma- The popular boy. Eleanor likes him. Can be materialistic. Age 18.

Dandy “704”- A very arrogant and vain guy. Quite selfish and loves to show off. Age 18.

“Lady” Parsec- A commanding bully who demands and orders people around. Age 17.

Spencer- Parsec’s “servant” who is actually just as diabolical as she is. Age 17.

Yuu- A cheerful guy who likes parties and fun. Age 16.

Wil- A somewhat quiet, mysterious guy who keeps to himself. Age 16.

Kyo- A wild guy who is impulsive and kind of dumb. Age 16.

Daina- Basically, she’s a furry. Her fursona is a fox. Age 17.

Dex- Basically, he’s a furry. His fursona is a wolf. Age 17.

Ruby- A girl who likes memes and is basically just vibing through life. Age 16.

Yukari Yuzuki- A modest girl who has a crush on Ruby. Easily impressed. Age 16.

Shian- An innocent girl who is also quick-tempered and pouts easily. Age 14.

Muxin- A kind, knowledgeable boy. He loves history and astronomy. Age 14.

Cangqiong- A very classy and demure lady with wisdom beyond her years. Age 18.

IA- A bit mysterious and seems cold and expressionless. Age 16.

Piko Utatane- Shy, quiet, and cold. Gets along with Muxin due to similar interests. Age 15.

Genbu- Overly-enthusiastic and brash. A bit of a loudmouth. Age 18.

Chiyu- Bold, brash, and brave. Kind-hearted and strong. Age 17.

Haiyi- Talks a lot. Usually has something up her sleeve. A prank perhaps? Age 16.

Leeds Kasumiga- A timid girl with a mysterious heart illness that inhibits her. Age 14.

Mizki- A real goth, unlike Zatsune, who is a goth-in-training. Age 17.

Tei Sukone- A dastardly, manipulative villain who fools people, then bites. Age 16.

Cider- A smug, self-absorbed inventor of elaborate but stupid inventions. Age 17.

Bruno- An agreeable, outgoing guy who likes spreading good vibes. Age 18.

Clara- Bruno’s girlfriend. A little bit timid, but always kind and optimistic. Age 17.

Aku Yamine- Quiet and a bit melancholic. She’s… a different type of goth. Emo? Age 14.

Lily- A tough high-school delinquent who stands up for the weak. Age 17.

Amy- Cheerful, optimistic, yet quite chill. Doubts herself often however. Age 16.

Chris- He might be a big guy, but he is quite shy and very gentle. Age 18.

Kaori- She seems confident and bright on the outside, but hides sadness? Age 17.

Ken- He’s talkative, smart, kind of a dork, but very focused and brave. Age 17.

Iroha Nekomura- Innocent and sweet, but agile, with cat-like reflexes. Age 14.

SeeU- Energetic, hyperactive, makes bad puns, silly, makes bad puns… Age 16.

Kiyoteru Hiyama is the host of the game show. Big Al is in the role of Chef. Sweet Ann is in here too somewhere. Yuki, Oliver, and Ryuuto are three kids who watch TDI on TV and love to watch the drama go down.

———Episodes———

Episode 1-

Introduction to concept. Characters see the advertisement for the game show and contemplate going on it. The winner gets a million dollars!

Episode 2-

Introduction to characters via their audition videos. Kiyoteru chooses contestants.

Episode 3-

The audition videos are wrapped up… Kiyoteru’s decisions finalize. Then, the fateful day comes. Everyone is flown to the island… they realize it’s not a tropical island in the Pacific like they were shown. It’s in the wilderness of Nova Scotia.

Episode 4-

Everyone arrives at Total Drama Island and meets each other. Some get along, and many clash.

Notable big-drama-causers include Tei, Eleanor, Dandy, Parsec, Cider, Merli sometimes, and Zatsune sometimes.

Koto, Teto, Genbu, Ritsu, Haiyi, Daina, and Dex stick out for being especially wild.

But really, everyone’s unique personality contributes to the drama and pot of chemistry in their own way.

Another camper who sticks out is Gakupo Kamui, who enthusiastically boasts about his skills in martial arts and how ready he is to win Total Drama Island. He begins to get on the nerves of the other campers.

“I can out-run, out-kick, out-sing, out-wit, and even out-PISS anybody else here.” Gakupo says.

“Well, can you do us a favor and GET-out?” Meiko says.

Episode 5-

Campers have to jump off a one thousand-foot cliff into a shark-infested lake. Then they have to pull some crates back to camp, and the team from before with the most people who jumped get carts to help them. Then they have to build a hot tub from material found in the crates. The team with the best hot tub wins the challenge.

The campers who were too scared to jump off the cliff have to wear chicken costumes for the rest of the day.

Despite his incessant bragging previously, Gakupo is one of the few campers who does not jump off the cliff, because it is revealed he is scared of heights, sharks, AND deep water! He even pisses himself and dramatically faints when he gets close to the edge of the cliff... and then he faints off the cliff! However, his jump isn’t accounted for, because Gakupo was not conscious during his fall. Luka has to be the one to jump in after and rescue him! This causes Gakupo of The Dangerous Dolphins to be the first campter voted off.

“Well… I guess he was right about out-pissing everyone here.” Neru laughs.

The other campers too scared to jump are Taya, Dandy, Eleanor, Clara, Muxin, Chris, and Kaito.

Haku is at first too scared, but her best friend Neru encourages her to be brave. They jump together and yell funny things on the way down.

Even though Eleanor is scared, she ends up going over anyway after Chiyu pushes her off the cliff, being sick of Eleanor’s arrogance. However, it isn’t even accounted for, because Eleanor did not jump by her own will.

Clara is too frightened and doesn’t make the jump, which is surprising, because she was so enthusiastic before. However, her boyfriend Bruno had jumped without her…

Taya takes one look down the cliff and starts backing away, crying from fear. He feels ashamed that he’s so scared, but he cannot help it. He gets pats on the back from Clara.

Dandy is scared and makes an excuse as to why he can’t jump. He says he has an open wound from a fencing accident. In reality, Dandy does not fence.

Muxin is too scared, but asserts that he doesn’t have to jump off the cliff if he doesn’t want to, and that the challenge is ridiculous. He then comforts Taya, who is curled up sobbing, and tells him not to feel shame. Taya and Muxin become friends, but sadly are on different teams.

Chris is too scared and actually starts crying too. People don’t expect it.

Kaito is scared to jump, panics and makes a bit of a scene, and is then picked on and belittled by his brother Akaito for the rest of the day. Kaito then vows he will become braver from here on. Braver, and stronger!

Leeds actually does jump from the cliff, but the stress causes her heart to become weak and she has trouble walking for the rest of the day. Some of the members on her team rudely deem her a nuisance, but others tell her to take it easy and understand her.

Afterwards, Clara gets a bit sour at Bruno, who is her boyfriend, for jumping the cliff without noticing she was too scared.

Koto jumps the cliff and she actually has fun. But afterwards, she wears a chicken suit anyway, because she loves birds.

Episode 6-

The challenge is to stay awake the longest in the "Awake-A-Thon" after running twenty-kilometers and eating a huge meal that includes turkey, which is known for making people sleepy.

Dell of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for falling asleep first. He generally has a bad attitude and is apathetic. Haku feels heartbroken because Total Drama Island was the first time she had seen Dell since her parents’ divorce (by complete chance, even,) and he is not the warm person he used to be. Also, their time together was so short. But unexpectedly, Dell acts nice to Haku right before he leaves, calling her to his room when he’s packing to go off the island. They have a nice conversation. Before Haku says goodbye, Dell says “Listen, I’m just not cut out for this wacky game. So you better win. I KNOW you can do it.” Haku begins crying and hugs Dell. Just like when they were kids.

There will eventually be a list here of who falls asleep first to last, but that’s quite convoluted. So I will say Dell falls asleep first, and Ruko second. Campers were not allowed to drink coffee during the challenge, rendering our Long Sleeper without access to her “secret weapon.”

Koto stays up the longest, because she is a bird lover and loves birds too much to consume them. Therefore, she was the only one who didn’t eat any turkey with her meal, and didn’t become as sleepy as the others! Also simply because Koto is badass and feral.

Episode 7-

A best-of-five dodgeball game. Five people are randomly chosen on each team. This is repeated three times for a total of three rounds of dodgeball. The Dangerous Dolphins win 2 out of 3 games.

Zatsune of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for being scared of dodgeball. It was a fear ingrained into her from her elementary school days, when the “dodgeball kids would bully her.” Sadly, since Zatsune always acts so cocky, nobody feels much sympathy now.

Taya and Muxin want to spend time with each other. Being on different teams, they can’t, and are deemed traitors. But when Tei, on Taya’s team, suggests Taya could get valuable information about the other team via Muxin, Taya refuses to sabotage their friendship. This causes Tei to begin picking on Taya…

Episode 8-

A three-on-three talent show contest. Dex of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for no reason. He wasn’t even in the talent show!

Dandy wanted to get chosen by his team, the Dangerous Dolphins, to be in the talent show, claiming his “talent” was unmatched. However, he wasn’t chosen because he didn’t exactly have any real actual skills despite his claim!

Taya, Luka, and Gumi are eventually chosen by the Dangerous Dolphins for their talents in music. Luka will play piano, Taya will play the guitar, and Gumi will play the electric bass as they all sing a song cover. This causes Dandy to criticize their every note and call them amateur. Given Taya and Gumi’s low self-esteem, Dandy’s criticism gets to them before the final talent show.

As for the Killer Porpoises, Yuuma, Ritsu, and IA get chosen as the team’s musicians. They form more of an idol dance group, with a pre-recorded background track. (It will also be a cover.)

The Dangerous Dolphins actually win. If they were to have lost, Dandy would’ve probably been the one voted off for being a prick.

Episode 9-

Campers have to go to the forest, stay out there overnight, then race back to the campgrounds in the morning. Yukari of the Killer Porpoises gets voted off. See, it wasn’t really Yukari’s fault, but… she got attacked by a bear and is now too injured to stay for the game, so the voting off was mandatory, even though the Killer Porpoises otherwise won. Everyone becomes more-or-less traumatized at this, and feel very hurt for Yukari.

Episode 10-

Campers have to face their worst fear, specific to each camper.

It seems many of the campers had been traumatized by the bear incident…

Koto’s worst fear is the perfume department from Spongebob, because that scene scarred her as a little kid. So the host of the game show, Kiyoteru, magically opens a door to the perfume department at a real department store and Koto has to walk through it. Koto only makes it 5 steps in before she runs out, screaming. She does not pass her fear test!

Yuuma is scared of the Crab Rave because there are too many crabs. So he is taken to a part of the island overrun by crabs, and Kiyoteru turns on the Crab Rave song and they all start dancing. Yuuma dives into the water screaming. But the crabs chase him. He doesn’t pass his fear test.

Taya attempts to outwit Kiyoteru and pretends he is afraid of strawberry shortcake, which is actually his favorite food. But everyone remembers how scared he was in the first challenge at the cliff. So Taya’s specific challenge is to jump off the cliff this time…

Yuuma gets voted off because he was scared of crabs.

Episode 11- Row a canoe to Boney Island, portage across the island, start a bonfire, and canoe back to camp. Wil gets voted off.

Episode 12- Hunt the other team dressed as deers with paintball guns, or if one is a deer, avoid being hit by them. Piko gets voted off.

Episode 13- Create a three-course meal for Kiyoteru to judge. Three chefs are chosen from each team. Miku gets voted off because her recipes went overboard with sugar, spice, and “everything nice.” (And also a tiny plastic Barbie shoe, for some reason.)

Episode 14- Participate in a set of three-out-of-five trust exercises. Shian gets voted off because she is a tsundere and has trouble trusting people.

Episode 15- Make it through Big Al’s life-threatening and disgusting boot-camp challenges. IA gets voted off.

Episode 16- Participate in three extreme sport challenges. The challenges are "sofa skydiving", riding a moose while avoiding being tossed off it, and water-skiing on mud. Lapis gets voted off.

Episode 17- Eat a nine course meal of disgusting food made by Big Al. Drink shot glasses of blended cockroaches. Yuu gets voted off.

After this challenge, the teams are disbanded. It’s now every camper for themself.

Episode 49-

Get through several rounds of torture, lasting at least ten seconds in each one. Eleanor gets voted off because she can’t take torture.

Episode 50-

Receive a clue to find a key hidden somewhere in the island to open a treasure chest containing a prize. Ritsu found a dud chest and his prize was… getting voted off.

Episode 51-

Avoid getting sprayed by Big Al’s water gun in a game of hide and seek. Parsec gets voted off. Good riddance!

Episode 52-

Build a bike from scratch, and then race it.

Who rides who’s bike?

Anyway, Dandy gets voted off. Probably because he’s 7 foot 4 and huge. He probably broke all the bikes.

Episode 53-

Watch a horror movie and then avoid being captured by a "deranged killer". Gumi gets voted off because she was scared.

Episode 54-

Catch the specific animal assigned by Kiyoteru and bring it back to the campground unharmed.

Taya had to bring back a raccoon. He came back first.

Koto had to bring back a bear. She came back second. What a total beast! And I’m talking about KOTO!

Genbu had to bring back an eagle. He came back third.

Leeds had to bring back a frog. She came back fourth.

Kaito had to being back a squirrel. He came back fifth.

Haku had to bring back a moose. She came back sixth.

Tei gets sent off because she couldn’t bring back a mere chipmunk. The little chipmunk was trained in king-fu and ended up beating her up! Hooray!

Episode 55-

Compete in the following while handcuffed to one of the other campers: eat disgusting food with your hands behind your back while the person handcuffed to you feeds you, return a fragment of Teto’s cursed tiki idol (it is literally shaped like an “idol” figurine) to Boney Island, and assemble a totem pole with the wooden heads of the voted out campers in the order that they are eliminated. Taya gets voted off.

Episode 56-

Campers have to find Kiyoteru and Big Al after being washed away by a storm. Leeds gets voted off because her condition came to its worst. Her weak heart had finally failed on her and she suffered a heart attack. She was doing so good in the game despite her shortcomings, and will serve as an inspiration for many. Leeds will not die. She is in good hands. She will get top medical care.

Now, a twist is revealed to the audience.

Everyone who was voted off actually went to go to a beautiful island resort. The remaining campers still don’t know about this.

When Leeds finally gets consciousness back, she finds she is in a hospital bed… in paradise. At first, she thinks she is dead. The room then fills up with everyone else voted off, and she begins crying because she thinks she is in heaven.

“They really killed you?” Leeds cries, thinking everyone else is dead.

“No, Leeds!” Yukari says. “You’re alive! You made it… to Paradise Island!”

Episode 67-

An episode dedicated to the Island of Losers, which is actually a five-star island resort paradise. Yukari has fully recovered from her injuries.

Gakupo and all the others who were eliminated early finally get their time to shine! The losers will also be involved in the episodes to come, as they will be the audience.

Episode 58-

The campers have to find their way back to camp after being left in the wild with limited supplies. Unexpectedly, our total beast, Koto Fuuga, comes back last. Rumors have it, this is because she found a bird sanctuary and got totally distracted…

Episode 59-

Survive a series of dares, given by the eliminated campers until someone drops out. Haku is forced to do something horrible by Tei. Tei dares Haku to joke around and portray offensive stereotypes. On national TV. She just can’t do it… She drops out, but not before insulting Tei to her face for having an offensive sense of humor. But Kaito says Haku made the right choice. She sacrificed her chance to win a million dollars so that Tei didn’t have to force her to make a choice that could hurt people when they see it on TV. Kaito thinks Haku deserves an amazing consolation prize. Genbu respects Haku for this as well.

Episode 60-

Another episode dedicated to the Losers on Paradise Island. A bit of a breather before the final challenge.

Episode 61-

The two remaining campers have to climb a pole and retrieve a flag, walk across a board on top of shark-infested waters while carrying an eagle's egg, and run a race to cross the finish line. Everyone on Paradise Island has someone they are rooting for. Kaito is about to give up… but… There is ice cream at the finish line! Meiko sent it there because she knows ice cream is Kaito’s favorite food, and it would motivate him at the last moment! Kaito makes a mad dash to the finish line and wins Total Drama Island!!

Episode 62-

Kaito won! But there is a twist. In order to actually win the million dollars, he has to find the a case containing the $1,000,000 and bring it to the Dock of Shame before anyone else does! Now everyone has a chance again! This is a race between him and all the other campers! If any of the other campers being it to the Dock of Shame before Kaito, there will be a whole second season of Total Drama Island, and Kaito will have to win all over again before he gets his million dollars…

Those voted off actually get to go to a beautiful island resort. Reveal this plot twist once Leeds is out of the game. However, Kiyoteru had kept vaguely hinting about it the whole time, and Haku kept contemplating “Maybe they’re at a resort.” However, this isn’t actually confirmed until Leeds’ departure.

Episode 3-

New prose-

The advertisement and hype also found itself to the internet, where it found the attention of 15-year-old Uta Utane, hardcore girl gamer, amateur computer-music producer, and internet addict. She knew Japanese fluently and interacted with overseas game and music communities all the time. Internet circles affectionately nicknamed her “Defoko,” meaning “default girl,” due to her faithful devotion to mastering playing strategies with the default characters and skins in five of her favorite video games. Uta was in her natural habitat on the web. But offline, she was as shy and awkward as a wilting flower.

The reason Uta signed up for Total Drama Island was because she lost a bet with her pesky siblings—two older brothers and one younger sister. They were quite lively, unlike her. However… Uta found a bright side to the whole situation… Think of all the video games, software, and music tech one could buy with a million dollars!

It wasn’t long enough before Uta overheard her classmate Teto Kasane, talking to Momo Momone about a cool new game show she herself signed up for. Teto and Momo were best friends, but many people mistook them for a doting dating couple all the time. They were so affectionate always, even kissing each other on the cheek at times.

“Momo, have you heard of Total Drama Island?” Teto asked.

Uta couldn’t help but eavesdrop from her desk. And Uta was very, very good at eavesdropping in plain sight. She was so quiet. People always thought she just wasn’t listening…

“OMG!” Momo replied. “Teto, I’M going on Total Drama Island!” Momo said. “My brother Momotaro told me I needed to do more things in life. So he signed me up. I was angry at first, until I saw what the prize was for winning—“

“NO WAY!” Teto’s yell suddenly interrupted. “Momo! I’m going on Total Drama Island too!”

“OH MY GOSH!”

The two girls hugged.

“EEEEE!” They both squealed in bliss.

Uta, interest piqued, was now awkwardly walking up to the scene. She wanted to perhaps talk to Momo and Teto… but definitely didn’t know what to day.

“I… um, wouldn’t get too happy.” She tripped on the words quietly, stammering somewhat. “In Total Drama Island, you two might have to be pit against each other…”

“Aaaaand now here’s Defoko, here to dampen our spirits again.” Teto said.

“…My name is Uta.” The quiet girl said. Once again, she came off as harsh…

Indeed, the nickname Defoko had even spread to her classmates at school. They all thought it was a fitting name for her, given how much of a plain, blunt, “default” girl she was.

“Well then, Uta. Why do you have to be so mean to us?” Momo asked.

“I’m not being mean.” Uta answered, with more conviction this time. “I’m just… being real. I’m looking forward to winning Total Drama Island as well, and even brushed up on insider knowledge from obscure web sources. Perhaps you two shouldn’t get your hopes up too high…”

Momo and Teto looked at each other for a few seconds.

“Wait.” Teto suddenly said. “You’re going on Total Drama Island too, Defoko?”

Uta nodded.

“…I see.” Momo said.

“Hm. No offense…” Teto said. “But you’ll be lost without any teamwork. And you don’t really have any friends… do you?”

“There can only be one winner of Total Drama Island.” Uta said nonchalantly. “And I work alone.”

Uta dramatically flipped her hair and tucked part of it behind her ear. Then as mysteriously and nonchalantly as ever, she walked away… into the deep, hazy distance… of the algebra classroom at 7:00 AM.

“She has such a cold attitude...” Momo commented.

But deep down inside, Uta didn’t mean to come off as so snide.

Rumors had it, there were even flyers, strategically hung up in random places where young people tended to hang out. Some of the contestants who were on the show could even tell you they found out about the show in this way. Namely Yuuma, who found out at his mall’s bowling alley. Yuuma was a popular guy in his school who hung out with his friends often. The day he saw the flyer, he joked with his friends Shuu and Souta that it sounded like a dumb scam. However, the advertisement wouldn’t leave his mind… and down the rabbit hole he went, until he found the guts to enter the contest.

“Quick way to perhaps make a million.” He thought. “Maybe make some friends. Play friendly competition games.”

Nothing would’ve prepared Yuuma for what would be in store for him.

Ads were even printed in teen magazines. In the latest issue of the gaudy LUXE VIBE magazine, geared towards teenage girls and young female adults who either dreamed of, or had the bucks to buy the showcased expensive clothes and cosmetics. Eleanor Forte, who lived a life of luxury, came across the ad, and her first thought was…

“Barbaric!” She said out loud, while lounging on her expensive chair by the outside jacuzzi by her expensive private pool with massage jets (and poolside maid service.) “The absolutely senseless things that those common plebs would do for money…”

“Oh, Ellie, dear!” Eleanor heard her mother call her.

“WHAT.” She answered.

“I signed you up for Total Drama Island, dear. Wouldn’t you love to have a chance to come out of your shell, meet some people your age and play some wholesome games without being on that phone all day?”

“…WHAAAAAT!?”

Eleanor yowled so loud that she scared her purebred cat who was taking a nap indoors.

(Koto’s audition video is her reciting bird species and traits from memory. She’s like an encyclopedia. And then she does some badass feral unhinged bird calls. Perfectly, I may add.)

(Eleanor flaunts her richness and privilege…)

(Ruko and Ritsu are rocking out to niki songs and Ritsu is singing them very loudly (and nails it.) Ritsu then says he is a boy (which is true) and that his boobs are missiles and he weighs 10 tons and he is actually 6 years old because he was created in a lab in North Korea (which is not true.) An exhausted Ruko says “that’s enough” and turns the camera off.)

(Gumi is painting a beautiful painting of a tiger and all of a sudden, the painting comes to life… because she has boss editing skills. She also does some gymnastics with the painting. Because Gumi is a boss. But she is unexpectedly very shy.)

(Meiko is just showing off her muscles and being a very gay lesbian.)

(Taya is shy but he gets into playing his violin. He starts singing (he’s good) and then attempts to freestyle rap (he’s bad). He makes a really stupid rhyme with his name. “…Because I’m Taya, I’m not a papaya!” But then he randomly makes another rhyme and it’s kinda lit. “Catch me jammin’ like jambalaya.”

vocaloid -> singing synthesizer by yamaha. colloquial term, at least in the west, for other singing synths as well, like utau (free vocaloid, usually gives characters attached to voices more personality), cevio, synthv, etc

games? -> they exist! most are attached to crypton, who made the world famous virtual idol miku. usually the first one people know and the most recognizable. my grandma could recognize her (my mom can recognize len really easily cuz he’s my fave) (see my profile pic, at least at the time of posting this)

the games are project diva, mirai, and sekai (this is the only mobile one and i am ADDICTED). there’s also a crappy gumi game and a decent ia game

Who are you most nervous about introducing potential significant others to? Ooooh moving forward, probably Angela hahahaha I have no idea how I’d break it to her if ever I do start seeing somebody again. She’s well aware of all the shit that I let slide so she might get intense with the scrutineering.

What is the most exciting thing about your life right now? Just the fact that I feel on top of the world these days. My days of being depressed and picking at my insecurities seem to be far behind me and the change has looked to be apparent coming from friends who’ve told me I seem happier, louder these days.

What was the most important non-academic thing you learned in high school? To not be scared to fight harder for the things you believe in or what make up your identity, coming from having to hide a same-sex relationship during that period. That feeling of being constricted and having to hide to stay on some conservative seniors’ good graces really pissed me off so high school was really crucial in letting me discover just how much I’d be willing to fight and test the waters to be able to live as me.

Have you ever had a job that deeply affected your personal life? How so and do you still work there? Hmm no, not really. If anything my job is one of the things that helped make me a lot livelier and happier.

Do you have a “one who got away”? It felt that way at the start when my view was still skewed, but it didn’t take long until I realized she was not a loss at all.

If you were in a superhero movie, would you be the hero or the villain? Hero.

If you found a mouse in your house, would you be frightened? Mice or rats are the literal worst fucking thing I could see in my house. I definitely see myself making a big deal out of it lmao, especially rats.

Have you ever tried to perform magic tricks? Nobody ever taught me, so no.

Can you do more with a yo-yo than just "go up and down"? Nah, which kinda makes me feel ashamed because considering it was a Filipino who invented the modern yo-yo, I feel like it should be my responsibility to know a few tricks LOL.

What is one form of technology that you wouldn't be able to live without? Instant messenger.

Did you get an allowance, growing up? Why or why not? Starting high school. Before that I was living in our family’s duplex, so my grandma could make packed meals for all of us – not to mention the fact that my parents were also still on their way to establishing themselves at their respective workplaces so we weren’t all that well-off yet.

When we moved into our own place, we started with my mom making our meals but eventually it just proved to be time-consuming and a lot of work considering she also had a job to go to. With that and the fact that both my parents at that point already got a couple of promotions, we switched to allowance.

Would you rather go to a water park or an amusement park? Why? Amusement parks though I would only probably head to the safer rides and food stalls with all the deep-fried offerings haha. I cannot handle more intense rides. On the other hand, water parks have always sounded nasty to me.

What is one instrument you wouldn't mind learning how to play? Piano.

What's the longest amount of time you've had to wait in line for something? The stupid LTO, because you can never count on government agencies to be efficient. Technically my whole time in there took a couple of stages, but all in all I spent eight hours there.

What is something that you would like to learn more about? Korean. I just graduated from my Basic Korean 1 class but I already have plans to enroll in the following course, since I seemed to do well and I want to keep the momentum going.

What is something that one of your family member collects? Mom has a large collection of chef-themed figurines and other sorts of trinkets like a chef timer, shot glasses, etc - but mostly the figurines - that she has displayed in a glass case. I should keep that in mind for when I start Christmas shopping, actually...she hasn’t updated that collection in a long time. Thanks for the idea!

Have you ever moved to a new school before? If so, how did it feel? No, not in the middle of the same period since I went to the same school from kinder to high school for 14 years. I only “moved” when I started college. Like I’ve said in previous surveys, it felt freeing to finally not under be the hands of an environment ran by...well, Catholics. It was a culture shock to see rallies everywhere, to find out I could wear short shorts or even go to school naked if I wanted to, and to see boys in my class (I went to an all-girls), but it was all the good kind of shock.

Have you ever legitimately forgotten to do homework? Always, because I never wrote them down.

Do you enjoy autumn leaves or spring flowers more? Why? I experience neither season.

Depending on where you live, why might a day of school get canceled? Typhoon.

If you could meet any fictional character from a book, who would it be? Melanie Hamilton from Gone with the World.

What are some common places that people tour when they come to your city? I rarely see foreigners here since my area isn’t particularly known for tourism; most go to the island provinces like Cebu, Aklan, Palawan, etc. If I had to recommend spots here, I’d tell them to go for Pinto and maybe the rooftop bars that offer a view of Manila’s skyline.

What's one food that you did not enjoy as a child, but do as an adult? Chicken curry, which I used to dread.

Would you rather have a mermaid tail, a fairy's wings or a unicorn's horn? I guess the wings just because I feel like it’s the only practical one.

What is an animal that you'd like to have as a pet but it's not allowed? I don’t think that way about animals I can’t keep as pets anyway.

What are some things that you do to make the world a better place? I always clean up at restaurants (my mom doesn’t understand why I do it because “the servers are here for a reason, Robyn”) but I always see the relief on their faces when they see I’ve stacked up the plates and cups so I don’t see a reason to stop doing it. I keep the door open for people who happen to enter/exit a building the same time as me, share dog adoption posts, don’t make a fuss about or towards a shop staff who messes up...things like that. I hope it’s able to help, even if just in a small way.

Has the last person you had sex with ever had sex with someone besides you? I don’t know. I wouldn’t be surprised if she has already.

What’s your favorite store at your mall? We have several malls within the vicinity but I like frequenting NCAT.

Have you ever done a workout DVD? No but my mom is fond of those.

What song are you currently obsessed with? My Universe is soooooo good. It’s Coldplay’s classic sound but they somehow managed to perfectly blend in BTS’ style as well, so I love how it turned out.

What happens if you don’t take them? Who was the last person you dreamt about? My dad.

Do you prefer your tea sweetened or unsweetened? Sweetened, though I don’t usually actively look for iced tea. I’d have it if it was served, but I don’t typically order it for myself.

How often do you honk your horn? As long as I am annoyed, which gives my mom a mini heart attack every time because she insists I just let people have their way to avoid getting into fights. Sometimes when she’s driving and someone’s being stupid on the road I lurch forward to do the honking for her and it pisses her off soooooooooo much but it also gets the job done so *shrug*

Do you have any children? If so, names and ages? I don’t.

Have your parents ever witnessed you doing something inappropriate? What? TMI but I almost got caught doing the m-word once but my reflexes were at lightning speed that day so when my door opened I was able to fix myself up and appear as though nothing was happening lol. My mom also saw a hickey on me once but I was able to veer the conversation away when she started inquiring.

Did you get babysat a lot as a kid? No, I did the babysitting.

If you were the principal of a school, what would you do differently? Actually deal with teachers who mistreat or make issues towards their students. I had several teachers I know didn’t like me but I could never do anything about it because there was no way in hell the school was going to take my side.

Are you doing anything fun tomorrow? Continued from yesterday. If I took this question yesterday to refer to today I would’ve answered yes because we actually have a really fun PR stunt scheduled for execution today, wherein we get to sponsor someone’s whole wedding from food to flowers to the host and fillm crew :D :D But tomorrow is just Monday so the real answer to this is no.

What is something you'd like to receive as a housewarming gift? I dunno the usual housewarming gifts, but I would appreciate anything practical, or anything that you’ll need at the least expected times, like batteries or even like Sticky Tack.

How old were you when you first experienced the effects of puberty? Oooh I was an early bird – I was 9 when I could first tell my first period was on its way; it came a month after I turned 10.

What is your least favorite holiday, and why? I don’t dislike any holiday because they all mean a day off work lol.

What were some outdoor games you played as a child? We usually played piko (hopscotch), our local version of freeze tag that we dubbed “Ice ice water” for whatever reason, and a garter game that we call 10-20. Dodgeball was a favorite during recess and lunch, too.

Did you accompany your parents on "Take Your Child to Work" Day? That’s not observed here, but my mom did use to take me and my siblings to her first workplace. Are cemeteries peaceful to you, or do they freak you out? They’re actually more interesting to me than anything else. I like learning about the different lives of many different people, even if I only technically know them by their birthday and date of death. Sometimes the inscriptions would be more detailed and tell more about their life, sometimes I’d come across babies who only lived a few days...and it’s just interesting to have those glimpses into life.

Which ancient civilization would you be interested in learning more about? Filipino, because Western colonization destroyed proof of most of it.

Do you have better long-term memory or short-term memory? Long.

What was the last situation that made you cry? Describe. I cried this morning. Nothing bad or heavy, I just found myself thinking again about my mental state last year.

Which forest animal would you be most afraid to encounter? Anything that wouldn’t hesitate to tear my limbs apart.

Do you believe in anything supernatural? (ie: spirits, etc) No.

Has anyone close to you ever gone to war? No. The closest link I have to the military, other than my dead great-grandfather, is Angela’s uncle who’s like a general or like a colonel or something, idk titles.

Have you ever experienced altitude sickness? Yeah, occasionally. Pressure in the ear is a bigger nuisance to me, though.

Is there anything, any event, you wish you could remember more clearly? The last time I saw my grandfather. My only clear memory of him that day was stepping out of the house to leave (my mom and I were visiting) and him sending me off with the message to always be kind and good. If I had known I would never see him again, I never would’ve left.

Have you ever rubbed anyone’s feet? Hmm no, not that I can recall.

If you had to get advice from someone of the opposite sex, who would you go to? I’d go to Hans for certain advice, but not for every single situation. He’s the only person that comes to mind.

What was the last new food/drink that you tried? So last Wednesday I finally got to try this Instagram-based doughnut shop that I’ve been eyeing since August and it turned out to be even MUCH BETTER THAN EXPECTEDDDDDD. Like yeah their photos were always mouthwatering but I didn’t expect it to taste as good as it looks, since most pretty food I’ve encountered usually end up just tasting meh. Anywho, I got two orders of their sampler box and they served me their specialty bacon doughnut, signature brown butter, and a bunch of their chocolate and peanut butter variants and I loved every single fucking thing.

Have you had a good day today or was yesterday better? Oh it’s hard to tell, it’s only 9:05 AM. Both days might be uneventful, though.

Have you ever played Sudoku? I don’t actually get how to play it hahaha. I feel like I’m too stupid for sudoku.

Do you ever take surveys for money? I tried it last year when applying for jobs was still a bitch for me, but the thing is most of those surveys look for employed participants so there was rarely ever a survey that fit me anyway.

Piko’s Spring Tour “Pathfinder” report

There are just so many things I want to write down for this live but I realized I would not be able to put everything into one post and I have also forgot some parts of it so please bear with my scattered memories.

I went to almost all the lives in this tour except for the one in Sendai. So it includes Nagoya, Osaka, Yokohama, Fukuoka and Tokyo. It is an amazing feeling following an artist on tour, like waking up in a different city everyday, meeting the fans you don’t usually meet but still being able to say “See you tmr”. For two weeks I was filled with Piko feels and I couldn’t really remember doing anything else.

For most of the venues, there were like 150-200 people each. The final was in a bigger venue so there were more than that. There are girls, guys, couples, families, Japanese, foreigners, all kinds of people you can think of. And everyone is super nice and friendly. I still feel super awkward with my Japanese but people’s warmness there just calmed me a lot.

For the tour goods, there are T-shirts, mirrors, towels, mobile charger, tote bag and stuff from previous lives. If you buy one album, you will get a ticket to high touch with Piko at the end of the live. Plus there are chekis and if u are lucky enough you can get one with Piko’s sign.

My favorite thing from the goods this time must be the totebag. Its cheap and convenient since you can use it both as a handbag and a shoulder bag. The mobile battery is a new thing, which is a bit expensive imo but it works pretty well and has a super cute design so everything is forgiven xD I also bought 2 more CDs to get a high touch with him. I will write about it in more details at the later part.

Piko wears a different outfit every live. For the one in Nagoya, he wears the black outfit as in Black Swan cover, then in Osaka it was the white one as in Realizing. He is back to the black one in Yokohama and in Fukuoka is another white shirt with black gilet. He went with the Black Swan outfit for MOST of the final live lol. If you read my last posts, you have already known what else he was wearing xD

As for the setlist. The setlist is the same for all the small lives. Only the final is different so I’m gonna list out all the songs that he has sung in all the lives, not in the exact order.

- Realizing - This is the opening song for all lives.

- Loki - He sang this in all the small lives but not in the final.

- Ghost Rule

- HERO

- Tengaku - He sang this in the final only

- Re:Act

- Rolling Merry Go Round - this is also in the final only. I was so surprised when he sang it ;; this is also my first time listening to the song live ;;

- Dappo Rock

- Kachoufuei - This is one of my favourite songs in the new album

- Sakurane - This is also final exclusive! In one part he messed up the lyrics and he was super embarrassed so he laughed and asked the audiences to sing for him lol

- Black Swan - the most beautiful song live from the new album. Tbh I didn’t like the recording that much cuz the instruments are a bit too loud for me. But in the live it sounds much better and Piko’s voice just resonates around the live house and it is absolutely beautiful.

- Kokoronashi Acoustic - This is in the final only. He sang this song many times before but this time is totally different. He sang the first verse with no instruments at all and the acoustic guitar sound only came in in the second verse.

- Kasa - He sang it with a backup vocal of himself since it is a self-duet and many parts are overlapped. He sang the guy’s part with female backup in the first verse and then switched to the girl’s part with male backup for the second verse. In some lives, the fans even sang along with the backup parts which was really cute xDDD

After this part there is usually a small MC parts where Piko can talk and take a short rest before entering a non-stop session of about 4-5 rockish songs xD

- Murabito A - I love the song and the message in it. Whenever he gets to the “kamisama” I really just reached my hands towards him as if he is my God lol

- Futaiten Path Finder

- Lost One no Goukoku - I cant believe Piko covered it just recently! He sounds absolutely amazing in it. He didnt try to sing the original key (though I think he totally can). He chose a lower tone which showed off his beautiful, manly middle range and I love it so much. In the entry part of the song, he asked everyone to raise hand and shout out at the end of each drum session. He also asked the girls and the guys to do it separately. Even though there were only a few guys, they were really energetic, even when Piko asked them to say Yeah but in a girly cutesy voice. (They did it anyway lol!)

- Haikei Doppelganger - Of course this cannot be missed! This is like the most heated song in the live. Everyone was just headbanging like crazy. He just sounds absolutely powerful and precise for such a hard song that I lost my mind every time I heard it.

- Make Our Days - this is like a sequel to Make My Days. He mentioned that this is a song where he wants everyone to become one by doing the same moves. It is pretty similar to Make My Days and I dont know how to explain it in writing lol. So lets wait until some videos of it actually come out xDD He also asked all the band members to do that with different style every time and it was so funny (I will write more about it but probably in a separate post)

- Piscium - Last song before the encore. He spoke about the meaning of it, about how he started his career as a net artist, how it was in the beginning where they didnt really know what to do but try different things and see how it works. And it has been a long way with both joys and sadness and now he realizes that its not him walking alone, and that everything he does has the people who support him being a part of it. Thats why its not about him anymore but about all of us. Thats why Make My Day becomes Make Our Days, and Piscium lyrics also say “You made me. I made you”.

It was a beautiful moment…

Before the funny part kicked in xDDD

If you follow Piko, you might have already known that he has a corner called Pikone jinsei soudan in his namahousou, in which he puts on an okama personality and gives people advices on their problems xDD The live this time also has a session like that.

- Tokyo Shinobizaki

The first song of the encore is Tokyo Shinobizaki, which is an ending he sang for a short anime recently. It is a slow, jazzy and mature song, the type you may find in some old bars I guess. In the small lives, Piko would wear his live tour T-shirt, walk out and sing it with a stand mic. And he kept swaying and sliding his hands up and down the stand mic xD He has such lovely hands that my eyes kept fixating on them through out the song @@ In the final, when the music started playing, everyone was waiting for Piko to come out as usual, but it was just a band playing a super long intro. The live house for the final has a smaller stage on the right side that looks like a small balcony. And when the intro finally ended, Piko walked out from there, wearing a long red dress (the same one he wore in luz’s event not too long ago). He looked so pretty in that dress that everyone could have mistaken him as a girl without knowing him before >w<.

After he sang Tokyo shinobizaki, the jinsei soudan session started. Every live he would pick 2 letters from the fans and read it out loud (in okama voice) and then gave advices to them. All the band members also helped him out (and they also spoke in funny voices lol). There are many interesting questions but I think I will write about them in a separate post. I will just mention a few moments here. In the Osaka live, one fan was asking about how to deal with a rebellious son. And Piko was like “hmm I dont know. Should I ask my own parents??” and then he looked to the back of the stage, raised his hand and shouted out “Mama~~”. Turned out his mom was also there and all the lights of the stage started pointing to her xDD she then said that she actually didnt have to deal with Piko’s rebellious phase cuz he was a super good kid and didnt have that phase at all xDD In the final, Piko randomly picked a guy from the audience and asked him if he has any questions. The guy didnt have any, but he said that he brought his daughter to the live to see Piko. And Piko, still wearing that dress, rephrases his words like “Oh, so papa likes me, and papa wants his daughter to like me too so he brought her here?” He then asked to see the daughter. We all expected like a little grown up girl but turned out she was a super tiny cute little girl xDDD and Piko was like “ok lets get married” lol

- Yoshiwara Lament: Normally Pikone only sang Tokyo Shinobizaki but in the final she sang this one too xDD

After the Pikone part, Piko got into the backstage and changed again.

When he was inside the big screen started playing and they played a part of Black Swan MV which is coming soon.

And they also announced on the screen a two-man live with Pokota on November 4th this year!

2nd encore:

- Thanatos

- Hypnos: As some of you might know, Thanatos is the god of death in Greek mythology. Hypnos is his twin brother. Hypnos is a god of sleep. Piko said that the tour is like a dream. And when this tour end, everyone will wake up from their dream, go back to their everyday life. Thanatos is his first CD ever released, but Hypnos is the future. He will keep moving forward and come back, being a stronger and newer Piko. He asked for a title call and wrapped up the live with that song.

After the live came the high touch. I did it 3 times. One time was in the first live in Nagoya. I didnt buy the CDs but one friend of mine was kind enough go give me one of her tickets. The high touch is super short. You touch hand with him and say one sentence or two and thats it. I kept thinking what to say in Nagoya and ended up telling him “I LOVE YOU” in English lol. Second time was in Fukuoka. I did’t plan to buy a CD that day but that was 3rd day of the 3-day-in-a-row lives that Piko performed in (Tour in Yokohama, Chan-gero Sonic, tour in Fukuoka). He sounded a little bit tired at the beginning in Fukuoka but he tried his best and still sounded wonderful till the end of the live. So I bought a CD to high touch and tell him how well he has done. I also asked him not to try too hard. And all the time he just gently smiled back and said Thank you. The fragrance left from his hands still linger on mine even after I left ;;

Another interesting event did happen to me and my friends in the final. After the live I went for dinner with a few Pikoots and on our way to the station, we were supposed to pass by the livehouse again. A taxi was running from behind us so we decided to stop and walked to the side to let it pass. Then that taxi stopped in front of the livehouse and turned out it was Piko’s taxi. So we saw him getting in the taxi so we waved at him and said good job. Of course we all freaked out after that, like not believing what just happened. It was a miracle, really xD

So that’s the end of my tour dream. I tried to keep this report short but you can see how long it has become. I feel like its still not half enough to write down everything I want to write but I hope it helps you understand how wonderful a live it was. There were a lot of cameramen during the final so I am secretly hoping there will be a DVD!

I like to mess around with Robin or just listen to music by myself while daydreaming. I also know Kostya’s schedule by heart, so I can go sparring with him.

Hell, where do I begin? I hate Kleio, Euclid and Markos are cool, Georgia and Eleni are cool if Kleio isn’t around, and Simon is the best little brother I could ever wish for.

I don’t know, put it in a bank or something?

Simon. He’s awesome.

When Markos left. There was a huge fight, there was shouting, I think even violence between him and father. I took Simon and we hid in the closet until it calmed down. I didn’t even get to say goodbye to Markos.

Joining Beacon! I always wanted to be a huntsman, and I was really happy when I met Robin, Ismene, and Leiah!

LITERALLY TORTURE.

Something bad happening that I could’ve prevented, but didn’t. The guilt would probably kill me.

I hate Kleio, so that’s that.

It’s good when it’s there, but I don’t think it should be the sole driving force behind anything.

I’d compare my height to whatever or whoever is also in the picture with me, because sometimes I don’t feel that tall.

My team would probably describe me as reliable.

My team would probably say I don’t notice things. Actually, they use every chance they get to remind me of this.

My... strength, I guess? I’m big, I can hit hard, and I can walk away from a lot of things someone tiny like Ismene or Leiah wouldn’t.

Today might be a good day. Sure, it may be a bad one too, but why would I look forward to that?

Trying not to give up on school...

“Just you wait, you’re gonna outgrow most of your siblings by the time you’re my age.”

Whatever happens, stay with my team. Even when we graduate, I hope we stay a team.

Robin Heath:

Mess around with Alexander, or teach Ismene how to track like a hunter.

My parents are very proud I go to Beacon to become our village’s huntsman, and I love their support and the fact they don’t put too much pressure on me.

Pay back my village what they scrounged together to send me to Beacon and then some.

Ismene. She’s... too innocent to be a huntress and I want her to keep that at least until she graduates.

Ismene’s nightmare. I saw here there, writhing in bed, trapped in hell, and I couldn’t do anything about it.

The day I left for Beacon. Almost every villager went with me to the train station to send me off. I felt everyone0s trust in me and that trust could get me through Beacon alone.

I only have general education from before, and John, our neighbor, taught me how to hunt. I now have to combine these with quite a bit of studying to make this whole thing work.

Failing Beacon. As much as the villagers’ faces filled me with hope as the train was leaving, it also gave me the dread of what might happen if I fail. The old huntsman may have to retire before someone else can graduate instead of me.

It’s toxic. It gives you strength, yes, but it also clouds your judgement. Sooner or later, it may make you hurt someone you didn’t mean to.

It definitelly exists. It’s liking someone so much just thinking of them gives you energy to go on for life.

There’s always a how and there’s always a why.

The slightly red hair. It’s common to a lot of people in our village and it always reminds me of my roots.

Analytical and decisive.

Leiah: “A sarcastic dork!” ...Right.

Sometimes I’m afraid I don’t show my emotions enough, which could lead to misunderstandings.

The ability to keep a clear head.

There’s always work to be done, so I might as well get to it.

Honestly, studying. I’m constantly anxious that I will fail the next exam.

Listen to pops. He has a lot of smart things to say if you’re willing to listen.

Graduate and go back home to relieve our old huntsman of his position.

Ismene Kokinos:

Taking walks with Robin and playing with Piko and Miko, my mice.

Tense. My mom and dad try really hard to not blame me for what happened to grandpa, but the pressure from the rest of the family gets to them.

I would donate it to an animal shelter or a sharity!

Robin. He’s just so... amazing!

Granda dying and grandma blaming me for it.

Meeting everyone during Initiation! It was super fun, and also a little scary.

My parents homeschooled me instead of sending me to Battle School, seeing as we run a dojo and everything. I love studying at Beacon a lot more, though!

That I’ll freeze during a battle and someone will get hurt again, or worse - killed. Robin is trying to help me get over this and honestly, he’s helping just by being there for me.

It destroys everything in its path and even if it goes away, it will never really leave.

It is real and it is the best thing in the entire universe.

Whatever happens, real friends never leave you.

How short I am. I stopped growing pretty quickly, so I’m kind of ashamed of my child-like height.

A small doll.

Robin: “A cute, Grimm-ass whooping doll, you mean.” ...Yeah. :)

I can be too emotional and childish at times.

I try to be optimistic in most cases.

I have to feed the mice, otherwise Miko might eat Piko.

Trying to overcome my fear of Grim. If I’m not activelly doing something about it, I at least think or talk to Robin about it.

It wasn’t your fault grandpa died, and don’t let what grandma says get to you.

Stay friends with the team. Even if we go our separate ways after graduation, I wanna say in touch with them at least.

Leiah Prima:

By myself. Reading, thinking, training.

I never knew my parents.

Keep it physically. I don’t trust banks. Besides, I can sit on top of it like a dragon.

The team.

I’m not ready to talk about it yet.

Initiation. I met an awesome set of people, and I got to battle a King Taijitu.

All shall pass. The sooner, the better.

Losing my friends, but not to death.

It can be a good power source as long as you don’t lose control.

Hate exists, so logically, love exists as well, right?

Take care of yourself first, because without taking care of yourself, you can’t take care of others.

That bandana. Nobody wears a bandana or scarf on their face. But I don’t want to get rid of it, I just can’t.

Small, quick, adaptive.

Sometimes rude? Definitelly quick to anger.

I’m not always that good at teamwork.

I can take care of myself in any given situation.

(smirks) School.

(laughs) Also School.

It’s going to be okay.

Finally graduate Beacon and become a full, independant huntress.

Guest: I agree the original anime was lacking in the Sonic and Tails brotherly department, and with a reimagining, I would “step it up”, so to speak, and place a substantial emphasis on their brotherly relationship, especially under the backdrop of an entirely new world. Chapter 11: Dreams Come True

“Sonic…Tails…anyone…please help us.” Cream let go of the rusted bars of her cage and covered her face with her hands, tears dripping through her fingers as her knees collapsed to the cold, metallic floor below.

“Chao, chao…” Cheese was crying as well, his stubby hands covering his eyes as tears soaked his red bowtie.

“That monster…” Tails walked toward the yellow television in the grass, dropping to one knee to get a better view of the imprisoned bunny and her pet chao through the flickering display. His eyes began to moisten.

…Am I to blame? If I hadn’t lost the emeralds, Eggman wouldn’t have kidnapped her.

“No…” The orange kitsune shook his head, trying to get these intrusive thoughts out of his subconscious before tilting his head toward the grass below, closing his eyes.

Eggman is to blame. Not me or anyone else.

Tails sighed to himself before turning his gaze to his friends. Amy was about to pounce.

“All right, you robot!” The pink hedgehog grabbed Bokkun by his yellow M-shaped belt buckle, raising him so he could meet her angry gaze. “What’s Eggman planning to do with Cream, huh?”

“Wait, wait, wait, I didn’t do anything! Promise!” The small robot began to sweat profusely as he threw his arms and legs around. “Help me! Get this crazy girl away from me!”

“What did you call me?” Flames grew in Amy’s pupils as she grabbed hold of either side of his waist and shook him back and forth.

“Aaaaaaah!” Bokkun’s head bobbled as he screamed for mercy.

“Amy…” Sonic placed an arm on the pink hedgehog’s shoulder. She stopped and looked at his gloved hand, his head gently shaking as if to tell her that no amount of torment she could inflict on the henchman would do any good for Cream and Cheese.

“Hmph…fine.” She dropped Bokkun before dusting her hands off. The messenger robot landed on the grass below, swirls appearing over his beady eyes as his dizzy head spun around.

“Ehem!”

The party’s eyes returned to the television which now displayed the slightly fuzzy image of Dr. Eggman straightening his jacket and inspecting his long orange mustache with a handheld mirror. Throwing the mirror to the side, the doctor cleared his throat once more and turned his face to the camcorder.

“Greetings, my favorite adversaries!” His evil smile grew as he turned to the side, allowing the party to see Cream and Cheese once more. “As I’m sure even you lot have figured out, your little bunny friend is now under my care.”

“Ooooo, that Eggman…” Amy pulled her Piko Piko hammer from her hammerspace, gripping its handle with both hands as she slowly walked to the television.

“Wait!” Tails obstructed her path, stretching his arms in either direction. “Let’s hear what he has to say first.” The young kitsune turned around to listen as the evil doctor continue his speech. The pink hedgehog watched over his shoulder.

“I will give you the satisfaction of knowing just how much trouble this innocent-looking rabbit put me through.” He raised a clenched fist for the audience to see. “She destroyed several of my prized babies, annihilating my Egg Pawns as if they were nothing! Even her mother tagged in for a bit, but alas,” Robotnik swept his arm in the direction of his prisoners, “their efforts were in vain, and not only do I have Cream and her annoying blue pest in my custody, but,” he reached a gloved hand into his jacket pocket, pulling out a gray gem from within, “I acquired another Chaos Emerald as well. Wooahhooohoohooo!” The doctor’s laughter bellowed out of the weak speakers of the television, distorted audio echoing into the audience’s ears.

“By my calculations,” Eggman continued, raising his fingers to the camera, “I now have three in my collection, and you have one, so three more are still out there, waiting to be found.” The doctor turned to face his robot henchmen watching from the side. “Decoe! Bocoe! Wheel Cream closer, will ya?”

“Aye aye!” the two said in unison as they entered the shot in order to position the captives directly next to the evil madman.

“Bokkun! Get a good shot of this and be sure to edit this out!”

“Y…yes sir,” the messenger robot said in a weak, half-hearted voice, tilting the camcorder downward to get a better shot of Cream, who shielded her eyes from the studio lights with her hands while the chao cried against her orange dress.

“All right Bokkun, be sure to cut right…here!” The doctor’s demeanor changed as he addressed the audience once more, now completely out of the camera eye. “If you’d like to free your precious little friend here, you must trade me all of the remaining Chaos Emeralds, including those still missing.” He laughed once more as the little bunny removed her hands from her face and pressed them against her ear flaps, rolling into a fetal position in the center of her cage. Cheese rubbed his master’s arm with a stubby hand, but it seemed to have no effect. Nevertheless, he persisted as the evil doctor continued laughing maniacally.

“Okay Bokkun, now turn the camera back to me.” He did as instructed, zooming out from the trapped rabbit and spinning the camcorder in Robotnik’s direction. “Now cut back in riiiiiiight, now.”

Putting on another menacing smile while stroking his orange mustache, he continued his rehearsed ransom speech. “But you know what? I’m feeling a bit generous. I’ll give you five…no…seven days to collect the remaining gems.” He raised seven fingers toward his face for the viewers to see. “If you don’t bring me the Chaos Emeralds by then, I will hold Cream indefinitely. Maybe I’ll even put her to work with the janitorial night crew. Wooahhooohoohooo!”

“Eggman is gonna pay…” Sonic balled his hands as his arms began to shake, gritting his teeth.

“Well, I’m off to bask in my victory. Hope the news wasn’t too...explosive.” Eggman snickered as his image disappeared from the television, replaced with a large red number 5, slowly counting downward, accompanied by high-pitched beeps.

“Everyone, dive for cover!” Tails yelled, waving his arms away from the TV. The gang scattered, running as far away as possible with what little time they had. As Tails was the closest, he didn’t have time to duck behind something, so he dove forward, covering his head with his hands as he clenched his teeth and closed his eyes.

BOOM!

A small explosion erupted from within the CRTV, bits of components shooting in all directions as the charred remains produced smoke which slowly dissipated into the sky above.

“Everyone okay?” Sonic asked, stepping out from behind a stack of logs. Attached to him was Amy, whose first instinct in this situation was to dive toward her blue boyfriend and continue holding on well after the danger passed.

“Yeah, I’m fine.” Tails twisted his head, inspecting as much of his back as he could. He couldn’t see or feel any shrapnel, so he rolled over, thoroughly inspecting his arms, legs, and torso. The only thing out of place were the grass stains covering his knees and belly.

Pulling himself up, he watched as Knuckles emerged from behind a makeshift log seat. Rouge, who took to the skies as her flee tactic, returned to the ground below. All of them gathered near the charred grass, none appearing worse for wear.

“Are you kidding me?” Knuckles shook his tightened fists. “It’ll take me hours to clean up this mess!”

“Really?” Amy asked, turning in the red echidna’s direction. “Are you really only concerned about your yard at a time like this?

“I’ll have you know this is sacred ground…” Knuckles looked embarrassed, glancing toward his other friends for support. Receiving only stone-faced stares complete with furrowed brows and disappointed frowns, he turned to Amy as he shrugged his shoulders. “Okay, I guess it is trivial, all things considered.” He grimaced as he turned his attention back to the television wreckage before them, a scowl on his face.

“What do we do now?” Amy asked, turning back to the full party.

Looking up into the sky, Sonic clenched his fists once more.

“We’ve gotta save Cream and Cheese! We know where Eggman’s hiding out, so we could just rush on in and save ‘em.” Sonic’s gaze turned back to Amy and Knuckles as Tails stood to his side. “Pretty simple, huh? We can have Cream back to her mom before dinnertime.”

“I agree,” Knuckles replied, raising a determined fist. “What’s a few Badniks guarding his fortress gonna do to stop us?”

“You said it, Knux.” Sonic raised a clenched hand to the red echidna for a fist bump, which he enthusiastically returned.

“I wish it were that simple,” Tails interjected, watching as the party’s gaze turned to him. “Remember Rouge’s story? She is the expert on infiltration, and not only was she caught, she almost died escaping his fortress.”

“He’s right, as much as I hate to admit it.” Rouge shrugged her shoulders. “Eggman’s base is armed to the teeth with Egg Pawns and large mechs.”

“And that was before Rouge’s narrow escape,” Tails added, rubbing a gloved finger against his chin. “We have to assume Eggman is beefing up his defenses, or even using his new Chaos Emerald to add an extra layer of security.”

“Well? We can’t just do nothing!” Knuckles exclaimed, crushing a component from the destroyed television under his worn shoe.

“What if Eggman has us cornered this time?” The group looked at Amy, who was leaning against her Piko Piko Hammer, her face downcast as her eyes stared at the grass below, drained of their previous fire. “Cream and Cheese are our number one priority, so maybe we could just hand over the emeralds and deal with the fallout later?”

“What!” Knuckles’ face turned red as anger built up inside him. “Are you suggesting we simply give him the Chaos Emeralds? Think of the destruction he’d cause!”

“Knuckles is right.” Tails walked over to the pink hedgehog as a small tear fell from her eye. He placed a gloved hand on her shoulder as a warm, reassuring smile appeared on his face. “But we can think of something…right Sonic?” The orange fox turned to face his older brother, whose arms were folded and eyes closed.

“Well, we always do, so why is this any different?” Sonic cracked a smile as he delivered his signature thumbs up, which Tails returned in kind. Knuckles’ anger ebbed while Amy’s lips formed a small smile of her own, allowing her hammer to fall to the ground as she dried her tears with her index finger.

“Hey, do you guys hear that?” Knuckles turned back to the smoldering bonfire, the pot of water no longer boiling. They watched as Bokkun frantically consumed multiple, half-eaten bowls of oatmeal scattered around the bonfire. Transfixed at his ferocious speed, the party simply watched.

“Boy, he really must be malnourished, huh?” Sonic asked, turning to his young brother.

“I guess,” Tails replied, “but why would Eggman develop a robot dependent on organic matter to sustain itself?”

“Beats me.” Sonic shrugged his shoulders as he closed his eyes.

Amy wasn’t interested in such banter, however; she approached the messenger robot, who had since sat against the base of a log chair, stretching his legs out against the grass while resting his hands against his protruding belly.

“And just what do you think you’re doing?” She peered down at Bokkun with a long frown.

“What?” Bokkun gave the pink hedgehog a confused look while tilting his head. “I delivered my message, so I had oatmeal. Wasn’t that the deal?”

Amy sighed.

“Well, at least he took care of the leftovers.” She grimaced as Bokkun let out a long belch, a satisfied grin appearing on his face as he rubbed his belly once more.

As everyone else laughed at Bokkun’s lack of manners, Tails raced through several different strategies for infiltrating Eggman’s base as his eyes explored the grass below his feet.

Hmmm...well, a direct assault would be too impractical and dangerous. We could try sneaking in, but this poses its own risks, especially as a group, and we don’t know what traps Eggman may be hiding.

A lightbulb went off in his head, and his eyes lit up as he raised a finger upward.

“Hey guys! I think I have an idea.”

“You do? That’s great!” Sonic gave his young brother a warm smile. “So, let’s hear it!”

“Well,” Tails began, “what if we bring all the emeralds to the fortress, get Cream back, and escape with the emeralds before he can get his hands on them?”

“Sounds complicated,” Knuckles replied, folding his arms together as he closed his eyes in thought, “not to mention risky. We’d have all seven emeralds within arms reach of Eggman and his energy doohickey.”

“I didn’t say it wouldn’t be risky,” Tails continued, gesturing with one hand, “but I could probably disable some of Eggman’s traps and mechs from the outside before we even enter the compound. This would at least keep Cream and Cheese safe.”

“I like the way you think, little guy!” Sonic said, ruffling the orange kitsune’s hair.

“Heh, it was nothin’.” Tails waved a hand outward, a small blush appearing over his muzzle.

“There is just one small problem with this plan,” Knuckles said as the brothers turned to face him. “We only have one emerald, and we need three more for Eggman to let us in.”

“True…” Sonic placed a finger against his chin.

“Well, let’s worry about that later.” Tails faced his older brother. “In the meantime, why don’t you fly Amy over to Vanilla’s? I’m sure she could use the emotional support.”

“Right on!” Sonic gave the young fox a thumbs up before turning to the pink hedgehog. “What d’ya say we mosey on out of here?”

“Right.” Amy jumped toward the blue hedgehog, who was ready to catch her in his arms before speeding off toward the Tornado 2.

“Hey Sonic,” Tails yelled, causing his older brother to screech to a halt. “Don’t forget these.” Tails withdrew his keys from his utility belt and threw them toward the blue hedgehog. Amy caught them in her hands before the two took off once more.

“And Rouge,” Tails continued, watching as she inspected her gloved fingers with her legs folded, sitting on a makeshift log chair. “Can we trust you to join us?”

“Me?” she coyly asked, pointing at herself with both hands. “Well, I usually don’t like taking orders, but I’ll make an exception for you, fox boy.” Winking to the lightly-blushing orange kitsune, Rouge stood up from her chair, wiping small bits of bark from her latex pants. “Just keep me posted.” She pointed to the watch she wore on her wrist, different from the ones Tails made for his immediate friends but still communicable with his signature model.

“Of course!” Tails gave the bat a warm smile as she walked toward the edge of the floating island, looking into the azure waters below.

“Be seeing you later. This girl needs a spa treatment.” Giving a two-fingered wave from behind her head, the jewel thief jumped off the edge, allowing herself to fall several yards before gliding upward and steadying her flight, making her way back to the mainland in the distance.

“What will you be doing, Knuckles?” Tails asked, his attention now set on the red echidna standing nearby.

“For now? Cleaning…lots of cleaning.” He walked back to the bomb remnants several yards from the bonfire, shaking his head. “Eggman will rue the day he decided to sully my island…” The red echidna’s grumbles trailed off as he made his way back to his cabin to fetch a garbage bag.

“And now that just leaves me.” Tails stood at the edge of the island, gazing into the blue skyscape, the afternoon sun reflecting over the ocean waters below.

“What can I do to be useful?” Standing in thought for a few moments, he turned his head back to view the Master Emerald shrine in the distance.

“…Open your heart, huh?” He nodded to himself, a sense of resolve forming in his eyes. “Well, guess it can’t hurt.” He slowly made his way through the well-kept grass as he grew closer to the Master Emerald.

Only the sound of rustling wind and ocean waves could be heard at the abandoned campfire, save for the rhythmic snoring of a certain messenger robot, whose catnap ended abruptly as his snot bubble popped. Rubbing his eyes, he looked around to find the site deserted. Bokkun lifted himself up and flew around the perimeter of the bonfire with his jetpack before setting his feet back down in the grass.

“They left me all alone? Why would they do that? I thought we were friends…” Tears began to form in his beady eyes as he sat back down, his downcast face looking into the smoke coming from the extinguished fire in front of him.

“Cream…I hope you’ll be okay…”

“Cream?” came a voice from behind. Knuckles returned from the cabin, a garbage bag in tow. “Why are you concerned about her? I thought you were on Eggman’s side.” The messenger robot quickly jumped backward.

“No, no, no…this isn’t what it looks like!” He waved his hands forward, making himself look all the more guilty.

“What? Are you defecting or something?” Knuckles eyed the robot suspiciously, wind blowing into the opening of the garbage bag, inflating it as it flew like a flag in the red echidna’s hand.

“No! I would never betray Dr. Eggman!” Bokkun shook his head, sweat starting to form along his brow.

“…You robots don’t make any sense.” Knuckles scoffed as he turned to the charred grass. “If you’re not gonna help clean your mess, I suggest you leave immediately.”

“…Right.” Bokkun took flight, making his way upward before flying across the shrine.

The fox looked up as he saw the dark speck above leave the island before sitting down in front of the Master Emerald, cross-legged with his back up straight. He allowed his namesakes to flutter as he studied the mystical gem glistening in the afternoon sun while racking his brain.

Blinking a few times, the orange kitsune rubbed his temple with his gloved fingers.

“Think Tails, think…” After a few more minutes of deep thought, he came up with an idea. “Well…it’s certainly better than nothing.”

The young fox got on his knees and bent his back, bowing to the Master Emerald with hands pressed against each other.

“Oh Master Emerald…ummm…hear…my prayer?”

While he knew nobody was watching, Tails felt his body shake in embarrassment, his namesakes resting against the stone surface behind him as his muzzle grew warm.

“I worship thee divine gem…and all of its…ummm…wonderous…ness…and the power that it…bestows…upon us.”

Yep. Totally losing my mind here.

The fox winced as he looked up at the green emerald, towering over his small figure as he pondered someway to continue his extemporaneous prayer.

“I pledge my…fealty…to you, almighty Master Emerald!”

Tails unclasped his hands and raised his body upwards, slowing swaying his arms toward the sky before allowing them to sway downward. He repeated this several times, as if slowly fanning the mystical gemstone.

“You know that’s not gonna work, right?” The orange kitsune’s hands were upright when he was startled from behind, toppling over backward with arms outstretched. The fox looked up to see Knuckles peering down from above. Tails’ face turned a bright shade of red before managing a few nervous chuckles, his hand rubbing a triangular ear as he cracked a small smile.

“Here.” The red echidna reached his hand down to the fallen fox, who twisted himself around, grabbed hold of his spiked glove, and allowed himself to be pulled back up to his feet.

“Thanks, Knuckles.” Tails brushed bits of gravel from his legs as he fluttered his namesakes.

“At least you get an ‘A’ for effort.” Knuckles cracked a smile. “Come.” The young kitsune watched as the guardian stepped around him, planting his feet in front of the Master Emerald before setting himself down, crossing his legs and holding his back upright. Knuckles patted the stone surface next to him, beckoning the orange fox to join him.

“Oh…okay.” Unsure of Knuckles’ plan, he shrugged his shoulders before taking a seat next to the red echidna.

“When I said to place your faith in the Master Emerald, I didn’t mean to literally pray to it.” Knuckles looked over at the young kitsune, who placed a hand behind his head.

“Yeah, sorry ‘bout that. I probably looked really dumb, huh?”

“Well…just a little.” The red echidna raised a hand forward, forming a small gap between his thumb and the rest of his gloved fingers as if to emphasize his level of dumbness. “Now, I want you to repeat after me.”

“Right.” Tails looked on with determination in his eyes, studying Knuckles as he hoped to emulate him down to a tee.

Knuckles closed his eyes as he drew in a big breath, holding it for several seconds before slowly exhaling. Tails did the same, his face pointing downward as he closed his eyes, filling his lungs with fresh air, keeping his breath held for a few moments before letting a warm flow of air leave his nostrils.

Knuckles repeated this ritual, so Tails did the same. After several rounds of deep breathing, the red echidna looked back at the orange fox.

“How do you feel?”

Tails raised a gloved finger to his chin, looking up at the baby blue sky above.

“Well…I feel fine, actually. No anxiety, no pressure…it’s as if all my worries have been…extinguished.”

“Heh…that’s the idea. Meditative breathing helps ease the soul and calm the mind. You should try it more often.”

“Me specifically, or people in general?”

“…Yes.” The two friends shared a laugh.

“The next step,” Knuckles continued, “is to bare your soul to the Master Emerald.”

“Huh?” Tails looked at him, his head slightly tilted and his brow scrunched.

“Well…” Knuckles rubbed his chin with a gloved hand. “It’s kinda hard to explain. Haven’t really taught anyone before.” The red echidna cleared his throat. “Okay…think of it like this.” His eyes met the young fox’s curious stare. “Imagine you’re in a room with nobody but your closest friend.”

“Right.” Tails closed his eyes once more, placing his hands in his lap as he imaged a blank room with a single couch. He conjured up an image of Sonic sitting alongside him. “Okay, got it. What’s next?”

“Now imagine telling this friend a secret, one so personal you’d only share it with them.”

Well that should be easy. Sonic knows me like an open book. I can’t keep anything from him…well…I guess everyone has their secrets, right?

“A deep fear works, too,” Knuckles added.

Tails wiped his brow, sighing in relief.

Okay…easier.

In his mind’s eye, he imagined venting to his older brother, lifting the weight of the world from his shoulders and sharing this burden with him. Sonic didn’t mind, however, simply looking back at him as he allowed the young kitsune to unload all his past failures and insecurities, the bullying he experienced prior to meeting Sonic, growing up orphaned, and the complete and utter loneliness he felt for a significant portion of his life. He imagined the blue hedgehog wiping the tears from his puffy eyes before embracing him, providing reassurances which helped him feel better about himself.

“Okay,” Tails said, flicking away a small teardrop with a gloved finger. “What now?” Knuckles looked forward, staring at the glistening gem before them.

“Imagine your friend has been replaced with the Master Emerald.”

“…huh?” It usually took a lot to confuse the prodigious kitsune, but he was dumbfounded beyond all measure.

“I know it sounds silly, but try it. Trust me…and the Master Emerald. Treat it like a friend. Form a bond with it. Only then will it help guide you forward.”

“Okay, I’ll give it a try.” Tails sighed once more as he erased Sonic and the imaginative room from his mind, replacing them with the stone shrine he currently occupied. He stepped toward the mystical gem in his head, placing both of his palms against its shimmering surface as he closed his eyes, allowing himself to repeat what he had mentally spoken to Sonic moments before.

Opening his eyes in the real world, the orange fox discovered that he was no longer sitting cross-legged on the stone floor but, rather, standing before the Master Emerald, his hands pressed against its shiny surface as they were in his imagination.

Tails wasn’t startled, though; for reasons unexplained, it felt destined…natural…as if it were meant to be.

“I’m sorry…” Tails closed his eyes once more, a tear rolling down either side of his face. “I know I don’t deserve this…but I…no…we need your help.” The young fox stepped as close as he could to the oversized gemstone, wrapping his arms around it while tears dripped through his muzzle, landing against and trickling down the Master Emerald’s smooth surface.

“We’ve relied on the Chaos Emeralds countless times in our fight against Dr. Eggman, but now he’s on the precipice of winning. Without your help, we won’t have enough time to find them all again.”

“So please…” Tails dropped to his knees as he rested his forehead against the surface of the gem. “…please help us.”

Knuckles watched from several steps away as Tails broke down against the Master Emerald, his shoulders moving up and down with the rhythm of his crying, his arms dangling from his sides as he kept himself propped up with his forehead pressed against the mystical gemstone.

“Tails…are you gonna b—” The red echidna froze as he watched Tails fall over. The young kitsune gripped his forehead with both hands as he groaned in a sudden bout of pain before rolling into a fetal position.

“Tails!” Knuckles rushed over to the orange fox, who instinctively wrapped himself within his namesakes, not responding to the red echidna’s calls. Gently pulling a tail outward, he witnessed as the fox lay on the ground unconscious, his muzzle damp with tears.

Knuckles placed a gloved hand against the fox’s neck. “Good…he still has a pulse.” Collecting himself, he scooped him up into his arms, cradling the orange kitsune like a baby. “Let’s get you inside.” The red echidna slowly made his way down the stairs, not noticing the green glow emanating from the Master Emerald as he walked back to his cabin.

Tails slowly opened his eyes. He looked down at his body, sprawled along the hard, white surface below him.

“Ah geez, this place again?”

Standing up, the orange kitsune looked around to find nothing. Peering down at his utility belt, he was already one step ahead of his own chaos-induced dream, pulling out the cracked emerald detector and turning it on. When he pressed the button on top of the circular screen, though, nothing happened.

“That’s strange.” He pressed the button again. And again. A few more times. He shook it near his ear to see if a screw was loose before trying once more.

“Nothing.” The young fox sighed to himself as he widened his belt pocket with his free hand. Before he could slip the device back in, however, it crumbled in his hand, components and bits of plastic falling to the floor below.

“Ummm…that was weird.” He scratched the hair on his chin before advancing onward, leaving the debris behind.

“Okay…so with no detector…where am I supposed to go?” As if answering his call, the fox noticed a brown speck in the distance. Walking toward it, he was surprised and a bit amused by what he found.

“Really? I don’t even think they’re trying anymore.” The orange kitsune sat on the reclining chair, pulling the footrest up. A large plastic bowl materialized in his lap as the fragrant smell of mint pierced his nostrils. He reached a gloved hand within and grabbed a small, black Mobian Scout™ mint chocolate chip cookie between his fingers. Shrugging his shoulders, he threw the morsel into his mouth, a satisfying grin forming on his face as his lips were coated in black cookie dust.

“Who’d have thought cookies would taste so good in dreamland?”

Taking a few more bites, the fox looked around as the whiteness gave way to black. Tails was along for the ride, though, and wasn’t particularly afraid, his hand wrist-deep in the seemingly bottomless bowl of morsels at his disposal. Finally, an image appeared before him, like a holographic projection with no apparent source. It displayed flickering black and white dots, as if it were a television void of its analogue signal, before finally showing a discernable video.

A piece of cookie fell from Tails’ mouth as his jaw dropped. He watched as he witnessed himself getting captured by Dr. Eggman’s large mech, its mechanical hand wrapped all around the defenseless kitsune.

“Help me, Sonic!” The orange kitsune on-screen reached his arm upward, grasping at the air with his exposed hand as the rest of his body was held captive by Robotnik’s menacing creation.

“Tails!” Sonic was several yards away, panting with his hands against his knees as he looked up at the machine before him. He clenched his fists as he stepped forward.

“Ah ah ahh!” Eggman bellowed from a speaker on the outside of the mech. He sat comfortably in the mech’s control center located in its head. “One more move and the little fox gets it!”

“Damn you, Eggman…” Sonic said under his breath, his eyes locked on the metallic hand keeping his brother trapped in place.

“Wooahhooohoohooo! It looks like you’re in quite the pickle, Sonic! But I’m willing to make an offer…even with the likes of you.” Sonic glared up at the glass oval housing the mad scientist.

“Me, make a deal with you? Fat chance.” Sonic pulled the skin under his eye down with his middle finger while sticking his tongue out at Eggman, blowing a raspberry in the process.

“So that’s the game you want to play, huh? All right then…don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Robotnik snickered as he pulled a lever on his control panel.

“Ahhhhh! S…Sonic, h…help meeeee!” Tails’ screaming was muffled by the mech’s tightening grip.

“Oh no, Tails, buddy. Hold on!” Sonic gritted his teeth with rage as he watched the horror before him.

“Okay, Egghead. Release Tails, and I’ll do what you want.”

“Nah ah ahhh. Do you really think I’m that foolish? I want you to hand over the Chaos Emeralds first. With all seven in-hand, I could care less what happens to your ‘little brother’.”

Sonic grimaced as the evil doctor continued his laughter. Looking back at the metallic claw above, he noticed its grip slowly getting tighter, Tails’ voice no longer audible to the blue hedgehog below.

Present-day Tails felt as if he was about to vomit, tears rolling down his face as he placed a gloved hand against his belly.

Why would the Master Emerald show me this? What’s it trying to prove?

“Ohhh…” The fox gripped the fur on his belly as his eyes remained glued to the holographic projection, too transfixed to look away from this horrible memory.

“Well, Sonic,” Eggman maneuvered the mech’s free hand downward, resting on the ground next to the blue hedgehog as it bent its knees. “What do you say? All seven gems for Tails’ life? Seems like a fair offer if you ask me.”

Sonic stared at the ground as he considered his options. Finally, he looked up at the evil doctor, a sly smile on his face.

“Okay, Egghead. I’ll give ya want you want.”

“No, Sonic! Don’t do it!” The blue hedgehog could hardly hear the pleas of his young brother. For the first and last time in his life, Sonic chose to ignore him, instead reaching for a backpack sitting in the corner of the makeshift battle arena, an abandoned cityscape decimated by the evil mastermind, with a turquoise metal surface below him and an orange, sunsetting sky above. He unzipped the sack and poured its contents out into the palm of the mech’s free hand.

“Haha, glorious! I didn’t think you’d be so reasonable, but I guess even dimwitted rodents such as yourself can show intelligence every now and again.” He snickered at he slowly retracted the hand closer to the head of the mech, hoping to deposit them directly into the central console of the large robot.

“Not so fast, Eggman!” Sonic jumped forward, landing next to the mystical gems as the mechanical hand continued making its way back to Robotnik.

“What? What are you doing!” Eggman yelled, reaching for a lever to jiggle the blue hedgehog off of his creation.

“What am I doin’? Savin’ my little brother, of course!” Sonic breathed deeply as he closed his eyes, planting his feet firmly against the unstable, metallic hand below him as the Chaos Emeralds began to float and spin around him.

“No! I can’t believe this!” Eggman was yanking at either side of his long mustache as he watched Sonic undergo his signature transformation.

Raising his arms forward, and balling his hands into tight fists, Sonic let out a loud shout as the emeralds rapidly spun around him, eventually disappearing from view as the hedgehog’s azure blue coat was overtaken by a glowing shade of yellow. His eyes were red and his quills stood on-end as he glowered at the evil doctor, who still hadn’t managed to stop the mechanical hand from making its ascent closer to him.

“I think it’s time we put this bad boy outta commission.” Sonic smirked as he hurtled through the mech in several directions, slashing through its thick metal as the machine gradually began falling apart. Cutting the wrist which still gripped the young fox, Sonic teleported the metallic hand away from the fight, landing several yards away as the claw’s grip loosened. Tails’ body rolled from its palm and gently landed into Sonic’s arms, the golden hedgehog holding him like a parent caressing their newborn child.

“…S..Sonic…” This was all the young kitsune could say before he closed his eyes, falling out of consciousness. Super Sonic set him down on the ground, wrapping his namesakes around him for good measure before turning around and teleporting back to the fight, slashing the mech a bit more before the central command pod was all that remained.

Eggman’s wits returned as he pressed several buttons on his dashboard. The disguised Egg Mobile previously locked in place within the giant mech lifted itself out of the dilapidated, fiery mess and hovered above the ground. He soared up, attempting to flee the losing battle.

“Oh, I don’t think so.” Sonic teleported in front of Eggman’s path. “So long, Egg-breath!” The ascended hedgehog flew in for a forceful kick, shooting the Egg Mobile and its inhabitant across the destroyed city.

“Cuuuuurseee thaaaaaat heeeeeedgehoooooog!” Eggman’s yell could barely be heard in the distance as he drew farther away from the heroic hedgehog, his departure solidified by the sight of a lone sparkle in the sky.

Sonic floated back down to the ground and walked toward the sleeping kitsune. Smiling to himself, he fell to one knee as exhaustion claimed him. His golden fur dissipated as his standard blue color returned. The seven Chaos Emeralds reanimate themselves around Sonic’s figure, spinning around rapidly before making their way upward. Holding still for a few seconds, the mystical gems shot across the sky in seven different directions.

Sonic watched the emeralds scatter before falling to his belly and crawling toward the ruined metal hand. Gripping its mechanical fingers with labored breaths, he pulled himself up and pressed his back against its open palm, gently pulling the unconscious fox toward him. Placing his little brother in his lap, Sonic wrapped his arms around Tails’ torso, his hands resting within the namesakes still wrapped around him as he rested his back against the mechanical paw. The blue hedgehog closed his eyes, allowing his weariness to take hold.

The holographic video faded away as the darkness around the orange kitsune gave way to piercing white light once more.

The young kitsune still felt nauseous as he pushed the footrest back into the recliner and walked into the white plains of nothingness.

“Why’d you show me that, huh? What are you trying to prove?” Staggering along for several yards, Tails gripped his belly once more before dropping to his knees, breathing heavily.

“Open your heart, Tails…calm yourself…face your fears…and be honest with yourself.”

“What?” Tails squinted, unable to see the woman behind the familiar feminine voice.

“Trust your feelings, Tails. Only then will you find what you seek.”

The fox fell backward, landing on his behind as he used his gloved hands to keep his back upright.

“Well,” Tails started, staring into the empty void before him. “I…yes…I was scared…I felt hopeless…defenseless…and…” a fresh round of tears began to form around the fox’s eyes. “...worthless…”

The fox waited for a reply, but he heard none. Wiping away his tears, he forced himself up, planting his feet to the ground.

“…but not anymore.” Tails raised his fits into the air. “Sonic taught me it’s okay to be scared…okay to be frightened…okay to admit I need help.” He sighed as he looked downward, closing his eyes in deep thought. “…doubt, hopelessness, fear, worry, regret…these are all normal feelings, and it’s okay to experience them. The real test is taking action despite these feelings.” Tightening his balled fists once more, he raised his head to the endless, white chasm above.

“Fear will no longer paralyze me!” Tails screamed as loud as his throat and lungs would allow, his entire body vibrating with the force. “Regret will no longer hinder me! And I will always work hard to save my friends and protect those in need!”

The kitsune fell back down, landing on his behind once more as he gasped for breath, clutching his aching belly with a gloved hand.

“Tails…”

The orange fox looked up to see a shadowy silhouette above him, the feminine shape of someone around his height, with dreadlocks behind her head and a blouse covering her waist. She placed her hand on Tails’ head.

“Please protect the emeralds from the evils that lie before you.”

Tails felt a sense of pressure growing against his forehead where the shadowy hand still rested.

“What’s going on?” The orange kitsune winced as the pain above his eyes grew exponentially.

“Ahhhhh!” He remembered this unpleasant sensation, the same he felt before entering dreamland. He pressed a gloved hand against his face as the pain rose.

The feminine figure planted a gentle kiss against his forehead, seemingly making the pain go away. Lightly blushing through his furry muzzle, the young fox fell to his side, his weary eyes closing as he slept against the cold, white surface, the silhouette fading into the void.

Neru Akita- A courageous tomboy who is misunderstood. Age 17. Miku Hatsune- A bubbly, cheerful, outgoing girl with a lot of friends. Age 15. Luka Megurine- An artistic girl who has a bit of anxiety. Good friends with Meiko. Age 18. Teto Kasane- A bubbly, cheerful girl with an unexpected temper and badass side. Age 15. Megumi “Gumi”- A bit shy, but underneath, she is very brave and resourceful. Age 16. Meiko Sakine- The Mom Friend. Confident and likes to help people. Age 18. Momo Momone- The nicest girl, to the point of being a pushover… Age 15. Rin Kagamine- Unhinged gremlin sibling 1. Wil- A somewhat quiet, mysterious guy who keeps to himself. Age 16. Kyo- A wild guy who is impulsive and kind of dumb. Age 16. Daina- Basically, she’s a furry. Her fursona is a fox. Age 17. Dex- Basically, he’s a furry. His fursona is a wolf. Age 17. Ruby- A girl who likes memes and is basically just vibing through life. Age 16. Yukari Yuzuki- A modest girl who has a crush on Ruby. Easily impressed. Age 16. Shian- An innocent girl who is also quick-tempered and pouts easily. Age 14. Muxin- A kind, knowledgeable boy. He loves history and astronomy. Age 14. IA- A bit mysterious and seems cold and expressionless. Age 16. Piko Utatane- Shy, quiet, and cold. Gets along with Muxin due to similar interests. Age 15. Genbu- Overly-enthusiastic and brash. A bit of a loudmouth. Age 18. Chiyu- Bold, brash, and brave. Kind-hearted and strong. Age 17. Haiyi- Talks a lot. Usually has something up her sleeve. A prank perhaps? Age 16. Leeds Kasumiga- A timid girl with a mysterious heart illness that inhibits her. Age 14. Mew- A real goth, unlike Zatsune, who is a goth-in-training. Age 18. Tei Sukone- A dastardly, manipulative villain who fools people, then bites. Age 16. Cider- A smug, self-absorbed inventor of elaborate but stupid inventions. Age 17. Bruno- An agreeable, outgoing guy who likes spreading good vibes. Age 18. Clara- Bruno’s girlfriend. A little bit timid, but always kind and optimistic. Age 17. Aku Yamine- Quiet and a bit melancholic. She’s… a different type of goth. Emo? Age 14. Lily- A tough high-school delinquent who stands up for the weak. Age 17. Amy- Cheerful, optimistic, yet quite chill. Doubts herself often however. Age 16. Chris- He might be a big guy, but he is quite shy and very gentle. Age 18. Kaori- She seems confident and bright on the outside, but hides sadness? Age 17. Ken- He’s talkative, smart, kind of a dork, but very focused and brave. Age 17. Iroha Nekomura- Innocent and sweet, but agile, with cat-like reflexes. Age 14. SeeU- Energetic, hyperactive, makes bad puns, silly, makes bad puns… Age 16. Kiyoteru Hiyama is the host of the game show. Big Al is in the role of Chef. ——Episodes——— Prologue 1- Introduction to concept. Characters see the advertisement for the game show and contemplate going on it. The winner gets a million dollars! Prologue 2- Introduction to characters via their audition videos, part 1. Kiyoteru chooses contestants. Prologue 3- Introduction to characters via their audition videos, part 2. Kiyoteru chooses contestants. Episode 1- Everyone arrives at Total Drama Island and meets each other. Some get along, and many clash. Notable big-drama-causers include Tei, Eleanor, Dandy, Parsec, Cider, Merli sometimes, and Zatsune sometimes. Koto, Genbu, Ritsu, Haiyi, Daina, and Dex stick out for being especially wild. But really, everyone’s unique personality contributes to the drama and pot of chemistry in their own way. Another camper who sticks out is Gakupo Kamui, who enthusiastically boasts about his skills in martial arts and how ready he is to win Total Drama Island. He begins to get on the nerves of the other campers. “I can out-run, out-kick, out-sing, out-wit, and even out-PISS anybody else here.” Gakupo says. “Well, can you do us a favor and GET-out?” Meiko says. Episode 2- Campers have to jump off a one thousand-foot cliff into a shark-infested lake. Then they have to pull some crates back to camp, and the team from before with the most people who jumped get carts to help them. Then they have to build a hot tub from material found in the crates. The team with the best hot tub wins the challenge. The campers who were too scared to jump off the cliff have to wear chicken costumes for the rest of the day. Despite his incessant bragging previously, Gakupo is one of the few campers who does not jump off the cliff, because it is revealed he is scared of heights, sharks, AND deep water! He even pisses himself and dramatically faints when he gets close to the edge of the cliff... and then he faints off the cliff! However, his jump isn’t accounted for, because Gakupo was not conscious during his fall. Luka has to be the one to jump in after and rescue him! This causes Gakupo of The Dangerous Dolphins to be the first campter voted off. “Well… I guess he was right about out-pissing everyone here.” Neru laughs. The other campers too scared to jump are Taya, Dandy, Eleanor, Clara, Muxin, Chris, and Kaito. Haku is at first too scared, but her best friend Neru encourages her to be brave. They jump together and yell funny things on the way down. Even though Eleanor is scared, she ends up going over anyway after Chiyu pushes her off the cliff, being sick of Eleanor’s arrogance. However, it isn’t even accounted for, because Eleanor did not jump by her own will. Clara is too frightened and doesn’t make the jump, which is surprising, because she was so enthusiastic before. However, her boyfriend Bruno jumped without her… Taya takes one look down the cliff and starts backing away, crying from fear. He feels ashamed that he’s so scared, but he cannot help it. He gets pats on the back from Clara. Dandy makes an excuse as to why he can’t jump. He says he has an open wound from a fencing accident. In reality, Dandy does not fence. Muxin is too scared, but asserts that he doesn’t have to jump off the cliff if he doesn’t want to, and that the challenge is ridiculous. He then comforts Taya, who is curled up sobbing, and tells him not to feel shame. Taya and Muxin become friends, but sadly are on different teams. Chris is too scared and actually starts crying too. People don’t expect it. Kaito is scared to jump, panics and makes a bit of a scene, and is then picked on and belittled by his brother Akaito for the rest of the day. Kaito then vows he will become braver from here on. Braver, and stronger! Leeds actually does jump from the cliff, but it causes her heart to become weak and she has trouble walking for the rest of the day. Some of the members on her team rudely deem her a nuisance, but others tell her to take it easy and understand her. Afterwards, Clara gets a bit sour at Bruno, who is her boyfriend, for jumping the cliff without noticing she was too scared. Koto jumps the cliff and she actually has fun. But afterwards, she wears a chicken suit anyway, because she loves birds. Episode 3- The challenge is to stay awake the longest in the "Awake-A-Thon" after running twenty-kilometers and eating a huge meal that includes turkey, which is known for making people sleepy. Dell of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for falling asleep first. He generally has a bad attitude and is apathetic. Haku feels heartbroken because Total Drama Island was the first time she had seen Dell since her parents’ divorce (by complete chance, even,) and he is not the warm person he used to be. Also, the time was so short. But unexpectedly, Dell acts nice to Haku right before he leaves, calling her to his room when he’s packing to go off the island. They have a nice conversation. Before Haku says goodbye, Dell says “Listen, I’m just not cut out for this wacky game. So you better win. I KNOW you can do it.” Haku begins crying and hugs Dell. Just like when they were kids. There will eventually be a list of who falls asleep first to last, but that’s quite convoluted. So I will say Dell falls asleep first, and Ruko second. Campers were not allowed to drink coffee during the challenge, rendering our Long Sleeper without access to her “secret weapon.” Koto stays up the longest, because she is a bird lover and loves birds too much to consume them. She was the only one who didn’t eat any turkey with her meal, and therefore didn’t become as sleepy. Also simply because she is badass and feral. Episode 4- A best-of-five dodgeball game. Five people are randomly chosen on each team. This is repeated three times for a total of three rounds of dodgeball. The Dangerous Dolphins win 2 out of 3 games. Zatsune of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for being scared of dodgeball. It was a fear ingrained into her from her elementary school days, when the “dodgeball kids would bully her.” Sadly, since Zatsune always acts so cocky, nobody feels much sympathy now. Taya and Muxin want to spend time with each other. Being on different teams, they can’t, and are deemed traitors. But when Tei, on Taya’s team, suggests Taya could get valuable information about the other team via Muxin, Taya refuses to sabotage their friendship. This causes Tei to begin picking on Taya… Episode 5- A three-on-three talent show contest. Dex of The Killer Porpoises gets voted off for no reason. He wasn’t even in the talent show! Dandy wanted to get chosen by his team, the Dangerous Dolphins, to be in the talent show, claiming his “talent” was unmatched. However, he wasn’t chosen because he didn’t exactly have any real actual skills despite his claim! Taya, Luka, and Gumi are eventually chosen by the Dangerous Dolphins for their talents in music. Luka will play piano, Taya will play the violin, and Gumi will play the electric bass as they all sing a song cover. This causes Dandy to criticize their every note and call them amateur. Given Taya and Gumi’s low self-esteem, Dandy’s criticism gets to them before the final talent show. As for the Killer Porpoises, Yuuma, Ritsu, and IA get chosen as the team’s musicians. They form more of an idol dance group, with a pre-recorded background track. (It will also be a cover.) The Dangerous Dolphins actually win. If they were to have lost, Dandy would’ve probably been the one voted off for being a prick. Episode 6- Campers have to go to the forest, stay out there overnight, then race back to the campgrounds in the morning. Yukari of the Killer Porpoises gets voted off. See, it wasn’t really Yukari’s fault, but… she got attacked by a bear and is now too injured to stay for the game, so the voting off was mandatory, even though the Killer Porpoises otherwise won. Everyone becomes more-or-less traumatized at this, and feel very hurt for Yukari. Episode 7- Campers have to face their worst fear, specific to each camper. Yuuma gets voted off. Koto’s worst fear is the perfume department from Spongebob, because that scene scarred her as a little kid. So the host of the game show, Kiyoteru, magically opens a door to the perfume department at a real department store and Koto has to walk through it. Koto only makes it 5 steps in before she runs out, screaming. She does not pass her fear test! Yuuma is scared of the Crab Rave because there are too many crabs. So he is taken to a part of the island overrun by crabs, and Kiyoteru turns on the Crab Rave song and they all start dancing. Yuuma dives into the water screaming. But the crabs chase him. He doesn’t pass his fear test. Taya attempts to outwit Kiyoteru and pretends he is afraid of strawberry shortcake, which is actually his favorite food. But everyone remembers how scared he was in the first challenge at the cliff. So Taya’s specific challenge is to jump off the cliff this time… Episode 8- Row a canoe to Boney Island, portage across the island, start a bonfire, and canoe back to camp. Wil gets voted off. Episode 9- Hunt the other team dressed as deers with paintball guns, or if one is a deer, avoid being hit by them. Piko gets voted off. Episode 10- Create a three-course meal for Kiyoteru to judge. Three chefs are chosen from each team. Miku gets voted off. Episode 11- Participate in a set of three-out-of-five trust exercises. Shian gets voted off. Episode 12- Make it through Big Al’s life-threatening and disgusting boot-camp challenges. IA gets voted off. Episode 13- Participate in three extreme sport challenges. The challenges are "sofa skydiving", riding a moose while avoiding being tossed off it, and water-skiing on mud. Lapis gets voted off. Episode 14- Eat a nine course meal of disgusting food made by Big Al. Drink shot glasses of blended cockroaches. Yuu gets voted off. Episode 15- Episode 16- Episode 17- Episode 18- Episode 19- Episode 20- Episode 21- Episode 22- Episode 23- Episode 24- Episode 25- Episode 26- Episode 27- Episode 28- Episode 29- Episode 30- Episode 31 Episode 32- Episode 33- Episode 34- Episode 35- Episode 36- Episode 37- Episode 38- Episode 39- Episode 40- Episode 41- Episode 42- Episode 43- After this challenge, the teams are disbanded. It’s now every camper for themself. Episode 44- Get through several rounds of torture, lasting at least ten seconds in each one. Eleanor gets voted off because she can’t take torture. Episode 45- Receive a clue to find a key hidden somewhere in the island to open a treasure chest containing a prize. Ritsu found a dud chest and his prize was… getting voted off. Episode 46- Avoid getting sprayed by Big Al’s water gun in a game of hide and seek. Parsec gets voted off. Good riddance! Episode 47- Build a bike from scratch, and then race it. Who rides who’s bike? Anyway, Dandy gets voted off. Probably because he’s 7 foot 4 and huge. He probably broke all the bikes. Episode 48- Watch a horror movie and then avoid being captured by a "deranged killer". Gumi gets voted off because she was scared. Episode 49- Catch the specific animal assigned by Kiyoteru and bring it back to the campground unharmed. Taya had to bring back a raccoon. He came back first. Koto had to bring back a bear. She came back second. What a total beast! And I’m talking about KOTO! Genbu had to bring back an eagle. He came back third. Leeds had to bring back a frog. She came back fourth. Kaito had to being back a squirrel. He came back fifth. Haku had to bring back a moose. She came back sixth. Tei gets sent off because she couldn’t bring back a mere chipmunk. The little chipmunk was trained in king-fu and ended up beating her up! Hooray! Episode 50- Compete in the following while handcuffed to one of the other campers: eat disgusting food with your hands behind your back while the person handcuffed to you feeds you, return a fragment of Haku’s cursed tiki idol to Boney Island, and assemble a totem pole with the wooden heads of the voted out campers in the order that they are eliminated. Taya gets voted off. Episode 51- Campers have to find Kiyoteru and Big Al after being washed away by a storm. Leeds gets voted off because her condition came to its worse. Her weak heart had finally failed on her and she suffered a heart attack. She was doing so good in the game despite her shortcomings, and will serve as an inspiration for many. Leeds will not die. She is in good hands. She will get top medical care. Now, a twist is revealed to the audience. Everyone who was voted off actually went to go to a beautiful island resort. The remaining campers still don’t know about this. When Leeds finally gets consciousness back, she finds she is in paradise. At first, she thinks she is dead. The room then fills up with everyone else voted off, and she begins crying. “They really killed you?” She cries. “No, Leeds!” Yukari says. “You’re alive! You made it… to Paradise Island!” Episode 52- An episode dedicated to the Island of Losers, which is actually a five-star island resort paradise. Yukari has fully recovered from her injuries. Gakupo and all the others who were eliminated early finally get their time to shine! The losers will also be involved in the episodes to come, as they will be the audience. Episode 53- The campers have to find their way back to camp after being left in the wild with limited supplies. Unexpectedly, our total beast, Koto Fuuga, comes back last. Rumors have it, this is because she found a bird sanctuary and got distracted. Episode 54- Survive a series of dares, given by the eliminated campers until someone drops out. Haku is forced to do something horrible by Tei. Tei dares Haku to joke around and portray offensive stereotypes. On national TV. She just can’t do it… She drops out, but not before insulting Tei to her face. But Kaito says Haku made the right choice. She sacrificed her chance to win a million dollars so that Tei didn’t have to force her to make a choice that could hurt people when they see it on TV. Kaito thinks Haku deserves an amazing consolation prize. Genbu respects Haku for this as well. Episode 55- The two remaining campers have to climb a pole and retrieve a flag, walk across a board on top of shark-infested waters while carrying an eagle's egg, and run a race to cross the finish line. Kaito is about to give up… but… There is ice cream at the finish line! Kaito makes a mad dash to the finish line and wins Total Drama Island!! Episode 56- Kaito won! But there is a twist. In order to actually win the million dollars, he has to find the a case containing the $1,000,000 and bring it to the Dock of Shame before anyone else does! This is a race between him and all the other campers!
