So, the Harmont Heroes go to Eisengard! I love this prompt <3

The Ring-bearer, entrusted with carrying the One Ring (bonus: funniest instance they use it to nope right out of reality):

Max kinda takes after Frodo IMO, and I think the others would deem him the most trustworthy. He would take this duty extremely seriously, keeping the ring off his finger at all times—that is, until combat breaks out. It almost becomes a panic response. Anytime he's in danger—BOOM. Invisible. I think it would also be really funny if he just slipped it on anytime he felt like he was third-wheeling too hard on Harley and Jade. Just sliding out unnoticed and without confrontation.

2. The “Sam”, armed with a frying pan and a wizard of potatoes:

Sophia—which might seem like an odd choice until you remember how devoted she is to the people she loves. She will protect them until her last fighting breath.

3. Sean Bean, who dies in every movie — falls victim to their own hubris:

Bellona, stronger than the rest and too proud for her own good. Ultimately, she's her own undoing, which is ironic, since no one else seems able to take her down.

4. Totally crushing on Arwen and has a really cool sword:

Most likely Harley, since there's not much she wouldn't give for a cool sword (Jade is Arwen).

5. AND MY AXE:

Jet, 100%. Way too eager for action, but at least he's got the spirit!

6. AND MY GLOCK BOW:

Janus. Cool, collected, slightly unhinged, and ready to make it everybody else's problem.

7. Merry and Pippin the “package deal”, very concerned about missing second breakfast:

Ahren and August have BIG Merry and Pippin energy. On their own, they're both loyal and semi-competent, but once you put them in a room together, the brain cells cancel each other out.

8. The dude with a sick staff and a concerning amount of explosives, may or may not be an actual wizard:

Evelyn Cho, Max's mother. That woman may have a secret or two up her sleeve.

I know I always get overemotional reading Piranesi by Susanna Clarke but for some reason when I got to this part last night I just cried uncontrollably for five straight minutes and I can’t explain why

I can watch no longer in silence. I must complain about you by such means as are within my reach. You've ripped out my soul. I am half agony, half hopeless. Tell me not that this is it, that such precious Jane Austen adaptations are gone forever.

I offer you my screenwriting advice with a heart even more desperate than when you almost broke it with the release of the Persuasion trailer one month ago.

Dare not say that this movie is accurate, that this Anne is a stronger protagonist than her book counterpart. I have loved none but her. Pretentious I may have been, annoying and demanding I have been, but always with the film’s best interests at heart.

The book alone has brought me to you. For it alone I sat and watched. Have you not realized this? Can you fail to have understood my wishes? I would not have waited even ten minutes after turning off the TV to write this, could I have mastered my own feelings, as I think you must have guessed mine.

I can hardly type. I am in every instant recalling something which makes me want to punch a wall. You rewrote Anne as a snarky girlboss, but I can appreciate the nuance of her book counterpart when it would be lost on the Netflix execs. Too horrible, too disgusting adaptation! You do us insult, indeed. You do believe that there is not a single brain cell in your audience. Believe mine to have shriveled up and died while watching this movie, most painfully, in the brain of

I must go, and cleanse my remaining sanity with the 1995 adaptation; but I shall return hither, to laugh at this adaptation with my friends, as soon as I can stomach it. But another sentence of clunky narration, another infuriating wink from this horrible version of Anne to the camera, will be enough to make me cancel my Netflix subscription forever.

One REALLY underrated moment in Return of the King:

Gandalf calls Pippin a “fool” a lot throughout the trilogy. Calling Pippin a “fool of a Took” is one of Gandalf’s most famous lines, lol.

Gandalf angrily tells Pippin not to ask “foolish” questions at the door of Moria, calls him “a fool but an honest fool” after he looks into the Palantir, etc.

Gandalf is the wisest member of the Fellowship, so it makes sense that he’d find the most foolish member of the Fellowship a little grating.

But then the “Gandalf and Pippin are forced to spend time together” subplot happens in ROTK. And in one my favorite scenes in the film, Gandalf and Pippin wait for the shadow of Mordor to reach Minas Tirith.

Pippin asks: “Is there any hope, Gandalf? For Frodo and Sam?”

And Gandalf kinda smiles and responds: “There never was much hope..... Just a fool’s hope.”

It’s just this really great moment of humility where Gandalf acknowledges that in many ways, he’s just as much of a “fool” as Pippin.

Fellowship Himbo Ranking

The rankings are based on a numerical system out of three, being ranked on Kind, Beefy and Stupid. The more of these criteria they meet, the more himbo they are. Goes Himbo ---> Not Himbo.

Himbo

Sam. Sam is the himboest himbo. He’s strong enough to carry Frodo fairly easily (and Frodo can’t be that light, yes he’s not eating well, yes he’s barely there, but he’s still made of flesh. He’s gotta be a solid forty-fifty pounds or so, which isn’t easy to carry for a long period of time). He’s gentle, simple, and buff. 3/3 Himbo criteria.

Legolas--Tall. Strong. Sometimes gives good advice, mostly acts on emotion. Almost aggressively kind and supportive to his friends, but god forbid if you get on his bad side. 3/3 Himbo criteria.

Boromir--More brawn than brains. Not stupid per se, but has gotten by on strength of arm for his whole life due to Denethor, Faramir, Gandalf and various advisors doing most of the intellectual heavy lifting. 2/3 Himbo criteria--Kind and Strong.

Pippin--Not brawny, but is male and has roughly one brain cell, which is a loaner from Merry. 2/3 Himbo Criteria--Kind and Dumb.

Aragorn--Buff, but smart. Honestly, he has very few flaws save a touch of hubris. 2/3 Himbo Criteria--Kind and Strong.

Merry--One step less himbo than Pippin on account of having just a little more common sense. 1.5/3 Himbo Criteria--Kind, and of apparently average intelligence but prone to Mishaps and Shenanigans.

Gimli--He’s really of average intelligence. He’s buff as hell, though. 1.5/3 Himbo Criteria--strong and an aggressive simp, which classes for kind because he’s respectful about it.

Gandalf--Physical strength is the only thing keeping him from being further towards Not Himbo. And yes, I do believe he is kind at his core, he’s just snarky af. 1.5/3 Himbo Criteria--Kind (but doesn’t show it) and Strong.

Frodo--Kind of the anti-himbo. Small, frail and smart. He only meets the Kind criteria, whereas the others meet at least one and a half of the three to some degree. 1/3 Himbo Criteria-Kind.

Merry: honestly the only one of two with a fully functional brain??? Brave and can be dumb but also knows how to think

Frodo: the second dumbest bitch. Will do anything to protect everyone else but needs someone to keep an eye on him 24/7

Aragorn: other one with a fully functional brain. Strong, smart, brave, tries his best to keep the dumb ones safe but he’s very outnumbered.

Boromir: 💕💕💕 rip to the best bitch. Half dumb, can stoop to Pippin’s level at times, cares too much

Sam: get yourself a dumb loyal bitch like Sam like he,,,,, was ready to drown to get his suicidal friend to take him with??? Doesn’t think he’s brave???

Gimli: half formed brain, willing to follow a man he met like 2 weeks ago into battle constantly??? He made you run for days and you still trust him?? Competitive but stupidly reckless

Legolas: hot dumb athletic bitch, forgot about how he has 3 brain cells because of his kill count. Only thinks about killing and his friends??

I don’t know them / don’t know them but they intrigue me / i hate them / i dislike them / would low key wanna fight them / they’re alright / i like them / i love them / fav character / would die for them / problematic fav / character I love to hate / character I hate to love / too pure for this world / literally on sight

favorite thing about them: From what relatively little we see, we still get a complex character. He’s a snarky dork. He’s sarcastic, adorable, dorky, and sweet. (And deserves so much better) He obviously loves his family, and probably used books as a means to escape his shitty real life/afterlife. I can relate. But even though he seemed to be the most outwardly nerdy one growing up, he was apparently just as prone to being a mischievous little shit with occasionally no brain cells as the rest of his family. I love that he had a multilayered personality, that in general you can call him sweet, but it really doesn’t serve as a clear overall description because there’s so much more to him. I love characters that feel like real people. (My main reason for loving the show itself, really)

Least favorite thing about them: He can be manipulative. We really don’t get to see him interact with people outside of Klaus most of the time. But pretty much the only ability he has for 13 years is to use words. Couldn’t touch anything, couldn’t tell anyone else what was going on with Klaus... So yeah, I’m sure he had to get pretty good at using verbal emotional barbs during his afterlife.

brOTP: I want more stories about his childhood with Diego and with Vanya. I know that even he could be dismissive of her sometimes since that’s basically what was ingrained in them. But I got the impression he was still one of the kindest to her. And from the sounds of it, he and Diego were up to trouble as kids. And I LIVE for that shit. (Why do you think I’m a huge fan of Fred & George or Merry & Pippin. Troublemakers ftw!)

OTP: Ben/Life

nOTP: Ben/any of the siblings. Shipping the Hargreeves siblings together kinda squicks me out.

other ship(s): Ben’s one-sided crush on Jill was friggin’ adorable on his side of things. (Again, he’s a DORK and I LOVE him for it). But given that she was completely unaware of him and obsessed (and already had sex) with his brother... makes it get kinda... weird. Not sure I can entirely ship it for that, but crushy Ben was fuckin’ cute anyway.

Fave line: He got some especially good ones in Season 2. “Maybe you have the right to be pissed off and sad and messed up, but it’s a shitty world full of shitty people sometimes.” And of course, who can forget “I love dirt.” But honestly its his facial expressions and body language in response to things around him that are THE BEST. He radiates sarcasm even when he says nothing. (I also like when he says “Attagirl”, but that’s just.... my brain being a freak.)

Rando headcanon: He read Lord of the Rings when they were all pre-teen age (maybe some of the others did too, who knows), and his favorite character was Faramir. If asked for a favorite Fellowship member, he’d say Frodo. But Faramir is the character he sort of latched onto while reading them.

Unpopular opinion: He’s not a perfect angel. I know I talk about him being a sweet, pure cinnamon roll. But I guess that’s more in comparison to his siblings. Fandom acts like he is always totally innocent and pure and nothing but kind. But honestly, he’s just as fucked up as the rest of them, so he’s had his own share of asshole moments. I mean seriously, if he’d been corporeal and standing in front of me when he told Klaus “You’d be dead if it weren’t for me,” I’d have whacked him with a rolled up newspaper. Favorite character or no. Much as I dearly love him. That was uncalled for.

Song I associate with them: “Until it Sleeps” -Metallica (I’d link but fucking tumblr hates links nowadays)

Fav picture of them: I am still rather fond of The Wink. I am but one useless, weak bisexual.

Din Djarin

favorite thing about them: His dedication to his people and family. There is nothing he will not do for family. (And by family, I don’t mean the people fate stick you with, but the people you CHOOSE to consider family. That’s one of the things I love about Mandalorian culture in general.)

Least favorite thing about them: That there’s still so little there for us to see or work off of. It feels like he’s still so much of a blank slate of a character. Like a lot of our love for him is who he is with OTHER people, and the potential for who he could be.

brOTP: I could never have seen myself saying this before season 2, but I actually would love to see him and Mayfield team up again. I genuinely really enjoyed that character’s second episode. And I’d very much DISLIKED him in season 1. But that was some great interaction this time around and I want more.

OTP: Not sure I actually ship him with anyone romantically ATM.

nOTP: Din/Cara Dune. No. They’re just bros. Please gods, do not try to make that romantic. It would just be weird.

other ship(s): I got nothin’. There’s been some moments with others definitely getting some Mando thirst but really, can you blame them? Mandalorian armor is sexy AF, I’ve been sayin it for a decade. I’m glad people are finally agreeing.

Fave line: “Moff Gideon. You have something I want. You may think you have some idea what you are in possession of, but you do not. Soon, He will be back with me. He means more to me than you will ever know.” That scene. Chills. Fuckin’ CHILLS.

Rando headcanon: Drawing a blank. We really do need to see some more of him. I mean, to some degree there isn’t a lot there to work off of. Which sometimes can lend itself to a boatload of headcanons. But in some cases, it’s still vague enough I feel like I have nothing to even start from. I really hope we get some more character development and complexity from Din in Season 3.

Unpopular opinion: I’m not actually sure what the unpopular opinions of him are... I guess I don’t see Pedro Pascal as thirst-inducingly hot as a lot of people seem to? Don’t get me wrong, I do think he’s pretty attractive. I’m with people there. But for me, he just isn’t at the level of super-mega-awesome-foxy-hot a LOT of Din Djarin fans seem to see him as.

Song I associate with them: Don’t really have one as of yet. I’m racking my brain, but nope. Don’t really have anything in my collection (that I can think of) that seems to fit him.

Fav picture of them: I love this shot. Is this not the most Mandalorian thing you have ever fuckin’ seen? Darksaber in one hand, foundling in the other, pure beskar armor gleaming, pure beskar spear strapped to his back, all while having just defeated a dangerous foe. Mando AF.
