Day 255.
Tumblr media
Here, my second attempt at doing something with Pixelmator, iPad, and pencil.
I'm pretty pleased with this one, considering my unfamiliarity with the tools and the medium. I feel a lot better showing y'all this one than I did yesterday's sundial.
It is worth mentioning that even when you think you understand how smart parrots are, they are even smarter. The story of Alex, a parrot who learned to read, makes for the best reading you will have all day, or at least the best parrot-related reading you will have all day.

Ellora Cave 11 Do Taal Panorama at Ground Floor.. (2 / 7) [2 / 4]
A view of the excavated yard outside the ground floor. Ellora, MH.
Cave 11 is usually overlooked after the splendor of Cave 10, and because it looks just like any of your modern day brutalist dormitories. It is called Do Taal (two floors) because the ground floor had been buried and was only excavated in 1876.
Panorama put together with Luminar. A bit colorful trashy hoarding removed with Pixelmator.

A Creek and Mountain Setting (Banff National Park)
flickr
A Creek and Mountain Setting (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A last stop along the Icefields Parkway. The setting sunlight is slowly drawing down on Mount Weed in the distance. There was an old gravel road in most of the foreground I couldn't quite work out for this image. I loved the creek flowing by in this mountain setting. I'd recently bought Pixelmator to try out on my Mac. I used that to repair out signs and gravel road. Otherwise, it's just minor tweaking in Capture NX2 with CEP filters.

Guardian of Nara
Made a new print available. Originally a two-part, two-color, linocut print that I carved and later digitized after two hand made print runs.
There are several color combinations available.

Photomator Q&A and Initial Thoughts
By: Joseph Correa
Follow @Frontproofmedia!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=/^http:/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id))(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Mac version of Photomator by the Pixelmator Team. I had previously used their iOS app and was excited to see how well the software translated over. While testing the software, I asked the developer questions, which I detail below.
Q: What inspired the development of Photomator, and what are the fundamental problems it aims to solve?
A:  The inspiration behind Photomator stemmed from the success of our previous application, Pixelmator Pro. We noticed our users appreciated Pixelmator Pro for its advanced yet easy-to-use image editing capabilities. However, Pixelmator Pro is a graphic design tool built primarily for single-document design projects. We felt the need to introduce a dedicated photo editing tool where users could easily jump from photo to photo to make edits and batch-edit whole photoshoots at a time. Also, just like Pixelmator Pro, Photomator had to be a native app and offer a seamless editing experience.
In short, our primary objective with Photomator was to provide advanced photo editing capabilities with an intuitive interface, ensuring both ease of use and outstanding performance.
Q: Could you provide some insights into the unique features and functionalities that set it apart from other software on the market?
A: Leveraging its native integration with Mac, iPhone, and iPad, Photomator delivers lightning-fast performance, even when processing large files or batch-editing numerous photos simultaneously. It boasts an award-winning design and harnesses the full potential of macOS technologies, including Metal, Core ML, Core Image, and Apple silicon on Mac. By making the most of these native technologies, we've crafted advanced AI tools that can increase image resolution, remove color banding, auto-enhance colors in photos, or seamlessly remove unwanted objects from pictures—all with a single click of a button.
So far, I have been incredibly pleased with the speed and power of Photomator's toolset. It's particularly impressed me with its ability to manage color. It does a great job of rendering high-quality results quickly. Though not a full-fledged Lightroom or Capture One competitor, for the price, Photomator cannot be beaten. It offers many advanced features and is excellent for beginners and experienced photo editors.
I will follow up with a detailed review shortly. If you’re interested in checking out Photomator for yourself, you can check it out and try it for free: https://www.pixelmator.com/photomator/

Just pulled a string ...
Oh my … oh my … oh my … It’s been over 9 months now, since my last creation and commit onto these pages. It is traditionally enough time for a gestation in the human realm, isn’t it? However, rather than someone was born, I have had to face a fairly painful disappearance, the passing of my dad Georges in November 2022. May he rest in peace, God might bless his cotton socks! So you can call it a…

Day 254.
Tumblr media
Everything's a first attempt the first time you do it, and this is my first attempt to use Pixelmator and a pencil. I mean, at least I don't have to say "it's supposed to be a sundial", it's obviously a sundial.
Please do not ask how long it took to produce this. Seriously, please do not ask how many minutes I spent trying to figure out how to make a triangle tilt, and then just freehanding it because I finally gave up. Do not ask about the sundial's shadow. There are, really, so many things you shouldn't ask about.
I'm honestly, truly, back-to-the-early-days-of-the-blog not proud of this one, but I have to remember the rule: it doesn't have to be good, it just has to be done.

Mount Andromache Partially Hidden in the Clouds (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: There I was enjoying a ride along the Icefields Parkway, and I see this view off in the distance. "Please stop" came out rather quickly, needless to say. I took several captures at this point on the road, but here I focused on the mountain and included some nearby hillside of trees. This image was about the beauty of mountain peaks partially hidden behind some clouds and some still freshly fallen snow to add a little bit of whiteness to the greens of the nearby trees. Just a beautiful Spring day in the Canadian Rockies, you might say.
