Tafsir Ibn Kathir: Surah Al-Imran Ayah 190-194

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

190. Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the Earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. 191. Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created this without purpose, glory to You! Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire. 192. "Our Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have disgraced him; and never will the wrongdoers find any helpers. 193. "Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one calling to faith: `Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and expiate from us our evil deeds, and make us die along with Al-Abrar (the most righteous). 194. "Our Lord! Grant us what You promised us through Your Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection, for You never break (Your) Promise.''

The Proofs of Tawhid for People of Understanding, their Characteristics, Speech, and Supplications

Allah said,

Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the Earth, referring to the sky in its height and spaciousness, the earth in its expanse and density, the tremendous features they have of rotating planets, seas, mountains, deserts, trees, plants, fruits, animals, metals and various beneficial colors, scents, tastes and elements.

And in the alternation of night and day, as one follows and takes from the length of the other. For instance, at times one of them becomes longer than the other, shorter than the other at times and equal to the other at other times, and the same is repeated again and again, and all this occurs by the decision of the Almighty, Most Wise.

This is why Allah said,

there are indeed signs for men of understanding, referring to the intelligent and sound minds that contemplate about the true reality of things, unlike the deaf and mute who do not have sound comprehension.

Allah said about the latter type,

And how many a sign in the heavens and the earth they pass by, while they are averse therefrom. And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him. (12:105-106)

Allah then describes those who have good minds, Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides.

Al-Bukhari recorded that Imran bin Husayn said that the Messenger of Allah said, Pray while standing, and if you can't, pray while sitting, and if you cannot do even that, then pray lying on your side.

These people remember Allah in all situations, in their heart and speech, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the Earth, contemplating about signs in the sky and earth that testify to the might, ability, knowledge, wisdom, will and mercy of the Creator.

Allah criticizes those who do not contemplate about His creation, which testifies to His existence, Attributes, Shariah, His decree and Ayat.

Allah said,

And how many a sign in the heavens and the Earth they pass by, while they are averse therefrom. And most of them believe not in Allah except that they attribute partners unto Him. (12:105-106)

Allah also praises His believing servants, Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, supplicating;

"Our Lord! You have not created this without purpose,''

You did not create all this in jest and play. Rather, You created it in truth, so that You recompense those who do evil in kind, and reward those who do righteous deeds with what is better.

The faithful believers praise Allah and deny that He does anything in jest and without purpose, saying, "glory to You,'' for You would never create anything without purpose.

"Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.''

meaning, "O You Who created the creation in truth and justice, Who is far from any shortcomings, or doing things without purpose or with jest, save us from the torment of the Fire with Your power and strength. Direct us to perform the deeds that make You pleased with us. Guide us to righteous work from which You admit us into the delightful Paradise, and save us from Your painful torment.''

They next supplicate,

"Our Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have disgraced him; by humiliating and disgracing him before all people on the Day of Gathering.

"and never will the wrongdoers find any helpers.''

on the Day of Judgment, who would save them from You. Therefore, there is no escaping whatever fate You decided for them.

"Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one calling to faith,''

a caller who calls to faith, referring to the Messenger of Allah.

`Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed, accepted his call and followed him.

"Our Lord! Forgive us our sins,''

on account of our faith and obeying Your Prophet.

("Forgive us our sins''), and cover them.

"and expiate from us our evil deeds,''

between us and You, in private,

"and make us die along with Al-Abrar,"

join us with the righteous people.

"Our Lord! Grant us what You promised unto us through Your Messengers,''

for our faith in Your Messengers, or, and this explanation is better; grant us what You promised us by the words of Your Messengers.

"and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection,''

before all creation.

"for You never break (Your) Promise.''

for surely, the promise that You conveyed to Your Messengers, which includes us being resurrected before You, shall certainly come to pass.

It was the Prophet's tradition to recite the ten Ayat at the end of Surah Al Imran when he woke up at night for (voluntary) prayer.

Al-Bukhari recorded that Ibn Abbas said,

"I slept one night at the house of my aunt, Maymunah. The Messenger of Allah spoke with his wife for a while and then went to sleep. When it was the third part of the night, he stood up, looked at the sky and recited, Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding... (3:190)

The Prophet then stood up, performed ablution, used Siwak (to clean his teeth) and prayed eleven units of prayer. When Bilal said the Adhan, the Prophet prayed two units of prayer, went out (to the Masjid) and led the people in the Dawn prayer.''

This was also collected by Muslim.

Ibn Marduwyah recorded that Ata' said,

"I, Ibn Umar and Ubayd bin Umayr went to Aishah and entered her room, and there was a screen between us and her. She said, `O Ubayd! What prevents you from visiting us?'

He said, `What the poet said, `Visit every once in a while, and you will be loved more.'

Ibn Umar said, `Tell us about the most unusual thing you witnessed from the Messenger of Allah.'

She cried and said, `All his matters were amazing. On night, he came close to me until his skin touched my skin and said, `Let me worship my Lord.'

I said, `By Allah I love your being close to me. I also love that you worship your Lord.'

He used the water-skin and performed ablution, but did not use too much water. He then stood up in prayer and cried until his beard became wet. He prostrated and cried until he made the ground wet. He then laid down on his side and cried. When Bilal came to alert the Prophet for the Dawn prayer, he said, `O Messenger of Allah! What makes you cry, while Allah has forgiven you your previous and latter sins?'

He said,

O Bilal! What prevents me from crying, when this night, this Ayah was revealed to me, Verily, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. Woe to he who recites it but does not contemplate it.''

For this project (already 125+ releases deep), which is just impossibly daunting and makes me head hurt. IDK how to streamline this process or is any “critic” out there really listening to “all” the good music? It’s impossible I guess... ALMA PINPOINTS THE FORMATION SITE OF PLANET AROUND NEAREST YOUNG STAR Researchers using ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) found a small dust concentration in the disk around TW Hydrae, the nearest young star. It is highly possible that a planet is growing or about to be formed in this concentration. This is the first time that the exact place where cold materials are forming the seed of a planet has been pinpointed in the disk around a young star. The young star TW Hydrae, located 194 light-years away in the constellation Hydra, is the closest star around which planets may be forming. Its surrounding dust disk is the best target to study the process of planet formation. Previous ALMA observations revealed that the disk is composed of concentric rings. Now, new higher sensitivity ALMA observations revealed a previously unknown small clump in the planet forming disk. The clump is elongated along the direction of the disk rotation, with a width approximately equal to the distance between the Sun and the Earth, and a length of about four-and-a-half times that. “The true nature of the clump is still not clear,” says Takashi Tsukagoshi at the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan and the lead author of the research paper. “It could be a ‘circumplanetary’ disk feeding a Neptune-sized infant planet. Or it might be that swirling gas is raking up the dust particles.” Planets form in disks of gas and dust around young stars. Micrometer-sized dust particles stick together to grow to larger grains, rocks, and finally a planet. Theoretical studies predict that an infant planet is surrounded by a ‘circumplanetary’ disk, a small structure within the larger dust disk around the star. The planet collects material through this circumplanetary disk. It is important to find such a circumplanetary disk to understand the final stage of planet growth. Cold dust and gas in the disks around young stars are difficult to see in visible light, but they emit radio waves. With its high sensitivity and resolution for such radio waves, ALMA is one of the most powerful instruments to study the genesis of planets. However, the brightness and elongated shape of the structure revealed by ALMA don’t exactly match theoretical predictions for circumplanetary disks. It might be a gas vortex, which are also expected to form here and there around a young star. Finding only a single dust clump at this time is also contrary to theoretical studies. So the research team could not reach a definitive answer on the nature of the dusty clump. “Although we do not have a robust conclusion,” says Tsukagoshi. “Pinpointing the exact place of planet formation is highly valuable to us. Next we’ll obtain even higher resolution ALMA images to reveal the temperature distribution in the clump to look for hints of a planet inside. Waktu bilangan Bulan Dalam Al-Quran

Waktu Bilangan bulan Dalam Al-Quran, waktu pada setiap bulan tidak terlepas dari keberadaan dan keterlibatan bulan. Fenomena ini tentu saja sangat berkait dengan matahari yang menjadi sumber cahaya bagi bulan. Al-Quran menjelaskan waktu bulanan dengan ungkapan asy-syarh. Dalam firman Allah;

الشَّهْرُ الْحَرَامُ بِالشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ وَالْحُرُمَاتُ قِصَاصٌ ۚ فَمَنِ اعْتَدَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاعْتَدُوا عَلَيْهِ بِمِثْلِ مَا اعْتَدَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِينَ - 2:194

"Bulan haram dengan bulan haram, dan (terhadap) sesuatu yang dihormati berlaku (hukum) qisas. Oleh sebab itu barangsiapa menyerang kamu, maka seranglah dia setimpal dengan serangannya terhadap kamu. Bertakwalah kepada Allah dan ketahuilah bahwa Allah beserta orang-orang yang bertakwa." (Al-Baqarah/2:194)

Ungkapan serupa disebutkan pula dalam Surah Al-Baqarah/2:185 dan 217; Al-Ma'idah/5:2 dan 97; Saba'/34:12. Adapun tentang jumlah bulan Allah berfirman dalam Al-Qur'an;

إِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِندَ اللَّهِ اثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْرًا فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ مِنْهَا أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ ۚ فَلَا تَظْلِمُوا فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْ ۚ وَقَاتِلُوا الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَافَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ كَافَّةً ۚ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقِينَ - 9:36

"Sesungguhnya jumlah bulan menurut Allah ialah dua belas bulan, (sebagaimana) dalam ketetapan Allah pada waktu Dia menciptakan langit dan bumi, di antaranya ada empat bulan haram. Itulah (ketetapan) agama yang lurus, maka janganlah kamu menzhalimi dirimu dalam (bulan yang empat) itu, dan perangilah kaum musyrikin semuanya sebagaimana mereka pun memerangi kamu semuanya. Dan ketahuilah bahwa Allah beserta orang-orang yang takwa." (At-Tawbah/9:36)

Ayat di atas menjelaskan bahwa jumlah bulan dalam satu tahun adalah 12 bulan. Satu bulan terdiri dari 29 atau 30 hari sebagaimana dijelaskan dalam sebuah hadis. Satu hari dihitung dengan dimulainya terbitnya matahari dari ufuk timur dan tenggelam di ufuk barat. Bulan  hijriah terdiri dari 12 bulan. Awal bulan qamari dimulai dari munculnya bulan sabit dan diakhiri dengan tenggelamnya bulan sabit. Orang arab pada masa Jahiliah telah memberikan nama pada setiap bulan disesuaikan peristiwa terjadi di bulan.

Waktu bilangan Bulan Dalam Al-Quran

Waktu bilangan bulan dalam A-Qur'an di bagi menjadi 12. berikut adalah nama bulan dalam al-qu'an ;

Muharram (Muharam) atau bulan Asyura. Dinamakan demikian karena bulan ini dimuliakan dan diharamkan. Mereka mengaharamkan mengorbankan peperangan di bulan ini.

Safar (Safar) atau kosong karena orang Arab pergi untuk melakukan peperangan sehingga negeri mereka kosong. Berarti mereka menjadikan musuh-musuh meninggalkan barang miliknya sehingga tangan mereka menjadi kosong dari harta benda. Nama bulan ini bisa terambil dari nama daerah tempat peperangan yang bernama Safriyah.

Rabi'ul-Awwal (Rabi'ilawal) bermakna musim semi pertama, masa di mana rumput mulai tumbuh.

Rabi'ul-Akhir (Rabiulakhir) bermakna musim semi kedua.

Jumadil-Ula (Jumadilawal), di masa lalu bulan ini dinamakan Jumada Khamsah. Dinamakan demikian karena masa di mana pada saat pemberian nama negeri mereka berada pada masa musim dingin sehingga air menjadi beku.

Jumadil-Akhirah (Jumadilakhir) bermakna musim dingin kedua. Dimasa lalu orang Arab Jahiliah menamakannnya dengan Jumada Sittah.

Rajab (Rajab) berarti mengangunngkan dan memuliakan. Mereka sangat menghormati bulan ini sehingga mereka mengharamkan perang pada bulan ini. Rajab juga bisa berarti berhenti dari peperangan.

Sya'ban (Syakban), dari segi bahasa adalah berpencar. Mereka berpencar untuk mengadakan peperangan setelah pada bulan Rajab  mereka berhenti berperang. Bisa juga karena mereka berpencar untuk mencari air.

Ramadan (Ramadan) dahulu namanya Natiq. Kemudian pada saat penamaan, bulan ini jatu pada musim panas. Kata ar-ramda adalah pasir yang panas karena sengatan matahari.

Syawwal (Syawal) artinya terangkat karena pada musim ini unta betina mengangkat ekornya agar bisa dihubungi oleh pejantan. Bisa juga karena derajat panas matahari makin meningkat, atau juga berarti susu hasil perahan menjadi kering.

Zul-Qa'dah (Zulkaidah) kata qa'ada berati duduk. Disebut demikian karena orang Arab duduk-duduk tidak mau berperang. Mereka mengagungkan bulan ini.

Zul-Hijjah (Zulhijah), dinamakan demikian karena pada bulan ini dilaksanakannya ibadah haji. Orang Arab Jahiliah melakukan haji dengan cara mereka sendiri.

Dari 12 bulan ada empat bulan yang dinamakan bulan haram, yaitu : Zul-Qa'dah , Zul-Hijjah, Muharram, Rajab.

Waktu bilangan Bulan Dalam Al-Quran

Waktu bilangan bulan dalam Al-quran, ada 5 peribadatan dalam islam sangat terkait dengan bulan. Islam menggunakan perhitungan hijriah dlam setiap peribadatannya. Diantaranya adalah:

Puasa, kewajiaban puasa bagi umat islam hanya ada bulan Ramadan selama sebulan (29 hari atau 30 hari) dimulai pada bulan awal Ramadan samapi awal bulan Syawal.

Haji, diwajibkan pada bulan-bulan haji, dimulai bulan Syawal, Zulkaidah, dan Zulhijah.

Zakat, kewajiban zakat harta benda terkait dengan satu tahun masa kepemilikan terhadap harta tersebut. Masa satu tahun dihitung dengan penanggalan hijriah.

Pelaksanaan puasa sunah terkait dengan bulan qamari. ( Puasa Syawal dilaksanakan pada bulan Syawal selama 6 hari. Puasa tanggal 10 Muharram. Puasa hari Arafah, yaitu pada tanggal 9 Zulhijah pada setiap tahun. Puasa pada bulan purnama yaitu tanggal 13, 14 dan 15 pada setiap bulan. puasa pada tanggal hari pertama Zulhijah).

Idah perempuan yang ditinggal mati suami selama 4 bulan qamari dan ditambah 10 hari.

Istri yang disumpah dengan Ila' (suami bersumpah untuk tidak mencapuri istrinya) maka batasannya adlah 4 bulan.

Suami yang menzihar istrinya (mengharamkan istrinya sebagaimana mengharamkan ibunya) kafaratnya adalah berpuasa selama 2 bulan bercampur dengan istrinya.

Kafarat seorang yang membunuh orang lain tanpa sengaja adlah berpuasa selama 2 bulan qamari.

Seorang yang mencampuri istrinya di siang hari bulan Ramadan, kafaratnya adalah berpuasa 2 bulan dengan hitungan bulan qamari.

Pada dasarnnya bulan, satelit alam planet, tidak memiliki cahaya sendiri. Bagian bulan yang terkena cahaya dan menghadap ke arah bumi, akan tampak terang pada waktu malam. Sementara bagian bulan bergerak mengelilingi bumi, dari hari ke hari tempatnya berpindah-pindah. Inilah yang menyebabkan perubahan bentuk-bentuk bulan.

Dimulai dari bulan sabit, setengah lingkaran, bulat sempurna, setengah lingkaran lagi, dan kembali ke bentuk bulan sabit. Bagi umat Islam dekat kawasan ekuator akan menyeksikan siklus fasa bulan tersebut. pada tanggal 2, 3, atau 4 bulan hijriah.
