if you know anything about me you know I am a notorious angst hater and actually avoid it at most costs (especially if I know there’s not going to be a favourable resolution).

HOWEVER, one angst trope I ABSOLUTELY eat up every time is:

“we have to break up because I don’t love you (as much as I thought/ in the way that I thought/ anymore)” but what it actually means is “we have to break up because some external force is going to hurt you (or your feelings or us) and I will NEVER let you get hurt in that way if stifling my own feelings is the solution to you being safe. I will repress and remove and destroy myself as long as you are okay.”
