Poem of the Day
I Love You, But Go the Hell to Sleep
By: A. M. Paulson
It’s one in the morning
I’m really tired
And need to sleep.
But my sweet little one
You stay awake.
Making so noise
The walls do shake.
So now I say
Little one
I love you
But go the hell to sleep.
Tomorrow
I need to go to work
To earn money
To keep life sunny.
Can’t work well
When exhausted.
So my little one
I love you
But go the hell to sleep.

Poem of the Day
I’m Back!
By: A. M. Paulson
Been too sick to write
Due to illness and stress.
Not fully better
Cause there is still
Loads of stress.
But…
I’m back!
Time to write
Time to once more
Try to pass myself off as
A poet that is not a poet.

Must Write
By: A. M. Paulson
I wake up
In middle of the night
With an urge
I got to purge.
Creativity is surging
Need to get a pen and start writing.
Must write
Gotta write
Can’t sleep until all gone.
Pen is moving
Ink is flowing
Word are coming
Might turn into something
Or be nothing.
All I know is
That I…
Must write
Gotta write
Can’t sleep until it’s done.

Keep Stitching
By: A. M. Paulson
To sew a thousand masks
Seems like one of the more pointless tasks
Yet that is my goal.
Now facemasks and covering
Are needed to prevent more suffering.
I plan to give them all away.
Now is the time for humanity to come together
And not allow hatred to sever.
We must keep each other happy and safe.
So I will keep stitching
Toward my goal I will keep going
For there is not much else I can do.

My Old Puppy
By: A. M. Paulson
When I was a younger
Older than a child
But not yet and adult,
I went looking for a puppy.
Preferably one very fluffy
I found that puppy
A mutt
Who was a tiny runt.
Years past
She got big.
Always by my side
For times
Both good and bad.
We shared joy
When I was glad.
She cheered me up
When I was sad.
She is now old
Way older
Than many dogs
I’ve met.
When she passes
It will hurt.
For I will
Always see her
As a puppy
Who was tiny
Who was fluffy.
She is
My old puppy.

Eye of the Hurricane
By: A. M. Paulson
Here I stand
In the eye of the hurricane.
Taking a breather
During the storm.
Knowing it will get worse
Before things get better.
Before I need to take shelter once again,
I inhale the stillness and calm
I absorb the silence
I try to ignore the destruction
For there will be more soon.

Like a creeping vine
A nightmare can choke the joy
From sleeping children.

Too Much Noise
By: A. M. Paulson
My brain throbs
As the sirens blare.
The pain grows
As vacuum cleaners roar.
The pain become unbearable
As car alarms blare.
There is too much noise…
I cannot run away
Nor can I hide.
I curl up in a fetal ball
And wait for it to pass.
But there is so much noise
I may never escape.

A Bit of Silliness
By: A. M. Paulson
Feeling down?
Got a frown?
I know just what you need.
Now take heed…
Many monkeys
Juggling canaries
While on one leg balancing
On a giant onion ring.
There’s your bit of silliness
To help life be less hideous.

Submitted
By: A. M. Paulson
Well I sent it…
A piece of my creativity
Sent to strangers
Who don’t know me.
I don’t know
If they will like it
Or reject it.
Still I submitted…
Now I just wait.

Why Can’t We Dance?
By: A. M. Paulson
I hear elders say
Dancing just for children.
Adults need to think
Of more important matters.
I hear other elders say
Dancing leads to sin
So no one is allowed
Or the world ends.
Elders why
Why can’t we dance?
Why is dancing bad?
How can it hurt anyone?
You have no answer?
I’ll give you another chance.
Why can’t we dance?
Still silent…
Then the rest of us
Will just refuse to listen
And dance.

Running Out of Time
By: A. M. Paulson
Only a few more weeks
Until the aid
So many like me need
Disappears like the morning dew.
Running out of time…
Won’t be able to keep paying for
Rent,
Bills,
Food,
Gas,
Clothes,
Etc.
Running out of time
So trying to save
The little not used.
Unemployed due to others foolishness
Soon to be left adrift
By the same fools…
Please vote this November
So we can repay them in kind.
They need to know
What it feels like
To be
Running out of time.

The Heart
By: A. M. Paulson
It’s just a muscle.
Without it we cannot live
For the body needs the flow of blood.
What does it have to do with love?
It releases no chemicals,
It doesn’t affect the brain,
It has nothing to do with mating.
The heart just pumps faster
When one feels attraction or arousal.
But it does the same
When one feels scared or excited.
Who decided the heart
Has anything to do with love?
Human will never really know,
But it is fun to think it so.

Art It Out
By: A. M. Paulson
Oh God….
Just…just…oh God
There are people who really believe this?
There are people who post this?
There are people who share this?
So…so…much hate
So much bile
Typed on a screen.
I’m so angry…
I can’t rid the net of this.
Can’t forget it.
Need to fight.
Grab paper,
Grab pen,
Grab brushes,
Grab paint,
Grab needle,
Grab thread,
Must get rid of the hate.
Make art
To use as sword and shield.
Make art
To fight evil ideas
Make art
To kill bigotry.
Make art
To rally others.
Make art
To start a revolution.
United
We can art it out!
