What ideas do you have for Cynthia? Is she plus-sized like Red?
this ask single handedly made me realize despite the hundreds of hours i spent with Sinnoh through my youth, i have absolutely Zero ideas for the entirety of Sinnoh,, oops?
Tumblr media
i quickly doodled a Cynthia for you anon because i forgot how awesome and cool of a character she is.
in a roundabout way, yeah, kinda actually! but more or less in a way that i always think Cynthia is a bit more broad, if that makes any sense. in a few ways she kinda reminds me of my mom LMAO? so i think she’s a bit on the shorter side, but not super short, and generally has a more broad or wide body type. think like.. very broad shoulders.
this is all because she is an archeologist in some capacity (my mom is also an archeologist and is very self conscious about her “masculine broad shoulders”, so i gave Cynthia her body type because, to me, there’s nothing to be self conscious about that, i think it’s awesome.)
because Cynthia is this archeologist type character who is pretty active in the community and travels the region a lot (for a long time too), she’s pretty muscular. it’s hard for me to describe in words but broad and muscular just makes sense to me for her. of course she’s still going to embrace her femininity, but she can be big with muscle too as a treat. why not, she can do whatever she wants at this point.
my Red design was heavily inspired by a handful of other users across a bunch of other platforms (one of them being i think soulsilvers here on Tumblr, i think that’s their user). but i just think it’s really nice tbh.. my design for him is similar but different in the sense that it was way more obvious that he spent a long time on a mountain alone.
but that’s all besides the point. i spend a lot of emotional time with Kanto and Johto, i should really indulge in Sinnoh and Unova more, maybe one day soon. when i come up with more silly stuff for Cynthia i will get back to you Anon because she’s an awesome character

12 YEAR OLD OCS; SIDE A
Tumblr media Tumblr media
hạt dẻ hạt phỉ [@tboyblogger] (she/her sister, he/him for brother)
theyre a pair of twin beasts, middle schoolers! i have no idea who is hazelnut and who is chestnut i kept calling them both names like that, theyre they/them in the way there are always two kids. these kids are beasts(?) that look like human but with magic and animal ears and tails. theyre adopted by a desi family of wizards so they do witchy spellcasting stuff. their names are in vietnamese cause. well im viet, and theyre kind of a ripoff of a vietnamese early 2000s tv show about a family of wizards (LOL) coming to the human world and try to blend in, except mine is just about the family trying to take care of these two beasts and the shenanigans revolve around them! if i were to continue writing them now i'd probably do the sitcom format, something like old d*sney channel series like wizard of waverly place (wait i think i also stole from this LMAO) or good luck charlie where the focus is on the interpersonal relationships of everyone in the family and how they are to the kids, growing as they learn to take care of them? idk. but this was 2012, i was 12, so i ripped from cardcaptor sakura and ben10 and pokémon or other similar video games to make them into mahou-kodomo shounen protags going around different worlds capturing creatures-of-the-week but theyre all in the back of my head now </3 vote for them if you like little animal freaks that would crawl on the floor chewing furniture and bite each other then cry to mom
Excavator [@enjoliquej] (he/him)
Behold, a mere mortal man, born with the name Excavator, destined to become part of one of the most fantastical endeavors known to man: Archeological Excavation.  Being gifted with a genius and brilliant name as Excavator, and having a career that shared the same name gave him some trouble with introductions.
A bold and thoughtful quote from our hero:
"My name is Excavator, and I am an excavator."  --  Excavator
Follow Excavator, the world's WORST and luckiest archeologist as he embarks across the world to different locations that his 12 year old writer was learning about in history class. Watch as his boss constantly fires and re-hires him on account of Excavator's stupidity and luck at finding rare artifacts. Embark on his first adventure when he accidentally hurled himself into a tar pit from clowning around and found the Rosetta Stone buried deep beneath. Join him on his trip to China where he gets thrown into a basket and is forced to float the Pacific Ocean for days until he discovers ancient Chinese scrolls hidden in the basket with him, narrowly escaping being fired by his boss yet again. Follow him to India where he believes he traveled to the 1800s and is mistaken for a butler and cleans precious furniture with bleach which ruins everything until he realizes he was just staying at some guys house the whole time and he didn't time travel to the 1800s.
All this and more on The Silly Adventures of Excavator, The Indiana Jones Wannabe!

sorry for the continuous volo posting it's never gonna stop I miss him he was awesome
okay so I brainstormed up some ideas for if he's in the indigo disk dlc.... it's a LOT so it's gonna be under read more !! :]
okay so firstly. His disguise name. I haven't like chosen one I super duper like but I found a cool one !!
Dolion, which means deceitful, treacherous, and crafty!! One of the things it translates to is "to lie" so I think it'd fit a lot for him...
He'd be an explorer, maybe archeologist ?? which would account for the fact he has "weird pokemon"
His first team would be:
Sigilyph
Galarian Yamask
Spiritomb
[... I don't remember if these pokemon would be in the dlc so if they aren't I WILL make adjustments I'm just assuming they will be. Also lvls/movesets will depend on the lvls in the dlc too]
[just imagine he has like. Ancient-seeming, weirdo pokemon y'know??????]
Second battle would be:
Sigilyph
Runerigus
Spiritomb
Then later on, when he reveals who he is/you learn who he is his team is a little more similar to his old team!
He got access to terastylization somehow, he wanted it and got it -- maybe he stole it from someone??? maybe YOU
Final battle:
Togekiss (his signature Pokémon) [tera flying?]
Garchomp [tera fairy maybe, fuck you up lol]
Hisuian Arcanine
Spiritomb
Milotic
[Either Roserade, Lucario, Hisuian Braviary, maybe normal Braviary, or Metagross as a final choice]
Could substitute Spiritomb for Flutter Mane/Iron Jugulis depending on game
Also maybe it could have it so if you have Hisuian Pokemon on your team [example, my H.Zoroark that beat his ass in Legends lmfao] he has a special reaction !! that would be cool!!!
like... "You... You remind me of someone."
Also his theme IS playing in the background and there will be more Legends Arceus music and jingles because that's an awesome way to give all the players a heart attack /silly
So like what he's wearing...
So most of the game when he's disguised he has this cool like... Archeology outfit, and his main motive for being there is "exploring the habitat" and stuff because it's all man-made and there's cool pokemon
He's hiding either his hair or his entire face maybe he has a mask idk but he is like genuinely disguising himself
Near the end when he reveals himself/you figure him out he unhides his face/hair and he looks so fucked up he probably has scars and his hair is like still dyed in the back and kinda everywhere he looks cool
yeah those r my ideas I'm so normal abt volo

yap sesh about the best game to ever exist on Roblox: pokemon brick bronze
okay so. as a child without access to a 3ds and an unhealthy obsession with Pokémon, my only available options were listening to my 2 friends (only one of which actually had a 3ds) talk about Pokémon and role play and stuff. whatever. but ROBLOX!!! hell yeah. brick bronze was built to be an actual, fully developed Pokémon game, FOR FREE (with slight exceptions for game passes such as shiny/legendary hunting boosts). Even with these things that cost money (or robux, whatever) they didn’t actually impact the game that much. Shinies have no difference to their normal counterpart other than color, and they can of course be hunted with normal methods at standard odds. Legendaries had incredibly small chances to appear in any wild encounter, usually only after being "released" by completing a puzzle related to them. However, these puzzles very rarely ended without an encounter — you usually got one guaranteed shot at catching the pokemon, which you could save before hand to get as many chances as you'd need. Point being that the game is 100% enjoyable without spending a cent. (Don't talk to me about Ash Greninja.)
When it comes to the plot and story, perhaps my vision is blurred by the past and being a naive child, but it was amazing. You're a child of two archeologists who seal off a tunnel due to dangers, but that's not too important. You and your best friend Jake embark on your very own pokemon adventure: you are allowed to pick any starter from generations 1-7, and Jake always ends with an Eevee (Bastard - I wanted an Eevee). Before you leave the lab, your parents give you a parting gift: A Bronze Brick, attached to a necklace, for good luck. After leaving town, you’re almost immediately called back, with news that your parents have been kidnapped by the evil Team Eclipse. Cypress, the Pokémon professor, advises you to take the Bronze Brick to one of his associates in the next town over, to see what the last thing your parents left you was. You do, but the girl reveals herself to be a member of Team Eclipse, and runs off with the brick. You chase her down and get it back. Fast forward a while; you run into some more Team Eclipse shenanigans in the cities of gym 2 and gym 3; they’re trying to harness Groudon and Kyogre. You shut those two plots down, and meet the other rival: Tessa. The plots great, but I’m bored now.
The most interesting things are the small side things you can do: there isn’t a quest system in game, but there’s always little things slightly off the beaten path that you can find by exploring buildings and talking to NPCs. Chief among these are Legendary and Mythical encounters. Many, many legendary Pokémon are sprinkled throughout the world, for those brave enough to find them (or those smart enough to open the Wiki). Three legendary Pokémon live in one volcano: Groudon, who is encountered
Forgot I had this draft laying around. You guys can have it. I’ll do more PBB ramblings later

So team options for Sada for the AI!Clavell au :
So Kabutops in I'm each mainly because the image of Sada having a Kabuto that requires cuddles during a thunderstorm like that comic of the roomba needing comfort is hilarious, especially if it continues after it evolves. Turo just walking in to ask a question only to find Kabutops on her lap trembling while Sada acts like this is normal-
Same for Volcarona- It's her baby!
I picture Sada as coming from a region where Unown live, so Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh. Mainly Johto, so I can say she grew up by the Ruins of Alph. I see her father as an archeologist and her mother a linguist studying Unown to find their link to language and the written word (which came first- Unown or letters?) So that's why one team has an Unown.
Houndoom is actually Clavell's (thank you @zomandfriends for the idea!). Before entering the Crater, they traded Pokémon, Sada getting Houndoom to care for until he gets back. Houndoom, being an old doggo, misses Clavell but was doing okay until four years ago when suddenly they became depressed and spends a lot of time sleeping. Sada is of course worried, and when Mabosstiff is injured, the pair of dogs (who are already friends) sleep together a lot.
Donphan is actually Turo's that she renames. If I decide that Turo is dead or disappeared instead of leaving her, then she ends up with his beloved Donphan that carries around his Violet Book.
Zoroark is there bc why not :3 Also that if past forms were discovered to still exist she'd totally have one lol

Yes this AU based on @k-chips beautiful art of AI Clavell.

Clover was hanging out around the sky pillar, she had arrived to do some exploring however currently she was just checking her notes about the place from asking the locals around the region. And as she was reading she couldn't help but wonder what type of discoveries she might find, that is if archeologists or other mythologists hadn't removed anything from the sky pillar and she did know it was a likely possibility. She was also rather excited as exploring sky pillar would give her a chance to study the Pokémon that live within the massive ruined tower as well as how the species adapt the higher up the tower they lived as well. "If my knowledge is correct, lots of dark type pokemon should live in the tower oddly enough, heh, and I personally thought there would be a lot of flying types. Then again I can only assume something happened during ancient times in Hoenn that caused the tower to become abandoned." She would say to herself as she was steeling herself up to enter into the tower.
"Dark types? Well, that's a shame!"
A voice came from behind her, nearly directly behind her, interrupted her.
He wore a heavy black coat, and a blur backpack. His golden hair was tied up in a bun behind his head, save for his bangs, which covered one of his silver eyes.

H!Sans and H!Papyrus: Skull and Sugar
Today it's Horror! Sans and Papyrus as legendary pokémon! Learn more about their home and the discovery of their fossils here! :)
Now Sans and Papyrus are from this long ancestral line of protector-pokémon, with them being the new generation. However, their family tree seems to be growing some odd branches…
You see, no one has realized that some of the excavated fossils actually belonged to the ancient ancestors of the legendary guardians! Not only that, but these two truly were pokémon of legend, having protected people during the cave-in of the underground and unfortunately having met their end doing so.   The names and legacies of these pokémon are unfortunately lost to time, but recently, a group of scientists has requested temporary access to the fossils for more accurate time dating, cross referencing their database with their DNA in order to determine their species, and collecting data on the fossils with equipment the museum doesn't have. You know, normal nerd stuff scientific proceedings.
What they didn't tell the museum staff however, is that these fossils would be part of a new fossil revival program. You see, when a fossil has lethal physical damage they can't be revived using the normal method as the damage would be perfectly recreated and would kill the poor pokémon a second time. Therefore, an experimental method was used: a mix of cloning and the revival procedure used for other fossils. And to their credit: it worked!
However, the panic of waking up in a place that looks like nothing you’ve ever seen before, combined with your last vague but pressing memory being the panic of a crumbling cave system and the urgency of mass evacuation, meant that Skull immediately broke out of containment, broke everyone else out of containment and then rounded everyone up for evacuation outside. Once everyone was accounted for they took off, and instinctively the guardians found the place their species once called home: Mount Ebott. The group burst in from the top and hasn't left since.
Skull has trouble speaking fluently and has a somewhat slower perception, and the hole in his skull is,,, well, it's in a weird state, obviously. It's not healed (it CAN’T be healed), but it's not an open wound he could die from due to the revival process. He clearly has some memory problems due to both the revival process and the wound, and he needs to be stopped from scratching at it often, as it seems to be a subconscious move.    The distress from it gradually lessens as he settles into his new environment: he has his brother by his side, and though his memories are few and confusing they are still a great comfort to him. It does however influence his ability to transform: where Sans and Papyrus can use their magic to mimic pokémon and humans near perfectly, Skull does not have stable control of his magic due to the wound, resulting in skeletal versions of whatever he's trying to mimic. It's... an adjustment, for sure. Luckily the pokémon instinctively trust him a bit, so he won them over despite everything. Speaking of which:   Skull loves observing humans and pokémon as much as the others of his species, and although he misses the abundance/presence of people and the holidays, he gets fulfillment out of observing and interacting with the ghost pokémon (who seem to recognise him somehow?) and the new species that migrated into the mountain after the incident. They are just as curious about him as he is about them, and his gentle giant demeanor is immediately rewarded by lots of attention from the younger pokémon.
Sugar used to help set up celebrations with everyone. Therefore, he knows the place like the back of his hand!! Or rather knew. Where Skull sometimes has trouble remembering the past, Sugar has trouble not remembering it. He keeps feeling like something should be right here only to find the spot empty or unreachable. He could be of great help to archeologists, but it is very confusing for him. Due to both this and his somewhat poor eyesight, the pokémon surrounding him help him navigate and are very supportive.   They tried to help him recreate some of the older celebrations, but it just isn’t the same without human aid. They all got an A+ for effort though! Which means handmade festival treats for everyone! He knows recipes long gone, but he can't always get every ingredient. What he does manage to make (sometimes with help, as his body does not always do what he wants) is loved by most, except for the bitter medicines he sometimes ends up making.   Sugar can regulate his magic much better than Skull can but he, too, has some wonkiness to his transformations. Namely, his form seems just a little stretched, and if you look closely, you can make out some crystal formations on the left side of whatever creature he’s decided to become. As he practices the transformations more it becomes subtle like glitter, but it definitely is still there. Despite all of this, he actually tends to use a skeletal form as well, in solidarity to his brother. “Look, we match!”  Their memories are hazy, but they definitely remember evacuating everyone from the mountain as it rumbled around them. Any movement in the rocks sets them on edge, and they check the walls for cracks whenever they can. Not finding evidence of current instabilities in the main area combined with the tales of the pokémon currently living there helps to soothe their nerves bit by bit.   Eventually, when they are calmer, they start recalling earlier, far calmer memories: bouts of laughter between siblings, the pride of the youngins who pass their trials, the kindness of a flower handed to them in good faith. And also the rougher, but necessary things: Tussling with each other, mending wounds with bitter recipes, distracting upset children with stories. The rush of fighting off alpha pokémon who encroach on their territory. Sleeping the tiredness off in a warm corner of the temple.   The brothers are quite content now, living with each other and the next generation of pokémon in their glowing mountain. Life is good.

Hello, I am Nora, a archeologist trying to learn the secrets of the past, in particular, the creation of man-made Pokémon.
My first three Pokémon are all ones caught during my time learning the basic of archeology, while the last three were all caught on my own.
I originate from Hoenn, but I travel around the land looking through and for ruins.
______________________________________________________________
OOC Info below
My main account is @viyellasdream and decided it may be fun to create a roleplay account. This is my first time doing roleplay, so please be kind, and say if I do ill.
Anything goes with the exception of nsfw, although I may add more boundaries as I learn.
Do be aware this character is not a good person. She is generally grating and always wants to be correct at best, and at worst a tad sadistic, cruel, and controlling.
If you're curious, the Pokémon Brail on my Icon means Nora, found at the top, and Seeker Of Myth. found on the bottom-left
I was inspired by @poisoned-sugar11 to make this, in particular kelp's @hoppip-haven

Trainer Profile: Tauro
One of Hyrule’s foremost experts on the ancient Zonai civilization; Tauro is a talented archeologist, and a gifted linguist. He often gets so absorbed in his work that he forgets to eat or sleep. Fortunately, Tauro can count on his faithful Golurk, Lucky, to remind him when it’s time to take a break.
“It was my very first archeological expedition, to an ancient factory in the Lanayru Sand Sea.
Now the first rule of any expedition is to always stick with your buddy. Always bring at least one person or pokémon with you; never, ever go into the ruins alone.
But I was young, and overcome with excitement. So while the others set up our base camp, I snuck off to explore. I was just going to take a peek, no harm in that…
Well, first I got lost. Then, I tripped and broke my leg.
I couldn’t stand, much less walk.
I truly believed that I was going to die there.
But then, a wild Golurk found me; picked me up like a baby, and carried me safely back to camp.
It really was my Lucky day.”

I gotta say, I do applaud Pokémon XD for how like… playable it is? Okay— that sounds weird, but I mean it in terms of like, I got that game loooooong before I ever even got the hint that there was a predecessor to the game, and I remember the ‘Michael’s dad passed away 5 years ago’ plot point and it, amongst the other plot point of ‘the last time Cipher was up to no good,’ I just thought it was like, just more world building stuff (I didn’t really put much thinking into stuff back in the day lol). And I remember being so curious about what was behind the door with the ❌ on it at the top of the ONBS building and what happened to warrant that, so when I finally did put 2 and 2 together, getting to explore behind that door was so super awesome!
I totally know what you mean :D
Beginning backwards is a totally valid way to enter a world's story, in my opinion. That natural curiosity that builds as new details rise before realizing there's a whole other part of the story. I think it's a pretty underrated way to get into a saga honestly. "How did this happen? Why are things like this? Were they always that way?" questions that prompt you to want to explore the past like you're some archeologist or historian.
I remember my first Halo game was Halo 3 and I had no prior knowledge of the story so when I did the single player I just had to imagine what the story up to this point had to be based on what they referenced, but that incomplete telling of the story so far really makes you want to play the prior games if you like the game you're playing right now. Another example is the fractured story telling and jump between Kingdom Hearts I and KH II that confused me as much as it fascinated me to think about. It's an underrated feeling. My brother right now playing Zelda ToTK is curious to know what happened in BoTW now.
The way Colosseum disguised itself as yet another battle simulator must've made this feeling happen to more people like you who started with XD than we think. It's funny to think about.

Another random headcanon because I have officially fallen into Sada and Turo simping hell: Sometime after the events of the game, Arven finds and reconnects with the parent who walked out after he was born (Turo in Scarlet, Sada in Violet). It’s awkward for both of them at first, with Arven being subject to Turo’s rambles about technology (I hc Turo to be a bioengineer in Scarlet’s universe with a focus on creating prosthetics for both humans and Pokémon) or Sada’s frequent foul language (she’s an archeologist in Violet). But he gets used to it. Eventually.
Sada/Turo understandably don’t know how to be a parent at first as they haven’t had another person rely on them in that way for years. Sada nearly sets the house on fire trying to make Arven a sandwich, while Turo accidentally gives the poor boy a black eye by hitting him in the face with a ball during a game of “catch” (Turo had googled “how to bond with your kid after being a deadbeat their entire life” and playing catch was the top result). So yeah, they’re both disasters in their own way, but Arceus damn it they’re trying.

More pokemon trainer with aesthetics to feed the fandom! Imagine that this Yuu is a Pokémon Professor (perhaps a Pokémon Professor from the Galar region) who studies ancient pokémon that have been restored and in addition to forming Yuu's team for a few matches from time to time, the pokémon live in a special sanctuary to attend to all the needs of restored fossil Pokémon.
Some have pretty scary pokédex entries or apperance, but they're a bunch of cuddle bugs.
There are several restored fossil Pokémon that are under the care of Professor Yuu, but the ones that make up Yuu's competition team are: Tyrantum (one of those in the cuddle bug squad), Rampardos (another cuddle bug), Carracosta (and another cuddle bug), Aurorus (the cuddly big baby of the cuddle bug squad), Archeops (the chaotic cuddle bug) and of course the leader of the cuddle bug squad, Aerodactyl who can mega evolve (and who is a platonic simp for Professor Yuu and if you want dating them needs cuddle bug squad leader approval, well all ancient pokémon's approval first then from this ancient pokémon).
And their aesthetic is not something "old" and sloppy, at least something with a slightly vintage or wilder style (with clothes with pokemon patterns and almost Tarzan style) or at least an archeologist wearing accessories that are replicas of pokémon fangs or fossils or some tribal accessory style like Kahuna Olivia from Alola.
I LOVE CARRACOSTA ITS ONE OF MY FAV FOSSIL POKEMON HDJKWASBCKJSABKCHSBDKJHVJDSBBJCJKSDNX
also
i'm getting ideas for designs for the entire family and while i was thinking
what if professor yuu was like, yuurei's parent :D?
like, everyone needs a stable parental unit and prof.yuu, yuurei's parent, is like, top parental material fjnejknjksnc
i can totally see prof.yuu's design being a mix between Kahuna Olivia and Prof.Sada tbh

This might be a bit triggering, but a ficlet for a F!Delphox with a transfem!trainer!reader who was basically disowned for being trans.
( fluff and angst)
It isn’t triggering for me, don’t worry. Just your average cis person here. But being cis, I did try to make this accurate since the only real transfem person I know is a friend of mine since middle school. Anyways, this blog says trans rights!
(If your familiar with my main blog, you’d know this isn’t my first time with this type of title shenanigans)
Also: major trigger warning for transphobia! Reader’s parents in this are major a-holes to her and say some majorly transphobic things in the beginning. If transphobia triggers you, I’d suggest skipping this request!
When All is Lost… Then All is Found(platonic fem!delphox and her transfem!trainer!reader with shithead transphobic parents)
“You know, when future archeologists and their pokemon find your body, they’re going to identify you as male.”
“Your gender is defined by your chromosomes, you're a boy.”
“What are you talking about? We don’t have a daughter, we only have a son.”
You ran to your room crying. They were supposed to be your parents, they’re supposed to love you no matter what. But now, they’ve all but disowned you because you came out to them as trans.
Your delphox quickly came over to comfort you and pointed her wand at the door in case whoever had hurt you decided to enter your safe space.
“It’s ok, they’re not coming in here, they don’t love me enough anyway,” you told your delphox.
That’s when she had an idea. Delphox quickly opened the door after wiping away your tears and ran into your parents’ room. You saw her stuffing something up her sleeve as she sneaked out the front door.
She came back an hour later and put whatever she stole back where she found it and came into your room using her wand to bring in bags from multiple clothing stores and jewelry shops. Delphox carefully placed the bags down in front of you and was almost ripping what she bought out of the bags to show you what she got.
You pet your Pokémon on the head and carefully take out something from the bag. It was a skater dress in your favorite color with floral patterns. Looking through the bags there was more gender affirming clothes like skirts and shirts that had more feminine patterns on them. She even bought you brackets, necklaces, and clip-on earrings. Delphox pulled out a box from one of her selves and gave it to you. You opened it carefully and took out a small pin with your chosen name on top of a trans pride flag.
You squeezed your pokemon until she rubbed your arm to signal that she couldn’t breath.
“Thank you, this means so much to me. Where did you get the money for all of this?” You asked your delphox.
She nodded her head to your parents’ room and put one of her fingers to her lips, asking you to keep it a secret.
“You didn’t,” you laughed, “you got a plan for how to explain the money disappeared?”
The pokemon tries her best to explain that upon hearing that your parents basically disowned you, the shopkeepers gave her an extremely high discount, or just didn’t charge her at all for what she bought for you in order to make it less suspicious.
You quickly changed into one of the dresses and hugged your delphox again. Even if your parents don’t support you, you now know your pokemon partners will.

hey sky! what's your favorite piece of history about each region?
Hey anon! I'm not really much of a historian, but I do know some things about my home region, having grown up in Nacrene. I learned all sorts of stuff at the museum there when I was a kid.
That said, from a layman's perspective, here's the coolest thing about the history of the regions that show up most often in media. (As much as I love it, this does not include Almia.)
Kanto: Aside from knowing what fossil Pokémon live there, I'm not entirely sure there's a piece of history I'd find cool.
Johto: I really like the story of how Entei, Raikou, and Suicune came to be. I mean that might be a bit predictable, but the idea of Ho-oh giving a second chance at life to Pokémon that passed under unfair circumstances seems really cool to me.
Hoenn: this might be a little counterintuitive, but my favorite part of Hoenn history is the stuff we don't know much about. Yadda yadda Groudon this, Kyogre that, but the elemental titans are what really have my eye. Are they natural? Were they created? If so, who created them? Why were they sealed away? What connection do they have to Regigigas, a Pokémon that was discovered in an entirely different region?
Sinnoh: Now recently some archeologists found some artifacts they claim as part of "Hisui". I've seen a lot of people online talking about it, but fairly few people irl have ever heard of it, the discoveries being so new. So since researchers don't know much, and I especially don't know much, my favorite bit of "history" once again comes from a myth. Uxie, Mespirit, and Azelf essentially creating modern humanity by giving us consciousness is compelling, even if it's a little far-fetched. (No shade onto anyone's beliefs.)
Unova: The Unovan Dragon, obviously. Perfect story of hubris and an easy allegory for hurting people who hurt others with their arguments.
Kalos: The big piece of history that people like to talk about is the war. Well I don't like that, so instead I'll talk about recent history, when Professor Sycamore proved the existence of fairy types.
Alola: Alola is a bit of a mess tbh. At least to an outside observer. A lot of their cooler history is treated like folklore more than concrete fact, and I feel like I'd have to visit for myself to fully understand a lot of it. The Raichu there are adorable, though.
Galar: Okay, the darkest day stuff is neat. Vaguely ominous prophecies of the future are always interesting. It's hard to choose one specific aspect of their history to focus on. I will say my least favorite part though. I've read Galar: A History, and the mere idea that people changed Pokémon into weapons over time makes my blood boil.
Paldea: Okay, this region is essentially all history. I feel like I'd need to take a full class to get even a snippet. Their folk tales are cool, especially the story with the four gifts. If the Pokémon those gifts became are out there, I feel sorry for them, but otherwise it's a nice message against greed.
Is that good?
