Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog - Spaceman Sonic (Screenshots & Review)

What happens with Sonic, Tails, Scratch and Grounder all get lost in space together? Let's find out!

The episode begins with Robotnik bringing Scratch and Grounder to a secret location to show them a big project of his. Tails notices them flying over head and trails them to the inside of a hollowed out mountain, which Robotnik has converted to a rocket silo. He sneakily follows behind him and the badniks and finds out that Robotnik is planning to gather destructicite crystals from an asteroid belt to power his badniks with. As he preparing to send Scratch and Grounder off in the rocket, Tails rushes back to where Sonic was taking a nap to tell him what's happening.

Unfortunately for our heroes, by the time they get back to the rocket silo the ship is already blasting off, so they quickly get inside through a hatch. Once they break the atmosphere, they enter the "Star Light Zone" where the asteroid belt is located. This was an odd interpretation of Star Light Zone from the game (if that's what they were going for) because to me, it always looked like a city on Mobius rather than something in space. Still, there will be a space station showing up later so maybe the idea is that the city is on the station?

Just looking at that ladder makes me feel dizzy...

Anyway, things are going smoothly for the badniks until Grounder bumbles his  way into both breaking the ships controls and shutting down the engines, leaving them all adrift. Scratch and Grounder, at first worried what Robotnik will think, then realize that they're safely far away from him and don't need to worry about running out of oxygen, either. That's cool for them, but a problem for Sonic and Tails, who need that stuff!

Tails is very worried until Sonic shows him through a porthole that there is abandoned space station nearby that the Mobius government shut down because Robotnik stole all their money. That's a neat bit of lore! It is a bit odd that despite being abandoned, it is still powered, but this sort of thing does also happen with some abandoned structures in our own world.

Sonic tricks Scratch and Grounder into going to the cargo bay, and then he and Tails try to fix the ships controls. They have no luck with that, but Sonic finds a way to spin the ship with his speed to get it drifting until it bumps into the side of the space station so they can go inside. The two kids start exploring, and the place is quite big, fully powered with oxygen, and neat looking, too! Scratch and Grounder realize they've been tricked and go to enter the space station as well. Grounder almost falls between the the ship and the station, but Scratch saves him, which is a sweet moment of seeing that Scratch does care about his brother even if the two bicker a lot.

Eventually, Sonic and Tails realize they're being pursued, and while running they eventually find a big purple slime creature who's been hiding out in the ship. The creature (whom I’m going to call “Porp”) is very irritable as they haven't eaten for 13 years, and have been sick as well. Porp is determined to eat Sonic and Tails and starts chasing them around the station.

Who left this bastard skelly in the space station?!

Running from the scary skeleton, Sonic and Tails also find a funky dancing robot...

..and a cool little octopus, which seems to have captivated Tails.

Where’s an Italian plumber when you need one?

That’s no drain clog! It’s Porp!

Eventually, Sonic and Tails find a leftover escape pod which they plan to use for escaping, which gets stolen by Scratch and Grounder, and then stolen again by Porp.

Woah! Did going into space make Tails super strong?

The moment that Scratch and Grounder have been trying to avoid finally happens - Robotnik starts calling. He already knows that their coordinates are showing them to be on a space station and that the ship is drifting off into deep space, and as the two try to explain that they can get home using the escape pod, Robotnik remotely forces Grounder to destroy the escape pod, then Scratch, then himself. What an asshole!

Thankfully, Scratch and Grounder aren't actually dead but just disassembled. When Sonic and Tails stumble upon them and the wreckage of the pod, they reconstruct Scratch and Grounder as part of the pod, which is at-least less horrifying than what Tails did to those dead badniks at that chili dog cafe. By doing so, they make sure they can all get back to Mobius safely, and Sonic tells the two bots that they'll just have to rely on Robotnik to put them back to normal later. They also end bringing along Porp, whom Sonic got to cooperate by telling them they could eat Robotnik when they get back to Mobius! Porp probably doesn't get to eat Robotnik though, because after this episode we see Robotnik is still alive and well. Maybe Porp decided to get burgers instead?

Grounder seems to be having a good time sharing his weird new body with Scratch as they finally make it back home to Mobius. Scratch just looks worried through the whole scene though, poor guy.

In the Sonic Says segment, Porp is shown still feeling sick, so Sonic gives them pointers on how to help themself feel better - drinking lots of fluid, resting and taking it easy. Also, don't sneeze on people because that's rude and nasty!...unless they’re into that, I guess.

This episode was lots of fun! The space setting is cool and the stakes are quite high with both the lovable heroes and lovable "dumb-bots" getting stranded and trying to find a way back to Mobius. It's sweet to see Scratch save Grounder and see that Sonic and Tails decided to save scratch and Grounder too,even if the side benefit was using their parts to fix up the escape pod.

i kinda wanna just say this but you know. this is a blog about yanderes but it's also pretty good to know that for majority of my characters, that's more so just like one of many aspects to their character sprinkled into the mix. i argue there are some whose themes sort of cling around or blend into being purely yandere but at least most, just so happen to be people with tendencies / various ranges of what makes them a yandere.
