Main family’s compound security *sucks* - do you agree?
So. I usually forgive plot holes, I’m not nitpicky. I usually handwave continuity things away, or illogical things, or whatever. I’m here for the pretty boys in overdramatic situations. Reality can go out of the window.
And yet.
And yet.
In Kinnporsche, the main family’s compound is rumoured to be this highly secure place, the pinacle of security for a family that call themselves paranoid; with multiple protocols, high tech, lots of guards on every little corner. They have their own bodyguard twunk factory, guys.
And yet, security *sucks*.
So much. So incredibly much. Glaring sirens in my brain. It actually pulled me out of the story sometimes, my brain like: wtf is this person doing here. Apparently, one can swing by at any time and there is no one at the door, or anything at all. Free pass, everyone.
Ken goes to the minor family house on a semi regular basis. For a place with strict in/out protocols, no one seems suspicious. No cameras detecting his presence in a hallways at times he shouldn’t be there. Nothing. Nope. Nada.
Vegas goes to visit Porsche at the swimming pool. Much has been talked about the absolute unhinged behaviour that both display (re: Porsche grabs the champagne glass from the flat bottom; Vegas takes off his boots and then goes, pants legs and all, into the *water*). But no, what worries me is the following series of events:
1. the dangerous, psychotic, murderous cousin of the family just swings by, late at night, and uninvited. No one detects him. No one stops him.
2. Goes by the pantry, steals a champagne bottle. No one detects him. No one stops hims.
3. Goes to the place where they keep all the nice glasses, plates, spoons, forks and *knives*. Grabs a couple of delicate glasses. No one detects him. No one stops him.
4. Walks around the entire compound looking for Porsche. Presumably passes by the bodyguard sleeping quarters. Finally goes into the training swimming pool. No one detects him. No one stops him.
5. Finally sees Porsche, a bodyguard, someone that is supposed to ensure security. Porsche, instead of doing something logical, like “wtf are you doing here, I’m informing Chan”, proceeds to drink champagne instead. Porsche doesn’t even remark on the pants on the water thing. Both are crazy and enable each other in their unhinged behaviour.
6. 100% sure Vegas leaves the champagne bottle right there, for the cleaning staff. No one reports it to anyone when they clean the pool the following morning. He leaves also a trail of water that reeks of chlorine in his way out. No one hears the splorch splorsch splorch as he leaves. No one detects him. No one stops him.
7. No one checks the cameras, either, apparently.
Pete comes back from his “holidays” in Vegas’ den of iniquity. A man, who is supposed to be dead, is clad in dirty, bloody clothing, and looks like several garbage trucks ran him over, goes inside the compound unseen and unstopped. Passes by the entrance unseen and unstopped. Goes into the family garden unseen and unstopped. The garden, where, I may add, the two oldest sons of the family are currently standing. The bodyguards reaction upon seeing him is to cry from happiness.
Also, i’m not in the mafia. But if my head bodyguard with access to highly sensitive info disappears for weeks when he’s going to the enemy’s lair, comes back with clear signs of torture , and tells me a bold lie like he’s gone to see his grandma, I would not be taking him out for drinks, I would be extracting what kind of info he gave our enemies.
Look, I’m sure there are more examples, but these literally made me go: these people really need a security consultant.
Opinions, please?

Ep 10 KimChay: A Dark vs Light continuation
Most of the thoughts in this post are going to stem from my Dark vs Light post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The first KimChay shot: A blend of lighter and darker clothing, colder and warmer light. Perfect combination, the coming together of two worlds.
The exchange of tones [Kim in the lighter-toned, Chay in the darker-toned] could symbolise they’ve opened up to one another but it could also be another meaning. Chay being in darker clothes matches Kim’s worries that he could drag him into a darker world/bring darkness to his bright life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He looks at his hand that just pet Chay’s head questioning whether he’s allowed to do that, should he be doing that, can he exist in this lighter world. Is he allowed this brightness (happiness, joy, someone who genuinely loves him)? What if he taints it because he didn’t start out from pure thoughts? I think these worries are why he held back from saying "I love you too". He might be falling in love, but he's not there completely as he's still got things to figure out.
White shirt, warm lighting. A completely unseen shot of Kim, he's never had this combination before. It’s unfamiliar. Completely enveloped in this brighter, foreign world he’s forced to confront what he’s done wrong. He couldn’t say I love you back to Chay because it wouldn’t be pure, like the things he thinks belong in Chay’s world/ the pure things that exist in Chay’s world. Now that maybe he’s started to fall in love with Chay he realises he feels out of place, he realises the darkness that he could bring into Chay’s life and that’s actually a problem now (that wasn’t before) because he’s started to genuinely care for him. He probably intended to run away temporarily to figure things out alone again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fighting in white. The fight comes from the darker world [shadow] whilst he's currently in the light world [light clothing] and he ultimately fails to protect Chay while in the lighter world. He can't protect Chay in the light.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The realisation sets in that Chay is missing. A shadowed, dimmer world without Chay. I said Kim kissed Chay last episode because he didn't want to lose him from his life. But now his source of light has gone. Chay has been taken from his life forcefully so he willingly takes a step further into the dark world by calling Kinn if it means he gets him back by his side.
Tumblr media
All black. He couldn't protect Chay while in the lighter world [light clothing] so he completely embraces the darkness, fully embodying his mafia self [darker clothing] to protect Chay.
It’s not that he didn’t love Chay in the earlier scene, it’s that he couldn’t bring himself to say it, he doesn’t know if he deserves it and he was still figuring things out. I think Chay being kidnapped forced him to realise some things though. His actions here speak louder than words (typical Theerapanyakul style). He willingly re-entered the darker world that he was trying to avoid just for Chay.
Tumblr media
Both in dark clothing, together in the dark world.
I'm unsure of what I think of this one so I'll just say all of my thoughts:
This could show that Kim's ready to accept things and exist with Chay in any world regardless but it could signify many things.
Maybe it's showing Chay's realisation that life is not as bright and full of joy [light and warmth] as he thought, the shattering of his naivety/pure love and mind now that he's forced to confront some truths held in the darkness.
It could also signify troubles to come. The reality that maybe Kim can’t escape the life into Chay’s light world. He might end up bringing Chay into the darkness instead (and consequently into danger). This time it’s Porsche but it could easily have been himself.
We might be seeing the beginnings of an "if you love him let him go" process that may develop in the future, where Kim lets Chay go in order to preserve his brightness and purity/send him back into the brightness and safety.

Read Previous Chapter Here

“How was it?” he’d asked.
“It was alright,” he said, knowing that it was mind-blowing. But Vegas didn’t need to know that.
Tumblr media
Vegas turned to him, a frown on his face. His pride was hurt. He was confused. He’d expected rave reviews. He was probably used to getting anything he wanted after he’d fucked people’s brains into oblivion. He also, probably didn’t expect Pete to be this coherent, moments after sex. Maybe he always gave it so good that his partners had to sleep off the fatigue before a sensible conversation could be had.

CHAPTER EIGHT
--
Pete never met Daye. Even though their interactions were by burner phone, Pete was always within eyesight of the broken, tarred wall he'd chosen for Daye. It was for a simple job. Daye just had to get in and get out. As per the agreement, Daye would find his payment stuck in the wall when it was all over.
Pete needed a moment alone in Vegas’ room but he couldn’t get into that room anytime he wanted. Vegas was a Theerapanyakul. Having worked with Kinn for years, Pete knew that he moved with unseen bodyguards. The bodyguards didn’t approach and they didn’t engage, unless there was danger or some reason to speak to Kinn in person. It took Pete almost a year before he realized that Kinn had shadows who moved when he moved.
He couldn’t take the chance of Vegas living the same way. If he went skulking around that room when Vegas wasn’t there, his cover would be blown. Therefore, he had to be in the room when Vegas went out of the room, leaving Pete alone.
That day, after his plans had been set in motion, Pete spent dinner at the table with Porsche, Time and Tem. He knew Vegas was watching. It was shocking how easily Vegas was drawn to Pete. Pete was used to being the object of people’s sexual focus. In a business where he was marketed as an omega, most of his colleagues, most of the producers and directors, most people tended to look beyond what they knew about him, choosing to see an acceptable “omega”.
After all, he was seen as a beta. He was palatable enough to work with. But with the added bonus of his self-expression, they could objectify him the way they would an omega. They could leer at him, openly want him, loom over him, like they would an omega. By telling themselves that Pete was the way he was, only because of his job, that Pete moved the way he moved, looked the way he did, because he took on omega roles, they could turn off their brains and associate him with being an omega, without having to pursue him from the workplace.
But with Vegas, it was different. Because Pete hadn’t even done anything before Vegas was looking at him, watching him like he wanted to photograph every one of Pete’s movements. Pete had never been with someone so present, in the moment. Always with his eyes open, watching Pete, even when they were intimate, times when he’d thought Vegas would close his eyes, Vegas remained alert, careful, bordering on vigilant.
“What do you want?” he asked, that first day, hands wrapped around Pete’s waist like he didn’t want to let go, even if it was to take their clothes off.
With the way he wanted to cater to Pete, to please Pete, asking questions, withdrawing when Pete reacted with minimal discomfort, Pete didn’t have to imagine what sort of sexual partners Vegas had ever had. Because it almost seemed like he had an obsession with Pete’s satisfaction. A trait that Pete recognized. It was familiar, the way Vegas handled him, with precise movements, spending so much time on Pete’s reaction than actually feeling anything.
Pete knew what that was.
He used to be that way when he was in prison, pleasing everyone else to survive, learning to control his body and his urges so that he didn’t burst too soon and leave someone unsatisfied. It was odd to see such behavior in an alpha: not to talk of one so powerful as Vegas Theerapanyakul. Pete could not understand it.
He enjoyed it, though. That first night, letting Vegas pull orgasm after orgasm out of him, till Pete was numb with pleasure.
“How was it?” he’d asked, when they were lying in bed, after he’d just tossed the condom in the trash.
Vegas was looking up at the ceiling, but Pete was turned on his side, watching Vegas, wondering how to answer. Because a man like this didn’t become this way for no reason. It was a product of years and years of conditioning, of being with partners whose pleasure he had to secure, whose pleasure he deemed more important than his.
Pete could use this. A powerful man who was eager to please? Such a currency never ran out of value.
“It was alright,” he said, knowing that it was mind-blowing. But Vegas didn’t need to know that.
Vegas turned to him, a frown on his face. His pride was hurt. He was also confused.
“Come,” Pete said, pulling Vegas into his arms.
“What are you doing?” Vegas' muffled voice sounded against Pete’s chest.
“Sleeping.”
“We need to shower.”
“Close your eyes, Khun-Vegas,” Pete said, softly, running his fingers through Vegas’ hair. “You’ve done well.” Vegas needed to hear that. But men like Vegas, they never thought of their own well-being. Not emotionally. “Do you know you did well?”
Vegas didn’t answer.
Pete didn’t need him to answer. He needed Vegas to cool off, to get comfortable, to sleep. Humming gently, he massaged Vegas’ head, and back of his neck. Even mean, powerful men needed a little tender loving, sometimes. Considering how tense Vegas was in Pete’s hands, he’d probably never felt this before. Never had someone hold him till the tension eased right out of his body.
Just like it was doing, as Vegas’ breathing began to mellow and Vegas’ slipped his hands underneath and above Pete, as well. Pulling Pete close, he held on, his face still buried in Pete’s chest. And that was how they spent that first night.
Even though Pete had been hoping for a chance to snoop, the sleeping Vegas wouldn’t let go.
Which was why Pete needed Vegas out of the room BEFORE anything actually happened.
The next night, Pete dallied at the dinner table, looking at his watch, knowing that Vegas was waiting for him. He had to time it just right so that he would already be in the room when it happened, but they wouldn’t have actually started fucking yet. When he was ready, he got his bag, dropped off his plate and headed up. Vegas was right there, eating outside his room for Pete. They hadn’t even made it one minute into the room before Vegas’ phone was ringing.
“Uh…” he said, hands clenching into Pete’s back, like he didn’t want to let go. “I have to go.”
“Where? What’s going on?” Pete asked.
“I’ll tell you when I get back.”
As soon as he was gone, Pete ran to his bag to get the gadgets Wan had given to him. He put a bug on Vegas’ laptop, one behind the head of the bed and underneath the table. If Daye had done his job, if he’d booked the hotel room like Pete instructed and thrown the brick right through, then Vegas would be a while, as they waited for hotel staff to show up.
By the time Vegas returned, Pete was sitting at the center of the bed, his legs folded in as he played games on his phone.
“Sorry to keep you waiting,” Vegas said, a scowl on his face.
“What happened?”
“Someone threw a brick through Porsche’s window.” He looked at Pete. “Through your room window, in fact.”
“Oh my god, is Porsche alright?” Pete asked, kneeling up in the bed.
“He’s fine.” Vegas kicked off his shoes. “Foolish and fucking frustrating, but fine.”
He didn’t elaborate, but Pete didn’t care. He’d succeeded in his plans to bug Vegas’ room. Daye had earned that pay. If he was smart, he’d check out of that room before the morning came.
***
Pete didn’t even have time to reap the benefits of the previous night, because, not only did Vegas disappear from that room for the next nine days, but he left his laptop behind. Pete watched and waited, hoping that Vegas would come back, but he never did. When he asked Kinn, Kinn said he had no idea.
So, Pete called him.
“What?” Vegas said.
“Hello to you, too,” Pete said.
“Oh my god, Pete.” His voice completely changed, “Hi.”
“I stole your number from Phi-Kinn’s phone.”
Vegas laughed.
“Wow, I haven’t heard your voice in ages.”
“Is this how you do it?” Pete asked. “Love ‘em and leave ‘em?”
“What? No,” Vegas said. “It’s not like that. I just… I had a few things to take care of. I was looking for someone.”
“Where are you?” Pete asked.
He needed to know because Wan would want results, soon. And Pete had nothing.
“Why? What happened?”
“I want to see you.”
“Oh,” he said, sounding uncertain. “Well… I’m at home right now.”
“Invite me over.”
“I don’t know if you want to come over now. I have a noisy house guest..”
“Sounds like fun.”
“Pete.”
“Are you doing something you shouldn’t be doing?” Pete teased.
“I’m always doing something I shouldn’t be doing.”
Pete laughed.
“Fine,” he said. “I don’t want to bother you.”
“Bother me,” Vegas said. “I like the bother. It’s just-”
“You can’t invite me over.”
“I’m working right now.”
“I’ll try not to get in the way.”
The phone was silent for a few moments as Pete gave Vegas a chance to think it over.
“Fine,” he said. “I’ll text you the address.”
As soon as Pete cut the call, he jumped into action.
Pete was done for the day. His photoshoot session was over and it was still Saturday. While others had their pictures taken, Pete had free time. With no rehearsals scheduled for Sunday, Pete wouldn’t need to be at camp till Monday morning.
This was his chance. He packed clothes, suppressants and toiletries. But knowing that this wasn’t just a fun trip, Pete put in a few tech-toys too. After all, if Vegas spent more time in his house than at camp, then Vegas’ home would be the best place to leave a few bugs.

OK, first week of 15 Minutes with KPTS, which is about the time that Ep 1 takes to introduce us to our titular protagonists and let them have their meet-cute.
Something that immediately hit me is that Kinn is introduced as a literal red flag. Everybody makes so much of Vegas's red villain mood lighting, but Kinn marches out of that main family compound front entrance in our first view of him in a suit that's alternately the color of dried and fresh blood, depending, for his business meeting to casually shoot a guy in the head as a message. That suit's going to look burgundy, dark, the color of a scab of dried blood for most of this initial appearance, but then right around 14:30, when he gets off the motorcycle from behind Porsche at that gas station after they escape the goons trying to kill him, it's noticeably brighter, closer to the color of fresh blood, for his first actual conversation with Porsche.
Another thing I noticed right away was the use of reflections, and I know there's already been some meta about reflected vs. real images in the show, but I had forgotten that we start seeing it used this early. Some of it is probably for convenience, so we can see both Kinn's and Don's faces in a single shot, even though they're faced off on opposite sides of a table, but it also serves as an extension of self for the characters, a literal image of their metaphorical reach. When Kinn starts talking about looking through the company books, and then again when he talks about someone cheating, there are moments when we're looking directly at Don, and there's a reflection of Kinn to his right on screen, looking as if he's behind Don. If the reflection is an extension of self, then this is Kinn observing Don, stalking Don, while remaining unseen. Then there are a handful of times - including when Don asks Kinn to sit down at the beginning of the meeting, and then again when Kinn holds out his hand and accepts Big's gun - when we get a shot of Don that also shows both actual Kinn in front of him (across the table from him) and reflected Kinn behind him, the two of Kinn flanking him, like he's got Don boxed in - which of course, he does. The jaws of the trap are set when Don asks Kinn to sit down, and they snap closed when Big's gun hits the palm of Kinn's hand.
This is all intercut with our introduction to Porsche at Hum Bar, and we first see him facing away from the camera, toward the mirror behind the bar that's lined with liquor and glasses, as Yok brings in some customers, before he finally he turns around, game face on, to perform for the ladies. Porsche at Hum Bar is all shirt unbuttoned even lower than Kinn's, smooth talking the ladies, getting his cocktail on behind the bar, doing a dozen shots, handing out Don Juan advice for free - because he doesn't charge his homies - to his junior waiters and bartenders, and getting busy with tonight's hookup in the back alley. Every bit of this is a hustle of some kind - Porsche is introduced to us as a hustler. He advises his juniors that the way into rich ladies' wallets and panties is to praise them and give them what they want. He's having a post-O cigarette in the alley when Kinn comes barrelling in with Assassination Goon Squad hot on his heels, and like any good hustler, Porsche requires a fee for services rendered, i.e. to save Kinn's ass, because Kinn is not one of the homies. We're treated to a brief display of Porsche's street-fighting skills that we'll see for a couple of episodes and that he'll then apparently lose, like everything else of his old life, as he's subsumed into the main family compound. I'm going to miss street-fighter Porsche. The hustler will remain, however, and will not only understand that Vegas requires a fee to provide information in Ep 13 but will hold out that fee, a.k.a. Pete, on a silver platter, because Porsche is not actually one of Vegas's homies, and that's how you get services rendered. You can take the boy off the streets, but can you take the streets out of the boy?
At about 14:45, we've made our escape on Porsche's motorcycle, we stop in a gas station parking lot, and we hit this little wordless conversation of headtilts that was what initially hooked me into the show. Both Apo and Mile do a great job of this, and Mile, frankly, looks the best he's going to look anywhere in the show - I don't know if it's having Kinn's unfortunate helmet hair tousled fetchingly by the breeze on the back of a motorbike, or if this earliest stage of the show is still showing Filmania styling influence or what, but they never quite manage to hit this again.
Of note, the first time around, this whole exchange in the gas station parking lot gave me some expectations for their later pairing dynamic that did not pan out at all, lol (rough-trade Porsche whomst?). I can't help feeling like both Porsche and I get taken in a little bit by a Kinn who's out of his element and more specifically out of the iron control he otherwise keeps on everyone and everything around him, and we never really see that guy again, other than at some points during the kidnapping in Ep 6. Kinn playacts at it some when they slip the leash in Ep 8, maybe, but it still feels like an act there, I think - I'll be interested to see how I feel about it when it comes 'round on this re-watch. Porsche is also in control of their interaction in this scene in a way that not only will he never have again, but that we'll watch be systematically stripped away from him, sometimes brutally. Probably unintentional and just meant as a good comedy bit, but with knowledge of what's coming, Kinn asking for Porsche's phone and Porsche saying no while yanking it away from him made me think about how not only is Porsche going to lose his phone when the main family compound swallows him, but how he's only going to get a phone back - and one he's only supposed to use to call Kinn - when Kinn allows it for his own convenience.
Shot of the family crest ring as Porsche pulls Kinn's watch off.
First shot of Pete - foreground and blurred - at about 16:50 as the camera focuses on Arm and Ken instead.
Big's with Kinn for the entire first part of this sequence - he opens the door as Kinn leaves the main family compound, rides in the same car, takes point on the walk into the back room to meet Don, stands at Kinn's left shoulder during the meeting, hands Kinn his own gun for the wetwork, and of course is the one who sticks to Kinn like a burr while trying to escape Assassination Goon Squad, until he gets shot. He gets shot in the arm right about the same place Pete's going to shoot Vegas in the last ep. He's also shown right up front wearing his cute little stylin' ponytail and some earrings, indicating both that he's going to be a speaking character and that he's apparently being allowed some liberties with the dress code that we aren't going to see from anyone else while they're in uniform. Meanwhile, we don't actually see any more of our regulars among the bodyguards during the meeting with Don.
Gets us to about 17:00 for this week.

Porsche was distracting.
"This isn't something to take lightly."
"Who said I'm taking it lightly?" Porsche snapped, voice cold and hard and professional as he fixed his tie. Big scowled at his retort.
"You're messy. Every time you've been taken to an event, you fuck up," Big shot back.
Porsche rolled his eyes, not dignifying him with a response. Kinn watched them, unseen and silent, but Porsche rolled his head to the side and he was, again, distracted. The bend of his neck, the warm tones of his skin, the muscles and tendons that flexed. Distracting.
"Sucks not to be Daddy's favorite anyone, huh?" Porsche asked after awhile as he fixed his collar. He gave Big a shit eating grin and patted him on the shoulder. "Or–wait, were you ever?"
"You–"
Kinn stepped in, making himself seen, and they both stood up straighter. Big still had an angry glare but he bowed to him in greeting. Porsche didn't bother with it, but he was still more respectful than he'd been before they started their, well, thing. It was almost strange how he talked back significantly less now, always seeming to be serious when he was on the job despite it being an open secret that Kinn was, alarmingly, at his beck and call. Maybe it was because he had full reign to do it in private.
"This event will go smoothly, won't it?" he said.
"Yes, Khun Kinn," Big said.
Kinn shifted his gaze to Porsche, keeping it cool despite the fact that nothing in his body ever felt cool when he looked at him. Porsche gave him the faintest smile. There was definitely temptation to grab him by the belt and haul him behind closed doors. He didn’t. He had self control.
“Porsche,” he said. Porsche raised his head a bit in acknowledgement. Kinn held out his hand.
Porsche looked at it and then back to his face a couple times and he could tell Big was staring a hole into the side of his head. He didn’t really care as he reached for Porsche’s arm with one hand and into his pocket with the other. He pulled out a small box and opened it to reveal a set of cufflinks.
“Hold this.”
“Yes, Khun Kinn,” Big said, though his words were unnecessarily tense. He held the box anyway.
Kinn pulled out one and started to fasten it on Porsche’s suit, locking eyes with him. Porsche had that serious look on his face that still betrayed the thousands of thoughts running through his mind. It was such a fascinating look to see so up close. He wanted him to speak all of them.
“There will be a lot of important people at the event tonight, but it will go smoothly. You’ll stay close, won’t you?” he said, gliding his thumb over the cufflink that he’d secured. It had his family’s insignia on it, it matched his ring‒anyone who saw them would know exactly who Porsche belonged to.
Kinn grabbed the second one from the box and started to put it on his other sleeve.
“That’s my job,” Porsche said, giving a tight smile. His eyes kept leaving Kinn’s face to look at Big, but Kinn didn’t bother doing the same. He didn’t really give a shit what anyone thought. He’d given that up quite some time ago.
“It is,” Kinn said, “But also… I would like you to stay there. Don’t wander too far.”
“Khun Kinn,” Big said. Kinn sighed softly and looked over at him. His jaw was tense, face tinted red. “May I be excused?”
“Yes,” Kinn said, irritated, “Go.”
Big put the box down and left the room, leaving them alone. It was only then that Porsche really looked at him, that smile playing on his lips and his eyes soft and teasing. Kinn put his hand back at his side before taking it upon himself to smooth out Porsche’s suit.
“Stop buying me weird things.”
“No,” Kinn said simply, “Besides, these are inexpensive.”
“Right, because something specially engraved with your family’s insignia is inexpensive?”
“I put no price on letting people know what is mine,” Kinn said, locking eyes with him and tugging him closer.
“Then why doesn’t every bodyguard have these?” Porsche asked, raising an eyebrow as his fingers drifted to Kinn’s hips and slipping beneath his suit jacket. He could feel the warmth of his hands through his shirt. Why did he agree to these plans anyway?
“I thought we already established that I play favorites?” Kinn asked, pushing in closer and he could feel Porsche smiling as he kissed him, “Stay beside me tonight.”
“That’s literally my job,” Porsche said again. Kinn shook his head.
“No, I mean stay at my side. Sort of as a plus one,” Kinn suggested. Porsche tilted his head, that smirk finding his face far too easily and Kinn almost regretted asking.
“Eh? What’s this? Kinn doesn’t want to attend by himself?” he teased, poking Kinn in the side. Kinn tried to dodge it and failed. “Too tired of people thinking you can’t find a date? How embarrassing.”
“Forget I asked,” Kinn said coolly and took a step back. Porsche laughed and followed him, wrapping his arms around his neck and leaning against him. Kinn could feel the gun he had tucked in his jacket and the knife at his hip. It was as distracting as the rest of him.
“I won’t be your plus one, but that’s because I’m supposed to be keeping you alive. Which means no drinking. And if I come as a plus one and I don’t drink, that would be rude,” Porsche said. He didn’t say that they both knew he’d properly sworn off drinking while on duty for a while now, which would still apply even if he came as a plus one.
“Okay,” Kinn said, his hands meeting his hips. He meant to push him back, but he was sure there were magnets beneath their skin that kept them connected.
Porsche placed a kiss on his lips and then on his cheek only to tilt his head to ask for the same. Kinn obliged with ease and kissed his cheek, his nose, his forehead before bowing his head against Porsche’s. His hand slid to the small of his back and pulled him in closer.
They stayed there until Arm came to tell them it was time to go.

Shrieking about the Ep 3 Kiss
(Last of the promised initial shrieking, going up through episode 3, so if you don’t want spoilers now you know.)
I know this is just under the wire but this week didn't go as planned for me so *hands*
To me I don't think it matters (honestly) about the sobriety conversation: neither of them are sober, and it's not really about taking advantage exactly. Not that drunkenness isn't helping things along—it is helping to make the walls lower, increasing deniability potentially later—but there's kind of a bit of fellow-feeling. The drunken confession or liquid-courage first kiss is a trope for a reason.
This dance started really early, with Kinn and Porsche asking each other who the real version is, clearly wondering when they'd see what was truly under the masks being presented. It kept being brought up, in the glances they'd throw at each other when they felt unobserved, trying to puzzle each other out. Kinn wanted to know, what about this insolent, trashfire of a bodyguard interested his father? Porsche had no context for understanding Kinn, when he was mocking or when he was helping, unless someone else explained to him.
Honestly I think the Tankhun situation was the best thing to happen to both of them. Porsche could see the firsthand results of failure in duty, and even motivated a bit by boredom, Porsche is still someone who loves his own brother very much. Kinn clearly loves his brother and wants a better life for him, but feels there's not a lot that can be done. That Tankhun left the residence, had a good time, and then went back for more, changes Kinn's demeanor the most through the whole series.
He goes from angry upon finding them sneaking Tankhun back into the residence to curious to at the party, tiddies out doing the most ridiculous dances with everyone while laughing—a thing you haven't seen him do, evince personal joy at his own level of comfort, this whole time. This is not the smirking, self-contained mafia boss, this is the joyous brother having fun at your party.
And Porsche, poor babygirl, has just found himself doing everything that day that he has despised. The party has been both an attempt to distract and also drink to forget, but it reveals something very important to Porsche's concept of self—living in the moment.
So this sets the stage for The Kiss.
I know we were all cheering/screaming/stumbling to our fainting couches, but it's too early for it to be true feelings. We all know it, I know. But it says a lot of very interesting things about their characters and their changing views of each other. Kinn is just starting to really want to understand Porsche on his own, to want to understand him because Kinn wants to see what is the real Porsche underneath. Porsche has finally decided that instead of being Kinn's personal Most Annoying Pain in the Ass, perhaps there are things about Kinn that Porsche could respect and might want to know about.
While we've seen both of these men have moments of affection and care for the people close to them, which between them is a select group, they've generally been trying to make sure that those interactions are unseen by the wider world. Which is why I think that scene with the bullet wound is important. The kiss could not have happened, if Kinn had not gone to check on Porsche, and if Porsche—and this is crucial—had not been the first person to visibly lower some of the hostility and make some overtures to a softer connection. Which, at that point, Kinn cannot handle so he flees.
So by the time Kinn and Porsche are on the water, sauced after a successful night out, and generally pretty relaxed, you've got everyone in about as good a place as it could be at this point. Porsche, who I don't think has ever had a boss that he treats deferentially so much as like a friend, starts to open up to Kinn. To explain to Kinn that he's sitting with some difficult emotions from the day.
Kinn, who's clearly feeling the strain of being in the mafia himself (thank you @gaelley for pointing this out to me), I think would understand if Porsche cut and run at this point. Yes, the deal is set up to make it very difficult for Porsche to want to back out, but Porsche could probably still leave. He telegraphs this—my whole life has been this—and Porsche does not run.
Porsche instead says, I know you saved my life, I understand now what you did for me, and then sits there like an adorable drunkie who has solved world peace—and he crucially does not run. Because they understand each other, in this moment, and he is satisfied with that. He can keep being a bodyguard for this man, doing things he hates doing, because Kinn understands. It may be the way of the world, but the way of the world sucks, and that is, for now, enough for Porsche.
Clearly, Kinn thinks Porsche is objectively attractive—he's looked, his friends have looked, his friends have even noted Porsche is Kinn's type. Maybe it's enough of a shield, maybe it's a convenient excuse, but I think for Kinn, seeing someone say “this is the worst thing I ever imagined doing, but you understand that, and you tried to protect me, so thanks and I'll stay here” must have punched all the emotions in his chest.
It may not be love yet, but it's not nothing, is what I'm saying.

“Porsche Unseen” Unreleased Concept Cars
Under the title “Porsche Unseen”, Porsche is for the first time publishing design studies from 2005 to 2019 which have until now been kept under lock and key. The sports car manufacturer is showing spectacular visions of 15 different cars. The early studies cover the segments “Spin-offs“, “Little rebels“, “Hyper cars“ and “What’s next?”. In this way, Porsche is offering an exclusive insight into its design process – from the very first drawing to the finished model ready for series production.
The previously unpublished design studies are being presented exclusively by the Porsche Newsroom in a series of articles. The 911:Magazine web TV format has also dedicated an episode to selected studies and examines the connection between the studies and the current production models together with Porsche Chief Designer Michael Mauer. For fans of the brand, the book entitled “Porsche Unseen” is released today by the Delius Klasing publishing house. Interested readers are given a detailed look behind the scenes of Style Porsche. A selection of studies will also be on display later for fans to admire live: the Porsche Museum will be integrating the models in the exhibition in 2021.
The design process: from first drawing to prototype
The design process starts with a sketch. This is visualized in the next step as a 3D model. As soon as an idea is to be developed further, small models are produced in a scale of 1:3, then followed by hard models in the scale 1:1. “The virtual world is the first step, but you especially have to experience the unusual models in reality in order to understand whether a car has small, large or surprising proportions,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. In contrast to the development of a production model where several models are always developed with different styling formats, the vision projects, on the other hand, concentrate on a single vision model which serves as a protagonist for the central idea.
“Porsche intentionally has just a single design studio – located in the direct proximity of development,” says Michael Mauer. “Weissach is our epicentre. Instead of opening advanced design studios in the distant metropolises of North America and Asia, our designers come from all over the world to Porsche in Weissach in order to create the latest production sports cars and automotive visions at the heart of the brand. More than 120 designers, experts for interior, exterior, colors and materials, model builders, modelers and study engineers work in the Porsche Design Studio.
The design studies: on a journey of the mind into the future of mobility “When it comes to the visions we develop, it is not about bringing every car onto the road. Instead, it is more a question of establishing creative space and a relationship with the future,” says Michael Mauer when describing the design process and adds: “There are two possibilities for continuing to develop as a brand: either you improve your products from the present, that is to say step-by-step. However, it is difficult to be really innovative in this process. Or you give free rein to your creativity. The idea is to let your thoughts jump to the day after tomorrow, and to then move back from there to tomorrow.”
Based on this idea, Porsche develops the product and brand identity which characterizes and secures the appearance of all models in the long term. The design language for future models develops from the long-term vision. In this process, the higher-level goal is to combine the Porsche design DNA with state-of-the-art vehicle engineering. On the one hand, this secures the innovative capability of future Porsche models and, on the other, also provides an evolutionary reference to the rich history of Porsche. A closer look at some examples:
The Porsche 919 Street (2017; 1:1 clay model) was developed on the basis of the technology used in the Porsche 919 Hybrid, promising to make the exhilarating driving experience of the LMP1 race car available to amateur drivers. Under the outer shell are the carbon monocoque and powerful 900 PS hybrid racing drivetrain that helped the Porsche 919 to achieve numerous victories at Le Mans. The dimensions and wheelbase were also the same as on the race car.
With its spartan, puristic cockpit, the characteristic radiator grilles over the mid engine, red graphic elements and the suggested fins at the rear, the compact Porsche Vision Spyder (2019; 1:1 hard model) clearly calls to mind the Porsche 550-1500 RS Spyder from 1954. At the same time, the study was intended to further develop the design identity of Porsche and provide a pool of ideas for future details – for example, the ultra-modern roll bar.
The Porsche vision “Renndienst” (2018; 1:1 hard model) is the free interpretation of a family-friendly space concept for up to six persons. The design team designed a futuristic “space shuttle“ with exciting proportions. The study shows how the Porsche design DNA with its characteristic surface modelling can be transferred to an unknown vehicle segment for the brand. In the interior, passengers find a comfortable and modular travel cabin. The driver sits in a central driver's seat. The all-electric drive technology is located in the underbody. As a result, passengers can enjoy an unexpectedly generous space and travel experience combined with Porsche-like flair.
The book “Porsche Unseen” is now available from retailers with the ISBN number 978-3-667-11980-3. The design studies are presented in detail over 328 pages with impressive photos from Stefan Bogner and informative text by Jan Karl Baedeker. It is published by Delius Klasing Verlag and is also available in the Porsche Museum shop.
