GET IN THE WATER!

I have this itching feeling of wanting to make an animatic of Get In The Water. But there are some scenes I'm like… How do I even depict this???

You see, I have a headcanon (that is probably not a very good theory) that Poseidon is more of a representation of death itself and also a mirror of Odysseus. Or more like an Odysseus who has lost his son and wants revenge. And then it goes further with the connection to Hector. It's not that I believe Poseidon is actually Hector's ghost haunting Odysseus, but it's a parallel that I simply love!

How do I even end this text…?? Muuu I dunno. I love drama and trauma in my musicals.

Theseus, who was helped by poseidon multiple times, but in the end was thrown off a cliff by the citizens of Athens and drowned. Drowned in the ocean, the very domain of his father.

Kymopoleia, who was neglected by Poseidon once he found her to be too violent, left to wander his abandoned palaces, given up as a war prize to man she didn't even want with no choice at all.

Bellerophon, who was given the pegasus to tame as a gift from Poseidon in some myths, dying by falling off of it on his way to Olympus.

I'm just saying, that line wasn't a random throwaway line by Ares, he means it.

there’s something about poseidon showing up for sally.

luke tells percy that they burn what they’ll miss most so that gods will know that what they’re saying is important so they’re really listen.

but sally burns ice cream. ice cream that she has no attachment to. it’s not even baby percy’s ice cream. it’s just random leftover ice cream that she grabbed from a pile of dirty dishes.

the ice cream could not be more unimportant to sally. in the grand scheme of things, the ice cream is nothing.

Percy being there while Poseidon and Zeus speak in Ancient Greek is not the mixed-family / immigrant family household representation I expected from this show but well welcomed.
