The positives of ‘putting yourself out there’ are worth it. Having a great conversation with a stranger will be worth the awkwardness of starting that exact conversation. Joining a small community of people you will see regularly is worth having to get through a scary first day. Getting your dream job is worth the scariness of chasing it. Don’t pick and choose experiences based on the level of ease now, but choose them based on how you want to come out of them.

Hey, stop scrolling for a minute. How are you doing? You okay? Come and sit down with me in the kitchen for a bit. It’s a warm day, the radio is playing all the oldies, the door is open and we can hear the birds. I’ll stick the kettle on. Do you take milk? Sugar? I’m baking some bread today, do you want to help? Or you can just sit and keep me company if you like. You can tell me everything that’s been going on. Or you could info dump about your favourite thing or tv show, I’d love to hear about the things you like. Or you can just sit at the table if you want, you could paint or draw or play animal crossing whilst I go about the kitchen and we can pass the time of day in contended quietness. Because you’re safe here. You can stay as long as you like and you can always come back. Everything will be okay, darling, you’ll see.

In case no one told you this year, I’ll say this. You are loved. You are worthy of being loved.you are enough. You are not alone. Your story doesn’t end here. This is your sign to keep going. This is your sign to stay alive. This is your sign to live the life the way you want. This is your sign to follow your dreams. This is your sign to save yourself.

It’s important to remember that affirmations are not meant to be said just when you’re ready to believe them. We practice affirmations so that we can offer ourselves reminders of kindness and do our best to act on them. It’s okay if you can say “I deserve good things” but can’t believe it yet. The goal is to gently work yourself up until you can.

hi you! here's your daily/nightly reminder that:
your voice should be heard.
your health is important.
your pain is not insignificant or lesser than others'.
you are not on this earth to be "productive."
you are the only one who can define your experiences.
you are cared for, even if only by strangers. we care.
now go stretch, hydrate, nourish, and lay down (if you can). just do your best, and don't worry if other's think it isn't enough. it is, and im proud of you.

hey you, i hope you can stop for a moment and think about everything you've overcome this far. place your hand on your chest, feel your heart beating. as long as you keep breathing, everything will be alright. you're a survivor, don't you ever forget that.

Something that I am gradually learning as an adult is that all the cringey things you enjoyed as a teenager aren’t cringey at all. Cringeyness is just a social construct and in all honesty, who cares? As long as it doesn’t hurt anyone, don’t feel guilty for enjoying the hobbies you indulge in! Go back to watching anime and playing dorky video games or rewatching children’s programmes for the nostalgia. Take up painting again. Read those books you never got around to as you grew up. We weren’t put on this planet to be miserable and follow society’s norms, so just go ham!

after it has been new, scary and uncomfortable, it’s going to be okay. isn’t that what we’re doing it for?

Hey, stop scrolling for a second. How are you doing? It’s so cold outside today, the sky is white and there is a chance of snow, but it’s warm inside. I can put the kettle on or I can heat some milk for a hot chocolate. Do you want to borrow a hoodie to keep you warm? Let’s sit down together for a while. I’ve got some crochet to do, why don’t we put on your comfort movie and we can watch it together? Or you can choose a book off of my shelves and I’ll give a warm blanket to snuggle under whilst you read. We can just talk or sit in silence if you prefer, we can just let time pass. Just remember that you’re safe here. And you can always come back.

the other day, one of my newer friends told me that she knew she wanted to be friends with me when a group of us were talking in a big circle and i backed up a little bit so she could be apart of the circle instead of outside of it. i didn’t even remember doing that and it just goes to show that small gestures and acts of kindness go such a long way and can completely transform someone else’s life. the cherry on top is that these things tend to have a snowball effect, and it can transform your life in ways you could never imagine, so go make someone’s day 🦋
